@thaliakwaxing
In the dense wood of the Black Shroud, a lone Miqo’te that clearly didn’t belong in the shade of the boughs struggled to wrestle her bag and skirt from a thick thorny brush. Cursing under her breath, she made a grand spectacle of herself for any wildlife that happened to see, and potentially any passerbys. After a great deal of struggling, she pulled a small dagger from her hip and began to hack at the clinging branches.
“Let! Me! Goooo!” Her voice reached a pitch as she snapped the last tendril. She stumbled back, landing hard on a tree stump, yipping and subsequently whimpering as she gathered her senses. Giving her scratched up palms a once over and rubbing her bruised backside, the cursing made a brief return before she managed an actual sentence.

“It might have been worth it to commission the botanist guild after all.” Clambering to her feet and sheathing her blade, her ears perked at a sound close enough to place her back on guard. She didn’t expect a simple supply gathering to run so afoul.
“...E-excuse me. Please show yourself, I am a little frazzled at the moment and would appreciate not being approached by some...stealthy...stranger.”

❝ The only way out— ❞ breath echoes against the night air, sticking to skin like sweat on the beach, ❝ —is letting your guard down and never die forgotten. ❞ A huff. Exasperation paints his voice. Worn and slightly cracked. As if exhausted from screaming at the sky, ❝ Forgive me my friend; I stand here all alone and I can see the bottom. ❞

“Tis rare to spot a traveler so far away from the roads.” He shudders despite himself from the Coerthan cold, biting as ever, even after all these winters. When he regains his composure, Rinh’a offers a slight bow. “You’re injured, and leaving a trail of blood. I’m a healer. I only meant to offer you aid.”
---
Rhen regards the Miqo'te with suspicion, ears pressed flat against his head and hidden away beneath the hood of his coat as they tend to be these days.
His posture is tense, his eyes narrowed. There is pain radiating from the wound that is only barely concealed by the tattered sleeve of his coat and he can feel liquid crimson drip down from his hand and fingers into the snow beneath.
His gaze flits down to take in the obvious trail of blood that lead the stranger directly to him and he quietly curses himself and his recklessness.
He wants to blame the unfamiliar territory, the cold that seeped into his bones during his travel, or even just the bulky coat, leading to him faltering in combat when he was jumped by one of the many monsters roaming these parts earlier, but in the end these were merely excuses for his carelessness.
The offer of help from the stranger comes as a surprise, but does nothing to ease the tension in his posture. He turns his injured side away from the Miqo'te, the hand of his intact arm clutching tighter around one of his knives.
"If you value your life, you'll stay right where you are."
The statement escapes in a hiss, teeth bared. The words are meant to be threatening, but come out more pained than colored by any sort of malice.
Rhen is forced to blink against the blurriness in his vision, no doubt caused by the loss of blood, but stubbornly tries to keep himself from swaying on his feet.
He can't show weakness, especially in front of the likes of him.

slides my grubby little paws under the door 👫
Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship
-strokes the little paws- <3
Even though Rinh’a hates his chest and the scarring there, Maru loves it. It takes the Keeper a long time to let him do it but eventually Rinh’a’s chest becomes Maru’s pillow of choice and even though there’s reduced (if any) feeling in the area because of said scarring, Maru will often idly pet through the dark fuzz there. If Rinh’a’s chest is bare for any reason, Maru will sit and stare (and drool a little).
Maru is often the one to initiate anything romantic or sexual, although Rinh’a does gradually get better at it himself. Maru eventually gets pretty good at reading into Rinh’a’s mannerisms to know when he would like something, but doesn’t have it in him at the time to ask for it whether it’s just a little reassuring contact, or sex. Maru even comes up with a small non-confrontational means of having Rinh’a let him know if he wants or would be receptive to sex, at least when they’re sharing sleeping arrangements, and that’s basically to leave some lube out.
They don’t see combat together very much. The first time they do, Maru takes a nasty wound because he’s too busy staring at Rinh’a. When Rinh’a’s patching him up afterwards and remarks on it, Maru gives a very hand-wave-y explanation about ‘fite woz hard’ rather than admit that he was thinking with his dick at the time.
For all the Seeker’s exuberance, Rinh’a often brings out the quieter side of him and Maru will often seek out the Keeper’s company just to sit quietly nearby him or share space. Spending time with Rinh’a is a nice change of pace for Maru who is normally zipping around or fighting or bearing the weight of too many burdens.
BONUS HEADCANON
The catpile. Catpile 4 lyf. Maru will just lay on Rinh’a if there’s opportunity for it. He tries not to do it if Rinh’a wouldn’t be in a comfortable position for it or if the Keeper is busy. If laying on Rinh’a isn’t an option, Maru tends to lean against him instead. Should Rinh’a catpile on him instead, Maru will immediately start purring.

@thaliakwaxing asked | 💦 - mannerisms that your muse has when they’re shy or nervous🔷️ - is your muse good or bad at lying? Questions For My Muse(s)
Shyness
Zephirin - Zeph’s words get a bit more clipped, he talks less and makes less eye contact Adelphel - He gets giggly and awkward Estinien - He just gets grumpy about it Asahi - Asahi is a tiny sociopath with no shame and therefor does not feel shyness-- I’m joking, he blushes like a motherfucker  Kiht’to - He also blushes and tends to laugh at stupid and unfunny things, including things that should not be laughed at
Lying
Zephirin - Absolutely terrible liar Adelphel - Decent liar, only does it out of necessity  Estinien - Decent liar, but is usually brutally honest  Asahi - Wonderful liar but gets frustrated when he cant have his feelings known Kiht’to - Not the best because he just doesnt do it

do your roulettes! you'll get tomes that way and you can use that to buy gear, or you can buy exarchic crafted gear off the marketboard
thaliakwaxing
progressing through msq will also unlock dungeons for better gear but honestly the easiest way is to buy exarchic. it should be pretty cheap by now and it's 510, you can upgrade it to 520 too once you get more allegory tomes
Mun: Hmmm....honestly I might as well do that and save myself the pain from running raids and all. And 520 will literally last me until like the end of maybe a few patches so it’ll be worth the investment.
The Grand Cosmos, like all except the last boss was decent enough but my ass died at the damn fire boss so many times......No way I would have gotten that done with the trust crew.

@thaliakwaxing said:  “You’re going to be fine. I promise.”
Damnation! They were basically on Ishgard's doorstep. No one expected the ambush at this point, not this close to the Steps of Faith. But they had been fools to let their guard down.
The heretic was swiftly contained because of it, having no chance of escaping with at least five soldiers immediately in pursuit, but the damage was done.
It clearly wasn't planned to be anything but an assassination attempt on one person, although the target had been the noblemen Haurchefant and his men were escorting, not the Commander of Dragonhead himself.
Haurchefant had leapt into action without thinking, something his father always berated him for and something that to this day was a habit he had yet to break.
There had not been time for blinking between spotting the bowmen and him shoving the noblemen out of harms way, only to find the arrow originally meant for the man quickly lodged in his own shoulder, his chainmail having done naught to prevent it.
A small wheeze escapes the Elezen as he leans more heavily against the Miqo'te healer, who, having witnessed the whole scene, had sprung to his side immediately to steady him.
Haurchefant grits his teeth, clutching at the arrow instinctively as he tries to keep his knees from buckling when the pain begins radiating from the wound in nauseating waves.
“If you say so--“ Haurchefant shoots back, discomfort coloring his voice as he looks down at the arrow. He finds his clothes already stained with blood, his vision blurrs. Ah... That can't be good...

“Poison...“ He manages, the word already slurring as the world around him goes dark.

“Is that three fingers you’re holding up?” and feo sul pls :3c
Tumblr media
“Oh, well...tha’s bet’er’n I was expectin’...yer lot are so fragile. Specially them heads ‘a yers.” Careful not to jostle him too much, Feo Sul knelt at his side, getting a good look at him.
“’nywhere hurt? ‘Sides yer head ‘a course." He was a handsome one, Feo Sul was admittedly a little distracted, one shouldn’t count on her to have her priorities straight. But she had already decided he was a new treasure...so...at least she’d make sure he’d live from this.
“Fr’m th’ looks a’ things, ye got hit with a flyin’...thing. No idea what it was.” Certainly not a pixie who was stretching her wings after being cramped in a glamour for so long. But it’s not like that was anywhere near important information, she’s never known anyone to die from getting hit with a pixie...a subsequent tumble from said collision...well that was a bit more likely.

Ears laid flat against his head and posture somewhat tense at the sudden contact, Rhen regards the Miqo'te with furrowed brows as he holds his hand to... inspect it?
At least it seems like that's what he is doing.
He endures the touching and turning of his hand for a while before realization finally dawns on him.
Earlier he had told the other about a cut on his palm he suffered from climbing up a particularly sharp-edged cliff just to see if he could. He hadn't meant anything by it other than make idle conversation. A skill he has yet to master, apparently.
Rhen sighs, ears turning back up as the tension in his shoulders eases.
He hasn't known Rinh'a for long, but he gets the impression the healer might be taking his profession a little too seriously at times.
"It's nothing. I've had worse."
A beat. Then, he reaches his free hand up to still the other's movements.
"You know I've had worse."

defend DEFEND
[ DEFEND ] : your muse intervenes between my muse and a source of unwanted attention.| sexual tension starters!
it wasn’t unusual for xel to get defensive of herself and her person. she was, in all honesty, a rather striking figure and certain areas of ul’dah and limsa lominsa had ... reputations that she was aware of. for all that xel seemed an innocent of sorts, getting flustered was a natural thing for her. she was not going to shy away from such a place however, given the things she sometimes had to do when running an errand for someone, helpful thing that she was, but sometimes the drunkards were certainly not ones that she wanted to encounter in the least.
today was no exception and she found herself gritting her teeth in a vicious smile, trying to not give in to the urge to turn and slam her fist into the face of the roegadyn that was leering down at her; she was after all, quite large for one of her kind, and that meant that she was treated as exotic by those who had grown tired of the usual fare of catgirl around. whatever the case was, she found herself shifting, turning to open her mouth and tell the massive sailor off--
and someone’s back was between her and the sailor, leaving her to gape for a quiet second as this -- this stranger butted in. what in the hells-- she was too baffled by this to even listen to the sailor’s mutterings as he got oh so firmly told to fuck off, if she was any judge of expression and situation both, and then she found herself muttering sharply under her breath at the back of this miqo’te that had just interjected himself into this moment. she had been spoiling for a fight and here had come this stranger and he’d ruined the moment. that, the mage decided, was decidedly unfair - to her, that was. that -- and xel was never used to someone stepping in to do that.
❝ i was perfectly capable of handling that myself, thank you very much-- ❞ she said in a tone that might’ve been called tart.

% my pitch is maru patching rinha up instead of it being the other way around but do what u will
lazy roleplayer symbol meme
Send in a symbol and I’ll: % : write a drabble about our muses
It was a small scuffle, one that should have been easy enough to deal with for Maru on his own even if Rinh’a wasn’t up for violence. However when it was revealed that they’d been flanked and the fight was one on two fronts, well Maru couldn’t be in two places at once and that was probably the point.
Someone had seen the white-haired Warrior spending a fair amount of time with the older Miqo’te, taken that to mean that the feline was of some importance to the Seeker. They weren’t wrong either. And while Maru may never find out for what reason they might want to hurt him, through Rinh’a, no-one got away with hurting his friends just for associating with him.
And hurt his friend they did, when Maru was unable to close the gap between them, cut off even by such a small distance with a mercenary between them.
Rinh’a wasn’t incapable of looking after himself, Maru knew but when he heard the Keeper hiss and saw the splash of blood against a nearby tree, the Seeker snarled, cutting down the Roegadyn between them as if he wasn’t almost twice the feline’s size and slightly awkwardly hustled his companion behind him, putting himself between the Keeper and their opponents - as it should have been from the start.
Seeing their ploy failing and one of their number dead, several more wounded, the mercenaries began to back off. It took another several wounds inflicted by the wickedly sharp bladed end of Maru’s glaive before they finally gave up.
Finally turning to Rinh’a after slipping his weapon back into its sling, Maru’s expression turned from anger to concern as he caught his breath after the fighting, ruby reds giving the Keeper a quick once-over before snowy brows furrowed.
“Let me see,” he urged gently, reaching towards the arm that Rinh’a was cradling to his chest.
“No offense meant but you’re no medic, Maru,” Rinh’a replied without moving, his eyes on the reaching hand as if it might make a grab for him.
The Seeker huffed softly, his hand still extended but moving no closer. “I didn’t say I was,” he began, his gaze on Rinh’a to put across his sincerity. “But I have a canteen of water, I can at least clean it and bind it until we get you to someone who can treat it - it looks too deep to leave on its own.” And Rinh’a certainly wasn’t going to be able to treat himself one-handed.
Maru too had come out of the scuffle with a few cuts and there’d be a nasty bruise on his forearm beneath the bracer there but nothing so serious as the gash Rinh’a was supporting. It would be no trouble to tend Rinh’a for a change.
“Please,” Maru insisted quietly. “I know it’s not much but-”
Rinh’a held up his free hand to halt the Seeker’s words with a resigned sigh, needing to hear no more of that imploring tone, nor the self-deprecating words. “Okay, okay,” he murmured, finally extending his wounded arm to set it in the waiting palm and let the vessel take a look.
After a cursory glance over it, Maru retrieved the items he needed to clean and bandage the wound while Rinh’a half sat, half leaned against the collection of boulders nearby. Unfortunately it turned out that the Miqo’te was a little heavy-handed, not used to such delicate work on others (and on those occasions that he did it himself, he was actually even worse about managing to be gentle) but several apologies later, Maru had done a reasonable job of cleaning the wound and bandaging it up as much as one could expect of someone definitely not medically inclined.
If Rinh’a had any problem with the job done, he didn’t give voice to his thoughts on it and after gently patting the Keeper’s hand once he was done, Maru stepped back to pack away the things he’d used.
“It’ll do until we get to Quarrymill,” he announced, turning in the direction they’d need to head in once the small assortment was packed away. “Hopefully the rest of the walk is uneventful...”

(coughs) idk if you figured it out yet but you wont be gated by the role quest until you reach the final zone. i think at that point it'll be a level 80 quest too, so just worry abt leveling :o
Mun: 8O
That’s actually good to know since I was worried about that! But now I can focus on getting to lvl 79 and I might run a trust dungeon and leave the side quest until I get done 5.5.
