Here are my predictions. Please keep in mind that i don't know all of the dancers which are competing and just because I am not including a dancer doesn't mean I don't think they are good. I made these just for fun.

Querido Mark,

Hola, ¿cómo va todo? Quería ponerte al día de la situación aquí en Blackthorn Hall y saber cómo va todo en la Casa Poliamorosa, como la llama Emma. Creemos que deberíais inclinaros por ese nombre; por cierto, tal vez dar a la casa un nombre deliberado como Hogar Poliamor o, por ejemplo, Maison de Beaucoup Amours.

Lo siento, estoy de broma. Sabéis que os queremos y nos encanta que estéis todos juntos. Os echamos de menos y estamos deseando visitaros en el Palacio del Botín en cuanto sea factible.

Mientras tanto, tengo una historia para vosotros: una historia en la que un brujo se equivocó. Mucho, mucho.

Como ya sabes, solo nos queda por encontrar un objeto de los que Tatiana usó para crear la maldición de Blackthorn Hall. Ragnor Felll nos indicó un par de localizaciones que se cruzan con las líneas ley en el centro de Londres que creyó serían los lugares ideales a los que ir a investigar. Uno de ellos nos llevó a los candelabros de los Lightwood. El otro señaló una casa al azar en un callejón del Soho que Ragnor identificó como la ubicación del "Hell Ruelle". Dijo que, cuando lo conoció, se trataba de un club de Subterráneos de cierta notoriedad: un "salón" al que estos acudían para discutir sobre arte y política, apostar, beber y ver bailar eróticamente a otros Subterráneos: sus palabras, no las mías. Lo hizo sonar como si fuera bastante escandaloso en su época, conocido por una especie de exceso de obscenidad, pero también por atraer a todos los Subterráneos más prominentes e intelectuales de la ciudad. Como si estuviera a medio camino entre un simposio académico y un club de burlesque, abierto las 24 horas y que servía alcohol. Por el tono de Ragnor pudimos ver que lo desaprobaba, pero como casi nunca he sabido que Ragnor apruebe nada, no fue una gran sorpresa.

También dijo que no le tenían mucho cariño a los Cazadores de Sombras, así que nos pusimos las ropas que más pegaban para un club en el Soho —Emma se puso un pequeño vestido de flores y yo cogí un par de cosas del armario de los Guays Años Sesenta, suponiendo que tenían unas vibras hípster— y nos fuimos cuando pensamos que estaría bastante lleno, sobre las diez un viernes por la noche.

Pueeeees se ve que la información de Ragnor está un poco pasada de fecha. El Hell Ruelle sigue siendo un club nocturno, y uno de Subterráneos, pero ahora es uno muy distinto. Uno donde hombres muy viejos en silla de cuero leen periódicos. Hombres viejos Subterráneos. Algunos licántropos de pelo blanco, vampiros vestidos como esto fuera 1840 (o como si estuviesen de camino a una convención de cosplay), algunas hadas que, siendo sinceros, parecían fruta seca que había aprendido a leer periódicos. Hay pequeños recovecos y rendijas que supongo que debían servir para reuniones secretas y encuentros, etc., pero que ahora están ocupados en su mayoría por ciruelas pasas que se quejaban a otros camareros ciruelas pasas de que su sopa no estaba lo suficientemente caliente.

Aún hay un bar, claro. Y la gente juega, pero parece que la mayoría solo al bridge. El poker sería demasiado para la gente de aquí, creo yo. Aun así no tengo ni idea de que pensaron de nosotros; Emma y yo pensamos que se quejarían de nuestros conjuntos, o que fuésemos Cazadores, pero nadie nos prestó atención alguna. Incluso estábamos paseando con el Sensor a la vista y apuntando a cosas sin reacción por su parte.

El Sensor se activó algunas veces pero nunca cerca de objetos, solo puntos aleatorios por la casa, y Emma sugirió que eran otros fantasmas que no eran importantes para nosotros. La verdad es que el sitio tenía pinta de tener a varios fantasmas como residentes sin duda.

Finalmente, el sensor se disparó cerca de un objeto real. Por desgracia, se trataba de una caja de cartón, un poco más pequeña que una caja de zapatos, metida encima de unos libros viejos en una de las estanterías, todo lo cual, caja, libros y estanterías, estaba cubiertas de una cantidad considerable de polvo. La caja parecía haber sido envuelta como un regalo —estaba envuelta en papel dorado brillante y había una cinta atada alrededor—, pero cuando la abrimos estaba totalmente vacía.

No sabíamos qué hacer. Pensé que tal vez la propia caja era el objeto maldito, pero sabía que eso era ridículo. Debía de ser lo que había dentro de esta. Al final nos armamos de valor y le preguntamos al camarero si podíamos ver a algún responsable y, sorprendentemente, fue a buscarlo a la parte de atrás, sin hacer preguntas. Supongo que no hay mucho entusiasmo allí y él estaba feliz de tener algo que hacer.

De todos modos, el Hell Ruelle está dirigido estos días por un brujo llamado Zebulon Spoon, y lo suyo es que tiene cabeza de gato. En lugar de una cabeza humana, su cabeza tiene la forma de un gato, con los ojos gigantes y los bigotes y el pelo. Tenía orejas de gato en la parte superior de la cabeza, pero dobladas, como las de un perro. También llevaba un sombrero marrón con agujeros para las orejas. ("Magnus se libró de una buena con lo de la marca de brujo” fue lo primero que pensé).

De todos modos, no maulló ni nada, sólo entrecerró los ojos y preguntó que nos traía por allí. Empezó a hablar de las licencias del Ruelle y de cómo todos eran partidarios de los Acuerdos y creo que debe haber alguna historia en la que el club rechazó la afiliación de algunos Cazadores de Sombras. Le aseguramos que no estábamos aquí por eso, sino que estábamos haciendo una investigación sobre la historia de la familia, que nos habían llevado a esta caja pero que no estábamos seguros de lo que había en ella o de dónde había llegado esta.

Spoon no dejó de carraspear —lo cual hizo a menudo— y dijo:

—Resulta que si conozco esa caja. Pensaba que la habían tirado hace tiempo. Contenía una paleta.

—¿Cómo un cuchillo? —dijo Emma

Spoon parecía afligido.

—Como una paleta—nos dijo, en un tono que sugería que pensaba que éramos idiotas.

Por suerte, Emma llevaba su teléfono, y esto resultó ser una pequeña barrera lingüística entre el idioma americano y el británico. Aquí, un "paleta" significa... bueno, una espátula.

—¿Alguien regaló una espátula? —Dije—. ¿Sólo una espátula?

El brujo parecía más y más afrentado con cada pregunta.

—Esta paleta era de plata de ley—dijo—. Fue un regalo de bodas, hace mucho tiempo, de unos Cazadores a otros. Tuvo que ser hace más de cien años. Aquí, creo que hay algunos nombres en la parte exterior si aún se pueden leer.

Tenía razón. Había tinta en el lateral, y estaba bastante manchada por el tiempo, pero pudimos distinguirla:

"Felicidades W&T, con amor de Henry y Charlotte".

—¿Quiénes eran Henry y Charlotte? —preguntó Emma

—Ni idea —dijo Spoon—. Esto fue décadas antes de que yo naciese. Solo tengo setenta años, sabes.

—Un verdadero chaval —dije, y se le vio complacido. Lo que fuera para que siguiera hablando.

—Cómo digo, no sé como llegó aquí —continuó Spoon—. Cuando llegué aquí la encontré en La Sala de Magia Oscura.

Por supuesto, le preguntamos que era esa habitación.

—Ya sabes—dijo, desconcertado—, La Sala de Magia Oscura. Aquí quedan un montón de cachivaches, ya ves, y la mayoría de ellos están repletos de magia oscura. Ninguno de los empleados quiere tener nada que ver con la magia oscura, claro está. Así que esas cosas se guardan en la Sala de Magia Oscura, que solía ser una despensa, supongo, pero hace tiempo que está fuertemente protegida. De vez en cuando alguien viene a buscar algo que ha dejado, así que lo mantenemos... a salvo.

La forma en que me miró me hizo entenderlo todo. No se trataba sólo de objetos perdidos. Mantenían los artefactos mágicos oscuros a salvo... de que los nefilim como nosotros los descubrieran e investigaran.

—¿Con qué frecuencia ocurre eso? —dijo Emma, diciendo lo que yo estaba pensando. El público del club no parecía que fuera a traer esa clase de emoción.

—Bueno, el Ruelle solía ser muy diferente de lo que es hoy—confesó Spoon—. Hemos trabajado mucho a lo largo de los años para convertirlo en un lugar más respetable, en el que Subterráneos puedan encontrar un poco de paz y tranquilidad. He descubierto que la paz y la tranquilidad son un bien cada vez más escaso. La intriga y la aventura la pueden conseguir en el resto de la ciudad hoy en día.

—Nos estabas hablando de La Sala de Magia Oscura—dije amablemente—. Y la paleta.

—Silencio— dijo Spoon, parpadeando—. Como iba diciendo, aplicamos una nueva política con la Sala de Magia Oscura. Todo aquello que tuviese más de cien años se iría al contenedor de basura. O al menos que no se iba a quedar aquí. Seremos inmortales, pero creo que si un vampiro o un brujo no necesita algo por cien años, tampoco lo necesitarán en un futuro.

Asentimos y Spoon se cruzó de brazos.

—Así que intercambié la paleta con un puka por un sombrero.

La ultima frase fue tan abrupta que simplemente dije:

—¿Disculpa?

—Intercambié la paleta —dijo Spoon en un tono de voz razonable—, a un puka. Por un sombrero. Este, en concreto. Ves, tiene agujeros para que mis orejas puedan atravesarlo.

Emma asintió de una manera que me hizo ver que no tenía ni idea de que decir.

—¿No podría haber cortado esos agujeros en un sombrero normal? —dije.

—Por supuesto que no —explicó Spoon—. Eso arruinaría el sombrero. Este se hizo así. Además, como dije, estaba tratando de deshacerme de la paleta. Francamente, el mero hecho de tenerla cerca molestaba a las sirenas. Se sintieron muy aliviadas de tenerla fuera de aquí, sin duda.

—Pero en realidad no corta el pescado—dijo Emma—. Es sólo una espátula.

—Rebana pescado, en efecto—dijo Spoon—. Las molesta. Los corta… ¡hasta los huesos!

Tuvimos que esperar un minuto entero mientras se reía de su propia broma.

Y ahora llegamos al meollo de la carta: intentamos localizar a este puka y esperamos que a Kieran se le ocurra algo. Un puka que... ¿fabrica sombreros? ¿Tal vez le gusta llevar consigo una espátula de plata? Es poco probable, pero es todo lo que tenemos para seguir. No queremos asustarlo, así que si lo encuentras, dile que queremos encargar algunos sombreros. Eso sí, no necesitamos agujeros para orejas de gato, aunque, por lo que se ve, parece que sabe lo que hace en cuanto a sombreros.

I’m absolutely delighted to have Poetry as Spellcasting in my hands! I’m so grateful to editors Tamiko Beyer, Lisbeth White, and Destiny Hemphill for including me in this gorgeous anthology, and for helping my essay become more fully realized, more deeply itself.

And while I haven’t finished the book yet, I think the power of the writing is enabling precisely that sort of transformation, helping us perceive potential and cast off constraints so that we can all be more gloriously ourselves and make the world a more beautiful and just place to exist. Just take a look at the opening of the first poem of the collection, “Awakening of Stones: Hypothesis/Central Argument” by Lisbeth White:

In the new mythology, you are always whole.

If and when you fracture, it is not apart.

Apart does not exist here.

You will know that upon entry.

Mateo lives a simple, quiet life. Though, it seems that over time, he’s noticed that he has the tendency to attract wild ass people with crazy ass stories. Such is that as a landlord, but even before he inherited his father’s properties, Mateo has always brought in peculiar characters. Perhaps it’s his nature. He’s always been a rather mild individual. Quiet and certain in his own beliefs, Mateo does his best to keep to himself. With, of course, the exception of family. He has a mother who always sends him home with more food than he can eat by himself, and a father who has taught him everything he knows now. He’s grateful for the life he’s been given, understanding that both of his parents worked hard for what they have now. Though Mateo inherited the family business as a property owner, that doesn’t mean he’s an only child. He has a rather large family and he’s the second oldest of five siblings. Two sisters and two brothers. The reason he inherited the business was because he stuck around. He married half-way through trade school and stayed married for 5 years. Things didn’t pan out for the better. Not that anything wrong happened, he and his ex-wife, Tatiana just… fell out of love. While Mateo wonders if things could’ve worked out if they had just tried a little more, he doesn’t hold any ill-regards towards her. The two are on speaking terms and occasionally Mateo still helps Tatiana with some house projects, but the spark is long gone. Mateo never left, even after the divorce. Instead, he helped his dad with his properties and learned how to invest in large projects until he could eventually take it on for himself. Mateo spends his days meeting all kinds of people through the properties he leases out. He’s had to evict the worst kinds of people and at some points – had even been on a first name basis with a lot of the police. Despite everything, Mateo likes to think he has a good sense of ethics and people’s characters. He prefers to keep to himself, though those luxuries are far and few in-between because of his line of work. His patience is a virtue, though his personality is blunt and humor is dry.

Olá anon! Na verdade, infelizmente nunca encontrei muitos artistas (pelo menos que eu saiba) que fizesse parte.

Eu sei que a Cher Lloyd, tem uma ascendência romani por parte da família da mãe, e a Nina Dobrev fez um tweet dizendo que ela era uma “gypsy” (estou falando apenas o que ela disse), mas não se sabe realmente se é por conta da ascendência ou porque ela estava dizendo que era meio “nômade”, que já foi um costume antigo deles.

Jinjer regresa a la Argentina

Confirmando su excelente momento a nivel global, Jinjer, la banda ucraniana de metal liderada por Tatiana Shmaylyuk, regresa a la Argentina el martes 10 de diciembre en “El Teatro Flores” , junto a la banda alemana Heaven Shall Burn, en el marco de su “South América Tour 2024”. En este nuevo encuentro con su público la banda interpretará lo mejor de su trascendental repertorio.

injer, la banda de metal ucraniana más popular de todos los tiempos, ha demostrado desde su formación en 2009 que la música heavy puede innovar y llegar a una amplia audiencia. Al igual que Heaven Shall Burn, regresan a Sudamérica.

El cuarteto, formado por Tatiana Shmayluk (voz), Roman Ibramkhalilov (guitarra), Eugene Abdukhanov (bajo) y Vlad Ulasevich (batería), presenta una audaz mezcla de death metal, metal progresivo, nu metal, groove metal y djent.

La banda logró reconocimiento por primera vez en Europa después de ganar el "Premio a la Mejor Actuación de Metal Ucraniana" del sello InshaMuzyka con sede en Kiev en 2013, gracias a su primer EP: "Inhale, Don't Breathe".

En 2016, la banda repitió hazaña, esta vez ganando también el premio al mejor vídeo musical con el tema "I Speak Astronomy". Estos logros llamaron la atención de Napalm Records, sello a través del cual la banda lanzó su tercer álbum: "King of Everything". El álbum se hizo conocido después de que la canción "Piscis" se volviera viral en YouTube, y muchos elogiaron la interpretación vocal de Tatiana.

Después del éxito del tercer álbum "Macro" y de giras mundiales junto a bandas como Slipknot, siempre con shows agotados, Jinjer lanzó el ambicioso y técnico álbum "Wallflowers", con un ritmo imparable y contagioso, que elevó aún más su estatus y popularidad entre aficionados y medios especializados.

Heaven Shall Burn es una institución del metal europeo, activa desde 1996 y con varias actuaciones en Sudamérica regresa luego de varios años. La banda, actualmente formada por Marcus Bischoff (voz), Maik Weichert (guitarra), Alexander Dietz (guitarra), Eric Bischoff (bajo) y Christian Bass (batería). Con álbumes como "Whatever It May Take" y "Antigone", mostró la energía y la agresión de un metalcore único con "Iconoclast (Parte 1: The Final Resistance)".

Esta conexión con la comunidad del metal en general enfatizó su relevancia duradera en la escena. Heaven Shall Burn marcó estándares musicales, siendo un referente para nuevas bandas, en gran parte debido a su implicación activa en causas sociales y políticas, centrándose en los derechos humanos y animales.

How Blackface "Humor" Thrives in the Americas

While blackface is majorly condemned here, Americans are blind to its persisting legacy. In class, we learned about examples of anti-blackness and minstrelsy that are majorly supported. A prominent example is Soldado Micolta, a beloved TV character in Colombia.

Afrolatinx protesters went to Bogota, Colombia in 2015 to protest Soldado Micolta, demanding the character to be taken off air. When this happened, however, Colombians responded by claiming that Soldado Micolta represented the country’s “diverse cultural and racial expressions of humor” (Meraji & Demby, 2018).

Using humor to excuse racism is nothing new in Latin American society. There has been a recent study analyzing cases of racial discrimination brought to the Justice Tribunal of the State of Sao Paulo in Brazil. From 2012 to 2016, judges have often dismissed these cases because the question of criminal intent is analyzed through “the lens of racialized social teasing and jokes” (Hernández, 2019, p. 351). Racial discrimination, despite how hurtful it can be, continues to be ingrained in the culture because of how people continue to be flippant about it.

You would probably be asking, “What does this have to do with me? Sure, this sucks, but Black people in the US have it so much better now.” It would be silly to not recognize the changes that society has made to make the world a better place. However, we should not ignore the United States’s history of white supremacy and anti-blackness. Distinct non-white ethnic groups in the United States are continued to be seen as foreign, but often times, they would show support towards conservatism and racist ideologies. This can be explained with the idea of “multiracial whiteness.” Multiracial whiteness is an ideology that reflects the understanding of whiteness as more than a skin color. Whiteness guarantees a political identity and culture that represents dominance over others (Flores, 2021). Afrodescendants of today who are successful in a White-powered society like the United States’s look this way because of adaptation. While Americans have become more accepting of Afrodescendants, African-Americans have also adapted to white standards of life.

In fact, Latinx Americans, including all skin tones, participate in anti-Black violence. There has been a "disturbing trend" of more Latinxs joining white supremacist hate groups like League of the South and the Proud Boys (Hernandez, 2022, p. 103). There have also been isolated incidents where Latinx Americans have assaulted Black folks. In 2012, Peruvian American George Zimmerman murdered Black teen Trayvon Martin for walking in his neighborhood, but it was argued that he was not racist because of his Latino heritage (Hernandez, 2022, p. 102). Minorities in the US are just as capable as white people of being racist towards African-Americans, and we often ignore this fact.

“The problem today is that people are laughing at the wrong things,” my theatre and film professor, Allan Havis, tells me when describing blackface in film. There have been many examples in movies of blackface being used in satire, such as Tropic Thunder (2008) and Bamboozled (2000). While they have both received mixed opinions because of their controversial themes, there has always been an existing minority that finds these movies funny not because of the satire, but because of blackface itself.

Reparations toward African Americans have always been the subject of a complicated debate, but I believe that they are necessary given the long-lasting stain of blackface from the past to the present.
