A heart to heart about Jessi’s sister’s boyfriend

“Hey sweet-pea, Jessi-bear, I hope you two are hungry because—“

Jessi stormed right past your dad, barely granting him a glance as she darted straight down the hallway and into her room. The two of you stood in silence and listened as she slammed her door.

Your mouth tightened into a long, thin line and you closed the front door behind you— settling your overnight and Jessi’s backpack you had been carrying down on the floor.

Your dad raised his eyebrows. “What.. uh, what’s that about?”

Kissing your teeth, you answered; “I don’t even know anymore, dad. I think she’s mad at me for having a boyfriend,” — and also extremely embarrassed because you caught her stealing one of Judd’s shirts. But you kept that to yourself.

He blinked, you watched him reach a conclusion. “That sucks, sweetheart.” He measly answered— your eyebrows drew together and you clenched your teeth. You did love your dad, but he was distinctly awful at saying the right thing.

‘That sucks? THAT SUCKS? Damn right, it sucks, Greg! It sucks worse than your fucking job at Whole Foods,’ Connie’s hair puffed up angrily, she held both your shoulders in her hand and glared at your dad from behind you. ‘Give him hell, honey-bun,’ She urged you.

You opened your mouth to retort, a snappy comment ready on your tongue when Kaitlyn beat you to it. “What Greg meant to say—” She started, fixing your dad a pointed look. “—Is that’s awful, it sucks that you have to deal with that,”

She sent you a small smile, and you knew that was definitely not what your dad meant to say, but you appreciated the sentiment. You smiled back stiffly, leaning on the counter where she was cutting vegetables.

“Thanks, Kaitlyn.” You muttered. Connie bristled. ‘Who the hell do you think you are, cheesegirl? We didn’t ask you,’ She scoffed, hissing at Kaitlyn— again, you shared her attitude. You were annoyed yourself, quite on edge after the long walk home with an angry Jessi and now dealing with your dad and Kaitlyn.

She stopped cutting vegetables. “Hey,” she said, gaining your attention again. You stared at her, apathetically. “I used to have a crush on my older sister's boyfriend. She’ll get over it, and if you feel like it you could talk to her about it— 12-year-old girls can be crazy, it’s pretty cool you’re still so nice to her,”

Connie blew her nose in her hair. ‘Cheesgirl is actually right? Oh god, we should have listened to her more, she knows just what to say,’ The monster sniffled, dramatically clasping a hand over her heart.

You smiled, genuinely this time. “Wait, Jessi has a crush on Judd?” Your dad looked at you, bewildered. The soft expression fell from your face and became tired as you looked at him.

“Obviously.” To your surprise, both you and Kaitlyn echoed each other.

“Huh. I thought she was scared of him,” Your dad’s eyes narrowed and a thoughtful expression crossed his face— he forgot to turn the pot he had on the stove as he recalled the only interaction he had witnessed between Jessi and Judd. The one and only time you had brought him over for dinner.

Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and sent you a look that clearly showed her overbearing of your father, you couldn’t help but softly laugh in return.

“Okay. I’ll go talk to her,” you stated, determined.

Kaitlyn cheered you on as you walked down the hall to Jessi’s room, and for the first time you truly appreciated your dads new girlfriend.

Chewing on the inside of your cheek, you delivered three sharp knocks to Jessi’s door. She didn’t answer.

“Hey, Jessi, can I come in?” You got your answer in the form of a muffled sound from the other side.

You opened the door slowly, peaking inside to see Jessi curled up on her bed— on her stomach with her face pressed into the pillows.

Her back was shaking lightly, and that’s when you realised the muffled sound was her crying. “Aw, Jessi-bear,” you cooed, stepping fully into the room and closing the door.

Sitting down on the bed, you gently reached out and touched your sisters back— she stiffened, clearly trying to hold back her sniffles.

“Go away.” She mumbled, barely audible as the pillows swallowed most of her sounds.

You sighed deeply, exhaling through your nose. Ideally, you didn’t want to deal with Jessi and her outbreak of jealousy— but, unfortunately, you cared enough about your sister to push your own annoyance aside.

“Jessi, you can’t be mad at me. That’s not fair,” you tried, removing your hand from her.

She suddenly sat up, whipping around to scowl at you. “Are you trying to act like the victim? You embarrassed the shit out of me, in front of Judd!”

You bristled, mouth turning downwards in a frown— it took your utmost patience to not counter Jessi with an insult. Connie shifted her weight nervously from foot to foot, cowering behind Jessi’s bedpost to hide from the incoming argument.

“Listen, I have to be real with you— and it’s gonna sound harsh as shit, but Judd is not going to date you. Ever. He’s 18 and you’re literally 12, even if we break up, it’s not gonna happen.” You deadpanned.

You watched Jessi’s eyes refill with tears, she quickly, angrily dried them off with her sleeve. “I don’t care! I don’t even wanna date your boyfriend, oh my god,” She screeched.

You fixed her a look. “If you didn’t wanna date him, why are you mad at me?” It was a statement more than a question.

Jessi looked away from you. “Because you don’t even care about anything other than Judd, you’re so selfish,” she scoffed.

“Ouch.” You muttered. “I’m so selfish I took the time to walk you home and talk to you because I thought you were upset,”

Your sister seethed. “You are! You’re such a slut too—“

“— Okay, Jessi, don’t fucking slut-shame me. I get that you’re jealous, or whatever but you’re acting like a little prick. I’m trying so hard to be patient with you. What more do you want?” You were a bit desperate now— and exceedingly pissed off.

“I want you to stop embarrassing me! And I want— I want you to actually act like my sister!” She cried, fists angrily colliding with the mattress. You stood up, sneering at your sister.

“This is me acting like your sister! I’m gonna sister the fuck out of you until you die, and it will get so much worse!” You ran a hand through your hair, viciously tugging at the strands. “You think I don’t care about you? I’m talking to you because I care, I’m trying to help you, Jessi,”

Pacing back and forth across Jessi’s bedroom floor, her eyes followed you, vexed. “If you want to help, leave me alone! All you do is humiliate me.” She had seemed to calm down a little— voice lower but way more resentful.

You clicked your tongue, stopping your pacing to glare down at her. “You’re doing a great job of that yourself, idiot.”

“If—if you hadn’t been there—“

“— what? If I hadn’t been there you’d have talked to my boyfriend and shown him the shirt— which is fucking creepy for you to have, by the way— and he’d automatically fall in love with you?”

Jessi looked away, an angry flush woven into her skin. “No. I don’t know.” She muttered.

“Yeah, no.” You hissed. “I love you and all, but you’re a fucking pain. I guess I can’t help you, unless you actually want my help— so I’ll leave you be, but it’s seriously a bummer that you have to act like this.”

You turned to the door, shoulders tense and body rigid with anger, but to your disbelief Jessi called out to you; “Y/n, wait— don’t leave,”

Your brows rose. “What. Change your mind now?” You snapped.

“Yeah, I guess. Don’t leave.” She repeated, and you turned back to her with a defeated look.

Sighing, you replied; “Alright, Jessi. If that’s what you want,”

She scooted away a little, making more space for you on the bed— you picked up on the indication and sat down. She tucked her legs to her chest, resting her head on her knees and looking at you a bit abashed.

“I’m sorry I called you a slut— you aren’t. And it wasn’t very feminist of me,” Jessi muttered.

An airy chuckle escaped you. “Right. I’m sorry too. If you feel like I’ve been spending too much time with Judd, I probably have. I didn’t mean to neglect you, Jessi-bear.”

She wrinkled her nose. “Don’t call me that in front of Judd, ever again. Please.” She grumbled.

“Alright.” You chuckled, eyes caught on a particular spot on the wall— making it appear as if you were staring off into space. “I won’t if you stop stealing his shirts, klepto.” You teased, good naturedly.

Suddenly she untangled herself from her position and sat up on her knees to face you directly. “Oh my god. Please, please, don’t tell anyone about that! Y/n, please!”

You turned to watch her beg. “Wash my dishes for a month and we have a deal.”

She frowned. “Okay. But you really can’t tell anyone, okay? And tell Judd not to tell anyone either,”

“You think Judd would listen to me?” You asked, shrugging.

Jessi’s body sacked slightly. “Just try, pleaseeee, Y/n.”

You reached out an arm, caging her in and pulling her into you. She fell from her position on her knees, tumbling into your side where you squeezed her slightly.

“Only because I love you so much, you little shit.” You grumbled, landing a hand on her head and purposefully rubbing it in to mess up her hair.

She protested, pushing you away and complaining loudly as she fixed her hair. Connie came out from her hiding spot, engulfing the two of you in her hair and hugging you close. Jessi leaned her head on your shoulder.

“I’m actually kinda glad you’re my sister, Y/n,” she answered quietly.

You rolled your eyes at her inability to be sincere. “I know, Jessi-bear.”

2) What is your favorite fic of yours? i hope this isn't too much of a cop-out answer but my favorite fic is always the one i'm working on. a lot of love goes into each one and if i'm not fully enthralled in a story i'm writing i might as well not write it at all, imo. i'm particularly proud of atrad right now, because it took a long time, as well as lots of research and i really wanted it to be well-written. but rn, even though i'm on pause for a bit, subjectives is my fav bc it's the one i'm working on now.

3) What fic of yours do you think is underrated? it's hard to say when it comes to the ga fandom bc there's usually not as many readers at all, but i must say lack of interaction is what caused me to put not what we should be on the backburner for a few years. i fully intend to write all of it some day, but it is hard to get motivated when it's also a fic i've received negative comments on ;-;

(w the fandom that won't be named, i really liked writing trust, but it was seemingly less interesting to others so i abandoned it. rest in peace...)

4) What fic of yours were you surprised by how popular it was? i am always shocked when any of my fics get attention! my first ga fics in the internship universe on ffn got a lil bit of attention and i was genuinely surprised! but my g*th*am fic play dead getting as much attention as it did really shocked me, especially bc i was on twitter back then and i had plenty of mutuals who would "live tweet" reading whenever a new chapter came out, and it honestly felt so touching... the higher u fly, the more u have to fall and all that.

when it comes to ga, i had surrendered to having no attention especially more recently, but i think atrad got a decent amount of attention for how small the fandom is! and lots of ppl would comment and give me their thoughts which meant a lot too, and which i wasn't fully expecting!

17) Do you have any wips that you can tell us about? What are you most excited for in you wip?

obviously, i still have nwwsb, which someone asked abt recently! i'm very happy there's ppl out there who are interested in seeing it continue bc i am too <3 i'm thinking after subjectives, i'll probably continue nwwsb for a while (tho i had planned on it being rly long so i might get distracted by another project eventually before finishing it lmao)

i also wrote ~7 chapters of a zombie au a few years ago that i enjoyed but never posted bc pretty much all i saw on tumblr back then were ppl hating on zombie aus. i think i'd have to rewrite what i have though if i were to post it, which is why i'm not as excited about that project. i don't like restarting lol

and i also have a restaurant au i like, but it would likely not be quite as long as my other fics <3

and what i'm most excited abt is just sharing more fics for people to enjoy! i love writing natsumikan fanfic and giving as much as i can to this fandom and tho it seems to be in a constant state of shrinking, i won't let myself get too discouraged! thank u to all who read and enjoy my fics <3 i very much appreciate it!

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT SNBSKENDBDKDK

It's been a while since I came here and then I realize there is chapter 5 and 6. You couldn't imagine just how happy I got 😭😭😭

It was so amazing, it's morning here already and I can barely put my thoughts together so I will have to come back here another time to talk about it better.

But OMG I love it so much, I kinda forgot how genius you are at this, at conveying all these emotions. I missed it so much. I should binge read Swipe Right from the beginning again.

Your writing is mind-blowing, seriously!!! The Tension!!! No one is doing it like you 🥺 I am the biggest fan of slow burn, of that anticipation, the teasing, the conflicting thoughts of "I shouldn't do it, but why does it feel so right" and at the same time them realizing it's actually wrong and dangerous. You do it perfectly. I love that Jungkook is holding himself back tho, not only because of the apprehension but also because it shows how considerate he is now, even though it's tempting af to just give in. I loved their moments together so fucking much in chapter 5 and 6. I was hot and bothered but at the same time my heart was so warm because of their interactions. Seriously, Jungkook helping her during an anxiety crisis was so ❤️ and they chemistry is amazing, I feel like screaming everytime lol.

OC is so relatable to me, her anxiety, insecurities, everything going on in her head during the class, the way she is so self-conscious and overthinks people looking at her and judging her. That's me every time I leave my bedroom, can never relax. And I just want to protect OC, she's so endearing in every way 🥺

I feel like she's so realistic, you know. The way she acts when she's nervous and insecure. The way she is trying to protect herself, but at the same time falls for the temptation and becomes kinda shameless because it makes sense to be like that when your mind gets hazy with that complex need and Jungkook is right there. And he is hot af 😫 you can't resist that no matter how shy you are! I know I wouldn't lol.

I love these two so much, I love everyone in the friend group, actually. They are so nice and caring and genuine. And I appreciate Joon so much for always being there and for giving that push to make things better between OC and JK.

I feel like some angst is coming because of the way chapter 6 ended. He is scared of the feelings that are starting to blossom there it seems. They both have to sort some things out, but I am cheering them on. I know that if they can get past certain insecurities they will be so amazing together! 😭❤️

Either way, I am anticipating whatever route you take with the story, all the angst, all the tension, the slow burn. I know everything you write will be amazing as it has always been. I really loved these chapters, your writing is the best and I love you for sharing it with us so generously. Thank you so much!!!! I’m glad that you decided to inbox, even if it hit me a bit odd, I’ve been on tumblr off and on since 2012, but never got really into it until I started doing Virtual photography in cyberpunk and wanting to share my campaign. So for me, the only asks I’ve ever gotten were for prompts or questions about OC’s or sometimes the story.

I thought I had said something wrong at first, and just scrolled thru my blog to see what I could have said? I wasn’t sure how to respond, so I just did my best. More often than not, I find that starting off on the wrong foot, sometimes leads to the most genuine interactions.

It makes me happy that you found ME of all people who are a huge fan of Cyberpunk TTRPG & 2077 (tho.. let’s be real. I’m more of the TTRPG fan). Means I did something right because this is what I wanted! I wanted fans of the game to reach out to me, talk about their campaigns, stories, and theories.

that's not weird at all!!! actually the day u sent this question in i had finalized the thumbnails (and started on the pencils!) for a comic wherein Yamato comments on how Sai is handling his transition out of ROOT differently than Yamato himself did! I don't want to lay all my thoughts on that out here, because I think i'm much more clumsy with textposts than with comics, but I appreciate the question and I will share some thoughts!

here's something I've been thinking abt! I think they had fundamentally different experiences in ROOT, and this is reflected in their attitudes towards Danzō, as well as the way they interact with the people outside of ROOT.

Sai seems to have no real loyalty to Danzō. He does what Danzō says because Danzō gives him his orders, when he practices his fake smile in front of Danzō, Danzō immediately tells him to cut that shit out. I don't think there's a lot of love lost there—when team Kakashi catches up to him in orochimaru's hideout, and they kind of confront him, and. also kind of. "give him the option" of abandoning his mission (and ROOT along with it) or. you know. facing shinobi consequences. he doesn't really seem to think much of it? honestly. i imagine he was probably a little more relieved than anything else. Add to that him remembering how he wanted to finish the drawing of his brother—

actually wait hang on thats another point I want to talk about. Sai was pitted against the person he was closest to in order to traumatize him into numbness! wack! I think that's kind of at the root (help.) of why I see him as a fundamentally angrier character than I see Yamato—and why I interpret some of his behavior not just as Not Knowing How People Work (although he does have trouble with this! it's a very different vibe. like. him trying to comfort Naruto and Naruto thinking Sai was coming onto him was an entirely different kind of situation) but as like. intentionally inflammatory sometimes...like. he's insulted the bodies of most of the people around him in one way or another, he knows it pisses them off, he does keep doing it. I think him Causing Problems On Purpose is sometimes just a way for him to try and experience catharsis for a fury he doesn't really know he's repressing. Like. idk. it's one thing to be forced to hurt yourself, that's deeply upsetting, disembodying, traumatizing, but it's another to be forced into a situation where you're to hurt somebody you love (regardless of the outcome) like. idk. its a kind of powerlessness that hits different at least ime, and frustration and resentment are extremely normal reactions to a situation like that. i think. a number of things could be appealing to him abt trying to get others to get angry at him—whether it's Him being the one to Cause another persons anger (which could confer a kind of. feeling of control) or him seeing himself reflected in their anger (like a "boy howdy i recognize this emotion. it's very clear. very understandable") or even seeing how they handle the anger. kishimoto definitely doesn't care nearly as much about Sai's anger. but i found the implication of it compelling as a kid, and I find it more compelling as an adult! anger can be an incredibly healing and protective force sometimes when dealing w/ trauma...and I wish kishimoto knew what he was writing about or that we got to see it explored more!!! ack!

yamato (as kinoe) had a wildly different experience when he was in ROOT.

we know he knew how to fight against sharingan, which. I think implies he was training in combat with Danzō, or that he worked closely with Danzō, or at the very least that Danzō used his sharingan on him. We also saw that (unlike Sai, who was rebuked for even fake-smiling) that Kinoe (at first) was not told to feel nothing, but instead instructed on how to feel by Danzō specifically. Like, mostly telling him to Feel Grateful etc, but I think him being told to experience specific feelings according to what Danzō thought was appropriate would lead to a different relationship with his emotions than Sai, who was told explicitly to repress them all at all times, and to not even attempt to preform them.

He also like. Thought. Highly. of Danzō, not just as a leader but as a person...it's kind of undeniable that Kinoe saw him as right, was willing to brand his own feelings and intuition wrong if it crossed Danzō's, openly sought Danzō's approval, when he fails his mission to secure Kakashi's eye, his reaction is. essentially immediately to return himself to Danzō to face whatever new dehumanization Danzō's got for him— even when Kakashi and Hiruzen drag him out of there he thanks Danzō for everything, and he seems genuine about it, despite. everything. He's more expressive than Sai for sure, He had like. a moment of anger, when he said that he wanted to be Tenzō, and Danzō denied him that basic self identification...but it's quickly squashed. Messy. Messy. I think. I think he has a little more trouble getting in touch w/ his anger than Sai bc of his emotional closeness to Danzō.

i think. because yamato knows that he was something more like Danzō's favorite, and that conveyed a vastly different experience than Sai's, he might feel a little complicated about being like "So...ROOT trauma, huh? Hell of a thing!" but. i also like to think that he's very quietly kind of trying to observe and support in a way which mostly allows Sai to figure himself out—I think when they are older they would probably talk about it more (also because then their tongue-seals will have finally disappeared. Thanks sasuke!), once Sai has close friends in the village and everything

Masumi Usui: Does this boy even need an explanation. Infatuated with the director; probably sees something in Izumi that draws him to her, might have something to do with his family issues. Still an immature bb tho and probably doesn’t have a good grip on how romantic relationships are supposed to work. Nonetheless, the attraction is real. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tsuzuru Minagi: More or less same as Sakuya. Although there have been some instances where Tsuzuru has made some comments about Izumi, they can be interpreted loosely - I personally view it as friendly flirting. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Itaru Chigasaki: I’m kinda iffy on this one. I think that the potential is there, but I don’t think that Itaru is ready to fully commit to a serious relationship. He’s appreciative of how Izumi understands the real him, and since their ages aren’t that far apart, he's comfortable around her. As such, he teasingly flirts with her because it’s in his personality. I realllyyyy want to say he views her romantically, but ultimately, I think a serious romance is far off from Itaru’s thoughts. Tenma Sumeragi: Yep, I agree! It’s strongly hinted that he has a crush on Izumi. This probably stems from the fact that she was the one who supported him when he was vulnerable, and helped him overcome his weaknesses. I don’t approve though bc age disparity. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Yuki Rurikawa: I can’t recall any shippy moments between them? I view their relationship as a platonic, sibling-like one. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Muku Sakisaka: He’s admitted that he thinks that Izumi is attractive but I think it’s more of a fact to him than an opinion, if you get what I mean? He like acknowledges that she is an attractive woman, but he himself is not romantically attracted to her. Heck, he ships her with other members. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Misumi Ikaruga: Also iffy for me. In general, Misumi is a very affectionate person. He definitely likes Izumi, so she is also subject to his affections. Are they romantic affections, though? I’m not so sure. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Kazunari Miyoshi: I definitely think he’s attracted to her. Not sure how deep it goes, but there have been multiple instances that hint that he likes Izumi. Izumi often shoots him down, but I do believe that his intentions are genuine - it’s just that his personality makes it seem like he isn’t, and he isn’t the type to let it affect him too much. Autumn Troupe:

Banri Settsu: Yep! It’s also been strongly hinted that Banri is attracted to Izumi. In various backstage stories he’s been shown to be jealous of other members when they interact with Izumi, and he tries to show off in front of her. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Juza Hyodo: Mmmmm kinda iffy? Like some other members, he definitely holds a deep admiration and appreciation for Izumi due to the opportunity she gave them. But there are also some moments that make me think that he could possibly have a crush on her, but he hasn’t realized it yet. But ultimately, I don’t think so. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Taichi Nanao: More or less same as Tenma. Is more upfront about it though, similar to Kazunari. The age disparity, though, hmmmmm. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Omi Fushimi: Whether he realizes it or not, I think he is attracted to Izumi. Many of his backstories show him opening up to Izumi, being protective of her, complimenting her, etc. He’s also quite flirty with her, too. Sakyo Furuichi: The biggest simp of them all. ngl kinda hard to elaborate on this bc it’s so painfully obvious and it just makes sense. Definitely. Yes. Their history? Their interactions? *chef’s kiss* Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Winter Troupe:

Tsumugi Tsukioka: My gut tells me yes! There are some backstories that hint at it - he becomes quite bashful and blushy around the director. There’s this one that I can’t quite remember clearly, but it had something to do with flower language and my heart was just - uwu. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tasuku Takato: Too much of a theater junkie to focus on romantic relationships. I don’t even mean this in a joking manner - I vaguely remember Tasuku saying something about him being completely focused on his acting. That being said, he does like to playfully tease Izumi - it probably comes with being around the same age and living in close quarters - but yeah, nothing serious. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Hisoka Mikage: More or less like Citron, I think. The potential is there, but Hisoka has more pressing matters to focus on besides romance. He’s too deep in his own issues to actively pursue a romantic relationship. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Homare Arisugawa: Now, this may seem a bit controversial, but I personally believe that Homare is one of the least invested members in the company. For him, it’s another way to express his artistry. Yes, he does have meaningful relationships with the members of the company, but I feel like he’s one of the members that is least in it for the sake of passion for theater. Their relationship is more of a working/colleagues/friends one - I really don’t see the two in a romantic light. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Azuma Yukishiro: More or less same as Itaru, but with more angst. I think he’s attracted to Izumi. There is potential. But I feel like Azuma tends to distance himself from more serious relationships? He has personal issues that he needs to overcome first. But he does enjoy playfully teasing Izumi - the whole company, really - he just has a flirtatious nature in general. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically.

I try to be nice when I answer asks and just generally be encouraging of other people's ideas!! and I try to reciprocate and give everyone the time they deserve, because I want to explore all the avenues of their idea! I probably average between 15-30 minutes on each ask, but it really just depends on how distracted I get in the process and whether or not I need to reference a book or anything (fun fact! there are currently three keeper books just laying in my bed). and people sending literal essays just means there's more to talk about! and they've given me a lot of different perspectives to approach their thoughts from! I can't help but laugh a little about your comment on my paragraphs of art comments when i literally just did that before answering this one. but yes!! I know just how much long, in depth comments on art (including writing/edits/gifs/other medias) can mean to an artist, so i try to spread that and make sure when I'm complimenting someone, I'm genuinely complimenting the specifics of what they've done. i can be general and just say it looks cool or I like it (which is also fine! there's not one right way to comment and all comments are appreciated!), but I just prefer to let them know that I noticed some of the details and I understand the time that was put into their work. people's creations are so cool and I want to encourage them to keep creating as long as it makes them happy <33

I honestly don't remember my new tumblr days, but I do know that in the kotlc fandom it can feel like there are these big, established blogs and everyone just flocks to them and there's all these relations and connections going on that you just feel like you're missing out on. things like casually using other's names and referencing other things can make you feel really out of the loop--I've been here for years and it still happens to me! so I love that my blog feels welcoming. I try to be! don't fully know what I'm doing but i'm trying! it often involves a lot of exclamation marks. i should probably tone it back on those, it's getting excessive

oof you've just reminded me that I need to update my masterpost on character analyses--but thank you! I have a lot of fun writing them and just thinking them all through and they're one of the first things that really stood out as a specifically me thing in the fandom, so it's always exciting to hear people enjoy them as much as I do. (this isn't to say I invented character analysis or that I'm the only one whose ever done them, I just have no memory of anyone else really focusing in on that aspect within the fandom until I did it, but I could be wrong about that!) all the random headcanons i get give me the opportunity to apply a lot of what i've analyzed in these characters already, taking it from pulling them apart to trying to put together the pieces in a way that's consistent with how I understand them, so i love to go more in-depth on those. and they give me more of a chance to ask questions back to you all!!

and then the wings au! I say it all the time but I genuinely surprises me a lot when people just mention they've read it and i just go :0! my wings au?! my writing? that's the one you like?? and you're right! it does actually qualify as novel length, so it could be another book! except I just wanted to add wings and more drama and monsters, and I wanted to ignore the romantic drama for a while. there's so many elements of the characters that I feel get pushed to the side in favor of exploring the romance in canon, which just isn't personally for me. i really just went "i can fix them" and rewrote them just slightly to the left. but I think it's a lot of fun! and i'm very glad you're enjoying it, because there's still a lot to get through! it's not ending anytime soon! luckily for me tho, we've still got another year before the next book is released and completely changes how I could need to structure my worldbuilding. i'll probably finish it before then...no promises tho!

1. Shika was practically horny in denial the whole time 😂😂😂 i wonder how much longer he can keep lying to himself, especially after Shisui called him out on his attraction 🤣

2. The A C T I O N was so awesome!!! I don’t remember if i’ve mentioned this before but I really love action-packed chapters - they’re usually my favorite ones. You wrote the fight scene so well! I also kinda sensed that maybe Shika was feeling a bit guilty for not listening to Sakura’s advice to stay together. Now she’s one arm less because of his /very rare/ lapse in judgment. Will we know more of Shika’s thoughts on this? He’s so very full of angst and distrust, I quite enjoy him twiddling his thumbs for being wrong this time.

3. Baby Kakashi and Sakura - this was a very cute image in my head. Thank you for painting such a lovely picture ❤️ I imagine toddler Kakashi imprinting on Sakura and following her around whenever she’s in their lands. But I’m also curious, what made you decide to swap their ages for this fic? I was actually waiting for Kakashi’s role here and was surprised to find him as a baby! Cue *canon-kakashi habits* but this time learned from/influenced by Sakura 😂

4. Saku x Boys and the inevitable jealousy that Shika feels from her interactions — MAAM I SO LOVE THIS DYNAMIC. It’s really great to see the other facets of Sakura that boggle Shika’s mind. I think it’s quite difficult for him to come to terms with the other sides of Sakura that’s friendly, loving, touchy, etc. that he’s recently seen, because he really really wants to hate her but he’s horny af so he’s basically dissociating (it’s real entertainment to us tho)

5. And last but not the least, W O W. How are u able to maintain the mystery of whatever it is you’re still hiding from us but give us golden bread crumb clues THAT KEEP US HUNGRY???? Hmmm??? So yeah my point #5 is basically my genuine appreciation for how you write the mystery and reveal bits of truth slowly without being messy? My first read was like “omg orochimaru” and my second read was like “wtf is he doing here?” And then Mito was also introduced and the Shadows mentioned King, Queen, Princess, Prince, etc. SO NOW I HAVE THESE BLIND ITEMS I NEED TO FIGURE OUT and we’re not even halfway thru the fic!!! OKAY YES! BABY KAKASHI!!! Sakura has 100% attached herself to baby Kakashi for more than one reason (...that i will address later in the fic) and he will definitely pick up on her terrible habits (aka: “mah” and being late bc i think that will be so fucking funny)

As for the ages! This fic went through so many different drafts before i settled on what i wanted to do. And actually this wasn’t even the first idea for the series. The goal for this entire world is three fics (Of Love And War, Of Gore And Magic, & Of Curses And Bones). The first idea sprouted from OG&M where its Team 7 going on a quest and a war looming overhead. And then I was like “but… shikasaku…” so here we are.

Originally this fic was going to be entirely about Sakura taking out the internal chaos within the Fae guild…. But i also wanted to exercise my angst and corruption arc skills so,,, hate to love! HAHAHA

So, to answer your question: i just wanted Sakura to be the eldest and badass bitch of the group. Plus, i just really love the idea of Sakura being friends with Sakumo, Shikaku, Yoshino, and all of the older generation. I can’t really tell you why besides “fuck canon lets do it” HAHAHA! Plus, its like a different dynamic having the woman be the oldest of the group and most combative, so i like to play with those roles and utterly wreck em

We’ll definitely be seeing more Kakashi in the next chapter because i love him and he’s such a cute baby :))))))

I think that’s a big part of the last chapter is Shikamaru opening his eyes a little more to Sakura as a whole, and that completely fucking wrecks him internally.

He’s a genius, very book smart, and battle prowess enough to take down Orochimaru, but emotionally, the PTSD and trauma (along with his own bullheadedness) has really stunted him LMAO

As for a prequel with sakura and then all her friendships…. I would honestly love to write that. Like that would be so interesting?? Being able to go back into even more lore and the development of the Guilds and shit… i might actually have to plan something for that,, even if its a short thing tbh. YOUR MIND>>>>>>>>>>>

hello everyone! well i dont know who i mean by “everyone” considering my blog is basically an echo chamber for my own thoughts and feelings but nevertheless hello! as you may have seen already loads on your dash, everyone’s whipping out the end of year shoutout posts thanking the people who have made this dark hellhole seem a bit brighter. im going to do the same - so to all the people tagged below thank you very much for your services to my mental wellbeing!! as an avid fanfic consumer i will say the amount i interact with said fanfic writers is quite atrocious - something I hope to improve in the new year. so without further ado, here are some people id like to say thanks and well done to!

🌟 @starrychannies - thank you for being the first skz blog i decided to follow since stanning!! your fics are so beautifully written and you just have this way of writing that fills me with what i can only describe as warmth and love. the little details you put in and how you write the characters (both skz and the reader) is what keeps me coming for more. its like i feel a genuine connection with the characters that rarely occurs in fics it seems and im very grateful for your talent - along with the memey gifsets and picures of course! i genuinely hope 2021 is a gorgeous year for you!

🌷 @akinnie75 - where on earth do i even begin!!! i remember stumbling across your blog on a sunny june afternoon and suddenly it was time for dinner, id read all of your fics multiple times and i could barely remember that the BTS members werent really princes or ghosts or even sociology majors! the way your stories cascade across the page like a giant waterfall is something i havent seen in literature for a really long time. again, im a sucker for characterisation and you absolutely nail it every single time. thank you so much for the work you produce and once again i hope 2021 brings you joy and happiness.

⛩ @chenle - if we’re talking about blogs that fed my skz addiction, it would be a crime not to mention you. i literally vivdly remember sending you an ask saying I dOn’T eVeN kNoW wHo StRaY kIdS aRe YoUr FiCs ArE nIcE tHo and look where we are now. i can sense 2020 was a tough one, as was the case with so many people and whilst a part of me is sad you are no longer writing, i am mostly very grateful for the vast expanse of fics and ideas and stories and headcanons and everything else you blessed your cult with. i sincerely hope you can take this opportunity to rest and rejuvenate and whatever path you choose to take i will support you all the way.

🎨 @ofkimtaehyung - although i mentioned my avid consumption of fanfics, i do enjoy the occasional gifset and fanart too. whilst im past my brief tryst with BTS (she says 👀👀) one would have to be blind to ignore the immeasurable talent you hold. how you manage to manipulate music videos and photoshoots into concert ticket stubs, movie posters and broadway leaflets is honestly beyond me. BTS are already 7 of the most handsome ethereal men to exist and your sublime editing means they end up looking even more heavenly. i hope 2021 brings rewards for your work because it is seriously amazing!

⛓ @anqeluv - your changing aesthetics as well as the 2020 kinktober masterlist were all that i needed to be drawn in. the way you write the filthiest things in the most simple and eloquent manner is severely understated. lots of people tend to go overboard with the ~naughty~ scenes but you keep it the perfect balance of classy and downright filthy which is much appreciated. im very excited to see that you are possibly considering writing for ateez as well - who are one of my newer fav groups! i very much look forward to all that you will bring in 2021 and hope you are safe and well.

🐈 @chaoticminhos - it was priceless that pulled me in and all the rest of your gorgeous fics that have kept me here! and boy am i not complaining. you have such a gentle (ironic for someone called chaos i suppose) way of writing in my opinion, that keeps things flowing and simple without unnecessary embellishments and i just adore it. priceless, in my humble opinion, is such a classic that i keep coming back to. i sit back in awe at the quiet progress of their relationship every goddamn time (as though im reading it for the first time) and im very grateful for the experience. i hope 2021 brings you lots of light and positivity.

I just finished all my finals and I haven’t been on this blog in a while, so I’m planning on catching up on ur recent writings but I had to come in here and talk about the anon u just answered about the movies that inspired your works!! 2. Not a request, just wanted your thoughts. Ok, imagine a soulmate au where when the SoSu finds Kellogg and they find out they’re soulmates at fort hagen. My friends say I’m fucked up for playing around with the idea but I think with a certain backstory it could work. Maybe if SoSu’s spouse was abusive it wouldn’t be bad. But also Kellogg was just doing a job and he’s not actually that bad of a person given his story. I just think it could be an interesting idea. What do you think?

- i think its a really good and interesting idea, as much as i dislike kellogg on my end! i dont find a lot of sosu/kellogg fics so i think its pretty amazing you want to write a story based on an soulmate au trope and if you do end up posting it, link it to me! i will be more than glad to read it. personally, i believe kellogg is really traumatized and broken from his past and doesnt know how to express nor heal from it. instead he allows his bitterness to seep through his actions which is probably why he does it with no care and little to no signs of sympathy. so, i dont personally believe he was always an asshole and does have a soft side to him like everyone else. of course, this does not excuse his actions but it does create character in some way shape or form and i think its great to work around and has the potential to form a really detailed and well thought plot. i think soles spouse also being abusive can also aid in the progression of the story. good luck with it and please do share it with us when you decide to do it! im very excited to see you work with this.

2. do you write for longfellow?

- sadly, not at the moment. i haven't been able to play the far harbor dlc to its full potential and i haven't recruited old longfellow as much as i should have. maybe when i do come around to finishing it, i will add old longfellow to the list!

3. Nuooo! No more sad man Danse!  He needs some happiness too! Maybe after BB he developed some comradeship with a platoon of minutemen he could actually laugh and have a drink with. Find a new purpose in aiding and protecting fellow minutemen and their communities and families. Only people I can realistically see him being buddy-buddy with is either Struges, Preston or if you’re lucky the ex-BOS scribe that can be your armor merchant at your settlement. Dude NEEDS an emotional support system!

- UGH, you are so right! danse deserves nothing but happiness post blind betrayal!! i do strongly believe hes recruited into the minutemen a little later after the events and is immediately accepted into the faction as family, regardless of his past actions. i like to think that he gets along with almost everyone and humbles down as an individual, eventually letting go the ideals of the BoS. the minutemen is truly his first step into another chapter of his life.

4. I hate you😜nah I’m totally kidding😁 I gotta reeeeeally try to find anything subjectively bad to say to you honestly🤔. You’re friendliness comes off naturally like you’re not trying too hard to cater to anyone. You come off as genuine enough to just enjoy the fandom and the interactions you have with fans is very refreshing and inviting🥰. Hiiii! So this might be pretty weird to say BUT I kinda wanna share

I've been sort of in this fandom, but mostly only lurking. I follow people but don't necessarily interact with them. My main is mostly about fictional stuff, aes etc and I didnt want to admit that I'm a larrie on there because of the backlash this fandon gets and im in no mental state to let that happen. But it made me feel so goddamn guilty because it meant I never reblogged (or even liked since I didnt want to be one of those ppl) any of the art/gifs etc that you guys made.

SO today I finally caved and made a sideblog, so that I can support you lovely ppl and reblog your stuff! And your au will be the first one i reblog even tho I dont have any followers on there!

Hiii! Omg, don’t worry. That’s not weird to say at all! My journey in this fandom has been pretty similar actually. I also have another blog where I post aesthetic stuff and that’s where I started on tumblr. I lurked from there for about half a year while I did my research on Harry and Louis and pondered if it was worth creating another blog just for 1D. Bear in mind, this was 2011-2012, and I never actually blogged about them there because I didn’t want to mix 1D posts with the type of things I usually shared in that blog. So I totally get that you don’t want to blog about 1D on your main either, nor do I blame you for not wanting backlash from this fandom (that, unfortunately, seems to have become more and more ruthless over the years -- since you have already created a sideblog, my advice would be to curate your dash very carefully! We larries are a rowdy, messy bunch, but most people are pretty friendly 🥰). 

I did like a bunch of posts from that blog though (mostly masterposts, to be honest) and as you can imagine the like to reblog ratio wasn’t even a problem back then, so that obviously never even crossed my mind, nor did it play as a factor when I decided to create this account. Then I “lurked” in this blog until last year. I just liked and reblogged posts, never even wrote in the tags. And I don’t know exactly when this like-reblog difference started being an issue but I felt like maybe I should starting using my tags to at least give content creators a little feedback on their work. Sometimes just a little “omg this is so pretty!!” can make someone’s day. 

So when I feel frustrated when people don’t reblog something I’ve worked hard on it’s not about the numbers, you know? If it were about the amount of notes I would reblog my own posts a bunch of times to increase that number but I hate doing that. Which, by the way, this isn’t me pointing fingers at anyone! (I have to reblog my own things sometimes! Most content creators have to do that!) I just mean... I don’t care if one of my other edits, like my edit of Louis with snow or my Harry x Venus moodboard, don’t do that well, because that was a one-and-done kind of post and they don’t take that much time to make, you get what I mean? It’s nice if people like it and write nice things in the tags, but I’m not mad if it’s not reblogged as much. 

With my Reality Show AU it’s a whole other story, though. Again, it’s not about the numbers, but I need people’s feedback to keep going. I want to read what people thought of it, and that obviously won’t be possible if people only like it and not reblog it. Each part of this AU takes me days to make! And I know there are a bunch of other creators in this fandom who could do a much better and quicker job than what I’m doing but, unfortunately, this is what you get 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, this is not me fishing for compliments or whatever. I don’t want that, at all. I’d actually rather not have anyone say anything if it’s not genuine. But I would really appreciate it if people started showing their own appreciation for other people’s work through reblogs, so it can reach more people who might really like that kind of content.
