i noticed that a lot of people who hate on hinata and sakura are typically transphobic, but i chalked that up to a lot of them being dude bros. unfortunately, i have noticed a bit of a swarm with people spamming her tag with hate and then them being terfs :/ i think it has to do with them deciding what "real feminism" is and how they think female characters can only ever be depicted in one way and if they're written any different then they're awful and should die and are a disgrace to all women.

You know every damn day I think about that giant kerfuffle in like 2013, 2014 on here when some girl who was previously a prominent TERF "came out" as a neo-nazi and wrote a post urging other TERFs to join her because "we have more in common than you think." And at the time all the TERFs on this website disowned her and clutched their pearls and insisted that their ideology had nothing to do with fascism and white supremacy. And they kept spreading their hate and recruiting.

And now, a decade later, TERFs are openly partnering with far-right extremists to push legislation targeted at trans people that also harms people of color and neurodivergent people. Those extremists use TERF rhetoric to support their bigoted and harmful acts. TERF rhetoric has evolved to be increasingly more eugenicist and white supremacist, actively throwing people of color under the bus and using neurodivergence and disability to try and invalidate trans people. The TERF definition of "true womanhood" has narrowed to exclude more and more women, and to match white supremacist ideals of womanhood more and more exactly.

And every single time a TERF does something that is a step closer to just unmasking their fascist, white supremacist nature wholesale, I think back to that post, and how all those tumblr TERFs swore they were not neo-nazis in a feminist hat, recruiting for white supremacy under the guise of fighting to protect women.

And I'm not surprised or anything. We've been saying this entire time that TERFs were aligned more to authoritarianism than to any sort of progressivism. We've been pointing it out only to be told we were "invalidating women" or "sowing discord among women" or whatever. But damn. I still think about that every goddamn day. Some tumblrina in 2013 just admitted it outright, we now have a decade of examples to support it, and still people try to argue it isn't true.
