It's soul crushing! I have no will to succeed here! #My only motivation is that I liked the rest of the semester and I need to pass this class to continue the program! #the professor asked for an additional evaluation (still anonymous) and I'm torn about how brutal to be #because on the one hand it was an enlightening course and I am definitely better equipped as a historian than I was three months ago. #on the other hand every single one of my classmates had completely given up by the end because no matter what we did it wasn't good enough #and also the professor was just fucking mean a whole bunch. i fear my love for art history will be corrupted by my italian renaissance class

#i've had this professor before and i love her lectures but. she's started assigning so. much. work #like if i didn't take this class this semester would be easy but now it's barely bearable #so i'm an auditory learner and that's great and all for lecture #but this professor keeps assigning 30-40 page readings regularly in the tiniest little font and we have to write a 3-5 page essay on it #the essay is easy but the reading. i just can't do it. i forget everything it's about by the next day #but we have to read at least one super-long chapter each week and on top of that i'm technically supposed to be going to art events #outside of class time. but i'm not an art major and i can't be on campus that late so i'm just going to take some Fs for that ig #and we have a group project that consists of a reading an essay a second essay a powerpoint another paper and we have to present #which that is happening this friday so yayyyyy (boooooo) #and then we have a really big paper/project to do that i'm probably supposed to be working on but i have not #ughhhhhhhhhh yes i'm complaining i'm allowed to do that it's good for me even. but still #i had the slightest feeling that i should've dropped out a couple weeks in and i should have listened this class is a nightmare #and i actually love art history. i love the subject so so much. and i memorize things that i'm told. i could literally repeat her lectures #but the fucking textbook makes everything awful #i feel bad for my partner for the group assignment bc she's so on top of shit and i'm behind #though i kinda lucked out w my partner. she's like in her 40s or 50s and she looks at me like i'm a lost puppy and that is great for #working together ngl. it means that she's sympathetic and thinks she has to take the lead #usually i take the lead w group projects bc i'm that kind of person but i'm busy so i will let her be in charge #ok done complaining if u see me on here yell at me about my project

Bruh I'm apparently a straight A college student so far

#I didn't even realize it #so I've taken #oh I've taken more classes than I thought #okay so I took two dual enrollment courses in highschool along with some AP courses #with the DE- it's through the local community college- so it directly transfers (as I am now attending the local cc) #it was only two highschool courses- but it counts as four total courses for college (2 semesters for each class) #so technically as far as the college is concerned- that's four total classes (college English 1&2- and a government course 1&2) #each was 3 college credits so 12 total #anyways that's four classes right there #and I managed to get at least an A- each semester (kinda had to drag myself through my Gov class) #and then I've taken 2 courses while actually attending the community college #and they were super easy (a required college skills course and a music history course) #so yeah #6 total courses #and I'm somehow still a straight A student #this will almost certainly change when I have to take Calculus and Chemistry in the fall lol #my dad even said he won't really be able to help me :') #I'm so screwed man I'm gonna be at tutoring 24/7

extremely pissed off because the union has been negotiating a contract with my place of employment for two years, and just as they’ve finished it and negotiated raised wages for everyone, work has announced that as soon as we settle on the contract they’re eliminated waived breaks (we forego breaks in favor of getting paid for half an hour). Our salary increases are NOT significant and doing this means we’ll essentially lose money or make about the same as we had been before they eliminated waived breaks.

All this is doing is driving home that if we didn’t have the union they’d screw us over even more, and isn’t even a subtle attempt to stop them from having to pay us more.

#i'm going to bring it up in the union meetings we have before the final vote #but one major issue is that the contract that we did negotiate benefits newer employees instead of longer term ones #because most people quit after a few years due to working conditions #and I'm the longest running and thus technically highest paid in my job class #(it still ain't great) #so the wage increase is maybe a dollar fifty per hour for me #while it's three or two dollars for other people #so this will hit me harder #and IT'S SO DUMB #STOP PAYING OUR FUCKING CEO AND CLINICAL DIRECTOR SO MUCH #DO YOU WANT TO FUCKING WORK SATURDAY AND SUNDAY? #BECAUSE I DO #while those assholes are on standard 9-5 weekday
