Four on the Floor
Summary: Your love is brighter than the brightest star in the sky. Stronger than Seungcheol in The Tag Going Seventeen Episode.
Bullet Scenario
Fluff, Poly AU
Word Count: 2,111
BooSeokSoon X Reader
[Mentions: Jeonghan, Seungcheol, and Joshua (mainly)]
Alright, so they didn’t get together till probably the end of BookSeokSoon promotions. Because Seungkwan and Soonyoung were play fighting, and Seungkwan got angry and was like, “YOU KNOW WHAT-- I LOVE YOU.” Soonyoung gasps and without a second thought grabs Seungkwan by the collar. Seokmin walks in, and he’s like, ‘oh my god, Soonyoung is gonna break Seungkwan’s jaw-- um, what do I do?’. When they both kiss, he gets so shy and puts down the lightstick he was gonna use to pry them away from each other. They break apart and kind of rub their necks at each other.
Seokmin is just blinking at them. Hoping one of them explains before Seungkwan tells them that he thinks he feels more than friendship feelings for the two of them, which leads to them being in a poly relationship.
The rest of Seventeen was not shocked like Vernon was for a second. He was like, “I disassociated there for a second-- What were you say- Wait, I processed it, that’s wicked. Good for you guys.”
How you came into the picture is interesting, you’ve known Jeonghan your whole life. You two grew up together as next-door neighbors. So you called him one day and were like, “Hey, Hannie, I’m in the area. Would you like to catch up?”
This leads to you meeting his thirteen friends, who he has told you in immense detail about you love to hear about the drama and their antics. He always said you would get along with BooSeokSoon. You were like, "Yeah, okay, sure, Hannie.”
Like at first, you were awkward, but when you meet the three. You all instantly clicked and were laughing up a storm [Seungcheol owed Jeonghan a twenty].
Jeonghan drags you away from them and says, “They are my friend! I planned on hanging out with them.” Leading to all five of you whining. Jeonghan drags you away from the dorms to hang out at a cafe and do some catching up.
You were charmed by all three of them. So after you finish up your pastry, you ask, “Can I know more about them?” He smirks knowing, immediately who you’re talking about, and he lets out a little laugh and tells you about how all three of them are in a relationship together. You pout because that means you don’t have a chance with any of them.
He pushes your arm and tells you not to worry so much about them anyway. You shook your head, “But doesn’t make them any less cute… or funny…” Jeonghan rolls his eyes, “Okay, well, would it kill you to ask if you could hang out with them?”
“Immensely.” He sighs, “I swear, (Y/n)ie. You are hopeless.” You blink at him, “Says the one who has a crush on his bestie and can’t go through with it because ‘what if he’s straight'. Hannie, I have heard enough about Josh to know that he’s at least a little interested. Or curious at least.” You both deeply sighed and sunk into the table. And hold up your coffees to each other. “To the hopeless!” You cheer as you clink your cups together.
When you went back to drop off Jeonghan at his dorm, Seokmin came rushing out. He was riddled with nerves, and he asked for your number so the four of you could hang out.
You immediately gave it to him and told him to tell the other two that you would like to hang out soon.
On your fifth hangout, you no longer were the fourth wheel. You were the fourth passenger in the relationship. How did it happen? Not too sure, but suddenly Soonyoung blurted, “We think you’re perfect.” Cue Seungkwan, hitting him upside the head and Seokmin nodding at what Soonyoung said. Which you were just like, “Count me in then.”
Jeonghan visibly gasped when he found out the four of you were now together. He told you he expected this outcome, but he didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
The rest of the boys were a little taken aback but not surprised at all.
Anyways--. TO THE DYNAMICS--
You are with the funniest boys on the planet if you haven’t laughed more than 50% of the day. The boys will personally make sure that is changed.
You guys love to clown each other.
Honestly, it’s usually Boo(Y/n) vs. SeokSoon. When they start acting up, you and boo go to the shared room, put on a movie, lock the door and enjoy your night together. Until like SeokSoon [read: Seokmin] caves and slip notes under the door. Which say things like, ‘we love you’. And you and Boo being petty, send them one back that says have fun on the couch tonight. Before you probably let them in at like 3 am when one of you goes? Should we? And the other reluctantly agrees.
If you and Seokmin try to pull a prank on BooSoon,... good luck. Because it is one thing to have a SeokSoon team but,... when BooSoon unites, oh god. Let’s say you guys are in for a long night, even if you guys start apologizing before the prank happens.
You and Soonyoung are a mixture of both teams. You guys will apologize but after having your laughs.
If it is three against one,... Seungcheol is on speed dial.
One time you guys ganged up on Seungkwan, teasing him and whatnot. He glared called Seungcheol, kicked you guys into his arms, and ENJOYED his time alone.
You guys enjoy clowning each other, and if it ever goes too far, like on game night.
Which all four of you are coldblooded [even Seokmin] when it comes to playing games. It’s cutthroat, and not so nice things can be said.
But when you guys all retreat to your shared room, the four of you cuddle and apologize, “Did you really mean what you said?” Soonyoung says with a big pout which leads to all of you cooing and kissing his pouty lips and telling him, “No, we love you too much to mean that. It’s just a game. We love you.”
UGHH, the dynamics--.
But if someone tries to clown one of you. Their ass will be handed to them and forced to eat it. You four are a force to be reckoned with.
Yes, this does mean you must support Soonyoung’s Tiger Agenda with your whole soul.
After all, you grew up with Jeonghan, and since Jeonghan is the number one supporter, you’ve been supporting it since day one.
“Aww, you look so much like a tiger today, Soonyoungie~ You should wear that sweater more!” [If you know the sweater I’m talking about, you would agree that he was on another level with that sweater].
“Do you think he’ll ever--” Seokmin shakes his head at Seungkwan, and you laugh. Because that’s your guys' tiger, and you will all love him no matter what.
The three of you cannot deny how good he looks like a tiger. The confidence he reeks of is insane. And that is incredibly hot to the three of you.
If one of you gets injured, oh god, the babying is adorable. You guys are coddling that person and making sure they stay rested for a fast recovery.
If one of you gets sick, expect the rest to catch it because of how close you guys are and how you guys care for each other. Seungkwan might be reluctant on either side. He will want and or give cuddles the most.
OHH I NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR DATES--
Okay, so you may be the bravest soul, but if Seokmin is scared to ride a ride, you will sit out with him. Or if you can persuade him on, he will cling onto one of you and not enjoy the ride at all.
This is usually why you guys are playing bumper cars or mini-golfing or go-karting.
“OMG! THERE IS A TIGER PLUSHIE IN THAT GAME-- I HAVE TO HAVE HIM!”
Cue the four of you struggling to knock down the battles. Out of sheer luck, you managed to knock three down in a row. And able to give Soonyoung the tiger plush.
The rest of the day, the four of you are going around and playing games and winning each other plushies.
If it’s a calm autumn day, you guys are swaddled in sweaters and going to Seungkwan’s favorite cafe. Which you pick the furthest booth out to exchange kisses in.
Holding hands on a street built for two people to walk comfortably in is interesting. Seungkwan and Seokmin in front and holding hands and having their free arms extended back and holding Soonyoung and your hands respectively while you and Soonyoung hold hands. It’s a whole square walking down the sidewalk.
Dispatch knows, but they also know they will get their ass beat if they try to leak it. Either by the four of you or by Seungcheol.
More often than not, you guys have four-way makeouts. It is difficult to do, but the four of you have worked it out. And it’s literally the best kisses. While it might be cramped, it’s full of love and super soft.
Although you would love to go on tour with them as much as possible, you still have your job. So you watch their concerts at home or go to a concert. You have special all-access tickets where you walk around behind the scenes and enjoy the background happenings.
While the three of them are getting ready, they trade off on who gets to talk to you and doing their makeup. And if they are all occupied, you're talking to one of the other boys.
But most of the time, it's Jeonghan and Joshua who you became closer with, and you guys talk about whatever is on your mind. Your three boys are so happy to see you get along with all of their members and are always like, "That's my lover!"
When I tell you, you guys are devastated over each other. One of you guys could just be standing and doing nothing, and the rest will collectively sigh lovingly. Like wow, can you believe they exist? And they quirk their eyebrows at you guys before you guys end up in a cuddle puddle.
I do mean cuddle puddle because you guys literally are a big puddle when you lay in the same bed. Limbs thrown haphazardly over one another, you guys have a Californian King to accommodate all of you comfortably.
Seokmin lives for being the middle spoon, and the rest of you like to switch places. Soonyoung likes being the big spoon most of the time but will immediately go to the little spoon with no problems. Seungkwan and you, are neutral and have no preference and usually switch every other night when they’re home, of course.
If one of you guys gets angry at the other, you will spill to each other. And then spill it to the person they are mad at or, they end up finding out immediately.
Soonyoung yelling to Seokmin and you, “UGHH, I WANNA TAKE HIM OUT--” Seungkwan appears, and Soonyoung immediately backs up and says, “ON A LOVELY DATE WITH YOU GUYS--.” To which Seungkwan crosses his arm and puts his foot out, and raises a brow. Seokmin, Seungkwan, and you exiting while Soonyoung whines and scrambles to put on his shoes. “If you’re not in the car by the time we are all buckled up, we’re leaving you.” Seungkwan.
You guys balance each other’s energies so well that just ughh makes a beautiful power dynamic. No one could come in between you guys because you have such a strong relationship. Everyone wants a love like you guys share. Because you love each other more and more each day, yeah, you may have disagreements with each other. But they dissipate so quickly that it’s like it never happened. I’m just saying no couple could beat you even if they tried. Your love is stronger than the ocean waves in a tropical storm.
To quote Petula Clark, “My love is warmer than the warmest sunshine, softer than a sigh. My love is deeper than the deepest ocean, wider than the sky. My love is brighter than the brightest star that shines every night above. And there is nothing in this world that can ever change my love.” That’s your guys' song. You guys are so in love with each other that it’s incomprehensible to the single folk.
Yes, you four did conceive a way to get Jeonghan and Joshua together and they are happy together :).

(you’re in my) system
Tumblr media
pairing: joshua hong x reader
genre: college!au, long time crush, mentions of alcohol and swearing, house party
wc: 1.9k
summary: joshua confesses to you in a way you did not see coming.
Tumblr media
“CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!”
The chanting barely makes it over the booming bass filling the room, drowning out all attempted conversations before they can even begin. It’s hot (a little too hot for your taste), and you’re not sure if it’s because you decided to wear a light sweater in march or because Joshua is practically pressed up against you, his back to your side and a red cup in hand as he’s animatedly talking to an equally inebriated Seokmin.
“I dare you…” he shouts over the music, pushing back his bleach blonde hair with his free hand. “To kiss Jihoon on the cheek. No warning nor asking for permission,” he adds quickly, a mischievous smile glued to his lips as Seokmin opens his mouth to protest. “And no backing out!”
Seokmin juts out his lower lip into a pout, his tongue stained red from the vodka in his cup as he pokes it out at Joshua. “Fine but then I dare you…” he counters, his gaze scanning the room and landing on your frame. “...to kiss y/n.”
You freeze, unable to not overhear their conversation as Joshua is mere inches away from you and they’re practically screaming at each other. Your lips pause at the edge of your cup, the sour smell of your drink circling up to penetrate your nose. Truth be told, you’re feeling a little light-headed and this should probably be your last drink.
Joshua frowns, his eyes widening in alarm as he tilts his head. “Seokmin, we agreed we’d never-”
“You’re basically sending me on a suicide mission,” Seokmin deadpans, his speech slightly slurred from the amount of alcohol he’s consumed. He pokes a finger into Joshua’s chest. “The least you could do for me is suffer a little.”
Your heart sinks as you feel Joshua’s body tense against yours.
Joshua Hong is what people would call “a college sweetheart”. It’s not like he’s super present in off-school activities or even a member of a popular frat or anything. It’s just that everyone knows him—a genuine, down to earth guy, who just happens to look like he was handcrafted by the gods, with a laugh that could melt literal icebergs. And you just so happen to have a crush on him, not unlike a hundred other people on campus.
To make matters worse, Joshua’s in your Discourse Analysis class. You’re usually seated behind him, and there’s only a tiny part of you that’s annoyed with how he’s more often goofing around with Wonwoo than following the lecture. Nevertheless, you give him your notes after class each time he asks, blood rushing to your cheeks as he thanks you sincerely.
You weren’t even sure he knew your name until now. Groaning into your cup, you turn away from Joshua and Seokmin, wishing for the ground to swallow you whole. Maybe if you make yourself small enough, he won’t notice you standing right behind him, propped up against the wall by yourself. You silently curse your friend for ditching you for Soonyoung, something she will get hell for tomorrow morning—no matter the hangover she’ll be nursing.
Joshua stills for a moment before taking a swig of his drink, the liquid burning in this throat as he downs it all at once. “I respect that,” he concedes, scrunching his nose at the bitter taste. “The only difference is, you’ve never had to rub one out after a particularly spicy dream about Jihoon and the worst-case scenario is that he ignores you for the rest of the night just out of spite.” Seokmin barks out a laugh, nearly spilling his drink all over Joshua’s shirt. He backs away to avoid a mojito shower, crashing into you with his entire body.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” Joshua starts, turning to profusely apologise to whomever he just bumped into. You blink at him, trying to hide that he startled you.
Casting your gaze downwards, you raise your cup in his general direction. “It’s okay,” you mumble, trying not to make eye contact with the guy in front of you. It’s dark in the room, but his eyes are too bright and your skin is too hot for comfort. There’s a couple making out right next to you, leaving you trapped between Joshua and whoever’s face is being eaten (if you had to take a guess it’s probably Junhui). The only difference being now he’s facing you and there’s no way you can hide how flustered you are.
Joshua just wants to die on the spot. Disappear into oblivion, forgotten by all of mankind. The realisation of the words he just so accusingly uttered at Seokmin and the fact that you were there - behind him - all along, makes him want to run out of the room and never look back. You still as your name falls from his lips in embarrassment, and you wish you’d never come to this damn party at all.
“I-I don’t know how much you heard,” Joshua starts as Seokmin looks up at him in what could be described as half horror, half amusement, and decides to make himself scarce in silence.
“I don’t know what you mean.” Your voice is much more steady than you feel. “I only just got here on my way to the kitchen.” You lift the empty cup to Joshua’s face in a demonstration of how in need of a new drink you are. He’s pretty sure it’s the booze talking when you turn to leave and he stops you, wrapping his hand around your wrist. Still, he doesn’t speak, so when you lift your gaze from your wrist to his face in a questioning frown, he panics.
“I like you.”
Joshua blinks a few times before realising what he said.
“You… what?”
“I.. uh,” he sputters, trying to slow down his whirring thoughts—the alcohol acting like a kaleidoscope scattering every bit of whatever is left of his dignity. “I.. Like you?”
He feels like an asshole springing this onto you out of seemingly nowhere. Especially considering he literally just confessed to jacking off to the thought of you, but he figures he’s got nothing to lose. What you don’t know is that Joshua never pays attention in Discourse Analysis, despite how interesting he finds it to be, because you’re too distracting. Because he likes the way you sigh in feigned disappointment when he asks for your notes after. Because he likes the smell of your perfume and the way you click your pen when you’re focussing on processing new information. Wonwoo hates it, and more than once has he had to stop his friend from pulling the pen out of your hand and throwing it across the auditorium.
“Wait, no, I didn’t mean for that to sound like a question.” He averts his eyes, unable to look at you without his face burning. Or maybe that’s because of the vodka. “I’m pretty sure I do. I mean, I do!” Fuck.
You stare at him as he continues to make a fool of himself, not sure how to respond. Joshua is always so cool and collected, and seeing him lose his composure like this front of you is—
“Joshua,” you stop him, breath hitching in your throat as your eyes lock again. “Stop talking. Just..” You sigh, trembling. “Stop.”
Joshua’s eyes flicker over your face, not able to read your expression. Suddenly the room feels too small and his cup is too empty to deal with this. He opens his mouth to apologise, but you put your finger to his lips, effectively shutting him up. “Listen,” you start, and you’re not sure where this confidence boost is coming from, but you enjoy the way he leans into you as you turn, your palm pressing against his chest. “I don’t appreciate being used for a dare.”
“I wouldn’t-”
“I’m not done.”
The irregular bass reverberating through the air synchronises with your heartbeat, and you can feel Joshua’s chest rising and falling in the same rhythm. Silence falls between you and for a moment, eyes locked and bodies touching, time around you slows. Whatever you wanted to say escapes you as Joshua snakes a hand around your waist, resting at the small of your back. He pulls you closer.
“I wouldn’t kiss you unless I wanted to.” His voice is soft and smooth against the shell of your ear, despite having to speak up. “I apologise if I made you uncomfortable in any way.”
You contemplate how to respond. Joshua’s hand burns into your back, and you find it hard not to drown in his eyes as he stares you down, expectantly. “You did,” you admit, not wanting to start whatever this was under false pretences. Joshua swallows, briefly glancing at your lips and back. There’s another pause before you move your hand to his neck, resting at the nape and giving it a soft pinch. “But if you’re going to keep staring at me like this and not kiss me, it might actually drive me crazy.”
You don’t know what you expected. Maybe you were waiting for his lips to crash into yours impatiently, pushing you up against the wall in a long-awaited act of passion. Maybe the months and months of pining after Joshua Hong made you slowly but surely lose your mind. Maybe you were already there.
But Joshua smiles, cupping your face with both hands in such a gentle manner you'd think you were made out of porcelain. His lips are soft as he presses them onto yours, slowly feeling the way they mould to your mouth. He only breaks contact for a split second, just long enough to ghost over your skin and brush his nose against yours before pulling you back in, and you feel like your heart may burst.
You don’t know how long Joshua has been kissing you for. It may be five minutes, it may be twenty, but it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters right now but the way Joshua is holding onto you, breathing you in and savouring the taste of you. Not even the way your friends are staring at you, wide-eyed and a giggling mess. Someone whistles loudly but you’re too caught up in him to notice.
“Do you guys ever breathe??”
Joshua pulls away from you, smiling from ear to ear. You’re about to smack a red faced Soonyoung in the face for ruining The Moment but Joshua lets out a melodious laugh as he stops your fist from raising. His fingers wrap around your hand, holding it until you untense enough to lace his fingers with yours. He presses a kiss to your knuckles. “Soonyoung,” he starts, raising an eyebrow and lowering his tone of voice, “I’ll give you a headstart if you start running right now.” Joshua turns to face Soonyoung with a dangerous glint in his eye and the younger’s smile falters.
“Five... Four…”
Soonyoung releases an incredulous huff of air and pretends to bow out before raising his cup to gently knock Joshua on the forehead. “See ya!”
Your eyes follow Soonyoung as he meets your friend, who gives you a suggestive wink before grabbing him by the collar and pulling him into the next room.
“So,” Joshua says, slightly stretching out the vowel. He lifts your chin with two fingers, his thumb caressing your jawline as he pulls your gaze back to him. “Where were we?”

Burning
Tumblr media
pairing: minghao x g.n reader
genre: fake dating, secret admirer au, slow burn kinda pining au, there’s your usual angst and fluff, some humor but yeah heheh
wc: 2546
summary: you've been getting random letters and gifts from a secret admirer that you knew nothing about, but something about them seemed familiar. however, how could you even find a way to find them to reject their feelings when your best friend asks you to play his fake significant other to win over his crush?
a/n: IT IS IIIIIII YOUR SECRET SANTA @viastro :))) i was absolutely shitting myself when you kept asking me if i had you and i was like hOW THE HELL DID SHE KNOW??? but anyways, i hope this really slaps you hard in the heart bro and i am so sorry that this is not my best work cause i’ve been so busy HUGOSGFNOEAGFOAE i love you lots and wish you special hugs and cuddles <3
Tumblr media
maybe it was someone that you knew that could’ve been pranking you in this very moment. there was no way that you could actually have a secret admirer, right? after getting these random poems and lyrics that were written on little colorful letters in perfect handwriting, you were sure that there wasn’t a possible reason that someone could be sending it to you. you weren’t special.
“y/n! what are you looking at?” you hear someone call from behind you and turn to see that it was one of your friends, Minghao.
you give him a soft smile as you showed him another letter that you’ve received this week, the fifth one in a row. his eyes sparkle in amusement as you watch him skim the poetic words that were written on the paper before handing it back to you.
“they sound quite romantic, in all honesty.” he replies, giving you a warm smile as you nodded in response.
“yeah they do,” you reply as the thoughts that you were echoing in your mind continued to run around your head.
but they aren’t you.
Tumblr media
It was another day that you were finally going to confess to your crush when you saw him already walking down the hall to meet you at your locker. There was confusion on your face when you noticed how distressed he looked in the moment and it wasn’t something normal for you to witness when it was about Minghao.
He was usually composed, as you were the one that was never at peace with yourself when all that you have been getting is letters and gifts whenever you walk into your literature lecture hall. However you were curious and slightly worried at his phase in the moment, seeing as though he seemed out of breath and you assumed that he must’ve ran here from his previous class to catch you out of your recent math class that just ended.
“I need a favor,” He breathes out softly and you wait for him to catch his breath before looking at him expectantly to finish his thought, knowing that there was never a time that he asked for favors, which meant that this must’ve been serious.
“Is everything okay?” You ask quietly and he shakes his head in response, looking up at you momentarily as he placed his hands on top of his knees.
“I need you to play my fake significant others for a few days, because this person is so close to being a stalker and she won’t back off if it’s you.” He breathes out as you look at him in confusion while having difficulty processing with the words that left his lips.
“You need me to, what?”
You remember him mentioning a couple months back when you started the spring semester of a girl that really liked him, to the point where she was willing to do anything for him at all. However, it seemed as though it must’ve been getting out of hand considering he was willing to run all the way to the other side of campus to find you, which meant that it was a serious matter.
“Why can’t you just file a restraining order on her?” You ask him in confusion, walking with him back to your shared apartment on campus while you listened to him explain his side of the story from what must’ve happened to him.
You listened to him intently, wondering why someone must’ve gone through all that trouble to show someone that they were interested in them, when you remembered today’s letter that you’ve received from the person that leaves their name with the line of an infinite symbol. It was selfish of you, you think to yourself, to not like the person’s way of trying to get your attention, but you couldn’t help but not focus on them but instead your best friend.
The one person that you could ever harbor feelings for.
It happened on a winter night after finals this year where you weren’t caring for your physical health, not eating proper meals or sleeping enough to study and help ace your exams. It wasn’t until Minghao showed up at your bedroom door with takeout, some tea and bad rom coms while cuddling together in your bed that night you recognized the blooming feelings for your best friend.
“So you want me to pretend to be your significant other?” You spoke slowly, speaking up after he finishes to give him a look of amusement and he nods in response, letting out a breath knowing that he was upset for having to ask for a favor with you until he lights up with an idea.
“It can help you find your secret admirer! You know, like they can see us together and they either finally confront you and tell you your feelings thinking that it’s too late or they just move on.” He points out and you hum in response, contemplating on which side of the bait to take onto the challenge but he did make a good point.
“So we start tomorrow then?”
Tumblr media
The following day you notice that at the front of the lecture hall of your class once again stood a bunch of flowers and different gifts awaiting for you as your professor had already given you the familiar look of amusement. Handing you the new note that was yet to be read today, you looked at the neat penmanship that was sprawled onto it and read it thoroughly as you could feel heat rush up to your cheeks while reading it.
i heard that you were now dating minghao, the arts major, and i wanted to say congratulations. it seems as though i was too late and i understand that i should’ve confessed sooner. i wish the two of you all the happiness in the world, and maybe someday i will show you who i am and we can be just friends.
i’ll be rooting for you from the sidelines, y/n!
Marked with another infinite sign, you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as you closed the envelope in your hands, putting it into your bag when suddenly you felt someone’s presence behind you. Turning to see Minghao close by, he gives you a small smile until he notices the gifts nearby, raising an eyebrow at the sight of it when you move aside to show him today’s gifts.
“They said that they’ll back off because we are ‘dating’.” You say while putting air quotes around the words dating and he lets out a soft chuckle before taking your hand into his just for a moment.
“I mean, we do have to act like it because of the person standing at the door.” He replies and you look over his shoulder slightly to see the girl that had been stalking him pretty recently, already giving you a death glare as you could tell that she was pretty upset at the sight in front of her.
“It’s only for a couple months right? Nothing more than that, and no kissing in public?” You reassured after referencing the wishes that you wanted to put in terms of barriers between your fake relationship, knowing that it was all going to be fake and fabricated from your imagination.
“Just as long as she’s over it, and you’re comfy.” He replies and you nod in response, taking your seats in time for the lecture as your hand was still being held in his.
The feeling of your hand in his made your cheeks heat up at the proximity considering he continued to hold it throughout the entire of your lecture along with the rest of the day. It was something so minimal that you didn’t expect for it to mean a lot to you at all, nor did you think that it was a big action of affection where it was possible to produce butterflies in your stomach.
You felt like you were spiraling even more.
It wasn’t until it was finally at the end of the day that you made it back to your shared apartment that the two of you decided to take a break from the hand holding and crash on the couch with takeout on the table.
“So your secret admirer no longer wants to show up?” Minghao suddenly asks as he eats the general tso chicken that was on his portion of rice, and you hummed in response, taking a bite of the vegetable dumpling that you ordered for ‘balance’ earlier before turning to look at him with a confused look earlier.
“They said that they’d support from the sidelines, but they want to be friends someday if they reveal themselves,” You say after chewing the rest of your food down and let out a frustrated breath until you spoke up once more after taking a sip of your water, “The only thing is… their handwriting looks so familiar and I can’t put my finger on whose handwriting it is.”
He lets out a quiet hum as the two of you continue to eat in the small silence while your mind ponders all the letters that you received from the secret admirer. You knew that they were an art major and that their signature ended with an infinite sign, along with certain things that they always pointed out about you that you never knew about yourself.
They began to sound like they were a part of your close circle, when you thought about it more and wondered who’s handwriting could match the one of your secret admirer. However, your brain could only come up with nothing up until the moment that you were snapped out of your mind with the stinging sensation of Minghao flicking your forehead.
“You’re zoning out again, and it made you look constipated.” He bluntly says with a grin on his face, making you let out a noise in retortion when he suddenly feeds you an eggroll to stop the arguments that were ready to spill out of your mouth.
How to not pretend that your heart was not burning because of your unrequited feelings for him? A challenge that you were willing to take for the next upcoming months that you were yet to discover.
Tumblr media
You regret the words that you had said back a couple weeks ago when you thought that you could keep your feelings in control. It was everything that you wanted to bite back, especially since the winter season was now in session and that it was close to the holidays that were yet to arrive.
There were no more gifts from your admirer but rather from Minghao, as he was still pretending to be your fake boyfriend to scare away his stalker. The only thing confusing you was that they never showed up ever since after your Thanksgiving break, making you wonder why Minghao was still keeping up with the act when you knew that he should’ve stopped the fake relationship at the moment.
It all ended up in the cafe that you were at, looking outside to see the snow that was falling down from the sky and watching how couples walked up and down the streets, hand in hand as they were warm with the other’s presence. You wished that yours were that genuine as you struggled to find the right words to tell your best friend that you were in love with him, and that you didn’t want to keep the act going.
“Why can’t I stop myself from falling for you?” You breathe out quietly more towards yourself as you take a sip of your coffee, up until you see one of the workers from behind the bar walk up to your table to slip you a napkin with stuff on it.
“Someone called in and told me to give it to you.” They said and you recognized him to be a classmate of yours, Jun, from your art studies class.
Watching him walk away in silence, you furrowed your eyebrows as you wondered what the note could be when you started to read it. The handwriting was familiar and you were confused as to why it matched the secret admirer’s when it was telling you to meet at the park that was close by to your apartment, making it even more contradicting as to who they really were.
Did they want to meet you now?
Grabbing your jacket, you decided to leave the cafe and go to the park nearby your house like it said to with anticipation in your veins. There was something about the rush that ran through your system that made you want to believe that it could’ve been Minghao, but you were also scared of the idea of it being someone else, since you could’ve bear the idea of rejecting someone else’s feelings; the feeling itself already being unbearable to go through.
After a while, you finally do make it to the park and you take in the beautiful scene of the white snow surrounding you. The coldness of the wind nipped at your skin as you forgot to bring your scarf, but you didn’t mind it as the burning of your heart and cheeks from the thought of meeting your secret admirer was still in your mind.
Until he shows up.
“Minghao? What-”
“Surprised to see me?” He whispers softly, hands in the pockets of his coat when you were finally piecing it together in your head and everything made sense.
“It was you the whole time?! Why didn’t you just confess to me, and let me embarrass myself the whole time?” You asked while letting out a small laugh as you reached one of your legs to playfully kick him when he laughs as well, shrugging in response as you watched the snowflakes fall into his hair.
“I didn’t know how to tell you, since you were my best friend. Besides, I thought that fake dating would’ve been a solution to my stalker problem, which was why I stopped sending you gifts as infinite the moment we started.” He replies and you smiled a bit at the fact that he was being a little too much in this very time that you were standing in front of him.
“So what? You just decide to torture me and make me believe that we were in a fake relationship, so that the both of us can avoid confronting the other about actually dating?” You retort, suddenly feeling the sadness of the missed weeks that you both cou;d’ve actually dated if you’d told your affection towards him sooner.
There was a beat of silence that passed by, in which you could tell that your breaths were becoming one with the other in the moment that you were staring at one another with the snow falling around you. However, it was different as you could tell that there was now a spark that was burning in each of your hearts, ready to become brighter right as he finally asked you the question that you had finally been waiting for him to ask, in which you didn’t hesitate to answer in response to it.
“How about we date for real this time? Second time’s the charm, am I wrong?”

Jeon Wonwoo is your best friend for life. You two met just before the two of you were supposed to depart for college. The two of you declared that the term platonic was the exact terminology to describe your friendship. You two were each other’s wingman, sworn protectors, and so many more. So it became a wonder, a great mystery when the two of you starts to realise that the line between love, and being in love is a fine one. Wonwoo best friends! to lover inspired by Zayn’s Tightrope.
i. We Should Thank Seungkwan
messages
15:46
Seungkwan boo: hey loser. What are you doing today? Probably nothing I shouldn’t ask. I’m going to eat out with a couple of my friends tonight. You should come and stop being such a caveman. See  ya.
y/n: when? What should I wear? What friends?
Seungkwan boo: at 6, we’re going to a movie first at the mall. They’re my school friends. And they’re cool don’t worry. Be ready I’ll come get you.
y/n: ????? Ok
Seungkwan was a friend you, almost quite literally, found on craigslist. At the time you met Seungkwan, you were struggling with SAT and college application. Wanting to get into one of the top 5 universities didn’t help either. Equipped with wits, and endless resourcefulness, you found Seungkwan’s ad on craigslist. He was offering himself to be an SAT tutor, claiming that he almost graduated as valedictorian. After a quick search of his social media, Boo Seungkwan turned out to be enrolled in one of the top private schools in the country. You decided that he looked like a legit tutor that could help you ace your college application, and enlisted his help. As it turns out, Seungkwan was a better friend than he was a tutor. He was always hanging out with you at your house, or at his, telling the perfect jokes where he reiterates funny stories of his schoolmates—whom you never met—in great detail. You liked hanging out with Seungkwan, it would’ve been so much better if you have met him earlier, you thought.
That night was like no other. Seungkwan had never asked you to meet his schoolmates before. You’ve only seen their pictures on Seungkwan’s instagram posts, and have only heard of them from his anecdotes. All you know was that he had a large group of friends, and that they’re supposedly really fun. When Seungkwan showed up on your doorstep, he was eerily excited. He had a huge grin stamped on his face, and a Prius waiting behind him with the engines on. “I’m so excited for my friends to finally meet each other! You know y/n, I’ve been telling these fools that you would be a great addition to our friend group but they weren’t having it.” Seungkwan gestured to his friends inside the car. “Their loss, not mine.” You told him. “That’s the spirit!” He chimed.
When he finally shoved you into the backseat, and himself into riding shotgun, you finally had a look at the infamous Seungkwan’s friend group. There were a total of 5 people in that car, including yourself. You were stuck in the backseat, with two other guys you absolutely had never seen before. “Everyone, this is Y/N! She’ll be gracing us with her presence tonight.” That remark made you blush, and chummy in the gut, feeling the room temperature about to get awkward. You were always kind of anxious about meeting Seungkwan’s friends, fearing they decided they didn’t like you at the end of the day. “Hi.” You said awkwardly, waving your sweater paws lightly.
“You know, y/n. I always thought Seungkwan made you up just so he can ditch us lately. Nice to meet you though, I’m Soonyoung.” The boy sitting at the other side of the seat said by way of greeting. “Yeah, I always doubted you were real. I’m Vernon, nice to meet you.” The boy next to you said shyly. He was good looking, and had the faint smell of aftershave. “Yah! You guys are always on my neck it’s annoying.” Seungkwan chimed in from the front. And that’s how you met Wonwoo. Even if he didn’t made the introduction right then and there, you finally had a good look at him when the group finally arrived at the mall. He straightened his blazer before he reached out his hand to you, and with his baritone like deep voice announced that his name was Jeon Wonwoo.
“Wonwoo! Y/n is going to go to NYU this year! I was helping her with her application remember?” Seungkwan said in the middle of gulping down his cola. Your heart leapt when he mentioned NYU, still berated with the anxiety of college entrance procedures. “You are? Me too! What are the odds. Man I sure hope I get accepted though, it would suck if I didn’t.” “NYU is famous for its film school though, are you majoring in film?” This was the first chance you got of a private conversation with Wonwoo. “Nope. I’m majoring in English lit. Are you taking film?” “Yeah, I do actually.” You liked Wonwoo immediately. You remembered thinking his presence was so still, and calm, so calm that it softened your rough edges, and calmed your anxiety. “I hope I got accepted though. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t” You told him. Wonwoo shrugged lightly, and nonchalantly adds, “You’ll get in. Trust me.” You’ve never trusted zodiacs, or tarot reading, or anything of the sorts. But the way Wonwoo said it, his deep set cat like eyes piercing into you, that day you decided you were going to trust Jeon Wonwoo and whatever he said.
The next time you met him was when the two of you settled into orientation day at NYU. Wonwoo lived in a dorm at campus area, and you got your own place 5 minutes away from him. The two of you were so delighted when you met each other that day. Wonwoo remembered thinking it was like a match made in heaven. Being the quiet, shy, introvert that he is, Wonwoo relished the idea of having company when venturing into a brand new territory. He secretly wanted to held your hand the whole time but refrain from doing so. That day, Wonwoo took you to eat at a wings joint near campus, and the two of you laughed your asses off listening to Wonwoo’s anecdotes about Seungkwan. Lips smeared with barbecue sauce, Wonwoo ended his sermon about Seungkwan with a statement that you had etched into your memory until today. You and Wonwoo had fought about a number of things, which band was better, which movie was better, which tie he should buy. Sometimes he changed your mind, and sometime you changed his. But on this specific issue, you have never changed your opinion about because you had agreed completely. That night he said, “we should really thank Seungkwan though. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have met each other and I wouldn’t have a friend at campus. Who would’ve thought he would be a blessing?” The two of you have never stopped talking since then.
ii. The Tale of Two Roommates
“Won!” You banged at Wonwoo’s dorm room at exactly 7 pm. The two of you were supposed to hang out at the library, studying for finals. “Just a sec!” You heard Wonwoo called from inside the room, and couldn’t help but wonder what is taking him long enough. Contrary to what you expected, when the door finally swung open it wasn’t Jeon Wonwoo that was at the other side of the door. It was Wonwoo’s roommate, Kim Mingyu, if you had remembered correctly.  “Oop! Sorry to startle you. Wonwoo is going to take some time, you better come in.” He said sweetly, a smile was breaking on his lips. Mingyu was kind of cute, and you wondered why Wonwoo never mentioned that fact. “Thanks! Um, Mingyu is it?” “Correct! I suppose Wonwoo have mentioned me?” Mingyu had eyes like sugar and caramel, sweet. “Only in passing.” You shrugged lightly. Mingyu proceeded to sit on his bed and fiddled his laptop.
“I hope you don’t mind me blasting a song through my laptop? I lost my headphones a couple of days ago.”
“Yeah no problem! This is your room anyway.”
“Just between you and me,  I lent my headphones to Wonwoo and I could swear he had never given it back.” Mingyu said, not looking mad at all, instead his visage was decorated with a dubious grin. Implying that him and Wonwoo are close enough to make fun of each other. You continued to wonder why Wonwoo never properly introduced the two of you. The person in question was still in the bathroom, hell, only God knows what he’s doing in there.
You had thoughts that Wonwoo was going to be taking too long, and the library is going to be crowded by the time you two got there, but in all honesty he was unknowingly doing you a favour. As you sat on Wonwoo’s bed on the other side of the room, Mingyu was casually playing music by different artists. His tastes ranges from electric music, dance music, to popular songs you often hear on the radio. Your heart skipped a beat only when he glances at you from across the room, and replayed the song that was playing before. It was from Arctic Monkey’s 2013 album, a song you often play when you were in the mood to fall in love. The song, titled Knee Socks, was dripping through the speakers, and Mingyu caught your head bopping along with the beat. “You know this song?”
“Yeah, it was pretty popular when it came out didn’t it?” You added. This time you held Mingyu’s gaze. “It is actually! God, I feel so dumb playing this song now. It feels so outdated.” You chuckled at that. What does an attractive man like Mingyu had to fear? He began to talk to you about the songs he played after Arctic Monkey’s famous ballad was over. And you realised that Kim Mingyu, had held your attention completely. There was something about him that reminded you of chocolate covered caramel. When Wonwoo finally came out of the bathroom, he had looked unusually dashing. His face was completely bare, save for his round eyeglasses he never took off. He was wearing a v-neck t-shirt that shown his perfectly sculpted collarbone. And his wet hair was still slightly dripping. Not that you had noticed any of this, because that night you were completely smitten by Kim Mingyu.
Since then, you’ve found yourself making up a string of unusual reasons to come over to Wonwoo’s dorm. Either to borrow a charger, borrow Wonwoo’s laptop, anything, just so you have an excuse to see Kim Mingyu. It was between your 5th to 6th visits when Mingyu finally asked you out on a date. Wonwoo, being Wonwoo, always warned you against it. “Be careful! I hear he has a reputation.” It’s always be careful this, be careful that. You only started to wonder if Wonwoo was making some of those things up. As reality goes, Mingyu turned out to be one of the sweetest guy to exist. He was always walking you back to your place, even if that meant he had to take a 5 minute detour. He was always careful of your feelings. He never disregarded anything you said. The first few months, your relationship with Mingyu was perfect. You hung out with him in his room, which gave you the additional advantage of hanging out with Wonwoo too. You made Mingyu hot chocolate when he’s craving for one, and the list goes on.
But some stories are not only about you. When you first started dating Mingyu, Wonwoo was always skeptical about it. He was never quite sure about the odds of you two being together. But when it looked like it was going perfectly, Wonwoo’s frown began to cease. His doubts replaced with another feeling. Wonwoo couldn’t quite give the feeling a name, he just knew it when he felt it.
The first time was when he walked into the two of you cuddling on Mingyu’s bed. It was not like Wonwoo was seeing red, but it almost seemed like he did. He felt the tiniest pinch inside his gut, but no words were registered to explain the phenomenon. After that, he only dreaded the thought of seeing the two of you together. It was not as if he didn’t like seeing you happy, he did. He completely, wholeheartedly did. He just preferred he didn’t have to see it.
iii. You Shouldn’t Build Houses Out Of People
It was nearing the end of your second year in college when you woke up in Wonwoo’s arms. You and Wonwoo stayed being the best friends that you always were. The year that has passed only made the bond stronger. There has been an additional list of activities that you and Wonwoo had shared without making it awkward because you two are almost closer than any friend. Going out late at night for McDonalds, hanging out at his dorm, catching a midnight movie premiere together. It was always Wonwoo this, Wonwoo that, if not Mingyu this, Mingyu that. Wonwoo had hugged you, braided your hair, picked you up and swung you around when your short movie won a college award. You had hugged Wonwoo, caressed the top of his head, squeezed his hand when you get nervous. Anything and everything. You had stayed together with Mingyu too, the whole time. You caught yourself repeatedly saying a prayer for Wonwoo and Mingyu’s presence in your life.
This is where the chapters started to get ugly. Love stories, they tend to get ugly before the main protagonist had any idea what they had been seeing. The same pattern you had found happening with your relationship with Mingyu. It was not as if you didn’t love Mingyu, you do. And he loved you too. But as time strengthen some relationships, yours only wore it down. Mingyu was constantly distracted by his college, his devotion to his music projects, his friend group that doesn’t include you and Wonwoo. This is when you start to realise that love was not a given. It was supposed to be a companion you were supposed to caress, feed and entertain. It was a guest, that came knocking into two people’s heart. And when the people in question started to be too busy to take care of it like they used to, love began to walk out the door. And so then, when Mingyu began to choose hanging out with his band, instead of you, or when you made little effort in making Tuesdays with Mingyu happen again, that was when love began to fade into the background.
The breakup was harsh. It was not as if you had been too numb to not feel broken up about ending a year long relationship with Mingyu. You had silently wept for falling out of love, you often question what you could’ve done to make it turn out the other way. You and Mingyu was sitting at the bench in the dorm lawn. It was almost midnight, so no one could’ve overheard the silent sobs. “It’s hurting me. That we are together, but I don’t feel for you anymore. I feel for the memories. I clung to it as if it’s the only thing I have. It pains me.” Mingyu’s words would not leave your head for years to come. And you had silently nodded in pain, because it was hurting you too. To look at Mingyu, and to wish loudly that things were as they were before. It hurt you to look at Mingyu and could only think of the past when the memories of present was what supposed to hook you onto reality.
He had went inside after that. That night, Mingyu didn’t walk you home and take his usual 5 minutes detour. But Wonwoo did. Like all best friends do, upon seeing Mingyu coming into the room looking completely distressed, something in Wonwoo snapped. He grabbed his coat, ran down the stairs and caught you silently crying on the bench. Wonwoo walked you home. Staying completely silent all the way there. Tucked you in to bed, and brew you coffee. He stayed with you the whole night, skipped class the next day, and moved out of his dorm the next day. “I just think it would be awkward seeing Mingyu after this.” He had said when you asked him why. You promised you would help him find a place.
Before you two had found one though, Wonwoo stayed at your place for a couple of days.  And then days turn to weeks. You had an extra spare bed you only used if your parents come to visit, and Wonwoo was welcomed to occupy it anytime he want. It was quite a comical set up, Wonwoo sleeping on the extra bed in front of the tv, and you on safely tucked in your bedroom. Wonwoo’s stuff splattered everywhere in his space, yours neatly stacked in your bedroom. You having to walk over Wonwoo sleeping body when you had to go to the bathroom at 3 in the morning. It was quite comical, but it was extra magical. Wonwoo was the best roommate anyone could ever ask for, he made dinner sometimes, do the dishes regularly, he’d watched shitty tv with you all the time, and he’s basically a kickass friend. You didn’t want to admit it but having Wonwoo living with you clearly made your days a whole lot better. You slept better knowing the safety of Wonwoo’s presence. You studied better, because Wonwoo always offered to study with you—knowing that someone willingly endured a form of torture with you, had given you an extra serotonin boost. You almost wished he would never found his own place.
The one night that you highlighted vividly in your memory about this chapter you shared with Wonwoo, was the night of your final exams. Exams had always tortured you. You always had this innate need to do everything perfectly, but also freaking out over the limited time that you have in studying. It was not a strange phenomenon that sometime you broke down crying before an exam, it was an accepted reality. Especially, when the days are extremely bad. You would cry harder, or break easier. There was nothing in between.
When Wonwoo noticed this, he calmed you down immensely. You were instantly reminded of how Wonwoo’s presence provided you this strange sense of calmness that softened all your edges. Wonwoo told you not to get too hung up over it, you’ll ace it anyway, you’ll be fine, in his deep baritone voice you secretly admired. The cherry on top of the sundae was when Wonwoo brought you to your room, tucked you in lightly so you would sleep. “It’s okay to sleep now. We’ve been studying since 5, we can continue again tomorrow morning. Besides your exams didn’t start until the day after tomorrow right?” The way he said it so calmly just forced rationality inside your head, you did nothing but nod. You caressed Wonwoo’s hand lightly as he sat by your bed to fiddle with his phone. Anyone who didn’t comprehend the bond you had with Wonwoo would think that what you were doing implied that you were his girlfriend. But anyone who shared the same bond probably knew better. But you weren’t so sure you knew better either.
“Won. Please don’t leave.”
“What? I’m not leaving. I’m right here.” He said, not peeling his eyes off the screen. “I mean just sleep here tonight. I have plenty of room.” At that Wonwoo directed his gaze at you. Undoubtedly surprise at your statement. This, was the one activity you had never done together. “Are you sure?” He asked. Wonwoo, the compassionate, quiet guy, who had helped you strengthen your grip on reality, time and time again. Sometimes you ask yourself if you even deserve him. “I’m serious. Just sleep!” You tugged at his hand and tapped at the empty space beside you. “Okay..” He agreed, and proceeded to take off his glasses, put down his phone and lay down beside you. Granted, with Wonwoo on the bed, the space seemed to shrink.
“Are you comfortable?” He asked innocently. “Ugh, don’t make this awkward Won. Just flop on the bed, lay in it, whatever. My bed is your bed, too.” You said as you stare at him. Head propped on the pillow. It was not long after that you started snoring. And so did Wonwoo. Secretly he liked sharing your bed. Your warmth provided him a strange sense of comfort he never experienced before. Wonwoo, only wondered, not out loud though, at the strange beat of his heart that night.
The nights after that wasn’t as bad as the first one. Sometimes you flop over his bed in front of the tv and slept with him. Sometimes he slept on your bed. It was a shared routine that you two never talked about. Not a single word said about the nature of this new activity.
A couple of nights after, you were casually scrolling through your instagram feed only to be greeted with a picture of Mingyu, and a girl you recognised was his classmate. You didn’t know what it meant. Had it meant Mingyu was completely over you? Did he do it just to piss you off? You realised you were living in bliss when you were with Wonwoo. Completely unaware of the world going on out there. Almost like a honeymoon, you thought, but then quickly dismissed the thought as if it were foul. But that picture of Mingyu had completely shattered the serenity that sheltered you and Wonwoo. You threw your phone across the room. Seemingly seething with anger.
“The hell? What is wrong with you?” He began to walk and pick up the phone. Mingyu’s smile was still plastered on the phone. The same exact page. “Oh.” He said when he realised what it was all about. “Yeah. Oh.” Your voice was dripping with venom. Only then did you realise how your anger at the breakup has never really subsided. It was as if anger comes in waves, and this was about to crash, loudly. Wonwoo calmly put the phone down to pull you into a tight hug. His hug felt calming. If your anger was like waves, Wonwoo’s hug was like a lighthouse.
You were sitting next to him on his bed, your head atop his shoulder, and his chin atop yours. “I’m sorry.” He said, softly. You made a mental note that you could recognise his voice, anywhere, anytime. You only shrugged in response. Did your relationship not mean anything to Mingyu? It hurts the most when it almost meant the world to you. You were cherishing the way Wonwoo’s arms curled on your shoulders was like a sign of protection. It in and of itself, meant you’re safe. You could only wonder how someone could be of such importance to another person.
“You know, you shouldn’t build houses out of people, y/n. Because they come and go. So easily. Almost like it’s nothing.” He finally pulled himself away from his initial position to stare at you right in the eyes. His eyes, you’ve always thought was like a cat’s. But now you realised the gaze, the fire flaming behind it, it looked more like a fox’s. Everything about Wonwoo in that moment, reminded you of safety, protection, familiarity and home. He was the only thing in New York that tied you to home. You both came from the same small town, you knew the same people, you’ve been his friend since college barely even started. Wonwoo was, in every sense of the word, home. And that night you’ve decided to come back.
You’d like to think you were never on your right mind when you’re sad. You were always making rash decisions you would later either regret, or forget. You never really know what was into you, to get you to pull him by the t-shirt, close the distance between you two that initially felt like 5 miles, but was now nothing but a shared breath. You kissed him, so hard that it felt like you were drowning. Later in life, when someone offered you to pick between chocolate covered caramel and peppermint candies, you made sure to pick the latter. Because that night, Wonwoo smelled like peppermint candies, and you couldn’t get it out of your mind. Almost as if it was driving you crazy.
You’d like to think you were pushed by all the pent up anger, the unsaid feelings about how you secretly liked Wonwoo’s touch, Wonwoo’s presence beside you on the bed, just Wonwoo. It could’ve been the way Wonwoo was literally sitting underneath the moonlight, basking in all of its glory. It could’ve been the way his fox like eyes stared at you like no one ever does before, like he understood you, through and through. It could’ve been anything. All you knew was if you didn’t kiss Wonwoo, you would’ve gone insane. “Kiss me, Won.” You murmured against his lips. And to your surprise, he did. He kissed you like he had never kissed anyone before.
He, on the other hand, liked to think, he was carried off. He didn’t know what has gotten into his right mind kissing you like that. Like he was hungry. Like he was in pain. He had pushed all other thoughts from his mind. That night there was only you. He looked into your eyes, and was reminded of the person you have always been to him. The only person who would listen to his nerdy ramblings about movies. The only person who remembered the names of all his cousins who always caused him trouble. The only person worth a damn in this whole world. It was not long before his hands found the buttons of your shirt, and your hands slid into his back, passionately lifting his t-shirt. When he pulled himself off of you to breathe, you recited him, “I shouldn’t build houses out of people, because they leave. But you, you’re my best friend Won. You would never leave.” You pulled him into a kiss one more time, and that night was the night the two of you came home.
iv. What We Talk About When We Talk About Love
“Jeon Wonwoo!”
Wonwoo, startled, immediately turned around to see who that was. The owner of the voice was Kwon Soonyoung, his childhood best friend. Wonwoo had his hand on your back, slowly ushering you to Soonyoung’s direction. Kwon Soonyoung was a handsome 20-something year old. He was tall, not taller than Wonwoo, you made a mental note to yourself. His figure was very lean, like the figure of a professional figure skaters, or that of a professional dancer. Wonwoo with a grin stamped all over his face went up to him and gave him the tightest hug.
It was a festive evening. To be precise, it was Wonwoo’s friend, Seungcheol’s wedding. “Crazy how he is only a year older than me, but he’s getting married. Meanwhile, I couldn’t even score a date?”
Strange as it may seems, that one eventful night was the only time you slept with Wonwoo. You two woke up the other day, brushed each other’s hair, straightened your t-shirts and went on with life like nothing had happened. You had always thought it was one of two things; either it meant nothing, or it had meant everything and the weight of the thought had rendered your tongue useless. Either way, the two of you had never mentioned dating, or sex, or relationship in front of the other. As if it was a silent pact. The fact that this pact was never officially made just confirmed that Wonwoo and you practically operated on the same braincells.
“It’s because you have never made a move! Jeon Wonwoo, how are girls supposed to get to know you if you never made a move?” Unlike a normal person, Jeon Wonwoo never thought other girls exist besides you. It was always you, he thought of. You’re the only person he would call if he got into a fight with his mom. You’re the only person that should know his in depth feelings about his classmates. You’re the only person he thought of for a date to a friend’s wedding. After all, you’re his best friend.
“It feels like we haven’t seen each other in years!” Soonyoung exclaimed. The way he inserts himself into conversations strangely feels familiar. Soonyoung has a presence that made you immediately felt embraced, and at ease. He kind of reminded you of Wonwoo that way. “It’s because we truly haven’t, moron! How are you doing? I see you’re still getting 0 luck with girls.” Wonwoo teased him. The way the two interacted, made you think of brothers who have been separated for too long. Soonyoug playfully slapped Wonwoo’s back and gulped down his champagne. “Aish, don’t go flexing on me now that you got yourself a beautiful girlfriend!” He said, gesturing to you who were just standing there.
“Me? I’m not his girlfriend! I would never! No offense to you though, Won.” A smile emerged on Wonwoo’s face. It is a running joke that you would never date Wonwoo, and vice versa. You once told him, “At this point, we’re practically twins!”
“None taken, my lady.” Wonwoo said, still with the smile on his face. “Oh! Thank god. I was about to give you a whole essay on why you should rethink your decision.” Soonyoung teased, winking at you. At that the three of you laughed. You’ve never met Wonwoo’s childhood friends before. But he had always assured you, they’re like family to him, so they should be family to you too.
You, Soonyoung, and Wonwoo took up a table of five, joined by Seungkwan, and Seokmin who just happened to know Seungcheol too. You gave Boo Seungkwan a kiss on the cheek, reminding him how much you missed him. Seungkwan and Seokmin was such a comedic duo, you couldn’t help but burst with laughter every five minutes or so. It was one of those days where you really enjoyed yourself.
Weddings were not particularly your type of events. Strangely though, weddings were always graced with a type of magic that you could sense through the air. It might be because of how weddings itself was supposed to be the strongest union of two individuals who loved each other endlessly, and sacred enough that it could only be broken through death. It could be because a wedding is the happiest moments of a person’s life. It could be because for everyone else who was invited, it was a chance to reunite with old friends, and families.
And that night, the magic poured on your cheeks like raindrops. That night, as you sat by Wonwoo’s side. Feeling strangely nervous for finally meeting Wonwoo’s friends, he held your hands so tight, as if it was a secret message. And the message reads; don’t worry, you’re safe. What’s crazy is how he never let go of your hand the entire night. It was an unspoken gesture, but it was there. Even when you have finally loosen up, and laughed along with Seungkwan and Seokmin, he still wouldn’t let go.
When Seungcheol came up to the stage, serenaded with lovely romantic tunes, and began to start his speech, an homage to his wife. The night began to descend into something you are not entirely sure of.
“If I was supposed to describe my wife in three words, I’m going to be at a loss of words. Because how do you even try to describe someone so attentive, so caring, so beautiful, entirely intelligent, possesses the kindest heart, with just three words?
My wife has given me everything I thought I didn’t deserve.”
During that pause, Wonwoo clutched your hand a little bit tighter.
“I was not the least bit stable when I first met her. That is even an understatement. I was just a mess. I was all over the place. I was late on bills, I was fired from my previous two jobs, and worse, I preferred to be drunk than having to face any of that senseless reality.”
This time you clutched his hand tighter. At one point, you could feel your own breath flowing in and out of your lungs.
“But, my wife? She was like a god sent. She came into my life like the angel Gabriel. Gave me a sense of direction. Helped me get sober. Helped me find a place to live that was not my mother’s basement.” Seungcheol earned quite a number of chuckles at that. But if you look clearly, his wife’s, as well as his friend’s eyes were starting to brim with tears. It must’ve been a dark chapter in his life.
“This woman practically saved my life.”
You turned your head, to get a look at Wonwoo. He was still staring directly at the stage, there were bits of tear on his clear, perfect eyes. As you look at him, you were only reminded of one thing. That night at your place, where Wonwoo was basking in the moonlight. Tonight, it was as if he was the moonlight. His grip on your hands felt like a comfort, security. The way he had always made you feel.
“So, when they asked me to write an homage to the angel who I’m now proud to call my wife, I thought, ‘man, how am I supposed to do that?’”
Wonwoo must’ve felt your stares, because now he was looking at you. There was such tenderness in his eyes, that couldn’t be compared. You’ve never seen Wonwoo this way before. Like a godsent. There was only one time that almost, briefly mimics this moment. It was the day you two went to the beach, for the first time together. Wonwoo was staring straight into the sunset, the wind whipping his hair, the glow of the sunset framing his visage. The scene was so dreamy, you almost thought it didn’t happen.
“Man, I suck at this. I hope my wife isn’t disappointed.”
Again, Seungcheol earned a number of laughter at that. And from the looks of it, his wife isn’t in any how disappointed. There were visible tears running down her cheeks, threatening to undo her makeup.
“So, let’s all raise our glass.”
Wonwoo’s stares was like daggers in your heart. Threatening to undo a secret long unraveled.
“To the most beautiful woman, I have ever met.”
As Wonwoo was fixing his stare at you, everything seems to finally made sense. There has always been a reason why you fit him more than his favourite sweater. To the most beautiful woman, I have ever met, a sentence fit only for you.
“To the love of my life.”
Claps erupted from all around the venue. And when you knew, you knew.

requested by bea (🌱✨anon) tysm bby!! i’m sorry this took so long, i made it a lil longer to make up for it :>
prompt: “uh...did the power just go out?”
*part of my 2 years with luna event!
word count: 2.2k
genre: fluff, high school au, childhood friends to lovers
pairing: lee chan x gn reader
warnings: there’s a thunderstorm and the power goes out!
[you: channieeeee pls come over~]
[chan: y??]
[you: do u rlly need a reason lmao i just wanna see my bestie]
[chan: it’s raining thoooooo]
[you: so? use an umbrella it ain’t a far walk]
[chan: okok i’ll come hang out]
[chan: i’m gonna kick ur ass at super mario party tho]
[you: in your dreams ;) see u soon bby!!]
slipping your phone into your pocket, you roll off your bed and excitedly rush to your front window, pulling the blinds aside so you can have a better view of the street outside. chan wasn’t kidding, it’s raining alright—heavy torrents of rain pour from the sky, and the clouds look a bit too dark for your liking. you bite your lip guiltily, feeling a little bad that chan’s walking here in this weather. at least he only lives a block over, you think to make yourself feel better.
chan’s been your best friend ever since he accidentally hit you in the face with a frisbee way back when you were just ten years old. your nose started bleeding, and chan panicked and tried to comfort you as he went with you to get cleaned up. even when the school nurse tried to send him back outside, he refused to leave until he knew you were okay. you tease him about this all the time, laughing at how overdramatic he was (”it was just a little nose bleed, chan” “okay but you were crying!!”) but you’re grateful for it, as you probably wouldn’t have become friends otherwise.
you smile to yourself as you think back fondly on the memories of your childhood with chan; it won’t be long till you’re both graduating high school, and it’s hard to believe it’s been so many years since that fateful frisbee incident. you can’t help but nervously wonder what the future will bring for you and chan, but you push those thoughts aside when you see a figure running down the street trying to cover his head as he sprints through the puddles. he slows down as he reaches your house, jogging up to your front door. not even giving him the chance to knock, you open the door for chan and usher him inside quickly.
“it’s a little wet out there,” he comments sarcastically, and a distant clap of thunder echoes through the sky as if to emphasize his point. you quickly shut the door and lock it, as if that’ll do something to keep the storm at bay.
“yeah, no kidding, you’re dripping all over the floor,” you comment. chan pulls of his drenched shoes and opens his mouth to say something but you cut him off before he can start.
“i’ll go get you some dry clothes, stay here so you don’t get the entire house wet,” you tell him as you rush to your room to search for something chan can wear. you find a couple of his sweaters lying around, one he forgot here just last week and the other one from god knows when. you decide to keep the more recent one and give chan the older one along with a pair of your sweatpants and some warm socks.
“here, catch,” you say as you throw the clothes towards chan, who’s now standing in a large puddle in your doorway. he’s caught off guard, and the clothes hit him square in the face.
“hey!!! i come all the way over here through a thunderstorm to see you just because you’re bored, and this is the thanks i get?” chan complains as he makes his way to your room to get changed.
“oh come on, i know you were just as bored as i was,” you tease, and chan can’t help but smile when you call him out.
“you got me,” he responds before slipping into your room and closing the door behind him. you proceed to hook up your nintendo switch to the tv, preparing for a night of video games and maybe a movie or two. as you connect the cables, you hear your bedroom door open and chan’s soft footsteps as he goes to throw his clothes in the dryer. he returns to the living room, flopping onto the couch and grabbing a controller.
“what do you want for dinner? my parents are away for the weekend so there’s frozen pizza or….some sort of leftovers i think?” you ask chan, making your way to the kitchen.
“you’re not gonna cook for me?” chan teases, knowing you sometimes struggle to make toast. you give him a look before digging the pizza out of the freezer. you preheat the oven and place the pizza on a tray.
“don’t forget to take the plastic off!” chan calls from the couch.
“i know, chan,” you say, but you’re glad he reminded you; that was a close one.
-
two hours and a slightly overcooked frozen pizza later, you and chan are yelling at the screen as your characters pummel each other in a heated round of super smash bros. it’s still heavily raining, but the sounds of the tv drown out the steady drumming on the roof and the increasingly loud and frequent thunder. the two of you hardly notice the flashes of lightning in the now-dark sky as you focus on the tv. you’re just about to smash chan’s character to oblivion when all of a sudden everything is pitch black and a blanket of dead silence washes over the house, save for the rain on the roof.
“uh...did the power just go out?” chan asks, the two of you sitting frozen on the couch. you turn your head to look at him, although there’s really no point--you can’t see anything.
“hm, yeah i think it did,” you say. you’re trying to tease him, but you can’t hide the fear wavering in your voice.
“where are you?” chan asks, voice equally fearful, and you reach out to feel for his outstretched hands in the dark. you find them, and the two of you grab onto each other and pull each other close. the room feels so empty without the bright lights from the tv and the chaotic yelling over the sounds of the game onscreen. now, there’s only the rain, louder than ever, although you swear you can hear your heartbeat out loud.
“i think we have some candles in the basement,” you whisper.
“noooooope, you’re crazy if you think i’m going down there; it’s scary even when the lights are on,” chan replies and you feel him shake his head. “what about that scented candle i gave you for your birthday?”
“ooh, good call! it’s in my room,” you remember. “let’s go,” you say, pulling out your phone to use as a flashlight. lightning outside lights up the room for a moment, and not too long after there’s a loud clap of thunder. both you and chan let out a small shriek, feeling your grips on each other tighten. now, is your heart beating from fear of the dark and stormy night? or from the way chan holds onto you for dear life? probably a mix of both, but you choose not to think about that right now.
“ok we’ll go on three, ready?” you say, waiting for chan’s response. you’re met with silence. “chan?”
“oh sorry, i forgot you can’t see me nodding. on three,” he confirms
“okay, one, two...three!” you count. on three, you pull chan off the couch and the two of you race hand in hand to your bedroom, guided by the bright light of your phone flashlight. you hesitantly let go of chan’s hand as you search for your candle and some matches. it doesn’t take too long to find them, and soon enough a flickering orange flame casts a faint flow around your room. you and chan climb onto your bed, you sitting up against the headboard and chan lying with his head in your lap. there’s enough light that you can now see each other’s silhouettes at least, and you look down to watch as the flame casts shadows that seem to dance across chan’s face. when did he grow up so much? you find yourself thinking, feeling like it was just yesterday the two of you were a couple of snot-nosed kids running around at recess. your fingers absentmindedly play with his hair as you’re lost in thought.
“this is kind of spooky, we should tell ghost stories!” chan suggests.
“or we could just talk and not scare ourselves into staying awake all night,” you reply.
“good idea,” he agrees, but neither of you say anything. you lie there in silence for a moment; the rain sounds a bit less violent from inside your room, and now that you can see a bit you find it’s quite a peaceful sound.
“mingyu asked me out today,” you tell chan. you’re not quite sure what possessed you to just tell him that out of the blue; you weren’t even planning on telling chan at all, but now you’ve gone and said it and you can’t take it back.
“really?? that’s great, y/n! when’s the date?”
you’re a bit disheartened at chan’s reaction; he seems genuinely excited for you, unless the shock is just masking his true feelings for now,
“i said no.”
“what?? why??? i thought you liked him?” chan sits up at this, his head now even with yours as he looks at you in shock.
“not anymore,” you say with a shrug. your voice is quiet, unsure of where this conversation will head.
“oh,” is all chan says. “is there...any particular reason?” he asks after a beat of silence. there’s something more in his voice now that wasn’t there before.
“i just don’t think he’s really my type,” you explain without elaborating.
“well, what is your type if not mingyu? he’s kind, smart, beautiful, tall...he’s got it all! i mean, you’ve had a crush on him for like, a year, and he finally asked you out and you said no?” chan says in mild disbelief.
“don’t get me wrong, mingyu’s a great guy and all, but i just-i think i realized i have feelings for someone else,” you say, voice trailing off to barely a whisper.
“really?? who is it?” chan asks all-too-eagerly, and you start to feel doubtful he likes you back.
“it’s no one.”
“awe y/n, don’t be like that! at least give me hints?” chan asks.
“fine,” you sigh, knowing he won’t leave it alone. “first of all, he’s annoying and loud,”
“that doesn’t sound like a crus-”
“do you want me to give you hints or not?”
“...yes please,”
“ok then shh. he’s annoying and loud, but it’s perfect because i am too so we get along really well. he’s also the most caring person i’ve ever met; i know he’d do anything for me if i asked him,” you continue, not sure how much you want to give away.
“wow, he sounds really great!” chan comments. to any other person, he’d sound excited for you, but you know him well enough to pick up on the slight disappointment in his voice, and it’s just the boost you need to keep going.
“he is; he’d even go out in a thunderstorm for me just because i said i’m bored,” you say and you turn to look at chan now. it’s too dark to read his expression, but you can see how he leans ever so closer to you.
“now that’s some dedication, i mean he sounds flawless,” chan teases. you can hear the smile in his voice, which makes the butterflies in your stomach go wild.
“the only problem is i’m not sure if he likes me back,” you whisper, your nose brushing the tip of chan’s, and before you know it his lips are on yours in a passionate yet gentle kiss. how you’ve gone so long without kissing chan you don’t know; the years of secret feelings all finally set free in this one kiss.
you didn’t lie about liking mingyu--you had actually thought you might’ve finally gotten over your feelings for chan and found someone else. for a couple of months it worked, and you found yourself distracted with thoughts of the tall boy instead of your best friend. but it all came crashing down when you caught the common cold the other week, and chan looked after you while you were sick--he even skipped class one day to make sure you weren’t lonely. all of your true feelings came rushing back to you, and you knew there were no hopes of losing them.
“what about now?” chan asks as he pulls away just enough to talk.
“i’m still not sure, he might have to kiss me again to convince me,” you say, unable to contain your smile. chan kisses you again, and it’s just as magical as the first time. a loud crack of thunder startles you, and you gasp as you latch onto chan, burying your face in his shoulder.
“you’re such a scaredy-cat,” he says, bringing his arms up to pull you closer.
“shut up so are you, i can hear your heart racing,” your voice is muffled by his sweater.
“maybe that’s just because of you,” he comments, stroking your hair.
“ew,” you reply, but your heart’s not in it; you can pretend to hate how cheesy chan is all you want, but internally you love it just as much as you love every other aspect of him.

pairing: kwon soonyoung x fem!reader
genre: 18+, friends with benefits!au, smut (mentions of choking, mirrors, alcohol consumption, swearing, implicit condom use. always be safe, kids!)
wc: 1.6k
summary: you just can’t seem to quit soonyoung.
a/n: this soonyoung is system!soonyoung but you don’t need to read one to understand the other as these are just in the same timeline, happening simultaneously. (also, ALWAYS make sure you have discussed any kind of choking with your partner beforehand bc it needs to be consensual and not something to be taken lightly or done inexperienced)
Tumblr media
"She's going to fucking kill me."
Soonyoung giggles against your neck, his hand under your skirt as you try very hard not to think of the repercussions of ditching your best friend and focus on his teeth scraping over your sensitive skin. "All the more reason to make this one worth it," Soonyoung notes, tilting his head to capture your lips.
You groan into his touch, as you have done many times before. It's not like you didn't try to fight it—you really did, because you're not the meaningless flirt type of person, but something about Kwon Soonyoung just keeps pulling you in, over and over and over again. The first time you blamed it on the alcohol, the second time on the way his hips swayed in time with yours, his breath fanning over the back of your neck, but there was no excuse for the third time (or fourth or fifth).
Soonyoung has you in a figurative chokehold and a part of you relished it. To be in someone else's mercy and not have to think for a few blissful moments. The buttons of his jeans are already popped, his shirt loosely hanging over the front where you pulled it free. His tongue tastes like Redbull, the sickeningly sweet tinge of it mixed with vodka evident as he laps into your mouth.
You suck on his bottom lip, gently letting your teeth graze along the skin until he hisses, licking his lips to ease the sting.
"We really should get back to the party," you say, unbuttoning your blouse as Soonyoung casts his hooded gaze downwards, where his hand still lingers on your thigh. "I don't want people getting the wrong idea."
"Oh, darling," Soonyoung's voice is low and sultry, his tongue thick in his mouth. "That ship has sailed a long time ago." He accentuates his words with another kiss. "I think people expect us to fuck at every party we go to by now."
"You're gross," you say, unable to bite back a smile. You allow your blouse to fall from your shoulders. "Now take off your shirt."
Soonyoung complies willingly, notably flinching when your cold palm comes up to rest against his chest. "You know I like it dirty, baby," he says in response to your first statement, and this time you laugh out loud. You swat at his chest, covering your mouth to hide your laughter as you dip your head back. There’s a goofy grin on his face as he watches you, your eyes squeezed shut and cheeks rising.
“We’re literally in a bathroom, please don’t talk about dirty right now,” you plead before he moves to grab your ass and lifts you to sit on the sink, pushing up your skirt with his thumbs.
“Still beats Mingyu’s bedroom closet,” he reminds you, hands roaming over your exposed skin as he re-attaches his lips to your throat. You move your hand to his neck, fingers playing with the hair at the nape. You hum at the memory, gently tugging at the locks to pull him away from you. “Yeah,” you muse, breath ghosting over Soonyoung’s lips as you move closer. “Why can’t everyone have a private beach house like Minghao?”
Your tongue flicks out to tease his upper lip, leaning back when he chases your mouth for more. He swallows, adam’s apple bobbing in this throat, and his fingers dig into the flesh of your thighs in frustration. His gaze finds yours, temporarily robbing you of your breath. He’s so beautiful, even without the visible flush now painting his cheeks, but in this state - eyes hooded and throat adorned with angry red marks - he looks to die for.
Soonyoung must’ve thought the same thing because he inhales sharply, as if he suddenly realises something. Brushing a lock of hair out of your face, he smirks. “Fuck, I wish you could see yourself right now. You’re so hot.” You can feel the heat rising to your cheeks, something stirring in the pit of your stomach at his words. He brings you in for a kiss, deepening it with a determination that leaves your head spinning. With his hands on your ass, he pulls you against him, letting you feel how needy he is for you. “Do you-” he breathes between kisses, “do you want to watch?”
You still at the question, unsure of what he’s asking. “Hm?”
But Soonyoung is not looking at you, you realise. His eyes are trained on the mirror behind you, his fingers nimbly working to push your skirt up enough to get a full view of your ass in the reflection. Jeonghan’s bathroom isn’t necessarily big, but it’s big enough to have a double sink with a big mirror that’s lined with tiny light spots, perfect for putting on make-up or your daily skincare routine. You bite your lip, mulling over the implications of his question in your head. “You look so pretty when you cum,” Soonyoung continues, his tongue trailing over your exposed collarbones. “I want you to see how pretty you are when I fuck you.”
With a jerk of his hips, the last of your hesitation crumbles, and he almost misses the way you nod before letting yourself slip off the vanity top, pressing your bodies together impossibly close. Soonyoung winds his fingers in the strands of your hair, gently tugging at them as he breathes you in. At last, his hands fall to your hips, turning you around in one swift motion. The action causes you to topple forward, your hands seeking support on the cold marble top. For a second you pause, feeling Soonyoung’s cock brush against your ass from behind, his hands still firm on your hips as he waits for you to make the next move. You slowly raise your eyes, locking with his in the reflection and he smirks.
It’s exhilarating, the way Soonyoung never breaks eye contact—not when he moves to cup your breasts, playing with your hardening nipple as he sucks at the sweet spot behind your ear. Not when he finally pushes your skirt down and his jeans with it, a hand dipping into your panties to rub between your folds. Not when his fingers wrap around your throat, gently squeezing as he bucks into you, until you’re no longer able to indulge him; your eyes fluttering shut as you feel the muscles in your thighs tighten. A strangled moan forms in the back of his throat as you push your hips back to meet his and his knees almost buckle, making him collapse against your shoulder. The obnoxious sound of skin slapping against skin fills the room, mixing with Soonyoung’s heavy breathing and the rapid succession of his name spilling from your lips, increasing in pitch as you get closer to release.
"You're so fucking hot," he breathes, voice ragged when he speaks. "And so wet." He tilts your chin up with two fingers, using the ones holding onto your hip to give it a little pinch. Your eyes widen at the sudden pain and Soonyoung smiles as he soothingly rubs the skin. "Do you see?"
Your eyes reconnect in the mirror, the look he's giving you shooting straight to your core. You tip your head forward to catch his fingers in your mouth, licking around the digits slowly. Soonyoung almost climaxes right there and then, but his pride doesn't allow him to cum until you do.
You're close, though and it only takes a few extra flicks to your clit for you to come undone. Your jaw slacks in a final, drawn-out moan as you throw your head back, your back bumping into Soonyoung’s sweaty chest. He follows soon after, placing idle open-mouthed kisses against your shoulder to muffle his own sounds.
A moment passes, Soonyoung’s arm wrapped around your torso to keep you steady, both of you catching your breath. He lets out an airy laugh, his eyes locking with yours again over your shoulder. You reciprocate the sentiment, a chuckle escaping you before you allow his fingers to guide your head sideways enough for Soonyoung to plant a kiss to your mouth. This one is softer, laced with content and satisfaction. You curse Soonyoung for being so damn intoxicating and you know, no matter how hard you try, this will happen again next time and again the next time over.
Maybe you’re okay with it, though. You watch him with curiosity as he gets dressed, smoothing out the crinkles in your own blouse in the process. Something stirs inside your chest when he leans over to peck you on the lips. The corner of his mouth quirks into a smile before pushing the bathroom door open, glancing at you over his shoulder. The previously muffled music washes over you in loud waves, and you allow Soonyoung to take your hand.
“Let’s see what stage of murderous your bestie has reached by now and if she needs any rescuing.”
You laugh at his comment, internally hoping you didn’t fuck up too much by leaving her to herself in a house full of people she hardly ever spoke to. The thought gets put on hold as you’re met with the sight of her pressed against Joshua—the Joshua Hong, who she’s been crushing on for months in secret—his hand in her hair and lips locked. You hear Mingyu and Seungcheol hooting loudly, but she seems unbothered by the ruckus they’re causing.
Soonyoung pushes through the crowd, grabbing a red cup with a mysterious content from the table as he passes his friends. He bumps into Joshua’s shoulder with a smug grin.  “Do you guys ever breathe?” he yells over the music.
Joshua visibly tenses, your best friend pulling away from him with a look he can’t quite read. Her fist raises threateningly in his direction, and Joshua laughs heartily before stopping her.
“Soonyoung,” he says, patiently but a tone to his voice that implies he’s not joking around. “I’ll give you a headstart if you start running now.”

Tumblr media
Time with Jeonghan is never boring.
Not even when you're sitting 3 feet apart, the tips of your shoes faintly brushing over sand as you silently swing back and forth. Jeonghan's on the swing next to you, engrossed in telling you a story about the night a drunk Joshua dared an equally wasted Seokmin to kiss a very sober Jihoon. There's a glint in his eye as he laughs, recalling Jihoon's face as Seokmin planted a wet kiss to his cheek unannounced and got his ass kicked for it.
The sun has set, the distant lamp posts casting long shadows behind the both of you. You kind of wish you could see the stars right now, but it's overcast and even the moon is hidden behind dark clouds.
Jeonghan scrunches his nose and manages a final chuckle, before noticing you haven't spoken since he started his re-enactment.
"A penny for your thoughts?" he offers, swinging sideways a little to get closer to you. His hand grabs the metal chains to tug you towards him, eyes tentatively trained on yours.
You take a moment to take in his appearance. His hair is a dark shade of brown, unstyled and soft against his forehead. His eyes, ever so warm, are faintly reflecting the glow of a lantern behind you. His nose and lips are slightly tinted red, a direct result of both the cold and the red wine you shared earlier tonight. He looks absolutely divine, and it stirs something inside of you.
"No thoughts," you smile, reaching out to wrap your fingers around his hand. Jeonghan instinctively brushes his thumb over the part of your skin he can reach. "I just—I like your smile."
It's unlike Jeonghan to blush. Instead, his gaze softens. Something flutters in your chest as he approaches, abandoning his swing to stand in front of you. He towers over you now, but it doesn't feel as intimidating as you'd expect it to be. "Thank you," he simply states, before cupping your face with both hands. "I do have an exceptionally radiant one."
At this, you laugh, the sound resonating louder than ever now that the night has brought along silence. Jeonghan smirks, squeezing at your cheeks for good measure as you bite back a giggle. "Yours isn't totally bad either," he confesses, his tone light and playful.
You half wonder if Jeonghan can hear the way your heartbeat pounds against your chest, the simple sight of him sending the muscle tumbling. For a second you believe he does, or maybe he feels it on your skin, and his voice is steady but fond when he tells you, "I'm going to kiss you now."
You swallow thickly.
"Good."
It takes excruciatingly long for Jeonghan's lips to reach yours, kissing you for the first time since you met. They're soft but cold, making you shiver as he moves against your mouth. You'd never voice how much you've longed for this moment out loud, just because Jeonghan would take your words and spin them to tease you, but fuck—you've been wanting this for so long and it feels so much better than you ever imagined.
You lean into him, your arms wrapping around his waist as you angle your face up to make kissing him easier.
Something wet drops onto your forehead, making you flutter your eyelids in confusion. Soon your nose is wet, causing Jeonghan to pull away—his hands still on your cheeks as he glances up at the sky. A raindrop hits him in the eye, and he sputters indignantly before wiping at it and sending a string of curses into the cold air.
You blink again, raindrops now falling more frequently and rapidly wetting your face.
Jeonghan laughs, hands reaching to catch the drops before latching onto yours, pulling you off the swingset and into the middle of the playground. By now, rain is crashing all around you, almost loud enough to drown out Jeonghan's childish laughter as he pulls you into his chest.
"What the fuck are you doing?" you yell, but there's no malice in your voice. There are little droplets of rain stuck to Jeonghan's eyelashes, rolling onto his cheeks and wetting the collar of his hoodie. Your breath gets caught in your throat, the urge to kiss him amplified by the way his face lights up in mischief, not at all disturbed by your accusatory tone.
"I'm kissing you in the rain, duh," he fires back, a hand on the small of your back to push you closer and before you can state the obvious, he catches your lips again.
This time, he’s less careful. Less tentatively exploring and more pushing boundaries. To be honest, despite his calm facade, Jeonghan’s mind is spinning, The moment he laid eyes on you, he knew he was done for. If not for your caution, he would’ve kissed you on the first date. But you had your heart broken a few too many times and he respected you enough to follow the pace as you set it.
There’s no caution in your actions now, though—every wall you ever built around you slowly crumbling at Jeonghan’s touch. Like you were made to kiss him, body moulding perfectly with his as he slips past your lips and you let him.
You kiss until you’re out of breath, until your sweater is soaked through enough to make you unable to ignore it. You smile as you pull away, your forehead resting against his in silent bliss.
You take a moment to just revel in his presence.
“Let me take you home?” Jeonghan interrupts your thoughts, his hand slipping into yours again, squeezing.
You blink the rain out of your eyes as you look up at him, before shifting your eyes to your entwined hands. “Yeah,” you agree. “Let’s go home.”

a choi seungcheol confession / tw for alcohol mentions and swearing, these are my early morning brain worms, wc: 700ish
Tumblr media
[10:58pm]
"I love you."
You stare at him in silence. The doorknob is still in your hand after opening your front door mere seconds ago. Choi Seungcheol is standing on your doorstep, his black hair windswept and messy and his cheeks tainted a bright pink. He's a little out of breath, chest rising and falling faster than usual, as if he ran all the way to your apartment.
You can smell the soju on his breath from where you're standing.
You really didn't expect to see him. It has been a long day, with multiple deadlines hanging over you at work and a disgruntled employee refusing to help you at the store, in dire need of a new coffee machine. You came home without one and with a new desire to just weep over Chinese food instead.
It's late. You've already changed into your pyjamas—face washed clean of any make-up and leftover tears, your hair combed out and wrapped in a ponytail. Seungcheol finds himself beaming at you, unable to think of you as anything but absolutely beautiful. He can hear his own heartbeat pound in his ears and he realises, no, it isn't deafening. You haven't spoken a single word yet.
"Say something."
"You're drunk."
"Yes," Seungcheol confirms, seeing no point in pretending. "And really fucking in love with you."
Your heart leaps in your chest. This is far from how you imagined Seungcheol professing his love for you—which, to be honest, has been a lot.
"That's not fair."
"All is fair in love and war," Seungcheol quotes and he really doesn't have the luxury to be embarrassed about it. "I know you feel it, too. And I'm really tired of beating around the bush and dancing around each other, and I just really, really want to kiss you."
With one long stride, he's by your side and your eyes flutter shut at his proximity. The smell of his perfume mixed with alcohol hits your senses and you're inclined to push him away, to save this moment for another time, wanting it to be perfect. He rests his forehead against yours, his breath uneven when he pleads, "Can I just, for the love of god, please kiss you?"
Perfection is overrated anyway.
"Yes." The word comes out a whisper and when Seungcheol doesn't move, you're scared you'll have to say it again.
He pulls away briefly, just far enough to take a look at your face. His eyes flicker over your features—from your long eyelashes to the top of your nose, to the mole at your temple, to the rise of your cheeks, to the curve of your mouth, and he sighs.
"Jesus fuck," he mutters under his breath, cupping your face in one hand, "You're so..."
The rest of his words disappear into a kiss, his lips pressing down on yours with care. Tentatively, as if he's been preparing for this moment his entire life and he really can't screw this up. His lips are warm and soft and a little sticky from the soju.
With his free hand, he moves to the small of your back, pulling you closer. Your lips part into a sigh, giving Seungcheol the opportunity to deepen the kiss. A jolt runs up your spine as he licks into your mouth and all at once, your knees go weak.
Fingers tangle into his hair as he scoops you up, not breaking the kiss until he reaches your bedroom door and kicks it open. You fall onto the bed, side by side, as Seungcheol peppers kisses all over your face. When he rolls on top of you, you pause, softly wispering his name to get his attention.
"I'm not having sex with you tonight," you say, waiting until he's propped himself onto his elbows to get a better look at you. "Not like this."
He reaches down to kiss your neck. "I know," he murmers against your skin. "I want to do this right." And there he is, looking at you again, with that same glint in his eyes as when you first opened the door. Brushing a strand of hair out of your face, he admits, "I want to do right by you."

g33 - “wake me up when it’s over.”
Tumblr media
Joshua thinks that his life is already perfect enough knowing that he and the other members were finally nearing their vacation period, since their comeback season was coming to an end. With that in mind, he was excited to come home to you more often and help out with taking care of your daughter Nari.
He knew that it had been hard since her biological father wasn’t around for her to grow up with a proper father, however he vowed to both you and himself as your boyfriend and best friend that he’d do whatever it takes to be the best father figure for her.
And that was all it mattered.
It was days like this where he was finally coming home from a long day that when he walks into your shared studio, he notices how there weren’t any lights that lingered in the area, meaning that you might’ve already been off to bed. It wasn’t until he gets closer to the nursery to check on Nari that he hears the familiar hums of a song that he knew well and he catches a glimpse of you cradling her in your arms, quietly singing to her the soft tune of Second Life.
More specifically his part.
It wasn’t until you finally finished that you carefully put her back into her cot that the smile on your face started to soften even more when you noticed that she was peacefully sleeping. You are still not noticing the male that was standing at your door frame watching you in awe until he speaks up in the moonlight making you almost jump from fright.
“Wake me up when it’s over.” He whispers quietly from where he was leaning against the doorframe of the nursery and watches as you turn around to give him a playful smile before jokingly flipping him off.
“You didn’t have to scare me like that you know.” You mumbled quietly and walked over to greet with a hug as he waddles both of your figures all the way back to your shared bedroom.
“I know, but I wanted to watch your little concert for her. Second life? A good choice my fair lady.” He teases you grinning and it wasn’t until you slightly pinched his arm that he lets you go with smiles on both of your faces, knowing that your playful banter would never end and keep you both up at the late hour.
“Joshua, if you don’t get ready for bed now, then we’re both going to find something to do again, and I don’t plan on watching anime with you again so make your choice.”

f44 - “You’re an idiot.” “But I’m your idiot.” g18 - “Cheers, I’ll drink to that.” “You drink to everything.” “Cheers!”
Tumblr media
It had been a long day for both you and your fiance, Vernon as you had just sent off your niece and nephew back with your sister for the night after spending the entirety of your day with them. It was a favor that you did for her since it was her anniversary with her husband, and it was something so meaningful like today that made you remember why you had the ring on your finger anyways.
You were currently in the kitchen while leaning against the counter in search of any leftover snacks that could’ve been hidden when the sound of a bag of chips being opened brings you out of your thoughts. Turning your head to look over at said individual, he gives you a wide grin that indicates that he was ready to eat all of the chips, had you not spotted him in the corner of the kitchen.
“Babe-”
“I worked hard for this-”
“We both literally did the same amount of work babysitting today, so share some please.” You say playfully while holding out your hands into a little cup for him to place a couple chips into your hands, but apparently according to Vernon, he thought that it’d be funny to give you just a crumb from a corner of a Dorito.
“I can’t believe- You’re an idiot.-”
“But I’m your idiot.” He retorts, grinning with a mischievous look on his face meaning that there was no other argument that you could use against him.
A beat of silence goes by and you sigh to yourself as you turn to take out two champagne glasses out of the cabinet and fill them up with the leftover apple juice that you had in your refrigerator. After filling them up, you carefully hand one over to him and notice that there was a larger bowl that he must’ve found to pour more of the chips into for you two to share as you give him an amused smile.
“To our teamwork for today, since we managed to tackle the toddlers that were restless today.” You joke, raising your glass for him to clink his against when he nods in response and raises his glass that was also in his hand.
“Cheers, I’ll drink to that-”
“Vernon, you drink to everything-”
“Cheers!” He playfully cheers and downs the rest of the apple juice empty of his glass, making you wonder how you ended up finding someone as playful but amazing as him at the same time.
“Cheers to us.”

f7 - you’re an idiot” “but you love me”
Tumblr media
“Mingyu, look at this.” You grinned while moving away from your books that were scattered on your desk to show the male in front of you a funny tiktok that you were watching earlier on your phone.
Your eyes watch him as he looks at your phone at amusement and confusion, waiting until it ends before it can loop once again when he gives you a look. It was one that you knew too well and from the looks of it, you were already predicting what he was going to say as you take the light hearted banter that was ready to escape his lips.
“It wasn’t that funny, but you’re an idiot for thinking that it was funny enough to step away from midterm revisions.” He playfully huffs while flicking your forehead gently, making you frown a bit at his sudden action when you started to roll yourself back to where your desk was as you were looking at him.
“But you love me enough to watch it, which means that it is worth watching and look away from our revisions.” You say breaking into a wide grin and giving him an amused look, one that he was slowly falling smitten for.
The sparkles that were in your eyes from when you talked about anything that interested you had clearly shown that you were too innocent for the harms of the world. Mingyu wanted to do anything and just keep you close to him, but he knew that in order for that to happen, he would have to confess his feelings that have been pent up for years since you first met 4 years ago in your senior year of high school/
Maybe that can be saved for another time, like after exams.
“Just go back to studying, so that I can order us both our usuals.”

smile for me
pairing: seokmin x g.n reader genre: fluff&humor, friends to lovers au wc: <500
f21 - i haven’t seen him/her/them smile like that in ages
Tumblr media
“Hey Seokmin, what are you doing hiding behind this bush?”
The sound of Mingyu’s voice behind him makes the said individual jump a bit in his place before he quickly turns around to face the tall male in question, startled looks on both of their faces in that very moment. To be quite honest, even Seokmin didn’t know why he was hiding behind the bush when you were literally sitting on a park bench just a couple feet away from him.
He was going to confess to you today, he concluded just hours before at his apartment complex, and he was ready to, but there was something inside of him that couldn’t go on with it.
“You see them? I haven’t seen them smile like that in ages, and if I’m not the reason for it then I’ll hurl Mingyu. I like them so much, but I don’t want to mess it up.” He nervously whispers harshly and doesn’t notice the flowers that were being placed in his hands, or the fact that you had left your spot on the park bench earlier.
You wondered throughout the afternoon if the reason Seokmin had called you earlier was to talk about the underlying feelings that were present between you both, and if what your mutual friend Mingyu had said about it was true. You always thought of the sunshine-like individual highly and maybe it was the thought of his warm presence that made you smile more these days because of it.
But it wasn’t until you noticed the two of them hiding behind a bush that caught your attention and you decided that maybe you should tease them for the hell of it.
“Who are we spying on guys?” You whisper jokingly and Seokmin lets out a loud scream, making all eyes turn to you as a giggle nearly escapes your lips while you help him balance his weight onto his legs once again like he was before.
“Oh hey there, Y/N, totally didn’t see you there, hey have you always looked this good under this shade under the tree I-”
“I’ll take this as my leave. Have fun lovebirds.” Mingyu chuckles, clapping Seokmin on the shoulder as he takes his leave, leaving both you and Seokmin alone by the bush as you raise an eyebrow at his panicked manner.
“Are those flowers for me, sunshine? I’m surprised you remembered that they’re my favorite.” You teased while glancing at the flowers that were in his hands, and he blinks for a moment before holding them out for you to take as his face flushes a deep red.
“You, me, date, yes?” He randomly blurts as though he were stuck on a record on repeat, and it took everything inside of you to not giggle at how cute he was being as your cheeks were heating up at the sudden words.
“I’ll say yes, if you just relax, Seokmin. It’s just me, ya know.”

[6:21pm]
“that is absolutely disgusting, josh” you say to your boyfriend, who is currently elbow-deep in the guts of a large pumpkin and not really caring how much of a mess he’s making. he’s almost done by now, the bowl of orange goop beside him nearly overflowing as he scrapes out the last few handfuls of guts.
“what, you don’t like it?” he teases, sticking a slimy orange hand too close to your face. you fake gag at him, wrinkling your nose in disgust before turning back to your own pumpkin. joshua laughs cutely at you and shoves his arm back into the pumpkin. the two of you work in silence for a bit, a fun halloween playlist playing softly in the background. joshua sings quietly along to “monster mash,” goofy voices and all, and you can’t help but smile at him.
“oh y/n, you’ve got something on your face,” he says as he looks up at you.
“where?” you ask, furrowing your brows and lifting your sleeve ready to wipe whatever it is off.
“right...there!” joshua says and reaches to smear your cheek with pumpkin guts.
“ew!!! shua that’s so nasty!!!” you exclaim. you pout as you wipe it off and give him a glare, at which he laughs heartily.
“awe come on, you still love me~~” he teases, and you roll your eyes (but can’t quite contain your smile).
“i guess i do,” you reply. you lean forward, closing your eyes and pressing a giggly kiss to his soft lips. joshua tastes of the candy apples you ate earlier at the pumpkin patch, and you smile at memories of the fun day you’ve had together.
“better get back to carving if i wanna win this year,” joshua says as he pulls away.
“in your dreams, i’m gonna be the reigning pumpkin champion two years in a row!! you’re going down, joshua hong,” you tease, sticking your tongue out at him. you both get back to work, lightheartedly teasing each other as you work on your respective designs, and you can’t wait to see what the rest of the night has in store. ✨🎃
a/n: happy halloween everyone~~🧡🖤

Mingyu X Reader [Wonwoo, Jun, and Nayeon Mention]

Prompt: 12. Playing Holiday matchmaker basically having a stand like Sally from the Peanuts--
It was October twenty-first when I decided to play matchmaker. Wanting everyone to have someone to hold during the holidays and make a quick buck. Sure, I could have done a kissing booth, but getting Mono does not sound fun. It took two days to set up my stand outside of the school building. “(Y/n)’s Matchmaking Magic” painted in white in front of a pink heart on a yellow stand. Wanting to attract everyone at my school to come over to my stand.
Day one went smoothly, with quite a few people picking up applications. Day two the same with a few people handing theirs in. Day three and four dragged by, I had one or two visitors, and neither picked up or dropped off an application. Both of those days, I was comparing matches, seeing who has the best compatibility. The fifth day at lunch I called over a promising looking couple. Telling them the arrangements I made, and they both seemed happy.
After the weekend, I came back to my stand during lunch. To see both of them standing in front with matching gleaming smiles. They tell me about how well their date went. How much they appreciated my work that they recommended me to all their friends. My heart swelled at the compliments, and I told them how happy I was to see it worked out for them.
I had a major influx that week, more people picking up and dropping off their applications. It got to the point where I ran out on Thursday. I could not believe my eyes, I had made two hundred copies, and I ran out. But that didn’t stop people from coming over. Telling me what their personality was like and what they are looking for in someone. As I wrote everything down in my notebook, hoping to catch every last detail.
Before I could head to the printer, there was one last person that walked up to my stand; someone who I didn’t expect or want to come to my stand. Not because I hated their guts, no quite the opposite. You see, I have been harboring the biggest crush on Kim Mingyu since I first laid eyes on him in eighth grade. I’m a senior in high school now, so if that gives you any indicator,...
“I heard you ran out of applications,” I nod, “Would you mind if I apply anyway?” I shake my head 'yes', “Go right ahead, I’ll write it in my notebook.” He describes himself as tall, clumsy, and a puppy. I couldn’t agree more, and he continues explaining that he sucks at math. I want to snicker and tell him I could help him out. But I resist, and he tells me what he’s looking for in someone. Someone bright, kind, easy-going, and hopefully good at math. My brain couldn’t stop going, ‘One plus one makes two, say you’re his type!' Having to physically fight my brain was not on my agenda today, but it may be the front line page of tomorrow's news. I look up at him, “Any interests you would want in common?” He nods, “Someone who loves music and basketball.” All I can hear is my brain go, ‘Check, check, and check. Any more qualifications? I bet I can meet them.’ I smile at him, and I ask him if there is anything else. He shakes his head and says, “Thank you, (Y/n), I appreciate it. I know you can find the perfect match.” If it wasn’t for my name being on the stand, my heart would be beating out of its chest.
I tell him it’s no problem and I’ll make sure he has a date for the holidays. He smiles, and with that, he walks away, and I walk to the office to print out more applications. Why did he of all people have to come to my stand? I fight with my brain to erase his beautiful smile from my mind. It’s not like I haven’t talked to him before, rather I’ve been his partner in math more than half of the time. Always helping him out as he makes me laugh about the simplest of problems. Why is he good-looking, funny, and kind? I shake my head ignoring these thoughts as I collect the applications and set them back on my stand. I set my arms on the plywood and sort through all the applications, and make pairs. Setting different people up for dates; when I notice someone who matches Mingyu’s type perfectly. I sigh and place their papers together. You can’t always get what you want is what that one Rolling Stones song says.
--
On Friday, I call people over to my stand and tell them who I set them up with. When to arrive and what to wear. This part has to be the most fun up until I reach Mingyu and his soon-to-be-partner. I sigh and call him over, and his eyes are bright with a million stars, and has a cute smile playing on his lips. I shake my head of those thoughts as Wonwoo joins us. “Okay, so I set you guys up for Sunday at the Stone Cafe at 10? What do you think?” Wonwoo smiles over at Mingyu and Mingyu smiles back at him. They nod and I tell them specifics, and when Mingyu walks away. Wonwoo stays behind and asks, “What do I wear?” I smile knowing Mingyu pretty well, “Anything that looks nice. Mingyu is going to like whatever you wear.” He smiles and thanks me since I calmed his nerves down.
I go to the restroom and lean my head against the stall door. Ugh, why did I do this to myself? I could have set myself up with him. At least they will be happy together if Mingyu is happy then I am. I look through the few remaining applicants. Man, I need a date, I think to myself as I settle on the last few pairs.
Monday comes around, and Wonwoo approaches my stand. He scratches the back of his neck, and I ask, “Did it go well?” He kind of grimaces, “Oh no, what happened.” He sighs, “It was on accident, but he spilled his pop all over me, and I was wondering if you had anyone else in that pile.” I wish to sigh in relief as I go through a few, “Well, I have two options for you, Nayeon or Junhui?” He looks over both applications and tells me Nayeon. I nod and tell him I’ll make the arrangements later today.
Twenty minutes later, and Mingyu is telling me his date did not go well. How he spilled pop all over Wonwoo’s cashmere sweater and that he felt so embarrassed he paid for the whole meal and left. Jeez, no wonder Wonwoo wanted to go out with someone else. Although Mingyu is such a cute and sweet mess that I wouldn’t mind it. I have three more applications sitting in my lap, and I go over each, and he decides on Junhui. I agree wishing him better luck; instead of leaving, he asks me. “Have you set yourself up with anyone yet?” I shake my head, ‘no’, “I never got around to it.” He nods, “Well, since you listen to how everyone’s dates go. How about I return the favor when you go out with someone.” I thank him and wish to tell him that I want to go out with him and no one else. But the cowardly lion covers my mouth with its paw. He smiles and waves me goodbye, and my heart longs for him to stay.
Mingyu has yet come to see me, and it’s been a week since his date with Junhui. I guess it went pretty well, feeling proud and sad at the same time. I didn’t even know I could feel both of those emotions at the same time. Business went as usual when I noticed I haven’t seen Junhui since he dropped off his application either. I knew he was kind of shy, but he seemed so friendly. I mark on my calendar another arrangement. Nayeon told me how well her date with Wonwoo went. That he even asked her to be his, and I couldn’t help but share her excitement. Nearly everyone I have set up has been happy with my choices.
That’s when Mingyu comes over, “Hey,...” I dread his tone already knowing it didn’t go well. “How did it go, Mingyu?” He pouts, “Not well,...” I pout back, “Why’s that?” He sighs, “I told them the truth.” I tilt my head to the side, “The only reason I came over to your stand was so I could spend time with you,...” I furrow my brows at his statement, “Okay, but what does this have to do with the dates?” He sighs, “Everything,... I would like to go on a date with you instead.” He scratches the back of his neck, and my jaw hits the floor. Kim Mingyu wants to go out on a date with me? My heart nearly goes into cardiac arrest. I smile at him and say, “I’m free Friday.” He smiles and says, “6 pm?” I nod and ask, “Stone Cafe?” He shakes his head, ‘no’, “Let me surprise you.” I shrug and agree when he leaves, I can’t catch the little ‘yes’ that escapes my throat.
Jun comes over later, and I hook him up with Minghao, the only other applicant I have left. He agrees, and needless to say, everyone that got paired up at this stand has been a success. But you try sometimes, you find, you get what you need.

FALLIN FOR YOU MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Being one of the most terrifying rulers of the underworld was getting boring to you, seeing as though that the idea of everyone being in a state of fear because of your tyranny wasn’t the same anymore. You’ve spent over a century figuring that out, watching as you gave millions of souls every day different death sentences because of the sins that brought them to you in the underworld, including the nasty ones that you had to throw into your lagoon of lost souls.
You were bored.
Picking at your fingers and messed up skin from the amount of times that you were burnt from the times that you had to torture some of the souls with your firey powers, you wondered how much longer you had to stay down here. The reason for why you ended up here in the first place was a distant memory that you couldn’t remember for a while, up until you no longer cared to go back to the human world.
The sound of someone yelling breaks you out of your thoughts as there was someone new being brought in to be presented to you, the sounds of their anger and pain resonating throughout the room that made you curious.
Who was this person that was so filled with fury and rage this time around?
It wasn’t until the sounds of shackles being tossed onto the ground and a person’s grunts after getting their breath knocked out of their system that made you pause for a moment, recognizing who the person was almost instantly. Your heart was pounding in your chest loudly as you looked into the eyes that you were once familiarly in love with at one point, making your stomach churn at the sight of him after so long.
Here in the underworld stood the same individual that was deemed as the richest CEO that got everything because of his successful father up in the human world, the person that you once found solstice in because of his warm nature that you fell for.
“Kim Mingyu.”
His name easily rolled off the tip of your tongue as you stared into his lifeless form, unknowing that he became a demon moments ago when he woke up just right beside the lagoon of lost souls. The both of you were having a wordless match to see who would speak up until you did with your arms in front of you, your stare never faltering as you stood in front of your throne and looked at him.
“How did you find me down here? You shouldn’t be here, Mingyu.” You asked him, not understanding how the human’s soul was able to find you, the ruler of demons in the underworld when he should’ve been in heaven since it has been over a century since you last saw him, you think.
“I didn’t ask to be here this late, sweetheart.” He retorts while giving you a cold glare, making you think about what had happened the last time that you last saw him as you realized that he was right considering if he was already dead, then why did he not get here the same time that you have arrived?
But was he dead?
“Are you dead?” You mumbled while furrowing your eyebrows at the latter and watched as he turned around to show you the bullet hole in his chest, the memory of your last encounter with him as you were now remembering your past life as a human.
“It was your fault that I ended up here in the first place.”
Tumblr media
You weren’t supposed to be here.
It was the late hours of 3 in the morning as you had snuck into the building of your boyfriend’s company, looking for the thing that you needed most at the moment because of the time that you were wasting. Papers are being rustled with and you were becoming more and more stressed as you couldn’t find the exact files that you needed in order to prove your parents’ innocence and to clear your own name.
Coincidence was what you wanted to call it as you were standing in the middle of Mingyu’s office in distress, knowing that you weren’t supposed to fall in love with him because of your morals. It was his family that ruined yours, making you have to scrape the bottom of the economy when all this time, they could have the answers to just clear everything, but you couldn’t find the evidence of it.
Where the hell was it-
“Y/N, what are you doing?” You hear someone say from behind you as you look at the individual in the eye with tears pricking your own eyes, seeing it was Mingyu, who at the time came back to his office in order to pick up extra work for the weekend.
You froze in your spot knowing that you were caught red-handed, seeing as though things were still out of place as there was nothing that could save you right now. There were sounds of police sirens wailing in the background from maybe miles away, and you knew that it must’ve been him that called him because he could’ve known about your plan the entire time. Did he?
“How the hell did you even get in?” He asked in confusion, making you want to stay quiet as you couldn’t bear to tell him that you broke into his office, only to look for the files that you had been looking for all these months in order to save your family from more debt.
“It was left unlocked.” You gulped, not wanting to explain yourself and you could tell that he wasn’t buying your act while he continued to step forward closer to where you were standing as he looked at you with a stern look.
“Were you looking for this?” He suddenly says while holding up a thumbdrive that you easily recognized, making you heat up in embarrassment and you knew that you were done for.
Of course he would have it.
“Mingyu-”
“Did you even love me?” He rasps out in disbelief and puts the item away in his pocket on his shirt as you could see the red rims around his eyes from how hard he was trying to not break down in front of you in the moment, and you were speechless.
“Of course I loved you.” You whispered back, your voice nearly cracking at the tears that were starting to to trickle down your face until you pulled out the metallic item that you had been hiding in your pocket in case it had led to this and pointed it against his shirt pocket, “Which is why I need you to give me the flashdrive, Gyu.”
He doesn't say anything as you continue to hold the gun to his shirt pocket and it was like a stare off as the police sirens continued to grow closer to where you stood in the office. It wasn’t until you pulled him close that you left one last kiss against his lips, one that you decided to give your everything into as you felt him kiss you back and pulled the trigger that was in your hands.
Time freezes as you watch the life leave his own eyes by the time that you pull away, your eyes glossed with tears as you watch the crimson red bleed from where his heart was located. There were no other words exchanged between you both, as you knew that he was already dying and you had to leave before you could get caught by those that were getting closer.
“It’s for the best, Kim Mingyu.” You whisper quietly, letting his body fall limp against his office chair as you made sure to have gotten rid of all traces of what you left behind.
And that ended up being your last moments before you were suddenly sent to the underworld after jumping out of the window from where you last stood.
Tumblr media
Blinking back to reality, you wiped the tear that was slipping down your face away as you finally remembered that you were the one that sent the bullet to the back of his head, killing him before you vanished to rule the underworld once more for a century. You remember how his last words of finding you again to wreak havoc on you haunted you to this day, and you remembered everything the longer that you were looking at the demon in front of you.
You realized then in the moment as well that if he had just arrived in this time period, then where was he for a century?
There was no other words as you continued to stare a Mingyu, who was looking at you with the coldest look that could’ve killed you if it could, and thought about how he could’ve became a demon, unless there was a different circumstance that he could’ve chosen when he was on his way to heaven.
“Did you drink a demon’s blood?” You murmured with widened eyes when you finally came to the conclusion as to how he could’ve transformed, meeting his own eyes as he was now amused at how you were able to connect all of the dots that were right in front of you.
“I had to find a way to find you, didn’t I? Now we can finish what we started in the first place, sweetheart.”

“can’t this thing go any faster?” you groan, kicking your feet up on the dash of your boyfriend’s starship. you’ve been staring into the vastness of space for far too long, with only the hum of the engine filling the cockpit of jihoon’s cruiser.
“i told you my ship’s too old and rusty to travel at lightspeed, why do you think we always take your ship,” jihoon replies, swivelling around in his chair to face you. “and get your feet off of there,” he scolds. you kick your feet down with an exaggerated sigh.
“ugh, travelling at this pace, it’ll take us decades to reach the next star system,” you complain.
“guess we’ll just have to wait then,” jihoon shrugs, turning back to adjust some switches and levers.
“i know you’re just as bored as i am; you’ve checked the fuel levels like 15 times in the last 10 minutes,” you tease.
“you never know when you could run out,” jihoon replies. you roll your eyes and slump back into your seat. you take the opportunity to investigate the cockpit, looking around at all the little trinkets jihoon has to decorate. you’ve only been inside his ship a handful of times, and you find it cute to see his setup. you reach out to touch a particularly interesting looking object hanging from a cable on the ceiling.
“don’t touch that,” jihoon warns without looking back at you. you stick your tongue out at the back of his head and retract your arm.
many considered you and jihoon to be an odd couple; you’ll never forget the shocked looks on your friends’ faces when you told them you were dating. jihoon worked at the local cantina, and his home planet was typically a part of your trading route. you often stopped by for a drink after a long day’s work, and though you two were cold to each other at first, you slowly warmed up to each other. you got to know each other quite well, and you found yourself making increasingly frequent stops on his planet. one day jihoon casually mentioned he’d never been off-world, which you found unacceptable, and you’ll never forget the look of wonder on face the first time you flew him around the system in your ship. it wasn’t long after that jihoon started joining you in your travels, helping you out with your trades and keeping you company on the long, lonely flights.
to outsiders, it seemed like the two of you bickered a lot, but you both knew it was always lighthearted and fun. your relationship is mostly comprised of comfortable silences and understanding each other through subtle actions rather than words; however, that's not to say the two of you didn’t have the occasional endless conversation about life and the universe--how else would you pass the time on your trips together? and of course, there’s always the constant teasing and friendly banter. you both get each other in a way no one else does, which is why your relationship works so well.
you’re currently on your way to visit jihoon’s parents, who moved across the galaxy a few years back and jihoon hasn’t seen them since. he’d mentioned you to them, and they excitedly invited you to come along with him. after some convincing you agreed, although you did have some hesitations about travelling on jihoon’s ship--he’d saved up to buy one a couple years ago so that he’d be able to get himself around the odd time you weren’t there, but even for a second (or third, maybe fourth) hand ship it needs a lot of work. your ship’s bigger, newer, and most importantly of all faster, but it unfortunately needed some repairs after a particularly rough encounter with some pirates.
you smile fondly as you think back on your adventures, but your smile fades when you think about the people you’re about to meet. you’re not sure how much jihoon told them about you, but you’re worried about how they might react to your line of work. trading and transporting cargo isn’t exactly the safest job in the universe--you’ve had more than your fair share of run-ins with the wrong sort of people, and you always have to carry a blaster with you. it’s been better since jihoon’s joined you, as people are less likely to try something when there’s two of you, but there are still risks. you’re worried jihoon’s parents will despise you for dragging him away from the safety of his cantina job on his peaceful homeworld.
“what’s wrong? i can hear you thinking back there,” jihoon asks curiously. he swivels around to see you worrying your lower lip between your teeth in concern.
“what if your parents hate me?” you ask nervously.
“why would they hate you?” he asks. his face softens with concern, and he gets up to come sit with you. it’s pretty cramped with the two of you sharing one seat, but you’re grateful for jihoon’s comforting touch.
“because i took you away from your safe and peaceful life! you could’ve settled down with someone local and never left the planet and never had to worry about your safety,” you mutter as you run your fingers over the blaster scorch marks on jihoon’s jacket sleeve from a too-close-for-comfort encounter a couple weeks ago.
“y/n, that sounds like the most boring life in existence. not a day goes by i’m not grateful for you and your ship, i mean think of all the adventures we’ve had together! you can’t make memories like those without a little risk,” he comments. “besides, my parents just want me to be with someone who makes me happy, and i’d say you fit the bill,” he teases with a smile, leaning into you.
“thanks, jihoon,” you say. you let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding in, now feeling much more relieved. you and jihoon cuddle in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying each other’s presence as you look out into the darkness of space in front of you.
“i can’t believe you, the bravest person i know, were afraid to meet my parents. guess you’re not so fearless after all,” jihoon teases.
“hey, i’m only human!” you pout, playfully shoving his arm, and he giggles at you in response.
“i love you, y/n,” jihoon says. you feel your heart stop for a moment; these words weren’t something the two of you threw around casually to each other. you often expressed it through actions, but to hear them out loud was a rare occurrence.
“i love you too,” you reply, planting a soft kiss on jihoon’s cheek. he acts calm on the outside, but you can see the redness on his ears and cheeks at your words and actions. you smile, thinking to yourself that you must be the luckiest person in the universe.
