It was no surprise to him that he was still alive, though finding food and clean water was his main concern on a day to day. Running into her had been a blessing. He was used to being alone, but now that the world was littered with the undead, and a living population that was no better, he was glad to have a comrade. 

He nodded slightly, not surprised by her answer. The way she patched him up with minimal pain would have given her away, under other circumstances. 

“Yeah, I guess I did.” He mused, almost as shocked as she was at it. The sound of laughter almost forgotten, buried deep in his memories of before. “I served in Iraq, and Afghanistan.” He informed her. “Special forces.” He added simply. He supposed it was okay to talk about now, what with everyone in charge more than likely dead. “Did you have a family before all of this?” He questioned.

Ill be honest once i actually Learned what the "male gaze" is meant to be (it'd be more accurate to call it the "patriarchal gaze" imo) it has gotten Even More Irritating to see people be like omg female gaaaaze!
