Tales Through Time isn't 100%  "truth" because the entire anthology was written by Yitzhak, who chronicles the memories of his fellow immortals.  His words have inevitably lost some fidelity from their original source, but he still preserves an untold wealth of knowledge from the ravages of time.

Oh, my kingdom for some Yitzhak in the TOG movies! That hulking great bear of a man making an appearance would be *hilarious* to explain, given how they've kind of done the whole "we dream of each other" premise in the movies!

The andyisaac fic started after reading Tales Through Time; if Andy took a year or so off (as the movie said she did) who's to say that the oldest woman alive didn't want to spend some of her time with the oldest man alive? A man who'd chosen to step away from EVERYTHING and just... Live? A man who could show her there was peace and room to decompress?

“I’m looking for someone,” Andy said, furtively keeping an eye on the other townspeople. “A man.” The cashier smiled wryly and continued packing Andy’s things. “Aren’t we all?” He chuckled, shaking his head. Andy found herself smiling in return. “He’s a big guy. Tall. Dark hair. Kind of difficult to miss.” The cashier smiled even more widely. “I know the guy you mean.” Andy was simultaneously relieved but concerned that they seemed to know who she meant. Keeping a low profile hadn’t seemed to occur to him. “Does he live in town?”

The assistant shook his head. “No, I’m afraid not. Nobody really knows exactly where he lives. He mostly keeps to himself.”

Andy sighed. The area was so beautiful, she didn’t mind hiking and looking around but had hoped her search might have been made a little easier.

The cashier noted the despondent look on Andy’s face and took pity on her.

“There’s a cabin on a track just off the main road out of town, maybe 2 miles out,” he said, passing the bag to Andy. “He’s been seen around there. It might be a good place to start.”

Andy smiled and handed some cash over. “Thank you.” “No problem,” he replied, ringing it up and passing Andy her change.

Items in hand, Andy made for the door when she heard the cashier call after her.

“How do you know him, anyway?”

And stopped and turned, an enigmatic smile turning the corners of her mouth.

“He’s an old friend,” she replied, pulling the door open and walking back out into the street.
