Breathe in. Aim for the target. Breathe out. Pull the trigger. And...
"I missed again," the young woman sighed. She turned towards the man behind her, and asked "Rex, are you sure the army doesn't have a single sniper that could teach me how to shoot with this damn thing ?"
"If we do, then I haven't heard of them," Rex replied, walking towards the young woman who was clearly frustrated. "Don't worry, Hemera. I'm sure you'll be able to hit that target straight in the head."
Hemera gave him a small smile, before Rex smirked. "Besides, you're not that bad. You can't hit your own target, but you're always able to hit the one next to yours," he teased.
"And don't forget that you're also one of our best mechanics," a woman said.
The Captain turned around, allowing Hemera to see who just entered the shooting range. It was none other than Annabeth Skywalker. Jedi General of the 501st along with her twin brother, Anakin Skywalker. And she also happened to be Captain Rex's wife.
While Hemera knew about their relationship and marriage, she always kept the secret. Because if anyone within the Jedi Council, or the highest ranks of the army were to know about their relationship, they would be in huge trouble.
Annabeth would be kicked out of the Jedi Order, while Rex would be decomissioned. Or worse considering Tarkin — a man who hated clone troopers — was part of the highest ranks of the army.
The Jedi put a hand on Hemera's shoulder and offered her a warm smile. "It doesn't matter if you can't hit your target. No one's perfect."
"I still should be able to hit the target, "Hemera grumbled.
"Don't worry. I'm sure that one day, you'll be able to hit that stupid target in the head," Annabeth assured before she received a message on her comm. "Master Windu and Anakin want to see me in the control room. I'll see you later !"
She ran outside the door, leaving Rex and Hemera alone in the shooting range. Hemera decided that she was done with training for the day, so she put the rifle back in its kit and placed it exactly where she found it.
"Do you have any theories on why we keep losing every single one of our most recent battles ?" Hemera asked, changing the subject.
"Not yet. I've been thinking about it for days, and I still don't have an answer. Do you have any idea on what it could be ?"
"I haven't really thought about it," Hemera admitted. "But based on what I know, I'd say it's-," she started but got cut off by her comm. "I'm sorry, Rex but I'm needed at the hangar. I promise I'll tell you my theory later," she promised before leaving the shooting range.
She quickly grabbed her stuff that she left outside of the range and walked towards the hangar where she saw numerous troopers, mechanics and pilots running right and left, never slowing down. The numerous victories of the Separatists against the Republic started to agitate everyone who was afraid that one day, the Republic will collapse and the Separatists will control the entire galaxy.
Hemera shook her head and found the trooper who contacted her, saying he needed her to repair his ship. However, when she reached him, she was surprised to see that his starship was in perfect shape.
"Um, what is the issue with your starship, exactly ?" she asked, frowning.
"I think the stabilizer is a little bit off. I felt it during my last mission," he answered. "Do you think you can repair it ?"
Hemera looked at him, and noticed that he wasn't as confident as the many troopers she worked with as a mechanic. She shot him a smile, saying "That's what I do best."
She slid under the ship and fixed the issue within a minute. She slid from under the ship and stood up, smiling at the trooper. "Your ship is all good for your next battle," she assured with a smile.
"Thank you so much."
"You're welcome, trooper."
As soon as Hemera grabbed her canteen to drink a little, her comm beeped again, making her groan. "I really can't catch a break," she muttered before answering. "Captain Rex, what do you need ?"
"Are you done with your repairs ?"
"Yeah, it was a simple thing. Why ?"
"You're coming with us on our next mission. Meet us at the docking bay in 10."
"Copy that."
She drank some water, before walking towards the barracks she shared with most men of the 501st, before grabbing her battlefield attire and stepping inside the fresher in order to take a shower. She took her clothes off and took a shower before putting her battlefield attire on.
She walked outside of the fresher and grabbed both of her pistols to put them in their hosters that were on the outside of her thighs. She then took her helmet before rushing outside of the barracks since they were a bit far from the docking bay.

As Cody introduced the members of Clone Force 99 — also known as the Bad Batch — to Rex, Jesse and Kix, he heard someone saying "I'm here !"
The Commander turned around and saw Hemera running towards him and the rest of the group. Rex also saw her, and as he was about to warn her about the wires on the floor, she tripped on it and started falling. Before Cody could catch her, she fell at the feet of one of the members of the Bad Batch, her helmet also falling on the floor.
Hemera grimaced from the fall and looked up, locking eyes with one of the members of the squad of clones she was going to work with. The clone looking down at her was extremely tall with short silver hair and brown eyes. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes while chewing on a toothpick, making her slightly nervous. "Hi," she said with a nervous smile.
She got back on her feet before grabbing her helmet and standing next to Rex, who groaned "You sure know how to make an entrance, shortcake."
The young mechanic rolled her eyes, before frowning when she saw how tense Rex was. "What's with you ?" she asked. She looked where he was looking and her eyes widened when she finally noticed the design on the nose of the Bad Batch's ship. Which appeared to be a modified Omicron-class attack shuttle. "I bet Annabeth is gonna love this," she whispered with a small laugh.
Speaking of Annabeth, Hemera saw the Jedi walking towards the small group to meet the squad that was going to help her men. She introduced herself to the men of the Bad Batch who seemed a bit surprised to see her and she frowned when she saw that Rex was glaring at the nose of the ship. She sighed before looking and she immediately blushed when she saw that the soldiers made a rather suggestive painting of her.
"Oh," she whispered with a nervous laugh. She rubbed the back of the neck before saying "I'm very honored and flattered that I'm the one you decided to paint on your ship. But um, do you think you can take it off ? Or at least, add a few more clothes."
"They better take it off," Rex grumbled, crossing his arms. Hemera let out a laugh, putting a hand on her mouth, trying to hide it.
"Are you gonna join us on this mission ?" Hemera asked, looking at Annabeth who shook her head.
"No, I'm not. The algorithm, if it's one to begin with, will probably predict that a Jedi will join you. So I'm gonna have to stay here." The Jedi looked at everyone before saying "Good luck and may the Force be with you."
After she had left, Cody cleared his throat to catch Hemera's attention, before he introduced all the members of the Bad Batch to her. She then introduced herself with a nervous smile, still embarassed after falling right at Crosshair's feet.
"So, Commander, what kind of 'suicide mission' do you have for us this time ?" the leader of the squad — named Hunter — asked.
"Let's get going," Cody answered while a gunship landed right behind him. "We'll brief you on the way."
Everyone got on board the gunship that immediately took off, taking them to their destination.
