Ever since realizing I can listen to fantasy audiobooks while knitting sweaters, that’s ALL I want to do. It’s a problem. Send help. Or coffee.

This was how my sweater started and I frogged all of it because I was so frustrated with the pattern
I then made it again with a basic raglan pattern I really didn’t care what the color work would turn out so long as it worked out
Here it is now I got this far in two days and hurt my hand so bad I’ve had to take a break from knitting for a few days it hurt so bad :/
But I’m loving my Barbie sweater anyways I had really been wanting to use all of my pink yarn that I had a lot of for some reason
I’m planning on continuing the color work pattern down the body but I can’t be bothered to do it for the sleeves they are going to be the plain dark pink
And yes working with 4 yarns at a time is tough but there in no more the two colors being used a row so that’s was nice the only difficult part was carrying yarn up when it goes multiple rows without being used

So glad I got my Starfish and Kelp Gansy done in time for the cold weather!! I started back in April but it’s been on the back burner for a few projects in the meantime.
My last sweater was my mohair which I love— but frankly I was DONE knitting such a fluffy fiber for a while and I really wanted a nice proper grandpa sweater as a palate cleanser 😂 I’ve wanted a Gansy sweater ever since I listen to an interview with Alice Starmore on Hebridean knitting
This worked up nicely and was done mostly in the round- I dislike knitting sleeves flat so I converted the sleeves to be done in the round as well which was a very easy fix that didn’t mess up the saddle shoulder. Also, I shortened the length of the body and sleeves since I’m much shorter than the intended sizing.
I used just over 2 skeins of Jody Long’s Andeamo Lite in the color way “Moonstone”- it has a wonderful slightly toothy texture for showing off my cables :)

it’s finished!! Now that it’s all tidied up, I’m really enjoying it. It’s made from a vintage 1940s pattern in trans colors. I saw the yarn at the store and had to have it! I think it’s a bit long on me though, either that or my shirt should be untucked, or maybe I need high waisted pants. And like I said in my last post I should have knit it flat instead of in the round. But other than that the fit is really nice and it was so easy to knit.
previous post: here
pattern is: Sleeveless Pullover Pattern #S-113 printed in Spool Cotton #198 Knit for Victory
yarn is: lion brand ice cream in “cake batter”

So, more short-row research for an upcoming design lead me down a wonderful research jaunt:
I wanted to avoid the stair-step bind off on sweater shoulders, and leave the stitches live so I could do a three-needle bind off.
So, first, a tutorial on how to work shoulder seams using short-rows, from TECHknitting:
(the same works for neck lines, or anywhere where there's multiple sets of bound off stitches!)
Then, I had to remind myself how German Short Rows work, thanks to Tin Can Knits:
I find that German Short Rows are much easier to work in a knit and purl pattern - trying to keep wrap and turn short rows in pattern can get fiddly!

a diagram of a sweater pattern that I knitted a year ago.
diagram from the internet.
for convenience, and in order not to once again turn on the phone or computer, I drew a diagram on paper and made my calculations.
complex weaves in the center. on the sleeves are simple weaves, for which the scheme is not needed.

Haven’t blocked it yet, nor sewn on buttons, but I’ve finally finished something for my friend’s baby. I’ve been so hesitant over starting anything despite having numerous patterns piled up. I can’t figure out why! Anyway, if anyone has any good button crotch onsie patterns for 6-9 mo, please send me a link.

You know how I said I would show my finished sweater and then I didn’t… yeah I’ll be honest I didn’t forget I was just to lazy to do it
But here it is now! Only weeks late!
And I’m happy to announce that I have made amazing progress on the Halloween sweater
The sleeves are done and the body is coming along very slowly but I’m in love with how it looks

Knitting circular yoke sweaters is so satisfying.
Look how round it’s is!
Reading/watching tv while doing fair isle doesn’t really work for my brain so I’ve been listening to a lot of Demi Lovato and the podcast Dungeons and Daddies
