“I keep my closet free of skeletons
‘Cause I’m much better at digging graves
But I always dig up bones in your sympathy
I can’t trust a single thing you say.”
— The Crane Wives, “Metaphor”
bonus: the full piece without the tarokka frame, and with a higher resolution!!
kinda feel like I over-blended the highlights, but oh well :/
please pretend that I know how to draw feet
shoutout to @jookpubstock for enabling my Achlys brainrot once again by providing the pose I referenced for this drawing, as well as my reference for the skirt and shirt!!

My my uncle is a big dnd nerd and he has been a DM for a long time and on Easter, only two days ago, I informed him of my plans to run a Curse of Strahd campaign (I have never been a DM before so this is big for me) and he went home and bought the Curse of Strahd book, Van Richtens Guide to Ravenloft, and a Tarokka deck for me. I love my uncle. This is so fucking cool

Tarokka Deck Commission (36/55): Rogue
The Rogue card is the master of coins, and it represents anyone for whom money is important; those who believe money is the key to their success.
I'm alive! I didn't die in the last month and a half 😓 I've just been dealing with (apparently seasonal) art block (January just sucks for my creativity, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Oh, and maybe the amount of details in this are partially to blame. But it looks pretty good! And I'm quite happy with it 😄
Like what I do? You can tip me on ko-fi! My commissions are also open! Everything linked in bio!
(Commissions ordered now may be delayed until this current commission series is done)

i have over $-100 in my bank acc rn and i wanna fix a lil of that so! opening 10 types of divination tips $1 plus, any amount of cards/tossess/questions! yes, for literally a dollar ill do the fucking Celtic cross for you!
divining methods are....
1. astro dice (with numerology dice included but optional)
2. Runes!
3. Bone toss
4. Janet (my crazy b-tch pendulum, love her. made of Hematite)
5. Seamus (kinder but oddly business savvy? my mom asks him finacial questions a lot. made of shungite, gold leaf, and resin)
6. My Tarrokka deck (very dark themes, very straightforward answers)
7. My Vice Versa tarot (always gives honest but open ended answers)
8. The Faires oracle (kind and unafraid of ripping you to shreds if needed)
9. The Arcana tarot (from the Arcana game- super cute vibe, good for answers about the short term, not the best at longer term questions)
10. candle scrying, on the Cauldron, the Trans Pride Camdle, or The Great Pumpkin
dm me if you want one! these will be open all week :)

My dnd group and I have been playing Curse of Strahd for a few months now, and all of our characters have had a few Tarokka card readings. I thought it would be fun to design the main cards we all pulled, and I wanted to really base them off of our characters.
So, to start us off, we have Belladonna Wixx, @wintert-ide ‘s necromantic wizard/ cleric who hates death, but is also dying herself due to a pretty awful curse (long story). She is the older sister to my boy Atropa and the two siblings are really close and basically attached at the hip.
A lot has happened already in our game, but we have a long way to go still. Barovia is a scary place and we are all just trying to make it out alive.
Loving every second of it!

I think the best thing about tarokka is that even outside of Strahd stuff it's a perfectly functional oracle deck. I made my own art deco printable designs that you can get for free over here:

i dont remember if this one is technically finished? here it is anyways.
The Raven is a Tarokka card from the shadowy and mist-filled Ravenloft. It represents a turn of events, good fortune on the horizon, incoming good news.
I was going to turn all of the tarokka cards into pixel art cards, but I never got around to doing more than 2 or 3. Maybe I'll pick it back up at some point.

Maruschka reading actual tarot cards to Jander in Vampire of the Mists leads me to believe that Barovia became so increasingly messed up over time that the Vistani just started removing some of the lighter cards. Eventually noticed they were pulling the same ones over and over in readings. Every time a Vistani made a new deck, the art kept getting darker, and they Thothlike started changing the names of some of them to better reflect the depictions. And eventually tarot morphed naturally into tarokka the way regional language dialects evolve over time, both in name and form.

Tried a different style for this. I was aiming to give it a similar feel to the Tarokka cards in the deck but wanted to redo Ismark's associated card to feature him and paint him as both victim and executioner since he's a bit of a tragic character (and I made him get bit by a werewolf in my campaigns).
