you would pick the one where tails goes to investigate a signal /lh
“There he is.” Sonic grinned at his communicator screen, pressing the green phone button to accept the video call. “You're late, bud.”
“I know, I know.” Tails huffed, rolling his eyes. He was in a forest, Sonic guessed when he noticed the trees in the background. “Jewel asked me to check out a signal since I was nearby. I just wanted to tell you I'll be a minute.”
“You need a hand?” The hedgehog asked, getting ready to leave the small café. Knuckles frowned at the screen, but also looked like he was readying himself to go to their littlest brother.
“Nah, I don't think there's anything out here anymore.” The fox shook his head as continued walking through trees.
“Anymore?” The echidna asked, raising a brow as he leaned over to look at the communicator.
“Well,” Tails took a deep breath as he pushed a bush out of his way. “The signal actually came from a village, but when I got there it was just–empty. Nobody in sight, but.. there was a lot of blood. I'm following a trail of it right now.”
“What?” Sonic's ears perked in alarm as he stood from his chair, “Tails, where are you?”
“Sonic, I'm fine.” The kit rolled his eyes, “Whatever caused all of that isn't here anymore. Calm down.”
“You're following a trail of blood right now, kid.” Knuckles chimed in, also standing from his seat. “Where are you?”
“Seriously, guys, it's–” Tails’ jaw snapped shut and he stopped walking, his full attention on something else right now.
The teenagers shared a look at the abrupt stop. They watched as the fox's ears swiveled around, trying to find a sound.
“..I'm not alone.”
Then the call clicked off.
“Tails?!” Sonic immediately went to try and locate his brother's location, swearing under his breath when the tracker was turned off.
“We need to go to Jewel.” Knuckles decided before leaving the table, walking out of the café. The hedgehog scrambled to throw down a handful of rings for the bill before dashing after the echidna.
What happened to their little brother?
About the ask game, the Friv.com special please I need to know what you're cooking
Oh. oh man. Target audience struck right where I wanted :) hello Brainworms
So basically, this is an au based on my most favorite Friv game that I used to play when I was little. It was just a silly, no story game but a few things I observed in it stuck with me over the years and a couple pieces of fanlore formed in my head. I kept it with me and finally decided to make an au out of it.
Here you go!
"Hey look at this one."
He handed her an old newspaper article unclipped from Vector's notes. Amy compared it to the one she was looking through, her brows furrowing.
"A sales advertisment?"
"It seems to be the oldest one in the archives, a couple of months before the death of that Colen guy," Sonic elaborated, reaching to rummage through the scattered prints for similar ads.
"Wasn't he the original owner?" Amy placed the papers down, a hand reaching to rub her temples. She was already exhausted from the travels and alongside having to deal with the gradually rising trepidation with each passing day of their stay, the simple case was turning into more of a mystery.
"I don't know." Sonic sighed, also seeming on the verge of giving up, he couldn't comprehend how Amy had been handling it. "There has to be a hint somewhere of who this place originally belonged to. There's literally no record anywhere to suggest that Mr. Colen built it."
"Tempering of documentation is a possibility too," the other considered, latching onto the new line of thought. Her demeanor shifted, exhaustion being swiped away in exchange of determination. "Maybe we're looking at this wrong."
"Ya think?"
"Shut!" Amy smacked her companion with a rolled up paper, fighting back a smile at his snickers. Could never stay serious with Sonic around, could she?
"Either way, I think we should-"
CRASH
The two froze, quills flaring up at the terrifyingly loud shatter of what seemed to be china. It was followed milliseconds later by a familiar bloodcurdling scream.
Adrenaline shot through both hedgehogs' veins. Sonic swiped around the table and rushed towards the dining hall.
"Find Knuckles! Don't let him leave the house!" He shouted over his shoulder, disappearing around the bend.
Amy forced herself to move after Sonic had rushed off, heart pounding and feet firmly rooted on the carpeted floor.
Something really weird was going on with this place.
If you recognize the game, I love you. Thanks so much for the ask ! Now I'll be brainrotting about this little au
check it out, it's the logo-less version of my cover for Sonic Winter Jam! (It's retail incentive 1:10!)
you all know, it’s no secret that working on sonic is a big dream of mine -- so when i got to write Winter Jam & do this cover, i was so excited! i put sonic on center-stage, in the bright spotlight, channeling that excited energy even in the winter snow. the comments comparing this cover to the older sonic art from the 90’s are a massive compliment for me. i'm so glad that all of this shines through. thank you!
this was a kinda big undertaking as an illustration -- there are 21 characters on this cover! -- so i gotta say a big thank you to David Mariotte at IDW & Sonic Team, for both giving me the opportunity and their part in helping me pull this all together into one big ol' drawing.
you may be asking: why is sonic on stage? what’s going on in all those screens?? what is up with shadow 3 & knuckles??? you’ll just have to read the story to find out! ❄️✨
tails: no! it doesn't make sense, I hooked up the communication systems on angel island to always have connection! I don't understand why I can't get through, unless he somehow turned all of them off - but why would he do that?
