I just answered this one to someone else, so besides Santiago, I don't hear ANYONE talking about Antoine in the VC series. You know he's hot af yet no one talks about him 😭 look he's an emo musician who almost helped his bestie/lover/something or other get revenge on his husband for allowing attempted murder but then backed out bc he was like yeahhh this is too messy for me... but then got almost killed bc said husband in question burned down the place with them in it... he's fine tho... he's fine now... back to just being regular hot, not on fire hot.

There are a couple in the VC books - Seth and Fareed is number one unpopular ship. No one ever talks about them yet they're literally RIGHT THERE EXISTING AS TWO CHAOTIC DOCTORS WHO CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF EACH OTHER. Also one of them is 6,000 years old and the other is like... 50 when they meet 🤣 Seth really robbed the cradle. But like... they even dress alike. So here on tumblr, my username is a reference to the hobbit and to being short-- apparently Tolkien dwarves could get up to my height! I think at the time 'hobbitsized' was taken or id have gone for that, though im not. that short. at this point i kind of wish it was something different but ive had this username a very long time! On ao3, leetleblue is a reference to Jester, the little blue tiefling herself!

4.) How do you channel characters' voices and personalities?

It probably comes from rewatching the show 64684 times😅 if I'm struggling to write a particular scene that requires a certain emotion, I usually go back to the show to find a scene where a character is displaying the emotion I need to write.

5.)What techniques do you use to create believable dialogue?

Hmm...not sure, really. I guess I look at the character I'm writing for, and think of how they would process the conversation. If needed, I go back to the show.

14.) How do you go about researching details or canon information?

For Canon information, I go based off of the show, or asking the fandom for their opinion. Researching details, typically Google if I'm writing a theme I haven't dealt with myself.

15.) Do you plan your fics or prefer to let the story unfold as you write?

I don't think I've ever planned a fic, haha. An idea pops into my head, and typically takes on a life of it's own after that.

24.) What advice would you give to someone who wants to start writing fanfiction?

Your first couple of works may not always be great, but it's a starting point, and you'll only get better from there. You may be tempted to delete your early works as you get better, but make sure to keep it at least for yourself, so you can see how far you've come❤️

25.) Are there any specific writing tools that you find helpful?

There's a user on here (the name escapes me at the moment) who has entire lists of things like 'words to use other than said' or 'words to use to describe xyz' those have always been really helpful!

34.) Are there any fic writing tips or tricks you've learned along the way that you'd like to share?

If you cry, the reader cries❤️ make sure you're channeling the emotions of your characters and writing with an understanding of what you want your readers to feel and experience.

35.) What do you enjoy most about being a fic writer?

The community🫶🏼 I've met so many incredible people whose work I admire and inspires me. I truly started writing for myself and did not expect the friendships I would build along the way.

[Note: this drabble takes place during Kaze and Aura's romance period, before they were aware they were siblings. No trigger warnings of note other than war mentions]

The trip to the Ladnajredvi keep had been uneventful. A rare opportunity to take an airship presented itself, and, well, who was he to deny it. And her, of course. Aura was always an enthusiast of the skies; Giving the young gunmage repeated heart attacks by leaning too close to the edge. The fence was only high enough to reach above her navel, so anyone willing to risk it could give her just a little push and easily claim the death as an accident -

"....Rorahm, you're catastrophizing." Inevitably, the words would leave her lips accompanied by soft laughter. Rosy cheeks and a slender digit pressing to his own mouth as he spoke up. He could never really win, with her. They were both freshly into their second decade of life and, as the Spiral willed it, life on Windaria was typically short. The ceaseless wars raging on the southern border made sure of that.

Lir Hassan was positioned further to the west, but their forces were still needed. Even within Lahriktaar itself, dissent only continued to build following the Priest Elder's assassination. That, and he had a reputation. The kind of reputation which tended to paint a target on one's back.

Combined, it all contributed to a simple fact; Svaardzjetrorahm was a worried man, and Haßhadjetraiya was gleefully reckless.

That, too, contributed to his overall state of mind.

Nevertheless, at least his visions of darling Aura splattered somewhere tens of meters below could finally come to a close when the hulking construct of metal began its steady descent outside the walls of the keep. The thrum of the Soil engine gradually quietened, a pulsating heartbeat in its own right. The airship was asleep now, with its segmented wings folded and tucked to its sides. Every great beast needed its due rest, and this one had done well to carry them here.

The ramps extended and the pair of Windarians proceeded on their way, blending into the stream of people. Then came the usual process of languishing outside the gate for a while, getting their papers checked and finally, they stepped into the fortress-city for the first time in months.

"I missed being here." The hazel-haired Windarian breathed in deep, taking in the fresh air tinged with the aroma of spices. The fair was in full swing, canopies of colorful fabrics shielding market-goers from the sun.

"Mm." The Black Wind replied with a hum as they walked, browsing various stalls and navigating the heavy traffic.

Come to think of it, he scarcely had the opportunity to even visit, nowadays. Campaigns with no end in sight and a talk of the potential Misterian threat to boot, ceasefire hanging by a thread... Something about the coming of the Demon Swordsman. Mostly lies and rumors, a targeted attack on the morale of the High Temple, no doubt. Briefly, he wondered whether the Maken was as impressive as that time he got to view the Magun in person.

Or, rather, on person. A champion who had since passed with the Soil, may the Winds guide his spirit. The man was formidable even in his final years. Rorahm's right hand reached for a satchel of saki, pouring a handful of jingling coins and sliding them ontop a counter. The old merchant stroked his rather tremendous beard before wordlessly nodding. Aura was already packing up the goods.

"What's all that for, anyway?" The summoner inquired, one brow raised above the sygni of the Phoenix. It was certainly too much for either of them and he wasn't really a fan of makulu. The one time he's had them, they left a funny taste on his tongue for hours.

"You don't like them?" Aura turned, cranberry eyes looking up to meet sea blues. There was a degree of surprise, but also.. ah, that devious glimmer of Aura-scheme he had since learned to recognize. She was planning something, and the Wind wasn't about to let it slip that he had noticed.

"Tried them, once." He admitted. "Years ago." Speaking of, he really had no idea when.

"How much were those, anyway?"

"Uh."

Surely not much. He did not tend to spend a lot on sweets. That would just be irresponsible. But, Aura, oh, Aura. Whenever there was an occasion, treats were an absolute must. "Maybe a little more than ten saki."

The girl's expression shifted to a wide smile. "That's because they weren't the real deal, you dork. I swear, if you keep buying cheap stuff you're just scamming yourself. Why not get an actual special, once in a while? That way you're not wasting your money."

Well, she did have a point. As he opened his mouth to contest it -

- she promptly snuck a piece in. Her thumb remained on his lips, effectively shushing him.

"Au -" A complaint half-formed before the redhead gave up and began chewing. He was clearly determined to remain grumpy, and yet: the way the crispy exterior caved in to welcome cream filling with a slightly spicy taste, a sharp note of gaba fruit, and the all-encompassing sweetness must have done a number on his expression, because soon enough, Aura was knee-deep into a fit of giggling.

"...." A lighter shade of red than his hair crept onto Rorahm's features, and he turned his head away. A still-grumpy, yet also comically quiet, "...what," followed.

The laughter did not cease when he felt her arms wrap around his form, the woman's face practically buried in his cape as she continued to chortle in a, now, rather unwomanlike manner. Eventually, the giggling stopped, and she lifted her face from the sea of dark fabric. Her eyes were positively glowing. "You're so cute. I love you so much."

"I'm... cute..?" The young Black Wind's voice was a mixture of emotion he was clearly not experienced with.

Golden Aura pulled him closer - or, rather, pulled herself closer to him. At least they were out of the crowd by now, it would be quite awkward for two entangled lovebirds to become a glorified speed bump.

With her own, slightly lighter, complexion now further warmed by a shade of pink, she sighed dreamily. "So cute."

Black Wind was a man who never expected to hear himself being labeled "cute", or "adorable", or even "nice". Adjectives such as "pleasant", "lovely", or likewise "delightful" were nowhere to be found on his list of words to be associated with.

And that was something Aura found infinitely hilarious. She had found her weapon. Pelting him with endearing terms he still hadn't built up his defenses against. Woe be him, indeed.

"As sweet as a makulu pastry. The genuine kind."

Svaardzjetrorahm said nothing, pulling up the rim of his cape as though that would help hide his internal combustion. His heart was beating faster, a fluttering sensation building in his stomach that threatened to wrest control of his knees. If this kept up, he would actually have to sit down and process it all.

"Saßu." He commented, so intelligently. This only caused his darling Aura to smile even wider. A cheeky vixen, she could be. Twirling an edge of his garments, she rose taller on the tips of her toes and purred.

"I was planning to have at least some of them, but now I'm starting to think it will be so much more fun to just feed them all to you instead. If you're going to keep being so adorable, then I can simply not resist the idea!"

And the giggling was back, full force.

Black Wind groaned. He was still blushing.

...And still "cute".

17. Your favorite character to write this year? It is with a heavy heart I must concede, Claus continues to steal the show. There's somethin really engaging to me about developing him in these postgame fics, how he becomes such a dynamic character over the span of like 30 years. The Settled Score in particular is so dense with flashbacks, constantly weaving the past and present together - so I end up with lots of interesting little cross-sections of Claus' growth as a person. I can put carefree kid Claus right up next to the haggard PTSD-addled survivor he's become. Or the Masked Man right up against his present-day defiant love & optimism. I'm workin' with the whole Ship of Theseus at once. It's loads of fun discovering & highlighting the things he's outgrown, versus the things that've stayed exactly the same.

Porky's also a top contender. His in-the-flesh appearances in TSS are scarce, and some haven't been posted yet. In this fic he's like an awful misanthropic sickness haunting the world, living rent free in the rest of the cast's heads. An invisible implication beneath each little thing. Even when I'm not writing Porky, I'm definitely writing Porky. But every time I do get to work on a scene where he's physically present, I'm hyped as hell. I love writing his bitter & downright nasty dialogue, how pitiful he is, how he's so unrepentantly self-assured. In contrast with Claus, it's also a blast writing a character who petulantly refuses to grow, and instead prides himself in his stagnation.

I'll mention Hox, the former Pigmask Colonel, as a bonus. Out of the handful of "OCs" I've thrown together in this project, I think she's my fav. I always get a kick outta writing her. She's a brazen burly lady in her 50's, she's funny, she's straightforward, she gets shit done. She's got a complicated past, but since she very deliberately chooses not to wallow over it, you've kinda just gotta take little scraps of it at face value. She has surprisingly subtly sensitive interactions with characters you'd expect her to hate, and it makes me sappy as hell. Gotta love her.

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year? That this one goddamn fic was gonna take me all year. And then some. I've got no ETA on finishing it, it'll be done whenever it's done. After banging out so many fics last year though, it's weird slowing down like this for the sake of just one. I was expecting I'd wanna work on a bunch of oneshots instead, but this Fucking Thing had other plans. I'm happy with it. Finally learning how to take my time and commit to a long-term project feels really nice, actually.

shadowheart/wyll/karlach keeps taking up mental real estate even though I super did not mean to write that into ease-- I read it back for the edit and went. oh! do I ship this now?-- but I think Wyll would try to do his Act 2 dancing scene with both of them and Shadowheart would do pretty well! Karlach though. Not so good. She's got enthusiasm, she's eager to please, she loves to do a lil dancey dance. She doesn't fall over, but it's a near thing.

She can admire the artistry when Shadowheart and Wyll dance together, but she'd rather be touching more, personally.

Hiya! thanks for the ask! Sorry it's so late, I hope you catch this

26. What fic are you proudest of?

Oh that's tough. Depends on what kind of proud. Like, there's Grooming Instincts, my first big wing kink story, which went absolutely gangbusters and got picked up by the claw and so it's got the numbers. It's achieved a certain level of.... fandom classic??? status?? that I do hold in my heart like a little precious gem. It's something I always hoped for but never dared to think would actually happen, especially not in a fandom as huge and old as destiel. So. I am very, very proud of that.

But in the long run I don't think it's the best written of my stories. I've learned a lot in the years since I wrote that fic, and maybe I've lost something along the way, but as far as the actual writing goes? I think I'm proudest of either Roshambo or Human Error, or possibly I Been Blind.... all three of which I realize now are stories where Cas is newly human lol. I Been Blind I'm especially proud of because it was the first time I set out intentionally to write a humorous story, and I think I did alright for myself. Human Error contains some of both the easiest and the hardest writing I've ever done, so it has a special place due to that. (Also somebody who I admire very much enjoys it enough to have made me a hand-bound copy which..... I treasure. @archiival) And Roshambo was is just... idk, I felt like I leveled up on that one. Between switching between 3 different povs and, I think, nailing the weird mix of show era vibes I was going for (season 1 overall but with a bit of s4 cas but also he's human like s9??) It's just... always nice when you actually feel like you did what you set out to do successfully.

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

oh... everywhere. i joke a lot that i'm not allowed to watch new movies (or, lbr, any movie or tv show ever) because i always end up turning it into an au in my head within the first five minutes. sometimes i'll be listening to a song i've heard a billion times and a line will just click and suddenly i have a fully formed plot in my head! the inspiration really just comes at the drop of a hat and it's the best/worst thing in the world.

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

TOO MANY 😫 i have 12 wips in my main folder and another 13 plot docs in different folder, not to mention at least 3 other ideas that are buried somewhere in various DMs with friends that i forgot to write down.

one that's not written down anywhere but lives rent free in my head is a convention au where eddie's a graphic novelist who's been booked at a couple cons to promote his latest work, and he meets chrissy who ends up being his handler for the day while working as a volunteer at the convention. (i've never been involved with a convention as anything but a fan so i have Zero idea how it works behind the scenes but that's what fic is for, right?!) eddie sort of hates conventions because they make him feel like a commodity rather than a human being and if it were up to him, he wouldn't do them at all, but chrissy makes sure he takes as many breaks as he needs and always has water and snacks on hand (and probably coffee too) which endears her to him ofc (as if he didn't already think she's cute as a button from the start) and over the course of the day he works on a sketch just for her 🥹
