Kaikeyi || Vaishnavi Patel || 478 pages Top 3 Genres: Fantasy / Mythology / Historical Fiction
Synopsis: “I was born on the full moon under an auspicious constellation, the holiest of positions—much good it did me.”
So begins Kaikeyi’s story. The only daughter of the kingdom of Kekaya, she is raised on tales about the might and benevolence of the gods: how they churned the vast ocean to obtain the nectar of immortality, how they vanquish evil and ensure the land of Bharat prospers, and how they offer powerful boons to the worthy. Yet she watches as her father unceremoniously banishes her mother, listens as her own worth is reduced to the marriage alliance she can secure. And when she calls upon the gods for help, they never seem to hear.
Desperate for independence, she turns to the texts she once read with her mother and discovers a magic that is hers alone. With it, Kaikeyi transforms herself from an overlooked princess into a warrior, diplomat, and most favored queen.
But as the evil from her childhood stories threatens the cosmic order, the path she has forged clashes with the destiny the gods have chosen for her family. And Kaikeyi must decide if resistance is worth the destruction it will wreak—and what legacy she intends to leave behind.

“There’s a kind of time travel in letters, isn’t there? I imagine you laughing at my small joke; I imagine you groaning; I imagine you throwing my words away. Do I have you still? Do I address empty air and the flies that will eat this carcass? You could leave me for five years, you could return never—and I have to write the rest of this not knowing.”

Top 5 Tuesday - Top 5 New Authors of 2022
Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 New Authors of 2022
This week’s topic is top 5 new authors of 2022. This is seriously impossible to narrow down to five authors. I’ve read SO MANY new and new to me authors this year, and I loved so many of them. So, I’m just going to do the first five that catch my eye as I scroll through my Goodreads challenge for this year. Here we go with some of my favorite books by new (to me) authors! Top 5 Tuesday was…

Hello, lovelies! Tell Me Something Tuesday is a meme created by Rainy Day Ramblings and currently hosted by Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life, That's What I'm Talking About, For What It's Worth, Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell and Offbeat YA. It provides weekly discussion prompts on various book and blogging topics with optional participation. You can sign up for prompts here.
This week’s prompt is: Which books are you looking forward to reading this fall? (Sept-Nov)
I never plan out too much what I'm going to read since I'm incapable of sticking to that, but here are a few things I'm hoping to get to by the end of the year!
NetGalley: Can you believe I have my NG queue down to four right now!? (That's right, Carrie, brag about it-- I'll have three more in my inbox by the end of the week.) In any case, I'm really looking forward to Where Darkness Blooms by Andrea Hannah, Pretty Dead Queens by Alexa Donne, Little Eve by Catriona Ward, and The Haunting of Alejandra by V. Castro. Did you notice they're all horror/thriller?
Halloween: I was thinking about putting the rest of my reading commitments on hold for the month of October and just reading horror. I don't want to pin myself down to an actual list, but here are some titles I'm thinking about: • The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix • Malignant Summer by Tim Meyer • Hadriana in All My Dreams by René Depestre • Mapping the Interior by Stephen Graham Jones • Horrid by Katrina Leno • What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo • The Midnight Club by Christopher Pike
New Releases: Unless I'm really excited about a book or a series, I typically wait for the paperback, so the only new releases I have preordered for the fall are Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater, Scattered Showers by Rainbow Rowell, and Unbreakable by Mira Grant. It's a magical time when my three favorite authors all have books coming out in the same season!

Lakelore || Anna-Marie McLemore || 304 pages Top 3 Genres: Fantasy / Young Adult / LGBTQIA+
Synopsis: Everyone who lives near the lake knows the stories about the world underneath it, an ethereal landscape rumored to be half-air, half-water. But Bastián Silvano and Lore Garcia are the only ones who’ve been there. Bastián grew up both above the lake and in the otherworldly space beneath it. Lore’s only seen the world under the lake once, but that one encounter changed their life and their fate.
Then the lines between air and water begin to blur. The world under the lake drifts above the surface. If Bastián and Lore don’t want it bringing their secrets to the surface with it, they have to stop it, and to do that, they have to work together. There’s just one problem: Bastián and Lore haven’t spoken in seven years, and working together means trusting each other with the very things they’re trying to hide.
Publication Date: March 2022. / Average Rating: 3.95. / Number of Ratings: ~2510.

Books on my Spring 2024 TBR - Top Ten Tuesday!
Hello, hello! It’s finally time for me to spotlight some of the books I’m planning/hoping to pick up this Spring. The below are a mix of arc’s pre-orders that I would love to pick up over the next few months. I’m sure by now you’re all more than used to my post being fantasy heavy, so I wont even pretend otherwise, but there is a romance, as well as a historical fiction in there… can’t say I’m…

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals for 2024
Bookish Goals for 2024 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a really great one– bookish goals for 2024! Last year I posted this extensive list of goals, some ambitious and some that were pretty reasonable considering my blogging life. At the end of December, I posted an update on my success in meeting those goals. With all that in mind, I decided to…

Top 5 Tuesday: books I will definitely read in 2024
Hey, guys! It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a bookish favorites post. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks. I have a confession to make. I didn’t do too well with reading the books I put on this list last year. So, I’ll be adding all the books I didn’t get to last year, plus a few new additions. As…

Goals for 2024
Hey all, Sam here. Usually when it comes time for a new year, a lot of people start making New Year’s Resolutions…and some even manage to stick to them. Overall though, I tend to see so many of those resolutions get dropped early on in the year…which is why I prefer to set goals for myself for the year. But my author friend Bree also starts her year off by giving herself a word of the year (and…
