Being SYSMED harms TRAUMAGENIC SYSTEMS!
I am an OSDD-1b system who used to be a sysmed/traumascum, and it harmed me. I encourage other systems to avoid being sysmed.
Sysmeds believe all systems suffer from dissociation, should fuse into one, and that the host is most valuable. They often see being a singlet as superior to having alters, and may believe being professionally diagnosed is necessary. They think systemhood can only start from trauma at a very young age- yet if you're 15 or younger and know that you're a system your experience should be doubted. Being a sysmed can lead to hurting your system by abusing alters and seeing them as burdens or less valuable then you as a host.
When I became pro-endo(again), I learned to respect and appreciate my system, while as sysmed- I abused my alters, especially persecutors, because "the host is most important" mentality sysmeds share.
Embrace your DID/OSDD system, it's a part of you that won't go away. Being pro-endo can help shift your mindset from seeing your system as a burden to a positive aspect of who you are as well as gain their support and love. Accept support from those who understand, even if their experience doesn't perfectly match yours.
Endogenic systems deserve respect even if you think they are "confused" or "un-knowingly traumagenic" so let go of any hostility towards them. Trust that their experiences are genuine because frankly- its their right to know what experiences they had, not yours.

Definition of Sysmed
(This is my own definition of sysmed based on how I use the term and have seen others use the term.)
A sysmed or system medicalist is someone with an overly-medicalized view of plurality and systemhood; and who enforces that view onto others. This is most commonly associated with false beliefs that someone can't be plural (having multiple people, personality states or other entities in one body) without a mental disorder or trauma, but also extends to beliefs like "headmates/alters are parts, not people."
The term is derived from transmedicalism, an exclusionist ideology that holds that transness is inherently a mental disorder and that any trans person who doesn't experience gender dysphoria can't actually be transgender.
Despite being frequently presented as scientific fact, sysmed claims tend to lack support by actual scientists, who almost unanimously acknowledge the existence of other forms of plurality. (Such as the World Health Organization's ICD-11 stating that you can have multiple "distinct personality states" without a disorder.)
Because of this, system medicalism can be considered a type of pop psychology, being popularly presented as scientifically sound despite lacking any actual scientific basis or merit.

whenever i thought i had it i was so shameful pf it. i didnt tell ANYONE. i was so scared that someone would find out. anytime someone irl brought it up i felt fear.
there are still things that i remember doing but that felt like i didnt *do* or like i did it in a dreamlike state. kind of like when you first wake up. even though i DIDNT.
THERE ARE POSTS ON MY ACCOUNT I DONT REMEMBER MAKING. THERE ARE DRAWINGS IN MY SKETCHBOOK (lets be fr, school workbook) THAT I KNOW I WOULD NEVER MAKE, BUT I REMEMBER DOING
i KNOW you guys wanna hate fakeclaimers but theyre the ONLY reason i was able to get out. and its still awful.

Sysmed is a very stupid term.
ill never get over how stupid of a term "sysmed" is
its taken from transmed, which is a terrible term within itself as transmeds fucking suck
it makes no sense
transmed means: "Transmed, short for transmedicalist, refers to trans people who believe that dysphoria is required to identify as transgender."
Being transgender and having a mental disorder like DID/OSDD are two very different things. Comparing those two seperate experiences is asinine.
Gender is a complex thing that cant be defined by dysphoric or non dysphoric, it doesn't boil down to gender dysphoria. It's the wonderful euphoria you get from finally understanding yourself, its the euphoria and joy you get from being seen as your true self for the first time. Equating being transgender to suffering is inherently bad, which is why pushing the idea that you NEED to have dysphoria to be trans is bad.
But DID/OSDD are disorders *caused* by suffering. They are nothing even nearly comparable to being transgender.
Being a system cannot be defined by euphoria. Why anyone would be euphoric over dissociation, confusion, amnesia, splitting, etc is beyond me. It just isn't a thing.
Sysmeds are sysmeds because DID and OSDD are clinical disorders proven to be caused by childhood trauma.
Sysmeds are sysmeds because were tired of people using mental disorders as fun little terms.
You don't have to suffer because you CHOOSE this. Plain and simple.
If you don't suffer because you're a system, then you're not a system. It is inherently disabling and causes suffering, or atleast impacts and impairs your daily life.
Sysmedicalists are people with common sense who listen to science. That is all

On the usage of the word "sysmed"
I'd like to preface this by saying that I am endo critical, but this argument isn't going to be just "I don't like being called that." I do have my own personal qualms with people on all sides of any issue making up their own words to define the 'other side', but just saying "stop that because I don't like it" has never and will never be an actual or convincing argument. I have actual reasons for this, so please read them before dumbing down my opinion to "oh, he just doesn't wanna be called what [we think] he is".
(quick note: I am plural and trans, which is why I'm speaking on this. Also, the other day I had a very frustrating argument in which I think the other person really should have heard this, so I'm putting this out there in the hopes of reaching other people who might otherwise not think about it. Feel free to disagree, argue, or comment on anything I say, but please do read it all first and be respectful, as I will do my best to do the same to any/all of you.)
The word "sysmed" is taken directly from the word "transmed", which is the main issue I take with it. Transmedicalism is a belief held by many conservative(/-leaning) people--trans and cis alike, although generally more often cis people, who really shouldn't be talking about trans issues at all. Transmedicals, or transmeds, hold that a person is not "really" trans unless and until they fully physically transition (hormones, top & bottom surgery, all of that), and that anybody who can't, doesnt want to, or hasnt yet medically transitioned isn't "valid".
This is highly classist and ableist, because many people don't have the money to transition or they cannot safely transition due to medical issues. And some people just don't want to medically transition, fully or at all, for any plethora of (personal, might I add) reasons. This does not make them 'invalid', but many people think it does, which is why it is a problem for the trans community.
The issue here is that the word "sysmed" is taken from "transmed" despite having nothing in common with it. The only way this would make sense if it was referring to the belief that somehow one did not become a system/plural until obtaining a diagnosis of OSDDID, which is technically an existing belief, but is fairly uncommon. Instead, "sysmed" has been used for anti-endos, and now anybody who criticizes the endo community at all. This is diluting the actual meaning of the word and labeling people as it when they really have nothing to do with what the word means.
It also implies that it has ties to the medical field. Endos claim that they are plural without having the clinical conditions generally attributed to plurality, so using the word "sysmed" weakens their argument by contradiction and ties it to the seriousness of medical issues/conditions when it actually has nothing to do with that, which is extremely harmful and honestly just shitty because its not cool to use medical stuff to add a "gotcha" to a non-medical argument.
Furthermore, the fact that it's taken from the word "transmed" implies a connection or equation between being trans and being plural, which is inaccurate. Being trans and being plural are two completely different things. The only similarity is that they're both generally neurological, but in the same way you wouldn't equate, say, bipolar disorder to tourette's, it makes no sense to compare them. And it is harmful because it is normalizing use of the word, which dilutes its meaning and takes away from the problems it should actually be used for.
That's not to say that you can't compare two experiences that *you* have. If you are both trans and plural, and you see a similarity between the two, because you experience both there's nothing wrong with talking about it. But just because two things aren't mutually exclusive doesn't mean they're the same. Using the word "sysmed" weakens endos' arguments, diverts the conversation in a direction that makes no sense, and dilutes the meaning of an unrelated issue.
If you're pro-endo, you are absolutely allowed to criticize people and arguments you disagree with. But using the word "sysmed" is inaccurate, harmful, and ends up weakening your argument. It's best to call people what they are, whether they're pro, anti, neutral, critical, or anything else. That's how we'll be able to have genuine and helpful conversations and debates: not by making up new words and pulling random other things in, but by looking at things how they are and identifying and discussing how we view and experience them.
If anyone has any arguments or has any other info about the term, please let me know! I'm curious to hear what other people, especially people on different sides of the endo debate, think of this. Thanks to anybody who read this far, lol :)
Have a lovely day, everyone!

Reaaally bored at work so it's rant time. Idk if I or someone else ranted about this at some point already but whatever
Wdym "sysmed"? Isn't DID/OSDD a medical disorder to begin with?
I get why "transmed" is a thing because being trans is a gender identity. It's who you are. Sometimes you're born with it, sometimes you find out later in life. And so many other things. It's not a disorder...no matter what some dipshits say.
So first, please don't lump gender identity and mental disorders together.
And second. Like I said, it's a disorder. It's found in the DSM5 which means Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. It's seen and treated as such. It's diagnosed by doctors and treated with therapy. All of that is medical stuff. So I don't understand why so many people use "sysmed" as an insult, or something negative.
Which does bring me to "systems formed without trauma" and or "non-disordered systems"
You cannot have a "non-disordered" disorder. You cannot have DID/OSDD without trauma. I'm not here to police what trauma counts and what doesn't because that's not important nor it is my place to judge. But some trauma is required to shatter your personality into pieces.
I'm not saying things that might appear as/mimic these disorders don't exist. I'm not saying you can't have the presence of multiple entities within one body/mind. But that is not DID/OSDD. Even the articles people usually send us to prove their point clearly state that "DID should not be assigned in these cases".
All that so say "non-disordered endos" please stay out of the DID/OSDD community/spaces. Your experiences are SO different from ours. And uneducated people might look at "non-disordered endos" and think that's what the actual disorder is

"Narc" Abuse = Emotional Abuse
It's funny seeing something so relatable to you on instagram regarding family trauma or relationship drama in general then you look at the tags to see it is tagged under "Narcissistic abuse" AND "Emotional abuse". FYI they are the same thing, one is an incorrect and ableist version while the other is the correct version.
Then you get to the comments and it is so MUCH worse, especially when someone is trying to educate these people who refuse to educate themselves and trauma dump to justify their ableist views and why they use narc abuse as a term to describe an abuser.
NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) stems from trauma that causes an emotional imbalance, which causes unwanted out-lashes towards those they love and are close to. This is why ACCOUNTABILITY is important for the person with NPD (or really any disorder that has horrible symptoms that one cannot control), it is also important for the other person to understand that the person with NPD cannot control their symptoms. You can be hurt because it is an emotion that will happen regardless, but you cannot use ableistic terms on them especially if they are trying to heal and trying to do better
Narc Abuse DOES NOT EXIST and if you believe it does your are an extremely horrible and disgusting person who needs more therapy than people with NPD do. Don't use terms that aren't for you to use and don't just water the term down because you gained the wrong information and choose to believe it instead of listening to those who struggle with the stigma every single day

"Sysmed is Transphobic" Breakdown
"Sysmed is transphobic because it compares them to transmeds."
No. Comparing a group to transmeds isn't transphobic. Especially when many of the systems that do this are transgender themselves.
"But the comparison isn't accurate."
Why?
"Transmeds harass-"
So do sysmeds.
"Transmeds misgender-"
So do sysmeds.
"Transmeds try to takeaway medical treatment from-"
One of the core arguments employed by sysmeds is that endogenic systems (which they often include mixed origin systems as) are stealing resources. Usually, psychiatric care.
Many rushed to support the McLean hospital video that publicly fakeclaimed diagnosed DID systems for not being ashamed enough of their multiplicity.
If you don't realize that making it more difficult for systems to get medical care is the goal of this narrative, you haven't been paying attention.
"You can just use anti-endo instead."
No. System medicalism extends beyond the confines of the endogenic debate.
The bending over backward to support the McLean video is one example. The debate over headmate being parts vs being people is another. (Not systems using parts language for their own headmates, but trying to force this view on others and present people language as anti-recovery.)
"But sysmed is used as an insult. People don't identify as sysmeds."
People don't identify as transphobic either. Kind of weird to pick and choose which pejoratives can be slapped onto people without their consent like that.
"But it's misused sometimes!"
Oh no! A misused pejorative! Say it ain't so, person accusing transgender people of transphobia for comparing two groups who have attacked and harassed them for their identities! 🙀
"But it's different because being a system is a mental illness while being trans isn't."
Transmeds think being transgender is a mental illness.
"But we're different because being a system really IS a mental illness"
🙄
Do we need to have a discussion about circular reasoning?
Like it or not, pejoratives are going to exist and be used in syscourse.
The arguments for why this particular word should be off limits range from weak at best to hypocritical at worst.
Frankly, you should be thankful this is the one that stuck instead of pluscum/plurscum.

edit 11/10/22: Jesus christ you guys really are ruthless huh. Some of you really need to realize the difference between malicious intent and people explaining their reasonings for their beliefs.
Also, the reason we tagged this as "endogenic" is because it's about the topic of endogenics, and if you actually read the post you would know that we wanted to learn more about why endogenics are a valid and very real thing. Not once did we say it was a safe space.
And yes, we realize that some of the things we said were wrong, and we apologize. Again, we have no bad intentions, we just want to help people. We will no longer be responding to anything from this post or anything related to it since not only has it gotten old, but it has created a lot of stress for us too. -Susie
realizing that we're "anti-endo" just because we want to protect people.
this is a very serious disorder that impacts so many people. we no not want people to have this disorder because it stems from abuse and trauma before you even understand who you are or even consider thinking about who you are.
it's okay to not remember the trauma because well, its trauma. and this disorder is designed to make you forget stuff like that. we were lucky enough to remember why this all happened, what caused it, etc. so yes, its okay to not remember what happened.
what's not okay, however, is spreading the idea of "endogenic systems". why? well a few reasons.
lets say someone "identifies" as an endogenic system. what if they don't have a dissociative disorder, but something similar, like psychosis. they think that their delusional attachments are alters, making them believe that they are those people/characters. this becomes a problem, because this can make their condition worse.
now what if they don't have a dissociative disorder or anything of the like? this becomes a huge problem. they start having identity issues, they have no idea who they are, who they will be, who they ever will be, and causing a downward spiral until they just can't take it anymore or get some sort of professional help.
now lets say they do have a dissociative disorder. they don't remember their trauma or even deny that they do. first off, read the 3rd paragraph again. this disability is literally designed to make you forget. but then they start spreading the idea of systems "without trauma" exist, and thus make others hurt themselves in the process (like the last two paragraphs) while meaning well. mot only does this only repeats the process, but now they cannot face their traumas, get professional help, and potentially break down communication and amnesiac barriers and heal as a whole.
this is why so many systems and people are so against the idea of endogenic systems. we do not wish hate or war. we only want to help and protect those that need it.
but if anyone has any information on reasons why endo systems DO exist and DO help people from a RELIABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION, please send it to me, and i will read it. this will be the only time i will allow my DNI to be broken. /srs
edit: and please, keep a civil and open-minded discussion. we are doing are best to be that way, so we expect you to act the same.
also, the reason we get so defensive over things like this is because we are trauma survivors. unfortunately a lot of people don't act the way they should because we are tired of people getting misconceptions and misinformation baded on something we suffer through daily. being mentally unstable just does that.

To a very large majority of the pro-endo community: I feel as if my words and actions would be taken more seriously and would be more accepted if I simply identified as a possessed individual.
Had I entered syscourse as a possessive system, or at least calling myself one, would my words be taken more seriously on topics like plurality? Because when I was in endo spaces - and in certain endo spaces I’m in currently - I feel like my words are passed over as “just for CDD systems.”
I have trauma. I have a disorder. And a lot of the time, it feels as though pro-endo spaces I join naturally shy away from that topic.
A person experiencing heavy exomemories is “exomemory trauma,” and my words as a DID system, shouting about how they may need to escape the trauma they’re experiencing IRL for those exomemoroes to calm down, are ignored.
A person experiencing hallucinations is a hallucinogenic system — and my words as a DID system, shouting about how hallucinations can sometimes be part of DID but should also be examined with other symptoms in light in the case of something more dangerous occuring… are ignored.
If I were simply possessed, would my words matter more to you?
