I am having a slow-ish start of the year (one of my resolution is to avoid Watcher Burnout) so ... I actively follow The Sign, Ossan's Love Returns, and Sukiyanen kedo do yaro ka.

I am also slowly working my way through Kamen Rider Revice, Koi desu!: Yankee kun to Hakujou Garu, and Pale Moon, as well as rewatching season 1 of Tsukuritai onna to tabetai onna. Makes for a very Japanese selection so far ^^

Last movie

I watched After Sundown yesterday, because horror and BL (which, mistake because that ghost was creepy af and I had to sleep after). It was not great, but it was filmed in the Khun Chai's mansion so that was nice.

Part of a little Kissing prompt I need to finish!

“You know, you’ll get square eyes if you keep playing on that thing all night, and with no lights on, Edmundo Diaz, for shame.” Buck tuts as he enters the dimness of the living room, only the occasional bright flashes from the fighting game on the TV illuminating Eddie’s profile, headset on, reclined back into the softness of the couch.

The older man huffs out a laugh as he pauses the game, swiping at the headphones to let them fall around his neck.

“Still trying to beat the knight?” Buck asks, shuffling closer to the couch.

“Chris always plays him, I need to get better and show my son who's boss.” There’s a hint of pride in his voice, Buck notes. That his son is able to beat him at video games, able to teach him - or at least, able to sit and nag his dad over his terrible memory of the characters' many, many button combinations.

WOOHOO TWO FOR TWO!!! hello seanagh and healy let me tell you about the street racing au!!!

there's a vidya here for a bit of a nice little imagined intro

BUT! the world is inspired by a lot of crime games i play like payday 2 and gtav as well as the first few fast and furious movies (incl. tokyo drift).

despite the title, it is not only about street racing. street racing is a major factor (afterall, the skills as f1 drivers kinda transfer over). there's a whole bunch of crime that the drivers partake in like drugs, blackmailing, weapons trafficking, and also some good old robbery! they're also in their own little crime orgs, with loyalties and backstabbing and more. big corruption and evil shit.

one crime org is losing money to their rival gang....and they have to find a way to make those profits back fast....little do they know there's a mastermind to this whole thing. ends in a massive heist.....oooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Very much so! Valskandyr is exceedingly self-sufficient and independent, which is great when he's operating on his own or in situations where factoring in others isn't a concern. Not so good when other people expect you to consult them before up and doing the thing, especially when letting them contribute might have been safer/quicker/better. Also he's hideously stubborn. A fine quality when in difficult situations, or when you need to grit your teeth and get by through sheer will and refusal to be deterred! Not a great one when people are trying to reason with you when your back is up and you're set on a particular course of action. @karakuuls since you asked this one too C:

Alrighty, so, just so you know, if I do ever get to actually writing this story, I plan on dialing the chaos of everyone way back and this includes Rachel. Even then, Rachel still has her crush on Finn, which goes on until his passing. She doesn't actually realize she has feelings for Celeste until the end of season 1 and after that, she decides to push those feelings down because she is unable to place them after their...frisky...night before Sophomore year of high school.

But, during s1s Regionals, after Celeste has been banned from performing with the New Directions for the rest of the season, Rachel sees Celeste sitting in the audience (under the pretense of watching Mike and Artie perform), marveling at her the entire time. Since in my iteration, Rachel still is very eager to be a performer, she looks for someone who can appreciate this. So when Celeste is just grinning ear-to-ear, watching Rachel perform, the other girl falls for her immediately.

Trying to put together something that's like, a half-folded printable page with an art piece / review of the match on one page and the match details for someone to find on the other. It's an ongoing project!

Breandan's met just one too many stuck up noble pricks in his life who considered themselves better than everyone around them because they were born in a big house.

He's been in too many situations where his birth status was used as a means to tell him he ought not dream of anything beyond what was given to him, and be grateful to have that much.

He's seen people with power and influence get away with horrible and cruel things just because they have the strings to pull to make consequences disappear.

One (several) times too many.

So: no, he's not particularly deferential to power just because it's powerful, preferring to let people's actions speak for them instead of their social status.

He used to consider himself adept at 'playing the game' once. Raised in a country lord's retinue in Coerthas, he thought he'd learned enough in his early training to keep up with the games of the city lords and ladies in the Holy See. He was mistaken, and once it nearly cost him his life. He learned better.

WIP Wednesday

Tagged by the lovely @spotsandsocks last week, and by the amazing @hippolotamus - thank you both! From my Buddie Halloween fic I’m working on - “Things that go hoot in the night”:

When Maddie had left, he’d been 14. He’d kept telling himself that he was too old for the holiday now, even as his heart ached for her by his side. From behind locked doors and the gap between drawn curtains he watched the younger kids avoid his parent’s house and it's very obvious lack of holiday-spirit, feeling like he was a ghost in his own four walls as his parents seemed to always look through him for some reason.

(Only learning years later that he was being haunted by another person's presence.)

But now.

Now he gets to carve pumpkins with silly faces, string up hand-made decorations with his Diaz boys in every nook-and-cranny of Eddie's home, and has the absolute joy and privilege of seeing Christopher’s face light up.

At the edge of the system, a Delphtean fiddles with cabling and the settings of an expensive camera set upon a tripod.  It is focused on a large bathtub with assorted large bottles of chemicals; at the edge of it is an oddly modified flight-suit painted black.

TZ flits from setting to cable to marking off things from his checklist.  A cursory glance to it would see it marked "Safety Checklist," but somehow you aren't sure if he's actually being safe.

You have to tap on his shoulder to catch his attention.  A grin spreads across his face once he sees you, each fang a bright, pearly white.  "Oh hi!  I didn't expect to meet a fan all the way out here," he said, his voice clear.  "But, you're welcome to watch anyways, it'll be cool!  We're doing the "Bathe in Ather Toothpaste Challenge and it'll be a hit!"

The chemicals seem a little...  high-grade for a school kid's science experiment. But, you have an interview to run!

As you point out the interview, his fins flex and you have his undivided attention.

"What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?"

He clicks his pen in thought.  "Probably... well... I don't have a lot of free time!"  Striking a pose as he shows off his set-up, he explains, "being Holotube's fastest rising star is a full-time job! Between stunts, streaming, and all sorts of other stuff, I don't usually sit still.  Other than mandatory-TZ-Day-Off-Day, but I usually spend those days with Foxy or checking in with bros."

"What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?"

Pen clicking again, a little faster this time. He tilts his head. "Definitely not the time I had to crawl out of Crown's Point Gorge with one arm because the bungee cord broke or figure out how to get out of the tub in the acid bath challenge."  He rests his chin against his knuckles, his thumb still clicking the pen.  From here, you notice his obnoxious-looking watch and the purple splotches across his blue-webbed fingers.  They match the splotches on his tail.  "It was probably the secret levels of Legend of Dig King.  That game is like... super hard."

"Who do you look up to?"

"Lots of people!"  He puts a hand over his head to show his height, this one is also scarred but its a combination of scratches and animal bites.  "Like there's this big horny bro that's like 'secret nice' that's twice my height.  I really can't look down at him.  That'd be weird."

"Have you ever had a crush on someone?  Do you have a crush now?"

His eyes narrow, crinkling the corners and the bridge of his nose. The clicking starts up again, slowly. "I... don't know?  It's a little much to think about."  The light blue of his face flushes a shade or two darker but his smile is giddily nervous.  "So, I don't.  Sometimes you solve problems head on, other times it's okay to take a little time to figure it out.  Right?"

To the anon looking for a certain fic, I believe it’s called mistress of the night court, I’m not quite sure who it’s by but if you find out or anyone knows please let us know!

It seems like this might be it, but I have some bad news...

@the-lonelybarricade also guessed The Mistress of the Night Court in the replies to the original ask and added that the author deleted the fics due to harassment. I did a little digging on the Wayback Machine and couldn't find anything either - but maybe you'll have better luck than me, anons!
