I know that I'm a little late to the James Somerton thing but I wanted to make my own post about this. I started watching James when I was 20 during the pandemic. It made me feel comforted to watch someone talk about queer theory in film, especially because I found out so many films I never heard about. His stuff did make me very passionate about queer history as well, and led me to start seeking more of it. I took a queer literature class in University (one of my fav classes) and I started watching more queer creators.
I grew up in Texas and Mississippi (the Deep South) in a pretty conservative environment. I started to break free of that in middle school and high school, though I was still very ignorant. I think I knew I was queer for a long time, but it took me a while to come out. I felt that I was around queer people who were somewhat hostile and wouldn't believe me. This is because I identified as ace for a little while. People were either actively hostile about that or they acted like it was a dumb identity that didn't matter. I also don't know if I'm cis or not, all I know is that I really relate to the experiences of the trans community.
I kept watching James' stuff over the years. I fell for the hole "academic queer" vibe. He talked so much about queer erasure that I thought he cared deeply about it. I felt connected to the queer community when I watched his content. He talked about trans and sapphic experiences so I thought he cared about that--turns out he stole all of that. All my favorite videos of his were stolen, word for word, from queer writers. All of the passion, all of the great writing, that was stolen. I thought I was watching someone who cared about queer history, but he was actively erasing it and harming other creators.
There were some things that I noticed. He mentioned the indie movie studio and I thought that was weird. I thought his Attack on Titan video was extremely weird and made a lot of non-points. I also remember disagreeing with a lot of it because he just said a bunch of nothing. I thought that it was weird he mainly talked about mainstream culture (Disney, MCU, etc.) rather than less well known pieces of queer media. And there were quite a few videos I didn't watch because there were so many of them (not sure how I didn't suspect that he was a content mill). Some of his videos were incredibly intriguing (because he stole good writing) while others were boring, so there was a lot of inconsistency.
I'm incredibly pissed at this man, and it's hard not to be pissed at myself. I didn't watch every single video by this dude, but I did watch enough. I think that I have a lot to examine about myself when it comes to picking up racism/misogyny/transphobia. Especially when he dressed up all his points to be "progressive" and "academic." I didn't pick up on things like "bad vibes" from this man. I'm not really sure what bad vibes even look like? I also didn't pick up on the fact that his writing style constantly changed. Even with all the strange shit, I still gave him the benefit of the doubt because he was queer and that was way too trusting and that's something I need to work on.
As for the misogyny thing, especially when it comes to queer women and trans/AFAB people. He said a lot of blatantly lesbophobic, biphobic, and transphobic things while downplaying the experiences of everyone who wasn't a cis gay. What James was saying about women in his videos is how a lot of people talk about queer women in the queer community. Especially in fandom spaces. Misogyny is so rampant on the Internet that it can be hard for me to pick up on it as a queer woman. So many people talk about how lesbians want every female character to be gay or how bisexual women are "fujoshis" constantly trying to fetishize gay men.
I hope this makes sense, but it feels like I'm being gaslit when it comes to misogyny because of how often I see it. It's hard for me to tell if I'm being oversensitive or if someone is actually being misogynistic to me. So many progressive men that I trusted have been misogynistic to me and that can be a lot. James was someone I trusted and defended. I even recommended him to people. It's something I'm still disappointed in myself for doing, but I'd like to think I've grown as a queer person since watching his channel. There are so many great queer creators out there and I definitely need to make a recommendation list in the near future.

Todays rip: 07/09/2023
Bigger at Night (Chung Yard)
Season 4 Episode 2 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume for Wii U
Ripped by MtH
youtube
BIG CHUNGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's kind of funny to see just how naturally Big Chungus, the demon itself, slotted into being a core part of the SiIva meme line-up. The meme, obviously, has cemented itself due specifically for how unfunny and Reddit-coded it was, something with no real comedic value beyond making fun of its oversaturation akin to something like Pickle Rick. During Season 4 Episode 1, Big Chungus suddenly showed up in a couple rips in April - a solid four months after the meme had effectively exploded and already became tiresome to a lot of people. KFaD2 took advantage of this and turned the meme, along with a certain bandicoot and echidna, into a joke contestant - a character representing the idea of "dead memes" being remembered purely out of irony. And as I've said before, if Season 4 Episode 1 was the competition, then Season 4 Episode 2 was the celebration.
After the tournament was over, and Cool Meme Team had made themselves known to the SiIva audience...Big Chungus started showing up again. More than even during the tournament, he sort of just became another meme in the roundup, and at this point most everyone was on board. The four or five songs used in association with the characters offer such a wide spectrum of melodies to use in interesting and funny ways, and rips like Bigger at Night (Chung Yard) show how the meme had gotten past just having ironic appeal. Its a genuinely incredible, authentic-sounding arrangement, to the point of even being used in its album release video's list of examples of just how good rips have gotten over the years. MtH has this touch for quality that is just indescribable.
As mentioned before, a big appeal of Big Chungus rips in particular to me is just how many songs the meme comes packaged with - its mainly using the aptly named Big Chungus song by CG5 as its lead melody, but later switches in elements of both BIG CHUNGUS | Official Main Theme by Endigo and Big Chungus by The Slopster as the rip progresses. A kind of variety gets to be injected into this already high-quality arrangement without having it lose focus from the core joke.
That joke, of course, being the very sensible and sane "What if Big Chungus was in Shovel Knight". SiIva truly is wonderful for enabling things like this happen - and for it to always be of such high quality.

Any thoughts on the casting for The Last of Us season 2?
Oh god. So many.
So, I actually have all of TLOU show related tags blocked - because just seeing mentions of the show gets me kind of ticked. I miss the strike era when production of the show was delayed indefinitely.
But as far as the casting - I think Dina's casting is alright. I was one of those people who was naively hoping that Cascina would actually get to play Dina in the show, but I knew realistically that was never actually gonna happen.
Abby's casting however - I genuinely think that Kaitlyn Denver is a horrible choice. Like they looked up all the people who absolutely cannot play Abby and then they picked her.
Someone said that she looks like young Ellie - and I think for a long time, she was a popular fancast for Ellie. And to me, she looks like she can maybe only play young Abby in flashbacks. So unless they're gonna completely surprise people and only have her playing young Abby and then have someone else playing the real main timeline version of Abby - it won't work.
If you guys know me, then you know that I am incredibly protective of Abby's character. And based on the complete bastardization that they did of Season 1/TLOU 1, I already knew that they were going to royally fuck up Abby's character in some way.
And yes, I am basing most of my opinions on the fact that she is small and thin and Abby is supposed to be muscled, but people don't understand how pivotal that aesthetic is as a part of Abby's characterization.
(And they were never going to find someone perfect unless they used 2 different actors - one for flashbacks and one for the main timeline - because Abby gets ripped over years but it is shown in one short story, and her model was made with 2 different people - one for the face and one for the body, so they could keep her face on a younger, thinner body in flashbacks.)
Abby being muscled is actually a pivotal thing - it means she is feared and respected among the WLF, it means that Lev and Yara immediately fall in and trust to follow her through the woods because they view her as a protector when they are vulnerable and alone. Her body is a tool that is useful to her - it makes her completely immune to Isaac's violence right up until the moment she looks him in the eyes and asks him not to shoot Lev, and even then, he is asking her to step away from Lev so that he doesn't have to kill his best solider.
Isaac was more willing to kill Owen - thinking of Owen as disposable - than he was willing to kill Abby. And I think that breach of our society's typical sexism (where a man is always a better fighter, Abby supersedes that) in their post apocalyptic world, is really, truly shown by Abby's large stature.
Not only that, but it makes her physical malnutrition and how much she has wasted away because of the Rattlers that much more shocking. (Which, if they were going to depict that, it would be easy to do so with a heavily muscled actor and then make them look shockingly thin with CGI and makeup - but that scene is one of the reasons why video games are sometimes a better format. It being 100% computer generated means no actors had to be harmed during those scenes.)
Also (I wish I had screenshots of the specific lines) - but Abby and Owen's breakup at the Aquarium is about her training (her urge to gain muscle in order to aid of her long term revenge mission toward Joel) - Owen is surprised when Abby says she can bench press 140 pounds, and therefore, she can easily lift him. And Owen is insulted that Abby wants to spend more time training than she does with him - he is upset that her trauma and her revenge has overtaken her life to the point where she doesn't want to goof off watching spotted seals, and instead - just wants to train more.
And this leads more into the dynamic of - Owen is a disposable pawn (who pretends to take a pacifist stance when he's really a coward) and Abby has to vouch for his life with Isaac because she is infinitely more valued in the organization.
There is just a lot of layers to it - and they're already fucking it up.
I am trying my hardest to ignore the fact that she show exists, but it's actively lowering the IQ of the fandom every single day, and now I am gonna have to take braindead Abby takes from people who have only seen the show, and I genuinely wish it had never been made in the first place.

Hello! A while back you mentioned as part of another thread that you believed the shots of the prisoners we see in Undercover show us the "catalyst" to what led each character to commit murder, while also mentioning how mahiru's was hard to figure out because of her seemingly being with her boyfriend. I've been thinking about this recently and how she could fit with the others and i realized, what if her victim is someone else?
Like maybe her supposed boyfriend really commited suicide, but that's not her murder but rather the incident that led her to commit murder. It would also explain kazui's shot since he also seems to be holding someone else. Maybe his wife really is dead just not because of him. These two shots are also that last two we see during that sequence maybe as a way to point to this similarity between them.
Kinda similar to how yuno's abortion and the girl who died in backdraft are not yuno and fuuta's actual murders.
Though i know that (at least so far) there's not that much evidence to this being the case with mahiru since there's no other person depicted in her video unlike with kazui. This could change once I Love You comes out but i am aware that there's still plenty of things this doesn't explain, as is the case with most theories, but i still thought it was an interesting thing to point out!
Oh, gosh! I never really analyzed Kazui or Mahiru's still shots from Undercover under that framing. Even though I said it I was more interested in other prisoners at the time and hadn't even thought of what that would mean for them.
You did point out a new and interesting way to look at Kazui and Mahiru's cases so thank you for that. Mostly though this is a great opportunity for me to go over this idea again in more depth. So, with that and my apologies for how long this will be let's jump into this!
I do believe everyone else's frames from Undercover occur before their murder meaning it's highly likely that theirs did as well.
Since we're retreading that I'll explain it again. Also, because the thread you're referring to is incredibly long.
Firstly, why did I believe this was the case then? Do I still believe it to be the case now? Is there more evidence for it being the case than I previously discovered?
Let's go over some prisoners to find out.
Sakurai, Haruka
Tumblr media
In Undercover we see Haruka sitting on what can be believed to be his bed next to his plush rabbit, building blocks, and a drawing he made on the floor. The drawing appears in Weakness right before any allusion to murder is made.
We also see a scene of him waking up in what can be believed to be this same bed next to a worn-down version of the plush rabbit we see within Undercover. This scene is accompanied by the lines,
"I was wrong. Yes, it was me."
A line that hints at the possibility that this scene of him waking up occurred after the murder. Something also illustrated by the nature of this plush toy within this scene in comparison to how we see it in Undercover.
By combining his still image from undercover with the information given to us by him in Weakness, All-knowing All-agony, along with the other information we receive through Milgram we can create a rough timeline of events.
We are told during his first written interrogation that Haruka's family structure is,
Q.07   Tell us your family structure.
Haruka: My father and my mother and me.
This makes it likely that at the point he was taken by Milgram he was still living under the care of both of his parents. We already know that he killed his younger sister. So, she would no longer be a part of the family structure as it is today.
This does tell us that for one reason or another after killing their other child they didn't disown or disavow him. The idea of this is something that's touched on later in All-knowing All-Agony.
Haruka still living with or being supported by his parents is a conclusion that can also be drawn when you compare his answer to this to how the other prisoners answers.
Yuno: Grandpa, grandma, mum, me, younger brother←Yura.
Q.08 Tell us your family structure.
Futa: Father and older sister.
Despite us knowing Futa has a mother he doesn't mention her because she is estranged from his family. As such she is not a direct member of his household or family structure. He also doesn't mention himself because that's obvious it's his family, of course he's in it.
Mu: Papa, Mama and Mu.
Haruka and Mu both mention themselves within their family structure making it clear that they may feel unsteady within those relationships. Having to assert oh yeah and me I guess I'm apart of this as well.
Q.01 Tell us your family structure.
Mikoto: My mother, me, and my younger sister. My sister’s a blossoming high school student.
Mikoto mentions himself as well within his family structure. However, while this could display discomfort or uncertainty with these ties similarly to Haruka and Mu. It could very easily be him going well I don't live with them, but I have a mother and a younger sister or denoting a sense of responsibility and care towards his family despite no longer living with them.
Unlike Mu and Haruka who mention themselves last giving the impression of them being dependent on their parents.
This is something that Yuno and Mikoto share. Despite them both being more than capable of living on their own they both show a great deal of concern and attentiveness towards their younger siblings and have a sense of familial responsibility.
On top of that they're both rather community-oriented individuals. Usually paying close attention to the atmosphere they're in and liking to keep it light and amicable.
Yuno shows us this through giving answer like,
Q.19   Who do you want to see right now?
Yuno: Hmm. My family, I guess.
Though she takes a bit to figure it out and words it in a way that can sound flippant during her time in Milgram we see Yuno partake in several activities that she used to do to entertain her younger brother. First to impress Amane in the portal timeline though she gets a more lukewarm reaction than she was expecting. Then we see her do similar tricks around Kazui and with Futa nearby who are both incredibly impressed.
She probably even requested the items necessary to perform these feats because she very much misses her family. Pus, Milgram probably didn't just have these things lying around... Unless...well Jackalope can hold a frying pan so-nah it's probably not that. She more than likely ordered them.
Q.07 You just got given one million yen and need to use it up as quickly as possible, what will you do?
Yuno: I’ll go out for a really nice meal together with my family. The rest I’ll give to my friends.
Friends are a form of found family and Yuno mentions hers often. The fact that she's willing to split the rest of a million yen amongst them after treating her family to a really nice meal shows an amount of affection for them as well as her faith in her own work ethic. Something that tracks as Yuno has presented herself to be the sort that doesn't like pity or handouts. In fact, both seem to really piss her off.
Q.15 If you could have one wish granted, what would it be?
Yuno: I don’t really have anything. I’m fine as long as my friends and family are happy.
Leaning more into her friends being an extension of her family she puts their happiness alongside her literal families.
While Mikoto displays this habit through answers like,
Q.09 Why do you give everyone nicknames?
Mikoto: I guess it became a habit when I was at university. Having a nickname for someone that only you call them comes with a lot of advantages, do recommend.
This is not only a good way to bypass remembering names if you're bad at it but also can make individuals feel special. A lot of people lament never really being given a nickname by anyone before. So, it's a fun way of bridging social gaps and making people feel seen though it can backfire at times.
So, it's best to only to do this sort of thing with the right sort of people or people you've known for a bit. Ultimately though the benefits outweigh its shortcomings. Much easier to get away with inside a school setting.
Q.11 Are you the sort of person who considers others a lot?
Mikoto: Yeah, I do. I’m a working adult, after all. Proper communication makes work a lot easier.
Literally conflated being conscious/considerate of those around him as proper communication.
Q.16 What’s your relationship like with your parents?
Mikoto: My parents are divorced. I get along well with my mother though, she’s the one who raised me. I don’t want to make her worry.
Sorry, let's get back on topic.
We see that Mikoto lives alone in MeMe. He also goes into detail about his younger sister alluding to the idea of him being a bit of a dotting older brother. Then as we see up there, he later goes into detail about not wanting to worry his mother which tells us that being dotting worrywarts might just be a family thing.
Q.09 Tell us your family structure.
Kazui: It’s only me now.
Kazui blatantly states it's only him now without giving any detail on what it used to be. Once again cementing that these are their current family structures not their past ones.
Amane: It was my father, my mother and me.
Amane does the opposite of Kazui's strategy detailing her past living arrangements instead of telling us what they are now.
We see that her family grows after her father went on his "trip" through her first mv Magic through Amane being labeled as an older sister in the credits.
Along with the individuals in her mv being given introduction cards as well as roles,
Tumblr media
Sadly, I'm not advanced enough at Japanese to read this and all I really remember is that Yuri is labeled as an older brother within this. So, it'd be great if someone more well versed in the language than me could translate this.
However, Amane's translated lyrics allude to these people being her family or immediate caretakers as well with lines like-
"I won’t say “I’ve had enough”. Will you laugh with me and forgive me? I promise! I can only become a better girl! Only if, only if, only if I could be a good girl. I hope, I hope everyone can be happy and smile. Forever, forever together would be a dream."/ "I won’t say “I’ve had enough” Will you laugh with me and forgive me? I take an oath! I can only become a better girl!"
Everyone in Milgram that has gotten this question and answered it properly displays their family structures in a seniority-based way. This is implied more by how Yuno and Mikoto answer. Putting themselves before both of their younger siblings.
Basically, those who answer all go youngest to oldest except for possibly Haruka's, Mu's, and Amane's which could mention the head of the household first.
It should be taken into consideration that the fathers of Yuno and Mikoto aren't active participants in their life or family structure. They are estranged like Futa's mom.
Haruka and Yuno are asked this question as well during their first written interrogation-
Q.05     What is your father like?
Haruka: I made him disappointed.
Yuno: He’s not been around for as long as I can remember so I don’t know!
We see drawings of what we can interpret to be Haruka's father within Weakness.
Tumblr media
We also see Haruka mirroring his father's cold expression at his younger self before shoving him. Chances are that some of Haruka's lines in All-knowing All-agony are referencing his father's treatment of him that was alluded to in Weakness-
"It’s fine, it’s all my fault, right? It’s enough, I am a “disappointment”."/ "You never called me by my name. Instead, you kept calling me “hopeless”. You were always comparing me to someone else. You were always generous, except towards me."
Tumblr media
Haruka tells us in his second written interrogation,
Q.08 Do you have any memories of fun times in your childhood?
Haruka: I had fun when I was little. My mother was kind to me then.
So, we know for certain that those lines in All-Knowing All-Agony aren't referring to his mother but his father. The person from the beginning Haruka said was disappointed in him.
The person he only mentions within these answers,
Q.07 Tell us your family structure.
Haruka: My father and my mother and me.
Q.09 What do you think of your family?
Haruka: I like them.
Written Interrogation 2
Q.05 What is your father like?
Haruka: I made him disappointed.
Q.04 What’s the origin of your name?
Haruka: Apparently my parents wanted a girl. It was decided on long before I was born.
From taking Haruka's statements on his father and comparing them to his mother during the written interrogation we can gather that his dad was the one who found him lacking from the start.
Making Haruka's father the one these lines in Weakness are referring to,
"If I tried and couldn’t say it- You would get angry at me and say “You’re hopeless.”. If only I could do what anyone else could do."
"It’s fine, it’s all my fault, right? It’s enough, I am a “disappointment”."
"You praised me by saying “You’re crazy.” Thank you, I’ll do my best. How many more times do I have to do this so I can be human?"
While these lines,
"Tell me, why are you drifting away from me? Tell me, why do you say it’s my fault? The word I tried to say was “You’re unfair”, and those words thought how pitiful I am."
"Why is it breaking? Tell me why? Please don’t change."
Refer to his mother. The person who he states used to be kind to him but changed for some yet to be specified reason. Though it's probably because he killed his sister her daughter. Something alluded to through these answers in his first written interrogation,
Q.17 Do you have anything you regret?
Haruka: I do.
Q.18 What scares you most?
Haruka: Betraying people.
Along with the lyrics within Weakness,
"I wanted to be a pitied and loved weakling- I was in denial, I was in denial."- "I was wrong. Yes, it was me."
Giving us a lot to work with to speculate a rough timeline of events. Haruka started out mostly viewed with contempt by his father who viewed him as being a disappointment in every way. His parents wanted their first child to be a daughter instead they had a son. Giving real meaning to the line,
"My life started in a wrong spot."
Not only that, it is implied that Haruka has difficulties when it comes to developing communication skills needing more attention when it comes to developing them. Something that isn't implied to be an issue with his younger sister.
The person his father was comparing him to leading to the highlighted line in All-knowing All-agony,
"Can I be your favorite this time?”
*Sidenote- This is possibly why Haruka emphasizes the warden not being his mom because he's placed Es and the guards in a father role. Something alluded to through the highlighted lyric being this line.
Along with the follow up to this line,
"You praised me by saying “You’re crazy.” Thank you, I’ll do my best. How many more times do I have to do this so I can be human?" - "Don’t wipe me out, don’t wipe me out- I just want to be your good boy. I will keep on killing to be a good boy."
Chances are Haruka reached a certain age his father and mother tried for another kid. Then successfully had a daughter that his father favored more than him. Something once again implied through All-knowing All-Agony.
Specifically, through this line,
"You were always generous, except towards me."
We are shown that Haruka's mom has a lot of jewelry, they have a particularly big home, and throughout Weakness and All-Knowing All-Agony we see they have various pets. Chances are the one paying for all these things was Haruka's father. He bought things for the family and probably his daughter but didn't really find it necessary or worthwhile to treat Haruka to the same generosity.
Because, well he didn't like him from the start. Hell, I don't know why his father didn't like him but I do know he didn't like him before the murders occurred because that's what Haruka's words imply. I don't have an excuse for the guy it just seems to be what the information given to us is pointing towards. Dude just said fuck this kid it's not the daughter I wanted then got a daughter and was like finally a child I can love as Haruka was just there like, "Um, hey?!"
This is something that all parents can do regardless of if they're blood related or not so I don't want to make assumptions. However, given how Haruka answers the name question I think it's safe to say this is his biological dad. He literally says his parents decided on his name long before he was born.
His father just didn't want a son and yeah parents play favorites all the time. So, it wouldn't be surprising to me if he dotted on and spoiled his daughter and wife more than the son he makes abundantly clear to everyone in the room including said son he didn't want and calls a disappointment and loser frequently enough for it to be mentioned in two songs.
"I wasn’t wrong, I wasn’t wrong! Please don’t say that I am a loser!"
While Haruka's mother on the other hand wasn't as overt about her disappointment but also made it clear to Haruka that they were expecting and hoping for a girl. She didn't lie about where his name came from if he asked probably but she wasn't like ahn fuck this kid. To Haruka's own admission she was nice to him when he was younger.
Plus, he shows her being so in Weakness and laments her changing as he grew up. His focus on being in denial when it came to him wanting to be a pitied and loved weakling highlighting how as he got older, she pulled away. Not necessarily because she believed he needed less help but more than likely a mix of things including having another child to take care of, pets, and being what appears to be the main homemaker of the household.
At one point Haruka began acting out in order to garner attention from both of his parents. It can be speculated from the things we hear in Weakness that could be contributed to his father that bad behavior is usually what got his father's attention leading to him be reprimanded by him.
On the other hand, Haruka's relationship with his mother is more complicated. Leading into his focus on wanting to be a pitied and loved weakling. Since she was kinder to him when he was younger and couldn't do much on his own, he internalized the idea of weakness equating to getting attention.
It's possible that while growing up both of these attention seeking behaviors melded together distorting into the patterns he has now. Where he will do something usually jarring and violent to elicit a reaction out of those he's seeking attention from. Whether the response he gets is negative or positive doesn't matter as long as the response exists.
Ultimately before anything had occurred it's possible that general life circumstances led Haruka to feel as though him and his mother were growing apart,
"Tell me, why are you drifting away from me? Tell me, why do you say it’s my fault?"
Then his behavior in response to feeling that way only exacerbated the issue. Possibly putting a strain on their relationship that couldn't be fixed easily.
Because that's bound to happen when your kid is stealing your jewelry, destroying entire rooms of your home, killing your pets, and lastly killing your second child.
Tumblr media
"Even if I keep trying it, it’s broken right away. The things that aren’t here, and the unneeded things- Is it still living somewhere?"
A lyric that is a very direct callback to one earlier in the song,
"I am always repeating yesterday, though it’s important to know when to give up."
Ultimately everything that occurred led to Haruka's mother pretty much going damn your father might've been right. This is why in his first song Haruka is like I was denial about myself but after being voted innocent he's pretty much goes huh, I wasn't wrong then like I thought.
This way of thinking is alluded to in his first voice line trailer quote,
"Then what should I have done instead?! Tell me! Tell me, so even I can understand!"
Something Milgram answered by going nope that was totally the right call sorry you went through that. Then immediately reneged a trial later like actually-
Making his fit somewhat too well into the idea of the images within Undercover being the catalyst for the events that occurred and not the events themselves.
Kashiki, Yuno
Tumblr media
Luckily, we covered a bit about Yuno while discussing Haruka. Plus, she's the simplest to explain when it comes to this possible framing of events. Simply put since the second trial a lot of people are in my belief wrongfully assuming Yuno's murder was abortion. Because Es for as good as they claim to want to be at their job is really bad at their job.
Anyway, the image of Yuno in Undercover has nothing to do with the crime she is allegedly within Milgram for. Unless one believes she's throwing a baby over the railing of these steps, but I highly doubt that's the case. Chances are as brought up here Yuno is more than likely making a call to who she believes to be the father of the child. We hear snippets of this call throughout Umbilical-
"What do you want to do? Please tell me."- "I messed up-I found out."- "Are we over? Please don’t answer- What do you want to do? Please tell me."
Pregnancy symptoms are alluded to throughout both of Yuno's songs. Through lyrics such as,
"I feel a little weird, I’m still not used to feeling this way. I can’t get you out of my head. It’s a secret, ok?"- "Just the two of us, I feel a little tingle inside."
The very first line of her first song hints to the fact that she knew she was pregnant from the beginning and was keeping it a secret from the father. Something that is alluded to again in the same song,
"Just the two of us I finally found it. The lies are endless."
Throughout the song we see Yuno repeatedly blowing up this balloon while it develops throughout the video.
Tumblr media
And as we're shown her blowing up this balloon after the previous imagery she interjects asking,
"Am I a bad girl?" before saying, "Please, don't answer."
Then asks what the other persons wants to do and prompts them to answer.
This all alludes to the idea that Yuno in fact planned to get pregnant. Something she hints at during her second trial interrogation through saying,
"The result of doing a lot of sugar-babying: .... abortion. That's probably my murder. Well, please go ahead and bask in the truth you've been looking for so badly. How is it? Satisfied? Then, can we finish this up already?"
"You're not that surprised, huh? As I thought, you gathered at least that much from the song you extracted last time."
"Well, yes. As one possibility, I thought it was likely."
"I'm sure. Well, I had this inkling of a sensation that was how it was. I could feel it." - "I can hear throughout Milgram- Everybody else probably can too. These voices peeking, digging around, talking about my sins."
Tear Drop- "So nauseating...so creepy...will you please disappear? “Phew. Anyway!”."
Yuno blatantly admits to hearing what the audience has been saying regarding her case over the course of the intermission and that all the prisoners have been hearing it. Meaning they have all had time to build the appropriate response to the fans many assumptions and work them further in their favor or out of it depending on the verdict they want.
This is why It's Not My Fault was as panicked as it was because Mu heard the very active and consistent back and forth between viewers about her actions. Along with probably seeing holes poked into her story in real time as people went back over information during the wait for trial two to start. Giving her more reason to share her worries with Haruka about remaining Innocent especially after the Guilty prisoners were jumped by Kotoko.
Yuno so flippantly mentions her abortion because she's already aware people think that's what her murder was. However, even then she doesn't even fully commit to the idea saying, "That's probably my murder." despite alluding to it being the case within her first voice drama, "Well that thing I was doing which seemingly could be called "murder" - would be my first guess."
Because it's quite simply the easiest conclusion to draw her video is named Umbilical, she knows this the title and her name is stamped all over it. She refers to herself as the composer in her second voice drama,
"We verified the answers regarding what I did, right? So, what else is there? Reason, motive, the feelings of the composer- How about you just consider them to your liking?"
Yuno is very aware of what's going on and how people are interpreting her.
"I'm not pitiable. My family gets along super well. I'm also not particularly struggling for money. I decided to do the things I did of my own free will because they were what I felt were necessary for me."
"Well, even if I was scorned by you; I would have been okay with being told I wasn't forgiven. I don't believe I'm not in the wrong. So, I'd have accepted it. Despite that you arbitrarily assumed things about me and sympathized with the idea of me you had. Even though all I did was make a rational decision of my own free will."
"I'm sorry but that's the sort of thing Milgram is."
"Then, I hate Milgram."
She's aware of her own feelings regarding what she chose to do and doesn't care about the morals or ethics attached to what she did.
"Ah... I don't have much interest in things like ethics and morals. Doesn't that sort of stuff not make your stomach plump?"- "No, but seriously I do think so... There are a lot of people who waste their lives going, "I must uphold these ethical and moral standards" only to end up constrained and miserable. People like that should just live in a more easygoing way."-
"Yes, yes- Of course, I think criminal offenses fundamentally aren't good. Yet, immoral acts that don't cause anyone misfortune do exist, right? Ya know, like being a sugar-baby; That sort of thing tends to be viewed as ethically wrong, so I hid it but... Can someone really be troubled by another person doing that? It's a win-win sort of thing, isn't it?"
"It's as I said before, I have no intent to pursue the rights and wrongs of your acts outside of murder. However, the reality is that this is connected to your murder."
"Hm... that's true. I have no intent to say that abortion isn't murder. I'm a respectable murderer."- "It's not like I'm trying to win some debate. I'm just saying what I think."
Prisoners can lie during their interrogations. Milgram spends the entirety of the first trial reiterating this repeatedly. Yuno knows how sensationalized things can get and the sort of response saying such a thing could elicit.
Yuno tells us this during her first written interrogation,
Q.10 Can you speak any languages other than Japanese?
Haruka: That’s impossible.
Yuno: “I can’t speak English!”
Her answer is written in English though and she very specifically says she can't speak it. Meaning she is possibly fully capable of reading it or understanding people who speak it to her. She's just not capable of speaking it back. This answer show's us she can write in English most would assume okay well maybe she only knows how to write that and nothing else just as a precaution. However, if that isn't the case that would mean Yuno not only understands the Japanese speaking viewers but the English-speaking ones as well.
Couple this with how she highlighted the way certain topics are sensationalized by the news outlets in her first interrogation- Well, she would probably be aware abortion is one of those sensationalized topics. It's not like that's a big secret that's only limited to the states. If she kept the sugar-baby thing a secret because of how it's viewed why would she so blatantly put the topic of abortion on full display from the beginning?
More than likely because she believed it would be the easiest way to secure the verdict she wanted while compromising herself the least. Instead, the response to her behavior only made her annoyed because instead of it being about her choice it was framed as a look at how pitiful this girl is.
And the one thing she hates,
Q.16 Do you have anyone you hate?
Haruka: I don’t have the right to do that.
Yuno: People who like to lecture you.
Yuno's is the most difficult to figure out a timeline of because we're not shown many moments of her actual life during her mvs. However, it's implied that she was pregnant throughout her first mv and second. From the lyrics and imagery within both. We see her going through what could be symptoms of pregnancy during Tear Drop.
Plus, if the balloon is meant to represent her pregnancy, then Milgram expressly shows it developing over the course of Umbilical. Starting out empty going to partially full then being popped. Since there is a heart within the balloon shown during Umbilical that means she was at least three to four weeks pregnant at the time. In Japan you can have an abortion up to 22 weeks after one's last menstrual cycle. So, still within her legal rights to get this thing out of her, it is still not murder as she goes over in her voice drama.
However, if she knew from the beginning of Umbilical as it can imply why wait at all. Even during the part she's singing I messed up I found out she's chuckling in the background. Doesn't help that right before that part she goes the lies are endless.
Yuno's strange circumstances lend themself well to the catalyst idea because we know for certain whatever she did could not have happened on these stairs in broad daylight. Unless she's taking abortion medication in which case it could have but that's stretching it even by my standards. It seems more likely she was calling someone and there are more allusions to that being the case than anything else.
Given the idea that the pregnancy was already going on throughout Umbilical and Tear Drop there is a chance that whatever Yuno did that could count as murder outside of her abortion happened after it.
Making this conversation on the steps about what to do regarding her pregnancy and the asking of "Are we over? Please, don’t answer." the catalyst for what may have occurred after the abortion. Something that could tie into Yuno asking if she's dead at the end of her second trial interrogation.
Kajiyama, Futa
Tumblr media
Look it's getting long so I'm gonna speed run. Is what I would say if that wasn't unfair to everyone else outside of the first two- Let's do this "Justice assemble! Till the end!" as he says.
Now, while many people could go- Futa is shouting his victim to death this is clearly a creative illustration of the amount of harassment he sent this person's way slowly but surely weighing them down into taking their own life. This is also supported by the lyric,
"We will expose you all by whipping you with words until you are bruised. You won’t stop regretting!"
Shedding a light on how toxic this sort of mentality can be and how it ends up creating more victims than it protects.
Blah, blah, blah that's boring I want him to kill a man- You're dealing with the person that went man wouldn't it be sick if after all this we find out Futa the "known coward" set a building on fire with people in it. He can't directly confront people and all the fire imagery certainly isn't helping his case-
People can be like that's not morally ambiguous no one would vote him innocent if he did that. Well, lol I know one person who would every day of the fucking week. I told this to a friend who went "If he burned down a building it's the building's fault and their residents for not keeping it up to code. They should have had fire alarms and extinguishers at a point this is on the building owner."
So, it's just the right amount of ambiguous mixed with could you really fucking let it go be like ahn fine it's okay I guess. Look I had to deal with hearing that Kotoko's murder could be an accident if she just beat the man within an inch of his life and he died later at the hospital.
At this point I could rightfully go, "Tch...well we can't blame Futa at a point it's the elements fault. I mean maybe he just meant to scare them. He didn't know the fire would spread that fast come on his second song is called Backdraft." I've just accepted I don't need to be reasonable here sometimes I can just have fun. However, all of these are equally valid points except for mine which we have established is just for fun.
There is a precedent for it given one of the murderers Yamanaka wrote in the past did the exact thing I described because he was too afraid to kill one guy face to face- So, instead was like the fire will sort this I'll just commit arson it's simple and from a distance. It's in gods hands now, lol.
However, once again this doesn't even hold a candle to the truth here. Let me spin you a tale but first let me ask you some questions,
How do we know Futa is a coward? Because he says so? But he also says this-
20/06/23
Futa: Old man, don’t just laze around so carefree like that. Haven’t you thought about how to break out from here? With your physique, you can probably take out the guard and escape, right?
Kazui: Ahh…… Ok, let’s put it this way. You got caught up in a bank robbery, and the culprit has blocked off the police. From a glance, they look pretty weak, and don’t seem to be holding any weapons. Would you try to arrest them yourself?
Futa: ……if it looked like I’d be able to, then I would. You said they’re weak and don’t have any weapons, right? Everyone else in the building’s life is on the line. Those who can fight should fight.
Kazui: Haha, I wouldn’t recommend that. Even if they look weak, they might actually be a lot stronger. They might have an accomplice hiding somewhere. And they might not look like they have a weapon but could easily be hiding a gun. ……you shouldn’t act until you have absolute confidence in your assessment. So, for now I’m going to sit back and assess the situation. And on that note, I’m off for a smoke~
Futa isn't a coward in the sense people conflated him to be. He's more than willing to act brashly and on truly little information if he believes it's for the right reasons. If he has a cause to fight for he'll get his ass moving and do just that. This is why in his second voice drama he's quick to assume Kotoko is being used by Es because this habit of his has gotten him used before.
Then what cowardice is being referred to when it comes to Futa.
It's the cowardice of self-reflection. He's a coward because he doesn't want to face the outcome of his own choices and reflect on his actions. He'd rather simply state he was on the side of Justice and not examine it any further than that. In the same vein he doesn't want other's question his behaviors either because then he'd be forced to interrogate them himself.
This is something illustrated with how he answers questions regarding his life and future.
Trial 1
Q.15 What do you want to become in the future?
Futa: In the modern era, whatever I do is useless anyway- I’m just going along with the flow.
Mu: I’m going to think about it after I go to university.
Trial 2
Q.15 What's your dream for the future?
Futa: I'm not a little kid! I don't have stuff like dreams. Trying hard is useless in today's society.
He shifts the blame to the state of society now a days to avoid reflecting on his own undetermined nature. Probably thinking it's easier to not try than to put in the effort and end up being disappointed. Instead of reflecting on his self- he's quick to look for outward excuses for his lack of motivation and general disinterest.
Being voted Guilty in the first round of Milgram forced him to change this aspect of himself. Because literally he had no choice but to, he was bombarded with other people's opinions on his actions twenty-four seven which forced him to reflect on if what he did was bad to him or not. Something we've yet to see the conclusion to.
This is alluded to within Undercover through the lyric,
"“UNDER” Hiding and seeking from sin. Bring it, submit, and also shut your trap!" /"“UNDER” I am playing hide and seek from the sin I committed. You should all give up and shut up."
The lyric change better highlights Futa's mentality of wanting to do these things for fun but not wishing to be held accountable for them. Through highlighting he's not only hiding from his sin but seeking out the sins of others.
This is shown within his first character trailer distorted voice line,
"Everyone else was having fun, weren't they? What about them? Why is it just me?"
Futa covering Salamander during his second trial is really fitting. As he sheds off the resent filled cover of Mozaik Role to highlight his more pleasure-seeking personality. Still chasing that high having some form of power gave him and clearly trying to get that power back again.
"Hot is good; don't you think so? Is it a big deal? Hey, isn't the word "but" not not good? Want to hear the word "more"- It's heating up inside my head!"
Mixed with his voice drama where he compares the voice of the audience to himself and contrasting it to Backdraft you get a good mix of the sort of person Futa has become through his guilty verdict.
"I’m sick of this! If you sin, you need to do more than atone. It’s karma dude!"/ "You apologize if you do something wrong, you learn that even before words, don’t you? All evil hypocrites should disappear I won’t stop until you say “sorry”."
"Is it all ok if I offer penance? No helping it, out of the question."/ "With just one mistake and I’m out of chances- Bless me, please, with one more chance. It’s not even my fault, not even slightly."
"You already knew, the whole time. You can’t escape, how do you like the taste of punishment? Bring it on! Those who believe in justice assemble! You gotta be kidding! I’m the real hero!"
"Why are the others INNOCENT? I won’t forgive, won’t forgive. This prison hosts ears and lethal eyes, I’m sick of it! You and you, throwing around rules for fun, hoisting up morality and feeling good! Should I succumb, make your wish come true? Full of yourselves, are you?"
"You already noticed right? What you gonna do? Bring it on! Those who believe in justice assemble! You gotta be kidding, I’m an undead hero!"-
"Pick up your mouth-piece grind your teeth and strike a pose!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Just like O2, burn yourselves into oblivion- Burn, burn! Open this door and check if you want to; I’ll deign to hear your last words if you want, a vanishing FIRE!"
He's still grinding his teeth and striking a pose yet this time instead of looking down he's facing things head on.
"Can’t help but laugh, can’t help but laugh- Don’t get cocky, you in that cypher!"- "Bust out, explode that counter uppercut! Tolerate, impress those spectators." - "Holler-holler from safety, so worthless- The fight’s up here! Come up to the ring and face me!"
A back and forth between showing remorse and indignation at being judged by people he knows for a fact would do the same thing he did. Because they're doing it to him right now. The refusal to apologize to the audience but honest onus and display of remorse through the line-
"Tears aren’t enough, no way no how it’s going to end It’s so hot, so hard to breath, there’s no solace for my heart."
The very tangible feeling of getting remorse coupled with that feeling of but admitting my faults to you that won't change a thing that won't bring anyone back so why should I do such a thing just to make you feel good? Like,hell-
"Should I succumb, make your wish come true? Full of yourselves, are you?"
Showing that while Futa has grown from his verdict to an extent finding himself and his own values. That doesn't mean he's willing to repent to us a bunch of uninvolved spectators.
The timeline of events for Futa is rather simple; we see throughout Bring It On that the incident with the hat girl triggered something. It's framed as causing a falling out between him and his party leaving him on his own. Something visually represented through his team disappearing at the end of Bring It On.
Futa points out the fact that he's wrongfully being punished for the actions of many from the beginning of Milgram. However, as we know from the light novel despite it not being written by Yamanaka and it being its own spin on the concept that no one is brought to Milgram for actions done by a group.
Each of the characters within the Milgram Light Novel are brought into Milgram for their own individual actions or lack thereof including the guard.
Torch- Stood holding the door instead of allowing help to get to the roof top leading to a classmate's death.
Close- Decided to withhold pertinent information that could have allowed the situation to resolve earlier for her own personal gain. After the fact revealed said pertinent information leading to another avoidable death. Ultimately leading to the deaths of multiple people.
Two-sides- Directly incited the incident that led to all these events occurring and then upon seeing things not go how he wanted doubled down instead of just stopping.
Nervous- Literally stabbed and killed someone. Very purposely even if it was a result of the incidents that had taken place.
Gentle- Stabbed a man except it should be noted the person he stabbed was implied to be a notorious serial-killer that was attempting to kill another woman.
Es- Despite knowing who was causing the incident and about multiple other issues within the story, she decided to remain as uninvolved as possible in what is later heavily implied an attempt to preserve not only her peace of mind but her own self-image. As she is the one to ask Torch to not open the door leading to her own death because she didn't want anyone taking pictures of her in that state.
Note how none of these actions are in no way tied to a group. Throughout the light novel we see that the entire class was involved in the harassment of this student to various degrees. However, these several are in Milgram because unlike those around them who were reacting, they made the choice to behave in this manner. At no point were any of their hands forced.
Yuno's second voice drama specifically harps on this idea of personal choice as well. So, it's not out of left field or anything.
So, taking into consideration all that why would Futa's murder be a group activity? That he himself implied from the beginning wasn't even done of his own accord. It's not- That hat girl situation is just a smokescreen a vanishing fire to cover up and justify what he really did.
I recently interrogated why Mahiru would only show us her alleged boyfriend on day 14- Now, let's interrogate why Futa would highlight something he to his own admission didn't do. Because in his mind that incident justifies what he did do. Futa comes into Milgram with the attitude that it's important for adults and those who are strong to protect those younger and weaker than they are.
His entire first song is about stopping once someone apologizes. Yet, for some reason he flippantly goes oh thanks for the late excuses when this person attempts to explain what happened. Even if it's clearly not the truth of the situation for multiple reasons and it's not an apology why would Futa jump from that to doxing her?
It's not the mentality he pushes throughout the lyrics of Bring It On-
"I won’t stop until you say “sorry”."-"Found one…! Countdown till I make you say sorry."
Easy he wouldn't- Futa's murder isn't the hat girl incident it's the result of running into an incident that made him realize an apology simply wasn't enough-
"You gotta be kidding, I’m an undead hero- Fuck it! Don’t you think so? You won’t be forgiven, a coward, never!"- "Tears aren’t enough, no way no how it’s going to end It’s so hot, so hard to breath, there’s no solace for my heart."
Meaning the coward being referred to by him in Bring It On isn't himself as people initially interpreted but the person who didn't even have the courage to behave in this way under their own fucking name. Whoever Futa knew was responsible for this incident is someone he'd never accept an apology from.
Instead, he did what was illustrated in Backdraft and went the eye for an eye route-
Tumblr media
People seem to forget that Milgram isn't just about ethics and morality- because people tend to fail to recognize adhering to such things is a personal choice to begin with. Instead, most mistakenly assume that it's the right thing to do, anyone should behave with those things in mind; it's a good person's duty to do so.
One should try their best to not hurt others and if they do mistakenly or purposely always take onus of their mistakes apologize and try to do better in the future. I mean apologizing is one of the first things you learn how to do in life.
This mentality is remarkably similar to Futa's before the incident. Yet, how do you think someone like that responds when that good mannered nature and naive way of thinking is manipulated not only to be weaponized against them but doing irreversible harm to someone else in the process.
It's enough to make a person go well fuck it you brought it to this level you can fucking die on it. Weird hill to die on but at least they're dead. This is why Futa while repentant, is comfortable judging the outcomes our actions led to and not forgiving those.
"I’m in the same boat as you, and yet– and yet— You didn’t forgive me, did you!? What did I do? All I did was say that what’s wrong is wrong! I was just going off at a bad person online! I didn’t even take it as far as to be violent towards them, unlike what you’re doing right now!"
He admits to going off at someone online- But just like Yuno when it comes to her having an abortion Futa already knows that's what the majority thinks led to his murder. Because the audience has been yelling at him for it throughout the entirety of the intermission.
It's easy for him to admit this, especially since the people judging him and others have taken what he was believed to have done further than he ever could have.
"But all I know is the outcome of them being dead! There’s no way to know whether that had anything to do with my actions, is there?!"
Futa only knows that the person he and his friends were calling out online died. He only saw the outcome. This is something we're shown through the ending of Bring It On.
During the attack on the hat girl in bring it on the hit counter distorts at 1024- even though we are visually shown that Futa has stopped attacking. This is different from the other raids he took part in where the hit counter stops at a certain point.
Ya know there's a funny thing in regard to hit counters in raids in multiplayer games. Some mmorpgs not only count individual hits but the group amount of hits as well.
This is displayed as being the case in Bring It On by Futa's hit count becoming greater as his group becomes larger.
Tumblr media
He first starts in a pair of two then a group of nine including himself. Then he seems to remain with that group as the video progresses his level increases over the course of the video as well going from 21 to 132 by the end of the video.
However, the most interesting things in Futa's first video are the mapping in the bottom left corner, the warning that appears during the final raid, and the congratulations screen.
All these things put together give us a very clear explanation for what occurred before Futa committed murder.
Tumblr media
MISSION COMPLETE- CONGRATULATIONS YOU BROUGHT JUSTICE TO THE WORLD!!!
WARNING CONGRATULATIONS! REDACTED YOU BROUGHT JUSTICE TO THE WORLD!!!
WARNING CONGRATULATIONS? REDACTED YOU BROUGHT REDACTED TO THE WORLD???
Trial Two Written Interrogation
Q.06 Do you remember the name of the person you killed?
Futa: I'm pretty sure I do. I saw it often after all.
The person whose name is redacted here- The person Futa is being warned about bringing justice to the world is more than likely the one responsible for the finishing blow to the hat girl/the doxing. The second name being redacted here for bringing something that is also redacted to the world is more than likely Futa.
These lines in Bring It On being a direct response to this warning screen-
"You already noticed right? What you gonna do? Bring it on! Those who believe in justice assemble! You gotta be kidding! I’m the real hero!"
Right before Futa's team disappeared. His team's disappearance could not only represent him being abandoned by them/these people cutting ties with him after the incident but him being kicked from the party or guild for whatever this warning was about.
Leading to this line-
"Fuck it! Don’t you think so? You won’t be forgiven, a coward, never! Let’s keep on winning till the end! Assemble! Assemble!"
As Futa literally assembles as a party of one this time to face off against the team that not only abandoned him but left him responsible for their actions-
"Applause receding far away- Me, the result of blame-shifting, no, can’t find that funny."
As we can see from the distorted map during the 1024 hit count image, as Futa is falling back another blue dot has appeared near the target. Making it appear as though he spawned in again. This is representative of someone logging into his twitter account from another location. I believe this to be the case because it isn't possible to my knowledge for two people to use the same gaming account at the same time.
This is why there's an understated feeling of cockiness in Backdraft,
"Burn, burn! Open this door and check if you want to; I’ll deign to hear your last words if you want, a vanishing FIRE!"
Because Futa succeeded in highlighting and gauging what he wished to. He deliberately brought the focus to the incident with the hat girl to test if we would react to the incident in the same way he did. After recognizing we in fact would punish someone to an extreme extent over that sort of incident, he became more comfortable in blatantly displaying himself as a victim in the situation as well-
"Flames closing in, are both sides losers? Flames closing in, can’t douse this FIRE!"
Instead of understating it through visuals and considerably vaguer lyrics as he did in Bring It On,
"You already knew, the whole time. You can’t escape, how do you like the taste of punishment?"
He literally tanked the hit just to win the game and everybody fell for it. Which is the funniest shit.
Star said, "I guess you could call this a pyrrhic victory." something that really calls back to his line of-
"You gotta be kidding, I’m an undead hero."
Tumblr media
"A false accusation full of mistakes- You would probably smile and be pleased."- "Even with accusations full of faults and mistakes- You will for sure, with a smile for sure be pleased and satisfied."
Futa is better at planning than people give him credit for. What now is anyone going to back out? What about those ethics and morals all of you were toting around so proudly?
"If you get off now, you're a traitor."
Jumping ship over something like this is as good as saying that girl's life didn't matter right. So,
"Just like O2, burn yourselves into oblivion."
Q.20 Do you believe what you did was justified?
Futa: In no way, and I know that. But it's not just me right, you all are doing the same.
Outside of that, we know from how we see Mu in It's Not My Fault, Haruka within All-knowing All-Agony, and Mikoto within MeMe that the positions we see the prisoners in during Undercover are really how they committed their murders.
Sidenote rip Kazui by the way- He's totally not having a good time if this is the case. This means we just may not have seen the others in those positions yet. We still can though, depending on their mindsets when the song is extracted. Just like we did with Mu and Haruka this trial.
Because ego is an incredibly fragile thing after all.
If the other's get cocky or even a little bit perturbed during their interrogation, they could easily think of themselves in a negative light landing them in the same hotseat as Haruka and Mu. This is also why Futa's first voice drama highlights the fact that we can't tell what a person is thinking based off their body language alone.
After taking all this into consideration and coupling it with the fact that Futa would have either seen a recording device within the interrogation room or known he was being recorded one could argue that he was playing up his nerves even if he was genuinely nervous on some level to make himself seem stupider, brasher, and more cowardly than he is.
Both his songs have a heavy focus on information gathering and distribution. Even when discussing the bank heist scenario with Kazui he makes sure to ask-
"You said they’re weak and don’t have any weapons, right?"
Pair that with how he answers this question-
Q.06 If you suddenly had a large amount of money, what would you use it on?
Futa: It depends on exactly how much. Be more specific with the setting.
This shows that Futa despite how he presents, is unwilling to act until he has a precise grasp of the situation but he's still willing to jump to conclusions based on the observations of others. Misconstruing Kazui's words when he says the robbers look unarmed to them being that. In a case full of uncertainty where normal logic seems to be out the window Futa continues to gather information in his own discrete way.
Because when it comes to callouts and smear campaigns the most important thing is making the one attacking you look worse than what they're making you out to be. This means getting dirt on them before they even have anything of merit on you. Something he did to resounding success even though it cost him quite a bit.
Kusunoki, Mu
Tumblr media
Now this one I am going to shorten. I will be pulling a trial two Futa and minding my business.
Mu's murder was outside this is one of the things that remains consistent over the course of her mvs. The image highlighted within Undercover is something that takes place within the school. Not in any of the prominent locations we see over the course of her mv. We know that it's Mu herself lying on the floor between the desks because every other image within Undercover is of the prisoner.
There's also a sheet of paper in her desk with blood on it that references this line from her first trial song,
"Postmortem makeup to hide my heart, how to solve it is a secret. The stabbing of the little devil’s voice, counterattack being a suicide note."
Meaning this scene could be the counterattack and sorry spells she was referring to within her first mv.
This would make Mu's timeline a possible victim to bully transformation. She states she was picked on because of her looks before and we see instances of someone we know is her being bullied. The only thing we have that is contrary to this framing is Mu's own words in It's Not My Fault,
"I told you I’m queen, and it’s always the same."
Except, well- she's sort of a known liar. So, this could very well be a lie. This is more than likely why the song focuses heavily on individuals who want to betray her out of jealousy. If she took her spot from someone else, she'd probably be afraid of ending up at the bottom again even more.
This is why she says this,
"Don’t hate me. Don’t even try to proof from “After Pain”."
Not just to hint at the inconsistencies within the visuals of her first song that highlight her lies but the ones that highlight the truths she didn't want anyone to know. That she was a victim and being one was so terrible for her that it made her want to die- and as a result she was willing to do anything to not be that again even if that meant making someone else a victim.
That's why from the beginning Mu's claimed what she did was self-defense because in her mind it really was a case of them or her.

Shidou was really throwing down- Not the time, I know. It's just after everyone else I'm getting kind of tired. I've been writing this answer since I received it.
I'm so tired that I'm more half in, half out of this post than Kazui is to any sort of commitment. I'm super tempted to end this at Kazui and be done then go play some video games. So, I'm probably going to do that.
Shidou's timeline of events has been mostly figured out. It seems that Shidou was apart of a household of some sort. At some point the matriarch of this household fell ill or got into an accident of some sort. It is implied that Shidou was taking the organs of what appears to be brain dead patients however they could have also been in vegetative or comatose states. He did this through convincing the family members of said patients that the patient had no chance of recovery.
He admits to this being close to the case in his second voice drama but does not commit to the idea fully. Again it should be noted that just like everyone else Shidou has been hearing the audience discuss his case over the course of the intermission and has had ample time to concoct a response. None of these things have anything to do with the way we see him in either of his shots in Undercover.
We see him pretty much gut checking Es and the image of his hands within the video seem to be from after a surgery had been performed or outside of when a surgery had taken place. As his tools are scattered across a wet table and the tray that held them is turned over.
Once again supporting the idea that the image is from before a crime had ever even taken place. Since we are artfully shown Shidou committing his crime repeatedly throughout Throw Down. Yet, in that video his tools are never shown to be in such disarray.
Shiina, Mahiru
Tumblr media
I don't believe Kazui's frame from Undercover helps Mahiru's case in any way but we'll go into that when we get to the last man standing.
We see Mahiru in a wooded area holding someone's hand or her own. Throughout her first mv we see her in two wooded areas. The park she confessed to the person she was interested in at where we see her sitting on one of the park benches and the park that they go to the screening of the French film at.
We do not know if these places are where Mahiru committed her murder at or not. All This Is How To Be In Love With You shows us is that Mahiru saw something that she did not like when she woke up at home after cooking him that meal. However, this something is implied to be her murder but just like with Futa before her she could be focusing more on the inciting incident than what she did.
Which seems to be the case since she spends the entirety of her first trial song going over how her relationship with this person started. It is also implied through her diary entries that other people could have been involved at various points.
So, her victim could be someone outside of her boyfriend is what I would say if Mahiru didn't admit to killing him/someone she loved in her trial one interrogation-
"Very well does your homicide stim from love to?"
"..."
"I... guess it did. I think it was love."
"So, because of love you killed someone?"
"I suppose... you're right."
"I see. So, you became a murderer as a result of some relationship conflicts? Jealousy, grudges, having your partner stolen from you. Those type of stories aren't that uncommon now, are they?"
"You're wrong. It wasn't that. I... never even wanted to kill in the first place! I just... I was...just being myself." -
"It's because I've... decided that I'm going to live for the sake of love."- "Being in love is... If there was no such thing as love my life would be so bland. So, if you say that I won't be allowed to love anymore, then there's no point in me living."
"Even if you're love killed someone?"
"You're so mean, aren't you?"
“It was your love that killed someone, right? Despite that will you still try to love another person?”
“Actually, I was hoping that you could tell me the answer to that, prison guard. If what I did was unforgiveable.”- “If my love could possibly kill someone then I… shouldn’t ever love another person again, I guess. Hey, please, tell me prison guard- If I love someone, is that something unforgiveable?”
Mahiru blatantly rejects the idea that she would kill another person out of jealousy due to a grudge, or because her partner was stolen from her by someone else. Now she could be lying especially considering how she views cheating-
Q.03 Have you ever cheated on someone?
Shidou: I haven’t.
Mahiru: Of course not! How could you ever cheat on someone!? Right!?
However, pushing that to the side from the very beginning Mahiru has asserted that she views her crime as something that was done for love and out of love. To the extent that she's now willing to live her life for the sake of that love alone.
Something she believes everything can be sacrificed for.
Q.06 What is worth sacrificing for the sake of love?
Shidou: Everything.
Mahiru: Everything.
She also admits to only having one significant other and states that she would like to bring the person she loves back from the dead. If she knows it was her love that killed someone to the extent that she wants Milgram to tell her if what she did was wrong or not and worries about killing someone with her love again,
"My heart skipped a beat." - 'I... guess I love people who are so enthusiastic about their work."- "Ah, this isn't good. Be careful, okay? Um...um... If you're that kind to me, you could die as well. Just-kidding."
Then it's safe to say that the person she killed was someone she loved regardless of if it was the boyfriend or not.
For the most part when Mahiru answered,
Q.14 If there was one person you could bring back from the dead, who would you choose?
Shidou: I can’t choose.
Mahiru: The person I love.
People assumed this meant her romantic partner but as we've come to see with Shidou they could be using love as a blanket term to remain vague about their circumstances. It's pretty telling that these two are the only ones who were not asked about their family structures during the first trial. This is possibly because asking such a thing would be giving away too much too early. So, they held off on asking them that.
Yet, Milgram does show us that Mahiru does have an interest in family. She's particularly obsessed with raising a family of her own. This is why unlike Shidou who's grieving his losses Mahiru the one who has decided to live for the sake of love is already planning for what's next while seemingly looking for the best partner to take on that challenge with.
Q.07 Is there anyone you’d leave behind if you died?
Shidou: Not any more.
Mahiru: Nobody yet~
Q.17 If you had to describe yourself with an animal, what would it be?
Shidou: A ray, maybe. I don’t have any particular reason, I just like them
Mahiru: Penguin! The way they raise a child together as a couple is wonderful!
Mahiru states during trial one that there's nothing for her to do at home anyhow. Which should clock as odd to everyone given, we see that she's a college student within her mv, she claims to be getting an allowance from her family who she could visit if she wanted to, and we see her go to what she claims to be a relative's wedding.
Not even going into the hobbies she does have- college alone is something to do. So, why did she say this?
Also, there's this voice line as well,
"Don’t say you like someone so flippantly! It’ll disappear…… words like “love,” don’t use them!"
Making it possible that the person she liked more than likely found someone else and she conflated this to cheating/betrayal for some reason despite them not dating. This would make the timeline of events roughly along the lines of what we're shown in This Is How To Be In Love With You.
Mahiru falls in love at first sight with someone that goes to the same school as her after starting university. She's still getting acclimated to the new environment as she states she just moved to Tokyo. She gets situated in a flower shop job she'd had her eye on for a while and finds a hairdresser she likes.
Things are going well but she keeps seeing this guy around town. She views this as fate trying to give her a sign, but she can't find the right opportunity to talk to him. She's a bit shy hanging back trying out the bread she happened to see him buy at one of the stores to feel closer to him. Nothing to out of the norm for someone going through a crush. Just hoping maybe one day he'll come in the flower shop and buy something then they can start talking that way.
But then the best thing happens they start talking on campus casually. Her not wanting to lose this chance hastily says I'm interested in running too can we maybe do it together sometime seeing this as an opportunity to get closer or at least see each other regularly.
Again, nothing too weird but in her head, she's holding onto this idea that they're meant to be together. She' falling more and more in love everyday why this guy just may view her as a friend. She confesses and gets turned down in the park, but they remain friends because as she shows us in This Is How To Be In Love With You she doesn't take the news too hard outwardly. Who knows maybe it will happen one day maybe he just doesn't know her well enough yet.
Plus, she's so happy when around him and doesn't want to go back to how bland her life was before. There'd be nothing to do, this is much better than the other option. They keep hanging out and Mahiru is just happy to be around him regardless of the circumstances. She can even call him in the middle of night just to talk sometimes, maybe even vent some frustrations or when she feels lonely.
Of course, she feels a certain way about it, she's waking him up and she falls asleep before he does. She's worried that he'll get annoyed They know each other's schedules, they go to places together a lot he's invited her over to his place and told her where he works. They're really close friends at this point.
Of course, Mahiru would want him to accept her love after everything he's done for her-
"”UNDER” I don’t just want to give. Both giving and receiving are good things."/"“UNDER” I don’t wanna just give. Giving and taking, this is how to be in love."
Isn't it funny that this is the lyric for her in Undercover but her answer to this question is,
Q.09 What do you want from a lover?
Shidou: I want them to stay healthy.
Mahiru: For them to accept my love! That’s all I ask for!
Her undercover lyrics highlight how she just doesn't want to give but she blatantly says she just wants the love she gives to be accepted. Showing that she wants to be able to give this love above all else. Even This Is How To Be In Love With You is about her constantly giving someone else love to the point of weighing them down. So, where is the taking part?
Could the taking part be her murder? Could that be why she sings this,
"Let’s have matching pain, this sickness is pretty bad."
Not because they had matching pain but because she wanted to make sure they did. It's possible that Kazui and Mahiru may have killed someone other than their alleged significant others but given the information provided to us it seems unlikely. Especially with Mahiru's voice lines.
"Don’t say you like someone so flippantly! It’ll disappear…… words like “love,” don’t use them!" "It's love. This is love!" "Ehehe...I love, love, LOVE YOU!! Don't ever let me go, ok!"
With Yuno, Futa, and Kazui we've seen other parties alluded to however with Haruka, Mu, and Mahiru we have yet to see any other people they could have possibly killed. Hell, we haven't even seen the face of Mahiru's alleged boyfriend. So as of now it's a bit difficult for me to say with certainty if she may have killed someone other than him or not.
I can only say it certainly is a possibility but for the reasons above and the ones beneath here I don't believe it's likely.
Mukuhara, Kazui
Tumblr media
Some people say that there's a person on the ground in front of Kazui and on his lap during the Undercover image making this the scene of the murder included later on. However, there's just not enough shadow for that to be the case unless this is a child. The other shadow within the image doesn't structurally match that of a human either, appearing to be an object of some sort.
Possibly a bag or a bouquet of flowers. Meaning this is more than likely the aftermath of him being turned down by someone. Which would align with Kazui's first trial distorted voice line-
"I'm so dumb... Why did I have to dream?" and his second one as well, "Hinako, I love you more than anything." Along with this line from the second trial teaser, "Er, so…… could you listen to what I say without laughing? I……"
If one takes into consideration the voice lines could be out of order. The correct sequence of events. Confession- response to being rejected. Going something like,
"Er, so...could you listen to what I say without laughing? I... Hinako, I love you more than anything." then, "I'm so dumb...Why did I have to dream?"
This is also alluded to through the songs he covered. Coward Mont blanc a song about someone being too cowardly to tell someone else their true feelings as a result their relationship to that person has become estranged and is only hurting them and causing them to form resentments towards the other unsuspecting party,
"All these memories and you- Only if I could erase them."/ "If I can just forget about it, it will disappear; my own reflection."
"Please tell me what I should do, feelings shrouded in lies will float away and disappear."/ "Now it's just fading away, out of my sight, although I'm still sure it's still somewhere right here."
"The curse of reuniting with you puts a dagger in my heart." /"Once again, I will fall into you while thinking that it's fine for it to be true. I still hope- "Please, let it be a lie." Because the answer spat out was that I was still a coward mont blanc."
"We’ll laugh together and call each other stupid names. So many things I wish I hadn't known, I'm just a coward."/ "Please put me to sleep with my burning inner voice- It's fine for it to be true. Since I can't go back or I will get scared again."
"If I were to make sure and suffer, I would rather be by your side. Laughing together, side by side, this distance in our relationship is misleading me, is this what happiness is?"/"This mont blanc is so sweet I want to drown in its sweetness with my bare feet."
"What I gave up a long time ago, why is it questioning me now? So many things that I should now have known, I'm just a coward."/"You are inside, and the cycle goes on and on. In an effort to answer that- I will gasp."
Then Neo-Neon is literally more of the same thing-
A song seemingly about continuing to be friends with someone after not having one's feelings reciprocated because you still want them in your life.
"Going in circles, Neo-Neon- I should have said the truth if it's going to be like this." - "e.g If the person who apologizes first is the bad one. I will make myself the devil and say, "I'm sorry" a million times- If it makes you smile from the heart."
All of Kazui's songs be like man I should've sucked it up and said, "I'm sorry but I'm in love with you and I know you'll never feel the same but I can't go the rest of my life keeping this to myself." instead he decided to take a minor miscommunication and commit murder over it. That already would warrant a wow honestly sucks to be him that's rough buddy.
However, it gets worse given the picture in Undercover and his voice lines it seems Kazui did confess. This is why he appears to be on the ground dejected with some sort of gift at his side in Undercover. He was turned down this is the inciting incident that led him down this path. Certainly, other things may have occurred, but this is what he means by,
"Where did I go wrong, probably from the beginning?"
He's not referring to the start of his life but from the moment he decided to confess these feelings he had. This is what he meant by why did I have to dream? Why did he have to let himself believe there was a possibility this person would feel the same and the best he could do as an adult is take it on the chin and pretend it didn't hurt as much as it did to continue to keep this person in his life.
"If continuing to hide is called unhappiness, not even one word will get to you-"/"But I wanted to keep on shining to show you I can lie for you- "I'm sorry"."
So, once again there's just more than one way of framing this. Also, Kazui isn't helpful with this because literally if it was his wife dead in front of him during the undercover shot then where is the rest of her body.
Tumblr media
The mass next to Kazui is just too small to actually be another adult person and if we compare it to the depiction of his murder within the same video that's immediately apparent.
Es is a teenager and we can see their legs and head extend past Kazui's frame but the adult woman's doesn't. That just doesn't make sense. Even if the victim was laying straight down their head on Kazui's lap in that image we would see more of a silhouette than what we're given here.
Also, you can see the crease of a flower petal near the edge of the object and there are petals on the ground behind him too.
Tumblr media
It's for those reasons that I just don't see another person in his Undercover image and can't really understand how anyone else is. Star said unless this is a baby and Kazui's story is the opposite of Yuno's. However, I don't think it's that either even though it would be funny.

Saw the Bishagate video for the 1st time & I think he knew exactly what he was saying...
I am a late comer to Supernatural & all the behind the scene 'drama'. Having read about 'Bishagate' on Tumblr, I was curious to see the actual video where Misha makes his infamous 'I am all 3 statement'. I was expecting it to show him stumbling over his words & blurting out 'bisexual' by mistake (when in fact he meant to use a word such as 'ambivert'). But the video shows that this was no 'misspeaking'! he purposely uses the word 'bisexual' then pauses for effect to give the audience time to catch up with what he has just said, he looks a bit nervous and seems to be breathing heavily the smiles then says 'I am all 3''. He then uses the term bisexual AGAIN shortly after and says that it would have been weird of him to ask the audience about how many of them were bisexual from the start so he (bizarrely) chose to start with asking them about being introvert/extrovert... I mean WTF? how did so many people in the fandom/media actually believe & accept for a second his explanation that this was 'accidental' slip of the tongue, that things were 'out of context' and that he never meant to use the term 'bisexual'. He absolutely used bisexual on purpose and knew exactly what he was saying... So the only explanations I can think of for this mess is that he ever thought it was ''funny'' to pretend to be/joke about being bisexual to get some attention/publicity which is rather crappy (I am queer & I really don't appreciate that type of 'jokes') or he really meant what he said and for whatever reason decided to get back in the closet. Neither options are actually showing him in a great light & I find all this rather disappointing. I will continue to love the Castiel character but being asked to swallow this nonsense by the actor who plays him is not happening because it defies all logic when you watch the actual footage. The statement that Misha then put out on social media is also problematic because it starts with a claim that is simply not true: ''My clumsy intention was to wave off actually discussing my sexuality''. Again the video footage contradicts this. A fan asked a question about the Covid lockdowns and what Misha had learned about himself during that period which leads him to saying he discovered he was more of an extrovert than he thought. The fan's question made no reference to sexuality. Misha brings up bisexuality out of the blue, you can even hear someone in the audience say 'where did that come from?'. So if a statement starts with a lie, it is hard to then read anything else that it contains as truthful. Celebrities, like anyone else, don't owe others details about their sexuality but they do have a responsibility not to appropriate queerness as a marketing tool if they are not queer or to treat it as a joke. SPN has a long history of queer baiting and Misha should know better than to continue that sorry tradition. On the other hand if the reason for this mess was that he felt uncomfortable with the attention he received and decided to backtrack then that's incredibly sad. I also think that him claiming the network asked him to continue to pretend to be bi is misleading: instead it is very likely that their PR people pointed out that he had dug a rather large hole for himself and that the best way was to keep quiet, let the media interest die down & decline to comment further on his sexuality from then on. Because there was no way PR-wise that Misha could avoid a negative backlash if he had to admit that this was yet another queer-baiting stunt from him/he thought that joking about being bisexual was appropriate. This would also have brought the SPN existing queer baiting/homophobia issues under the spotlight and bring in more bad publicity for the network. To conclude I wish I had just continued to enjoy Supernatural, flawed, geeky but still funny & often moving, rather than look into the behind the scene (the conventions drama, the questionable behaviour/statements made by some of the actors) because it coloured the show negatively for me after that.

just throwing together some misc alan wake 2 thoughts now that ive slept and had coffee after finishing the game. mostly talking end game, obviously spoilers
alice. alice intrigues me so much. that final stinger is incredible, for multiple reasons. that reveal following the series of photos of her seemingly killing herself is just.. yeah. i think that was not only her way of trying to getting back to alan, who she knew was trapped in the dark place at the bottom of the lake, but it was also to throw scratch off, to think that he won by tormenting her to her death. theres no light flickers in the background of that final video. she is free of scratch, but still clearly safe. maybe back in the dark place, but tbh im not sure if she ever actually escaped it in the first place. shes going to leave the place with alan. she has to, because they are each others rocks. they sink or swim together (it would also explain why she was able to contact saga while she was in the dark place)
speaking of saga, her mind place version of the dark place was just *chefs kiss*. it was an incredible, worked really well to demonstrate not only the power the dark place has on people, but also what kind of a character she really is. strong and independent, but so good to those around her. i really wish we got deeper into her friend and partnership with casey tbh, after hearing about his divorce (which, btw, loved the extremely casual drop about him and estevez just "bonding over their ex wives". amazing job remedy) and especially seeing the birthday photo in the mind place just. my heart. i really wish we got more casey in general, but i guess him being included in the story beats and echo visions as a hardboiled detective just needs to be enough. for now i say knowing full well im gonna dive super deep into fanfics when my brain fog lifts a little ough
my one big question was door. and maybe tim to that extent, considering the last page we read and we never fully got an explanation about doors involvement (im hoping ng+ explains this further?) but it refers to tim as his "unwilling disciple" - obviously tim was moved to the dark place against his will, but at the same time, why exactly and what is he doing? hes been trying to get out, to figure it out, he has a whole whiteboard of theories and yet. it all leads to door. and idk maybe i missed it somehow, but i never fully made that connection as to why and what doors game here is. which leaves me with questions for the next game/sequel/dlc. intriguing, but throwing that in last minute just felt kinda. idk remedy dont do this to me lmao
one thing im admittedly a bit disappointed about was them choosing to sacrifice alan for the ending. i mean i get it, at the point where we think alice is dead and saga makes it very clear that neither casey nor logan can be hurt and that they are both the heroes of the story, theres not much options left. like alan said, the horror story needs a victim. but also idk, i wish we could. have had a choice? multiple endings?? which i guess ng+ teased but we'll see. also it being left unanswered whether we were free from the darkness now or not, which i understand was intentional but idk im still a bit miffed about that one lol. logan not answering the phone. however saga did have a wedding ring on her finger (i did not observe this detail before so idk if it was just always there but it felt very significant in this scene as they didnt show her being lefthanded before so) which makes me think everything did get fixed, considering how badly david hated her during points in the story, so why would she still wear her wedding ring after all those years after what happened if this wasnt the good reality again. just saying
ALSO IM JUST SO GLAD CASEY IS ALIVE. STUPID BASTARD MAN I LOVE HIM SO
"its not a loop, its a spiral" has interesting implications, but i miss "its not a lake, its an ocean" tbh. i feel like that ending revelation held more power to it than this one, it just feels like a rehash for the sake of copying the original. like i get what they mean about this one (its not a constant changing loop, its a developing story moving forward that keeps expanding as it goes even tho it feels like its going in circles), but just as a saying it doesnt stand up to the original. thats all
the way, even if they are sharing a skin, alan and scratch are two different characters (im excluding zane from this equation for reasons as i dont think he was real [im fairly convinced it was scratch playing games with alan just pretending to be zane], but i wanna give special props to ilkka villi for his portrayal. immaculate job) and are written that way. the way they talk, the lines they have, there is a significant difference when you pay attention to it - i think its partially alans way of trying to dodge the blame and put it all on scratch, whereas scratch doesnt do that for himself, hes just trying to play into the emotional manipulation angle with the constant rush instead to get what he wants and to get people on his side and to trust him. which is a really good take, considering that hes using all common scammer tactics to try to fool people into giving him what he wants (also just god the transformation scene when this is revealed? permanently tattooed in my brain that was so goddamn good)
its also a very interesting take that the cult is actually the good guys. i also just love ilmos explanation for it; "what kind of a cult calls themselves a cult" like. yeah. yeah man you got a point there. but that being just a cover and a scare tactic to keep people safe? love that shit that was good (kinda high key mad we didnt get more of them after that. only that one last sad tv commercial, would have loved to give them a good ending too)
also the parallel of alan waking up from getting shot to the head vs earlier zane doing to same thing at the second meeting in the hotel. i havent stopped thinking about it tbh
just. a few thoughts. all in all idk i felt like the ending was missing something tbh. maybe i just missed something, but it feels like it was more of a setup for something in the future with everything than an ending to a full game and a sequel 13 years after the original. i have too many questions left, more than i entered into this mess with. that being said, absolutely loved the game itself, the story is insane and incredible, this has once again rewired the way my brain thinks about stories (plot board my beloved......), theres so much underneath the surface of a survival horror game that cant be explained, it needs to be experienced. there are sequences here that im unable to convey in words and feelings, you need to see them for yourself ("we sing" and the movie theater. iykyk)
just in general that cliffhanger like. why you do me like this remedy. why. i cant wait for 13 years for another sequel. goddamn
the ending tho, im. i dont know. in the first game we knew things were still kinda wrong, but it showed that everyone outside of alan seemingly got out of the things unscathed for the most part (i mean we lost nightingale, rose went kinda loopy, there were signs that not everything and everyone was right but for the most part the town and people in it were safe), but here we dont see any of it. the happy deerfest is nothing but scratch's illusion. so idk if im meant to believe that shooting alan was the fix and everything went back to normal, like normal normal before this man was pulled into the lake, or since he was still seemingly alive after that, are we still living in the happy deerfest illusion forever while the darkness spreads to the land outside of it? i have so many questions and this ending didnt answer a lot of them tbh lmao
theres so much here i cant fit here my brains still very rattled from all of this and i keep getting more questions the longer i think about it so im gonna leave it here. i'll probably see you later with more when ng+ and/or dlc releases, as hopefully those will explain more
10/10, absolutely my game of the year ngl
..one thing to leave you with. fuck the boss fights in this game lmao

FNAF MOVIE THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.
I have never felt so conflicted over a movie in my life.
Okay, to give some perspective, there are two sides of me at play here:
1. Film/show critical
2. FNAF Fan
Disclaimer: when I refer to the books, I am referring to Fazbear Fright's and Tales of the Pizzaplex. When I refer to the trilogy, I mean The Silver Eyes, The Twisted Ones, and The Fourth Closet.
I'll be honest. Looking at it from my own critical standpoint, the FNAF movie was not very good. The story was very convoluted, and yes, I am aware that I'm complaining about the convoluted plot of a movie based on the convoluted plot video game. But the thing is, I am an enjoyed of both the games AND the books. And if there's anything to be said about the books, convoluted is one of the first things that comes to mind, so the issues I have are purely about the movie. My main and overall glaring issue was the reveal of William being Vanessa's dad. There was little to no build up to that, and I felt the more reasonable decision was to make her related to one of the missing kids, and perhaps having her see them being lured away. It would serve as a nice parallel to Mike, and her mindset of "letting it go" could still be present as an opposition to Mike's clinging onto the past.
Besides that, another problem I have is the lack of William Afton.
He's in the movie for maybe like 20 minutes? Possibly less. Which wouldn't be too bad if he left a lasting impact and his scenes were sprinkled throughout the movie, rather than condensed in the beginning and end. Seeing Afton in the first trailer got me so hyped I most literally could not function properly, to the point I was stuttering. But to see him not really be in the movie is such a let down. And the scenes he was in, besides the parts at the end, he was not really threatening, just sort of an awkward guy. And this sucks even more because Matthew Lillard did an utterly incredible job being threatening in those parts, and I would've loved to see that more.
Besides that, another character I take issue with is Golden Freddy. We see the five kids in the woods. But Golden Freddy is in this movie for maybe 2-3 minutes, max. Which is annoying, because he was shown far more in the trailers and promotional material. I personally would've like more Golden Freddy, more Willy A, and perhaps to see these two being enemies.
Ending off my negative criticism, the horror. I was not very impressed by the horror of this film. You see, I wasn't one of the people adamantly opposing the film being PG-13, in fact, the people who were so heavily against it annoyed me very much leading up to the film's release. The way I saw it, FNAF was never really a series about the guts and gore. Yes, there were moments that were grotesque, but never in detail (well, besides the descriptions in the books; I'll get to that later.) I expected this film not to scare me, but instead, to disturb me. I cannot count the amount of times the FNAF series has managed to disturb me. Things like the blueprints of Funtime Freddy in FNAF:SL, the ending of Help Wanted where you simulate getting stuffed into a Freddy suit, even down to the jumpscare sounds in the first game, FNAF does an incredible job of disturbing and or otherwise unsettling me, and this isn't even touching upon the anxiety of playing the games, especially FNAF 4, or the absolutely brutal situations in the books. I would honestly argue that the books provide more horror than the movie did. The only times I felt truly disturbed during this movie was when William Afton came in with the Springbonnie suit, and the opening credits with Springbonnie leading the kids away. There were other times that momentarily scared me, yes, but none made me feel a deep rooted discomfort. FNAF can provide a type of horror without guts and gore, but I just feel it didn't transfer well into the movie.
Some things I did enjoy though; the drawings. The whole movie feels center around a theme of drawings, and I may be biased due to being an artist, but I honestly loved it. Drawing being a big part of the story, Abby's character, and the eventual solution felt very smooth.
The practical effects. I have absolutely no complaints. The animatronics looked incredible, and I loved every moment they were on screen.
The integration of the FNAF fandom. This leads me into my FNAF fan section, but before doing that, I would like to acknowledge something.
I came into the movie with high expectations without realizing it. The 9 minute teaser got me way too excited, so being let down in these aspects only hurt more. But the main thing I want to cover is my own bias towards the story of the games.
A few paragraphs ago, I suggested more scenes of William and Golden Freddy/Cassidy being enemies. This is because it's something in the games I adore, and would love to see expanded upon. But looking through my critiques and organizing my thoughts made me realize:
I'm not upset that the movie is convoluted, I'm upset at how it's convoluted.
The books, including the trilogy, are convoluted, yes, but they all have connections to and follow the main story, even just a little bit. The movie has the same premise as the first game with details form the first three, haunted animatronics and springlock suits and what not, but it's an entirely different situation with characters who share little to nothing but names to their in-game characters. This is just one of the theories I've come up with for why I don't like the direction of the movie as much as I could.
Now it's time for the FNAF fan in me to shine.
I'll be honest, I teared up multiple times during this movie simply from nostalgia. After the opening credits, the dream theory book, the MatPat Cameo, the ending credits when it started playing the OG FNAF 1 TLT song - it was all so much and if genuinely touched me. This movie is like the Super Mario Bros. movie in this regard; it's a love letter to the fans. Despite the things I didn't like, I could feel the love for this franchise flowing from the screen. Despite all the things that push me away from this film, I can't help but care for it on a deep level. I feel like crying while typing this. I know the amount of passion and love that went into this and it makes my gripes feel all the more unserious. I'm happy we've just finally gotten this movie, a movie that cares about the fans of this series. This movie doesn't try so hard to be what it isn't, and is just plain, relatively unserious fun rather than a complex masterpiece. I'm feeling tired now and want to finish this up before I sleep.
So, yeah. Those were my thoughts on the movie. Will definitely be watching it again to try and catch more details, and maybe change my opinion on it. For now, that'll be all. Might come back and add more or edit this.

was going to do a proper writeup on that lotr show after rewatching a ton of cast interviews from sdcc but I got lazy and my headphones are running out of battery fast so I'm just going to go over the few things that I remember that stuck out to me.
-I do believe the showrunners do understand tolkien or at the very least are very passionate about tolkien. not like "oh I love the lotr movies" but more like "I put elvish on the birth announcement for my child". which I think is promising. It comes down I think to how much their vision of tolkien aligns with my vision of tolkien or how much liberties they're taking with it, which is a thing that's always going to happen in adaptations especially in an adaptation when you have so many blanks to fill in. they really need to make an interview with those guys public, hearing them speak restored quite a bit of confidence with me.
-when they were speaking about parts they were excited to adapt and talked about the part where sauron puts the one ring on his finger for the first time and recites the poem and all the elves know at once they've been betrayed I was very interested to see how they'll tackle that. if they're passionate about it, they'll be able to bring those big moments to justice, which I am very much looking forward to.
-the actors were also very knowledgeable about tolkien to varying degrees - the actor for gil-galad could recite most of the gil-galad poem with only minor prompting. the actor for elrond is my favorite since he said his favorite age is the first age. he said something about how he's approaching second-age elrond primarily as an orphan, with huge expectations given his dad saved the world and is always looking down on him literally from the night sky, and how his complicated past ties into it, and it being so soon after having made his decision to live as an elf rather than as a mortal, and how that's influencing how he sees the world. which is incredible. he also made a comment at one point about the power of oaths in tolkien's universe which made me have to stop the video and hyperventilate for a few seconds because IF ONE PERSON KNOWS. IT'S ELROND. so I'm super looking forward to however much of that they'll portray of him when it comes down to it. (literally if we get a reference to the whole elrond being raised by sons of feanor thing I'm going to lose my mind.) uhh other than him, celebrimbor's actor was apparently a huge fan of lotr as a kid and he practiced writing with elvish script and wrote a play based off of it, which is very cute. elendil's actor could come up with a good amount of numenorean lore on the spot. all good things so far.
-bear mccreary who is doing most of the soundtrack talked about howard shore's influence, the example he gave was using some of the tones shore used with dwarves in a generally lost/grim setting given their position in the third age and bringing it to its full majesty in the second age with khazad-dum, which was very cool.
-I wasn't super satisfied with the answers the showrunners had during some of the q&a stuff primarily with why they're including harfoots, which was basically a "tolkien said hobbits didn't do anything but never said harfoots didn't", which, isn't the point. but as long as they don't make the hobbits tie in to all the other canonical stories and catch the attention of elves and men too much then I'll let it slide. someone also asked very indignantly why the star of feanor was on galadriel's armor which nobody really knew how to answer for a while, some stuff about how it wasn't necessarily the star of feanor, eventually the producer said it was a gift from someone else. I still don't think Galadriel would wear a star of feanor, but I do like the idea of celebrimbor gifting her armor (who, I assume, would be one of the few people still wanting to be associated with the feanorian star at this point).
-both the actors for theo and bronwyn (original human characters in tir-harad which is allegedly pre-mordor) discussed that part of their roles were dealing with being the descendants of the humans who originally betrayed the elves to side with morgoth. which. NIRNAETH ARNOEDIAD REFERENCE??? honestly I think that's very interesting if we're seeing the later ramifications of ulfang that fucker that got fingon killed. though again it's an issue of how much they'd actually be allowed to go into depth with the nirnaeth (probably not at all).
-overall mainly my opinions on the show remain about the same (very excited about some stuff, a lot more hesitant about some other stuff) it kind of mostly confirmed stuff I already knew but gave me a new reason to be interested in tir-harad and definitely gave me more reasons to be super invested in elrond I want to see that I want to see that incredible first age ramifications. anyways. that's all from me for now unless new news comes out

Misogyny in a game from 7 years ago: Uncharted 4
Game critic and youtuber Dunkey made a new video talking about Uncharted 4, a game both me and my husband despised after replaying it a year or two ago. It was a very well done and positive review, drawing a lot more out of the game than I ever did and it made me start to question *why* I couldn’t made those connections.
Dunkey says at one point "You are ruining this dude's marriage to make him feel like Indiana Jones" and that was very validating lmao But Dunkey was also saying that things like the marriage conflict, how much we wonder why the fuck Nathan would abandon everything he's got with Elaine, or things like how much we dislike and distrust Drake's brother, it's all intentional... and maybe it is. These were all things that made me really bitter about the game super fast but Dunkey is able to tie it all really well into the grander story and themes that come up over the course of the world trotting adventure.
But it also made me think that I don't think anything could make me like the story of it. Elaine is the most shafted character in the whole franchise and after the horrible bullshit of the third game with her especially, it's really hard to gear myself up for "one last ride" with mister Nathan Drake and his shithead brother, y’know? It isn’t a new or unique storyline to tread that Elaine and Drake’s relationship is rocky and unstable because he’s a selfish brat and he does shit that hurts her. From the very get go with revealing that Drake even had a long lost brother, it felt clear to me we were just going to revisit the same tired trope of making Elaine’s pain the emotional core without ever letting it actually effect the narrative in any way. It felt to me like the game honestly could not figure out a way to close out things without using her as a punching bag again. I hate to say it but I think it's just misogyny! I think it's just me feeling completely overwhelmed with stories of men with comfortable rich fulfilling lives and partners wanting to ruin that for glory, riches, thrills, adventures, whatever. Dunkey said the finale made him overjoyed because it told him that Drake did eventually come to his senses and choose a life with Elaine and decided to pass down that legacy to his kid... but to me it was inevitable. It was inevitable because the only constant in this story (and the other stories) is that Elaine will always take back Drake and give him a normal comfortable domestic life when he wants it. There was no joy, no sense of relief. What, was he going to say NO to going home with his sexy charming ass kicking wife? It's funny how much Dunkey was able to fixate on things like all the places you go, all the game mechanics, all these unique and enriching things in the game because I felt distracted constantly by a story that was just leading to an incredibly predictable end and who's real conflict was that Elaine was home without knowing anything and "oh no when shes gonna find out and be mad". And that makes me mad!
It's almost sad in a way that this game has aged so poorly by virtue of millions of the same stories came out before, during, and after this game's release and whatever subversion Naughty Dog was going for became trite. But I don’t even know if it would have stuck a landing to me regardless. I'm genuinely jealous to hear Dunkey make these narrative connections to things and to appreciate this game on the level the studio probably intended for it to be played. I admit some of this most come from marathoning the games and the sting of the third game being so major, it made me tempted to suggest to my husband we replay 4... but writing up my feelings has made me realize that the best I could ask for is to just ignore all my feelings on a central story aspect and that doesn’t seem fun. Dunkey mentions “the fantasy” at a few points in his video review. He mentions how he think it's the best triple A action in any video game he's played, how the gun fights and intense action comes up later and really rewards you with the big violent set pieces like an indulgence. The game plays into the fantasy of the adventure, both for the player and for Drake. You are supposed to at once disagree with Drake’s decisions but also be too swept away by the intentional fanservice to judge him too strongly. And so I think both the core message and themes of the game, as well as the game itself, is just built around something so inherently masculine.

Dear lord, I watched some bits of that video where stan lee was criticizing todd mcfarlane and rob liefield on making a character and GOD. I would seriously consider giving up everything if I got called out immediately on shit like that.
#I like to think that while Mr. Stan Lee is responsible for so many great things he was not without faults.#If I recall correctly he wanted Spides to be a galaxy wandering hero but I think due to Mr. Ditko he stayed as a friendly neighborhood hero#that being said he made INCREDIBLE points during the video. A character is more than their objective and in order to feel for a character#we need to know how they feel how they act how much of a person they are.#granted I personally dont think characters NEED to be relatable to be enjoyable or thoughtful but it helps.#hell even with my own err. ideas. Im trying to make a relatable character in the sense that shit thats happened may never go away for you#but learning to live with that fact and trying to do better is good. or something along those lines.#also that family isnt related blood. and some other stuff#it sounds like shit when I describe it uGHHHHH#anyways hiya everyone Im so fuckin tired.#counseling went good I spose. I. I actually talked about owl casa near the end and I felt so nervous#cuz ya know almost everyone here is homophobic and if they caught wind I like a show thats openly lgbt#theyd start assuming I myself am lgbt (which ya know. yea.) and then Id probly get kicked out or disowned.#or have to hear them talk behind my back like Im some sorta freak. so basically the same but a bit more hurtful.#is kinda funny how I started the appointment talking about serious stuff then ended with my hopeful webcomic and owl casa.#so is been day. we did get milk so thats really nice. uhh. also ate some spaghetti microwaved. man Im tired.#hopefully yall have been well tho!#the butts chronicles

The Technoblade Conspiracy
Even before Dream claimed there was a traitor in Pogtopia, there's been a lot of...suspicious activities happening in Techno’s streams. Others on the SMP are already distrustful of him, and the fans are as well, but I believe that we’re focusing on the wrong thing here. This thread isn’t quite a traitor theory, but rather a dive into what Techno has been hiding at large. I can say with utter confidence that the extent of what Technoblade has accomplished on the Dream SMP is being greatly underestimated.
I recommend looking at the sus Techno moments thread by @piggytechnobarb on Twitter for some of the stream clips I'll be discussing.
This is going to be fairly in depth, so the rest is under the cut!
1. There is another room under what Techno calls his "secret base"
I won't talk too much on how strange his choice of "secret base" is for now, but please do keep in mind how out of character it is for man-who-tracked-down-Squid's-college to settle for a home base so unprotected and close to Pogtopia's very well known location.
So, for some reason, there is Polished Blackstone Brick under the floor of Techno’s wall. He accidentally reveals this when a donation asks him to mine the exposed redstone in his wall, acts a bit strange for a good 15 seconds, and then never mentions it again. Sight of the brick prompts him to silently zoom in, fill the hole with stone (not cobble), and say "Don't ask questions".
Tumblr media
This is only so strange because there's no real reason for him to have stone at the ready, or any blackstone brick at all. Techno is NOT a builder, and if a creeper blew up down there, he'd fill it with cobble and not give a shit about aesthetics. He doesn't use smooth stone in his base, and has never built with blackstone on stream. Not only are they unusual items for him to have, it's unusual for him to make a point to not have the viewers question it. Yes, it could just be Techno being dramatic, but why did he go silent for a straight 5 seconds at the sight of the blackstone?
Considering who he is as a player, it is completely in character for Techno to build a second base. The lake he lives under is incredibly near Wilbur and Tommy, and he's well aware that all an enemy has to do is watch his stream to infiltrate his base. Techno goes to the extremes when they aren't even required (Ex. His insane skill in party games, beating Skeppy in as niche of a game as Grinch Simulator, etc.) So I don't think it's a stretch for him to go the extra mile, and hide a bunker/resources/extra armour and what have you from even his own viewers.
2. The overpowered illegal villager farm
For those of you who don't watch Ponk, he recently stumbled across an area that is supposedly banned on the Dream SMP - a villager farm. In the clip, his voice is astonished and his confusion is palpable, and he goes so far as to say "It's a full scale arms race" because of how many good trades there are. The location is laced with traps, though he doesn't mention what exactly he had to get past to find the farm. Ponk's reaction is far too genuine for the farm to be his, but then that begs the question, whose farm is it?
...Who is willing to risk Dream's wrath by breaking his rules? Or, alternatively, who is capable of making a secret pact with the server owner to allow such a farm? The answer could only be Technoblade.
Ponk says it himself in the video, he does not have the time to build this. Whoever made this had to have carved out a hidden cavern, lead at least 14 villagers down there, breed them until only the ones with the best trades were left - all off stream, and without another player catching them. Whoever made this had to spend hours of work with no content to show for it, and who do we know has been grinding for DAYS on the server? Technoblade. Not to mention, all the villagers are numbered, and all but one are fletchers.
Tumblr media
The signs above each stall are so important, because going so far back as SMP Earth, Techno has a history of dispassionately breeding mobs to his benefit, and then killing any mob not performing well enough. For example, his horse farm: where the horses stay in numbered rooms rather than all being named. The villagers in the screenshot above are numbered rather than named.
Wanna hear a fun fact about Fletchers? They're well known for accepting sticks for emeralds, but will also take string for that trade as well! And guess who has been seen waiting at the spider spawner collecting string by Sapnap, Awesamdude, Quackity, and multiple other players? Technoblade.
Technoblade also has every reason to be breeding villagers for special arrows and crossbows, because he's said on stream that he wants to try spamming multi-shot crossbows in combat to take out huge groups of enemies. He said at a later point that he had run into trouble with getting multiple crossbows with the enchantment multi-shot, and implied it wasn't going to happen. But has he ever been the kind of person to be stopped by something being challenging? Absolutely not.
Think of literally anything Techno has done - his Bedwars win streak, beating MC with a steering wheel, the Potato Wars - what I believe is really happening, is that Techno is lying about how equipped he is so that no matter what side he ends up fighting for, his enemies will have no true way of knowing how powerful he is.
3. Dream might be his secret ally (AKA The Glowstone Incident)
This brings us to a...confusing moment in Techno's stream that sparked a lot of questions. It pointed me towards 2 different, but not necessarily exclusive, theories.
The Glowstone Incident precedes as follows: Techno needs glowstone but can't find any in his chests, so he puts on his BRB screen. He says that he is "hacking" and asking Dream to use game mode to give him the glowstone. Typing can be heard, and then multiple chests are opened. Techno takes off the BRB screen and he now has three stacks of glowstone dust. This was absolutely bewildering to watch live, and was one of the most blatantly suspicious things he has done in front of his viewers. (You can find the exact clip on the thread I mentioned, it is...so weird)
Theory A: Though unlikely, Techno could be Dream's secret ally, and Dream really did use creative to give him the stacks. Or, he potentially gave Techno OP permissions so that he could get the glow stone (and any other materials he’d want) himself.
We all remember their meet up on that ocean hill, where Dream gives Techno golden apples, diamonds, and other such materials for the battle against Schlatt. It seemed to be a one-off gift that was more for Wilbur's benefit than Techno's, but there's potentially the chance that Dream saw an alliance to Techno to be more beneficial than working only with Wilbur, and contacted him off screen to make deals.
Going back to the Village Farm - for a player to get the exact enchantment they want for a reasonable price, breeding them is the most logical option. It's the route Techno would take regardless of Dream's rules on the SMP too, as he tends to show little regard for what the creators want (Ex. Taking over SMP Earth, exploiting Hypixel Skyblock, etc.) However, it could also be possible that Dream gave Techno permission to do this, and so the reason Techno is keeping the farm secret is so that the viewers don't know of their alliance.
Theory B: Techno has hidden resources in his base that he doesn't want anyone to have even the chance to see. Whether it is to hide from enemies watching (or to hide from Dream in particular because Techno knows he's breaking the server's rules) there are secret chests that Techno has with extra resources that can be heard loud and clear in the video.
They could be simple ones hidden in the walls...or in the blackstone brick base hidden under his floors. Saying he’s “hacking” rather than the reality of him just checking all his chests again is on par for Techno’s usual dramatics - yet we can clearly see that there’s no glowstone in any of his chests. This is why I believe he got the glowstone from some unseen resource. With the BRB screen on, Techno prevents his viewers from actually seeing how he got the 3 stacks of powder, and it keeps the location of his hidden materials safe.
Personally, I feel theory B is more likely, but there have been moments where Dream has acted Sus so...be on the lookout y'all.
4. Techno not participating in MCC
For those of you who watched Techno during the Potato War, many will remember that MCC 6 had a stressful undertone. Because of how much effort and time Techno had been putting into farming on Skyblock, taking a break to compete in another event was distracting. It ultimately led to him losing time that, from his perspective, would have been better off spent farming.
Techno might not be as blatantly grinding on the Dream SMP as he did with the Potato War, but it's undeniable that other streamers have seen him online for stretches of 10 hours and more. When asked about why he wasn't participating in the next MCC, Techno didn't say he was taking a break - something that'd be entirely reasonable and honestly well earned - he said "I don't want to."
It could be awkward phrasing by virtue of Techno's personality, but what I think is more likely is that Techno has learned from his past mistakes. Rather than "waste" time competing in MCC, Techno might be planning to use the time everyone on the SMP is gone to his advantage. He could sneak into enemy territory, set traps in certain areas, or maybe even perform some illegal acts that Dream would never allow. Either way, I suspect Techno has something planned for the 14th.
Honorable Mentions:
Dream poking fun, or blatantly covering for Techno?
Tumblr media
This clip of Techno's secret Something??? next to the spider spawner, undeniably suspicious
Techno had around 5 stacks of wool in his inventory at one point - he absolutely could be bed mining the nether not only so that he has multiple sets of OP netherite, but possibly because he's preparing the gear for another person (cough cough Philza) or people
Techno's collection of ghast tears. He's studied Crystal PvP and made plenty of 2b2t references in the past (Look up FitMC for more info on those things) So it could be possible that Techno is hiding stacks of end crystals so that he can decimate multiple players in an instant
All in all, I'm 100% convinced that Techno has some serious plans hidden behind the scenes that he's not going to share until it's time for him to unleash utter chaos. We know he's keeping secrets, we know he's had the time, and we know he's capable.
I hope you all enjoyed my research and feel terrified of what Techno could possibly have done off camera :D
If anyone else has different theories, corrections to what I wrote, or other moments where Pink was Sus, feel free to comment!

Call Me By My Name-Pietro Maximoff x Powers!Reader
Tumblr media

Requested by @husherstan : ‘could you write a one w pietro maximoff? idk if you know about a trend on tik tok where a gf or bf call them partners by they first name. Reader and Pietro are enemies cuz them both are always trying to be the best of t team, reader calls him by others names and when she (or gn) calls by him real name he was like "why are you calling me like that? whats wrong with you? are you feeling bad today?" (and he likes her so fucking much, a simp)’
Characters: Pietro Maximoff x Reader, Avengers team x Reader
Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
(Character has the power of force fields, that both generate electricity and provide protection for them/others)
Warnings: Name calling, bullying, arguing, fluff
                                      *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“For the last time, watch where you’re going Speedy Gonzales!” I snapped as Pietro almost knocked me over again.
His form whizzed around the room once more before stopping in front of me.“Maybe try keeping up next time.”
I was startled by the force he left behind as he ran off again making a show of circling the entire training room multiple times, creating a small wave of air. I groaned loudly as I went back to jogging. He was such a show off, it infuriated me. We weren’t here to compete against each other, we were supposed to be a team; but when he waltzed around the place boasting about how fast he was, it was really hard not to step up to the plate.
Pietro was running faster than usual, trying to overlap me dozens of times, more than he would have done in a normal session. It got on my last nerve, making me stop, my powers already flowing through my arms. It would be hard to pinpoint him, so I charged up a huge ball of electricity, casting it out harshly. I just managed to catch him, laughing as he yelped out in surprise, being thrown high into the air before landing on the sparring mats. I saw him slowly get up, clearly I had caused some pain. My fun was soon ended as he ran towards me again, having to quickly put up a force field that would protect me. Pietro bounced off it, though I hadn’t put any charge in this one, so he only fell on his backside.
“Enough!” Wanda yelled out, though we still kept our guard up around each other.“Really (Y/N)? You can relax now.”
“I don’t trust him.” I replied.
She sighed.“Come on, Steve wants to talk about the mission.”
“Why? We debriefed three days ago.”
“Something to do with it being on the news.” she shrugged, walking away.
Pietro glanced back at me, looking me up and down before following his sister. However, he didn’t look at me with disgust or anything of the sort, it was almost as if he was checking me out. I tutted at myself, why on Earth would he ever look at me like that?
I wasn’t happy joining the meeting in my sweaty state.Everyone else was dressed and put together, but at least Pietro looked similar. The team was gathered around a table, looking to Steve who was stood at the front, his arms crossed over his chest. He had the look of disappointment on his face, which meant bad news for the rest of us...or whoever was in trouble. With no seats left, I copied Steve’s stance at the back of the room, rolling my eyes when Pietro stood beside me.
“Sorry to call you guys in on such short notice.” Steve started.“But I feel that we have to discuss something that’s starting to effect the team.”
He pulled up a screen showing the news. It had images and videos of our last mission. We were raiding an old factory on the edge of the city, finding a terrorist group hiding out there as they worked on their gadgets. News coverage showed the team fighting from a helicopter view, and we were all confused as to why Steve was showing us this.
“Fastest man alive,” Pietro repeated what the reporter said,“it has a nice ring to it.”
“I wouldn’t put that in your Tinder bio.” I quipped, causing a few chuckles.
Steve looked at me.“And this is why we’re here today.”
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.“What?”
“You and Pietro are always at each other’s throats. It’s...well frankly, it’s exhausting listening to you two arguing all the time. And it could seriously put someone in danger whilst on a mission, even you two.”
“He always starts it-”
Pietro held up a finger.“Hold on, you do too-”
“You’re just proving his point guys.” Natasha spoke over us.
“As I was saying,” Steve brought the attention back to him,“the media has also caught onto this. There’s multiple images of you two clearly arguing, or even getting in each others way during the mission. At one point, you’re both trying to save the same person, but almost miss that chance because you’re so invested in being better than the other!”
Steve was really mad, and from everyone else’s faces, they thought the same thing.
“So until all of this changes, you two are suspended from any missions.”
“What?!” we both exclaimed.
“And you may not approach any other team member for assistance with training.”
“Why are we both being punished?” I demanded to know.
“Oh, do not play the victim here Mrs Incredible!” Pietro snapped.
“Mrs Incredible is super stretchy, it’s the daughter who has the same powers as me, you idiot!”
“See? You’re further showing me that I made the right decision. I felt bad at first, but now I know that this is the right direction to go in.” Steve raised his voice.“You’re both dismissed.”
“Well, what are the rest of you doing?” Pietro dared to ask.
“We are going to go over all the planning we have done for upcoming missions. Everything has to change because of you two. Now please go.”
I held it together as I left the room, not wanting to appear like a toddler stomping away in a tantrum. It was impossible to get away from Pietro, what with him being ‘the fastest man alive’, but I was going to try. I didn’t need another argument right now, I was upset, needed to be alone. Apparently, I wasn’t going to get that.
“Leave me alone.” I warned Pietro as he followed me.
“I can’t believe this! They’ve kicked us off the team because you always have to say something-”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“And to think, they’re going to risk not having me on the team. I help them with everything, I’m a crucial part-”
“Pietro!” I shouted, spinning on my heel to face him.
His eyes widened at that, glancing down to my clenched up fists, little electric sparks running over them, before looking me in my teary eyes.
I sighed, relaxing my tense shoulders and hands before leaving. There was no point trying to explain. He wouldn’t understand. We would both get mad, probably fight, the team would have to break us up; I had no energy to do that. Slowly turning away, I was surprised by the silence that followed, Pietro didn’t even follow me.
I checked the time on the lock screen of my phone, seeing that an hour had passed since I fled from Pietro. It also made me realise how dark the room had become, the sun would set in a few minutes. But I didn’t bother turning on any lights, instead leaning back again on the chair. I was sat in an empty lobby, it was a small room, facing the floor to ceiling window that showed the landscape that surrounded the headquarters. Besides just sitting here, I should have distracted myself. Perhaps put on a film, relax after training, something to take my mind off of things. Instead, I decided to sit with my thoughts.
“H-hey.” I heard Pietro quietly say from the doorway.
Looking over my shoulder, I didn’t reply, facing the window again when he began walking towards me. He hesitantly turned on a lamp near us, sitting on the chair beside mine. Pietro also looked out of the window, clasping his hands together for a few seconds before fidgeting. I tried to ignore it, though after an hour of peace and nothingness, it became irritating quickly.
“Can you stop?” I blurted out.“Please?”
“Are you annoyed by everything I do?” he asked.
“Not...everything. I just...doesn’t matter, it’s not like you care anyway.”
“That’s not true.”
“I’m not falling for this Pietro.”
“Why are you saying my name?”
“What?”
“You never say my name. Actually, we never say each others names.”
“And why does that matter?”
“It just feels, it feels serious.”
“I mean, we’ve basically been kicked off the team, so yeah, it’s serious.”
“We’ve not been kicked off the team (Y/N).”
“We could be if we don’t get our act together.”
“It won’t go that far-”
“But it could! I can’t believe how calm you are about the whole thing.” I stood, distancing myself from him.“I’ve worked too hard for this. Imagine what would happen if word got out that I was disbanded from the Avengers because of a tiny argument, with a team member who is so narcissistic that he can’t put others before himself!”
I realised I had began ranting, stopping myself before I said anything else hurtful. But by the look of Pietro’s face, it was already too late.
“I...I’m sorry (Y/N).” he never broke eye contact.“And before you say anything, I mean it.”
“Pietro, I-”
“I can see how much this job means to you.”
“It’s my fault too. I always try to outdo you or challenge you.”
“No, don’t be humble.” he got out of his seat, standing in front of me.“It’s almost always my fault that we argue. And I hate myself for it.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I’m usually very good with the ladies.” he grinned, though it disappeared when he realised it wasn’t time to joke.“But not around you apparently. It’s probably because you’re extremely strong and sure of yourself, and I go for a different type, the polar opposite to you.”
“Pietro, I...um...”
“I was really impressed by you when we first met. It made me nervous actually.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, all I can do is run really fast.”
“But, you’ve been on much more missions than I have. Doesn’t that say something?” I hung my head.
“Are you crazy? You’re not on those missions because they don’t need you.”
My head whipped up to see his smile drop.
“I didn’t mean it like that! I meant that those missions are for Avengers like me. The ones they can use over and over without worrying about them being too tired for the next one. What I’m trying to say is, you’re too important.”
“I never thought I would say this, but Pietro, you’re an important part of the team too. I always rose to your challenges because I felt I needed to prove something to the others. I was new, then I was accepted after all my relentless training, but when you and Wanda came along, I instantly became old news. And you didn’t even go through the rigorous regimes like I did, so I just assumed you were better than me.”
“It seems we were both wrong about each other. We were going through a lot of effort to outdo the other when we could have saved that energy for...well, anything else really.”
“Yeah. I suppose so.”
Pietro held his hand out.“Truce?”
I smiled up at him as I shook it.“Truce.”
A cheeky smirk appeared as he raised an eyebrow at me.“Let’s not tell the team about this just yet. I feel like there would be a lot of ‘I told you so’.”
“It’s like you read my mind.”
“And another thing.”
I noticed he was still holding my hand, though they were lowered now, and his grip wasn’t as firm.“Yes?”
“Can we start calling each other by our actual names?”
“I mean, I assumed we would anyway.”
“Oh, good. I just...”
“You just?”
“I just like the way it sounds when you say my name.”

to have and to hold | juri vips
summary: Juri Vips was a bastard of a teammate. Mostly just because you were insanely in love with him and his flirtatious ways. Juri senses a change in your behaviour and when things begin going back to normal, Juri just fucks it up again. (Similar premise to the Mr & Mrs imagine with Liam, but different[?])
word count: 2894
warnings: swearing, still. i don't think i should have to put warnings about swearing anymore, it's basically a given.
Tumblr media
Working with Juri Vips was a fucking trainwreck. There was no light way to put it, it was messy, it was painful, and yet you could never stop fucking staring at him. Being his teammate in F2 for the past year and a half, the two of you had gotten quite close, to the point where his family invited you on vacation with them when they were going, and you had joined them once, but realised about two hours in, that it was a thinly veiled attempt from literally his entire family to get the two of you together.
And while you were all for it, being forced to spend so much time with Juri, while he was shirtless nonetheless, was a literal dream come true, it was also incredibly painful for you to stop from pouncing on him at any given moment. Because as much as his family thought there was something between you, it was purely Juri’s charisma and character to be almost constantly flirting with you.
You remember the first time the two of you, a few other F2 drivers had come along as well, had gone to the beach and he had seen you bust out the bikini you knew made you look like a hot piece, he hadn’t shut up about it, or you, for weeks afterwards.
“Well look at you, little miss supermodel. I would have thought you’d be walking catwalks with legs like that, not pushing pedals like the rest of us. God, you look like you just stepped out of my dreams and onto this beach. If you keep looking like that, I think I might have a problem to deal with later in the shower.” He had hollered, and many of the guys around you either joined in or had nothing to say but gawk. Juri’s comments had cemented themselves in your brain however, calling back upon them whenever you felt less than top dollar, which you had to admit was becoming more often in recent months.
Juri had noticed your slowly waning confidence, of course he had. His gorgeous view of you in crop tops, little skirts, and tight shorts had turned into oversized shorts, hoodies, and ill-fitting jeans. All of which still made you the most beautiful girl in the world, but there was something missing from your aura, a general happiness that had been lacking since the new season started a few months ago. In the entire time Juri had known you, you were never one to listen to other’s opinions of you, whether they be good or bad, the only people you had ever listened to and taken words to heart from were himself, your parents, and your boyfriend.
Somehow in the span of about three minutes, Juri had tracked the four most likely culprits of your diminished ego. He knew he hadn’t said anything harmful or damaging to you since the season began, as many of your conversations had revolved around racing, other drivers in the paddock, or your family. Your parents, he was confident in, he had met them many times before, and they were always genuinely warm and welcoming, he supposed there might have been another side to them, though he believed he would have picked up on it by now. Which leaves only your boyfriend, whom Juri had zero confidence in.
Tye was nice, almost disgustingly so, but he was also much too proud of being nice for it to be genuine. He would open car doors for you, give you flowers every few months, and once bought you a necklace with a pendant of his name. But you would never forget that he did those things for you, because as soon as you would mention something relatively negative, those few acts of kindness were shoved down your throat.
Juri, of course, was not privy to that information. All he knew was that Tye’s possessive behaviour and complete lack of care for your wishes meant that there was something beneath the surface Juri was sure was the reason for your confidence, or lack thereof.
So when you came into work one day, to continue shooting some videos for the YouTube channel, wearing a gorgeously fitted pair of jeans, and a halter-neck singlet, Juri knew something was afoot. Also notable was your lack of gold necklace and your beaming smile toward the Estonian.
“You gonna keep staring like that, or do you want to take a photo?” You asked, your voice holding the teasing lilt Juri had missed in the past weeks. Without breaking his gaze from your body, Juri reached into the pocket of his shorts, his hand retrieving his phone and taking a photo of you standing there, tight clothes and bright smile in all its glory. He smirked when he saw your barely concealed smile.
“You’re in a much better mood than usual. What happened?” Juri couldn’t help but ask, the drastic shift in your mood was more than intriguing to him. Your smile widened, taking the last few steps toward his position in a chair behind the large conference table.
“I lost 80 kilos last night.” You whispered, leaning in closer to Juri, the glint in your eyes, the proximity and the tone were all so familiar to him that he couldn’t help but meet you halfway, barely three inches between your faces as the words processed in his mind.
Juri glanced down at your body confusedly, trying to figure out where exactly the 80kg had disappeared from. Then, the pieces began clicking into place. The lack of gold necklace, the tighter clothes, the glowing smile, none of which would have been staring Juri in the face if Tye had a say.
“You dumped Tye?” Juri questioned, his eyes lighting up, his raise in volume betraying just how excited he was for you, and himself. You nodded, eyes softening as you watched the pure joy cross Juri’s face. Him being happy was something that always warmed your heart, but Juri being happy about you finally being happy? You were sure your knees were about to buckle.
“I’m glad. I can have you all to myself now.” Juri grumbled, reaching for your hands that were braced against the arms of his chair. With a sharp tug, your balance was offset, and your body was tumbling toward Juri’s. You landed with a giggle in Juri’s lap, his own laughter joining yours and the two of you simply enjoyed each other’s presence after having an intangible wall built between you during your relationship with Tye.
Juri couldn’t hold a taken woman like he loved her, not when that taken woman wasn’t his to hold. And you, how could you revel in the feel of man’s touch that was anyone’s but the man you supposedly loved. You couldn’t break out in goosebumps, or have a shiver roll down your spine when you felt the familiar pressure of his calloused fingertips pressing into the skin of your back, desperate to keep you close. You weren’t allowed to sigh in content when you felt the warmth of his body seep into your skin, or whimper when his hot breath rolled over the skin of your neck.
But now you could. Now, without the moral implications of enjoying another man, you could sink into this all-consuming feeling you have when Juri is near.
“Morning you two. We’ve got a video to film in the garage if you want to follow me?” The social media manager, Georgina,  a lovely woman in her 40s whom you always went to for advice and style tips, poked her head into the room you and Juri were tangled in, a cheeky smile on her face when she spotted the somewhat compromising position. A blush fell heavy on your cheeks, and you were quick to try and scramble away from Juri.
He had other ideas though. When Juri began moving, you clutched onto him for dear life, terrified of falling to the ground even though it was only about two feet. Your arms circled around his neck, your legs fully wrapping around his hips from where you were straddling him on the chair. His large hands came to rest on the underside of your thighs, hoisting you up higher on his body. Your legs clenched around his middle, the feel of his fingers pushing into the soft skin of your legs was electrifying, and you were sure if you didn’t have a video to film, you would have been telling the Estonian to find an unoccupied office to take what he needed from you.
But alas, you had a job to do. So, still wrapped around Juri like a vice, he carried you through the Hitech office, nodding to other staff you passed, and occasionally nuzzling his nose into your neck to get a good whiff of your perfume. Juri had said multiple times the scent was intoxicating and could bring any man to his knees. You may have gone out and bought an extra bottle to ensure you never ran out after that.
After a few minutes, you stepped into the garage with Juri, well, he stepped in you just kind of floated in. The scent of grease, rubber and a slight hint of fuel invaded your nostrils, and you sighed in content. Juri chuckled at your actions, he always loved watching you step into a garage, or out onto the pit lane to take in the smells of burnt rubber. You told him every time he laughed at you that it evoked a calm feeling within you, it was nostalgic, filled with happy memories from your childhood and the memories of races you shared with Juri on track.
“Alright lovebirds, can we get you in these chairs and we’ll start explaining while we finish getting set up.” Georgina stated, smiling fondly at the love between her two youngsters. Juri sat you down in one of the chairs sitting before the cameras, not leaving your side for long as he planted himself in his own chair and dragged you as close as possible.
Georgina explained the rules of the game, and the way you would be playing it, choosing you to sit in the background listening to music whilst Juri answered questions about you. First, they gave you a list of questions about yourself, asking to circle the correct answers and they would be compared to Juri’s during the game.
“Ok Juri, the first question. How old was Y/N when she started karting?” Georgina questioned. She watched you in the background closely to ensure you couldn’t hear anything, but you were blissfully unaware of everything around you, headphones in your ears, legs tucked up on the chair, scrolling through your phone with the occasional giggle escaping your lips. Each time Juri heard the angelic sound, he would turn to look at you with a look so soft it made the entire team’s heart swell.
“Uh, I think she was 10, I know she started late because she had to argue with her parents to let her do it with her brothers, and I think 10 is about the right age.” Juri answered, looking as though he was thinking quite hard about it. It had been a long time since the two of you discussed your start in karting, it was one of the first conversations you had together, and since then you hadn’t had to talk about generic teammate topics. Juri was proud that he remembered something seemingly insignificant from a year and a half ago, but supposed when it came to you he could never forget a thing.
“Alright, next question. What is Y/N’s biggest fear? Is it A, the ocean, B, goblins, or C, heights?” Juri’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head when he heard the second answer, trying to figure out why it was even an option in the first place. His eyes focused on one spot on the floor, his brain moving a mile a minute to analyse conversations he had with you.
“Well, we’ve been to the beach together a few times, and thinking back I don’t think she’s ever gotten into the water. So maybe the ocean, but she also said once when we were looking at a castle that she doesn’t like gargoyles, so goblins could be a thing. But she’s definitely not scared of heights. She’s gone skydiving, bungee jumping and climbed bridges and things like that. So I’m going to say the ocean. I feel like I would definitely know if she was scared of something like goblins.” Juri laughed, his eyes still glued to the spot on the floor, his thoughts flowing through his mouth with little consideration of how they could be interpreted.
“What is something Y/N never leaves the house with?” Georgina was hopeful for this question, she was sure it could be the catalyst for the two drivers to finally own up to their feelings after reading your answer. Juri listened to the multiple choice answers, but none of them sounded just right.
“So, the rings sound the closest, but sometimes she will wear lots, and other times only a few, and when she can’t wear them on her hands, she’ll thread it onto a necklace to wear under her race suit, or something so yeah, I’d say the rings.” Juri answered, turning to look at you behind him, wearing the exact ring he was talking about on the ring finger of your right hand.
“And what ring is the one she wears on her necklace?” Georgina probed, knowing the answer and just wanting to see the way Juri heated up when he talked about it.
“Uh, it’s a diamond ring that has a J engraved on the inside.” Juri answered, his cheeks turning an adorable shade of pink. A smile broke out on your face as you watched Juri, his flustered state always made you giggle as he was such a confident and put-together person usually. As a habit, you began spinning the ring on your right hand around, feeling the shape of the diamonds and knowing the initial carved into the inside was a claim over you.
“Do you know where she got it?” Georgina asked. She was getting frustrated, Juri was much more calm about revealing the intimacy of the ring than she had hoped.
“I gave it to her. About a year ago, and then she gave me a necklace with an (your initial) on it. I wear it every day, and it’s the only piece of jewellery I wear while I drive.” Juri answered, his fingers reaching up to toy with the thin gold chain hidden beneath his shirt. He looked over his shoulder at you, spotting the spinning ring immediately and smiling at you.
You looked up at him, a dazed look as you stared at the gorgeous man in front of you. He could see the stars in your eyes, staring at him as though he hung the moon, and if he was honest with himself, if you asked, he would. There was nothing you could ask of him that would be too much, even if you didn’t ask, he would do everything for you. No one had ever held this power over him, he wasn’t even sure it would feel this good if it were anyone else, but you just did something to him. You unlocked a part of him he didn’t know existed.
You were just, everything. To him. You were everything he ever wanted, ever needed, even everything he didn’t know he needed. You opened him up, poured sunshine into his life in the form of your smile, happiness penetrated his bones because of your laugh. He didn’t want to lose that again, didn’t want to lose you to another man. He needed you, and he needed you now.
It was like slow motion, the way Juri surged out of his chair toward you, his hands cupping your jaw roughly as he guided you to your feet. The laptop on the ground pulled the earphones from your ears, your phone clattering to the floor in your surprise. Your hands reached up to fist in his shirts, not wanting to lose this proximity. You had him in your grasp and you’d be damned if you ever let him go again.
Juri pressed his lips to yours, as soft and warm as you’d imagined them so many times before. You kissed him back with ferocity, the eighteen months worth of emotion poured into a kiss to communicate your feelings in a way that didn’t need words. He kissed back just as fiercely, his hands holding your face still to allow him to do exactly what he needed. You were pliable to his every demand, putty in his hands. Juri had always had this effect on you, every fleeting touch or brush of a hand on your waist made your knees weak and your stomach flutter with the force of a thousand butterflies.
Juri pulled away, barely a breath between your lips as he panted slightly. Your eyes were trained on his lips, the fullness of his bottom lip, the redness from your assault on them making them look all the more kissable.
“So, how about we switch that ring to the other hand and really make this a Mr & Mrs video?”

The one where Harry and Model Y/N go undercover in the internet
Tumblr media
characters: HARRYxMODELY/N
blurb: Harry and Model Y/N go undercover on the internet with fake accounts on TikTok and Instagram for an interview for GQ magazine on a video pre Grammys.
word count: 3.3K
HARRYxMODELY/N masterlist
author's note: HI GUYS! This is a request that I received a while ago but only finished it now because of school and all that stuff that I've told y'all a million times. Anyway, I tried my best on this request cause I think I lost my way of writing a little lol but anyway, I hope you like it and I hope that for the ones who misses Harry and Model Y/N this can be a great gift. Love y'all and thank you for the constant support and love on them💜 Stay Safe and Always remember to tpwk and that you're so golden💜💜💜
It was about 3 pm when you and Harry naturally came into the studio set on the building of GQ magazine with tender smiles on your faces covered by masks as you greeted everybody in the room in which there wasn’t many people in it. Harry was dressed in one of the many Gucci shirts he owned, with freshly washed hair that made you smell his pleasant scent from inches away just because he was wearing your favoured one and you'd always recognize it. You also detected the many rings on his fingers, including the one that you had bought for him as a 27th birthday present and by god, he was so thrilled about the ring and had a big smile on his face all day so he felt like he wanted to use it every day. Oh and how good his birthday was. You weren't able to have a party, obviously, but you still managed to celebrate somehow. In the morning, you gave him his favorite breakfast and then he, Gemma and Anne stayed on a zoom call for about an hour. You bought some yellow balloons to put in the living room just to give that birthday vibe and during the night, you had no more than four friends in your LA house, all properly protected and saved. You just ordered a few pizzas and watched some of Harry's favorite movies. It was simple but with an incredible energy, receiving a tiny group around while doing something y'all liked was everything Harry wanted most, mainly because he would have to wake up early the next day to go to the set of "Don't Worry Darling." as they were about to finish filming.
But today was another day. In earlier Febraury, the GQ magazine team reached out to your businessmen with the proposal that you and Harry would record a video together answering questions about your relationship to be published before the Grammys and after you consider whether it would be the best thing to do or not because of the many reactions you could get from it, you both agreed to do it. You’d always try to consider every little possibility when it comes to your and Harry’s relationship as the media can be very mean and disrepecftul.
Instead of Harry, you had a black miniskirt, long sleeve white blouse and a small black blazer with your Fendi plaid boots, which was Harry's personal choice for today as you’ve told him that he could chose an outfit for you to wear. You two spent a few minutes in the makeup chair doing touch-ups on your hair and makeup right before you were both ready to shoot. You walked from the makeup table to the center of the studio where you could see the crew behind the cameras and the big white background with a table and two black chairs right in the center. The table had a computer upon it only. After sitting down and having the microphones popped at you, you looked up when you heard the directors asking if you were ready and when you nod and the count is over, the camera started recording.
‘‘Hi, I'm Harry Styles!'’ You greeted the camera with a big smile on your face, eliciting a laugh from Harry about your unexpected "joke.". Honestly, today was a good day for both of you where you were both in an extremely good mood. Unlike the other days where you were quarantined, you were emotionally untired and in the mood to film and have a small social interaction, which is rare.
‘’And I'm Y/N Y/L/N!'’ Harry said joining in the joke with you and then looking at you as he waited for you to say the rest of the introductory phrase but only realizing you were smiling at the camera without saying anything.   '’Y/N!'’  Harry called calmly causing you to turn your head to face him and realize he wanted you to continue instead of continuing himself.
'’Oh sorry, I thought you were going to continue'’    You whispered conspiratorially to him before taking a deep breath and resting your hands on the table when you returned your gaze to the camera.   ‘’And we’re gonna go undercover on the internet today!!’’
‘’Yeah, I'm scared!'’  Harry said when opening the laptop that was over the table and turning it on. You sat back in your chair so that you could see the laptop screen clearly and smirked a little when you heard your boyfriend's words.
‘’Hm... Let's do TikTok!'’   Harry said after a few seconds in silence while thinking. Harry's words made you chuckle his words because you knew that Harry doesn't comprehend anything about TikTok and didn't have an account but you both would usually find yourselves in bed watching tiktoks for hours. '’Which username should we put in?'’, Harry asked without taking his eyes off the screen.
‘’You should be! I’ll expose all of your deepest secrets in this video'’   You said while raising your eyebrows in a playful way eliciting a laugh from Harry, one by the way, that he tried hard to sound a little desperate for people watching  '’Alright, what should we do first?’’
‘’Put ‘’simp4harry’’ !"  You said with a smirk on your lips as Harry let out a nasal laugh but put that username either way.
‘’Okay, but how did you think of that username so fast? I think it’s very creative'’  Harry asked as he finished creating the account.
‘’It's the username I put on everything!'’  You answered as you ran your right hand through your hair.
‘’Oh yes? So is this your Only Fans username?'’  Harry mockingly asked making you laugh and take your eyes off the screen and look at his face.
‘’No, I don't even have an account on Only Fans, for God's sake Styles'’. You answered as mockingly as he did, '’Why? You have one?'’  You asked calmly.
‘’No, I'm a one-woman man!'’ Harry said to cause you to smile convincingly.
'’Can someone get me a bottle of water, please?'’ You asked gently for the people who were on the set and smiled thanking the person who brought you.
‘’Thank you!'’   You answered sounding a little bit shy, even though you’re a public person and listen to compliments quite often, you still don’t know how to react to them. You took a deep breath and raised your eyebrows before using your finger to point to the laptop screen as he opened your tiktok account,  ‘’I mean, I don’t even know why I’d be one of the best ones to follow since all I post on tiktok is unnecessary and stupid things that goes through my mind during the day.’’
‘’So inconvenient!'’  Harry whispered playfully. You two had this habit of being sassy to each other, and everyone around you was used to it. This craze started because the first time you guys hang out together in Shanghai, you just talked like you’ve known each other for years and not just five hours.
'’I didn't drink water today, do you want me to be thirsty? I thought you loved me!'’   You used a dramatic tone when speaking before drinking a sip of water.
‘’I did!'’   Harry replied in a low tone finishing logging in the TikTok feed.
‘’What do you mean ''you did''?'’   You answered in a loud tone holding the laugh with Harry.
‘’Okay, focus on TikTok! Focus on TikTok!'’  Harry said with a laugh as you now brought his attention to the screen as well,  ‘’Hm, let's look at my girl's account!'’, Harry said as he typed your tiktok username in the search bar. You took a sip of the water in the bottle and put it on the table,  ‘’AND by the way, do you guys know that this woman over here was listed by The Cut as one of the best tiktokers to follow today? And I’m so proud’’
‘’Well, I love how you appreciate your talents, love!'’  Harry replied sarcastically with a smirk on his lips making you chuckle. He didn't like it very much when you belittled something you did, even if it was something that was really bad, he didn't like it. Not just with you though, but with all the people in the world. Harry doesn't like it when people don't recognize their worth.
‘’Ok, here’s the first one! I’ll be reacting to it!'’   Harry spoke in a playful tone while clicking on the video as he knew very well it was not a react video but to answer questions. Harry clicked on the first video, this time you were propped up with your face close to the camera with folded arms dubbed to the sound that was in the background. You then take the transparent glasses pulled over the beige in a matter of color that was in front of you on the table and put them under your eyes never failing to dub the song. Then you move away from the camera and can see you are wearing leggings and a sweatshirt. And then you take your Louis Vuitton Coussin PM silver bag and place it on your shoulder before the video ends   ‘’Alright, so on this video you don’t do anything else than mimicking to the song.’’
‘’No, but like, seriously!'’   You complemented. '’We’ll watch some of them, and you’ll see how silly they are!
‘’I know that’s why I said that it stupid!'’   You exclaimed as you crossed your arms on the table. ‘’Let’s see the comments'’   You, yourself clicked on the comments area with your hand before Harry did and observed as comments poped up.
‘’Ok so the user @username1 asked ‘’How does it feel being the coolest person ever’’, tell me Y/N, how does it feel like?'’  Harry asked with a smirk to you as he turned his head to encounter your face with raised eyebrows.
‘’Oh, it feels so nice!'’ You responded in a playful tone causing both of you to laugh at your conviction, even though you knew it was a teasing tone and not narcissistic  ‘’Everybody knows I’m like, the coolest person alive so...'’  You convincingly said running your hand through a few strands of your hair and then take a deep breath and put a lock of hair behind your ear.   ‘’No, I’m just kidding. I’m not cool everyday, honestly there are days that I’m the most annoying person ever so I definetely have my good and bad days.’’
‘’Oh and those annoying moments'’   Harry said in an ironic tone, letting out a dramatic sigh causing you to frown and slightly open your mouth as an offense while holding your laughter as you exclaimed a loud '' excuse me?’‘ as an answer. Harry returned his attention to the comments on the screen again and frowned and brought his face slightly closer to the screen to read   ‘’Okay so @username2 asked ‘’new trend: are you engaged?’’. No guys are not. We’ve never been engaged.’’
‘’I feel like we’ve been engaged since 2017!'’   You said sarcastically remembering all the rumors about engagement, babies and dating. Since the first time you has met there were rumors, thousands of them, all the time but you and Harry chose not to comment on them as it would just be a big waste of time.
‘’Exactly and we weren’t even dating in 2017!'’  Harry complemented by looking away from the camera at his nodded face. '’But anyway...’’   Harry said taking a deep breath  '’I love how random your tiktok actually is!’’
"I know! I am planning a whole video to film on Grammys day because I'm in love with my outfit and i’m so excited for it!" You said changing the subject but being excited about the idea. After the announcement of nominations and with all the excitement you felt for Harry, you agreed you would attend the Grammys together; it was something important because not only was he running for three awards but also because you never attended any events side by side, except at the 2019 Met Gala. Then the pressures would increase but Harry knew it would be so much easier if he had you there with him. Because whether or not he took the awards home, he knew you were there and he would be grateful for at least being nominated for sure.
"Wait, which outfit did you pick? " Harry asked as he left the tiktok site on the laptop and entered Instagram. Harry selected searched for the hashtag of both of your names as a ship name on the explorer, so it would be easier to find what both of you wanted. "You showed me three different outfits but didn’t told me which one you chose!"
"Oh, I choose the black Prada one!"  You answered calmly. Harry stopped using the laptop and turned his head quickly to face his face causing you to look surprised and confused at him due to your reaction. It was his favorite outfit from the three that you had shown to him. "What?I wanna look great before you win your first award and I start ugly crying."
"Oh my god, you’re probably more excited than me." Harry said turning his attention back to the laptop screen.
"Of course I am, I cannot wait to walk around telling people that my boyfriend is not only a three times grammy nominated but a grammy winner!" You answered as you grabbed the water bottle that you had previously asked and drinking a sip.
"Anyway, let’s see!" Harry said as he started searching through the hashtag posts, also drawing his attention to the same screen. You then see a post that catches your eye and points it so that Harry can click. The post was a picture of Harry on the Met Gala carpet with ‘’Harry pierced his own ear for the Met Gala with a needle’’ written on it. "Ok, that’s true! But, now ask me why I had to pierce my own ear?!"  He asked ironically, as if he were playing a trick on you, because he knew very well you had a mini argument that day since you refused to pierce his ear with the fricking needle.
"I told you I wouldn’t do it! Do you even have any idea of how dangerous that was?"  You replied right after rolling your eyes, but your tone of voice remained calm and you didn't get heated when you spoke. "You know you need to sterilize, right? And what if you had caught an infection? Do you really think I was going to do that? You're an adult. I can't stop you, but I wasn't going to pierce your ear."
"Hey, hey, hey!" He said causing you to stop talking and look at him. Harry raised his eyebrows and looked at you with a smirk before speaking. "The thing is: I really wanted to pierce my ear, and we wear finishing getting ready in New York. I asked Y/N if she had a needle. Neither her and Alessandro wanted to do it. Literally no one wanted to do it but I was very much decided so I did it myself and my ear is completely fine by the way" Harry said the last part making you roll your eyes again while looking at the camera and take a deep breath.
"Anyway..." You said as you dived back into the posts. In one of them you read someone saying in a comment that you and Harry would probably never fight. "Here, this one says ‘’I feel like they’re the type of couple that never fights and when they do, the fight lasts for 30 seconds’’".
"Absolutely untrue!" Harry said almost that immidiately while you nodded agreeing with him.
"Guys, every couple in the world argues. It’s natural, it’s not because we don’t have big arguments and talk shit about each other on the internet that we don’t have conflicts or understatement" You explained. You and Harry are really compatible, but you still have your moments and it’s important to recognize it. No relationship is perfect and disagreeing on things is absolutely understandable.
"Yeah, specially ‘cause we’re different people that come from different places and had different experiences. As long as the disagreements are not causing you serious mental and emotional harm is normal" Harry complemented your thought. It’s important to notice when a relationship is not making you feel good anymore. If your unhappy for any reason is important to leave and to search for help if needed. "See, if you could change anything in our relationship, what would it be?" Harry asked making you pay attention to his words and face as you thought attentively in silence for a few seconds.
"I think I would probably change the fact that we’re usually really far away from each other!" You said calmly while looking at him. "Like, you’re always travelling and so I am, so I feel like it can get hard sometimes because of that and I’d definitely would change that if I could do it without like, changing our whole careers and lives."
"Yeah, I’d probably change that as well!" Harry agreed nodding to you as he was thinking as well. "I’m very grateful for quarantine on that point because we could spend more time together without being so long apart from each other. Of course I wish it was on different situations but I’m grateful for that" Harry said and you could understand that completely. You and Harry had been dating since 2018 and had spend months apart from each other and only you both truly knew how hard it could get sometimes, specially when you had the whole world to judge both of you.
"I fully understand it! Sometimes I think about everyone who spent this past year alone, and I’m really grateful for having you with me...LIke, you’re my best friend, you know this" You said looking at Harry’s face. He had a growing tender smile on his face that was starting to make you nervous and emotional on the same time as you remembered the past year. You felt your eyes getting wet and let out a chuckle looking away from his gaze. "I’m getting emotional! It’s all about my cancer rising today!"
"Oh sure, it’s always zodiac’s fault!" Harry said laughing and then looking at the screen and the crew on the backstage while gesturing with his hands. "That’s probably one thing about Y/N that you guys don’t know. She fully believes on zodiac signs and those stuffs. Actually, there was one time when she told me that we couldn’t be together because our signs were incompatible."
"Okay but like, Harry is an Aquarius and I’m a Taurus. We are incompatible when it comes to zodiac signs!" You said between giggles as you tried justifying your point even though Harry knew you were joking when you said that to him. He didn’t know at the time though he was very much surprised and scared when you said it.
"But anyway, I’m glad that we spend this time together. It’s been weird and funny at the same time like the spaghetti day!" Harry said holding his giggles as he watched your eyes widen because you knew exactly what he was talking about.
"NO, we're not talking about this!" You talked fastly while laughing at the same time as Harry as you both remembered that one night in quarantine when a spaghetti night went completely wrong and he came on the kitchen to see you and a kitchen with spaghetti and tomato sauce all over the floor and the walls and how you cried to convince him to clean the whole kitchen alone and failed. "Ok, let's finish the video here before things are leaked!" You said giggling.
"Alright, this was very nice. Thank you GQ for having us and I hope we weren't the worst guests you've ever had!" Harry said joking even though you both knew that it was quite hard to be very open in the media specially about your relationship but you tried your hardest.
"Don't forget to watch Harry peform on Grammys on sunday!" You said.

Zuko & Katara's Relationship Dynamic
This is like the third or fourth time I've tried to write up this post so please bare with me.
Oh wow. That video. Hopefully everyone has seen it now. Not only did it articulate arguments I've been making for years, but it also brought up ideas I had never thought of or noticed before. Watching that and watching the second half of Book 3 again (because it's my favorite) made me want to redo my zutara dynamic post.
I'm going to be using the tiny bits and pieces the show gave us to see how Zuko and Katara's relationship looks and how it would look if they gave us more because...Bryke really fucking hated zutara. I mean, I guess they did.
Katara is compassionate; Zuko is empathetic
Tumblr media
A lot of anti-zutara arguments have said that Zuko and Katara could never be together because they would constantly fight and hate each other and it end sooner than later. Not only does this actually describe maiko, but that argument would need to ignore the characters' actual character.
One of Katara's biggest character traits is how compassionate she is. She has a drive to help others and ease their pain. Whether it's getting Aang out of the iceberg or healing a Fire Nation fishing village, Katara will go out of her way to help someone in need.
Katara: No. I will never ever turn my back on people who need me.
Zuko is very emotional and passionate person. As much as he tried to hide it to appease his father, Zuko does want to open up and connect with people. Unfortunately, aside from his uncle, most of the other people he knows are like Zhao and Azula. Not the most understanding of crowds. But because of this he can pick up what people are really thinking and feeling. Think of it as a defense mechanism he developed growing up around people like Azula.
Tumblr media
Get these two kinds of people together and you get the crystal catacombs scene. Katara lashes out at Zuko until she breaks down. When she does Zuko opens up with empathy since they have something in common. This creates the beginning of an understanding between the two. Zuko uses that to finally open up to someone who isn't his uncle and Katara listens and reaches out to help. Contrast to the first episode of Book 3 when Zuko tries to voice his thoughts and concerns to Mai and she...doesn't really care.
Something similar happens during The Southern Raiders. Zuko figures out that Katara is taking out her anger of being separated from her father by The Fire Nation onto him and even connecting her mother's death to him.
It's not the first time Zuko has done this either. He easily figured out that Sokka was planning on going to The Boiling Rock. He does it again during Sozin's Comet when he tells Katara that Aang needs to figure out what to do about Ozai by himself.
There's a noticeable pattern of behavior by the time Sozin's Comet arrives. Zuko voices his concerns about meeting his uncle again and Katara is right there to help him through it.
Zuko's empathy combined with Katara's compassion creates almost a cycle of understanding and emotional vulnerability that the two can't really get with anyone else. One notices the other having concerns or problems and goes to give comfort by words or by actions.
Zuko still has a temper but so does Katara
Tumblr media
Even after Zuko's fever dream character change thing, even after The Day of Black Sun, he still has it in him to yell at anyone who commits even the slightest transgressions against him:
Aang: That one felt kinda hot. Zuko: Don't patronize me. You know what it's supposed to look like. Aang: Sorry, sifu hotman. Zuko: And stop calling me that!
Sokka: So all we have to do is make Zuko angry. Easy enough. *pokes him with his sword* *annoying laugh* Zuko: All right! Cut it out!
Maybe it's the firebender in him or maybe he really is just like that. Basically if you annoy him, he'll let you know. What people sometimes overlook is that while it takes Katara a bit longer, she also gets worked up when people upset her.
Tumblr media
Toph: What's the matter? Can't handle some dirt, Madame Fussy Britches? Katara: Oh, sorry, did I splash you, mud slug?
And remember, it was Katara getting angry at Sokka that even broke the iceberg that revealed Aang.
Katara: Ugh, I'm embarrassed to be related to you! Ever since Mom died I've been doing all the work around camp while you've been off playing soldier! Sokka: Uh... Katara? Katara: I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you, NOT PLEASANT! Sokka: Katara! Settle down! Katara: No, that's it. I'm done helping you. From now on, you're on your own!
The point is that it is both Zuko and Katara that are very passionate and emotional people. One of them isn't emotionally dominating the other because they both wear their emotions on their sleeves.
This also comes in to play when they set goals for themselves. When Zuko sets a goal, he puts everything into it. Katara is the same way. The difference is that Zuko's drive sometimes gives him a one-track mind while Katara is more flexible. Like for example Zuko being so focused on finding Aang before Sozin's Comet that he ignores Toph's story about her childhood versus Katara wanting to go to the North Pole but taking time to stop and help whoever they come across.
This passion also fuels their values and how strongly they stand by their beliefs. I already put The Painted Lady quote up above but Zuko's morality is what is making him so angry at himself during The Beach. He knows what he did was wrong, but he couldn't face it yet.
Sometimes their emotions get the better of them, but it's only because they are passionate about what they're doing.
Their natural teamwork is amazing
Tumblr media
I can't provide a lot of clues in this bit because it's more of a visual thing. Just consider how flawlessly their plans worked during their attack on The Southern Raiders. Especially when you consider that it was a stealth mission so they barely even said anything to each other during and it still went incredibly well.
You could see it again during their mock battle with The Melon Lord. Sokka must have noticed because he paired them together to deliver some "liquidy-hot offence." And they pulled it off, again, without having to say anything.
They've only been a team for a few weeks(?), days(?) but they act as if they've been doing it for years.
They trust each other's judgment
Tumblr media
Piggybacking of the previous point, Zuko and Katara have only been a team for a while but there seems to be a level of understanding in terms of judgement. They both know that whatever the other chooses is going to be a well-thought out decision. Maybe it's because they see each other as the mature members of the group even though Sokka is the same age as Zuko? I don't know.
Aang disappears right before they embark on their fight against the Fire Lord, and out of nowhere, Katara puts Zuko in charge.
Zuko: Get out of the bison's mouth, Sokka. We have a real problem here. Aang is nowhere to be found and the comet is only two days away. Katara: What should we do Zuko? Zuko: I don't know. Why are you all looking at me? Katara: Well, you are kind of the expert on tracking Aang.
and that wasn't the first time in that episode that she went along with one of Zuko's decisions
Katara: Aang, don't walk away from this. *She begins to walk towards him as a hand touches her shoulder to stop her from doing so.* Zuko: Let him go. He needs time to sort it out by himself.
As a lot of people have pointed out during the entirety of The Southern Raiders, Zuko never gives a suggestion on what he thinks Katara should do. Aside from making it a stealth mission, he follows her lead the entire way.
Katara teases Zuko (and he lets her)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fun one. This one has two parts: pre and post The Southern Raiders.
Before The Southern Raiders, Katara was tolerating Zuko. She was still angry with him about the betrayal at Ba Sing Se. Getting little jabs at him was the only thing that was really helping her from loosing her cool around him.
Katara: I'm sorry. I'm just laughing at the irony. You know... how it would have been nice for us if you lost your firebending a long time ago? Zuko: Well it's not lost. It's just weaker for some reason. Katara: Maybe you're just not as good as you think you are. Toph: Ouch.
He just finished yelling at Aang and Sokka but all he does is glare at Katara. She does it again, but to be fair, he kind of set himself up for it.
Zuko: It's a sacred form that happens to be thousands of years old! Katara: Oh yeah? What's your little form called? Zuko: ...The Dancing Dragon.
Then comes post The Southern Raiders and...yeah, she's still picking on him and he still lets her. Granted it's a lot more playful this time around.
Zuko: They make me totally stiff and humorless. Katara: Actually, I think that actor's pretty spot on. Zuko: How could you say that? Actor Uncle: Let's forget about the Avatar and get massages. Actor Zuko: How could you say that?! (Cut back to Katara wearing a satisfied grin on her face and she looks to an expressionless Zuko as he slouches in his seat.)
I love pointing it out every time. She teases him and he does nothing about it.
Katara: Er, no. I was looking for cooking pots in the attic and I found this. Look at baby Zuko! Isn't he cute? Oh lighten up, I was just teasing.
And she admits it!
-
So what can we take away from this? From what little time they were given together (thanks, Bryke) it seems that Zuko and Katara really understand each other on an intimate emotional level. They can sense when the other is distressed and offer comfort. They're both passionate in and out of combat, for better or for worse. They're comfortable with each other as if they've known each other for years even though it's such a short time. Katara also likes to add a little bit of playfulness in there with Zuko letting her have her fun, again, showing how comfortable they are with each other.
I do think their relationship could have gone to romantic sooner than later if you would have given it a bit more time. Like first half of a hypothetical Book 4.
To me, at least.
