Tommy squeezes Buck’s thigh and looks at him very intently. “I’m going to suggest something, and if you have any doubts at all, I want you to tell me no. Okay?”
“Uh, okay?” What sort of suggestions and what could Buck possibly doubt?
Tommy glances at the vacated seat across from them and in the direction of the bathrooms before looking back to Buck. He looks so cautious and careful. Like the night they first kissed. “If you wanted to, if you’re open to it, we could… make him an offer.”
Buck blinks. “An offer?”
“To spend the night with us.”
To— oh god. Any god. Every god. All the gods. “Like— you mean. Y-you mean?”
“Doesn’t have to be like that,” Tommy shakes his head. “It could be. But not if you’d worry about being left out or about you and me or how I feel about you. Okay? I wouldn’t want you to feel insecure or jealous. You’re important to me and I don’t want you to doubt that. I just— I think having him there, however we have him with us, might make you feel better. Might make him feel better, too.”
It might. It might make Buck feel better. It probably would. Yeah. Definitely. Because the idea of Eddie going home alone tonight to an empty house— because Buck knows Chris is staying with one of his friends tonight— the idea of Eddie being alone with too many tormented, angry, wound up thoughts, Buck absolutely hates that.
They could invite Eddie back with them.
They could invite Eddie back with them.
Except— “Eddie’s not— I-I mean. Eddie is— he’s straight.”
Tommy snorts a laugh and smiles at Buck like Buck is somehow being dumb. “Eddie’s not straight.”
Buck does nothing but turn into a human turning signal, blinking, blinking, endlessly blinking. “Uh, yeah he is?” It doesn’t sound sure. It should because— “Did he tell you something? Did he come out to you? Did something happen? Why would he tell you and not me?”
Tommy’s eyes widen slightly and he does that calming rubbing thing on Buck’s thigh again. “Baby, he didn’t say anything to me. He didn’t have to. And maybe I’m wrong? But I really doubt it.”
“But,” Buck says and it can’t be true. It’s not true. Buck knows Eddie. If Buck knows nothing else, he knows Eddie. “He had a wife. And two girlfriends. Nothing else.”
Tommy raises his eyebrow and gives him a strange look. “And you’d only ever been with women before I kissed you. How is it different?”
Because. It is? Eddie isn’t— he can’t be.
Could he be?
Is Eddie into men? Could that be something that’s been missing for him, too? Could someone kiss him and turn his whole world into technicolor Land of Oz because he’s never considered his feelings might be legit attraction to men? Maybe he has all sorts of feelings but has never been able to fully understand what they are and what they mean? Maybe it is something Eddie needs, too?
Is Eddie into men? Is he into men? Is he?
Eddie returns and sits down across from them and looks like there are drops of water, probably cool water, on his face and neck. He picks up his phone that he’d left lying on the table and doesn’t even look up to acknowledge them.
He hasn’t actually looked at them all night. Not for more than a split second, accidental glancing at the sun sort of thing.
Holy shit. Maybe that’s the thing. Maybe Eddie is into men and didn’t know it before because why wouldn’t he be into Tommy?

Speaking with media, including FormulaNerds, after the conclusion of the F1 British Grand Prix, Horner was asked about the potential of the Australian taking no.3 back to Red Bull. The Red Bull Team Principal replied with:
“It’s not something that we’re planning, that’s for certain.”
Horner then expanded on his answer, saying: “But, you know, it was right to give him the opportunity this year to remain within the team and keep him around the sport – I think it would have been a loss to the sport for him just to disappear.
And I think that I didn’t recognise the Daniel [Ricciardo] of the last couple of years, so I’ll be very interested to see what kind of job he does on Tuesday.”
