The Music Institute was open for a short 18 months, but it pioneered Techno music, was home to leading DJs, and producers and inspired a generation of Black people to make genre shifting music that would be heard for decades to come. 
 Episode two dives into Danceteria which was more than a nightclub, it was an artistic incubator at the heart of New York’s early 80s cultural renaissance. Danceteria became an opportunity for musicians, artists, and activists to seek inspiration – with artists like Madonna performing on stage for the first time and Keith Haring painting art straight onto the walls.
