Hey! I am the anon who ask for an alternative for "grisha", and, as someone who don't know Russian culture or language, I want to ask your opinion on what I thought.

What do you think of "bditel'nyy" (which should mean awake, vigilant, according to an English-Russian dictionary I found online, but this could be wrong) as a substitute, at least as a formal title, for "grisha"? I was inspired by the "egregore", especially Frater Tenebris' definition: "[…] an occult term for an independently functioning spiritual entity created by one or more magick practitioners. Many egregores begin as thought-forms but then become capable of operating independently of the practitioners", with "thought-form" being "an esoteric entity created by magick […] or from worship and prayer by generations of believers". The definitions of Gaetan Delaforge and René Guénon respectively also seem interesting in this sense: "egregore" is "a kind of group mind which is created when people consciously come together for a common purpose", "possessing a subtle force made up in a way of the contributions of all its members past and present, and which is consequently all the more considerable and able to produce greater effects as the collectivity is older and is composed of a greater number of members".

In other words, it would be related to: 1) an elite spiritual group, who maintain traditions and are vigilant; 2) a group mind; and 3) an independent magical being arising from the collective mind.

PS.: Thank you for answering my first question! And, by any chance, do you think it's offensive to take a Western concept for a group that is part of a country inspired by Russia?

ah my apologies! I took your previous ask to mean a canonical replacement for grisha instead of a fictional exercise in creativity.

if you're searching for answers about russian culture and language, I'd recommend asking the slavic members of this community, of which there are actually many. I believe @stromuprisahat could help you out, if not with your question then just to recc others with more knowledge on the subject.

bditel'nyy is actually fun! and I'm sure there are many russian words or phrases you could use in your writing to replace the word grisha, especially if you came up with the lore for why the phrase exists and where it does and how it's dispersed throughout the world/who uses it/how it affects grisha culture and all of that other worldbuilding stuff which is incredibly fun. so I say go for ideas like that! it's cool and interesting.

I'm going to give a bit of a neutral reaction to frater tenebris and the term egregore in general, however. again, I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but I think you should be wary of how you incorporate what seems to be american centric paganism into a tsarist russia built on what appears to be a mixture of slavic paganism and the russian orthodoxy. while I think the meaning of the term itself could be fun to play around with, I'd give it some thought and maybe ask around more. I'm also not partial to the "elite spiritual group mind" aspect of it, personally, but a name doesn't have to be logical or strictly defining of its members, so that's really one of my own hang ups lol. you could have real fun creatively with that if you used it right.

I love this creative peek into sab lore too! it's neat to explore rewriting it, considering the canonical lore is so lacking, and even sankt grigori is a shallow excuse for worldbuilding when it comes to the true naming of a whole people, imo. there are so many aspects of the grishaverse that could be built on lore wise in much more rich and complex ways.

last note: I do think it's probably not a great idea to use a western concept for a group of people within a country inspired by russia. but at the same time, the grisha themselves take heavy inspiration from western jewish persecution and ghettoization. so in general, I'd be careful of both russian culture and your interpretations of the grisha and how they're named/treated in your world.

Smut sentence starters | Your body was made for mine." - Linda/8ug8ear

She's woken up by a treacherous sun ray hitting her face. She tries rolling in the sofa bed, but it's no use. She can't go back to sleep. Eyes still closed, she knows where she is by the smell alone. Bea's place. Warm and quiet. Perfect to ease her throbbing headache. She remembers being at the bar, shift over, and taking a huff of Black Lace like she was invited to by some one-night friend. Then, nothing but vague memories. Her place felt empty, so she crashed at Bea's instead. She didn't come here just to sleep. She's naked. Her body hurting in all the right places. She laughs to herself, getting out of bed, and finally hearing that Bea's in the bathroom, washing off after that heated night.

"Morning,"Bea says first without looking at her when Linda enters the room.

"Hey," she replies in a broken voice.

She stops by the door, and looks at her output dreamily. She's seated in the bathtub, water up to her hips, and her perky nipples in plain sight. Linda's gaze lingers a moment.

"Gonna join, or are you just gonna stay there and watch?" Bea finally asks, a glimmer of mischief in her clear eyes.

"Depends, wanna put on a show?" she teases back, yet already comes closer.

Bea offers her hand to help her output climb into the tub and sit in front of her. She pressed her body flush to hers, head falling on her shoulder as she hums pleasantly. The water's barely warm. It's the feeling of Bea's skin that heats up her body, and her wandering hands caressing her all over. They end on her heavy chest, kneading at her breasts, nipples in between her fingers.

"Haven't had enough of me, huh?" Linda tries to sound smug, but her sentence ends in a mellow mew as her cyber hands roam her outputs legs.

"Of you? Never," she replies, leaning to pepper her neck with kisses that quickly turn into nips, "Not when you moan like that."

"Like you'd stop if I stayed quiet," she puffs, and bites her lips to stiffen her noises.

Her silence doesn't even last a minute. Bea's hand wanders lower, just above her mons, and Linda arches closer to her touch as she emits a soft whimper.

"Like you can stay quiet," Bea teases back into the shell of her ear, "Can't help but answer to every touch. Every word. It's like your body was made for mine."

"Fuck," Linda drags on, lying harder on Bea and continuing in a breathless whisper, "Don't say stuff like that."

"Don't like it?" Bea jokes, fingers going lower still.

"It's not- Don't make my heart race like that."

"Oh, so you do like it?" she keeps going, nibbling on her ear before adding, "Like when I say you're mine?"

"Bug!" she calls, metal nails digging into her flesh.

But her whimper doesn't stop her output from marking her skin with her teeth as her fingers tease her.

♡ A shower fan though tbh. Because then he can stand behind you as the water warms, holding you close with his arms around your waist and swaying lightly

♡ Heart eyes melt into laughter when you in your amusement tease him, asking him what else is in there as he so gently gets you sorted out

♡ Soon you’re both laying side by side just lazily chatting and laughing, both of your heads turned upon the pillows to look each other in the eyes and Yeosang’s hand joined with yours between you two

♡ “So, uh, I don’t think we’ll fall asleep soon…wanna watch some cartoons for a bit?”

♡ You guys cuddle and watch something cute and fluffy 🥹 but Yeosang’s such a tease even during that he’s like “wow, crazy to think in a moment like this what we were just doing huh 😏”

♡ But all in all he stays soft, hand creeping back to yours and eyes barely leaving you even with the show on. When your lashes start to flutter sleepily, he smiles and sings you a lullaby

San

♡ Sorry, you’re probably not leaving the bed with this one at least not if he gets his way

♡ San personifies the phrase ‘stuck like glue’ after a night like you guys just had, his body pressed as close as he can get as his hands gently caress your sides

♡ Such naturally melts into a massage, his hands digging in a little tighter to relieve any tension you might have left

♡ Every word that falls from his lips is praise, praise for your beauty, how you make him feel, endless ways to tell you he loves you

♡ Is not going to be in the mood to get up and shower or anything unless you realllly want to, otherwise prepare to be bedbound! He lowkey forgets to do any care right away because he's so wrapped up in just looking at you like you're the biggest jackpot he's ever won

♡ Then suddenly you see his eyes widen as he remembers all the stuff he got, like this really relaxing massage oil that’s supposed to make your muscles feel great after use and y’all got in some use. “Mingi, are you trying to go for round two?” “Maaaybeeee…” You smack his shoulder lightly at the teasing expression, shaking your head and giggling. “Ow! I was just kidding! 🥺”

♡ His other favorite thing to do is after that, grabbing you something fresh to throw on from the nearby dresser AKA one of his shirts. Always.

♡ Literally you guys could be as spent as anything and this man will still be a chatterbox after, his hand drawing circles on your arms or chest as he goes on about how he likes that new jacket of yours or if aliens exist or what color your walls should be if you guys bought a house together

♡ After a while he’s sort of like oh shit wait do you want to shower or anything??? And you’re just like yeah sure

♡ So he leads you by the hand into the shower, feeling the water with his hand first to make sure it’s exactly how you like it 🥺

♡ Incredibly touchy-feely in the shower, but this time very softly, turning you around as if twirling you in a dance and admiring you as he lathers you up super gently

♡ You want a snack later? MAKES YOU SOMETHING BY HAND. King behavior for sure

Jongho

♡ After such times, this is when Jongho really likes to hold you close. For him, such a bond as you've shared takes trust, love, and he’s honored you both feel ready to share all of each other like that

♡ Likes to just stay like that for some time, just breathing in the closeness as his hand runs up and down your back

Shakes his head at you with exasperation if you kick up a fuss, just sets you down with more giggles if you don't. Either way, though, he's so giving he starts showering both of you and you're like oh no you don't and that's how you end up pampering him back 🩷
