and my academic-with-a-special-interest-in-charms-placed-in-household-liminal-spaces ass is over here like

Wreaths, bunches of flowers, charms, souvenirs of special significance, religious items, etc. On the door, beside the door, placed above the door, buried beneath the threshold... Even in your yard leading up to your house. Anything, really.

If you put something that you associate with some kind of religious/cultural/family tradition or protective significance at a point of entrance/exit to your home, my nerdy ass would love to know about it.

Is it year-round? Seasonal? Something only associated with specific events or holiday? Where did you pick this tradition up?

Headcanon prompt(s): You get sent by the council to help Alma and her children, you knew her from some other place and she has an itty bitty crush on you too, some random

The day you were set to come help Alma she got her wards all ready and lined up to meet you in the living room

She was more stern than usual that day because she wanted to make a good impression on you

"Children, we will have a Loop Helper coming for a few years, and I need all of you to be on your best behavior."

"Miss Peregrine, why do you look so flustered today? Will he be mean?"

"No, Claire, but we still need to be good."

Emma caught on really quickly to her crush on you and visa versa

The second you walk in it's all hugs

Alma looked a bit annoyed at your sudden sense of love in front of her children but yk she'll get over it

Abe giggled and Emma slapped him in the back of the head and then led him and the others away

"Leave them be, Enoch! It's not your business."

"They seem to be getting on well."

"Your mocking tone of voice says your not enjoying Miss Peregrine being happy. Why is that?"

Even whenever you've tried to bond with him by helping with clay figures or Venom trying to talk to him it didn't work.

Speaking of Venom, one day he comes out in front of the kids at dinner and just absolutely devours a raw steak or something and everyone's flabbergasted

after the world forgot Peter Parker's existence, Peter moves to Hell's Kitchen, gets a symbiote, and is surrounded by parental vigilantes?

Ever since Peter Parker got bitten by that radioactive spider at 14, everything, from his senses, to his strength, to his durability, has been enhanced. What Peter didn’t know is that his enhanced healing also comes with increased longevity. His cells are aging much more slowly. Thus, a freshly turned 18 year old Peter barely looks 16. Of course, Peter just assumes he has an extreme baby face. Still, when you legally don’t exist, and everyone forgot you even existed, it’s hard to acquire a place of residence for a decent job when he looks nowhere near adulthood.

It turns out the only place even willing to give him a shot and will accept the meager money he has for an apartment is the corrupt Hell's Kitchen.

Sure it’s no Queens, but Peter will do his best to help people out.

All he has now is Spider-man. The world doesn’t need Peter Parker, after all.

So, when an isolated Peter comes across some sentient black goo who gives Peter company. He doesn’t really have it in him to complain. Plus, his new black suit is sick!

Now, if only Daredevil and even the Punisher (and about every other vigilante Peter sees) would just leave him to do his patroling alone and stop trying to be friends (it feels more like parenting, really) with him.

i think before ds9 ended ezri shouldve experienced some weird time wormhole shit that put her on voyager.

Venom does exist in Spider-Man(?) au!!!

Oscorp labs exist in the au but Peter is obviously too young to have any real connection there. Instead, there's a science center funded by Oscorp for younger teens/kids where the symbiote is displayed publicly before it's sent off for testing. A lot of the kids think it's lame and boring and Peter sympathizes with it for obvious reasons. It immediately forms an attachment as this kid is the only one to think it's cool and binds with Peter to try and "help" by making him act tougher and fearless, basically getting rid of his flight response.

Of course, things go wrong as usually sweet Peter Parker starts getting into fights at school and Spidey seems to be outright gunning it for villains. It culminates with Peter accidentally hurting Aunt May when she tries to reprimand him for this behavior (she believed he was acting out due to missing Uncle Ben) and running away for a bit as he grapples with almost seriously hurting his Aunt and the symbiote's affect over him.

Eddie Brock in this au is an older teen (Maybe 12-14) who officially works as an intern for the daily bugle. Eddie and Pete were close as Eddie used to babysit him over the summer and they were the youngest employees. He got jealous of Peter as somehow this kid is getting more notoriety and paid for pictures of Spider-Man while he's just the coffee boy.

Eddie, of course, notices this change in behavior due to the close proximity of him and Peter (He gives Peter the papers for his route and organizes the pictures of Spidey) and hopes to catch him messing up his route so Jamison fires him.

It leads them to the clock tower where the symbiote tries to make Peter believe he needs it by amplifying his fear response by showing him every time he was scared while crime fighting and when he found Uncle Ben shot and didn't know what to do. It almost works until Peter realizes he overcame all that and gets rid of it but not before it falls onto Eddie who figures out Peter's identity. The symbiote bonds to Eddie and influences him to fight crime to stay close to Peter.

Eddie initially tries to be Spider-Man but edgier (he's a teen boy what did you expect) but the symbiote amplifies his resentment for Peter due to longing to reunite and feeling betrayed. Venom is born after Spidey catches them getting too rough with a villain and tries to stop them, Venom goes on a tirade about Peter being lucky and vowing to act as the embodiment of chaos in Peter's life.

Since Peter can't exactly say why he and Eddie are no longer cool Eddie just constantly looms around acting as this boogie-man figure in Peter's life, ranging from a cruel prankster to outright homicidal (staging accidents to hurt Peter or his loved ones) while as Venom he sabotages Spidey by sharing weakness to Villians or outright attacking him. Either way, Peter is always looking over his shoulder and can never rest until Venom gets dispatched (tho never permanently)

thinking about what time lord trauma processing actually looks like in light of the fact that time lords are aliens who hit the reset button thirteen ten i forget how many times as a matter of course and can taste chemical makeup and see time. like. a brain that handles the level of data processing time lords do is fundamentally different from a human brain. and the doctor remembers Everything they don't try to forget/bury, so it's not just the in-the-moment brain functions that are different, it's long-term storage too. and there's an enormous semi-autonomous energy aspect to being a timelord that is linked to the memory and information processes (i don't remember the metacrisis thing too well but wasn't that 'the mind of a time lord' being pasted onto a human body but it was just donna getting blasted with the timelord glow, perhaps aka getting the energy aspect of a timelord stapled on without the hardware to run it). technophobia is an audio drama where ten shuts off his "higher brain functions" (likely referring to time lord senses & related brain functions) so canonicity is debatable but ten also managed his body processes willy-nilly (the arsenic, the tea for the regeneration gone wrong) so manually managing cellular processes is just. a thing they can do. also they're psychic which is a WHOLE nother kettle of fish.

whatever it is, i bet there's a manual aspect to memory and trauma processing for time lords and the doctor has Not been doing it. also the tardis has the potential to be an assistive device.

I kinda realized that in the next 10-15 years, it’s totally possible we could see all of the live action Spider Men having the Venom Symbiote.

We’ve already seen it with Tobey

Andrew is confirmed to be coming back for Venom 3 (pretty much at this point)

And knowing how much Tom has lost AND the post credit scenes in LTBC and NWH, he has a chance of fighting Venom/getting attached to the symbiote.

How epic would that be.

(Also because I’m a sucker for Black spider man suits, they’re really cool)

My first Millard thing because I forget about him a lot and wanted to get something out about him before I forget

Also I'll say it again sorry if Venom isn't very Venom or his lines are a little awkward because I'm just now rewatching the movie and I still don't have his personality down yet

I'm pretty proud of this so

Headcanon prompt(s): You can see Millard for some reason, and some randoms too

The first time you walked into the home and saw Millard you just thought he was a nudist

You were still confused about how the Peculiar thing worked so you just let it pass off as normal for a while because you thought it was just his peculiarity

I mean who would think having a symbiote would be more normal than being naked???

Certainly not you

One day you just let it fly at the table after he talks about being invisible that you can see him

"Wait, you're invisible?"

"Of course I am, M/N. You cannot see me."

"Oh, well I just thought you were a nudist for a while."

"Why did you never mention this? I've been walking around naked for birds sake!"

After this encounter he immediately started to put clothes on all the time

Before this though Venom has for sure laughed at him in your head

"That boy is naked, M/N. Is this house full of nudists?"

"No, I think it's just him. Maybe he gets hot around the house since nobody else seems to mind."

"I find it quite amusing."

After you and him get over the fact that you saw him naked around the house casually, you actually become pretty close

Once he sees Venom though (let's just say Venom hid out for a while and everyone was confused about ur peculiarity) he was mega intrigued

Venom took a liking to him over time but at the start of their unlikely friendship Venom thought Millard was annoying

Millard was excited to see a real life symbiote as he had read about them in one of the many peculiar history books he has

Millard basically asked every single question in the book

"So what is the parasite-symbiote's name?"

"Can't you just ask me yourself, nudist? You better apologize as well; I am no parasite!"

"Well, you grew into M/N's body as an alien entity, so by peculiar standards you are considered a parasite and a symbiote."

If you like maps then you (not Venom he doesn't give a shit about maps) work on them with him and look at all the maps he's collected

If you don't then you and Venom just watch with Venoms head sticking over your shoulder

" magic, obviously. " with a beckoning motion a tome glides out from a nearby shelf to come and flutter open just above her grasp. the pages turn on their own to a passage that the queen has deemed relevant to her interest, eyelids lowering in temporary concentration to pick something from its contents.

" 'lo these so called fields can nary be considered a pasture akin to that of the realm of light. no sustenance can be brought forth from their ashy soil, nor any light to bring our seeds to fruition-' blah, blah, blah... " with a derisive tsk the woman rolls her eyes, the pages flipping wildly to another passage, though she barely gives it a glance before a mordant smile creeps across her face.

" on it’s own the Twilight Realm isn’t particularly harmful, but living here without having been… let’s say, an ‘original resident’ wasn’t easy, " the still floating tome lifts along with her hand, a gesture to indicate why she had brought the apparent diary out. " if you didn’t adapt, you didn’t survive. simple as that. as the queen i have the honor of having access to these personal accounts… very few of which are pleasant, hehe. "

her snicker is equally as skewed as her expression, though its sharpest edges dull oh-so slightly when her gaze returns to the book. the once hard curl to her lips softens to hide her fangs, the sight of which had only offered a dangerous edge to her smile. despite her obvious derision towards it's previous owner, the twili seems incapable of maintaining disgust. or, perhaps, she has more history with this tome than one might automatically assume.

with a hum she finds something else that grabs her attention inside, but it's contents remain a mystery to all that do not hold it.

" but our ancestors were tenacious. what couldn’t be found was made, even if it was feeble. and over time their new home changed us as we changed it. " her other hand lifts so that a finger may trace something across the book's pages, as if following a line to one side to the other, dipping occasionally to follow a possible turn or curl. once it reaches the other side, the corners of the queen's mouth lift again, though it lacks the severity of it's earlier iteration.

the hand below closes, and with it the book snaps shut with a slap of finality.

" of course, all of that took place a long time ago. not that light dwellers would find our home unpleasant, but we twili have made the most of our realm, and it to us. "
