Michael Kelso x reader
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: michaels reputation
Author’s Note: steven supremacy but kelso could be kinda cute too lmao. I hope you like it love!
Requested: by anon, I'm the anon who requested Kelso x reader. I thought of something like, set in the beginning of s6 after Kelso helps Jackie and Hyde get together the reader being the cool girl in school (around Jackie's age) and she's really smart and has a bubbly/nice personality. She starts hanging out with the group (maybe because of Jackie? Idk she could be her friend first) and despite his reputation, she's friendly to him. He really likes her and hanging around her motivates him to review his attitude. She has feelings for him but does NOT want to fall for him because of all the things the group says about him. He's aware of this, and does everything in his power to prove her he's different.
Endings up to you 🥰
You don't even have to use everything in the prompt, I just really like the idea of him trying to be a better person, and I would like to read about the whole 'Michael wants a girl but the group is blocking him out of worry for their friend so he has to show he's a better person'.
And he's also not my favorite but I think he's super sweet in s3 and s4 and with the right amount of character development could be a thoughtful boyfriend
Thank you so much love ❤❤
Summary: the request
Genre: fluff
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director
(not my gif)
Jackie ran up to you before school even ended. She had just gotten this new outfit she was wearing (at lunch because who actually went to school anyway) and wanted to show you. You walked out of your class holding your books tight to your chest, surprised to see a small girl rushing toward you.
“Look at these boots!” she said and squealed a bit. She showed them off to you and you nodded, giving her a flashy smile.
“They look great Jackie!” you said because they really did. You were pretty sure Jackie could pull off anything she wanted to. You started walking to her car together and she flashed the keys, as she often did. They dangled from her fingers.
“I’m going to Formans, you wanna come?” she asked.
“And hang out with your whole group? I don’t know if that’s a great idea Jackie, you all seem pretty close,” you told her honestly. You had seen everyone around school and they seemed nice enough but they were always together. Through Jackie you had found out that they pretty much exclusively dated each other too. You just never thought you would fit in with them.
“They’ll love you! They’ll love you regardless because I love you and I have good taste,” she said, starting her car. You pursed your lips and thought about it for a second. You didn’t wanna be stuck there. You supposed your house wasn’t that far away from Eric’s, you could probably walk if you really needed to. Plus maybe they will like you.
“Okay I guess.”
“Wonderful! Some things you should know,” she started, in her gossipy voice, “don’t mind what Fez says Donna and me just ignore it. If Michael tries to flirt with you, ignore him.”
“I have Michael in my english class, he seems nice,” you said. You knew his reputation and what he had done to Jackie but she was mostly over it.
“Don’t even think about it. I’m not going to let him have his grabby hands all over you. I escaped that and now I’m with Steven thank God,” she muttered. You nodded.
“I’ll keep it in mind.”
=====
When you arrived, Jackie introduced you to everyone there. Overall everyone seemed to like you or they were indifferent to your presence.
Donna told you the second you arrived that if Kelso tried to flirt with you you should ignore him. He wasn’t there the day you went because he had been in detention but you ran into him the next day at school. He sat next to you in english class.
“You’re Y/N right?” he said. You raised an eyebrow. You had assigned seating and you knew he wasn’t assigned to sit next to you. Class hadn’t started yet though so you supposed he had time.
“Yeah,” you said carefully. A dumb smile went over his face and he moved his hair to the side.
“I’m Michael Kelso. I heard you met my friends,” he said.
“Yeah I did,” you said. “They were really nice.” He nodded, that smile still there on his face. You gazed at him for a second, into his eyes. They looked almost completely blank. They reminded you of puppy eyes.
“Yeah they are nice aren’t they.” He looked up at the teacher who was about to get the class started.
“No offense Michael but they all told me I shouldn’t talk to you,” you said, adding a little laugh to try and ease up your words. He nodded.
“I figured. Don’t listen to them though.”
“I want us to be friends.” You put your hand up and he shook it, very happily. “But just know I’ve been warned.” He nodded aggressively .
“Noted!” The teacher pointed at Michael.
“Kelso! Back to your seat.”
=====
“I don’t know why you told her not to talk to me,” Michael said as he sat on the couch arm. He crossed his arms. Donna and Eric were sitting on the couch beside him, Fez on the chair to his left and Hyde and Jackie on the chair to his right. You were sitting on the other couch arm.
“We didn’t say that,” Donna corrected.
“All we said was that if you tried to flirt with her, we would collectively put an end to it,” Eric finished.
“Yeah Kelso man, you can’t flirt with everyone who walks through those doors,” Hyde concurred. Fez smiled.
“Not like me,” Fez said.
“Yeah well that’s just part of your personality,” Donna said, laughing a little bit. Michael opened his mouth in amazement.
“It’s part of my personality too!” he yelled.
“Just face it Michael. You’ve messed with too many,” Jackie said, head held high. You laughed a little bit. Michael turned to you.
“I will get you to like me. Even if I have to be good to do it.” You shrugged.
“Michael-” you started but he cut you off.
“No. I will.” He said. You shook your head a bit and leaned back. Donna looked up at you.
“Don’t worry about it,” she said honestly and you believed her. You had to admit, you had a lot of fun with these people. Guess that was why they were so close all the time.
===
Michael kept his promise that he would get you to like him. He spent the whole week doing small things for you here and there, trying to make sure that you noticed him. Sure, after he gave you the flowers and you thanked him he bragged about how good of a guy he was, but he was really trying.
Michael barged into Eric's basement and almost fell over doing it. He was pleased to see that only Eric was home, watching TV and flipping through a magazine. He looked up at Michael, uninterested and then back at his magazine.
“I think I’m in love,” he whispered. Eric scoffed.
“Didn’t you say that about Jackie?” he asked.
“Maybe.” There was a pause where Michael tried to retain the information but he came up empty. “I don’t know. But I mean it this time.” He sat down aggressively on the chair to the left of Eric. Eric finally closed his magazine and looked up.
“You barely know her.”
“I know her plenty!” he exclaimed. “We have english together and she’s so smart. She’s so nice to me!” He said that last part with a whisper scream. “And she hasn’t given in yet. She’s got stubbornness.”
“Got stubbornness?”
“You know what I mean!” Michael shook his head and Eric saw his expression grow serious which was very very rare in the case of Michael Kelso. “I feel excited when I see her and when she smiles at me it makes my stomach feel…” He put his hands up and waved them aggressively in demonstration. Eric leaned back in his chair.
“Well dang. Never thought I’d see the day.”
“Me neither!”
“Do you think she likes you?”
“Not now that you’ve all told her I suck!” Michael shook his head, defeated. “So stupid.” Eric laughed a bit.
“You can’t blame us. If you want her, go and get her.”
===
Michael held a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He had used the last of his money for the week buying them and still wasn’t all that sure if you would like them. He didn’t expect the nerves that came with trying to ask you out. Usually if someone rejected him (which was rare, he liked to point out) he could move on quickly. He didn’t want you to reject him.
He walked into english class and you were already there, sitting at your desk, flipping through the assigned book. He took a deep breath and took the strides over to sit beside you. You looked up at him and gave him a small polite smile.
He took one more breath and then brought the bouquet out from behind his back. Your eyes went wide at the size of it.
“Would you pretty please go on a date with me?” he asked. You took the flowers from him and for a moment was stunned that he had actually asked. The flowers were truly beautiful.
You met his eyes.
“Yes Kelso I will go on a date with you.” He fist bumped the air aggressively and you laughed a bit, trying to ignore that he was making a big scene. He turned to you with a big smile.
“You won’t regret it.”
“You better not make me.”
“Kelso!” The teacher called, pointing his pen at Michael. “Get back to your seat!” they hissed. You laughed a little bit as he shook his head.
“I’m very comfortable right here,” he pointed out.
“Kelso.”
“Alright alright.” He turned to you as he got up. “I’ll see you at Forman’s basement tonight. You nodded.
“Yeah.”
“They’re never gonna believe it.”
“Jackies gonna scream,” you said. He shrugged.
“Let her scream. I think I won this one.”

i wonder if you might do a story on river/13 going to a gay bar in space and they meet a bunch of previous companions/friends there too? (definitely jack for sure!) thanks
Okay first off, I love this prompt!! And it’s perfect for Pride month! I may, however, have taken some liberties and gone a bit bigger than a simple gay bar.... anyway :D I set out to write the gayest thing you’ll read all month... I hope I’ve succeeded! Happy Pride!
Invitation With A Kiss
“So what is this place, Doc?“ Graham asked as they made their way to the door of the TARDIS.
“Had an invitation!“ The Doctor retorted with a grin double-checking her psychic paper to make sure she had the right place and time.
“Who from?“ Yaz asked curiously.
“Ah, well, you know…“ The Doctor tried to wave it off but Yaz was quick enough to snatch the psychic paper from her fingers before she could try to hide it.
“Signed with a kiss?“ Yaz gaped and a wide grin spread across her features. Finally something to truly wind their friend up with and Ryan smirked as well:
“You sure you want us to tag along?“
“Oh, shut up, it’s not exactly a private party.“ The Doctor huffed trying to hide the blush that crept onto her cheeks. Quickly, she opened the door before any of her friends could comment and stepped outside.
“Oh wow, I don’t think I have words for this…“ Yaz started laughing as she joined the Doctor. They found themselves at the side of a most colourful parade. There were rainbows EVERYWHERE! Balloons, confetti, flags, people were dancing, hugging, kissing, having the time of their lives. “Please tell me this is…“
“Planet Pride.“ The Doctor grinned and put her hands on her hips as she took in the atmosphere. It was elating. There was a mild breeze that carried music and exotic smells, the sun was blazing down but not unpleasantly and the joy surrounding them was almost palpable. “Think of your 21st century Pride celebrations, multiply it by, I don’t know, a whole galaxy celebrating togetherness and inclusivity, and you get the greatest queer party this side of the universe.“ The Doctor turned to her friends who were still in awe.
“Isn’t this like… the future?“ Yaz finally found her voice and looked to the Doctor who was surprised to find concern in her eyes: “Is there a need for Pride still? Like I would have thought the issue would long be resolved and…“
“Oh it is, don’t worry!“ The Doctor grinned as she understood what she was getting at. “Doesn’t erase the past though. It’s part of the history of humankind… very sad, pointless, stupid part, but history nonetheless. Can’t and shouldn’t erase history, else you can’t learn from past mistakes… But let’s face it, Pride is brilliant. By this point it’s just an excuse to have one hell of a party.“ She pushed her hands into her pockets and they started walking down the street.
“This is brilliant.“ The Fam quickly found themselves accessorised by strangers, flower garlands and all sorts of amusing party hats were being passed out.
“Who’s the invite from, then?“ Ryan asked as they quickly caught up with the Doctor who was looking around the sea of people, clearly searching for someone.
“My wife.“ The Doctor answered knowing full well that there was no way she could keep it from them. She stopped and gnawed her bottom lip as she scanned the crowd. Where was she? Like she stood a chance of finding her amongst all these people…
“Your what now?“ Graham’s face fell and he nearly ran into her.
“Wife.“ The Doctor retorted matter-of-factly looking back to her friends. “We’re here to celebrate Pride, remember?“
“Yes but… you’re married?!“ Yaz exclaimed and carried on teasingly: “Who would agree to that?!“
“Well, we have always wondered that at one point or another…“ A voice sounded behind them and they all whirled around.
“Jack!“ The Fam exclaimed in unison as Captain Jack Harkness saluted with a grin.
“Hello, Doctor.“ He scooped the Doctor up in a tight hug who squeaked as the air was pushed from her lungs. “Fancy seeing you here! Are you ready for a party?“
“Hello Jack.“ She managed as she tried to extricate herself from his arms. “Bit too much to drink already?“ Jack ignored her comment and turned to the Fam, extending his arms.
“Ryan. Yaz. … Graham.“ He winked at Graham who blushed a little. Jack’s flirting was not lost on him or anyone else for that matter. “Missed me?“ He grinned. “Did you come here to see me?“
“While I knew you’d be here, no, not exactly.“ The Doctor retorted, trying to let him down gently.
“Well, that’s just as well.“ Jack huffed, trying not to look too offended. “I’m here with a Doctor of my own anyway. Though I seem to have lost him… and Donna just keeps trying to pass me drink after drink so…“
“You’re here with me? And Donna?“ The Doctor’s eyes widened in shock.
“There’s another version of you here?“ Yaz asked, utterly confused. The Doctor had told them plenty of times about how she had been a different person before and how Time Lords could regenerate their body, but they had never actually seen proof of it.
“And I don’t remember it… timelines crossing…“ The Doctor realised running her hands through her hair nervously. There was potential for disastrous chaos here.
“Doctor?“ A voice called and they all looked around. The girl that had called out wasn’t looking at them though, she was scanning the crowd and turned to another girl whose hand she was holding. “He must be here somewhere, that’s his TARDIS over there.“ They were searching for the Doctor too.
“Well, I’ve got a Doctor here if you’re looking for one!“ Jack called out without thinking. He didn't know the girls but the look on the Doctor’s face revealed that she did. She was simply too stunned to respond just yet. The girls looked at Jack who waved with a wide grin. “I think you mean to say: Her TARDIS. Times change!“
“Bill…“ The Doctor finally found her voice again as she stared at her long lost friend. There she was. Brilliant, beautiful Bill Potts. Cyberman no longer, holding on to her girlfriend’s hand and shock painted all over her face as the realisation hit her.
“Oh my GOD!“ Bill exclaimed, frozen to the spot.
“And Heather.“ The Doctor was beginning to grin now and hurried over.
“You have to be joking!“ Bill was still in shock, she shook her head to herself as the Doctor came to a halt in front of her with the Fam and Jack following close behind.
“Hello Bill!“ The Doctor smirked, amused by how her brain was reeling. “What? Not even a hug?“ She chuckled as Bill was finally pulled from her stupor.
“I really don't think I should hug you…“ Bill found her voice at last as she looked her up and down. “Cause you’re like… dead hot right now…“ She glanced at Heather who just laughed. “But also, you’re my weird space grandpa! So come here!“ She pulled the Doctor in a tight hug laughing.
“Fam, this is my friend Bill and her girlfriend Heather.“ The Doctor introduced them all.
“Lovely to meet you.“ Heather smiled. “I have a feeling you will be seeing quite a few familiar faces.“ She told the Doctor with a knowing smile.
“Yeah, it’ll get complicated when you run into yourself…“ Bill grinned, amused at the very prospect of it.
“He’s here, too?“ The Doctor’s face fell. Things were bound to get even more complicated with two of her former regenerations around!
“Well yeah, we were looking for him, lost him somewhere along the way…“ Bill explained. “Oh God…“
“What?“ The Doctor frowned, alarmed at the dread in her friend’s voice.
“Quickly, hide!“ She pulled the Doctor and Heather behind a make-shift beach bar that served all sorts of colourful cocktails. The other’s mirrored their actions. While they didn’t know what was going on, it seemed like the right course of action.
“Bill, what…“ The Doctor started to protest but forgot where she was going with it when her eyes fell on two very familiar people, making their way towards the bar.
“I really don’t know why you insisted on coming here.“ Missy gave a huff as they came within earshot.
“Why not? It’s fun.“ Clara retorted, amused at the displeasure on the Time Lady’s face.
“I don’t see what’s so exciting about drawing rainbows on your face and parading around the street.“ Missy rather stood out in her almost completely black outfit.
“Humour me.“ Clara retorted, who - in her colourful waitress uniform - looked the complete opposite. “I’ll make it worth your while.“ She looped her arm around Missy’s.
“You better.“ Missy pursed her lips, looking to the girl at her side, then continued to scan the crowd.
“If you didn’t want to come, why did you?“ Clara asked and scoffed as Missy paid her little attention and kept looking around: “You’re hoping the Doctor will be here, aren’t you. And here I was thinking you actually wanted to spend time with me.“
“Doctor, who are they?“ Yaz whispered to the Doctor, struggling to follow what was going on. Those two women clearly knew her and the Doctor seemed to know them too as all colour had drained from her face.
“Doctor, what do you want to do?“ Bill whispered to her but she didn’t respond, she was transfixed.
“Don’t get me wrong, Clara, dear, I enjoy a booty call as much as the next Time Lady.“ Missy smirked, looking back to Clara. “Particularly one where my sweet little plaything is intoxicated on sweet drinks and self righteousness but if I just happen to run into the Doctor and get the opportunity to kill him, that would be a two birds one stone kind of scenario. Particularly if I get to mortally embarrass him by putting you in a rather compromising position first.“ Missy ran her fingertips along Clara’s jaw, pushing her head up a little.
“Right, that’s it!“ The Doctor exclaimed. “Clara!“ She called, marching out of their hiding place.
“Huh?“ Clara and Missy looked around confused, annoyed at the moment being so rudely interrupted.
“Oh God…“ Bill groaned and they all rushed after the Doctor.
“Sorry dear, this is a private conversation, pick a number and I’ll get to you in a sec.“ Missy gave a dismissive wave of her hand, refocusing her attention on Clara but the Doctor wouldn’t have it.
“Missy, get your hands off her right now!“ The Doctor threatened.
“Who’s this, Doctor?“ Yaz asked, hoping for an explanation.
“Doctor?“ Missy raised her eyebrows, her lips pulling into a smirk.
“Doctor?“ Clara echoed, surprised, excited and embarrassed in equal measures.
“What are you doing with her??“ The Doctor demanded to know off Clara as she wildly gestured at her nemesis.
“My my my, isn’t this some sight. Finally had the upgrade as well?“ Missy ignored the comment as she regarded her childhood friend’s new body. She snaked her arm around Clara and pulled her close to her side.
“Missy!“ The Doctor growled. “Get away from her!“
“Why?“ Missy feigned innocence and hurt. “She asked me here? She wants me here. You could even say she wants me .“ She gave a triumphant smirk and the Doctor flushed scarlet with embarrassment and anger.
“Clara, is that…“
“Uhhh…“ Clara blushed even more deeply than the Doctor herself.
“Does anyone else feel like they're slightly out of the loop?“ Ryan piped up, trying to make sense of the situation in front of them. For whatever reason, the Doctor was interrupting what looked like a perfectly consensual, happy date…
“This is the Master.“ The Doctor spat angrily. “Earlier version… don’t let the lipstick fool you, just as deadly.“
“Lipstick makes for a wonderful weapon, particularly in the right hands. Just ask your lovely wife.“ Missy retorted with a smile. “Where is she, by the way? You’re not here single , are you?“ She tightened the grip on Clara for emphasis.
“Missy!“ Clara slapped the Time Lady’s shoulder. “Come on, we’re all here to have some fun, can’t we just do that.“
“I can have fun with you anywhere I like.“ Missy smirked, moving her hand lower to the hem of her skirt, just enough to make the Doctor nearly lose it. “Fine. Alright.“ She let go of her. “Be a good little puppy now and fetch me a drink then.“ She smirked at the Doctor who balled her hands to tight fits, looking like she was about to burst. Missy laying her hands on one of her friends like that was just too much.
“Anyone else for a cocktail?“ Clara turned back to the group, hoping to move to conversation along to where she wouldn’t be mortally embarrassed in front of her best friend.
“I’ll help you carry.“ Heather volunteered quickly following Clara to the bar.
“So the Master used to be a woman?“ Graham exclaimed at last, when the situation seemed to have defused a little.
“Spoilers.“ Missy tutted at him.
“This is going to get very complicated with everyone here.“ The Doctor had to agree. “You can’t reveal anything about anyone’s future or we could be ripping space and time apart.“
“Yes, this is quite the explosive combination.“ Missy had to concede as she regarded the Doctor’s entourage. “Which begs the question, Doctor, what brings you here? Other than the rainbow candy floss?“
“River invited me.“ The Doctor shot back, almost too quickly, as if to make the point that Missy didn’t have one over in her.
“Well, she’s here somewhere…“ Missy smirked, delighting in the fact that she knew something the Doctor didn’t. “Busy though, really busy…“
“Busy?“ The Doctor frowned. She didn’t like the way Missy was saying that but she couldn’t help her hearts somersaulting just a little bit at the confirmation that her wife was here somewhere. She would get to see her again. It had been such a long time.
“Your bride dances at numerous weddings, as usual.“ Missy hummed just as Clara and Heather returned with colourful cocktails. “Thank you dear.“ She took a bright red drink that was unsettlingly reminiscent of blood and took the opportunity to press a firm kiss to Clara’s lips. “Oh I should start doing this to all your companions, the look on your face!“ Missy laughed at the Doctor’s expression. She looked like she was about to throw a punch. “Or, you know, your wife… now that would be fun.“
“Watch it!“ The Doctor growled threateningly.
“Wherever is Professor Song?“ Missy hummed in a sing-song voice and sip her drink in delight.
“Clara!“ Everyone looked around as two female voices chanted in unison.
“Oh hello!“ Clara recognised Vastra and Jenny immediately as they were heading straight towards them.
“More old friends?“ Ryan asked and the Doctor’s face brightened. It was hard to worry about the timeline when it was so nice to see so many of her friends.
“Vastra! Jenny!“ She grinned at them in greeting and while Jenny frowned, confused, her wife’s superior senses helped her recognise her immediately.
“Doctor!“ The lizard woman looked at her in shock. “Now that makes a change.“ She looked her up and down, surprised, but not unpleasantly. Jenny must have noticed the look on her face as she gave Vastra’s arm a playful slap.
“Oi! Married!“ She reminded her. “Hello Doctor.“ She carried on cheerfully and gave a wave to everyone else, who, with the exception of Clara, they didn’t know yet.
“It’s getting rather crowded, isn’t it.“ Missy pursed her lips shooting Clara a glance with the intention of getting out of there soon but her companion was more concerned with meeting the Doctor’s other friends, past and present. “Oi!“ She shot Jack a glare who was just putting his arm around Clara all too familiarly.
“Sorry, dear.“ Vastra gave her wife an appeasing smile and turned back to the Doctor. “We didn’t expect to see you, Doctor. At least not like this.“
“Don’t tell me.“ The Doctor groaned, sensing where this was going.
“We didn’t mean to interrupt, we just thought, when we saw Miss Oswald, perhaps she’d know where the Doctor was, a younger one, that is. Suspenders too, but bow tie…“ Vastra explained apologetically. They had lost the Doctor they had arrived with quite a while ago.
“Is that who you’re here with?“ The Doctor asked, wincing at the prospect of yet another version of hers running around this place.
“Following an invitation from your wife, as I understand it. He didn’t want to go alone.“ Jenny added.
“Where is he now?“ The Doctor asked, sensing where all this was going.
“That is a very good question.“ Vastra agreed and they all looked around, everyone scanning the crowd for their particular Doctors.
“I already have a very bad feeling about this…“ The Doctor sighed.
“Are you sure you want to find your wife?“ Missy snickered, highly amused.
“I would if I knew how.“ The Doctor huffed, as a cheerful voice carried over from the other side of the cocktail bar:
“That River Song really is something, isn’t she.“ Everyone looked around and saw a blonde pulling herself onto a bar stool, setting down a nearly empty glass.
“Don’t say it like that.“ A second woman, brunette with shoulder length hair, huffed as she climbed onto a stool beside her. The Doctor looked around to her friends, none of whom recognised the two women, with the exception of herself and Missy who pursed her lips with intrigue. Now there were two people she hadn't seen in quite some time.
“Like what?“ Helen laughed, twirling the straw of her drink between her fingers.
“Like you admire the woman…“ Liv answered, clearly not enjoying the conversation.
“You’re just jealous.“ Helen retorted playfully.
“Jealous? Of what? Don’t be ridiculous.“ Liv shot back a little too quickly.
“Then stop sulking!“ Helen grinned. “The Doctor is having fun, leave him to it. And let’s have some fun too! These cocktails are really good…“ She waved at the bar keep for another.
“And really strong, you sure you want another one.“ Liv couldn’t help but point out.
“Most definitely.“ Helen nodded full of enthusiasm and nearly fell off her stool. Perhaps she had had a little bit too much after all. Liv was quick to hold her up. “Thank you Liv, you’re the best you know that?“ Helen smiled happily and reached out to stroke her friend’s cheek.
“I try.“ Liv replied, blushing at the gesture and her friend pulled her forward into a tight hug.
“No really, you are…“ Helen held her tightly, nuzzling into the crook of her neck and Liv didn’t know what to do with her hands. She nearly fell off her stool herself but she didn’t want to pull back either, so she wrapped her arms around Helen’s shoulders, glad she wouldn’t be able to see her blush. Helen was completely oblivious to her discomfort, she just carried on mumbling: “You’re so kind and clever and brave and… so pretty…“
“I think you’ve had enough to drink…“ Liv pulled away, momentarily worried for her friend’s state but Helen wouldn’t let her go. Instead she grabbed Liv’s head and kissed her.
“I had money on that, you know.“ Missy smirked as the Doctor just watched, delighted and confused in equal measures. How had she never picked up on this when they were travelling together?
“Oh God…“ Helen pulled away when she realised what she was doing. But only after thoroughly snogging her best friend’s face off. She blushed deeply, her intoxication seemingly gone in an instant as sobering reality hit her. Liv blinked overwhelmed still, her heart nearly jumping out of her chest. “Sorry, I was just… getting carried away and…“ Helen stammered, letting go of her but this time it was Liv that wouldn’t let go.
“You can do it again… you know in the spirit of… or just because you want to…“ Liv bit her bottom lip nervously.
“I don’t know why I did that…“ Helen carried on stuttering until Liv’s words sunk in: “What?“
“Oh Helen… my beautiful, clueless friend…“ Liv shook her head and laughed.
“Sorry, I have no idea what I’m doing.“ Helen admitted, blushing scarlet.
“I do.“ Liv assured her more confidently and leaned in to kiss her again when Helen stopped her.
“Liv…“
“What?“ Liv’s heart sank, wondering if Helen had thought better of it but she realised her friend was stopped for another reason. She was looking past her and Liv noticed they had an audience.
“Oh, don’t stop on my account.“ Missy gave a wave of her hand when she realised she had been spotted. Of course, she was the only one Helen Sinclair and Liv Chenka would recognise. “Wasn’t sure where we were, timelines and all!“
“You again!“ Helen exclaimed and Missy sighed. Why were the Doctor’s friends always so stuck up on the past? So what if she had kidnapped and nearly killed her?
“I was hoping we would bump into you again, now I can finally…“ Liv was about to go for Missy but the Doctor quickly intervened.
“No, no, no, none of that!“ She held Liv back and Missy chuckled.
“Come on, Doctor, if Miss Chenka wasn’t to play, that can be arranged.“ Her eyes flashed dangerously.
“Missy! Timelines!“ The Doctor scolded. The time lines were already all messed up, without anyone losing their life before their time. Missy gave a shrug.
“Doctor?“ Liv echoed, looking at the blonde in front of her bewildered. She took a step back, accepting that maybe violence was not the right course of action right now.
“While I’m sure the Doctor is elated to see you two finally stopped doing that silly little I don’t know how she’s feeling about me - but what if she doesn’t like me - but she’s from the past - but she’s from the future - I can’t ruin our friendship dance of yours, she’d rather like to know where her wife is and you seem to know.“ Missy sighed, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“The Doctor?“ Helen repeated incredulously.
“Wow…“ Was all Liv could manage staring at the blonde and Helen, gripped by a wave of jealousy, hit her arm:
“Liv!“
“Not to interrupt the happy reunion or whatever but I think your search is over, Doctor.“ Jack announced and everyone looked around to where he was pointing.
“She didn’t just invite you, did she…“ Missy chuckled as they watched River push through the crowd accompanied by no less than thirteen Doctors, all of them competing for her attention and affection.
“She invited all of us, didn’t she…“ The Doctor sighed, realising that the same message she had received would have popped up on every other Doctor’s psychic paper as well.
“Go on then, Doctor.“ Jack put his arm around her slender shoulders and pulled her along. “Because if you don’t go over there, I might.“ He smirked. “Professor Song!“ He called before the Doctor could protest. River looked over to them, grinning, as she recognised Jack.
“Captain.“ She smirked flirtily as she sauntered over, while the other Doctors shot Jack annoyed glances.
“Think this is who you were looking for.“ Jack gave the Doctor a shove forward and decided that for once, he should be the wing man instead of going for the prize himself.
“Hello River.“ The Doctor managed a half smile and her feelings were incredibly conflicting. She was thrilled to see her wife; who looked beautiful in a flowing dress with the sun dancing in her curls. She was jealous that the other Doctor’s got there before her. And most importantly, she was annoyed: How could she have been so irresponsible?! All of space and time could rip apart if they put a foot wrong!
“My my my, now that makes a change.“ River smirked as she only took a moment to realise who she was. She stepped closer, looking her up and down far more obviously would have been necessary. The Doctor blushed and decided to go on the offensive to get herself out of the awkward situation:
“You know you will have to make them forget!“ She pointed to all her other selves. “This could end so badly!“
“Timelines will do that. Relax, Sweetie. None of you will remember a thing after crossing your own time stream. I can’t believe I’ve had to have this conversation fourteen times.“ River sighed but the expression on her face indicated that she had no problem repeating herself with her spouses. “Now, less sulking, how about a kiss for your old wife, hm?“ She smirked, grabbed the Doctor by the collar of her coat. She pulled her in for a kiss that quickly muted any sort of protest.
Just then, a confetti cannon went off, dousing the group in a rainbow of colours.
“Sorry, couldn’t help it.“ Missy grinned as the Doctor’s friends shot her accusing glances and she hid her sonic umbrella behind her back. “Anyway, I wonder if there are more versions of me about…“
The Doctor didn’t even notice. She was too occupied kissing her wife to the chorus of jealous calls from several of her past selves. She had missed her so much .

Picking Up The Pieces Part 1

Warnings- Hard times
You clutched your jacket around yourself a little bit tighter. It was the beginning of November and the weather was starting to get really cold in Lawrence Kansas. You were currently standing in line for a bed at the shelter. It was really long so there was a slim chance that you were going to get a slot tonight. Sure enough, after about 10 more people the man at the door said that was it for the night. You sighed and slowly turned walking to Donna’s Place.
The diner didn’t have that many people in it, just a young teenage couple and an old guy at the counter sipping on his beer. You sat at the counter and the waitress approached you for something to drink, which you shook your head no.
“I’m sorry, you have to order something to keep your seat.” She said with sympathy in her eyes.
“I understand. I’ll just have some water please.” You say quietly.
“Coming right up honey.”
While you waited for your water, you counted the few bills you had in your small wallet. You only had 23$ to your name. You’ve been in this predicament for quite some time now. When you turned eighteen your parents kicked you out because you didn’t want to be a doctor. Your family was all doctors and nurses, and they looked down on other people who didn’t have the same career.
That was three years ago, and you were now 21. You had a job at Burger King for a while, but the bills were piling up and you didn’t have enough money for rent so the landlord kicked you out. All of your family disowned you, and you had nobody else. You slept at the shelter when you could, but most of the time it was packed with people.
When you were able to stay you took your showers. Most of the time you took clothes out of the donation bins, and only bought granola bars or fruit so you wouldn’t run out of money. The money was getting low now, and you didn’t know what to do. You’ve been searching for jobs all over the place but nobody hired you.
You sipped slowly on your water, and stared at your hands. You ran your fingers through your hair and cursed to yourself at how greasy it was becoming. This was the second night in a row you haven’t been able to grab a bed so you haven’t showered.
You were aware that you probably smelt bad, and you sunk your head down, avoiding the stares of the two teenagers. The employees were staring at you like you were some kind of animal, and it was making you uncomfortable. The bell on the door indicated someone else was walking in.
You turned to look, and it was four guys. They were attractive, and you quickly looked away. You felt disgusting, and went into the ladies room. You wiped cold water on your face and looked at your reflection ashamed. Your hair was definitely greasy, and you had dark bags underneath your eyes from lack of sleep.
Your clothes looked wrinkly, and you tried to make yourself look a little bit presentable as you made your way back to your seat. The four guys were sitting in the booth closest to the counter, and you kept your head down trying to avoid eye contact. These four attractive guys didn’t need to see how ugly you were. You were hoping that they couldn’t smell you.
You felt someone looking at you, and you shyly looked up to see the most attractive man you’ve ever laid eyes on. He had the greenest eyes you’ve ever seen. He had light brown hair and a small amount of stubble. He was looking at you, and he gave you a small smile. You returned it, your cheeks flushed and looked away quickly.
You kept glancing over at him, and everytime you did he was looking at you. You couldn’t help but think he and his friends were making fun of you, and you tried to make yourself small.
“I’m sorry guys, we’re closing up soon.”
“No problem sweetheart, we’ll be out soon.” The green eyed man said.
“Okay.” You whispered quietly and she looked at you in sympathy again.
“Is there someone I can call for you? Somewhere that you can go?”
You shook your head no, and slowly got up out of your chair. You wrapped your jacket tighter around yourself as you walked out of the diner, but before the door closed you noticed him looking at you again.
You weren’t sure how long you were walking, but the low rumble sound of a car pulling up next to you broke your train of thought. You looked over to see a beautiful black car and sure enough the same man from the diner looking at you.
“Hey sweetheart. Do you need a ride somewhere?” He asked kindly and you shook your head no.
“No thank you, I’ll be home in five minutes.” You lie.
“Let me take you home, you’ll be there in 1 minute instead of five.” He shrugged and you shook your head again.
“That’s okay, but thank you so much.”
“I insist. My mother would slap me upside the head if she found out I let a beautiful young girl walk home at night. It’s dangerous out here sweetheart.”
He wasn’t letting up, and you sighed quietly before opening the passenger door, and sliding in quietly. He began to drive and asked where to go. You told him a random turn and luckily there was a motel there.
“Right there. Motel 99.” You say quietly.
“Okay.”
You looked in your wallet, and pulled out 5 dollars and tried to hand it to him. “This is for you.” But he shook his head rapidly.
“No no no. I don’t think so.” He said gently and pushed the money towards you kindly.
“Please take it. I insist.” You say quietly.
“No. It’s no problem at all. I’m just glad I got you home safe and sound. My pleasure.” He said sweetly and you gave him a small smile.
“Thank you, I appreciate it.” You reply kindly.
“You’re welcome. Have a goodnight.”
You walked into the motel, and there was a sketchy guy sitting at the front desk. “Hello miss thing. What can I do for you?”
“How much is it a night?” You ask.
“100 bucks.” You winced and looked to the ground.
“Thanks anyways.” You whisper and begin to walk outside.
“I can knock it down to fifty if you repay me in favors.” He said cheekily and your face scrunched up in disgust. “No thanks.” You say in annoyance and continue your way outside.
You walked along the dirt path, and you couldn’t help but let a tear slide down your cheek. You haven’t cried that much over your situation. You didn’t cry when your parents kicked you out and shunned you, you didn’t cry when your landlord kicked you out, you didn’t cry when you lost your job.
But if you were being honest this entire thing was beginning to take a toll on you. It was cold outside now, and the money was beginning to run out. Nobody was hiring, and you cursed to yourself about not applying to Donna’s Place earlier.
You were starving, and you desperately needed a shower. You were going to make it your mission to get a spot tomorrow night at the shelter. You arrived at a park, and took a seat on the bench. You were shivering, and you tugged your jacket close to your body.
You tried to make yourself comfortable and laid down shutting your eyes. Sleep was failing you, and you sighed softly before sitting up again. You decided to head back to the shelter. They were most likely going to say no, but you had to try to get a proper bed tonight.
You knocked softly on the door, and after a couple of minutes a man opened it up. “Can I help you?”
“H-Hi, I was wondering if you had any beds left.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t think we do tonight honey.”
“O-Okay, I understand.” You say with tears welling in your eyes. You began to walk away when he stopped you.
“I can tell you’re going through a really rough time. Listen, go to Harvelle’s Roadhouse. My wife and I co own it, and she’s got a couple of beds in the back. I’ll call her and let her know you’re coming. We’ve got a bed, a shower and she can make you something to eat.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure. It’s about a 10 minute walk, would you like me to drive you?”
“No, I got this. Thank you for everything.” You say quietly before walking in the direction he pointed you to.
Harvelle’s Roadhouse was in bold letters on the front of the building. You sighed before knocking on the front door softly. A middle aged woman opened it up. “Can I help you sweetie?”
“Hi. Your husband told you I was coming here?”
“Yes. Of course, come on in.”
You stepped inside, and she led you to the back. There was a small bedroom connected with a bathroom.
“There’s shampoo and conditioner for guests in the shower already, and there’s a sealed toothbrush with some toothpaste in the vanity. I can lend you some of my daughters clothes and wash the ones you have on now if you would like.” She said and you nodded your head gratefully.
“Are you hungry? I can whip something up for you.”
“Please.” You whispered.
“What can I make you?”
“Anything.” You whispered and she looked at you with sympathy.
“Coming right up honey.”
You stood in the shower for a really long time, and you felt so much better when you got out. Your hair felt fresh, and you were able to shave parts of you that you haven’t been able to attend to in a while.
You dried yourself off, and slid the sweatpants and tank top over your body. You were grateful to everyone who’s been nice to you tonight. Nobody has been this nice to you in such a long time.
She entered the room with a bowl of soup and some crackers. “I figured you should take it easy on your stomach, it’s been a while since you’ve had a proper meal huh?” She asked and you looked away shameful.
“Hey..my name is Ellen by the way. What’s yours?”
“Y/n.”
“Beautiful name. Is there anyone I can call for you? Parents?”
You shook your head no, and she looked at you with sympathy.
“Well, I’ll let you eat your food, and then you need to get some rest.” She said gently and you nodded gratefully.
“Thank you ma’am.” You say quietly and she smiled at you.
“Call me Ellen, and you’re welcome sweetie. Sweet dreams.” She says as she leaves the room.
You ate like you’ve never eaten before, and you were out like a light within minutes. You woke up the next morning and your eyes widened at the time. 5:00 in the afternoon!?
Ellen folded your clean clothes on the bottom of the bed, and you quickly dressed yourself. You were about to run out the front door before she stopped you.
“Hey, where are you going sweetie?”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sleep all night and all afternoon here. Thank you so much for everything you and your husband did for me. I’ll be out of your hair in no time.”
“Wait wait wait, y/n you can stay, let me help you get back on your feet,-”
You cut her off but shaking your head. “I’ve been doing this for a long time. But thank you so much again.”
Before she opened her mouth, you were out the door. You appreciated everything she did, but you felt like you overstayed your welcome. You decided you were going to apply to Donna’s Place as a waitress. You would sleep at the shelter at night, and you would save up until you could afford an apartment.
The bell rang as you entered the diner, and it had a little more people than it did the night before. You looked to your left and the same four guys were sitting in the same spot. The green eyed man smiled widely, and you gave him a shy one back.
“Hey sweetheart! C’mere!” He said and you felt your cheeks burn.
You approached them slowly, and smiled shyly at the other three attractive men and they returned it with grins.
“This is Benny, Cas, and this is my brother Sam. Guys, this is...I’m sorry I don’t think I caught your name.” He says sheepishly.
“Y/n.”
“The beautiful mystery girl you drove home last night?” Cas teased and you smiled softly and your cheeks turned pink. You were shocked to see that the tips of his ears turned pink.
“Yes. This is her. I’m Dean. I’m sorry I didn’t formally introduce myself last night.” He said again and you shook your head.
“That’s okay.”
“Why don’t you have a seat with us?” He asked but you shook your head.
“Thank you, but I’m actually here to apply for a job.”
“Oh, that’s okay.” He said a little disappointed.
“Hey, my wife said you took off this morning. You know you could’ve stayed as long as you needed to.” A voice said next to you and you looked up to see Bill staring at you.
“U-Um yeah, I told her thanks but I’ll be okay.” You say quickly hoping he would change the subject.
“If you want a spot tonight, I can arrange that for you.” He says kindly and you give him a small smile.
“I would appreciate that, thank you.”
He just nodded and walked away and you slowly turned to look at the four men with confused looks on their faces.
“Y/n..Bill runs the homeless shelter.” Dean says and you could feel your face burn with embarrassment. “I thought I brought you home last night?”
“Well, not exactly.” You said hoping that the ground swallowed you up. “L-Look, I don’t want to talk about this. Enjoy your dinner. And thank you again for last night.” You say kindly and turn around walking to the counter.
As you were filling out an application you felt a warm hand place itself on the small of your back. You looked up into Dean’s green eyes and he was looking at you filled with sympathy.
“Listen, I know you don’t know me that well. Not at all actually. But I do know that you’re clearly going through a rough time, and if you ever need someone to vent to I’m here for you.” He says sweetly and you smile at him.
“Thank you.”
“They’re always hiring here. You should definitely get the job.”
“I hope so.” You say quietly.
“So I really don’t mean to pry, but you don’t live at the motel?” He asks and you shook your head.
“No. I’m sorry I lied to you. I was embarrassed.” You say.
“Don’t be. I promise I’m not judging you.”
“I don’t have a home. I stay at Bill’s shelter whenever there is a free bed. The past two nights in a row I wasn’t able to get a bed and last night I felt at my lowest point and I was desperate. I stayed at Harvelle’s Roadhouse and Ellen was very nice to me. She offered me to stay there but I’m just trying to get a job so I can get back on my feet and find myself an apartment.”
“It’s okay to ask for help every once in a while you know.” He said quietly.
“I know. But I’ve been on my own since I’ve been eighteen. I can handle it.”
“Listen, I know you don’t know me at all, and I know this sounds absolutely crazy..but stay with me.”
“What? No.” You say quickly.
“It’s okay to ask for help y/n. You’re going through a hard time and I want to help you. Let me be your friend. Let me help you get back on your feet.”
“Dean..even if I said yes I don’t have a job. I can’t help you with rent. I can’t help with groceries.”
“And that’s completely okay.”
“No, I can’t agree to that Dean.”
“Listen. If you get hired here, then stay with me. Save up a little bit, and if it means that much to you we can split everything. Okay?”
“Okay.” You say softly.
The owner Donna was thrilled when you applied and your availability was anytime everyday. There was only her with three other waitresses. Claire, Alex, and Kaia. She said you could start right away, and all the tips you got were yours. Your first shift began at 10:00 tomorrow morning.
You were embarrassed that you didn’t have anything to bring with you to Dean’s house. Just the clothes on your back. He could tell that you were ashamed, but he didn’t push you to talk.
“Listen y/n..if you want I can bring you to the mall. Pick out whatever you want.” You shook your head.
“I can’t do that Dean.”
“I insist sweetheart. Please.”
“Alright…” You sigh and he gives you a small smile.
“And then we can pick up bathroom stuff for you. I’m sure you don’t want to use my axe shampoo and cologne smelling deodorant and body wash.” He chuckled and you giggled quietly.
“Okay Dean. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
At the end of it all, you felt terrible for how much Dean was spending on you. He bought you all the bathroom products you needed, along with a bunch of clothes. He even bought you makeup.
He pulled into his small house, and you helped him carry everything inside. You placed everything on the kitchen counter and you looked up at him with tears welling in your eyes.
“Thank you Dean.”
“Hey...stop it. Don’t you do that to me.” He said as he pulled you gently into his arms and you buried your face into his chest. It’s been a long time since somebody hugged you, let alone be this nice to you.
He was rubbing his hand up and down your back. “Listen, I’m always here for you. I want to get to know you. You’ve been through tons of crap and I can’t even imagine. You deserve better than what the world has done to you. Let me be there for you. Let me take care of you. You deserve to be happy.”
“I’m crap Dean. You don’t know me. When you find out how shitty I am you’ll kick me out.” You sniffled.
“I highly doubt that, and you’re not crap. You need help, and there’s nothing wrong with receiving it. Now, I’m going to give you a tour, show you where the guest room is that’s now yours, and then you’re going to take a nice long hot shower, and I’m going to order us a pizza. You like pizza right?” You nodded against his shoulder.
“Good. Now let me show you around.”
He showed you around his small house, and for a guy it was neat and clean. Your room was really nice, and the walls were a nice beige color with a queen size bed in the middle.
You gathered up all your bathroom stuff along with your pajamas and shut the bathroom door. You showered, thinking to yourself that you’ve never met anyone as nice as Dean. When you finished you went out into the living room. Dean was handing the pizza guy money, and he turned around and smiled when he looked at you.
“Hey sweetheart. Do you feel better?”
“Yeah, much better.”
“Good. Want to watch tv?”
“Yeah sure.”
“Okay, make yourself comfortable on the couch and I’ll be right out.”
“Okay De.” You say softly.
“Hey..you okay?” He asks in concern.
“Yeah..yeah I think that everything is just sinking in you know?”
“Yeah..I understand.”
You ate together in silence, with Friends playing in the background. You felt Dean glance over to you every few moments, but you pretended not to notice.
“Are you excited for your first shift tomorrow?” He asked.
“I’m a little nervous. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a job.”
“You’ll do great. I go there every night and it’s mainly the same people who eat there. Everyone is super nice to the staff and the ladies get good tips. I believe in you y/n.”
“Thank you Dean.” You let out a small yawn.
“Are you sleepy?”
“Getting there.”
“Why don’t you head to bed? You need rest sweetheart.”
“Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”
“Here, I’ll walk you.”
He trailed behind you, and you gently hugged him before entering your room. “Thank you for everything. You’ll never know how much I appreciate it.” You whisper to him and he held you tighter against his body.
“You’re welcome y/n.”
You crawled into bed, and moaned softly at the memory foam mattress. It was so soft, and you felt your eyelids droop instantly as you became more comfortable.
After Dean finished another episode, he shut the tv off and locked up. Before he went into his room he quietly checked on you and he smiled at the sight of you snuggled into the mattress. You were wrapped up in the covers like a cocoon, and he felt his heart swell.
You were such a sweet and beautiful girl. He wasn’t sure what happened to you for you to end up in the position you were in, but he was a patient man and he was going to be there for you and pick up the pieces.

Read on AO3
She’s six years old and she’s just won a certificate for Maths.
Her mum’s sitting at the back of the assembly, exchanging whispers to the single dad sitting next to her. Rose keeps looking back, trying to catch her eye, but instead watches her mother’s hand sneaking up a strange man’s thigh.
The headmaster smiles at her strangely, in a way she will later define as ‘condescending’ but in the moment she can’t wrap her head around.
“Well done, you clever girl.” He says, and Rose hates it. His clammy hand engulfs hers and Rose just blinks as he shakes it up and down.
The school claps dutifully and her mum is still not looking at her.
She’s eleven years old and she hates everyone in her class. They tease her in the playground, mock her in the classroom and the only safe haven is the tiny library. The librarian is old and odd, and she strokes Rose’s hair like she’s nothing more than a tiny doll.
“Don’t try so hard to be clever,” she tells her. “They’ll leave you alone.”
Rose leaves the library and never comes back.
She’s fifteen years old and GCSEs are utter bullocks. Mickey has already failed them all, already told her they don’t matter in the real world. She stays behind after school to sit in empty classrooms to figure out algebra and tells her mum she still does gymnastics.
She gets her results in a thick brown envelope and takes a quick glance at a long list of A’s before she chucks it in the bin.
“Pure shit.” She tells her mum. “Didn’t even try, anyway. I’m just not clever enough.”
Her mum throws her a party regardless, and Rose ignores the ache in her chest.
She’s seventeen and he’s fucking hot.
She’s told her mum she’s doing A-levels because she hasn’t figured out if she wants to do hairdressing or childcare. Instead, she doodles equations on the back of English papers whilst she waits for everyone else to finish.
She meets Jimmy outside the school gates and he’s smoking cigarettes and the smell gets right into the back of her throat. She tells him that it’s bad for him, and he tells her he could be bad for her. He’s right.
She drops out of school and her mother approves because it was giving her airs and graces. What her mother does not approve of is the filthy bedsit she moves into, where she cries as her boyfriend screams at her.
“You think you’re clever, do you?” he yells, and she shakes her head and whispers no, no, never.
She’s nineteen, fucking shop window dummies are after her, and a strange man is standing with her in the lift.
“’Cos to get that many people dressed up and being silly, they got to be students.”
“Good point. Well done.”
She’s wrong, but the praise bounces around her brain.
She runs off with him because apparently, that’s just what she does. Runs off with charismatic men, leaves her mother worried sick, because she is Rose, and Rose is not clever.
This man, however, is no Jimmy. He’s smart – so smart, any small attempts at intelligence still leave her feeling dumb. This is a comfort. She argues with him, thinks around him, and starts to feel a bit better about herself.
He’s sweet as well, and kind, and doesn't care when she asks too many questions. He shows her how to strip wires and repair parts of his precious ship, and they tinker away together in comfortable silences. Now and then, she properly impresses him, and he ignores the beauties of the universe and beams at her instead. It’s strange and wonderful and she tries her best not to disappoint him.
Then she is sent away, he is trapped, and it’s time for her to use her bloody brains only she’s not sure they even work anymore. He is dying, far in the future, but still dying, and she is watching her mum scoff down chips. She doesn’t want to go back to her old life, doesn’t want to play stupid anymore.
“Why, because you’re better than us?”
No, because she has learned what life is like when she tries, and she is not yet ready to stop.
She makes it back, using her brain and a fucking massive truck, and it is worth it if just for the way he is looking at her. He tells her she is fantastic and then explodes into a whole new man, with a lankier frame and wilder hair. He takes a long nap, and she is left to be useless once more.
She stands up in front of actual, breathing monsters and tries to copy words she’s heard, but her voice shakes, and her hands are trembling. They laugh at her, and she is eleven again, being teased by the nasty girls in her class.
He saves the day, because that’s just what he does, and she runs off with him again because his smile is still kind and their hands fit nicely. Cassandra sits inside her brain and hums with curiosity, poking around her mind like it’s a mildly interesting boutique.
“Not as thick as you seem, are you?” She whispers into Rose’s mind.
She’s inside some sort of spaceship and he is gushing over the accomplishments of Reinette de Pompadour. She already knows all this, knows who she is, but he is enjoying the sound of his own voice, so she keeps quiet.
She watches him carefully, notices the lipstick marks around his face and the ridiculous angle of his collar, and stamps down the familiar feelings of jealousy rising within her chest.
It had felt like they were growing closer. Their hugs had been lingering, hands held tightly at any available moment. She had thought something was growing, something small and precious and good. Clearly, she was wrong.
Reinette dies, and Rose isn’t glad, not really, but she watches him carefully afterward and wonders. Wonders why he keeps her around if he even wants her there. She tries to ask, but the words die on her tongue.
She has almost let the feeling go when she meets her father, a man who does not know her and apparently does not care to. She calls him dad and he runs, leaving her crying and shaking and so very vulnerable. She wonders, afterward, why. Why no one has ever wanted her properly, why it feels like no one has even met her in the first place. She sobs into her mum’s shoulder and wishes she had told her about the GCSE results.
Maybe it’s a good thing, she thinks later, that she’s alone. She has no real connections that make her want to stay at home, no real relationships that don’t leave her mentally exhausted. He is her grounding point, her focus, and he doesn’t think she’s stupid, not really, but he doesn’t think she’s clever either.
She knows she loves him; knows she will spend the rest of her life pining for him. It aches, having so much unspent emotion coursing under her skin. Feels like she could explode and implode simultaneously. But his eyes are so soft, and he is so worth it.
“We’ll always be alright, me and you.” She tells him. He just stares into the sky glumly.
“There’s a storm approaching.”
She hopes for a bit of rain but instead gets a fucking earthquake.
She’s twenty-one, she’s in a different universe, and she’s absolutely fine.
“How are you doing?”
“Are you okay?”
“Speak to me, Rose, please.”
She doesn’t speak to anyone. Doesn’t even look in the mirror.
It’s hard to assign blame on a talking pepper pot, so instead, she blames herself. If she’d been stronger. Tried harder. Been cleverer.
She tells her mum this over a bottle of wine, and she just laughs.
“People like us aren’t clever, Rose. We’re survivors.”
She doesn’t want to be a survivor anymore.
She starts working at Torchwood. Starts sleeping at Torchwood as well. Pete gives her the job out of pity but is quickly astonished by the scale of the work she’s doing.
“You’re brilliant.” He tells her one night. Jackie scoffs.
“Brilliant? Hark at her.”
Rose ignores her. It doesn’t matter.
She sits through A-levels, and then university lectures, and then physics conventions with groups of boring boys who follow her like a bizarre squadron. She has a brother now, a tiny boy with eyes just like hers, and when she tucks him into bed, she whispers stories of the stars.
She creates a dimension cannon and brings it home to show Pete. He marvels over it whilst Jackie sniffs like she’s got a nasty cold.
“Just glorified jewelry. Face it, sweetheart. You’re stuck here with the rest of us. It’s time to get used to it.”
“Shut up,” Rose says, and she can feel her pulse banging away in her ears like a marching parade.
Jackie is spluttering, Pete’s eyes are wide, and Rose isn’t quite sure what she’s doing but she’s doing it anyway.
“I can do this. I am going to do this. So just shut up.”
She does do it. She flits around universes like students backpack around Europe, and it’s strangely healing to spend so much time by herself.
She meets tiny aliens made of glass who kiss through the refractions of light and hugs ginormous bear-like creatures who are surprisingly friendly and incredibly soft.
She searches for him, and it hurts and it’s hard but it’s also fantastic.
She gets through finally to a universe that should be right but is oh so very wrong. A red-haired woman screams at her, and Rose is finding it difficult to breathe.
“I'm nothing special. I'm a temp. I'm not even that. I'm nothing.”
“Donna Noble, you are the most important woman in the whole of creation!”
“Oh, don't. Just don't.”
She tells her mum about her GCSE results because she can’t stop thinking about it. Her mum stares at her for a long while and then looks down at her hands. Rose has never seen her mum speechless before, doesn’t like it, so she just nods and leaves.
She finds him, and the feeling rushes right from her toes to the top of her head. She has done it. After all the effort and pain, she has found him, and the uncurling pride is like nothing she’s ever felt before.
He gets shot and utterly ruins it, but the feeling lingers.
Her mum shows up at the worst possible time, but she is there, and she is looking at Rose so fiercely. When the situation calms down and they are safe, she pulls Rose into a tight hug and rubs her hands in circles across the small of her back.
“I’m so proud of you, sweetheart.” She whispers, and Rose quickly wipes her eyes on her shoulders.
She is dumped on the same beach she has had nightmares about for the last five years. She is left again, but this time she is left with a familiar man who whispers promises into her ear and holds her like she is something important.
He is looking at her like he’s hoping she might lead the way, and she knows how to do this now, knows how to think and plan and strategize. She kisses him on the cheek, watches the blush that spreads across his cheek, takes his hand, and leads him back to England.
She doesn’t take him straight back to the mansion, hates the idea of speech and silence in equal measure. Instead, she takes him to her lab, and he stares at her designs through startled eyes and stolen glasses. She fidgets in the corner of the room, and wraps her arms around her waist, waiting for his verdict.
He turns to her, whips the glasses off of his face and a look of quiet wonder spreads across his face.
“You’re brilliant.”
She squirms under his gaze, picks off an invisible bit of fluff from her jacket. He is still looking at her, and she tries her best to smile.
“Thanks.”
“No, seriously. These are so impressive.”
She’s still not sure what to do with the praise, but it warms her and fills all the cracked pieces of her soul with new and growing tissue. She kisses him, both because she’s not sure what else to do, and because she can, and he smiles against her lips. They break apart and he runs his fingers over her work, his eyes soft and curious.
“How did you do this?” He whispers, and something tender and precious burns gently in her chest.
“I guess I’m just clever.”

Summary: Jody needs back up on the hunt she’s on, and Sam and Dean aren’t going to be enough. She calls in Y/N Y/L/N, without knowing that Dean and Y/N can’t stand each other. Things come to a head during the hunt, words are said, and feelings are hurt, but something unexpected occurs. Something new with the promise of more, if they only give in to how they actually feel for each other. Based on this request: “Enemies to lovers. Jody calls in another hunter for back up. Her and Dean butt heads, can end however you want :)”
A/N: This was a request from @flamencodiva! I hope you guys enjoy it and please let me know what you think! :)
Dean pressed harder on the accelerator, the Impala flying down the highway. They were a few minutes away from the main part of town and would soon be meeting up with Jody. Sam was talking to her on the phone, before he hung up.
“Jody there already?” he asked, looking between Sam’s phone and the road.
“Yeah, she’s at the diner on Main Street. Apparently, she’s calling someone else in, too” Sam replied, putting his phone back in his pocket.
Dean frowned. “She say who?”
“No. Does it really matter?” Sam shrugged.
“Guess not” Dean said, rolling his eyes.
Soon, they pulled up and parked outside the diner. Dean led the way across the sidewalk into the diner. He glanced around the room, before they landed on Jody in a booth near the window. She smiled wide when she saw them, getting up.
“Jody” Dean smiled, as he hugged her tight.
“Good to see you boys” she said as she hugged Sam next.
“You didn’t bring the girls?” Sam asked.
“No, they’re at home working on their training with Donna. I would’ve called them in, but Patience isn’t quite there yet. Hence why I called you boys” Jody explained as she slid back into the booth.
Sam was next to the window opposite her, as Dean sat next to him.
“So, vamps, huh?” Dean said, as he glanced over the menu.
Jody nodded. “Whole lot of ‘em, too. Had to call for another hunter.”
“What, we’re not enough?” Dean grinned, jokingly.
Jody rolled her eyes playfully. “She’s good, saved our necks on a Vetala case two months ago.”
“Who is it?” Sam asked.
“Y/N Y/L/N” Jody replied, simply.
Dean dropped his menu and looked up at Jody. She didn’t just say Y/N Y/L/N did she? Jody noticed him staring at her and raised an eyebrow in question.
“What?” she asked.
“You’ve gotta be freaking kidding me” Dean muttered, shutting his eyes.
Jody looked at Sam and shrugged. Sam shook his head. “It’s no big deal, Jody. Dean and Y/N just have a bad history with each other. She’s a great hunter-” Sam explained but Dean cut him off.
“Yeah, if a great hunter steals your kill right from under your nose” he huffed.
Sam glared at him. “Man, would you cut it out? She saved your ass.”
Dean rolled his eyes but said nothing.
“Well, you better act civil because she’s here” Jody said, and jerked her head towards the door.
Dean turned back and saw Y/N walk in. She wore a purple shirt and dark blue skinny jeans, a dark brown leather jacket and her brown, scuffed up hunting boots. She may have annoyed him but damn, she was beautiful. She noticed Jody first and smiled, walking over. As she got closer, her smiled dropped.
Dean freaking Winchester was sitting at the booth, along with Sam. Jody mentioned other hunters coming in for this but failed to mention who they were. Just her luck.
She hugged Jody before she smiled at Sam. Looking at Dean, she watched as his green eyes stared at her intently, somehow angry and hot at the same time.
“Hey, Dean. How’s that leg of yours? You know, I never heard you say “thanks” for getting that wolf off you” she said, rubbing it in.
Dean huffed a bitter laugh. “I could’ve handled it, sweetheart.”
“Geez, I’m regretting this already” Jody mumbled. She clapped her hands once to get their attention. “Guys, can we focus.”
“Sure thing, Jody” Y/N said and sat down next to her, across from Dean.
“Alright, so I tracked the Alpha from Sioux Falls, to here. I followed him to a barn, 20 minutes outside of town. There’s ten in there; more than I can handle. They only hunt when things are busy in town, but tonight’s a curfew because of the killings. So, they’re not going to be heading out to feed. That’s when we get ‘em” Jody explained.
“Sounds like a plan” Y/N smiled.
Later that night, the hunters drove out to where the vampire nest was. They had checked into their motel earlier, except for Jody who said she would drive home that night back to Sioux Falls. As they were prepping, Y/N had felt Dean’s eyes on her the whole time. Every now and then, she’d look over and he’d look away. He was absolutely infuriating, and she just wanted to get this over and done with.
They parked their cars on the main road. There was a forested area that came before the barn, which would shield their cars from being seen. Y/N took out her machete, already sharpened. They walked through the dark forest, Jody and her at the front, with Sam and Dean behind them. They could hear rock music blaring from the barn. Stopping outside, Jody turned to them.
“Alright, Dean you’re with me. We’ll go through the back. Sam and Y/N will go through the front. We good?” she looked between them, especially Y/N and Dean.
“Yeah” Dean nodded, wanting to get this over with.
Jody and Dean went left and walked towards the back of the barn. Y/N followed behind Sam as they walked to the front. Sam looked back at her, a smile playing at his face.
“What?” she asked, quietly as they walked towards the entrance.
“Nothing” he shrugged. “Just wondering why you’re always trying to get under Dean’s skin when you could just admit you like him.”
Y/N scoffed. “You know, you may be a nerd about you’ve never been more wrong about this.”
“Yeah, sure” Sam chuckled to himself.
Y/N ignored as they reached the entrance. She peaked through the crack in the door and saw some of the vampires drinking and dancing to the music.
“Ready?” she asked, looking at him.
Sam nodded, raising his machete.
Jody and Dean rushed towards the back of the barn. Dean clenched his jaw, steeling himself. Jody looked over at him and smiled, slightly. Dean noticed out of the corner of his eye, and looked at her.
“What?” he asked.
“Nothing” she shrugged. “It’s just… if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you have feelings for Y/N, but you’d rather repel her with your anger than tell her how you feel.”
“Feeling okay there, Jody?” Dean asked, sarcastically.
“Hey, I’m just sayin’… you’re both dancing around these feelings, trying to piss each other off and being angry for no reason. There’s nothing wrong with how you feel, Dean” she said, as she took out her machete.
Dean shook his head and said nothing. “Ready?” he asked.
“Yeah” Jody said, as she stood near the back door.
Dean and Jody burst through the back door as Sam and Y/N did from the front. The vampires saw them and split up, half of them heading each way. Y/N raised her machete and beheaded the first male, but the second one, a woman, grabbed her and threw her. She groaned as she landed but scrambled up quickly as it came for her. Sam took the heads off two male vamps and saw that Y/N was down. Before he could get there, she got up and swung her machete, killing the one that threw her into the wall.
Jody killed one and then another, both men. Dean beheaded one female but was now trapped against a pole, as a male tried to choke him out. Sam ran towards the other two and beheaded one, but the other male grabbed him. Jody noticed and ran over, swinging hard and taking it’s head off. Y/N ran towards the other one, and swung, its head fell to the floor as its body let go of Dean and fell.
She breathed heavily as she looked around the barn, before she looked at him. “You okay?”
She put her hand on his shoulder, but he shrugged it off, roughly.
“Like you care” he muttered.
“Everyone okay?” Jody asked.
They all nodded.
They walked back to the cars and cleaned up. Jody smiled at Y/N, as they hugged first.
“You sure you can’t stay and have a drink?” she asked.
“No, I should really get back” Jody replied. “Plus, it leaves your night for some other kind of fun.”
Y/N shook her head. “Not you too.”
“Just give it a chance. What’s the worst that could happen?” Jody asked.
“We could kill each other” Y/N said, not so sarcastically.
“Just try” Jody said, as she smiled knowingly.
“You don’t what you’re talking about” Y/N told her, firmly.
“Yeah, sure” Jody laughed.
She walked over to the boys and hugged them.
Y/N watched as they interacted, they were close. She never realised it. She heard Dean tell her to give the girls their best. He could be sweet with he wanted to be. They were a family. And what he had with Sam… that was something special.
Jody drove off, leaving Y/N with the boys. She walked over to them and smiled, tentatively. Sam smiled at her as he packed up the machetes in the trunk.
“You okay? That vamp really threw you” Sam asked, concerned.
“Oh, yeah, I’ve had worse” she said, shrugging. It was true, she had much worse than being thrown.
Dean sipped his beer as he leaned against the car, ignoring her. He was really starting to get on her nerves.
“Hey, you know I saved your ass. Again. Maybe you could look at me and say something good for a change” she said, her eyebrow raised.
“I didn’t ask you to” he huffed, sipping his beer.
“Yeah, and now I’m regretting it” she scoffed.
“Guys” Sam sighed.
Dean turned to her, jaw clenched, and shoulders tensed. “Fuck, Y/N. What are you even doing here? Maybe go find your own hunt for a change instead of weaselling your way into others.”
Y/N saw red. That was total bullshit. “Not that I owe you an explanation, Dean, but I do find my own hunts. When other people need me, then I help them. I don’t let them down.”
“We never asked you for help with that wolf” Dean recalled.
Y/N rolled her eyes and growled. “Are you seriously bringing that up again? I was in town, passing through! I saw you guys and helped. End of story. If I hadn’t, that wolf would’ve kept your leg as a souvenir!” she yelled.
“Guys, just stop” Sam warned. “Enough.”
Y/N didn’t say anything as she shook her head. She glared at Dean as she walked past him. “Fuck you, Winchester.”
She walked to her car and got in, revving the engine as she drove off, speeding down the highway. Dean looked at Sam for a brief second but when he received a glare from him too, he looked the other way.
“When we get back to the motel, you better stop being an ass and apologise to her” Sam said, as he sat in the car, waiting for Dean to finish his beer.
A sinking feeling made its way into Dean’s stomach. He had really stepped in it this time.
--X--
Y/N stared at herself in the mirror. Despite washing her face to try to cool down, she was still angry. She couldn’t stop thinking about the things they said to each other. Sometimes she just wanted punch him in his perfect face. But then that would ruin said perfect face, Y/N she thought to herself as she walked out of the bathroom. She shook her head, damn him for being so goddamn hot.
Why? Why did she secretly have to be attracted to the older Winchester? Most of the time, it was easy to be angry at him because of his compulsive need to take over everything and run the show. She would channel that anger into hating him, but she had to admit it was just a front, because sometimes Dean was actually sweet. She saw that tonight, with Jody.
Y/N picked up the bottle of whiskey and poured some into a glass. As she stared down at the amber liquid, she thought about how those qualities make Dean who he is. He wouldn’t be Dean without them, and therefore, she wouldn’t be drawn to him. She brought the glass to her lips and gulped down the whiskey. A sharp knock at the door shook her from her musings, as she nearly dropped the glass in her hand. She put the glass down and walked slowly to the door, once again in hunter mode. She didn’t need any surprises tonight. Slightly pushing herself up on her tip-toes, she looked through the peephole.
Dean was waiting on the other side of the door, scrubbing a hand down his face.
“Fuck” she quietly cursed, as she moved away from the door. Why was he here?
“Y/N” his voice came booming from the other side of the door. “Open up, we gotta talk.”
Dean waited as patiently as he could on the other side. After his drink and the guilt of what he said weighing on him, he knew he had to come and talk to her. While she annoyed him sometimes, she was a good person and didn’t deserve to live with what he said. He knew he had pissed her off, and he didn’t want to let the night go by without them talking.
Y/N sighed heavily. Throwing her shoulders back, she took a hold of the doorknob. When she opened it, Dean was struck by her beauty once again.
“What do you want?” she asked, pointedly. She needed this to be over and done with.
Dean gestured towards the room. “Can I come in?”
She rolled her eyes and stood aside. Dean walked in and she closed the door behind him.
“So, um…” he trailed off, not knowing how to start.
“Can you say what you need to say and then leave?” She said, harshly. She was taken aback by her tone, as was Dean.
Dean’s eyebrows furrowed as he blinked a couple of times. “I just came here to apologise for what I said, but if you’re gonna be a bitch about it-”
Y/N scoffed and laughed bitterly. “I think I’ve earned the right to be a bitch, Dean.”
“Wow” Dean shook his head as he looked at her. “Clearly this was a waste of time.”
Dean turned around and headed for the door. She wasn’t going to let him just leave without understanding why he said what he said.
“You had no right to say that to me” she said, taking a step closer to him.
Dean turned around, now it was his turn to scoff. “I know. That’s what I’m trying to tell you. You’d know that if you’d open your mind for one fucking second.”
Y/N glared at him but gave him nothing. She was quiet and Dean took his chance to open his mouth again.
“Listen, I-” Dean cleared his throat and took a step closer to her. “What I said… there’s no excuse for it. I crossed a line and I shouldn’t have. I shouldn’t have gotten pissed at you for stepping in and killing the damn vamp.”
Y/N crossed arms as her jaw clenched. She was trying to keep herself from exploding. “And saving your ass in the process. I’m fucking good at what I do, Dean. I don’t need you questioning me or insulting me!”
“I know” Dean said, trying to keep his cool. “And I’m sorry.”
“Are you really sorry? Maybe this is just another way for you to undermine me. Try to make me believe you so that you can just say whatever the fuck you want to me again!” Y/N stepped closer to him as she stared into his eyes.
“You’re insane” Dean whispered. He closed his eyes. This wasn’t going to end well, and he had no idea how to try and diffuse the situation. He had to think of something quick, though.
“Did you really think I’d be here, trying to make things right, if that’s what I wanted to do?” he asked, as he took a step closer to her. They were close to each other now, so close that he could see her eyes glisten with unshed tears.
She was quiet again. Dean felt like that was almost scarier than her yelling at him.
“Fuck, Y/N” he sighed, scrubbing a hand down his face. “I hated the fact that I said that, and you were mad at me.”
“You’ve never cared about making me mad before, Dean. Why is it different this time?” Y/N asked, but she didn’t really know if she wanted an answer.
Dean shook his head, not knowing how to answer. He knew that if he said something now, he would say too much, and then everything would change.
It was different this time because he had genuinely hurt her feelings and didn’t like that he did that. He had doubted her as a hunter, and that was something you just never do. It made him feel the dirt on the bottom of her shoe and needed to fix that.
“I just-” Dean dropped his head and scratched behind his neck, nervously. “It just is.”
Y/N tried to process what he was saying. He was keeping from her. He looked nervous, like there was something else he wanted to say but he couldn’t.
“You’re lying” Y/N said, firmly. “And I’m done now. So please leave.”
Dean shook his head. If there was one thing he wasn’t, it was a liar. “I’m not lying.”
Her lips pressed into a thin line. Why couldn’t he just let it go?
“Just go, Dean” she said, staring at him. Her expression was blank. She had nothing left to say.
“No.” Dean didn’t move an inch.
Y/N lifted her hands and pressed them against his torso. Even through his shirt, she could feel the hard wall of muscle underneath. She shoved him back slightly, but he didn’t move far. “Leave. Now.”
“I’m not going anywhere, sweetheart” Dean said, staring into her eyes. His eyes were fiery, holding something she couldn’t quite figure out.
She pushed at him harder. “Damn it, Dean. Just go!” She pushed him again. And again. And again. He kept moving back, but he wasn’t leaving.
“Get out!” she yelled as she started to hit her fists against his chest.
Dean tried to calm her down. “Y/N, hey, look at me.”
Dean tried to grab Y/N’s hands, but she kept hitting him, yelling at him to go, to leave her alone. She raised her fist, ready to strike him but in his quick thinking, he grabbed her wrist. She tried to get out of his hold but couldn’t. She raised her other fist, but he grabbed that too, refusing to let go.
“Let go of me” she said, struggling against of his hold.
“Not until you calm down, sweetheart” he said, his gravelly and deep.
She stared up at him as she continued to try and get away from his hold. His eyes were dark, and something about the way he was looking at her lit a fire within her.
“Let me go, Dean” she gasped, trying to get her fists out of his hands.
In that moment, if she had been honest with herself, she really wasn’t trying to get away from him but away from what she was beginning to feel. His gaze never left her, and it caused a fluttering deep in her core, something that she hadn’t expected to feel around Dean Winchester. Yes, she was attracted to him and had been since the first time they met, but she never thought she would feel anything more than annoyance towards him.
Dean looked down at Y/N, the urge to take her in his arms overwhelmed him. He never thought he would feel this way about her. The girl who had pissed him off on several occasions, as recent as a few hours ago. However, in that moment, with her Y/H/C hair floating down her back and a few strands in her face, her perfect lips inciting him, her incredible body so close he could smell her perfume… she was beautiful.
Without thinking, he let the instinct of that moment take over. He leaned down quickly, pressing his lips to hers. Y/N was shocked at first. His lips were soft and perfect. She had to pull away. This couldn’t happen. In the haste of the kiss, Dean had dropped her hands. With them now free, she pushed him away. Not knowing what possessed her to do it, her hand rose and slapped him across the face. Dean’s head turned sharply to the side with the impact. She breathed heavily, the energy from hitting and pushing him, from trying to get away from him, had taken it out of her. Dean looked down at her, his eyes darkened even more, and Y/N felt a heat begin to rise in her core.
Without a second thought, she pushed herself up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his. Dean’s hands landed softly on her hips, hesitant at first. When she lifted her hands and placed them on his jaw, pulling him closer, he brought her body closer to his. He deepened the kiss, softly biting her bottom lip. She gasped into his mouth and wrapped her arms around his neck, pushing herself even closer to him. His hands roamed up her back, tangling in the ends of her Y/C/H hair. Their lips still joined, their kisses became harder and rougher, both of them fighting for dominance. She pressed herself harder into him, which caused him to walk backwards a few steps. His back hit the wall as he pulled her even tighter, his arms hard around her waist.
Y/N’s hands roamed his chest and disappeared under his jacket and flannel shirt. She pushed them off his shoulders and helped him take them off his arms, all while their lips never left each other. Her fingers played with the edge of his black t-shirt, pushing it up, she placed her hands against the warm, soft but strong muscle of his stomach. She reluctantly pulled away from his lips and lifted the shirt off him when he raised his arms. She threw the shirt behind her and turned back to him, taking in the smooth lines and hard muscle of his chest and torso. She leaned in and kissed his neck, biting softly. Her lips trailed down his collarbone, biting and sucking near his anti-possession tattoo.
Dean’s hand found its way to her hair and tugged slightly, pulling her mouth away from his collarbone. He leaned and kissed her, roughly. His entire body felt like fire, burning for her and the things she was doing to him. He was painfully hard already, and all they had done was kiss.
He pulled her away from him, his hands still in her hair. “Shit, sweetheart. You have no idea what you’re doing to me.”
“I think I do” she smiled, biting her lip. Her hand ran down his body, before she slowly rubbed it along the crotch of his jeans. She hummed as she felt him, hard just for her.
With a cheeky grin, she quickly started on jeans. She leaned in and kissed the middle of his chest. She slowly started to lower herself and kissed down his body. Her knees landed on the floor as her hands unzipped and pulled his jeans down. His cock sprung free, causing her to moan at the sight.
“Fuck” she whispered, as she took his cock in her hand.
Y/N leaned in and licked the tip of his cock, tasting the salty pre-cum on her tongue. She pressed her lips to the tip before trailing them down his shaft, heading straight for his balls as she began to stroke him with her hand. Her tongue ran over each ball, causing a sigh from Dean. She continued to do that for a few more strokes before she flattened her tongue, travelling all the way up his cock once more. Dean’s hands slipped into her hair as she took the tip in her mouth. She bobbed her head back and forth, sucking softly.
“Fuck, Y/N, just like that,” he urged her on. He clamped his eyes shut and threw his head back against the wall. He breathed in erratically as he looked down at her. “Shit, you look so good with my cock in your mouth, sweetheart.”
She took him deeper, trying to reach the base of his cock. Considering his size, she used her hand to stroke what she couldn’t fit in her mouth. She pulled back and sucked the tip, her pumping along his length. Her other hand stroked and cupped his balls, as he gripped her hair tighter.
“Your cock is so big, Dean. I love the way you taste, so fucking good” she breathed out as she stared up at him and licked a long strip from his balls to the tip.
“Fuck” he groaned. Now she was talking dirty. How did they get from hating each other to this point? It felt surreal.
She went to take him in her mouth again, but Dean stopped her. He pulled her head back by her hair as he stared down at her.
“You’re wearing too many clothes, Y/N” he said, letting go of her hair and taking her hands.
Dean was completely naked as Y/N took in his form. An Adonis stood in front of her and she couldn’t believe she got to have him. If one night was all she got, then she was going to take it. She quickly got rid of her shirt and jeans, but then he stopped her when he saw her black and red lace bra, and matching panties. He leaned down and kissed each breast, her hands coming up and holding his head to her chest. She gripped the short spikes as he reached around and unclasped her bra, throwing it across the room. He gazed at her breasts, her nipples hard from the cool air of the room. He leaned in and kissed her nipple, taking it into his mouth. He nipped at it, causing a moan from her.
“Dean” she gasped, as she felt his hands travel down.
He grabbed her thighs and lifted her up, turning around and pressing her against the wall. He moved one hand around and teased the front of her panties, feeling how wet she was.
“So wet, baby. It’s all for me, isn’t?” he smirked as he looked at her.
“Yeah” she whispered, leaning her head back against the wall.
He rubbed his fingers along the crotch of her panties, feeling her get wetter. She moaned at the feeling, her eyes shut tightly.
“What do you want, sweetheart? You want my fingers inside you? Fucking you, getting you ready for my cock?” he asked, kissing her jaw.
“Yes” she moaned. “Yes, Dean, I want your fingers inside me.”
Dean leaned in and kissed her, hard. He reached down and pulled her panties away from her body, stretching them until the band snapped. He threw the ripped fabric over his shoulder.
“Dean” she scolded him, but the feel of his lips biting her jaw was overwhelming. She didn’t really care about him ruining her underwear.
Dean chuckled deep in his throat, his fingers rubbing the slit. His fingers became slick from how wet she was, and he inserted two fingers into her warm core. Her walls clenched around his fingers, as he continued to push them in and out of her.
“Shit, Y/N. Your pussy’s so fucking wet, my fingers are soaked, baby. God, you’re so damn hot” he said, smirking as he continued to bite at her jaw.
“Fuck, Dean, that feels so good. Yeah, right there” she moaned. She gripped the hair at the back of his head tightly, her hips thrusting hard against his fingers.
“So impatient” he laughed, as he curled his fingers inside her, rubbing against her g-spot.
“Fuck me” she whispered, incoherently.
“What was that, sweetheart?” he asked, smirking as he teased her.
“Fuck me, Dean. I want you to fuck me with that big cock of yours” she said, louder as she stared into his eyes.
Dean pulled his fingers out of her as she sighed at the loss. He lifted her legs, wrapped them around his waist and gripped her hips, tightly. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, thrusting her tongue into his mouth. He moaned as he tasted her, his hand taking hold of his cock, sensitive with how hard it was.
Dean pressed the head of his cock against her slit. As he felt her tug on his hair, he pushed into the cavern of her pussy. He groaned at the feeling of her wet, warm folds against his hard dick and started to thrust into her. She moaned as she threw her head back, her hips thrusting up to meet his. Y/N had never felt so good. He was stretching her walls so perfectly, making her feel so full.
“Dean you feel so fucking good” she gasped.
“Your pussy feels so fucking perfect around my cock” he grunted, as he gripped her thighs.
The rhythm of his thrusts was good, but she needed more.
“Fuck me harder, Dean. I want you deep inside me” she moaned. “Fuck me hard.”
Dean groaned and obliged her, his thrusts becoming harder and faster.
“Oh fuck, yeah!” she moaned loudly. “Dean… oh god…” she gasped, gripping his shoulders tight, her fingernails making little dents in his skin.
Dean leaned in and kissed her neck, nipping roughly at her pulse. “Fuck, Y/N…” he moaned into her neck.
Dean lifted Y/N away from the wall and carried her over the bed. He pulled out of her and dropped her down on the bed. He turned her onto her stomach, admiring the curve of her ass.
“Hands and knees” he commanded, his voice deep and rough.
Y/N shivered as she did what she was told. The same tone she would get angry at and argue with was now turning her on so much.
She got into position, the anticipation for what was about to come exciting her.
Dean ran his knuckles along her slit, humming at the wetness. He leaned down and pressed his mouth to her entrance, his tongue licking her folds as he grabbed her ass and pulled her closer to his mouth.
“Fuck… Dean, oh fuck yes” her voice hitched, as her hands fisted the sheets.
He thrust his tongue in and out of her, moaning at the taste of her.
“Your pussy tastes so fucking good, sweetheart” he growled, his breath hot against her pussy.
“Dean… I…” she was unable to finish what she was saying. She leaned her head down and bit into her wrist, too overwhelmed by what he was doing to her.
“You what, Y/N?” he mumbled against her folds, before he drove his tongue in deeper.
“Oh please, Dean. Please just fuck me. Fuck me!” she begged. She couldn’t believe the things he was doing to her and how badly she needed even more.
Dean moved away from her and kissed the right cheek of her ass, as he stood upright. “So desperate for my cock. How bad do you want it, Y/N?” he teased.
“I want it so much, Dean. Please, just give me your big cock” she replied, looking back at him.
Dean’s hands gripped Y/N’s hips as he lined his cock up with her entrance. In one swift thrust, he entered her. She moaned, practically screaming as he began a fast pace, his hips thrusting deep as he pulled hers repeatedly onto his cock.
“Shit” he hissed. “So fucking tight, baby.”
The sounds of his hips slapping against her ass, their moans and harsh breaths filled the room. The entire motel could probably hear them, but they didn’t care. All that mattered in that moment was them.
Dean lifted one hand off her hip and slipped it into her hair. He pulled her up, her back flush against his chest as he continued to fuck her.
Y/N gasped as her hand reached up and grasped his short hair. “Fuck.”
Dean turned his head to look her in the eyes, her pupils blown wide with arousal.
“You like what I’m doing, don’t you, sweetheart? You like my cock inside you? Tell me how good it feels” he murmured against her lips.
YN bit her lip as she gazed into his green, lust filled eyes. “Fuck, Dean. Your cock feels so good inside me. So fucking big, fills me so good” she cried out. She took his other hand in hers, taking it off her hip and guided it towards her swollen nub.
“Play with my clit, Dean” she moaned. “Fucking make me cum hard on your cock.”
God, that nearly made him cum right there, but he had to hold on. She was way too good at that. His fingers circled her clit, adding to the pleasure that coursed through her body.
Dean continued to thrust into her hard and fast. He grunted loudly as she clenched around him. “Your pussy takes my cock so good, baby, so fucking perfect.”
With her head still resting on his shoulder and her eyes still looking into his, Y/N gripped his sweaty short spikes in her hand, roughly. “Make me cum on that perfect cock, Dean. Make me yours.”
Dean felt her walls clenching him tighter, and he knew that she was close.
Dean pulled out of her reluctantly. Before Y/N could protest, he flipped her onto her back and climbed on top of her. She automatically wrapped her arms around his neck as he pulled her legs around his waist. He wanted to see her face when she came, he wanted to see what he did to her. Dean looked down at Y/N, her face open and something unspoken in her eyes. Suddenly, the air in the room changed. Something between them changed.
Make me yours. That’s what she had said. She wanted him, he wanted her and not just in this way, but in every other way possible, too.
Dean entered her again, as she gazed up at him, never breaking eye contact. Y/N could feel something change between them. It was quick and it scared her, but she invited the feeling in. His thrusts were deep and hard like before, but the speed became more languid.
Dean took her hands in his, placing them on either side of her head. He pressed his body closer to hers, without crushing her. He leaned in and kissed her, passionately. He pulled away and pressed his forehead to hers, their eyes locked on each other. The energy in the room was charged with something new, something exciting that should’ve been terrifying but wasn’t.
She squeezed his fingers tight, gasping for breath. “Dean, I’m so close.”
“I know, sweetheart” he nodded, “me too.”
His thrusts get slightly faster, wanting them to come at the same time.
“Dean, I-” she started but cut herself off as she moaned at the pressure building inside her.
“Cum with me, Y/N. Cum with me” he groaned.
Dean’s thrusts became erratic, as Y/N moaned loudly, her walls clenching tight around his cock. She looked into his eyes as the coil in her stomach snapped.
“Dean, oh fuck, Dean! Dean!” she moaned his name over and over loudly as she came hard on his cock.
“Fuck, Y/N… I, fuck” Dean muttered as he reached his peak, spilling inside of her.
They stared at each other as they came down from their high, breathing heavily. Dean’s hand came up and softly brushed her hair out of her face. He cupped her cheek in his hand and watched as she leaned into his touch, her eyes closed. He leaned down and kissed her softly. Y/N slowly dropped her legs to the bed as he pulled out of her. She hissed as the loss and the empty feeling, knowing she was going to feel the burn in the morning. She smiled at the thought; she didn’t really mind.
Dean slowly lifted her up and reached for the sheets. He pulled them down and laid her down, her head lying on the pillow. He got up and Y/N frowned, taking his hand in hers. Dean looked at her, his eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
“One sec…” he whispered, as he walked to the bathroom.
Y/N felt the cool air of the room against her sweaty body and shivered. Before she could pull the sheet up, Dean walked out of the bathroom with a damp cloth. He sat down beside her and reached between her legs, cleaning her. She closed her eyes as the effects of their lengthy activities started to take over. She felt him leave, probably to clean himself and then throw the cloth in the hamper, but she ultimately didn’t care. The next thing she felt was Dean slide in beside her and pull the covers over them. She rolled into him, her head resting on his chest.
Dean looked down at Y/N and smirked. She was so blissed out as she rested on him. He wrapped his arm around her and listened as her breath evened out, falling asleep. He stared up at the ceiling, thinking about everything that had happened on the hunt and how it all ended up; with them having sex. Sex that started off as pure adrenaline and tension release, before it became… something more.
He didn’t know what it was; just something that he couldn’t explain. He wasn’t used to this feeling of wanting to be close to someone in the most intimate way. It scared him. Wanting that for more than one night was also a foreign feeling, but as he looked down at Y/N those worries went away. He never thought he would feel this way towards her, but if he was being honest, he always did. He just covered it up and acted out to push away what he felt. Clearly it was the same for her. He could see it in her eyes tonight.
Dean pulled Y/N closer and shut his eyes. For the first time in a long time, he didn’t have any nightmares.
--X--
The morning sun shone through the gap between the curtains. Y/N snuggled further into the pillow, as she felt the rays hit her face. She turned away to avoid the heat on her face and cuddled into the other pillow. Her brows furrowed and her eyes slowly blinked open, adjusting to the light in the room. The space next to her was empty. The sheets were thrown back and only slightly warm, as she smoothed her hand over the sheet. She sat up, holding the sheet to her body. She looked around the room and only saw her own clothes on the floor.
Her stomach sank. There was no sign of Dean. He had left her there, and most likely on his way to whatever was next with Sam. She thought that last night had meant something, something new. Something unexpected, but amazing, nonetheless. She should’ve known this would happen. She took last night for granted and now she was paying for it.
Y/N’s head turned towards the door when she heard keys jingling in the lock. The door opened and to her surprise, Dean walked through holding a coffee holder with two coffees and a small, white paper bag. He tossed her room keys on the table and turned. He smirked when he saw that she was awake. Her hair was a mess and there were small hickeys forming on her neck; he felt a sense of pride as he remembered what occurred the night before.
“Mornin’ gorgeous” he said, walking over to her.
Y/N smiled. She doubted him when she shouldn’t have. It was better he didn’t know that; she didn’t want to hurt him by thinking ill of him for a split second.
“Morning” she sighed.
Dean sat down beside her, the coffee and bag still in hand. He placed them on the bedside table, then slowly moved in, kissing her lips softly. She smiled against his lips. She liked this new side to him.
“I got you those powdered donuts you like and coffee, hint of cream, just the way you like it” he said, when he pulled away. He handed her the cup and smiled.
“Thanks” she couldn’t wipe the giddiness from her face. This was so new, and it should’ve been weird, but all she could think about was how much she actually did care for him. He remembered how she liked her coffee from the one time she ordered in front of him, on that witch hunt. He was so freaking cute.
“So, last night was… uh, unexpected” he mumbled, trying to hide his smirk.
“Yeah, it was” she agreed. “But… god, Dean, it was amazing.”
He smirked. “Fuck yeah, it was.” He leaned in and pecked her lips. He couldn’t stop kissing her and touching her.
The room was quiet before she spoke again.
“So… what now?” she asked, looking him in the eyes. She asked the big question. Someone had to.
Dean took a deep breath, thinking it over. “I don’t know.”
She nodded but waited for him to say something else.
Dean took her coffee-free hand in his and rubbed his thumb over her knuckles. He smiled softly as he looked at her. “All I know is, after last night… I don’t think I can let you go.”
She bit her lip as her heart skipped a beat at his words. “Me neither.”
Y/N leaned in and kissed him, passionately. Dean deepened the kiss, nipping slightly at her bottom lip.
She pulled away, smiling again. “Who would’ve thought all that arguing and pissing each other off would lead to this.”
“Not me” he said, shaking his head. “If the result of that is more of what happened last night, maybe we should piss each other off more often.”
“You better not, if you know what’s good for you, Winchester” she said, as she playfully glared at him.
“I solemnly swear that I’ll try not to” he chuckled.
She laughed. “That’s all I ask.”
She leaned in and kissed him. She smiled as he immediately deepened the kiss once again. Their lips moved against each other’s slowly, but she frowned as he pulled away too soon.
Dean rolled his eyes and didn’t look happy to cut things short. “I wish I could start something up again, but I gotta go. Sam called while I was on my way back here. We gotta head back to the Bunker. Something about Cas needing our help.”
“It’s okay, I understand” she smiled softly, cupping his cheek and grazing her thumb over his stubble.
He leaned into her touch before turning his head and kissing her hand. “Come to the Bunker.”
She nodded. “I will. I just have to do some things for a friend, but I can be there next week.”
“Really?” he asked, trying to not sound too hopeful. It was adorable.
“Of course. I’ve been hearing about it from Jody for so long, I can’t wait to see it myself” she replied, still stroking his cheek.
“I can’t wait to show you” he said, quietly.
She beamed as she leaned in and kissed him.
“Y/N… I really am sorry about what I said. You’re a damn good hunter and I shouldn’t have doubted you-” he started but she covered his mouth with her hand.
She shook her head as she looked into his confused eyes. “You don’t need to apologize anymore, Dean. Clean slate, okay?”
He nodded. She dropped her hand from his mouth. “Clean slate.”
They gazed at each other for a little too long, feeling the same heat from last night rise within themselves.
“You better go. Sam’s waiting for you” she said, taking a sip of her coffee.
Dean groaned. “Yeah.”
Dean reluctantly stood up from the bed and picked up his coffee. He opened the bag and took out one donut, leaving the other two for her. He took a bite and she giggled as the powder stuck to his mouth. She sat up on her knees, hugging the sheet to her body. He cupped her face and kissed her. It was soft and brief but held everything she needed to know behind it.
“You taste good” she smiled, licking her lips and tasting the powder.
He winked. “You taste better.”
She shook her head and rolled her eyes. “See you soon.”
He nodded and kissed her again, once, twice.
Dean winked at her as he walked to the door, before he was gone. She could pinch herself at how everything played out last night. She couldn’t believe it but damn it, she was excited to see what happened next for her and Dean.
Walking towards the Impala, he bit back a smirk. Sam wondered where he had been all night, but Dean didn’t say anything. He probably wouldn’t; at least not for the next hundred miles. It gave him time to think over how everything changed between him and Y/N. They went from hating each other to something much, much better.
He suddenly couldn’t wait for the next week to arrive, and neither could she. They still had a lot to talk about and work out, but one thing was for sure.
They really owed Jody big time.

You all requested a chapter two, so here it is
I couldn’t forget it if I tried. I’ve turned it over in my memory so many times by now that it comes back to me like a well trained muscle repeating a familiar movement. There were a lot of little moments before that, but this one in particular stands out because it was the first one where I realized that he felt the same way I did.
We were an odd pairing from the start; he a pragmatic, analytical planner and me an idealistic, carefree dreamer. He used to call me a “loose cannon” and at first it was truly meant as an insult, said in a moment of frustration, but over time it became a term of endearment. That first day we worked together, I immediately noticed how handsome he was, tall and blonde with a square jaw and slim hips. He was so stoic, and my attempts to get to know him were met with one-word answers and pleas to focus on our assignment. I knew that I wasn’t bad-looking, and in fact I was quite used to men responding to me readily, so it felt like a fun challenge to try and crack his shell. I wasn’t trying to sleep with him; I was smart enough to know what that would do to my reputation. I was one of the first dozen female field agents to serve and I wasn’t about to blow it for all the others by hopping right into bed with my partner. But I was intrigued by his guarded demeanor, and the more he resisted me the more I wanted to know him. He insisted on calling me Rogers, even though I asked him repeatedly to call me Bridget. At first I called him Harry, but then I started calling him Hansen just to make a point and it stuck. It became a dance; I would tease and flirt with him, he would ignore my advances while we worked a case, and every once in a while he would give me a little something. First, it was little jokes, told so dryly that I had to look for the barely-there smirk on his lips to be sure he was intentionally being funny. Getting him to smile was a game in and of itself, but when I got one it was like magic. He was so beautiful when he smiled, and it became a drug I was always seeking. Over time, little by little, he started to trust me, and confide in me. He turned off the AM radio on our long drives and talked to me, not just about work.
One day he turned to me while we were driving, smiling about some stupid program he’d seen on TV the night before, and I realized that I was in love with him. I can’t say now when that happened, exactly, but in that moment I knew it, and that started the years of pushing it down, of going out with other men and pretending that he wasn’t the only one I wanted. It was so hard and heartbreaking, and I thought about asking to be reassigned dozens of times, but I couldn’t give up on the chance to be near him every day. As different as we were, he complimented me so perfectly that he became my equilibrium, the thing that grounded me to the place I was in space and time. I didn’t know how to exist without him. I was faced with an impossible choice; leave the bureau and try to have a happy life without the other half of my heart, or stay and resign to a life of pining for him across the console of our rental car. Of course there really wasn’t a choice. I could no sooner have left him than I could have chosen not to breathe anymore.
I’ve thought about that September night so many times, I can still remember the way his gingham table cloth felt under my fingertips as I nervously traced its pattern, waiting for the news I had been dreading for the last three years. He’d been seeing someone, and I just knew he was going to tell me it was getting serious, that they were getting engaged. I was afraid that I would cry, and he would ask me why, and then he’d know. He was sitting close, closer than most people would to their coworker, but that’s how we were. And he was telling me about this woman, Donna, and I felt so sick.
“I broke it off with her” he had said, and I looked at him, confused. “It just wasn’t right, Rogers. She’s a nice lady, but it just…it didn’t feel right. She’s not the one.”
I was so flooded with relief that I actually did start crying, and of course he was confused. Why would I be crying because he broke up with his girlfriend? He knelt down in front of me, and he held my hands in his, and he was just so sweet. He was always so sweet with me.
“Rogers, what’s wrong? Are you upset about Donna?”
I didn’t know what else to say, or how else to explain it, so I just nodded.
“I know we seemed like a good match, but she’s not the one. She’s the kind of person I always thought I’d end up with, but I’m realizing that I was wrong about what I wanted. About who I wanted.”
I looked at him then, at his crystal blue eyes. It felt like he was looking straight into my soul. He was searching my face like he was looking for an answer, but didn’t know what the question was.
“Bridget, have you ever just realized all of a sudden that everything you thought you knew was wrong?”
He called me by my first name. I nodded, and I thought of that moment in the car. And he was still looking all over my face, and at my mouth, and it felt like we were suspended in space, adrift in a moment that could never go forward or backward. Stuck until we made a choice. We had to make a choice.
He kissed me then, so softly, and we returned to Earth together, having found new ground. Having found each other. Even though we’d worked together and been best friends for 8 years, something entirely new was born that night, and we spent the next 20 years making up for the 8 we had wasted.
I was thinking about this at my retirement party, while the other agents ate grocery store cake and politely looked at photos of my grandchildren. When Agents Mulder and Scully walked in, I couldn’t suppress my smile. Agent Scully walked over to me with a secret smile on her lips, one she always sent my way when we were in the same room together. We had never spoken of our conversation in the bathroom last year, but she always went out of her way to say hi to me.
“Agent Hansen, congratulations” she said warmly, taking my hand in what felt more like a hand-hug than a handshake.
“Thank you, Agent Scully. I look forward to spending more time with my grandchildren.”
Agent Mulder walked up then. He sure was a handsome man, and somehow seemed to get better looking as the years went by.
“Agent Hansen, the time has come!” He said jovially. “I only wish Harry could be here retiring alongside you, he would have loved this little shindig.” There was heavy sarcasm in his tone; he knew Harry would have hated the fuss.
“You knew Harry Hansen?” Agent Scully asked him with genuine surprise.
“Of course, we worked together in VCU. I liked to give him a hard time. He reminded me a lot of you, actually” he said to Agent Scully with a gentle nudge of his elbow to her ribs.
“Sounds like he was a great guy” she joked, then “we have to catch a flight out for a case, Agent Hansen, but I wanted to come by and say goodbye. It’s been such a pleasure working with you.”
Agent Mulder looked at her a little quizzically, but I understood the meaning behind what she was saying. I shook her hand again, and held it in a little squeeze.
“I hope you’ll remember what I said” I told her, and she nodded once before they turned to leave. I was happy to be retiring, but I would miss watching them together and would always wonder if they ever found their way to each other.
A few months later, I was at the 7-11 picking up donuts for my grandsons when I heard a familiar voice in the next aisle. It was Agent Mulder, on his cell phone.
“Hey, sleepy head… It’s after 9, that’s hardly early… Well what were you doing staying up so late last night?” He chuckled, and the innuendo was clear even from the bit of the conversation I could hear. I felt sadness tug at my heart thinking that he was seeing someone, and how Agent Scully must feel. I knew exactly how she’d feel.
“We’ll I’m getting you breakfast now, and coffee, so hopefully that helps…I was thinking we could go to Annapolis tonight, there’s one of those movie in the park things, we could stop by and see your mom first…because no one in Annapolis knows us, so maybe you’ll actually be willing to be seen in public with me…you know what I mean, outside of work”
I couldn’t help but smile from my hiding spot behind the donut case. He was talking to Agent Scully.
“…well, think about and you can decide later….yes, I’ll be back in 15 minutes, go back to sleep if you want…Love you, bye.”
He paid and left, and an idea started cooking in my head. Annapolis wasn’t that far of a drive, and I didn’t exactly have an active social calendar. I just wanted to see them together again, one more time.
My plan had been to get there early so I’d be sure to catch them as they arrived, but through a combination of traffic, my own poor navigation skills (that had always been Harry’s strong suit) and lack of parking, I walked in to a full lawn and the previews already starting. Thankfully, her red hair was easy to spot and I found a place for my blanket just a few feet behind them. It was a little too close, and made the odds they would see and recognize me higher than I would have liked, but soon enough it was clear that it wouldn’t be an issue. They were in their very own universe, bordered by the ugly brown Aztec blanket they sat on. Agent Mulder was reclined against a cooler with Agent Scully between his legs, leaning against his torso like an Adirondack chair, his arms wrapped around her. He whispered in her ear and kissed her neck as she giggled. They looked more like two teenagers on a date than two federal agents and it reminded me of so many nights Harry and I snuck off for dates in some forgettable city after wrapping up a case, freed from the risk that someone from the bureau would see us together and report our relationship. Those were some of the most exciting times in my life, and watching them now…I felt the tears bubbling up in my eyes. They were happy tears, full of memories and love and hope. Full of the promise of a relationship forged in fire and turmoil, sealed by dedication and hard work. I knew I’d have to go visit Harry the next day and tell him all about it, and remember with him how clumsy and awkward we were in the beginning, peeling each other’s armor away slowly until it was just us, unguarded and vulnerable and the most seen we had ever been by another person, or ever would be again.
By the end of the movie, they were spooned together under the stars, the relative darkness allowing for a kind of public intimacy that would normally be out of place. She had fallen asleep, and Agent Mulder was watching her, tracing a finger along the shell of her ear before placing a kiss to her temple. He sighed and I could hear him whisper to no one in particular “my perfect opposite.”

Core disaster week Day 1: Bart’s Birthday// First kiss
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Cassie smiled, sitting down in the picnic blanket. There was so much fucking food- it was awesome.
But not as awesome as being together, all of them. It’d been a while since they managed to meet like this. Kon, particularly, had been hard to pin down and convince to come; but exceptions had to be made on certain days, and Bart’s birthday was the height of special occasions.
Tim, too. She risked a glance at him, stony and silent, and smiled sadly. It truly had been too long.
Sitting each on one end of the blanket, like a flesh and blood compass rose, she smiled again at the unintended philosophy of it all. Bart to the east, bringing the sun into their lives, his energy and warmth a hope for the new day; Kon to the south, lost in memories of the past but a steady, firm ground beneath them; She herself to the west, holding the weight of it all on her shoulders like the sky held the heaviness of sunset; And Tim, sweet, depedable Tim, was undoubtedly their north.
“Cassie? Wonder-honey-baby-dearest girl?”
Snapping out of her reverie, Cassie waved Bart’s concerned face off.
“Don’t worry, just lost in thought. C’mon dude, it’s your day, we can’t start eating until you do!”
A little unsure, Bart sits back on his spot, glancing to his right at Tim. He hesitated a bit, something extremely unusual for a speedster presented with a widely varied menu (Kon and her had flown all over the world picking and choosing his favorites from every possible country- there was a lot).
“He doesn’t mind”, interrupts Kon softly, before anything else can be said.
Taking his word as the gospel it is, Bart’s face broke into the biggest smile and cleaned up his first plate of ‘a little bit of everything’ in less than a blink, already reaching out for more. Without even pausing his chewing, he started babbling out at Tim, who for once didn’t reprimand him on his table manners, nor tried to use a napkin to clean his chocolate-stained cheek. Cassie tried very hard to hide the pang that surprise-attacked her heart.
Desperate for a distraction, she turned to her right, to Conner. He was looking at the other two fondly, a small smile breaking through his face of steel like it was butter.
She remembered back when they were younger, just children, before all the tragedies and the losses; he had smiled easier, then. Wider, unprompted, freely. Giving that handsome smirk like it was candy on halloween.
“It was a good idea to come here”, he acknowledged, once again making her snap out of her head.
“One day, you’ll just accept that all my ideas are good.”
“Do I need to remind you about the deal with the beet demon?”
“That wasn’t that bad.”
“Cassie. We had to eat borsch for every meal. For a month. I don’t think Bart ever forgave you about that.”
They both waited for a second to see if the speedster was about to interject, but he seemed to have missed their conversation, regaling Tim with a tale of his latest training session with Wally.
“Anyway”, Kon coughed, drawing her back to their moment, “it really was. I… I know I wasn’t the easiest person to convince, so..”
“‘The easiest person’? I had to track you down across an entire hemisphere, lasso you like a wild animal and drag you here kicking and screaming. Literally. My bruises have bruises.”
“Anyway, thanks. I… needed to see you all again. I never thought we’d be able to just… sit here and enjoy ourselves, without… you know, all the…”
“Angst?”
“... yeah. How did you even manage to secure us this spot?”
Cassie smiled, leaning back against her arms, enjoying the sun on her face.
“You can thank Tim’s brother for that. I made him promise to make sure no one interrupted us today.”
The other meta snorted.
“It’d be a cold day in hell before I thank Nightwing for anything.”
She winced a bit, but refused to let the implications ruin her good mood. “Come on, you know he’s not my favorite person in the world, but he’s really doing his best to be here for” -a quick glance, Bart still talking his heart out to Tim- “the new Robin. If you can bury the battle axe...he’s not so bad, nowadays.”
Unsure, he shrugged.
“I don’t really care if he discovers the cure to cancer and spends the rest of his life in seclusion as a monk. If I see him on fire and I have a big water bottle, I might help him put it out- after taking a few drinks, first. But that’s as far as I’d be willing to go for him.”
Considering the numerous times Kon had tried to outright attack the older vigilante, Cassie was going to take it.
“How's Jon?” she asked, subject change as unsubtle as a kick to the chest, taking a delicious french pastry between thumb and forefinger and examining it.
He copied her, selecting something brown and salty-looking from the assorted items
“Nothing new. He’s still a better mentor than Supes, though his choice in friends leaves much to be desired. Still, like I told you, I’m… better? I think?”
A pause, as he washed down whatever he ate with a raspberry slushie. Bart’s incessant chatter, once annoying, was now a beautiful background noise. He was just so damn happy, Cassie felt more accomplished even than the time Diana first told her ‘good job’ after a spar. All he’d asked her for his birthday, soft and broken among his tears, had been this; just the four of them, together.
And she’d done her best to make it happen, securing this place and guilting Kon into accepting. She’d done it, and the memory of Bart’s genuine laugh as he told Tim about his last caught villain would -hopefully- be enough to deter the nightmares sure to come with sunfall.
“Anyway, he’s good. What about Donna?”
Cassie let her head fall back between her shoulder blades with a groan, closing her eyes against the glaring midday sun.
“Ugh, don’t remind me. I love her to pieces, but honestly? I can see why my mom has so many grey hairs. Diana is lucky she’s perpetually young and perfect and thus doesn’t need to deal with stress lines. If this is what I was like when she trained me, I have a lot to apologize for. Starting, but not limited to, our days in Young Justice. We did so many stupid things back then.”
“So, the Titans are a riot?”
“They are a bad influence, and I hate how they taught Donna to disobey when I tell her to go to safety and let me do the fighting, but honestly, it’s so much like looking at our past, I can’t help but want to wrap them up in a blanket and wish them luck.”
“I wish you luck. This is why I refuse to take a younger hero under my wing. Too much responsibility.”
“You are a weak bitch. Even Bart is mentoring someone. We have to nourish the younger generation, Kon. Think of the children.”
“You are nineteen, stop talking like you just turned seventy.”
“Well, Cissie is retired. It’s not such a stretch.”
“I’ll tell her you said she’s old.”
“Don’t you dare.”
After those first few hiccups, the rest of the afternoon went smoothly. Uncharacteristically restrained of them, no food fight ensued, but even so it was a pretty fun day. They caught up with each other, teased about past exes and questionable fashion choices, and every silent, solemn moment was endured with joined hands and hearts, a united front against the grief.
Bart’s wet eyes shone, filled with gratitude, when he blew the candles. Cassie caught the exact moment on camera, having learnt the value of getting those precious seconds immortalized forever somewhere other than her own mind.
He kept his wish to himself, but it wasn’t really a mystery. Just by the way he glanced at Tim, they could harnett a pretty solid guess.
Heartache was a familiar, almost comforting feeling to her now, but the wave of raw emotion that almost washed her away at Kon’s crystalized eyes and Bart’s trembling hands gave her pause. Cassie looked away from them for just a second, giving herself this moment of weakness, and in the fleeting light of sunset, she could have sworn she saw a familiar face, looking over them from the shadow of a tree, smiling fondly.
But it was missing with her next blink, so she just shook her head to dispel any traces of wistfulness and turned back to her boys.
It was in silence that they picked up their stuff. Super speed would have made it a chore of just a millisecond, but none felt the urge to run away, so they took their time, hands brushing and then clutching while they cleaned up this sacred place they had borrowed for the day.
Cassie really needed to thank Damian for coming through for her on this. As much as she had despised the other vigilante in the past, a leftover feeling from Tim’s own feud with his older brother, she had learned to forgive and forget. It was, she’d come to accept, the only way she could move on.
Basket finally full with the blanket, empty plates and chocolate stained napkins (Kon’s hand had trembled as he cleaned Bart’s cheek in their leader’s stead), they stood together, arms around each other with the birthday boy in the middle. One by one, they said their goodbyes. It hurted a little less than the last time they could manage to do this, perhaps helped by the fact Kon hadn’t stormed off midway this time.
Cassie smiled. It was sad, it was raw, it was heavy. But it wasn’t broken. She-they- weren’t broken. A puzzle with a missing piece was incomplete, not shattered.
The hand not around Bart’s shoulders stretched, as Cassie’s finger traced the poem they had Bruce engrave in Tim’s tombstone.
“He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.”
The kids that had chosen that poem as immortalization of their grief had been drowning in it, she knew. Had needed a way to let the world know “we are not okay, we’ll never be okay again”. It was, maybe, what saved them back then.
But she wished she could crouch down in front of those lost, overwhelmed kids and tell them ‘you never stop missing him, but you learn to be happy again; and he brings you all together, just like the first time’.
So Cassandra Sandsmark, former Wonder Girl (now something more), lets her head fall back, looks at the setting sun and smiles. Because she can. Because she’s alive, and she’s gonna fucking smile for him, if its the last thing that she does.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The shadows of the coming night hide him, embrace him, want to keep him; he puts a stop to that, let’s himself be kept from wandering eyes but avoids the eternal retaking. He’s seen that side of the road and is under no hurry to visit it again.
Instead, he watches the young heroes, bathed in light and laughter, sitting around a dead bird’s grave.
He yearns. He wants, more than anything, to go to them. To join them in the warmth, in happiness. To go back to the only home that never felt anything else than welcoming.
But he has work to do; there’s a new Robin in the streets, and he needs to ensure that what happened to him doesn’t happen to this frail, rough around the edges and full of life bird.
He waits until they pick up and leave, before donning his suit and walking in the opposite direction. Hopefully, a time will soon come when he can smile with them again.
But, for now, the Red Hood has a clown to hunt and a criminal underbelly to conquer.

warnings: tw; mention of blood
word count: 5.3k
a/n: in honour of my birthday (i flatter myself), the much-procrastinated, long-awaited (?) saga begins! a massive thank you to jess ( @brianmays-hair ) and pearl ( @deacyblues ), the masterminds behind the premise of this fic. if you have not already guessed, this is most definitely a phantom of the opera au.
~⚘~
The stage was alive with sound.
With movement it crawled, such that from a distance it appeared to be shimmering, for the headdresses of the dancers sparkled like mirrorballs, casting flecks of light throughout the theatre like stars.
In the grand foyer, glittering crystals dripped from the ceiling, and shadows chased the balustrade statues that raised candelabras above their marble heads.
The place hummed with life, typical of the pre-show hustle and bustle, where every inch of floor was populated by activity, each person more frantic than the next, and the frenzy was only building by the minute.
The theatre became louder as the shouts grew more frequent, and the poor conductor was struggling to raise his voice over the clamour, the prima donna of the production now doing the most orchestration, in terms of chaos.
You sighed, and Meg rolled her eyes. This was going to be a long night.
Meg’s brother shot her a warning look.
We cannot afford to lose our leading lady, his look said.
“Yes, Monsieur Giry,” Meg mocked, but only when his back was turned.
“I heard that,” John hissed as he passed his sister.
But Meg only laughed.
You shook your head at her. “You really oughtn’t annoy your brother like that. He has the power to fire you from here, you know.”
“Oh, but it’s so funny when he gets like that,” Meg said. “His hair always bounces whenever he leaves in a huff.”
You stared after John, whose mound of hair really did bounce when he walked. You smiled.
Then, one of the owners of the opera, a man with dark hair and dark irises to match, made a grand gesture, and all eyes followed his hand. “Darlings, may I present the Vicomte de Chagny.”
Your heart caught in your throat, and you found that you couldn’t remember as to why Meg was giggling by your side.
It couldn’t be.
It couldn’t be him.
Could it?
In your disbelief, your mouth fell open, because there, at centre stage, being introduced as the new patron of the Opera Populaire, was Roger.
Golden-haired, blue-eyed Roger, sweet and silly, who, in your childhood, had been a companion closer to you than your own shadow. You had no fonder memories than those in which he made an appearance, laughing happily as the two of you traded stories of goblins and the rain lashed against the windows of the attic, as your father, long passed, played his violin by candlelight, as Roger shared with you the last of the chocolate.
There would never be a day when you did not think of him.
“Y/N?” Meg intoned.
“Roger,” you whispered, unable to do anything but watch him and his smiling eyes, as he shook hands with the opera personnel.
Meg frowned, standing on her tiptoes in an attempt to see above the gathering crowd, but she was unsuccessful. “The Vicomte? What of him?”
A smile flickered across your face as you murmured, “I guess we could say we were childhood sweethearts.”
Meg’s eyes widened in your peripheral vision. “Y/N, he’s so handsome,” she said.
“What,” you laughed, “do you think he’s too good for me?”
Meg pushed you lightly. “No, of course not. If anything, I’m just surprised that there are still attractive people left in the world. And god, you’re lucky to have had one of them.”
You flushed, “Meg! I have not had him, as you so indelicately put it. And he was never mine.”
“I believe I am keeping you for rehearsal, Signor,” Roger told the owner of the opera in his airy manner. He spoke rather like a prince, you thought, with his long vowels and sharp consonants, and the way his voice hummed with a cadence, as though his words were meant to be a song.
“Oh please, with the formalities,” the opera director waved a hand. “Freddie.”
“Freddie,” Roger nodded. “Well, I’ll be here this evening, to share in your great triumph!”
He shook hands with the company once more, and then departed through the wings on the opposite side of the stage.
Your heart sank a little as he left. But then again, it had been many years ago that you had seen him last, and so much had changed since then.
“Y/N?” Meg asked.
You shook your head. “He wouldn’t recognise me.”
“Of course he would,” Meg assured you, a hand on your sleeve. “He didn’t see you, that’s all.”
You weren’t so sure.
“I have a message, sir,” John was saying to the owners of the Opera Populaire. “From the Opera Ghost.”
“Oh god in heaven!” cried Freddie. “You’re all obsessed.”
John blinked, irritated at being interrupted, but deigning to continue nonetheless. “He welcomes you to his opera—”
Freddie snorted indignantly, “His opera?”
“And commands that you continue to leave Box Five empty for his use, and reminds you that his salary is due.”
The discussion continued, with an outrage on Freddie’s part, concerning the paying of a salary for someone who was not even real, and your thoughts wandered back to Roger.
He had scarcely returned to your life for a handful of minutes, and yet, your infatuation had already taken ahold once more. You wondered faintly if he had ever thought of you the way you still thought of him.
But then you were thrown from your reverie, as a cry erupted from the crowded stage.
“He’s here!”
“Who?” you said, alongside everyone else in the theatre.
Meg clutched at your arm as a hush fell over the room.
“The Phantom of the Opera,” another person shouted. “Up in the rafters!”
Gasps and whispers sparked all around, and you whirled in the same direction as your companions, each of you straining your eyes in an attempt to see past the darkness of the rigging.
One of the opera directors called for silence.
“There’s no one there,” he said, and the masses fell calmer again, turning away from the rear of the stage and grumbling about making a fuss over nothing.
But you didn’t turn away; you stared into the abyss.
And then a shadow swept across the scaffolding, like dark fabric tossed in a wind, like a cloak, or a cape, and you gave a shout.
“There!” you said, your heart thudding with adrenaline, and Meg whirled in the direction of your raised arm.
“Where, where?!” she cried, but the longer she looked, the more obvious it became that whatever had previously been there was no longer.
You lowered your arm, a little dejectedly.
“Never mind,” you murmured, a crease forming between your eyes. “I thought I saw something, but I suppose I didn’t.”
“Oh,” Meg frowned, looking as disappointed as you felt.
But even as she turned away, you couldn’t tear your eyes from what you’d seen.
Because you knew what you’d seen.
You’d seen eyes— hazel— staring right back at you.
~⚘~
The darkness came so easily these days. He did not even have to turn to the shadows for it to eclipse the light. It was there at the corner of his eye, a soft whisper at his ear, a constant presence that was as calming to him as it would have been unsettling to any other.
The darkness had never drawn back in fear at the countenance of his face. The darkness had never told him that he was unloved and would forever remain unloved. The darkness had never cast him from his home, and forced him to cower in the cold when the snow bit at his skin, exposed by the coat he could not afford to own.
The darkness had always been there.
And yet, it was darkness, and so by definition, it was never really there at all. It was the absence of all things, and nothing can come from nothing.
But she was not nothing.
The light she carried in her voice, in her shoes. She was as light on her feet as she was in her spirits, and it made him want to change.
But he knew naught of change, and so it would not come.
Not without her.
But with her… Perhaps.
~⚘~
The production had barely begun, and yet Roger was already leaning over the banister to bring himself closer to the stage, as close as he dared to go without tumbling into the audience on the lower level.
He had hardly been able to believe his eyes, his ears, when she had taken to the stage. For all he could tell, her shimmering gown might well have been made from the waters of a moonlit river, and her eyes bore the same gentle glow they had always borne, and her voice was as beautiful as ever. Roger wondered if she would deny her talent still, if he were to tell her of it again, this day.
He could not deny the warmth which spread through him at the sight of her, and nor did he wish to. He would bring her flowers after the performance and tell her again of her talent.
And maybe, he would tell his Little Lotte what he had never been able to tell her all those years ago.
Maybe he would tell her that he loved her.
The production had barely ended before Roger had left his place on the balcony, in favour of hurrying down the stairs to where he would not miss seeing her.
Her. The only one who mattered.
~⚘~
Their calls echoed, praise upon praise where none before had existed, where previously you had lived in an echo chamber of your own mind, where you had been forced to endure the clamour of every voice that hissed— not good enough, not good enough, you’ll never be good enough.
Where had they been when the desperation had settled into the hot blood that coursed through your veins, painted your toes in horrible hue when you had danced for too many nights without a penny to show for it? Where had they been when your father had died and you’d have given your voice itself to have him back, to feel once more the touch of hand upon your shoulder, assuring you that he was there, that you were there?
Where had they been?
Their affectations you would have wished to endure as little as you wished to endure the echo chamber inside your head, for they would have shouted if a man had ridden a horse across the wooden framework of the stage.
But there was another sound. There had always been another sound.
In the darkness there was a solace— a comfort, almost— and a low, steady hum.
A voice.
An angel. Your father had always promised you that there would be an angel.
And he had been right.
An angel of music, to light the quiet moments between your thoughts, when friends were few and the cold grew monstrous teeth.
There had always been music in your ears— a tune to be hummed, a dance to be danced— and you could not quell the urge to sing when it came to you. That was how you had found your way to the Opera. It had called to you, far stronger than anything you had felt since your father had passed, since Roger had left.
Roger.
He was here. And he was here tonight. What had he thought of the show? Of you? Or were your fears to be realised, that he had not recognised you at all?
The candle in your peripheral vision flickered, subject to the whims of a draft.
The wind does not whisper indoors.
A shiver ran down your back, as sure there had been fingers to skim down your spine, the softness of the action turned sinister by the anonymity of the hand.
And then— again— a voice.
It bristled on the air like electricity, like a live wire simply waiting for the right person to make contact and ignite a fire.
It prickled on the back of your neck.
You turned, your movements slowed by a strange sort of fear, and yet, you wanted to know whose voice it was. You intended to make that contact, for so long had you lived without any sort of fire at all, and you were tired of being burned out.
“Where in the world have you been hiding?”
You nearly jumped out of your skin when Meg’s call reached your ears, the sound of her dainty footsteps growing more distinct as she approached. The shadow at the corner of your eye was snuffed out as surely as any flame.
You felt your shoulders lower ever so slightly, half in relief, half in disappointment.
You had been so close to knowing that the lack of knowledge was now almost too much to bear.
“Really,” she went on, with a little huff. “You were perfect. I only wish I knew your secret.”
“Meg,” you said, and she tilted her head like a curious fawn. “When your brother brought me here to live… whenever I come down here alone to light a candle for my father, a voice from above and in my dreams…” You trailed off, thinking of the soft baritone you could call to mind at will, it was so frequently present. “He was always there,” you murmured. The memories lulled you, quieted your senses, as though you were walking in a dream. “You see, when my father lay dying, he told me I will be protected by an angel. An angel of music. I used to dream he’d appear…”
You were quite sure that Meg had made a response to your musings, but you were not well aware of what that response had been, and nor could you find it in you to care. There remained suddenly only a singular thought within your head, and that was who? Who was the voice? He was the darkness, you were sure of it. He was the comfort, the peace amidst the chaos of the world, but he was evasive, the unseen genius. You longed to know the face of such an angel. You did not know for how much longer you could go on not knowing.
You blinked, and became conscious of the fact that you were no longer in the chapel. Meg had led you from it, and the two of you now weaved behind the screen, in the space between the stage and its rigging, your friend leading you by the hand.
“Y/N, your hands are cold,” she whispered, and her own face was pale, a mask of terror.
You wriggled your fingers slightly in her grasp. She was right; you felt as though the warmth had left your very blood. But though your skin was cold, you were not. You burned brighter than ever, as bright as the candle you lit, night after night, in the memory of your father.
“I know,” you answered. “But I am not frightened.”
~⚘~
It was John whom you saw first, following the show.
He placed a hand on your shoulder, and when he smiled, you thought that perhaps he considered you family as much as he did Meg. It made you feel a little less alone in the world.
“You did well, Y/N,” he said.
Then, to your puzzlement, he handed you a single red rose, upon the stem of which was tied a silk ribbon, in a pretty bow which shimmered onyx black in the dimly lit dressing room.
You had the strangest feeling, looking at that bow. An overwhelming sense of déjà vu, as though you’d somehow seen that exact shade of black before. In a dream, perhaps. Or in another life, if there were such things.
A shadow stirred at the corner of your eye, but when you turned to confront it, there was nothing but light bouncing off of the walls, and John nowhere to be found.
And Roger, standing in the doorway, with his familiar half-smile and eyes that glinted with mischief, a bouquet of flowers over one arm.
“Little Lotte thought,” he began, his smile growing as he made his way toward you, “am I fonder of dolls, or of goblins of shoes, or of riddles or frocks—”
“Those picnics in the attic,” you said, and your smile mirrored his.
“Or of chocolates,” Roger continued with a wink, setting down the flowers.
They surfaced in your mind, those memories. Bathed in golden light as though the sun shone upon them through stained glass windows, their images rendered divine in their innocence, their happiness. “Father playing the violin…”
“As we read to each other dark stories of the North,” Roger reached you and sank to his knees, his tone soft and playful and all those things you’d missed about him since before you’d known he’d be gone.
“No,” you whispered, and you thought that his eyes had never been as blue as this. Wider than the sky and bluer than the deepest of seas, cerulean and sapphire and everything in between. Every shoal and reef one could have imagined to exist shimmered in his irises, a whole other world, and it belonged to him.
And it belonged to you, when you looked at him.
“What I love best, Little Lotte said, is when I’m asleep in my bed…”
A tingle rushed down your spine as he drifted closer to you, so exquisite in his stillness, the prettiness of his being that suddenly assaulted your senses like the smell of roses.
Roses. A rose. With a black ribbon.
A gift—
“And the angel of music sings songs in my head.”
His smile grew until you thought it would take over his face entirely, and then he embraced you, tightly.
Oh, how you’d missed him and the feeling of being held in his arms, the way your chin fit perfectly on his shoulder and his cheek rested against your cheek.
“You sang like an angel tonight,” he murmured, and you sighed into the crook of his neck.
He pulled back again, and you relished the way his gaze lingered on your own, as though he could not look away, and even had he been able to, would have had no mind to do so either.
“Father said, when I'm in heaven, child, I will send the Angel of Music to you.” Roger blinked, as though resurfacing from the depths of a dream, and you perceived a change in him. “Well, father is dead, Roger, and I have been visited by the Angel of Music.”
He gave a little laugh, and there it was at once, that which had hurt you so much in the past, and still stung you now. You had thought you had grown, but really, you were still that little girl, no more grown than you had been when you were shorter than your father’s music stand, as sensitive as you’d always been.
He didn’t believe you.
He thought you were telling stories, as usual, and his skepticism was grating; it tore at your heart.
“Oh, no doubt,” he said, clearly in doubt. He stood up, brushed off the front of his coat. “And now we'll go to supper!”
You fought to make him believe you, anything to have that warmth return to his eyes once more, to turn away his disbelief. “Roger, no—”
“Change, sweetheart, and I’ll order my carriage,” he waved a hand as he strode toward the door.
“No, Roger, wait!”
The door had shut. And he had shut you out, again.
You were still those children, haunted by your losses and warned not to believe that which was strange, even if it was true.
But there was no magic in this form of youth, because it was not youth so much as the turning of a blind eye to that which one did not understand.
And Roger did not understand you. You couldn’t help but wonder if he has ever.
The lock of the door clicked, and you tensed.
The room felt suddenly cold, and you would not have been surprised if cobwebs had begun to spiral down from the ceiling, if ice had formed on the door handle and the mirror, if the flowers all around you had withered in an unbidden frost.
Then a rush of that strange wind that could not possibly exist within the walls of the Opera, and every candle in sight was extinguished. You imagined that it was not only the candles in this room, but all of the candles, everywhere, snuffed out in their prime, one by one, until the Opera turned shadowy and grey.
The frost settled on your skin as a voice rose from the shadows to greet you in the silence left in the wake of Roger’s departure.
A familiar voice.
“Ignorant fool,” came the whisper, quiet but condemning in manner, resolute in assessment.
It was close. He was close.
The angel, he was here.
“Angel,” you murmured, your eyes flitting between the shapes of the world in darkness, trying to discern the living from the inanimate, but entirely without luck. You whirled, anything to catch a glimpse, yet still there was nothing. “I hear you— speak, I listen…”
Your plea was met with silence, but his presence was not gone, so you began again. “Stay by my side... Guide me.”
You reached out your hands in the darkness, and there again was that rush of cool air, like someone moving past.
“You shall know me,” he answered. “See why in shadow I hide.” His voice lowered to that whisper again, and you felt the cold reach your very bones. “Look in the mirror.”
Toward the mirror you wandered, on some invisible path, like staring at something so horrible that one cannot look away, only this was not horror you felt, but a sort of gravitation in favour of the unknown.
Curiosity.
And there, in the looking glass, was a face, or part of one— high-cheeked and fine boned, severe in beauty, yet cold in the stare of those hazel eyes which should rightfully have been warm as a summer’s day.
But they were not.
Had the mirror been any less pristine, you would have thought it damaged, for you could see little cracks there, in his eyes. But the cracks were not part of the mirror. In fact, they were part of nothing at all, no more than a figment of your imagination. But you perceived in him a brokenness, and so that was how he appeared to you.
His skin shone like porcelain, almost blended with the half of his face covered by some fashion of mask.
And curls.
His hair was so curly that you thought there would have been curls for miles if they had all been uncoiled and the ends spun together.
Such beauty did not often hide behind a mask. You wondered why this one did.
You drew nearer to the mirror and it rippled like water. You imagined the figure reaching out his hand to you. Or maybe you were not imagining it. Maybe it was real.
And it was.
His fingertips skimmed the palm of your hand and you gasped at the touch.
There was a tremble in his hand, and you longed to still it. You curled your fingers around his wrist.
He pulled you closer to the mirror and sharply, the air left your lungs.
You felt his eyes skim down from your temples, to your jaw, until he lifted his gaze to meet your eyes. You could not breathe beneath that gaze.
“Are you afraid of me?” he asked.
And the darkness— it finally had a face.
“I am not afraid of you,” you whispered, feeling a heaviness like relief take over your senses, dousing you in drowsiness.
“Perhaps you should be,” he replied, and his exhale touched your lips. The blood in your veins which had been cold was now hot, and the pace of your heart made your head spin.
Then his grasp fell stronger upon your own, and he pulled you through the mirror.
Someone was calling your name, somewhere, but you found suddenly that you could not look away from the one who grasped your hand, the one whose eyes remained upon your own, even as he led you.
Where he was leading you, you did not know, but this mystery was one that had existed for far too long already, and you were desperate for answers, for a glimpse of truth in this world of shadows, where you had been blind for too long to remember what truth looked like.
So perhaps it was not the truth that you were chasing, but rather a dream, in which you would slip farther and farther from reality until the fantasy consumed you.
But what was there to miss from this place? You had no family to speak of, and the opera would surely go on as it always did. After all, the show must go on.
The walls seemed to bow inwards, and the candles mounted there danced in the hands that held them, because indeed, the candelabras were golden hands.
But you were not concerned by the swaying walls or the golden hands. All you could think of was the hand which rested lightly in yours, the eyes that gleamed softly, far more beautiful than any candle.
It soon became dark once more, as the candelabras became fewer and fewer in number, as you descended with the face of the darkness, until at last you found yourself within a small boat, which sailed swiftly across the waters of a river you had never known the existence of.
Perhaps it was the river Styx, of which you had always heard in stories. You did not spare the thought doubt, for nothing would surprise you anymore. It would seem there was an entire world beneath the Opera Populaire, and this was the first that you were seeing of it.
How many more hidden corners of the world had passed you by?
The thought struck in you a sadness, and awash with a heady loneliness, you glanced over your shoulder.
But of course, he was still there— the tall, dark shadow that had always been there, and you hoped he would always be there. The darkness still called to you, even now.
You felt a smile curve your mouth.
Then the boat crested a shore, and you turned back to the prow of the vessel, to find the walls of a spacious cavern decorated in swaths of red velvet, similar to that of the Grand Drape of the opera. All around were those candles, sparkling like supernovas in the darkness, the light glancing of off hundreds of odd trinkets, from mirrors to chandeliers, to more candelabras, and it impressed you as strange that there should be so many agents of light in a place of such darkness.
And then he was stepping from the boat and extending his hand to you again, though you could not remember letting go.
His gaze was sharp and it challenged you, dared you deny him your hand.
You did not deny him your hand.
Wordless still, he drew you forward, led you on a path amongst the candles, to the music of the night— of the river water lapping against the shore, of the sound of the velvet drapes which fluttered in that impossible wind which seemed to breathe life into every forgotten corner of the Opera Populaire, including this cavern.
You came to a stop where the ground was raised, and you at once lifted your eyes to that masked face.
“Who are you?” you murmured.
“The same as I have always been,” he replied, with a dip of his head.
“And who is that?”
“The angel, of course.” His voice was low, smooth as caramel, and enraptured by the sound, you gazed up at him. “Yours.”
“Mine?”
“Am I not your angel?” he asked, and you thought he drew closer. “Have you not always spoken to me amongst the whispers of the night? Have you not fallen asleep many a time with my name on your lips?” He was definitely closer now, for you were almost chest-to-chest, and he grasped your hands between the two of you, lifted them to his lips.
He ghosted your fingers with a kiss, and heat spread through you at the tender touch.
“I do not know your name,” you said.
He lowered your hands but did not release them, instead running one long forefinger over the underside of your wrist, a gesture behind which shivers followed.
“May, some used to call me.”
“May?” you whispered, and felt the intimacy of the name of your eternal protector hum across your lips. “An uncommon name.”
“I once had another. But none remember it.”
“Except you,” you said. “You remember.”
His eyes flickered. “I can hardly call it mine.”
This was dangerous ground. His jaw and his grip upon your hands had tightened, and though the change in demeanour was subtle, it was significant.
But you pushed back, because you had come here for answers.
“Tell me,” you said.
You took your hands from his grasp and raised them instead to either side of his face, to the cool porcelain of the mask, to the burning skin which told of fire beneath— a fire to his soul, as there was to your own.
His eyes fluttered closed at your touch and he leaned his cheek into your palm, his breath a caress across your skin.
“Brian May.”
He gifted the words to you with a shudder, and you knew in your heart that you were the first in a long time to hear them. His lips brushed your palm, and his fingers skimmed your hips, to which you leaned in closer, now almost in an embrace.
“Return my name to me,” he whispered.
To your toes you lifted yourself, and his name flooded your lips as ambrosia, everlasting, binding, but though your blood turned to fire, your bones did not become dust, unless by dust, stardust was meant.
“Brian May,” you said, and slipped your fingers beneath the mask.
With a cry, he pushed you away, roughly, and you fell to the ground as the mask fell from his face.
A tremor began in the surface beneath your feet, before it spread to the entirety of the floor and spiralled up the walls, shaking the cavern and everything within it with such force you feared the breaking apart of the very Earth.
Candles toppled from all around, and you gave a shout as one narrowly missed lighting your dress aflame, again when a mirror nearly crushed you, and hot tears of mortal fear pricked your eyes.
Until a hand pulled yours and a body shielded your own, as glass shattered and waves swelled within the winding river.
Then, as abruptly as it had begun, the earthquake receded, and your protector disentangled himself from you.
Sitting up, you wiped tears from your face, ashamed of the fear which had plagued you, and you found that the cavern was all but completely dark. Only a single candle had survived the shaking of the cavern, and its light now seemed almost garish.
Then eyes met your own in the dark, and your gaze fell upon the right side of his face, to find—
Nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing but the second half of a man’s face, equal in beauty to the first half, for but a slightly over-dilated pupil which obscured the hazel of its iris.
But then again, perhaps you did not see a man at all, but a boy.
Because for all the terror in his expression, you could not see past his youth.
When he spoke this time, his voice was gravel, and a coldness settled within you at the condemnation in his tone, for it was clear that he was no protector here.
“What have you done?”

"Diluc! I'm not here to boss you around! I want to help! Why don't you get that?!"
A young woman with long purple hair stood in front of the tavern owner. Tears made her flaming pink eyes sparkling, but not a single drop had left them yet. She held back her emotions with all affordable strength, yet the air around that woman seemed to be charged with pure electric energy.
"And I told you, that I don't need any help. Why don't you get that, Akali?", he answered with his arms crossed.
Diluc was always distant, nevertheless she tried to be close to him. Ever since they were little, she tried her best, but now Akali wondered why she even tried.
"Fine."
No more words were spoken. She bit her lip, so there wouldn't be any words she'd regret. Only the bitter sweet taste of her own blood.
With all the strength left in her bones, Akali walked out of the room, her head up high and not looking back. Only so could she remain her dignity.
By all the Archons, she wished that he would shout after her, stop her, call her name, but he never did.
He never would. It just wasn't Diluc's way.
It's been years since they last saw each other. Many things had changed, but Diluc didn't. He remained as stubborn and cold as she left him.
Why couldn't he just accept her help?
Akali passed some guests of the tavern when she stormed out of the backroom. It was hard to keep her mind focused on all the anger and thoughts, when there was so much joy all round. All of the people were having lively conversations while hovering infront of their glasses.
She couldn't take the atmosphere right now. It made her sick.
All those noisy people engaged in their happy conversations, drinking expensive wine on wooden chairs in Dilucs tavern. What in earth was she thinking? That he'd change? That he'd accept help just this once?
His honor came before everything, even their friendship. Ugh! There are people's life on the line and Diluc kept on playing the hero who didn't need help, when he actually did.
Who else could he ask for help? Or maybe who else could she ask?
But just before Akali could leave the stuffy air of Diluc's tavern behind, the door opened and it was none other than her other childhood best friend.
"Kaeya?"
It didn't took her long to recognize him. He stood out by everything he wore, his eyepatch, the long dark blue hair and his eyes. They had the most beautiful icy color, Akali had ever seen and she had seen many.
But apparently not only she did recognize the one in front of her.
"Kali! What are you doing here? Having a glass of wine without me?", he grinned.
Of course he noticed the tears in her eyes, the way her face had turned all red when she was angry and the static in the air, but most importantly he noticed Diluc, who had just now returned to his spot behind the counter and was keeping an eye on them.
Something must have happened, it always did.
"I'm staying in Mondstadt for a few days and I thought I... visit someone.", she bitterly admitted.
"Well then, would you fancy having a drink together? Telling me about your adventures, perhaps? Or if you'd prefer, we could go somewhere else."
"No! No... It's okay. We can stay... I would gladly spend some time with you."
Under the strict eyes of the tavern owner the two of them sat down in a corner at the back of the establishment, away from all the noise, the bard's music and happenings.
Kaeya had aged really well, Akali thought to herself. He had indeed become very attractive. She even dared to think that he looked fancy.
Something about him had always been kind of exotic... Maybe that was why he stood out. But on her journey Akali had learned to sort of like the things that stood out.
"So tell me, what have you been doing all these years?", the blue haired asked.
"Traveled the world. I've just wanted to see as much as possible. I worked for different people, helped most of them too. And now I'm here for sometime. It's really not that special."
Kaeya leaned back in his chair. Blue eyes still focused on her silhouette.
The three of them, Akali, Diluc and him were childhood friends. They spend many years of training together. They were like family, one could have even said.
Together they had been through so much fun and trouble... Memories of better times, that layed way to long in the past.
For now Kaeya could only remember how much he wanted the little purple haired girl to be happy. Or maybe he always tried to make that happen.
A long time had passed since she left and now instead of the cute, friendly girl, that picked on him and made him laugh, a young, beautiful woman was sitting right next to him.
"I think it is very interesting indeed. You need to tell me more."
A grin formed on both their lips, as she looked up from the table and directly into his ice blue eyes.
"Well, I guess I can tell you some stories, but what about you? Are you a knight of the order? Or just..."
"Just what?"
"I don't know. Just independent, like others...", she said slightly teasingly, with a slick eye roll.
"I'm a knight. Cavalary Captain of the Knights of Favonius, to be exact."
"Wow, sounds like alot of responsibility."
"It is. Although the grandmaster took all the Cavalary and now there is none for me to captain.", he nodded with a soft simile on his lips.
"But tell me, for how long have you been in Mondstadt?"
A short silence settled in between the two. Not long enough to make it awkward, but also not short enough to go unnoticed.
It was a moment of thinking.
"I arrived two days ago. But-", Akali couldn't finish her explanation about how she wanted to go see him after some things were sorted out, as a waitress interrupted the talk.
"H-Hello, d-do you know what you'd like to order yet?", the woman asked nervously.
Kaeya knew her. Donna, a shy, mousy girl, although very friendly, but she had a crush on Diluc, for literally all the wrong reasons. Hm, not that that was something new.
"The usual, for the both of us this time.", he quickly responded.
"O-okay."
Quickly Donna left. Her cheeks had the color of wild raspberries by the moment she could finally leave their table and over her, one could only see Diluc's flaming red eyes darting towards the two, but none of them actually cared.
"So... the usual, huh?"
"Oh don't worry. It's called "Death by Afternoon", which is sparkling wine with three parts dandelion wine. You'll like it. Trust me."
Of course she trusted him.
They both shared a moment. Of course, Kaeya forgot that Kali didn't drink. Surprisingly enough that the usually confident woman didn't intervine.
"What about your non-drinking attitude?", he winked.
"Let's say that that changed over the years. I wouldn't want to be caught dead with a glass of grape juice in my hands, now would I?"
Of course she nagged Diluc over his favorite drink, just like Kaeya usually did.
"Some people are just unromantic."
They shared a laughter together, that felt like it had been the first time in forever. So that is what both of them missed.
"Maybe you're right. But I hope you didn't order anything bitter. You know, I'm not really into that."
"Don't worry. Death by afternoon is a Mondstadt speciality. Dandelion wine makes the bitterness of the sparkling wine disappear completely. You'll like it, I'm sure of that."
"Oh? Why is that?"
"You got good taste."
The adventure and the knight engaged in a lively talk about their work, their experiences and even their childhood.
It's been too many years since Akali had last visited Mondstadt. Everything seemed to be new, but from outside it nothing seemed to ever really change.
Diluc gave them another glare.
What else could he do? Kaeya was a charming as one could be and Akali was falling for it. He didn't mind it going on for an hour, at least Diluc tried to talk himself into thinking that, but the more they drank, the closer they got.
A little gesture here. A small touch there. They were friends, but this behavior annoyed him.
Usually he was the one, who had this... thing going on with the electric user. They had this sort of connection, where he didn't mind her being close to him. But her being close with Kaeya? It made him angry.
Was that... jealousy, he felt?
Quickly he shook his head, trying his best to keep a straight face.
"Wait! You really started that ruin guard just to prove your point?", Kali giggled.
"Well, let's just say, no one will ever question my authority again."
Fascinated by her beauty, Kaeya watched her laugh at his story. The feeling of a close friend from the past at his side... He couldn't even remember when he last felt that familiarity.
"That's enough."
Rough, like a hot wind hitting a wall of ice, Diluc stood in front of their table.
Theratingly he had his arms crossed infront of him.
The other two just shared a look of slight amusement.
"What have we done this time?"
"We pissed him off, that's what it is, Kaeya."
"You are both drunk."
Both laughed. They did drink some glasses, maybe one or two over their usual limit, but neither Kaeya nor Akali were drunk.
"No, we're not.", the knight wanted to explain, but he got interrupted by his friend.
"Seems like we're not welcome here anymore, Kaeya. Let's pay and go somewhere else. Maybe somewhere where we are more welcome."
Diluc instantly tried to correct this statement, but he couldn't go on about is explanation.
"That's not what I meant."
"You never mean anything, Diluc. See ya."
Kali grabbed her companion's upper arm and dragged him out of the tavern, but not without giving Diluc a last sarcastic wave.
Other guests noticed the scene, but most of them didn't. A great part of the customers had already left, that is how late it had gotten.
Cursing Kaeya, himself and even Akali in his head Diluc had watched them leave in silence.
He scoffed.
Well, he ruined it. Great. Was that the only thing he managed to do?

Jealousy - Dick Grayson Imagine
summary: titan!reader have a past with cyborg or whatever and dick is reeeeally jealous (they’re in a relationship) and ignores her and she gets all touchy and needy (maybe a little smutty)
pairing: Dick Grayson x Titan!Reader
Warning: cursing, smut and mentions of fighting.
notes: anony, i’m sorry the delay. I had internet issues, hope u like it xx
When duty calls, you come running.
The Titans were on their way to meet The Justice League after Dick received a call from Clark. The thing was, Darkseid was back and they needed to work together to stop him from destroying earth. Clark decided that they should meet to find a way to do it together.
Bruce decided to send a private jet to take you guys so it would be safer. It was morning when you arrived in Washington and there were already two cars waiting. Dick was driving one to take you, Gar, Rachel and Conner while Donna took the other with Dawn, Hank, Jason and Rose.
“Ready?” Dick asked you smiling resting his free hand on your thigh while the other held the steering wheel.
“Ready” you replied with a smile.
[10a.m, Justice League’s Base, Washington DC]
The base door opened and you got in to see Clark, Diana, Barry allen, Victor Stone and of course, Bruce.
“Diana” you ran to her freeing your hands from Dick’s as the black haired woman smiled to you hugging you back. She was always so sweet to you.
“Son” Bruce greeted Dick giving him a little hug.
The other Titans greeted the league as well. Dick was by your side now with one of his hands on your waist.
“Guys, we called you here to explain the whole situation. Darkseid’s troops were located somewhere on eart, which lead us to believe he wants to invade our planet and take all of it’s magma to apokolips.” Clark explained the titans as they paid close attention to him.
“Son of a..”Jason said.
“Watch your mouth, Jason” Bruce scolded him as he rolled his eyes to the old man.
You laughed looking at Dick, who would normally laugh with you, but right now he was too busy staring at Cyborg with killer eyes.
You felt like an idiot for not noticing sooner. The boy was staring at you ever time since you arrived.
Dick was completely pissed off. You felt his hands pulled you closer by the waist without breaking the eye contact with Victor, so you put your hand on top of his, looking at him trying to say “ignore it” but it was useless because Dick kept staring at him. It couldn’t be good.
You could say Dick was a jealous boyfriend, but never enough to escalate more than just a angry stare, he was too polite for this. But the thing was: you and Victor Stone had a little something in the past when you first got in Titans/Justice League.
He was one of the first heroes you met while you worked for league; you both hit it off pretty well.
You had a lot in common and became good friends even had a one night thing; feelings were never involved but he was a good guy and a good friend.
One week later, Bruce introduced you to the Titans and you met Dick. He trained you and the both of you spent a lot of time together and you eventually fell in love with each other.
Clark finished talking about the plan and the tension between the two boys kept growing, you hoped you were the only one that noticed how the boys were looking at each other.
“So we’ll stay here on earth, receiving and sending information to you guys in Apokolips?” Donna asked Clark.
“Yes, we will need you guys to guard the earth while we go there” he answered Wonder Girl.
“Seems like a good plan, Clark.” You said “Right, Dick?” you asked the boy trying to put his attention on you.
And if it couldn’t get any worse, Victor was now staring back at him.
“Uhm...yeah,sure.” He answered looking at Superman “We’ll give you all the support, don’t worry.” he spoke in a serious tone.
With the plan already made up, the Titans were ready to go back to San Francisco. When you were saying goodbye to the others Dick who was by your side, heard the voice of the only person he didn't want to hear talk.
“It was a good to see you again, Y/n.” Cyborg told you ignoring your boyfriend’s presence.
Dick was quiet, trying to control himself.
It wasn’t some toxic “I’m the only one you can talk to” thing, it was more “You don’t know what he really wants to do with you”.
“Hey Victor” You gave him a half smile trying to be polite.
“You are looking beautiful as ever” he replied. This was too much even for you. You knew Dick was completely able to hold his anger to solve it in home but you couldn’t be sure if he was going to keep it now. How could you even react to this?
You felt Dick’s hands gently pulling you away from Victor and him
“I’m sorry, are you trying to flirt with my girlfriend? Have you lost your mind?” Shit. Dick’s voice raised and the veins in his neck appeared for a second as he pushed Cyborg. Your mouth dropped as you watched the scene, you stood paralyzed and all of the attention in the room turned to the both of them.
Cyborg tried to push him back but he’s stopped by Flash who grabbed his arm to stop him
“Hey, hey, calm down, babe. It’s fine, let’s go home” Attempting to calm him down, your hands were now on Dick’s chest. He kept the same confronting position “Please, Dick” you were looking at him but he was so pissed off that he couldn’t look at you now, he stared at Victor stone with a deathly look.
“I’m sorry man, don’t get me wrong-" Cyborg tried to speak trying to show he didn’t mean any harm, but Dick wasn’t dumb and he wouldn’t take it in silence.
“Cut the bullshit” Dick told him before he could finish the sentence.
He grabbed your hand, walking out of the base, not looking back.
The whole way back home was silent. Dick didn’t want to talk about anything that happened. His eyes were focused on the road and his jaw was clenched, he was furious. You couldn’t help but noticing how sexy he was when he was pissed off.
You tried to put your hand on his thigh looking at him, but you received no answer.
Back in the tower, he went straight to your shared room with you hot on his heels.
You watched him put his jacket on the armchair. He sat on the bed with his elbows on top of his thighs, the annoyed expression didn’t leave his face for a minute and he only got hotter. You took your jacket off and made your way to him without saying a word. His eyes followed you, observing your acts as you stopped in front of him, looking into his eyes.
“I’m mad now, y/n. Not a good time” he told you without looking at you. He was serious about it. That much was obvious. The furrowed of his brows, the flare of his nostrils, and the hard set line of his mouth made it clear.
“I know, babe. Let me help you, okay?” You had lust on your eyes, seeing him angry like that got you all hot and bothered.
You pushed him back to the bed and straddle his legs. You started to unbutton his shirt, giving wet kisses all over his neck -which felt so hot right now- with little bites, and god he smelled so good.
He tried to ignore it and hold himself trying to punish you, but you could feel the bulge on his pants getting bigger. You rolled your hips against his member and he couldn’t keep it anymore. He put his hands on your ass, pulling you closer.
You took off his shirt and kissed him, your heart almost dropped when he switched your positions, he was now on top of you. You let a moan escape as you felt the weight of his body on yours.
“You think I didn’t know his intentions with you?” he kissed you intensely
“He thought he could fuck you good but i can fuck you better" he said in your ear with his voice choked in mix of pleasure and jealousy.
He took off your shirt while he attacked your neck, you unbuttoned and opened the zipper of his pants as the kiss got hotter, caressing his member as he tried to muffle his moans kissing your breasts. He moved away a little to take off his pants and boxers and got back making a trail of kisses from your belly to your lips. You and him were closer than ever, skin on skin. No clothes coming in-between, it was just you and Dick. You wanted to feel that love, the desire, the passion and feel him forever.
He spread your already wet pussy with two fingers, making you moan. He started pumping his fingers with rhythm making you arch your back, moaning softly, you were already coming when you heard his voice.
“Could he make you come like I do?” he looked deep in your eyes, and the only answer you were able to give him now, in your state of ecstasy was nod your head “no”.
He was on top of you again, you pressed your lips against his, looking at his brown eyes filled with lust, he stared at you with hungry eyes. He closed his eyes, placing his hands on your hips,
He thrusted into you deeper than before making you lose your breath for a second, you moaned at the same time and you felt the grip on your hips, moaning louder.
“Shh” he said moving deeper and harder, he moaned against your neck “Tell me you’re mine, you’re my girl” He slowed his moves. Dick was taken by the pleasure and you couldn’t help but surrender too.
“I’m your girl, Dick” You said “Fuck me, please” you begged for more, you needed him and he did it, he thrusted harder and harder, and you both came together.
Your sweat bodies were almost turning into one right now.
“My girl” He said kissing your lips.

15 and 18
15 - If you write OC’s, how do you decide on their names?
Just answered that one here!
18 - Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?
Oh my God, I have so many!! Beware, this is going to be a very long answer. Click on the thingy to read more!
Last year, back when I first started writing fanfiction, I had a lot going on in my mind, and at one moment I had to choose which stories I would actually work on, and which ones I would have to drop it for now. There were five stories in total, and I dropped three of them.
Two of those five stories evolved and they became When The Levee Breaks and Map of the Problematique, the other three are still unnamed and undeveloped.
I'll give you the main summary of them, because why the hell not?
The first story is a pretty fluffy one, I've abandoned it because there are already a few stories like these in the fandom and because I got too invested writing my other stories. Also, a huge chunk of it is written in the first person, because I started writing it at the beginning of the last year, and I've learned that I don't really like writing in first person anymore... Writing WTLB is hard enough already lol.
This story would narrate the beginning of Jackie and Hyde's relationship while Donna and Kelso were still in California, but there are a few twists: Eric doesn't mope around in his room most of the time, and he develops a really nice friendship with Jackie (that friendship would turn into a small crush later), and Eric and Donna would not be endgame.
There's a lot going on at first, in this story, Hyde actually plans on "wooing" Jackie once he's sure she's over Kelso, they flirt a lot and he's aware that he's going to make a move on his best friend's ex. Jackie's also very interested in Hyde, but for a while, she thinks he'd never be interested in her.
Their flirting wouldn't last long though, I had planned on making them get together at the beginning of the story (I think it was in chapter five?), the rest of the story would narrate them hiding their relationship from their friends and how close they are getting to Eric and Fez.
I've planned on writing lots of sweet friendly moments between Jackie, Hyde, Eric, and Fez. In fact, there are quite a few scenes written out already, and in one of them they're all in a circle and it's the first time Eric realizes that Jackie's not as bitchy as he thought she was. Here's one of the circle scenes I've written:
"You know what?" Jackie announced, ignoring Fez's sobs and passing the joint to Hyde, thanking God that he was probably too high to notice how goosebumps rose all over her body when his fingers brushed against hers "I hope Michael gets syphilis from a random beach whore and goes blind."
"Odds are pretty good of that happening." Hyde nodded as he took another hit "Of him getting an STD, I'm not so sure about becoming blind, but I'm sure once he gets back to Wisconsin we can convince him to stare at the sun long enough for that to happen"
Eric snickered "Yeah... I hope Donna just... Never comes back, I hate her... Yeah..."
"No, you don't," Jackie said flatly to him "You'll probably marry her if she ever does come back."
Eric stared at Jackie for a few seconds before sighing dejectedly "... yeah, you're right..."
"But, hey, we can bash on Michael some more if you like, it's fun!"
"You're right, it is fun! " Eric nodded, smiling at the petite girl sitting next to him on the couch and wondering when did he start to actually enjoy her presence.
The whole google doc for this story has over 7k words of random dialogues and random moments I came up with. I'm not going to lie, it has potential, lots of it actually, but I don't have the time to work on it now.
The story would be overall a light read, it would've been M-rated because I did start to write a sex scene, but it would be overall something funny and cute. For example, one of my favorite moments is this one where Eric almost catches Hyde and Jackie:
"Oh my God…" Eric muttered in awe, glancing at the two very guilty-looking people sitting on the couch.
Hyde and Jackie exchanged a look, they were caught. Crap.
"Is this what I think it is?" Eric said
"Look, Eric…" Jackie started to explain, but stopped when she saw the huge grin forming on Eric's face. She looked at Hyde and apparently he was just as confused as she was.
"You're watching Star Wars!" Eric said in glee "You're geeks!"
"What?!" Hyde protested and looked at the TV, where he could clearly see Leia and Luke kissing on the bridge "We're not geeks, you're crazy"
"Steven, stop," Jackie said "Fine Eric, you caught us, we like Star Wars"
This story would end in a nice place, but... well, there would be a lot of changes.
Here's the thing, I was kind of really hating Kelso (and Donna too, a little bit) when I started writing this, so I chose to write something that might be a little weird for a few people. In this story, Donna and Kelso would have a fling in California, and Eric would catch them on the spot when he arrives to get Donna back.
It's not something Eric would be able to forgive. And even after a lot of talking, he wouldn't be able to get back together with Donna after seeing her with Kelso.
Coming back to Point Place, Eric would try to make a move on Jackie, he would kiss her for like, two seconds, and she would've pushed him away and blurted out that she's in love with Hyde. Hyde would arrive at the basement a few moments after that, and Eric would be completely freaking out. It's a funny scene lol.
Things would get messy for a while, but in the end, Jackie and Hyde would go public and have the happily ever after they deserve, Eric, Fez, Hyde, and Jackie would continue their friendship, Donna would move to California for good, and Kelso wouldn't hang out with them anymore.
There are a few stories that are somewhat similar to this one, like Summer Lovin' by leoasc, One Difference: Donna and Kelso Have a Fling by MistyMountainHop, OPERATION: REBOUND by ShanghaiLily, and there are probably a few more that I can't remember the names right now.
The second story is a heavy one, like, really heavy.
I got the idea of writing this story when I was watching a Grey’s Anatomy episode, so yeah, its a dramatic one lol.
The episode that inspired this story is the one where Richard is in between life and death, and Meredith is the one he chose as his next of kin. Which means that she’s the one the doctors report to, and she’s the one who decided how he was going to be treated. Meredith took some risky decisions and they’re literally the reason why Richard is alive.
I remember that when I saw this episode, I was also reading a fanfic... Being more specific, I was reading The Right Road Lost by zpplnchick, and an idea just popped into my mind... What if Jackie was the one with the memory loss? How would Hyde deal with that in a post s8 universe?
I know there are a few fics that deal with that subject, like Steven Who? by kezztip and Redemption Road by SkittlezLvr79, but believe me, my story would’ve been waaay different than these ones.
Here’s the main plot: Jackie and Hyde talk things out, and Hyde asks Jackie if she could ever take him back, promising her that he would never, ever give up on her again. She says no, because y’know, she’s a freaking self-respecting woman, but this talk would make her think, a lot, because she can see that he actually meant it every word, and she has never seen him this determined before.
As she was driving home, she would crash her car, and things would get pretty serious pretty quickly.
Her situation would be very critical, I planned on making Hyde suffer a lot in this, guys. I’m just downright cruel to him, because I believe that nothing would hurt him more than seeing the person he loves the most going through absolute hell.
Decisions would have to be made, and that’s when they find out that Jackie’s next of kin is no one other than Hyde. After her mother left her and her father went to prison, Jackie asked her father’s lawyer to provide her with a few papers that put Hyde in charge of her well-being if something ever happened to her. She forgot about it after they broke up, and well... She is going to be very thankful for that later.
Hyde’s shocked, but very pleased to find out that he’s responsible for her, especially since everyone seems to think that her death is inevitable and that they shouldn’t prolong her suffering.
After a very enlightening conversation with Mrs. Forman, Hyde decides that he’s not going to let anyone tell him what to do, and that he’s going to follow his gut.
The next few months would be complete hell, Jackie’s situation is very critical, she would go through a lot of complications and Hyde would’ve been a complete mess. He would watch quietly as Donna, Kelso and Fez stopped showing up to see Jackie, disgusted at how quickly they just gave up on her. He would listen as Donna rambled about how what he was doing to Jackie was torture, and that he must really hate her if he’s not willing to just let her go (which would end up causing a major fallout between Donna and Hyde), but he would never question his decisions. He just knew that he was doing the right thing, and no one but the Forman’s seemed to understand that.
Hyde showed up to see her at the hospital every single day for months. The whole hospital staff knew him as “the Sleeping Beauty’s prince”, and he hardly ever left Jackie’s side.
After a few months, she wakes up, and he’s right next to her when that happens. It’s honestly a pretty touching scene, he’s just so happy and so relieved to see her awake after everything she went through, and they have a beautiful moment.
Seriously, I cried hard when I wrote that.
They would both cry, share “I love yous” and a few kisses, and it would’ve been beautiful, but the magic’s killed when Hyde realizes that Jackie thinks that they’re in 1978. She doesn't remember the nurse, the “get off my boyfriend” incident, Chicago or Sam. The last thing she remembers is him driving her home after they emptied her family’s ski cabin.
Hyde is divided between telling her the truth and losing her, or not telling her and being with her again.
He would let her think things were okay between them for a couple of days, until Eric shoves some sense into his head and he comes clean about everything. After telling her everything that happened, he also tells her that he loves her and he wants to be with her, but that he completely understands if she never wants to see his face again.
It’s safe to say that Jackie’s absolutely crushed. This breaks her, but she had the Forman’s by her side to help her go through everything, and Hyde also never leaves her. Sure, he gives her some space, but he doesn’t stop checking up on her, and slowly, they begin to form a nice friendship.
He takes her to her physical therapy appointments, and her doctors appointments, he helps her in every possible way he can, and she falls in love with him all over again.
The story would end with her making a full recovery and giving them another chance.
I've abandoned this story for three reasons, reason number one being: I was at a point where I really disliked Donna, and her character is not a nice person at all in this. Now that I understand Donna's character better, I refuse to publish a story where she behaves the way she did in this one. I could've changed her behavior, but the whole point of the story is "Hyde is the only one who hasn't given up", and having Donna acting like herself (nice and supportive) would kind of kill part of the plot.
Reason number two is: There’s already too much drama in Map of the Problematique, working on this story along with WTLB and my other WIP’s would drive me nuts.
And the last reason is... I didn’t know if people would like reading a story like this. I was afraid that some people might think that all of this determination is extremely OOC for Hyde, and I can kind of see why they would think this way.
The third story would’ve been an angsty one, and I started writing it after I finished watching the first episode of season 6. You guys can probably already guess why I was inspired to write an angsty story after that episode...
Here’s the thing: I absolutely HATE the way Hyde treated Jackie in the first two episodes of season 6. I hate that he cheated on her and had the audacity to be offended that she didn’t take him back right away. I wanted to kick his ass for acting the way he did, it was truly disgusting of him and he did not deserve to be with her again after everything he’d done.
I do like that Kelso was the one that brought them back together, but the rest of that storyline is just... yuck. I truly hate it.
I wanted to fix that. I wanted to give Jackie a very girlboss moment, and I wanted to see Hyde groveling to get her back, so well... I came up with a story idea.
The story would be a short one, it would have 10 chapters, 15 if I got too inspired, and it would consist of Hyde groveling while Jackie didn’t give him the time of her day.
Sure, Jackie and Hyde would be endgame, because it’s me and I would never write a story without a happy ending, but Hyde would have to fight for it, a lot.
@snookstheallmighty is currently writing a story that is very similar to the one I was working on. It’s called “Friday I’ll Be Over You”, and it’s pretty great! You should totally check it out later! I’ve sent her a few parts of my story draft a while ago, and I gave her full permission to use it on her story!
I think this is pretty much it... I have plenty of story ideas and many, many google docs with random drafts and dialogues that popped up in my mind out of nowhere, but these are the ones I’ve fully abandoned and will probably never work on again.

Hi, I really like your fics and was hoping you could write for Steven Hyde from That 70's Show with 10/Angst and 2/Kisses if you find the time to? Thanks, I enjoyed all your fics :)
Homecoming date - Steven Hyde X reader
a\n: it’s short but i really like it so i hope you like it too. i think i really got some show-like moments and i love when fanfics feel like an episode of the show.
trigger warnings: cursing, weed mentioning.
words count: 1122
10: “I’m worried about you”
2: Kiss on the forehead
"Steven!" I called, running down the basement stairs. "Eric! Did you see Steven?" I ask. "Who's Steven? Are you cheating on Hyde" Kelso asks. "Hyde is Steven, you brainless creature" Donna sighs. "no, i haven't seen him, why?" Eric asks. "I just.. we had a fight earlier because I said yes when Buddy asked I'd go to homecoming with him, and-" "so you are cheating on Hyde!" Kelso barges in. "Buddy is gay" Eric reminds him. "and he's (y\n)'s best friend since kindergarten" Donna adds, "plus Steven doesn’t even like homecoming, why is he getting so pressed over that?".
"I don't know" I reply, "shit. He's not at the hub, he's not here, he's not at The Photohut…". "Did you try the water tower?" Donna tries to help, "The memories of Kelso screaming as he falls from there makes him happy". "good thinking Donna, he does enjoy Kelso's pain" I say, and het out of the basement to look for my boyfriend of two months.
I get to the water tower, and in did, Steven was sitting up there, smoking a blunt. I usually hate heights, but maybe if I just won't look down, I can.. shit, this is really high. I take a deep breath and focus, finally getting to the top of the water tower. "hey, Steven" I say. "what do you want?" he sighs, letting the smoke out of his mouth. "Steven, I've been looking for you" I say. Sitting beside him. his feet were dangling off the edge, but I kept mine crossed. "really? Cause it seems like you are more worried about your matching outfits with Buddy for your date" he spits out, bitter.
"Hyde, he is gay, how many times need I remind you that? He had a crush on Eric" I sigh. "well, apparently he has a thing for Formans!" Steven calls. "STEVEN" I yell, "why do you even care? You literally said you would never go to homecoming with me!". "yeah, that doesn't mean you should go with some other guy!" he calls back, and I laugh sadly. "first of all, Steven, Buddy is not some guy, he's my best friend, and second of all, I'm not going to sit at home and watch another re-run of The Brady Bunch just cause you like to be different and despise everything that's fun! Honestly, I'm worried about you with your stupid little guy-brain that is so incapable of understanding anything that's not weed, your stupid Zeppelin-" "-hey-" "or beer! Fuck you, Steven Hyde" I say, and with that I leave. "what?" I can hear Steven sigh, "(y\n)! shit".
Homecoming evening arrives, and I put on the dress I got with Buddy. It was in a beautiful (f\c) dress that matched his (f\c) suit. The dress was just perfect, and I never felt as beautiful. Steven and I haven't talked since that day at the water tower. Did I fuck up?No. this is not my fault Steven has no braincells. If he wants to be an asshole, he can have fun with… I don't know, Leo? Eric, Donna, Kelso and Jackie – meaning all his friends, are right here dancing, and he's probably smoking weed alone.
I wonder if he stole Eric's dolls and sat them at the circle like he did that one time he got high and wanted to be in a circle while we were all busy. It was hilarious to walk in on him talking to a G. I. Joe about how there's a car that runs on water. He almost quit smoking after that incident. Almost.
"hey, (y\n), come dance with me!" Buddy says, tugging on my shoulder. "look, I know the a-hole you call a boyfriend is acting like an a-hole, which is very surprising, considering the fact he has been an a-hole for years, but-" he tries to drag me to the dance floor. "the thing is, Buddy, I'm not even sure he's my boyfriend anymore" I sigh. "that's his loss, sis, now come here and shake your sadness off, come on" he insists, and I give in.
We dance together, and slowly my mood lifts. "you're the dancing queen, young and sweet only 17" Buddy sings along horribly, making me laugh. "thank Buddy, you're the best best friend I can ever ask for" I smile. "I know, I'm kind of amazing" he said, taking my hand to spin me around. "hey, Buddy, can I have my girl for a sec?" a familiar voice says, and I can barley hear him over the music. Buddy laughs. "yeah, appreciate the pun-" "what pun?" "but you are an a-hole, and I don't want you near my best friend" Buddy says, refusing to leave my side. "well, that's not your choice to make, (y\n)?" our eyes finally meet, and he offers me his hand. "Buddy, give us a sec, okay?" I say and take Steven's hand. Buddy sighs but leave us alone.
"I can't believe I'm dancing to ABBA for someone" Steven sighs, "but I fucked up completely". "you're telling me?" I say, raising my eyebrow. He let out a small, sad, laugh. "yeah, I think you already know that. I was just... look, you are my girl and I don't want you dancing with someone else, what does that say about me?" he explained. "Well, you wouldn't dance with me and I like dancing" I say, "and it's not like Buddy's an actual threat, you know? I'd get it if I would go with Kelso, or even Fez, but Buddy?" I sigh, "the guy who was in love with my brother?".
"I know, I know, I just… not everyone knows that-" "hey, Samantha, what are your thoughts on Buddy?" I ask the blond dancing close enough. "cute, too bad he's gay" she says. I turn back to Hyde, raising my eyebrows. "that's just one perso-" "hey, Dean, I heard Buddy has a crush on someone" I cut Steven off once again to prove his stupidity. "really? Who's the lucky guy?" Dean asks, and I whisper in his ear the truth. He rushes off to find Buddy. These two needed to get together forever ago.
"okay, fine, you proved your point. I get it, I'm stupid. How can I make this up for you?" he asks. "go to prom with me" I say, "and dance with me not one, but 2 ABBA songs" I say. He looks upset but agrees anyway. He kisses me on the forehead, "well, this one counts, right?" he asks. "3 ABBA songs" "but-" "4" "god, you're annoying". Before I get to raise it to 5, he leans down and our lips connect. "fine, back to 2, but you're matching your tie to my dress" I offer. "sold" he smiles, and leans back in.

Chapter 3.5: No Moral nor Decency (Part 4)
Warnings: none
Author notes: please, believe me, action will start soon... I hope you don’t find it too long...!
"Caretaker-san,
I finally became a member of the family. My new godfather, Don Cosola, is a really kind and considerate man, who puts his relatives' interests before his own. He has a right-hand man, a Consigliere named Vilfredo Chimienti, who is soon to become his son-in-law. Indeed, he is engaged to our godfather's daughter, the lovely Apollonia. She is the sister of Gustavo Cosola, the son of the Don and my superior. He is a man with an acute sense of honour and family, but it does not make him any less friendly.
There are a lot more family members I would like to tell you about, but, then, my letter would be too long. Tonight, Apollonia will cook for us. She said it will be pastas. I cannot wait to taste the delicious dishes she makes. Then, I will fight against Vilfredo-san around a chessboard. He challenged me during the day, and I gladly accepted his offer. I do hope to win, although he is quite a good strategist. I wonder how astute he really is, but I will soon find out about it.
Anyway, I hope this letter does find its way to you without any trouble, and that you won't worry about me too much. I am slowly but pleasantly getting accustomed to my new life, even if I wish we could see each other soon again. There are so many things to talk about...
Best respects,
Kasumi."
Before leaving the headquarters of the Port Mafia, Dazai-san had demanded me to communicate with him with letters. In the sentences I wrote, he would play the role of my caretaker, someone who cared about me and wished me the best. Of course, since I could not tell such a gentle person about my occupation as a mafioso, I would have to pretend I had entered a rich family as a maid of some sort, which hid the real purpose of my letters and made me appear trustworthy in the eyes of the Cosola family. Were they to read my letters, they would notice how loyal and faithful I was. Why, it was only in appearance.
That night, right after handing my letters to a valet, I was, as expected, invited to the family's table to have dinner. As Gustavo's subordinate, I was considered important enough to have the right to share an intimate moment with the members of the household, which enabled me to personally meet the sweet Apollonia, whose name was on everyone's lips, as well as her mother, the gentle, yet strong-willed Prudenzia Cosola. Although she appeared suspicious at first, upon seeing a newcomer at her table, she quickly accepted me and even decided to dote on me as though I were her own daughter. It did not even discourage her to hear I was a burglar. Right after dinner, she managed to drag me to the dressing room to choose a dress with Apollonia, stating I could not use such worn out clothes when I was not on duty. Despite the slight twitching of her eyebrows when she saw the bruises on my body, she did not flinch and made me change. Then, painful minutes ensued, during which she tugged and pulled at my hair in an attempt to brush it and make something out of it. I smiled slightly when she introduced me to my reflection in a mirror. It was true that one's appearance could change greatly according to the situation... It was strange to see me, almost normal...
"Japanese women's beauty differs from ours, but in the end, all women possess a certain charm, which is their power." Prudenzia told me softly "I am glad these brutes of men finally understood what kind of asset they've missed all these years."
"Would you have wanted the heir to be Apollonia?" I questioned, curious.
"Donna Cosola... That does sound interesting." She chuckled "But women were not made for blood and violence, according to certain men. My lovely Apollonia was raised in innocence and purity. For the sake of preserving her naivety, she does not even speak a word of Japanese."
The daughter waved at me, a sweet smile playing on her lips, and I waved back at her.
"I see... So Vilfredo-san will take the head once the current Don passes away, is that right?"
"Indeed... But my husband still has some good years to live, so let us not talk about such troublesome matters." She said "I do hope you'll win against Vilfredo tonight. Show them what a woman can do...!"
"I will." I assured him.
For a second, I thought about betraying the Port Mafia to truly enter the Italian Mafia, but then remembered that Dazai-san never lost, and that I was more likely to die if I were to choose the wrong side of the war. As much as these people were nice, I could not afford to deceive the demon prodigy of Yokohama if I wanted to stay alive. Besides... I had sworn my loyalty to a single person, and only death could make me renegade him. I would never deflect from the Port Mafia. The Cosola family was nice, but I was expected to fulfil my mission with no moral nor decency. Such worthless matters could not make my will falter.
Vilfredo Chimienti was already waiting for me in front of the chessboard, a glass of whisky in his hand. Politely, I sat in front of him.
"The madam had fun with you, it seems." He chuckled "You are hardly recognisable."
"She is very nice..." I agreed.
"Can I offer you a drink?"
"Mmh..." I hesitated "Am I allowed a whisky on the rocks as well...? I really like strong alcohol."
"I thought you were underage?" He blinked, pouring me a glass nonetheless.
"Oh, I am, legally speaking. But in our world, age doesn't mean anything. Thank you, Vilfredo-san." I took the drink "I don't mind taking the black."
"I thought you were more of the white side." He grinned "That's amusing. But, well, it's only been a day. Let's get along and learn to know each other."
"I've never been white." I admitted "All my life has always ever been tainted by incredibly thick darkness... I'm glad I found some respite among your family."
"That's nice." He nodded.
He was a good player, experienced, whereas my sole encounter with the game had been through watching Dazai-san play against himself instead of completing his paperwork. Even so, I did know the rules and how the pieces moved, and I remembered strategies my superior would apply against himself to win. On the board, the pawns changed into henchmen, and I moved them like I would have guided the squadron entrusted by Dazai-san. It was not a game to me.
"How long have you been playing?" I was asked.
"A year or two..." I lied "In fact, my caretaker, who had taken me in when I was in the streets, had taught me very well..."
"Then it isn't surprising that you won so easily, I suppose." He groaned, bitter.
"Not so easily..."
"Sixteen moves...! Only sixteen moves, do you even realise how monstrous that is? Or am I just very bad at this...?" He sighed.
"No... I..." I felt bad for him.
His fiancee, Apollonia, came to him to wrap her arms around his neck comfortingly, and they exchanged a few words in Italian, which I did not understand.
"You were beaten by a woman, Vilfredo?" Gustavo suddenly walked toward us "Aren't you humiliated?"
"I don't understand how losing against a woman is humiliating." I told him.
"Why, usually, women are raised like my little sister. She doesn't even know the basic rules of chess... But, Kasumi, I challenge you as well." He smirked "If you win, you'll earn your superior's utmost respect."
"I suppose it isn't too cheap for a first day." I chuckled "I'm fine with it, then."
"Acting all confident when you're going to be crushed." He huffed "If I win, I want a kiss~"
"Gustavo-san, that would be improper." I noted, placing the pieces on the board.
"Then don't lose to me~"
I had considered letting him win to flatter his ego, but the prospect of having to lock lips with him was so repulsive to me that I needed to do my utmost to prevent such a horrible situation to occur. I took him down mercilessly, with an aggressive strategy, without giving him any respite.
"So, tell me, Kasumi... Were you so disgusted by my winning?"
"With all due respect, Gustavo-san, I was." I smiled slightly.
"And does that justify that humiliation you inflicted on me?" He pouted.
"I wonder..." I snickered "Next time, behave like a gentleman if you want to keep your very masculine dignity."
Vilfredo Chimienti was having a hard time holding his laughter back on the couch across the room.

Day 7: Wedding Day
*hides from shame because of how late this is* Sorry guys...
December 31. Wayne Manor. 23:59:50
Diana
"Ten. Nine. Eight."
The countdown to the new year begins and my heart flutters as I hear each number, realizing soon it'll be the day of Bruce and my wedding.
"Seven. Six."
The room is filled with our wedding party and family, including my mother. I can see she is exhausted, having been working nonstop since flying in a few days ago with Antiope, but she was quick to decline the invitation to turn in early, knowing we would have a busy day tomorrow. She wanted to bring in the New Year with me and Donna together for the first time in years.
Beside my mother stands Antiope, a glass of champagne in hand as she flings her head back and laughs at something Alfred says. It has only been a few months since she and my mother have begun dating, and my mother was hesitant to tell me she was dating a woman, but now that I see the two of them I know it was all worth it. Antiope makes my mother happy, and her happiness is all I ever wanted.
"Five. Four."
Clark and Lois stand by the door, stealing sweet kisses and whispering amongst themselves, knowing it'll be another day before they will sleep beside each other. Bruce and I had agreed to spend the night away from each other, wanting to get a bit of separation before the wedding, so Oliver had rented a house by the bay, wanting all the guys to have one last night together before the first marriage of the group.
So I had invited all the girls to stay at the manor, knowing if they stayed to celebrate the New Year like they insisted, they wouldn't want to travel back home only to get a mere few hours of sleep. It was only after they agreed had I felt better about inviting everyone over the night before our wedding, letting our rehearsal dinner extend late into the night, until we stood watching the television, smiles on our faces as we watched the countdown to the new year continue.
"Three. Two."
I sneak a glance toward the fireplace where Shayera and John stand, flirting without a care who sees. Wally and Oliver sit in front of the television, a beer in each of their hands, simultaneously watching the countdown and trying to convince Donna to visit Star City the next time she is in the states.
Charlie and her wife, who looks absolutely fabulous for having a baby two months ago, stands next to my mother, showing her photos of the baby, ignoring the countdown, which only makes Mother smile, her thoughts swirling. She's already asked me when Bruce and I will be having kids, but I fear the longer she looks at the baby photos, the more questions will be asked.
"One. Happy New Year!"
Everyone erupts into cheers and I smile as I watch everyone find a special someone to kiss to bring in the New Year, my eyes narrowing as I watch Wally kiss Donna, but I decide to shake it off knowing he has no ill intentions.
A pair of hands wrap around my waist and flip me around, making me squeal in surprise as I try not to spill the champagne in my hand. Bruce smiles and presses his forehead against mine, placing a gentle kiss on the tip of my nose, and takes a deep breath. "Happy New Year, Diana," he says.
The grip on my waist tightens as I lean into him and whisper, "Happy New Year," before I pull him in for a kiss. Our lips meet and I can hardly contain my smile as my free hand moves to rest on his shoulder. This is the man I will be celebrating all my New Years with, the man who will be by my side as I look forward to new beginnings and bright and wonderful changes.
No sooner have my lips found his is someone standing next to us, clearing their throat, forcing me to pull back from my fiance. "Save some of that for the wedding," Mother says with a smirk. Bruce reciprocates with a smirk of his own and I turn my head away, trying not to let my mother see the faint blush that has crept onto my cheeks. I know he is not thinking of the wedding, but rather of the night that is to follow, and I'd much rather not have my mother know my rather unwholesome thoughts.
"Now, it's time for the men to go," she says as she places a gentle hand on Bruce's shoulder. "The bride needs her rest."
Bruce feigns a sigh of disappointment. "What about Alfred?" he says, knowing nothing he says will stop my mother from shooing him out of the manor.
Mother only shakes her head. "Alfred can stay," she says, "but you must go."
Bruce nods and drops his hand from my waist, whispering, "Fine, kick me out of my own house," only loud enough for me to hear. When Mother turns and raises an eyebrow he only smiles widely, leans in to steal one final kiss, and rushes toward the door, where Clark is waiting with his coat.
"I'll see you at the altar," he calls over his shoulder as he steps out onto the snow covered stoop. "I love you."
"I love you too," is all I say, watching as Clark shuts the door with a small wave, before Mother plucks the champagne glass from my hand and forces me up the stairs and into my bed, wanting me to be well rested for later today.
January 1. Wayne Manor. 07:10
Diana
There is another knock on the bedroom door and I want nothing more than to shoo away the person on the other end, wishing for a few more moments of rest. Sleep did not come easily to me last night, or rather this morning, as both nerves mixed with excitement filled me, keeping me up well into the early morning. Today I am getting married. Today I become someone's wife, and although I know I should be thrilled, I can't help but wish I could sneak away and get another hour of sleep. Surely Bruce would understand. But the thought of standing in front of him, clothed in the beautiful gown Alfred worked so hard on, makes my heart skip a beat, and I roll over trying to steady my pulse for what seems like the hundredth time.
Another knock fills the room forcing a grumble from my lips as I turn once again to Bruce's empty spot on the bed, clutching at the empty sheets where my fiance usually sleeps. It still smells like him and I can't help but smile when I realize I will get to sleep next to him for the rest of our lives.
The bedroom door creaks open and my mother pops her head inside. "Diana," she calls, stepping into the room, "it's time to get up."
Letting out a groan I sit up and pull the covers from my body, rubbing the last bit of sleep from my eyes as my mother comes up to the bed and takes a seat on the edge of the mattress. She says nothing as she fiddles with the sheets on the bed, her mind racing as she realizes her eldest daughter is getting married today.
"Is everyone else awake?" I ask as I stand from the bed. I notice her nod her head slowly and I nod my own in response, walking over to my closet, where my robe is hanging. "Do we know when Donna's-" my words catch in my throat when I see my mother sitting on the edge of my bed, staring at me, tears falling from her eyes as she watches me drop the article of clothing and rush to her side.
"What's wrong?" I ask, taking a seat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
She only shakes her head and reaches up to place a hand on my face. "How have I been so busy, so caught up with work and duties that I missed you growing up." She cups my face and reaches over with her free hand, grasping my hand in hers and says, "How is my little sun and stars already getting married?"
I flash her a smile, close my eyes, and kiss the palm of her hand. "I may be getting married, but I will always be your sun and stars." My eyes open to see my mother smile and I know even though she cries, they are now tears of happiness. We may have had a troubled past, both unable to understand why the other would do the opposite of what we wanted, but things have changed. I have come to appreciate the sacrifices my mother has made for me and she has come to trust the decisions I have made for myself, including Bruce.
"Good," she says. "And because you're my child, if Bruce hurts you, I will kill him."
I let out a small chuckle as I stand from the bed, pulling her up to stand beside me, and nod. "You'll have to get in line," I say as I loop my arm through hers. "Donna and Antiope have already threatened him."
My mother lets out a laugh as she wipes the last remaining tears from her eyes, before she leads me into the bathroom. "Good," she says. "Now, go shower and meet everyone downstairs for breakfast. I will not have you passing out on your wedding day because you did not eat."
"Of course, Mother," I say with a chuckle, plucking a towel from the shelf beside the door, before the door shuts and I start the shower.
January 1. Downtown Gotham. 12:32.
Bruce
You can tell a lot about a man from his eyes. I used to think that wasn't true, that it was all just something made up, but as I stand in front of the full length mirror beside the open bedroom door, I now know it is true. Staring into the eyes of the man in the reflection, I don't see the hurt I used to carry all those years, the pain of having been the only surviving Wayne. I don't see the constant anger I harbored, nor do I see the hatred for the man who took away my parents. No, in the eyes of the man in the mirror I see hope. I see a man who is happy, who is excited to see what is in store. I see a man who is set to marry his best friend.
My eyes continue to stare at my reflection, a crooked smile on my face as I finish tightening the tie around my neck. In an hour and a half I will be marrying Diana, and I can't help but thank her gods, and every other god in the universe, for getting us here. I've been in love with her for as long as I can remember, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine we'd be here, on our wedding day, ready to make the commitment I have wanted for so long.
There is a knock on the door and my eyes glance up toward the open doorway. Clark stands there, arms crossed over his chest as he leans against the door frame, his right eyebrow arched behind thick glasses. "Why?" is all he asks as he lifts the tie that is fastened around his neck.
I assume he is wondering why we chose the hue of purple that we both now wear, but I can't explain it in a way he will comprehend. Understandably, I was also a bit skeptical of wearing purple, as it wasn't something that was normally in my wardrobe, but when Diana was able to find the perfect grey tuxedos to compliment the color, I was more willing to wear it for a few hours.
I let my shoulders shrug as I finish flattening my collar, taking the knot of the tie and jiggling it around until it is perfectly placed in the center of my throat. "It's Diana's favorite color," I say.
I can see Clark's reflection in the mirror as he straightens himself and fixes his own tie. "Diana's favorite color is blue," he states, his eyebrows raising once more.
I turn away from the mirror and give my head a small shake, letting Clark know my original statement was true. "She tells everyone her favorite color is blue," I say, "but she loves purple." It is something I have known since high school, and although Clark and Diana used to date, it seems like it was something that never came up.
Clark walks into the room, stopping beside me as he places a hand on my shoulder and gives it a gentle squeeze. "Bruce," he begins, letting out a sigh as he drops his head. "I'm sorry." It is my turn to raise an eyebrow, confused, as he continues. "I knew you were in love with Diana in college, and when you denied it, I knew I should've seen past the lie, but instead I went after her. I betrayed you as a friend, and I never truly apologized for that."
It's true. I was hurt when Clark went after Diana in college, but it was my fault. If I would have just admitted I had feelings for Diana, if I would have admitted I was in love with her, Clark and I would have never had the fallout after graduation. I'm glad we're able to have that brotherly relationship back, as I missed him more than he knows.
"In college I was not the man she deserved," I admit, knowing twenty year old me was not the man that Diana needed nor deserved. She needed someone who was willing to be vulnerable, and although I loved her, I still was afraid to let my wall down with anyone, especially her. "Beside, it's all in the past," I say, nudging his shoulder as I reach for the tuxedo jacket that is hanging off the corner of the mirror. Oliver walks into the room as I pull the jacket on, buttoning it as I watch him turn to look at himself in the mirror, admiring his freshly groomed beard.
"You ready to get married?" Oliver asks, never once tearing his eyes away from his own reflection. I scoff and nod my head, knowing he can see my action in the glass, before he winks and nods. "Let's go!" He rushes out of the room and down the hall, forcing Clark to shake his head and chuckle.
"I guess it's time to go get you hitched," Clark says with a smirk, watching as I scowl at him.
"We're not in Kansas," I say unamused. Clark only chuckles once more and shrugs. The two of us make our way to the doorway and step out into the hallway. "By the way," I say, remembering the message that was left on my phone yesterday afternoon, "Gustavo says your order is ready."
January 1. Wayne Manor. 13:53.
Diana.
My heart continues to pound as I listen to the sounds of our guests filling the conservatory downstairs. The ceremony starts in a few minutes and the nerves are finally starting to catch up to me, the thoughts of Bruce standing at the front of the aisle making me as giddy as a school girl with a crush.
There is a small knock on the door before it opens slowly, allowing Alfred to step inside. He smiles at the woman standing by the door, either Lois or Antiope, I can't remember, who is making sure Bruce does not see me before the ceremony, before his eyes glance up to see me standing beside my mother and Donna. His eyes roam over the dress and his smile widens, happy to know the dress he created for me is part of this perfect day. "Ms. Diana," he says, reaching out to hold my hands, "you look absolutely beautiful."
I blush at Alfred's compliment, letting the older Englishman, who has become the only father figure I have had in my life, brush the veil from my face to kiss my cheek. "Thank you, Alfred," I say.
Alfred looks over to my mother, who is wiping away tears for the third time today, although I suspect it will not be the last, and continues to smile. "And Ms. Hippolyta, you look beautiful as well," he says, watching as my mother glances down at her dress before returning his compliment with a smile. She thanks him with a small nod and blots the tears from under her eyes with a handkerchief. "Now, I do believe it is time to get going. Master Wayne is nervously awaiting your entrance."
I nod, turning to the mirror once more to get one last look of my reflection in the dress, before I turn to my mother. "It's time," I say, reaching out for my mother's hand, smiling when she places her hand in mine and gives it a gentle squeeze.
13:59. Bruce.
The music begins to play and I take a deep breath. This is it. I am used to being in the spotlight, so I don't know why I suddenly feel so nervous, but it's a good feeling.
"You ready?" Clark whispers, nudging my shoulder with his.
I nod, watching as Alfred comes down the stairs to join me and the rest of the wedding party, who are all dressed and ready to go. "She looks beautiful, Master Wayne," Alfred says with a smirk, taunting me, knowing I am desperate to see my fiance. "It is time to begin."
He opens the door and steps into the conservatory and Clark and I follow close behind, making our way to the front of the room, where we turn to greet the guests with a smile. Martha Kent sits in the front row, flashing me a wide grin when I give her a small wave, grateful that she is here. Beside Alfred, she is the closest thing to a parent I have had since I was eight.
Beside Martha is an empty seat, where Hippolyta will sit once she walks Diana down the aisle. Antiope sneaks along the wall, quietly taking her seat beside Hippolyta's empty chair and gives me two thumbs up, letting me know everyone is ready to go.
The door to the conservatory opens once more and Oliver and Lois step into the room. Lois' arm is looped into Oliver's as the two begin their decent down the aisle, each smiling widely as they make their way to where Alfred, Clark, and I stand. At the end of the aisle the two separate, and go to their respective sides, waiting for the rest of the wedding party to come down.
The rest of the couples come down the aisle, Shayera with John, Wally with Charlie, each standing beside the other bridesmaids and groomsmen. Donna comes down by herself, as she is Diana's maid of honor, meaning Diana is right around the corner.
The music coming from the group of musicians in the corner fades out and a new tune begins to play. Everyone stands from their seats and turns to face the back of the room where Diana and her mother have appeared, arm in arm, ready to walk down the aisle.
My breath catches in the back of my throat when I lay eyes on my fiance for the first time. She is the epitome of beauty, both inside and outside, and I can't help but let my heart flutter when I see her in that dress. She wasn't lying when she said the dress was perfect, and as I take in the lace and the fabric that covers her curves amazingly, I can't help but give a goofy smile. As the two begin to walk down the aisle, Diana glances up and her eyes meet mine, and suddenly nothing else in the world matters.
Time seems to stand still as I watch her continue down the aisle. I never imagined getting married, I never imagined being this committed to someone, but with Diana, it was a welcomed change. I want to be better for her. I want to be everything for her. There are days when I still don't know what she sees in me, but I won't question my fortune.
Diana and Hippolyta make it to where we all stand. Her eyes are still locked on mine as Hippolyta places her daughter's hand in mine with a smile, before she steps back and takes a seat in her designated chair, pulling Antiope's hand in her own, lacing their fingers together.
Everyone sits and the music begins to fade out once more, and I take the time to whisper, "You look beautiful," to the woman in front of me.
Diana smiles and says, "You look handsome," before she turns and hands the bouquet in her hand to Donna.
Alfred clears his throat and everyone turns their attention to the Englishman. "Love is a beautiful thing," he begins. He closes the book in his hand, deciding to speak from the heart rather than read an unoriginal prompt. "I've known Master Bruce his whole life, as many of you have. He is an incredible young man, determined and intelligent, and so focused on not letting the tragedy of his parents define him in the way people expected. Likewise, I've known Ms. Diana a majority of her life, and she was a godsend to both Bruce and I during those dark days." He takes a breath, trying to compose himself, before he clears his throat once more. "Bruce and Diana have a love that is so pure, so precious, many of us spend our whole lifetimes trying to achieve it."
He hands me the piece of paper that my vows are written on and I quietly accept it with my right hand, refusing to let go of Diana's hand with my left. He quickly turns to Diana and hands her the piece of paper that her vows are on, before he says, "Diana and Bruce have decided to write their own vows. Diana, we'll start with you."
Diana nods and glances down at her paper, before she folds it and drops her hand, not needing to read the words off the page. "Bruce," she begins, squeezing my hand, "when we were kids, I knew you would be a big part of my life. When we were in high school I fell in love with you. You're my best friend, Bruce, my biggest supporter, and I promise to spend the rest of my life supporting you as you've supported me. I love you, more than anything, and I can't wait to start this journey with you."
Diana smiles and exchanges the paper with her vows for a handkerchief. "Bruce," Alfred says, prompting me to start my vows.
I nod, squeeze Diana's hand and caress her knuckles with my thumb, clearing my throat as I ball up my vows in my hand. "Diana," I begin, shoving the crumbled paper into my pocket, "who would have known the little girl who punched me on the playground would end up being my wife." Everyone begins to chuckle and I smirk at Diana, watching as she blushes and tries to shake her head at the memory. "Throughout my life, you've been the one constant, beside Alfred of course. You're my best friend. You've been there when I've been a stubborn, hard headed, mean, and downright terrible person. You helped me survive college, you helped me fight for my company, and you've been there every step of the way when I needed a kick in the rear."
"You've been the light at the end of the tunnel for so long, and now that we're here, out in the light together, I'll work my hardest trying to make you as happy as you've made me." I finish my vows and smile at the woman who will be my wife in a few short moments, lifting her hand to my lips, gently placing a kiss on the back of it, letting her know just how much I love and cherish her. She smiles back and my heart skips a beat. I don't know how after all these years that beautiful smile still manages to do that to me.
"Now," Alfred begins, turning to Clark, "may I have the rings." Clark nods and reaches into his tuxedo jacket, pulling a thin box from the pocket that lines the jacket. He hands the box over to Alfred. "Bruce, take this ring and place it on Diana's finger, and repeat after me," he says, as he opens the book in his hand once more. "Diana, take this ring as a symbol of my love."
He hands me the ring and I lift Diana's left hand, sliding the ring on her fourth finger as I repeat the words, "Diana, take this ring as a symbol of my love."
Alfred places the silver band that is to be placed on my finger in the middle of Diana's hand and nods, "Diana, repeat after me. Bruce, take this ring as a symbol of my love."
Diana repeats the words Alfred has given her and slides the ring on my finger, giving me a wink as she squeezes my hand gently. She mouths a quick 'I love you' before she turns back to face Alfred, a smug smile on my face because she knows exactly how my heart is starting to race with the thought that in a few seconds we will be married.
My hand still holds hers as I turn to Alfred, squeezing it in return as I flash her a smile, watching as Alfred glances down at the notes in his hand, taking a deep breath as he attempts to hide the happy tears that are threatening to fall from the corner of his eyes. "A marriage," he begins, taking another deep breath, "is a joining of two families. It is a celebration of two lives becoming one." He glances up at Hippolyta and flashes her a smile.
"It is my greatest pleasure to join these two as husband and wife." Alfred turns to me and his smile turns into a smirk. "Bruce, you may kiss your bride."
It is all the instruction I need. I sweep Diana in my arms and dip her, earning a gasp from her and the bridesmaids standing behind her, before she relaxes in my arms and lets out a chuckle. It is soon silenced when I press my lips to hers. She wraps her arms around my neck as the room begins to clap and cheer, but I am too focused on kissing my wife to pay any mind to everyone else. It isn't long before I pull away from Diana, flashing her a smirk, silently telling her there will be far more kissing later tonight.
She gently pats my cheek and offers me another smile as I pull her up to stand beside me. "It is my greatest pleasure to announce Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and Diana Wayne." Once again everyone claps and cheers, signaling our que to begin our exit.
Diana and I walk down the makeshift aisle, past our guests who continue to clap as we make our way out of the room. Our wedding party partners up and follows us out, but I don't bother to look at where they go, as I pull Diana away from everyone. "Bruce," she whispers as she turns her head to glance at the rest of the wedding party. "Where are we going?"
I don't answer her. I only pull her to the small hidden corner underneath the staircase and wrap my arms around her, letting my lips capture hers in a sweet kiss. "I just want a moment alone with my wife," I say, "before I have to share you for the next few hours."
Diana chuckles and kisses me once more. "Who would've thought," she begins, pulling a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Bruce Wayne is now a married man."
I nod and smile. "I can't believe you married me," I say. "I don't know what I did, but I love you more than you know." I kiss her once more and she lets out an appreciative moan, running her fingers through my hair.
"I know, Bruce," she says, "I know. And I love you too."
We continue to talk, stealing sweet kisses and tender caresses for the next twenty minutes, trying to stay hidden for as long as possible. I know it is our wedding, but I would love nothing more than to stay here all night with my wife. Unfortunately it isn't in the cards, as Alfred sneaks up to where we stand, startling the two of us.
"There you are," he says, forcing both Diana and I to freeze. "Mr. Queen is looking for you, Master Bruce," he says, raising an eyebrow and I chuckle.
"Of course he is," I whisper. "Tell him I will talk to him later, but he is welcome."
"Of course, Master Wayne," he says.
I can feel Diana staring at me. "Bruce," she says, "what did you do?"
I glance at my wife over my shoulder and shrug. "I may have called Dinah and invited her under the guise that Ollie wanted to rekindle their relationship."
"Bruce Wayne," Diana says in shock. "You did not-"
"He's in love with her Di," I explain. "And he's being an idiot and doesn't realize just how much she loves him. If someone were to have made me realize what an idiot I was being in college denying my feelings for you, we would never have missed out on all those years. I don't want that to happen to him."
Her face softens when she hears my explanation. She knows I would never purposefully meddle in my friend's business, but I can't let him make the same mistake I made all those years ago. And what a better place to realize you love someone than at a wedding.
"You cease to amaze me," she says with a wide smile, placing a kiss on the top of my jawline as she wraps her arms around me and places a head on my chest.
My arms wrap around her and I turn to Alfred, who is still watching us with a wide smile. "We'll be right out," I say, promising not to keep our guests waiting much longer.
Alfred nods and turns to walk to the ballroom, stopping only to say, "And the arrangements for tonight have been made." With that he walks away leaving me and my wife alone for a few more moments.
"What arrangements?" Diana asks once Alfred is gone. "We're not leaving for Switzerland until tomorrow," she reminds me.
I give her a small shrug, even though I know I'm seconds away from explaining-it's a habit "We're not staying here tonight," I say.
"And why is that?"
Once again I shrug my shoulders. "Do you really want to spend our wedding night in the room across the hall from your mother?"
She raises an eyebrow and shakes her head adamantly. "No, no," she says, "you're right, and smart." She gives me a sly smirk and kisses me softly. "But we do need to get back to our guests."
She pulls my hand and I let out a small groan, disappointed that my alone time with Diana has been cut short. "Okay, okay," I say, "but tonight you're all mine."
"Of course, Mr. Wayne," she responds. "Let's go."
"Yes, Mrs. Wayne," I say with a smirk, as I loop my arms in hers and walk toward the ballroom with my wife, unable to help the smile on my face when I realize I am one lucky man.
@fyeahwonderbat
Well I could end it here, or I could do one more chapter with "the morning after". Let me know :)

PART TWO! SAME WARNINGS: smut, blood, gore ish, and drug abuse. SMUT
She faintly hears the roar of the bikes and she smiles. She was gonna be okay. She could still hear Kozik sobbing in the background when Tig burst through the door. His baby sister lying atop a broken chair, a spindle broken off in her leg, breaking skin on the other side, a lake of blood on the floor, Kozik sitting in it quaking and shivering.
“Christ, someone grab him. Call an ambulance, Juice grab a towel to tie off the leg.” Tig kneels in the sticky blood, caressing her head in his ringed hands.
“Alex.” She whispers, a hand meekly reaching for him only to fall into the blood.
“It’s okay baby. It’s okay.” He whispers, letting Chibs tie the towel as tight as he can to curb the bleeding until the ambulance arrives.
“I’m sorry Celeste.” A soft whisper escapes Kozik’s lips over and over again like a chant.
“Kozik, what happened?” Tig asks as the medical team stabilizes her leg and gets her out of the apartment.
“Kozzie boy, what ‘appened to the girl?” Chibs asks, resting a hand on the man’s shivering shoulder.
“I pushed her. I’m so sorry. Tell her I’m sorry.” He murmurs, sinking back into the pool of blood. Jax and Opie pull him back up, taking him to the shower and washing the blood off him.
A few days pass, Her heart racing when Kozik walks in the room, hands folded at his waist and his eyes on the floor.
“I can’t, Tig.” He turns to leave but her voice stops him.
“It’s been a year, and you haven’t returned my calls, yet you aren’t even going to visit me in the hospital?” She calls. He sniffles.
“I’m sorry, Celeste.” He whispers, heading out of the room.
On the day she’s released Tig greets her at the door. They head out together and he drops her at him apartment.
“You be careful in there.” He calls.
“There’s only two more chairs.” She giggles, heading inside to find him. There’s a needle on the table, freshly used, and no Kozik in sight. “Pretty blue eyes?” She calls. Hearing the bedroom door open, his head appears from down the hall.
“Christ, I’m so sorry. Look at you.” He smiles, grabbing her arms and swinging them wide to get a good look at her.
“You look pretty beat up. You doin’ okay?” She asks, eyeing the table.
“I’m okay. That’s from yesterday. I haven’t shot up today at all.” He nods, proud of himself.
“Aw, sweet boy I’m so proud of you.” She smiles reaching for a hug. With wide arms, her draws her in, hugging her tightly.
“I missed you so much.” He whispers, sniffing back the tears. “I’m sorry I never answered your calls. I’m sorry I let you bleed out on the kitchen floor. I’m sorry for calling you when I should’ve just left you alone.” He gushes, hugging her a little tighter as he buries his nose deep into her neck. She was warm and comfortable and everything he wanted and needed.
“It’s okay. I’m just worried about you, ya know?”
“I know, I’m going to rehab tomorrow. Will you drive me?” He asks, leaning a little ways back. She grins at him and kisses his forehead.
“I’d love to.” She pats his shoulder before heading into the kitchen to find something for them to eat.
The next morning she found him sitting in the living room with a small bag packed and a nervous smile.
“You ready for the best decision of your life?” She asks, patting his shoulders. He stands and pulls her into a hug.
“I love you so much, pretty girl. You literally saved my life.” He cries, his big hand caressing the back of her head and his cheek pressed warmly and gently against hers.
“Not yet I haven’t.” She giggles, pressing a cute little kiss to his cheek and grabbing his hand. “Let’s go, big baby.” She chuckles as she leads him out of the apartment and down to her car.
“Thank you, Celeste. I couldn’t do this without you.” He gives her a serious look. As she walks him to the door of the rehab center, her heart begins to pound. He leans down to kiss her, but she turns her head, his lips landing on her cheek.
“You can give me a non platonic kiss when you’re sober over a year. Got it?” She giggles, poking a finger into his chest. A little defeated, but he nods, chewing on the inside of his cheek.
“I love you so much, Celeste. Thank you.” He whispers.
A year passes and she receives a letter in the mail. She was living back in Los Angeles again, with her current boyfriend. Opening the letter, it reads:
Hey you,
It’s officially a year.
Is that kiss still available? Kidding, kidding.
But hey, I joined the marines. It’s going well so far.
Can’t wait to see you again sometime. Maybe I’ll be
Stationed in Los Angeles someday. Anyway, just wondered
How you were doing? I miss you a lot these days.
Really sorry about that heroin phase. Thanks for
Believing in me, pretty girl.
I love you!
Herman Kozik
Tears fall down her cheeks as she reads the letter over and over again.
Her boyfriend peeked over her shoulder to see a Polaroid picture gripped in her fingers, her other hand clasped over her mouth as she sobbed tears of joy.
“Your brother?” He asks with a smile.
“No, my best friend.” She smiles, sniffling as she wipes away the tears.
As the years went by, they lost touch once more.
“Hey! It’s Alex. Uh, you gotta come home. We’re going on lockdown and I need you home.” He informs, and she starts packing immediately. She didn’t question him. She packed her bags and got in her car heading for Teller-Morrow. Upon arrival, she was greeted by Juice and all of her favorites. Jax came over holding a baby and a squeal escapes her as she races to greet him and his little angel.
“Aw Jax!” She coos, grabbing the baby from him and coddling him close to her, grinning at the little dude and cooing little nothings at him. She hands the baby over to the blonde, gripping him in a tight embrace.
“It’s good to have you home. You should consider moving back.” He chuckles, waving his baby in her face like a carrot on a string.
“You’ll have to do better than that to get me to stay here. But that little guy is pretty cute.” She grins, poking the baby’s cheeks and getting a precious laugh.
“Oh shit, here comes Ope and Tig.” Jax warns as Opie comes jogging towards her with two kids and Donna close behind. A bigger grin broke across her face as she jumps into his arms.
“Jax was right. I gotta move home! I’m missing so much!” She cries, a few joyful tears falling down her face as she hugs Donna tightly and introduces herself to their two children. Tig waits impatiently for her to get done.
“You just keep getting prettier.” Tig ruffs, gripping her in a tight hug.
“And you keep getting older.” She croaks, gripping back just as tightly. She’d missed so much of everyone’s lives and it broke her heart. They all had growing kids and beautiful families. She wondered what her life would’ve been like if she and Kozik had stayed.
“Let’s get you inside. Got a few guys you should meet.” Tig huffs as he drags her inside. She meets Happy Lowman, the Tacoma Killer. A tall bald man with lots of tattoos, but an overwhelmingly loving demeanor; at least she thought so.
“You okay with that, Tiggy?” She almost knew that voice. Something about the gravel in it and the sweet ting made her heart skip. Ducking through the crowd to see who the owner was; she finds herself staring at him.
“Yeah, it’s really great.” Tig bites. Kozik got in Tig’s face grinning. “You want a kiss?” He asks, frowning at him. She hid a little while longer, just to be sure the man she was watching was in fact him. Herman Kozik. Pulling the Polaroid from her purse, she compares the man to the photo. The twinkling blue eyes, the same stupid spiky hair; without a doubt. Somehow time had done well by him. He’d gotten a little taller, a little broader in the shoulder, and he’d filled out well; decorating his skin in ink that drew her in. The leather fit tighter on his shoulders, his jaw was straighter and her heart was pounding so hard she could barely hear.
“How the fuck are you two not married?” Gemma asks as she steps up next to the petite Trager girl.
“I-“ she couldn’t say anything. She was too enthralled by his beauty. He wasn’t a nineteen year old kid anymore, and neither was she.
“Go talk to him. He’s got a Polaroid of you in his kutte pocket. Been asking Tig all day when you’d be here. He’s suffered enough.” She chuckles, walking away.
“Christ.” She mutters, shooting tequila before she makes her way towards him. As she got closer, her legs got weaker. How had it happened? Time had sculpted him into a beautiful statue of stone hard muscle and beauty. Finally as she tripped over her own feet, she collides into his back, bracing herself against him.
“Woah!” He chuckles, turning and grabbing her hands. Helping her up, he leads her to the bench seat, grabbing her a beer. “You’re already falling for me and I don’t even know your na—“ His mouth snaps shut. She found herself swooning at the sound of his deeper laid back voice.
“Hey you.” She whispers, chewing on the inside of her cheek as she looks up at him. His beautiful twinkling blue eyes met hers and he was home again. Nineteen years old lying on the beanbag in her bedroom laughing at her getting drunk enough to try dancing. “Are you gonna say something now smooth talker?” She giggles, poking his chest. One thick finger reaches for her chin and lifts her eyes to meet his.
“Celeste?” He asks.
“Herman?” She asks, side-eyeing him with a smirk. In one slick movement, he’s crushing her against his chest, which got wider and stronger. She swore she heard a sniff, but she didn’t care. She hadn’t felt so at home in so long, happy tears streamed down her face.
“Tell me something, Celeste. Is that one year kiss still a thing?” He asks, smirking at her.
“Herman Kozik, if you don’t kiss me right now, I might literally explode.” She giggles, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his lips.
“So what happened to platonic?” He asks, poking at her sides.
“Fuck being platonic. I love you.” She whispers, grabbing a handful of his spiky hair and kissing him harder.
“I love you too. I’ve been waiting for you to come home for so long. Tell me right now that this is just the beginning. Because I saw the way you looked at Jax’s baby. I want that with you. I want it all with you. Be my old lady, Celeste.” He begs, squeezing her hands in his.
“Herman—of course.” She whispers, letting him slide a ring on her finger with a little round diamond atop it.
“Thank Christ.” He heaves, gripping her tightly against him once more.
“Can I show you something?” She asks, unbuttoning her shirt at the table.
“If it involves any more skin showing, no.”
“It doesn’t.” She assures, pulling off her top shirt to reveal a cropped tee and under her breasts, the wings spread to cup her breasts, was his crow. ‘Herman Kozik’ written across her ribs.
“How long have you had this babe?” He coos, his fingers running delicately over the ink, tears filling his eyes.
“I got it for your one year.” She murmurs, shyly pushing her shirt back down.
“You did this for me?” He hushes, his hands snaking around her back and sliding her into his lap. His hands rest in the small of her back, his face pressed against hers. “Did you say if I don’t kiss you you might literally explode?” He asks. She nods, giving him a knowing smile. “You sly little girl.” He whispers, kissing the sensitive skin under her ear. “Don’t kiss me, or it won’t be platonic. We were scared of a word I didn’t even know the meaning to.” He laughs.
“You don’t know what it means?” She asks, mockingly offended.
“Not a clue, but at nineteen, I figured it was bad.” He laughs.
“Platonic. Non sexual.” She cackles, tipping her head back. He took advantage, his lips meeting the smooth skin of her throat.
“Non sexual. Jesus Christ. We were fucking, and I couldn’t kiss you, because it would be non-platonic. Let’s try this again, ya know, non-platonically.” He huffs in her ear, scooping her up and making his way to the room they shared at nineteen.
“Herman, I love you so much. I love you.” She whispers, kissing his chin and cheeks and nose.
“I take it you missed me.”
“I wanna see just how many tattoos you’ve gotten since we turned nineteen.” She croons seductively in his ear. Removing his clothes as fast as possible, she takes in the ink decorating his perfect skin. The S O A’ that donned his chest, her fingertips brushing over it as her lips meet his smooth chest, kissing the letters.
“Christ baby.” He huffs, fingers tangling in her hair.
“Don’t kiss me.” She warns with a dangerously sweet smile. He growls, taking her down onto the bed, his lips meeting hers in fit of heat and desire.
“Babygirl, I’m gonna kiss you so much, you’ll get sick of it.” He growls low in her ear, and just like when they were young, she arched against his body and it drove him crazy. With his eyes locked on hers, he watched the moment he slid fully into her, like a movie on her face. First her eyes grew wide, but then her lip was being bitten and her head rolled back eyes closed. He ground hard against her, and she loved it. Stopping his thrusts, she turns over on her tummy, sticking her ass in the air and pressing her head down. his tongue passing over his lips before he slides back into her at a new angle, he reaches down, grabbing a handful of her hair at the base of her neck as she bounced her ass back against him.
“Herman Kozik.” She whines as they get closer and higher. He reaches around her bouncing hips and fingers find her sweet spot, flicking and rubbing the sensitive nub, pushing her over the edge and watching them both fall into bliss.
“Christ. That was better than I ever pictured it.” He breathes, pulling the sheet up over the two of them.
“You imagined it?” She asks with a giggle, her fingertip lightly tracing the letters on his chest and neck.
“Babygirl, I thought about you under me way more than I’d like to admit.” He chuckles, kissing her lips lazily before pulling her back against his bare body.

Her Name is Mar’i
Author’s note: So after the last Ask where someone asked me to write a Dickkory Drabble, I very much fell in love with the idea of the Titans’ universe Dickkory having a baby Mar’i. This fic is testing the waters (and does not follow the end of season two at all because fuck that noise) to see how people like it. I tagged most of the characters in it even if they don’t necessarily speak. This is a Dick Kory Fic, just so everyone’s on the same page, and does not follow the cannon of my other stories. Enjoy and let me know if you’d like to see more of this cute family!
“Come on! They’ll be here any minute!” Garfield tosses Connor another streamer. The purple and gold decorations remind Hank, Dawn, and Donna think about Garth’s birthday. Somehow it doesn’t hurt as much. Rachel rolls her eyes as she and Rose read on the couch.
“Really, Gar? It’s not like she’ll remember it.”
“But we will, Rae.” Garfield’s ears twitch as the security system beeps.
Dick and Kory walk down the hall, carrying precious cargo. Dick enters the code to the elevator. He glances at his girlfriend, smiling at her. She’s so beautiful he still wonders what she sees in him. Kory’s always alternating between sweet and sarcastic that he’s not sure what to believe when he asks. He does know how much he loves her. That part’s always been easy. The ride up is easy. He rests his hand on the middle of her back, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. They get out in the living room.
“Hello?” Dick pokes his head around the corner to the kitchen.
“Welcome home!” Everyone erupts. This doesn’t bode well for them as a piercing cry fills the room. Kory rolls her eyes and bounces the newborn in her arms.
“Off to a great start I see.” Kory looks down at the fussing baby. She rocks side to side, and slowly the baby begins to calm down. She’s definitely got Kory’s coloring, with beautiful dark skin that makes her piercing green eyes stand out even more. But there’s a bit of her father in her features. Dawn and Donna immediately swoop in on their new niece, Hank just behind them acting leisurely about it.
“She’s beautiful, Kory!” Dawn beams.
“Thanks.” Kory smiles at her daughter.
“What’s her name? I know you two were going back and forth on Earth and Tamaranean names.” Donna asks.
“We settled on a name that has Tamaranean and Earth roots.” Kory looks at her boyfriend.
“Mar’i. Our daughter’s name is Mar’i Grayson.”
“No middle name?” Rachel asks, sneaking a peak at the baby. Mar’i gives a tiny yawn.
“No. We thought that was enough. Especially since on Tamaran, her full title would be ‘her royal highness, Princess Mar’i, First of her name, Heir to the Throne.” Kory snorts. Mar’i stretches out, looking around. “You want to go to your daddy, Starshine? Let’s go see Daddy.”
Kory hands the baby over to Dick. The former Boy Wonder can’t help the smile that spreads across his face as he looks down at his daughter. Mar’i gives another yawn, stretching out more. Dawn smiles, “Never thought I’d see Dick Grayson with a cute kid.”
“She is pretty cute,” Hank offers a finger to the baby. Mar’i grabs it in her tiny fist. “Too cute to be related to you. You sure she’s yours, Grayson?”
Before Dick or Kory can answer, Mar’i grunts and pulls on Hank’s finger. They all hear the loud pop and Hank swears, “Fuck! She just broke my finger!”
His shouting scares Mar’i. She starts wailing, dark skin starting to glow. Kory takes the infant just before Mar’i’s body and hair catch fire. Kory shifts side to side trying to calm her. “There, there. You were just protecting Daddy’s honor, weren’t you? Already daddy’s little girl.”
“She broke his finger.” Donna says slowly. “She’s currently on fire.”
“She takes after her mother.” Dick shrugs. Mar’i sneezes, sending a ball of fire at the wall. “She also does that.”
Donna and Dawn look at each other before bursting out laughing. Donna doubles over, “Look, we were thrilled when you said it was a girl. Because you have a lot of karma to pay for from your playboy days. This just makes it better.”
Dick can’t help but laugh along. Kory manages to get Mar’i to calm down, rocking the baby to sleep. Garfield beams as he holds her. She even opens her eyes to see him. Raven and Rose decline for now, preferring to watch. Mar’i takes an instant liking to Dawn and Donna. Connor doesn’t even flinch when she sneezes a fireball at his face. Krypto licks her little feet, making her squeal. Even Hank gets over the injury and lets Mar’i sleep on his chest for a while.
They hadn’t expected to have her in San Francisco. They’d been living in Bludhaven in his old apartment, but a team retreat brought them back. Kory thought she had more time. Mar’i had other ideas. Their beautiful healthy girl. The team reminisces on the couch about old times while Kory nurses Mar’i. Poor baby is so loved out by 7, that Dick and Kory retire to their room. They give her her first real bath at home. She hits the water with fascination. Kory watches as her boyfriend dress their baby. She’d teasingly tossed a pair of Robin themed pajamas at him, only for them to be ignored on the ground. He talks to Mar’i as he puts her diaper on, telling her about everything she looks at. He’s so gentle with his little girl as he holds her close. Kory sings her a lullaby.
Mar’i sleeps in a travel bassinet while her parents get ready for bed. Dick spoons his girlfriend so they can both watch her. He presses a few kisses to the back of her neck. “What are you thinking about, princess?”
“Just…I’m really happy. She’s got her whole life ahead of her. A life without anyone telling her that she has to be a certain thing for her entire identity. She can just…be Mar’i.” Kory smiles sadly. Dick holds her a little tighter.
“You know it’s not that easy. She’s Bruce Wayne’s granddaughter. Sh—”
“That doesn’t matter. She’s Mar’i before she’s anyone else. She can be anything she wants to be.”
Dick smiles at that. “What do you think she’ll grow up to be like?”
“Given that we’re her parents? She’s already doomed to being unbelievably stubborn. Probably very clever given her daddy.” Kory turns a bit to smile at her boyfriend. He tucks a bit of her hair behind her ear.
“Her mom’s pretty smart too…”
“Smart and clever are two different things.” Mar’i gives a tiny sneeze, a bit of fire jumping out from the bassinet. “She might be a hero. Or she might be a dancer. Or a police officer.”
“Whatever she grows up to be, there’s one thing that I know she will be.”
“Oh really? What’s that, Mr. Grayson.”
“Loved, Ms. Anders. She’s going to be loved.”
“Why do I love your cheesy ass?”
“You tell me.” He kisses her gently. They fall asleep, knowing they’ll be woken up to their daughter’s cries for food in a few hours. If they’re honest, they can’t wait.
