Hey besties, got an influx of new followers, all which look like new blogs, some of which were definitely real, some of which were definitely spambots, many of which were just blank, so an evergreen tumblr tutorial: please set yourself a banner and a profile picture. Give yourself a short bio. Reblog at least one thing, just to prove that there's a real person behind the wheel.

Even if you just want to lurk for a while, posting quick just to say "real blog, just lurking" separates you from the frequently high volume of mass-purchased spam blogs built by algorithm. Enough people are wary of this now that you might be being inadvertently blocked/reported by people you follow (I generally leave blank blogs alone unless they start blogging about e-commerce or pr0n, but many people have a harder trigger finger: I come prebuilt with the experience of having lurked for a long time when I first joined tumblr way back in 2011, because I wasn't sure if reblogging was...allowed: it is, in case you were unsure. People fucking love when you reblog their posts unless they have specifically requested that you don't or it's a personal post about their individual lives—as long as you're not taking a screenshot and making your own post, you're still well within courtesy on tumblr).

one thing I think it's vital to remember about templates is that you oughta still get to know them, don't consider them work-done. know what it does, personalize it, change it to suit you better, know how to fix it. templates kinda do the hard work of laying out everything you need in workable order, but the way in which most engines work is that from version to version some things are gunna change and as you get better at coding, you're gunna wanna do things a particular way.

I only say this because I think it would be demoralizing to keep trying to make a game while not knowing your template and just relying on the code to continue working the way you think it's supposed to, because inevitably that changes. consider it thrifted and learn how to make your own repairs and flairs yk.

opened hybrid and gotta say, stupid stuff bothers me. I typically tag my passages when there's a player choice in them (so the next arrow doesn't show at the bottom) and for hybrid I made the choice tag blue? sick. twisted. the choice tag is green. everyone knows that but you hybrid.

Steam has an Obsidian sale going on, low prices on games like Pillars of Eternity (and the sequel Deadfire), Tyranny, Outer Worlds, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Pentiment, and Fallout New Vegas !! Sale is going til....June 19th I believe !! I recommend Pillars + Deadfire, both because I like them and because their new game, Avowed, takes place in the Pillars universe !!

Another call to spice up a totally irrelevant character-building choice: what's your favourite sick food? Not even necessarily food you eat with a flu (although also valid) but food you eat to feel better (can also include mentally). No desserts/drinks please (sweeter meals are okay, it's just context that MC is eating a meal rather than having dessert/a snack/drink).
