I noticed the ask you got about Jason, Dick, and the passing on of the Robin mantle, and how you said you imagine the nicer version is how things went down in your fics. That made me think about borderline and how close Dick and Jason end up in it, and THAT made me think about how to me Jason feels like the kind of person where if you have his love and loyalty and can keep it, you have it forever.

All this rambling is to say that I headcanon that Dick being kind to Jason back then is why Jason cares so much about Dick in borderline, besides all of the usual family and mind bond stuff. Dick is such a good big brother that all his little brothers are ride or die for him, haha

Yes!! Thank you so much for bringing this up! I get so many questions and comments about Dick and Jason’s relationship in borderline — and tbh it was one of my favorites to write.

So much of their initial instinct to band together and support Bruce and the bond is predicated upon them being good with each other deep down where it counts, you know?

They might bicker and there might be friction externally but the bond revealed all; they care about each other, and as the first two Robins who had to have the first exchange of that title, their relationship is markedly different than the ones they have with the others.

Dick and Jason were able to be in lockstep with each other nearly instantly while Bruce and the others were still reeling from the bond. Jason’s friction with the family as Red Hood fell away almost instantly, save for some minor conflicts with Tim later.

Dick’s need to be the protector and older sibling was still present, but with Jason there at his side he wasn’t alone any more. Together, they could support Bruce as the center and try and save the bond itself.

This closeness, in my opinion, will be Dick’s saving grace in his new condition. Jason will be his lifeline. And they wouldn’t have had that in a world where bitterness over the transfer of the Robin title still existed between them. Or it would, at the very least, be much harder to find that closeness without time and bond-related revelations.

Imagine if MC put a bright, cheery necklace/hat/scarf/accessory on the skeleton statue in Lucifer's room. He would protest but never take it down, and devils forbid if anyone tried to get rid of it or mocked it because it clashed with the scenery.

It looks ridiculous, and it catches everyone’s attention when they first walk in. Even in the middle of the conversation, he can see their eyes drift over to the statue. It’s a bit annoying, but a part of him understands why since it gets his attention even now.

The passing comments starts to grade on his nerve just a bit, and he’ll “politely” steer the conversation back on track. Hopefully no one would be bold (or stupid) enough to try and take it down themselves, unless they’re willing to lose a hand (and possibly more).

It looks silly and it is silly, he knows it. He’s told you that countless times, and always makes a comment on how absurd it looks whenever he finally has you in his arms alone in the room. But even as he rolls his eyes at his “festive” display every time, he never makes a move to take it down.

Despite how comical it looks, Lucifer acknowledges it as a piece of you with him. Whenever it’s late and he’s still up finishing work, he finds his own eyes drifting to it and he can’t help but crack a small smile.

How a mere human like yourself was able to get the Avatar of Pride to be so lenient, so soft, is amusing- and how you got him to fall so deeply for you is even more so.

But he doesn’t regret it at all.

Yes, they absolutely would! No one is more surprised by this fact than Felix “I need my personal space” Graham de Vanily, who did not realise how touch-starved he was until he met Kagami. Very much like that meme of the cheetah getting a chin rub.

The first few times she would burrow into his shirt and he would not dare to move or breathe too heavily. He’s used to destroying beautiful things, after all.

But eventually he would learn to let go and hold her tight and rest his chin on top of her head and kiss her forehead when she mumbles in a half-asleep state. Which would be so healing for her.

And of course, there’s the fact that they’ve both been terribly abused. Letting your guard down enough to fall asleep next to someone is the ultimate show of trust — especially for Felix, especially after the Nightormentor debacle. Give the boy insomnia and night terrors and let him be the one to be cared for and gently rocked back to sleep…

Also for everyone’s consideration: they’re both early risers, and I don’t think this habit would disappear completely, but they should get to discover the joys of laying in bed idly sometimes. Just. Let them be kids I beg of you

also im not the most knowledgeable person about d/s dynamics, but if i came out of this episode with one single certainty is that mork is a service top. i think in general it's pretty obvious that mork's love language is acts of service (and his attempt to fix phorjai's laptop when he was hitting on her is a pretty glaring example of this), but i love that this episode points out that there's a big difference between HAVING to service someone and WANTING to service them. it's one of the many reasons day calling himself mork's 'friend' and mork's reaction to it is so important: day is putting them on a more equal ground, which of course makes him more accessible (because boss and employee is very much not the kind of relationship they want to have with each other), but it also tells us that when mork says 'let me help' and 'you need anything else?' it's not out of obligation due to his job. he WANTS to do that, he WANTS to take care of day and do what pleases him, because that's his way of loving and flirting with someone (and on the other hand, day has never wanted to be taken care of because since the accident people believed him incapable of doing it himself, but when it comes to mork, day now welcomes and even desires his care in a very different way)

About writing a sequel for Sever the Blight (which was amazing to read btw) I feel like given proper warnings it should be fine?

Especially since the darker and/or uncomfortable themes are pretty common in Batman? Bruce has literally pushed his body to it‘s limits, dangerously so. He’s self-destructing. That‘s a big part of his character and background.

And in your story his decision to stop eating was very deliberate and pragmatic to him. (considering that he loves his sons, they were injured, still growing, etc., and they had no clue when/if help would arrive)

I would argue that most parents place their children‘s lives above their own.

You didn‘t give me the impression that you were promoting ED at all, especially since we had Clark‘s pov. We could clearly see how distressed he was at the situation and his own helplessness.

I could maybe see the issue if you had written it from Bruce‘s pov, downplaying and ignoring the effect starvation has on his body. Even listing all reasons why (to him) it‘s a reasonable/good/right thing to do while hiding it from his family.

But I feel you‘ve always handled the more difficult stories/plotlines really well? Especially when it comes to conflict in the Batfam, or within Bruce himself. Borderline being a wonderful example imo.

(You‘re actually my favorite Batman/Fam author because of how you write them all -I could honestly gush about it for hours- and their struggles without demonizing them)

Also, I would guess that a continuation would mostly deal with the aftermath? Specifically the road to recovery helped along by his family. Nothing that encourages ED.

Sorry if this is a rambly/annoying ask. just wanted to add my own opinion into the mix since I love your writing in general. To me, the characters make it clear when they make decisions due to an unhealthy mind-set.

I‘d be excited to see a (presumably) Batfam centric sequel of course! But no pressure :)

Thank you so much! I would love to write the sequel, absolutely. And I agree that the original fic didn’t promote ED tendencies, as much as is possible in a fic about starvation.

I think I just wasn’t prepared for the sudden flood of pro-ED comments and in my inbox and DMs. It was a lot to sift through mentally and it (briefly) turned me off the idea of writing more in this trope. I deleted some really concerning stuff.

I appreciate everyone’s support and confirmation that the tags and description weren’t harmful or triggering. I really do want to make sure readers have Bruce’s recovery — and the batkids’ reactions, which I think is the key/best part.

i saw someone suggest this, so i was wondering what you think...what if eddie does break up with marisol in this week's episode, but she makes a reappearance in 7x07, which is literally titled a ghost of a second chance and eddie has to reconsider whether he wants to get back with her or not? obviously he doesn't in the end, but it would force him to think about some things. i just don't think him doubling down with marisol makes sense, even if it's supposed to be a parallel with BT, because eddie is not actually buck. he doesn't double down out of panic or fear of being abandoned...he only doubles down out of a misplaced sense of duty or obligation. he let shannon back into their lives for chris' sake...he wanted to rekindle things after he found out she might be pregnant...he wanted to stick it out with ana because he thought it was what's best for chris. unless he's learnt absolutely nothing from dating ana (and chris is a teenager now anyway) i highly doubt he feels obligated to stay with marisol for chris' sake so...

Anon, baby, I need to tell you that this ask settled so much in my soul, I actually managed to calm down last night because of it, so I can't thank you enough. Okay, I did type out this before I saw this, about the patterns with their love lives and the way Eddie doesn't have a Taylor. I do agree that Eddie wouldn't double down on Marisol out of fear of being left, or for Chris, but Eddie did have that whole "we have time"/"we're all gonna die alone" arc last season that went nowhere, and I kinda do see Eddie doing the stupid thing from a place of hurt? Because for a really long time, Buck was his main support system, I don't wanna say asking her to move in is something that actually makes sense for Eddie to do, because in the end it doesn't, so far we only saw her as a babysitter, but Eddie tends to have extreme reactions, and this fits the category. That being said, the thought that they will break up now and have a chance to get back together that Eddie doesn't take can work really well. Because if you have Eddie "questioning his place in the world" to make the wedding episode something where Eddie lets loose while single, just to get a chance to get back to the "comfortable" relationship he had with Marisol is interesting. You can even add the "Taylor" aspect of it by having her break up with him and then come back. But since Eddie wouldn't go back to something he's not sure of it just to have someone. I mean, even proposing to Shannon again was more about Chris and theoretical child #2, not trying to hold on to her specifically, and like you said, he doesn't have to double down for Marisol. So to put him in a situation where he could reconsider getting back into that relationship, would be interesting. Even more, if you consider the way all his relationships involve someone coming back to his life in a sense. And if you put him in that situation and have him be like "no, this is not what I want" would be nice, even more so considering he literally asked out the first girl who gave him an opening after repeatedly saying he didn't wanna date, see him find that balance that he doesn't have to be in a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship is a nice thought.
