143 candies
Tumblr media
PAIRING: moon junhui x reader GENRE: established relationship, fluff WC: 501 WARNING: reader is having period cramps (no pronouns used), one curse word
"Do you still love me?" Jun asks, stopping you from your endless scrolling. You look up to him in slow motion, wondering if you did something that caused him to ask such a question. Truth is, he just doesn't know how to properly express his love to you. Saying I love you is as easy as blinking, yet he finds himself unsatisfied with his own effort.
It's not like you demand anything from him, though, but that's what sends him on a frenzy; that you never asked him of anything (except kisses when he's in the middle of finishing a game, and he always provides them for you).
"Of course, I still love you, what are you talking about Junnie?" you ask back, walking to where he was sitting. You take the empty spot next to him on the sofa, leaning closer so you can rest your head on his shoulder. In turn, he brings his arm around your waist.
"I don't know, just feeling like I can't show you enough," he said. "I guess I'm just a little bit insecure..." he hesitates a bit, before continuing, "Honestly I don't fucking know."
"Junnie, you always keep spare pads on your car, you carry my bags when we're going out, you buy a reading lamp just for me, you take care of me during my period, you bookmark stuff that you think I would like to see, you send cat pictures and memes every day--"
"That's the bare minimum," he complained.
"No, well, yes, you consider it the bare minimum because you love me, for me it's everything because I love you," you said. "I'm sorry for not appreciating them enough, but those little things... They made me fall in love with you more each day."
"Is that so?" he asks again, voice small.
"Let's not forget when you bought coffee for my whole department, or when you joined me on my overseas trip, or last week when you sent 143 packs of candies..."
"That's a bit overkill, isn't it?" Jun laughs heartily, pressing a kiss on the top of your head. That was during one of your period cycles when you felt cramps and took the day off. He was away for work so he couldn't physically be there. You had told him that you're craving for some candies and the next minute you know, there's a delivery on your door.
"I almost thought you wanted me to have diabetes or something," you smile. It's the fact that he doesn't have to do all that for you, but he chooses to that makes you feel loved. You tried to reassure him that he's done enough, time and time again because he expresses his love in a different way. In a way that amazed you, and never not. He's creative with his declaration of love and you always point it out that makes him shy.
"Thank you, baobei," he said, "I'll continue to think out of the box to make you happy."

Tumblr media
When you had texted Jun that you were having a bad day, Jun didn’t quite know what to expect. You had your fair share of bad days, unfortunately; Jun wished every day was filled with nothing but happiness and contentment for you, but he was just one man and couldn’t fight the whole world.
(Once, when you were having a bad day, a barista had nearly made you cry. She had given you a once-over, looking you up and down after you gave your order. Then she gave a little huff, irritated, before turning around and walking away.
Jun didn’t throw a punch at the barista because 1) she was, at the most, eighteen, and 2) it just wasn’t in his personality to do so. But he did leave a negative review and said he found a hair in his drink.)
Today had started out good, he had thought. But then around noon he got a message about your boss, and then twenty minutes later you were saying that you just wanted to be home, that you couldn't take another minute at work. His heart had broken, reading that.
But Jun did what he did whenever he noticed you were looking particularly sad. He went out and bought a bouquet of flowers, stopped at the little Chinese place that knew the both of you by name. Left a fiver at the little shrine in the back of the restaurant, placed his palms together, asked for your health and happiness, just as he always did whenever the two of you stopped.
“Say hi to your lover for me!” Auntie Meilan waved, grinning at him. “Bring them in next time!”
“I will!” Jun called back, saluting and neglecting to correct the Auntie that no, you weren’t his lover, you were just his longtime roommate that he had been in love with for far too long.
That was all.
Night had long fallen on the city, street lights dim and headlights bright. Jun hated getting off this late. He hated it because it meant he missed out on the normal mealtime for the both of you, and he knew that instead of you just making food for yourself or even making a meal and saving some of it in the fridge for him to have later, you would hold off on eating altogether until he got home so the two of you could share dinner and talk about your day.
Which was why he volunteered to grab food.
Jun’s stomach grumbled as he walked to the car, and if he was a lesser man he would’ve torn open the takeout box and ate his portion right then and there. But he wouldn’t. Couldn’t. No matter how hungry he was.
“You wouldn’t be so hungry if you actually ate a meal at lunch instead of just eating those shrimp chips you like so much.” You had said once, watching as Jun tore open a container of cherry tomatoes and began eating them whole as soon as he walked through the apartment door.
He had gasped dramatically, and still chewing the cherry tomatoes, scolding you. “How dare you talk about my precious chips as if they’re nothing more than a mere snack! They’re in a league of their own, they deserve an entire meal dedicated to them --”
“Okay, shrimp boy,” you had amended, your brow furrowing in adorable concern. You had rounded the island and went to the cupboard, withdrawing with a box of pasta. “Hold your horses and I’ll whip up some pasta. Don’t make yourself sick on those.”
The smell of takeout permeated the car, to the point where Jun couldn’t even smell it over the vanilla scentsy you had gotten him. It took far too long for Jun to get to the apartment, and every time the light switched to red Jun wanted to just slam his foot down on the pedal and speed through the intersection.
But he didn’t.
The man with the french bulldog was walking the dog around the parking lot when he pulled in, and gave Jun a short wave in greeting. Spotting the takeout bags in Jun’s hands, he called out, “Must be your night to make supper!”
Ignoring how misogynistic that seemed and how Jun was the one to primarily make your meals, Jun gave the man a tight-lipped smile. “Yeah, haha. Nothing like takeout on a Friday night!”
“Tell your sweetheart I said hi!”
Again neglecting to correct the man, Jun made his way into the building. He greeted the old woman who always sat in the foyer because you always greeted her, remembering how you once commented on how she must live alone or feel lonely, to spend her entire day in the front watching people come and go.
Jun took the elevator on the right, despite knowing that you didn’t trust that particular elevator and all the squeaking and moaning it did. He felt bad for the next person who would use the elevator, knowing they would smell nothing but delicious Chinese food.
As Jun shoved his key into the hole to unlock your apartment door, he got the distinct feeling that something was off. He didn’t know how he knew, but Jun knew without even stepping foot into the apartment that something was wrong.
This didn’t dissuade him; instead he hurried in, calling out for you as soon as the door was open.
“I’m home! Food is acquired and ready for consumption as soon as you are!”
He kicked off his shoes, ignoring the shoe rack you had insisted on buying, and made his way to the kitchen. He set the takeout on the island, peering around the apartment for you.
As it was Friday, the apartment was slightly a mess. Socks littered the floor, and Jun spotted your pants near the corner of the couch. He entered the space, noting the nearly-empty bottles of vodka and pineapple juice. There was an empty bag of chips -- his shrimp chips.
He called out your name again, rounding the couch. The living room blankets were in complete disarray, and your laptop was propped up on the coffee table. There were a few crumbs on the couch, and Jun spotted a muffin wrapper on the floor.
“Wen Junhui!”
Arms were suddenly around his middle, pulling him back and squeezing. Jun immediately knew it was you, and turned in your arms. You were already grinning up at him, slightly too-wide and with eyes that glittered brighter than usual.
“Junnie,” you whined, pitching forward and burrowing your face into his chest. Bewildered, but slowly coming to a realization, Jun wrapped his arms around your shoulders and held you to him. “I’m so glad you’re here!”
“I’m glad I’m here, too,” he agreed. You tightened your grip around his waist, leading him into a swaying motion. “Are you okay?”
You pouted, resting your chin on his chest in order to look up at him. “No. I had a bad day. And I’m drunk.”
You may be drunk, Jun acknowledged, but you were no less beautiful than when he left you. You were smiling at him like he was your favorite person on the planet, as if he was the person most dear to you, as if he was someone you treasured and loved, and Jun couldn’t help but giggle and bend down to press a swift kiss to your forehead.
“Yes,” he laughed a little. “You are drunk. I brought food home.”
You gasped, mouth gaping and eyes widening dramatically. “For me?”
“For you!”
Squealing, you burrowed your face into his chest. He hoped you couldn’t hear the way his heart was threatening to leap from it. “You’re amazing! You’re the bestest!”
Squeezing you one last time, Jun reluctantly pulled himself away. While he loved hugging and loving you, and would gladly do nothing but that for days on end, you were drunk and vulnerable. “No, you’re the bestest.”
You frowned at him as he untangled himself, whining. Jun couldn’t help but coo at you, reaching out and pressing your cheeks together. You were so fucking cute.
“Noooo,” you protested, hands reaching up to cover his. “Youuuuuu!”
“I greatly disagree,” Jun said. He pressed another kiss to your forehead and pulled away. He rounded you, hands going to your shoulders, and began guiding you towards the kitchen.
Jun was careful to make sure you didn’t hit a hand or foot on the couch leg, gentle and slow enough to ensure you weren’t going to stumble. All the while you were chattering to him, telling Jun about a show you had watched as a child.
“I don’t know that show,” he admitted, guiding you to sit down at the island. He left your side to return to the takeout, pulling the boxes out of the bag and setting them on the counter. He then went to the dishwasher and pulled out chopsticks. “I grew up in China, remember?”
“Ooh,” you said, eyes wide. It reminded him of Bambi, almost, how innocent and sweet you seemed like this. You were always sweet, he knew, but there was something especially child-like about you when you were like this. “I forgot.”
Jun set your chopsticks in front of you. He then went to the cupboard and withdrew two cups, quickly filling them with water and setting them down on the island. “It’s okay. We can always watch that show later.”
You nodded somberly, puffing out your cheeks. He couldn’t help but grin at how intently you were watching him open up the takeout boxes, your eyes taking in his every move. Jun picked up his chopsticks and clicked them at you once, watching your eyes focus, before reaching for the box of noodles.
“Hey!” You snapped, reaching out and smacking his hand. Jun startled, dropping a blob of noodles on the counter. “Where did you grow up! In a barn? We use plates when eating in this apartment, young man!”
“Yessir!” Jun returned, roughly saluting at you. He stood up and went to the dishwasher, and when he set down two plates you gave him a sharp nod of approval.
“Good.” You glanced down at the mess of noodles. Frowning, you hopped down from the barstool.
“Where are you going?”
“To clean up your mess, Mr. Junhui,” you slurred, rounding the island to grab paper towels. He couldn’t help but laugh at the serious look on your face, as if he had committed a serious wrong.
He was going to clean it, of course, after your meal. But he said nothing as you walked to his elbow and leaned against his arm, reaching and collecting the fallen noodles. “Dirty boy.”
Jun nodded, still smiling. “Yes, I’m a dirty boy, aren’t I?”
You returned his nod, still serious. “But you’re my dirty boy.”
Suddenly feeling his heart warm with affection and adoration, Jun inclined his head. “Yes. I’m your boy.”
Satisfied, you tossed the noodles and paper towel into the sink and returned to your seat. You brought the plate between yourself and the boxes, and Jun watched as you, very carefully, lifted your chopsticks and grabbed the box of sesame chicken.
Even as the two of you ate, you were speaking. Jun listened as you talked about this woman at work who did nothing but complain about her children and husband, but then also said she was trying for a fourth, and how you didn’t think she had ever said a single nice thing about her family since you’ve met her.
Then you were frowning seriously at Jun, pointing at him with your chopsticks. “We won’t end like that no matter what, right, Junnie?”
“Right, darling.”
You set your chopsticks down on the table, reaching out with your other hand. Your hand wrapped around Jun’s cup and brought it to your lips. “Wait -- that’s my cup, I’ve already drank from it, it has my cooties.”
Jun watched you pause for a few seconds, eyeing him over the rim of the cup. And then you raised it to your lips and gulped it.
“There,” you said, sighing in satisfaction. “Now I have your cooties.”
You then opened up the steamed vegetables, delight taking over your features. Jun continued eating as you shifted through the vegetables, picking out the broccoli and placing each piece on his plate. Jun ate them dutifully, shoving each piece into his mouth.
“Careful,” you scolded, “you’ll choke.”
Jun watched as you then set down your chopsticks on the counter, the metal clinking against the surface. You pointed at him, peering at him with an extremely serious look on your face that didn’t really suit the situation and had Jun fighting to keep his smile off of his face.
“Listen here, Wen Junhui,” you slowly began, brows furrowing. “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you to not stuff your mouth. But I’m serious. Choking is not a joke. It’s not fun. Have you ever been choked before?”
You had begun gesturing with your hands during your little speech, and at the end of your statement you waved your hand and sent your cup tumbling.
Jun jumped up, rushing for the paper towels and rounding the island. You were blinking at the water even as it dripped into your lap, and Jun shoved away the cuteness of how you looked, confused and taken aback, and ushered you off the stoll.
“Oh,” you mumbled, moving.
“It’s okay,” he soothed, “we just have a small ocean in our kitchen. I’ll clean it up while you get changed out of your pants.”
He spun a few too many towels from the roll, focusing on turning the cup upright and wiping down the counter before moving onto the mess on the floor. You were still muttering to yourself, and it wasn’t until you made a small “oh” sound, followed by the sound of something hitting the wall, did Jun turn around.
You were standing in front of him, legs completely bare and leggings sitting sadly on the floor from where you had thrown them against the wall. For a moment Jun couldn’t help but look -- look at your thighs and take in the shape of them, the color; his eyes trailed down over your knee and to your legs, taking in the spots where you had attempting waxing and given up halfway through, leaving bald patches on your leg surrounded by hair.
But fuck, if he didn’t want to wrap his hand around your leg and guide it around his waist, pull you tight against him and feel your body pressed against his.
“Staring is rude,” you said, flapping your hand towards Jun.
“Mm,” he hummed, turning his back to you. Jun dropped to the floor, beginning on the small puddle that had formed. “I won’t mention all the staring you do at me when I get out of the shower, then.”
“That’s not fair, though,” you argued. Jun stood, knees cracking, and watched as you stomped your foot. The fat of your thighs jiggled at the movement, and he wanted to dig his fingers into your flesh and see how it molded around his digits. “You know what you look like.”
“I do?”
“Irresistible,” you said matter-of-factly.
He echoed you, the word and its implications not really registering with him until he said it himself. And then the little light in Jun’s head flicked on, and he squinted at you.
It wasn’t like you made it a habit to be drunk; you didn’t. In the years Jun’s known you, in the years he’s been your roommate, he’s only seen you properly drunk a handful of times. But he knows what you’re like when you’re drunk: you’re giggly, silly, and honest.
“Alcohol is like a truth serum for me,” you had told him after a few weeks of meeting. “Get me drunk and I’ll tell you anything. It’s why I can’t be President: I’d reveal all the State secrets.”
And sure enough, Jun found out that when you were drunk, you were incredibly honest. He could ask you any question he wanted and you would answer. He had once tested this by asking you if you had ever lied to your grandma before. Sober you had frowned at him and shook your head, saying you had nothing to really lie about; drunk you had bursted into tears, sobbing about how you had lied to her about your whereabouts on your 21st birthday by saying you had been safely drinking with your friends at their apartment instead of being out at clubs.
So: drunk you was as honest as you could get. You weren’t inherently dishonest, but all of the little things you were ashamed of or kept secret bubbled out.
Irresistible.
Truthfully, Jun wanted to poke at this some more. He wanted to ask you to elaborate, and he knew that if he was quiet for much longer you would elaborate yourself.
But he didn’t. He couldn’t.
It felt wrong doing that. You trusted him. You trusted him when you were sick, when you were drunk, when you were in tears; you trusted Jun when you were at your most vulnerable, and taking advantage of you in this state, even to just question you about your feelings towards him, was wrong.
Jun instead began talking, filling up the empty space with his own chatter in order to get your mind off of him in the shower. He narrated what he was doing as he did it, loudly, speaking everything as it appeared in his mind.
“I’m going to throw away these towels. I know you don’t mind it when I leave wrappers around, because you do it too, but I know you hate it when dirty things are left. Like I remember you scolding Seungcheol for leaving his sweaty undershirt in our bathroom.
“Gosh, I’m going to have to take the trash down next time I leave the apartment. I know you don’t mind doing it, but I also know you don’t like it particularly either. I’m okay with that. You do enough for me, I don’t mind doing this.”
Jun rounded the counter once more, reaching out for you. You went easily, hugging yourself close to him. Despite the alcohol you had drank, you still smelled like you: fresh linen, oranges and lemons, the sort of things that reminded Jun of home. His favorite smells in the world.
He swooped down and pressed a kiss to your forehead, smoothing your hair away from your face. You blinked up at him lazily at the gesture, eyes taking just a moment too long to open. “Ooh, are you my tired baby?”
You hummed, nodding sleepily. Then you opened your eyes, your arms going over Jun’s to wrap around him in return. “Yes. Your baby.”
Jun tapped his hands against your lower back, leading you into a sway. You complied easily, grinning and rocking back and forth. Your warmth was pressed against his front, your weight in his arms a comforting one.
Sometimes he felt selfish for having you like this. Like he was keeping you from someone, like he was wrong for keeping you a secret from the world, keeping you up here in your shared apartment.
Sometimes it felt wrong, leading you into a dance during the late evening, wrapping his arms around you, kissing your forehead. But the thing was, Jun wasn’t stupid.
You didn’t share an apartment with someone for nearly five years without there being something. You didn’t settle into a routine for five years, didn’t spend hundreds of nights pressed together on the couch watching television; didn’t wait up until late in the night for him to return, didn’t welcome his mother and little brother into the apartment with welcoming smiles and hugs.
He didn’t remember the last time you went on a date.
Or: Jun didn’t remember the last time you went on a date that wasn’t with him.
Yes: Jun wasn’t stupid.
He saw it. He saw how you took care of him, how you always made sure his favorite snacks were in the cupboard; how you went out and bought new soles for his shoes when he complained about his back hurting too much; how you looked at him when he wasn’t looking, how your voice always took this gentle tone with him, as if he was someone precious, someone you treasured.
He knew you were in love with him.
Just like he was in love with you.
But actually saying it, actually bridging the gap?
Jun sighed, pulling away. He looked down at you, his darling sweetheart with sparkling eyes. He brushed your hair back away from your forehead. “Let’s go find you some pants, baby.”
You blinked up at him, seemingly unable to process. Then you pouted, lips poking out and eyes furrowing.
Oh, how cute you were --
“‘m not cute,” you childishly protested. You blinked again, and Jun felt his heart plummet when your eyes took on a red hue and tears began to swell.
“Baby!” He gasped, hands moving to hold your cheeks. Jun brushed away the tears that began to drop with the tip of his fingers, feeling concern bubble up within him. “What’s wrong, darling?”
“You just --” A little sob left you, and you threw yourself forward and into his arms. Jun stumbled back at the sudden addition of your weight, his arms wrapping tightly around you. You nuzzled into him. “You just take such good care of me, Junnie.”
Jun chuckled, squeezing your shoulder. “I’m just returning --”
You shook your head against his chest. He reached up and brushed your hair back again, revealing a single red eye and tear tracks on your cheeks. “You don’t understand, Junnie! You -- you’re so good and handsome and sweet and silly, and I love you so much.”
His heart thudded against his ribcage; he was scared it was going to burst from his chest entirely.
Jun smiled down at you nonetheless, cupping your cheek in one of his hands. “And I love you.”
“No,” you shook your head again. “You don’t understand. I love you. Like. Like Captain Ri loves Seri.”
Jun’s heart flew out of his chest and left the building. It fucking flew away, soared through the sky and and rounded the earth. As a matter of fact, it took his brain with him, and the two decided to fly up to the moon and wave at the stars.
“You -- like. Like marry me levels of like?”
“Yes,” you sighed, as if he was dull. “We’re gonna move out of the apartment because we can’t have cats and then move into a little townhouse and adopt two of them so they don’t get lonely, and I’m gonna buy you a ring to match mine and we’ll share a bed and I love you so much.”
Jun’s heart returned to his chest and was fluttering and acting as if it were a butterfly trapped within his ribcage; his brain, however, was still up with the moon and sun.
Then you grinned up at him, tear tracks still visible against your cheeks. “Dude, we should adopt like, twelve cats.”
And he remembered the bottle of nearly-empty vodka, the spilled water, and his sensibilities. You were drunk, and while you were an honest drunk, it wasn’t fair of him to do this.
It wasn’t fair of Jun to pester you further, to make you unravel all your secrets; not when you were vulnerable like this. No matter how much he wanted to, how much he yearned to know about the sincerity of your words, he couldn’t.
Jun pressed a kiss to your forehead again, closing his eyes and exhaling. He felt you mirror him, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his chest.
“Love it when you give me kissies,” you mumbled against him.
“Well, I love kissing you.”
You blinked owlishly up at him, mouth agape. “Really?”
He laughed, both hands going to cup your cheeks and hold your face so he could press another kiss to your forehead. “Really, darling.”
Your smile was brighter than any star or sun in the universe. If you were sober, Jun would swoop down and press a kiss to your lips, but alas.
Instead he began guiding you towards your room. “I think we should get some pants on, don’t you? Wouldn’t want you getting cold. I heard that if you get too cold you turn into a penguin, no joke.”
“Nuh-uh.”
“Uh-huh,” Jun returned, reaching over to turn on the light of your room. Your room was messy, proof of how hard of a time you’ve been having lately. Clothes were strewn about, and your blankets were in a tangled mess. One of your pillows was on the foot of your bed, and your precious stuffed koala Jun had gotten you during one of his and Joshua’s dates to the fair was on the floor.
“People don’t turn into penguins, Junnie,” you said.
“They do if they’re cold,” Jun said. He left you standing in the doorway, moving to your dresser and pulling out a pair of sweats. “That’s how we got penguins. They’re just evolved from cold people.”
You were squinting at him when he returned. Jun held out your pants for a few moments, but you made no move to grab them from him. Finally you took your pants, holding out your hand; he offered his arm, and you held onto Jun as you slowly stepped into your pants one foot at a time.
“I want you to know that I know you’re making this up,” you told Jun.
Jun laughed, shoulders shaking. He ducked his head, blonde bangs obscuring his vision. Your grip on his arm eased, and your other hand was smoothing back his bangs and revealing his eyes once more.
“There you are,” you cooed at him, “my pretty boy.”
Then you yawned, wide enough to where Jun swore he saw down your throat. Despite seeing that, Jun still felt nothing but love for you as you blinked up at him sleepily, smiling like a dope.
“Okay, why don’t you lay down in your bed?” Jun pulled away, capturing your hand and pressing a kiss to your fingers. “I’m going to go get you some water, and then I’ll be back. All right?”
Jun returned to your room a few minutes later, cold cup of water in one hand and headache pills in the other for the morning. Despite the overhead light being on you were splayed out on your bed, face down and limbs going in every direction.
He paused for a second, worried. Then he saw your back slowly move up and down. Assured he hadn’t walked in on a crime scene, Jun continued his way into your room. He set the cup and pills on your bedside table before leaning down and yanking the blankets out from under you.
Grumbling, you rolled over on the bed and allowed Jun to gather the blankets. He took a few seconds to unravel them, and when he did he laid each one over your body.
You hummed in approval as he tucked the blankets around your body, patting your arm and legs as he did so. “All snug?”
“Snug,” you agreed.
Jun grabbed your koala off the ground. He hugged it to his chest, breathing in your scent that had rubbed off on the stuffie. Jun pressed a kiss to the koala’s forehead before setting it on the bed next to you.
Your breathing was completely evened out as he smoothed your hair away from your face. He traced his fingers alongside your temple, your cheek. He ran his pointer finger over your nose, feeling the decline of it. Your lips, feeling the plush flesh give beneath his finger, watching as you subconsciously licked your lips.
God, Jun was a fucking creep.
Jun pressed a kiss to your forehead, finally retreating. He made his way from your bedroom, only pausing when he got to the doorway. Jun hovered his hand over the light switch for a moment, hesitating. And then:
“I love you.”
And the light was switched off.
You were conscious for only a handful of seconds before you were fleeing from the warmth of your bed and sprinting to the bathroom, the pressure of your bladder too great to wait a moment longer.
Jun was laughing loudly through the bathroom door, and you opened it once you were finished washing your hands. Glaring at him, you flicked your still-damp hands at him, splashing him with droplets of water.
“Hey!” He laughed, reeling back a little. His eyes were sparkling, and his pretty pink lips were parted to reveal his grin. “Stop bullying me!”
“You’re the bully,” you mumbled, reaching up and shielding your eyes. Natural sunlight shined through the windows of your living room, reaching into the bathroom and offending your sensitive eyes. You shot Jun a glare as he laughed some more, flicking off the bathroom light and retreating to your room once more.
The sound of footsteps followed you. “I left some medicine by your bed for your headache.”
“Don’t have much of one,” you replied.
“Probably because you’ve slept until three in the afternoon,” Jun returned.
You spun around, eyes wide. Jun was leaning against your door frame, arms crossed over his chest. The sleeves of his grey t-shirt were rolled up to reveal his biceps, which were constantly gaining size as he increased his visits to the gym. His blonde bangs brushed against his eyes, and you couldn’t help but follow their movement as he flicked his head to get them out of his eyes.
“Three?”
“In the afternoon,” Jun finished. You sat down on the edge of your bed, crossing your legs. Jun sat down next to you, though he laid back and let his arms fall above his head. “Should’ve woken me up.”
“I tried, Grumpy,” Jun said. He reached out and tapped you, and you fell back to lay beside him. “Several times.”
“Evidently not hard enough.”
“Next time I’ll play the trumpet, if you want.”
“I guess that’ll work.” You stretched your arms over your head, and when you rested them your pinkie was brushing Jun’s. You tried not to think about it, but every time your fingers brushed it was as if every nerve in your body was concentrated on that one point. “I wasn’t horrible for you last night, was I?”
Jun shook his head. You turned your head slightly to see him already staring at you; when your eyes met, he smiled. “You’re never horrible for me when you’re drunk. Now when you’re sober --”
“Oh, hush,” you said, reaching out and slapping his arm. He let out a small noise of pain, but you ignored it. You shifted onto your side, leaning down and looking at him. “I really didn’t do anything bad?”
Humming, he tilted his head. He moved one hand to rest behind his head, and the other reached up for you. Your eyes fluttered as his hand brushed over your forehead, fingers gliding through your hair. “Nothing bad, but you said some interesting things.”
Fuck.
“Fuck,” you hissed. Your heart began to pick up speed, as if you were standing in front of a thousand people getting ready to perform a song you’d only heard once before. “Fuck.”
“Don’t worry!” Jun assured you, his fingers tracing over the shell of your ear. He pinched the lobe of your ear, causing you to wince. “You only confessed that you found me irresistible. And that you love me like Captain Ri and Yoo Seri love each other.”
You furrowed your brow, watching Jun. He stared up at you, eyes half-lidded, lips twisting into a little grin. He looked perfectly at ease, but at the same time, there wasn’t a single hint of true mischief on his face.
“Did I really?” You asked, voice small.
Jun nodded. His fingers dipped underneath your ear and traced your jaw. “Really. It was cute.”
“And?”
His fingers rested on your chin. He shifted his hand, and then his fingers were brushing against your lips. You let Jun trace your mouth, still leaning over him, heart beginning to calm. Jun’s touch was easing your nerves, and his apparent acceptance and serenity soothed you into following suit.
This was what often happened, you knew. Jun and you were both introverts; you didn’t like new situations. You hated crowds, hated the loudness of them and how close everyone stood together; you hated the unknown. But then when Jun was beside you, his features neutral and seemingly unbothered, it did something to you. It was as if his tranquility tricked your anxiousness, leaked into your soul and tamed the rough seas.
“And,” Jun murmured, “I love you.”
It was like when you found a blanket at the store and sunk your fingers into it, the feeling of smooth softness encompassing your digits completely. But instead of just your fingers it was your entire soul.
It wasn’t a big revelation, you thought; not a huge unknown that needed to be answered.
It was just another fact of life, you figured as you lowered your head to Jun’s. He shifted, elbows pressing into your mattress, raising himself to you. It was just another fact. The sun was yellow, the moon was white, the ocean is big and Wen Junhui loves you.
With your lips pressed to his, you had one last fleeting thought before his mouth consumed yours entirely: now you didn’t have to feel bad about not correcting the Aunties at the restaurant about him being your boyfriend.

Tumblr media
pairing: Jun x gender neutral!reader genre: fluff, angst, magical realism warnings: mentions of minor character death (offscreen) word count: 7.3k notes: this is a rewrite of something from maybe a year ago - it's gone through extensive edits and while the original premise is the same, it's changed a lot, so even if you read it before I hope you find something new :) When your grandmother passes, a spirit arrives on the sun and the snow, asking for a place to stay. As the years pass, you learn grief, love, and the complicated art of letting go.

When he arrives on your doorstep, hands cold from the snow and eyes warm as the sun, the moon has already been dim for a year.
The knock comes gentle against the worn wood of the old inn’s door—so gentle at first that once, twice it sounds before you truly hear it. By the time you’ve put down the pile of pale yellow wool turning into the beginnings of a scarf or a shirt or something in between, it has sounded a third time, and when you finally open the door, his hand is raised like he was bracing for a fourth.
You stare. He is the first to have approached your grandmother’s inn in the weeks since you moved in, and you do not recognize him from the town. Brown eyes stare back at yours, slanted almost mischievously at the tips yet deep and soft and sweet, while pale blond hair the color of your wool seems to sparkle like the sun on the snow outside. Light pink lips curve in an awkward smile, showing a hint of white teeth, and it’s not so much that he glows himself but that sunlight glints off the pale skin of his face, reflecting a soft sparkle around him that only makes it seem brighter. About your age, perhaps—late twenties, early thirties. Maybe a little younger. His eyes look like they have seen many more years than he seems, though.
It’s been too long, this silence, but still you have to look for a moment more. For it feels like you know him, even though you’ve never seen him before.
—Hello, you finally say, cautious, quiet.
—Hello, he replies, lowering the hand he had raised. The gesture, awkward and almost bashful, brings a curve to your own lips. Someone in town told me I could some here for a place to stay.
Words rise in your memory, unbidden. Never turn a stranger away from your door, child. A wink, with one wrinkle-lined eye. They just might be a god in disguise.
Your hand tightens around the worn doorknob. The inn has been closed since your grandmother left it to you, and locked inside you’ve kept the stories she told—of deities who once walked this plane, spirits who left remnants of magic in the earth beneath your feet. In the weeks since her death you didn’t allow yourself to remember, didn’t allow yourself to acknowledge the sparkles of magic that she used to point out to you day after day—the bright green laughing grass now covered by the snow, the howl of the wind whirling in the breeze.
You haven’t reopened. You’re still not sure you will, not when the ache of her absence continues to fill every room. Those of the town should know the news by now, but perhaps they thought this might still be all right.
Part of you urges to shake your head, give an apologetic smile, and close the door. He’s a strange man in a strange place, and where exactly could that go? But as a chilly wind whips through the tall stranger’s hair, his long fingers fidgeting quietly as fading sunlight catches on the single silver earring in his left ear, you wonder if, after all these years, a spirit has finally made its way to your grandmother’s inn once more.
Stories and legends, tales you could never tell were true or not. You fight back a tear as a thought surfaces—that your grandmother sent this spirit to you, to make sure you would be all right.
—Of course. What is your name?
When he smiles, it seems as though the rising moon regains a touch of its original shine.
—Thank you. My name is Jun.
. . . . .
And—that’s it. For a time. It’s all he tells you about himself anyway, just his name and nothing else. What you learn in passing comes from casual action and conversation, things he lets slip as he accompanies you on your wanderings through the many rooms of your grandmother’s old, empty inn. It’s not so much him letting things slip, though, as you noticing the way he simply falls into place like the last pieces of a puzzle you never realized was unfinished—the shyness of his laugh sparkling through the dust motes spinning through the air, his long fingers drawing back the heavy drapes that once covered the lobby windows. He takes the room across from yours on the first floor, and when you open the door the next morning to see him stumbling out of his, rubbing sleep out of his eyes, it feels like you are only saying good morning to an old friend when you smile.
Which makes no sense, of course. Because you don’t know him. You’ve never seen this man once in your life before he showed up at the inn’s front door. What could you know about a man as enigmatic as the moon, who reflects all the light in the room and makes it brighter all on his own? But as the days go by, as you learn his shyness, his gentleness, the way his crescent smiles come soft and slow, a waxing and waning curve of his lips that reflects the sunlight streaming through the inn’s large windows and cuts through the dark chill that had seemed to fill the inn before, it doesn’t feel like you’re learning much at all. More like…remembering. Settling. Reacquainting yourself with the characteristics of a good friend you haven’t seen in ages. Somehow, though he is only one person sleeping in the same one room every night, the stately old place your grandmother left you doesn’t feel nearly as empty as it once did, not with his comfortable presence around.
He’s quiet. Calm. Prone to confusion when you use a phrase he doesn’t seem to know, and giggling fits when he sees something he deems cute or strange. He’s eager to help when you slowly rouse yourself to sweep the dust from the rooms, and he doesn’t ask when you pause in front of a larger door on the top floor, then turn away without a word. He has a lovely little laugh that sounds like the first spring flowers coming into bloom, bringing warmth to the silent hallways you’d long forgotten how to walk, and joy etches itself in the tiny wrinkles around his eyes that appear when he smiles. You find he has a special affinity for the cats that sometimes show up on the inn grounds and perhaps, you think, it’s because he’s a little like them himself—closed off and skittish at first, but soft, and sweet, and so, so warm when he finally turns to you with his truest smile.
In the cold remnants of winter, you learn his favorite tea, how he drinks it slow, sip by tiny sip. The long fingers that twist and fidget and eventually like to tangle with your own become still when he wraps them around his favorite mug of yours, white porcelain with the figures of three kittens playing around the edges. Those same fingers lift up the lid of the lobby grand piano one day, untouched since your grandmother last played, and begin to dance on their own across the yellowing keys, spinning starlit melodies into the air. His hands always seem to be cold, or at least take a while to warm up after being outside, but the tea helps. So does playing scales. And, eventually, holding your own hands that he always says are so much warmer than his.
When spring tints the air and flowers begin to bloom, you almost wonder if Jun’s warmth will fade, somewhat, in a season marked by the sun, by the blue sky, by the days that grow longer at the expense of the moon’s soft glow. It doesn’t, though—grows, even, as you walk with him through the soft grass on the outskirts of the town, his smile tossing sunlight kind, carefree, into the air around him. On walks like these you come to learn his favorite blossom, the pale jasmine he settles gently behind your ear, and how he never picks them, only gathers up the blooms that have already fallen on the ground to create lovely bouquets you set at the dining table later in the night. When summer hangs cheerful in the sky you begin to leave the lobby windows open, the heavy curtains brushed to the sides by Jun’s delicate hands, and you learn how far the cheer of his laugh can carry and how his voice accompanies the piano as he sings, melodic threads twining sweetly in the air. You show him midnight recipes—cold noodles, cookies, cool milk that you share with the cats milling about outside—and his hand in yours is always warm, but somehow, despite the heat of the sun on your skin, you can’t find it in yourself to pull away, not when he reflects the sun’s glow in his waxing and waning smiles, not when he squeezes your hand tighter and pulls you closer to him.
Finally, when the last dregs of autumn begin to pass and the first year winds to a close, you learn how Jun’s laugh softens with the fading sun, how, no matter the biting chill in the air, he still reflects the sun’s quiet glow until he seems to be the one who warms the room (and perhaps he is, with his moonlit melodies and starlit smile). Under the gentle rays of the sky’s fading light, the fast-growing chill of the billowing wind, the curve of Jun’s enigmatic crescent smile steadies you as dead leaves crunch beneath your feet. And as the first snows begin to swirl through the wind, mimicking the dust motes Jun helped you sweep away, you look outside at the moon that had faded, and you can’t help but think that perhaps, over the year, its smile has finally grown a little brighter.
. . . . .
And so the first year comes and goes, and when the chill of winter fully returns, you don’t worry as much about the empty rooms, the once-faded moon, the memories of your grandmother that still fill the air. There is Jun, and there is his warmth, and for now that is all you need.
But then he disappears. For a few hours, first. Then a few days. Until twice a month he leaves without notice, and with such irregularity that it slowly becomes regular.
He always returns, you learn. But the first morning you wake up and he doesn’t greet you with sleepy eyes smiling as he opens his door, you panic. Because what happened to him and where did he go and does he need help and what if he left, left you alone, left you in this  empty house to cope again with the memories just like your grandmother did when she died—
—Where were you? you ask when he returns the next night and you can finally speak without wanting to cry? Where did you go? Why didn’t you let me know?
—I’m sorry, he replies, his long fingers fidgeting again. The dimness of the barely crescent moon outside casts dark shadows across his face, only a thin sliver of his cheek illuminated by starlight. I didn’t realize you would worry this much.
—How could I not?
—I don’t know. No one really has, before.
Candlelight flickering, silence hanging oppressive in the air.
—I was worried.
When he smiles, heavy and tragic, it is as though the moon’s darkness never left.
—I know.
(That night, when you crawl under the covers in a room too big for you and the questions you don’t have answers to, you remember where you live, where Jun came. And you remember something your grandmother told you when you were old enough to know, to understand.
No one stays forever at an inn.
No one.)
. . . . .
You think—hope—that might be the end of it. Or that, at least, he’ll tell you before he next goes. But despite his apologies, he still leaves a second time, and a third, and then a fourth and fifth, all without warning. And though you never truly grow used to the way each room echoes with a renewed emptiness in the hours and days he is gone, you force yourself to accept it. That his irregularity is his regularity. That he cannot—or will not—fight against what drives him to leave.
(Acceptance doesn’t stem the fear that someday he will go, and there will be no warning, and when that day comes, he will not return.)
So winter fades with its ice and snow, and spring comes, then summer, with their warmth and flowers. And on a night where Jun isn’t here, where the faded moon shines fully in the dark sky, you find yourself in front of a room on the top floor that you ignored when you two cleaned the inn the first time. The room where you stopped. Thought. Passed without a word, where Jun didn’t pry.
This time, you open the door.
Your grandmother’s presence folds around you like a warm cloak of boxes and drapes, warped wooden floorboards and old furniture sitting on top. Almost immediately your knees give out. You catch yourself on the floor, sending up a cloud of dust, but for all your watering eyes you don’t really notice because she is so strong here. So warm. So comfortable. As though you could reach out a hand to the air and she would materialize before you, her fingers clutching yours, her eyes already wrinkling into a mischievous smile.
For a long time, you only sit. Stare. Take in the things she amassed during life, the things she packed away that were never the inn’s but hers, and hers only. An old, moth-eaten armchair. A couple of trunks tied with dusty rope. Boxes with spidery handwriting on the sides labeling things you can’t quite read through the tears bubbling in your eyes, a few tarps draped over it all.
—Did you send him? you ask the dust swirling through the air.
(And if you did, why did you send someone who had to leave? Who couldn’t stay?)
She doesn’t answer, of course. But you sit there, waiting as though she will, until the gray light of dawn begins to peek through the folds of curtains you didn’t part, and you finally pick yourself up from the floor to return downstairs and wait for Jun to return.
. . . . .
He returns that evening amidst summer showers, rain glittering on his face like little diamonds pressed to his skin. You’re back in the room on the top floor, sitting, staring, and only when a soft knock sounds at the cusp of afternoon-evening do you find it in yourself to move again.
—Hi.
Jun’s eyes, deep brown and cratered wide. His graceful nose, his pale face, his thin lips, still covered with the thin diamond sheen of rain. You can hear droplets pattering against the window from where you still haven’t managed to push the drapes away.
—You’re shivering.
You hadn’t realized you were, but when he says it, you become aware of the slight tremble in your shoulders, at the vague chill in the air from the day’s confusion as to whether it is still summer, or if the winter will be coming soon. At the concern on his face you try to smile.
—I’m all right.
You don’t expect him to believe you. But you also don’t expect him to take a step closer and fold you into his arms.
He’s warm and cool at the same time—peaceful, a tiny respite from the overwhelming presence of your grandmother in all the boxes and drapes in this old room. His long fingers tap soft rhythms into your back, his breath quiet against your ear, and when you finally pull away, your eyes are wet not just with the remnants of rain but with tears again, too.
Jun smiles quietly. That little silver earring that has never left his ear glints in the evening darkness, a piece of light reflected in his eyes. Outside, you think the moon has begun to rise, faint light pooling right where he stands.
—Do you want help?
. . . . .
It takes several long days to bring the room to a semblance of cleanliness, dust swept from the corners until your nose no longer itches, the floor mopped until you no longer fear tracking grime into the halls when you and Jun leave. But one night, it is done. Mostly. The boxes remain unopened, the tarps not yet pushed away, but the floor is clean and you can breathe a little better.
Jun rubs his nose, which is red from sneezing. His eyes follow you as you kneel in front of one of the trunks, reaching for the knot in the rope tying it shut. For a moment you fumble with the tie. Then it falls away, and your hand grazes the edge of the lid. Ready to open. Not ready to open.
You pull the lid up.
A cloud of dust wafts up and you whip around, coughing into your arm as Jun laughs from a few feet away. When you stop choking you find that he has come to you, his eyes bright and cheerful, and for all you wanted to scowl at him when he started laughing, you find you can only smile.
—What’s all this?
You hold up a candle carefully, squinting into the trunk’s contents. Immediately you know, though you’ve never seen any of the books before.
Music.
Jun’s sharp intake of breath brings you back to earth. When you look at him his eyes are shining bright with wonder, and you think to his hands waltzing across the lobby piano’s yellow keys, drawing sounds from its depths the way only your grandmother had been able to, years before.
—Let’s take them. You pick up a few books of your own, their dusty paper covers rough against your skin as you smile. I want to hear you play.
He plays piece after piece that night, some that you recall from childhood, others you remember having learned yourself, even more you have never once heard in your life but that your grandmother must once have known, learned, and cherished when she lived. And after you see Jun to his room that night, you take the stairs softly up to the room again. Take in the sight of the dusty, empty trunk still sitting where you left it.
It feels a little easier to breathe.
. . . . .
As summer winds to a close, as the slight chill of fall begins to take to the air, you slowly empty the boxes and trunks in the old storage room, airing out their dust, unearthing the bits and pieces of your grandmother that she left behind for you to find. Pictures of her and your grandfather, who died before you were born. Small trinkets from travels she told you about when you were little. Financial papers yellowed with age, letters bound in ribbon that you can’t find it in yourself to read, novels with worn covers and crinkled pages. And music. Not quite as much as the stacks of books you found in the first trunk, but sheets scattered here and there that Jun happily picks up, adding to the miniature concerts he plays for you in the evening to ward away the chill.
He helps you through it all—works at the knots in the ropes with you, folds up the tarps you lift away, sweeps up the dust that falls from newly opened boxes and trunks, holds you when the memories overwhelm and you find it hard to breathe. And in those moments when he is there, you almost forget that this is an inn, and that he must leave. But he always does. New moon. Full moon. New moon. Full moon. And as the moon grows brighter when he is gone, like it is happier without you, you begin closing your window against the light that still permeates your room anyway.
The words slip out on a night when it is more fall than summer, after the remnants of dinner have been cleared away and only the stars are awake to hear you speak. Bravery or stupidity, courage or fear, you don’t know—a desperate bid for something, anything to hang on to when Jun next leaves and you’re left to cope with the memories, music haunting your ears, ghosts tracing the walls.
—Where do you go when you’re gone?
He pauses at the piano, long, pale fingers stopping between the turning pages of his music. Silence reigns for a while, long enough for you to nearly backtrack and say never mind, never mind, despite the need to know curdling in your veins.
—I go to a place I once called home.
Your throat threatens to close, but you get the next words out, somehow.
—Do you not still call it home?
In response, he takes a single sheet of music from the piano, one he just played—a soft melody that barely lasted two minutes, but that resonated through the room, deep, heavy nostalgia that had drawn the question from your throat. Every piece he plays is beautiful beneath his fingertips but for some reason, the echoes of this piece stay with you, merging into your breath, tickling its way through your ears, as he hands the score to you.
—The composer was far from home when he wrote this, Jun says quietly as you trace the black notes on the worn, yellow page. He needed to run. To escape. He never saw it again after he had to move, but…in the end, he only ever wanted to go home.
Dark eyes flicker to the window, pale skin reflecting the starlight and the glow of the full moon. It’s your turn to watch him, this time, as the faint moonlight lends a familiar golden tinge to his face that you have never seen but that you know, anyway.
Only a few physical feet separate the two of you in this moment, the distance between Jun’s piano bench and your armchair easily traversable in just one step, maybe two. For all the look in his eyes right now, though, you could be centuries apart.
—I once wanted to escape. I was so lonely. I wanted to find someone who could care for me. Who could make me feel worth something.
—Did you?
He looks at you now. Traps you in the moment, his blond hair illuminated by the moon, pooling around his feet. An enigmatic smile dances on his lips.
—I did.
Silence falls gentle, heavy, the leftover notes from the melody fading softly into the air, the dust of the old sheet music settling on the floor. Against your will, you stare at the piano with its worn and yellowing keys that your grandmother once showed you to play. You were never as good as she, though Jun would have been a match.
What might she have thought of Jun if they’d met now, in the physical plane? She would have liked him, you think—liked his soft-spoken voice, his sweet, awkward nature, and the way he seems to amplify the warmth and light of the room with his cratered eyes and waxing-waning crescent smile. Their musical styles are different, from what you remember of hers, but she would have enjoyed his interpretations of the same pieces she loved.
Tears nearly spring into your eyes. Yes, she would have liked him. She would have liked him very much.
A question burns on your tongue as he stands, as you stand, as you both walk to your rooms and bid each other goodnight. You don’t ask. But he must hear it anyway, lingering in your eyes and on your tongue even as you shut your door.
(Where is your home?)
You’re not sure if you can hear his answer, not when you don’t have one yourself. Because while you’re still trying to escape, Jun has already made peace.
He knows his home, even if you don’t.
. . . . .
Still, though, he stays. For you or for something else, you’re not sure. But through the end of summer and the billows of fall, still he comes and he goes, wanders and returns, and though his presence comforts, something about it—you’re not sure what—has begun to hurt.
He’s playing the same piece when autumn has begun to give way to winter, when you find a familiar pile of yellow wool in the drawer of one of the little tables beside the lobby couches. Part of it has been knit into some shape, but only barely—easy enough for you to decide it will be a scarf, a decision you didn’t get to make two years ago, and easy enough for you to pick up the needles from where the universe left them and for their gentle clicking to accompany Jun’s music flowing about the room. Not so easy anymore when the cat Jun let inside begins batting at the pile of yarn, little claws catching on the wool, but easy enough. Easy enough.
The night before, when Jun was gone, you went up to the storage room yourself. Though the room has been mostly cleared, boxes opened and some things rearranged around the inn, others pushed in neater piles against the walls, your grandmother’s presence still wrapped around you the second you entered. Something in the walls, you suppose, in the notes of dust that still flicker, magical, in the air. The fact that this room was hers, the way the rest of the inn was and wasn’t.
You didn’t open the curtains. You thought about it, even touched the heavy cloth with a single hand, felt it fold beneath your palm. But the moon was so bright then, so full. It hurt so much. So you kept it closed. The memory of those closed curtains, unable to shield you from the glowing contentment of the moon, helps you meet his eyes as his hands leave the piano, the knitting needles flashing between your fingers, their rhythmic clicking steadying your heart.
—Where is your home, Jun?
The lobby echoes with the silence after your question, broken only by the kitten batting at your wool. Her little head butts against your hand and you stroke it gently, eyes still trained on the spirit sitting in front of you.
He draws breath. Sighs. Looks down at his hands, down at yours, and looks back at you.
—Wherever I am not lonely.
The clicking between your fingers stops. Silver needles bury themselves in the yellow yarn like the cat’s claws, the cat that now detaches itself from the wool to jump into Jun’s lap instead, purring softly. You stare at it, at the yarn, at the empty spot on the couch it used to occupy. The spot someone else used to occupy, once, smiling fondly as you played with her own yarn on her knee. Someone who belonged here far more than you.
—Where have you been lonely?
—Many places. Jun’s smile turns small, wan. Not all are as welcoming as you have been.
Your mind returns to the first time he disappeared, the first time he returned and you couldn’t speak for several hours without crying.
I didn’t realize you would worry this much, he had said. And you had found it so hard to believe no one would—that no one would worry about this lovely spirit disappearing without a word. But it’s true. Not all are kind. And perhaps, before your inn, Jun had encountered more unkindness than you were willing to believe at the time.
You swallow.
—Are you lonely here?
—No. The answer is quick, certain. So is his next question. Are you?
His eyes won’t allow yours to flicker away, moonlight holding you captive as it flows around the two of you, encasing you in pale light. The cat purrs in Jun’s arms, but he only looks at you.
It hurts to admit it, but you do.
—Yes. When you’re not here.
He nods. Nods again. And then he sets the old page back on top of the piano, and you speak no more until the music has stopped for the night and he asks a final question to you.
—Who’s that for?
You look down at the half-finished scarf, and the needles you’ve just stuck into the rest of the unknit pile. I’m not sure.
But as you lie awake in bed that night, staring out of your window at the full moon and its familiar golden tinge, you realize it was a dumb question, with an even dumber answer. Because it’s obvious. Even though the universe had you begin the scarf with no thought of its future owner, as it grows longer and longer under nights of soft music warmed by the reflection of sunlight on Jun’s lovely face, when you look at the man whose smile waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon, you know, and the world knows.
Of course the scarf is for him.
. . . . .
In the days after, as the scarf grows longer, as the wind turns colder, as the moon fades to black and Jun disappears again, you think. Ponder. Try to confront the fear in your heart that sprang fully formed when you realized who the scarf was for, because as the woolen links drape across your lap and the cushions of the lobby armchair, you can’t shake the feeling that giving him this yellow scarf, this warmth woven of sunlight reflecting off of sparkling snow feels…final, almost. Like something ends with the tying of the last knot, something you’re not ready to give up just yet.
Jun is ready. You know that, and it hurts and terrifies you. Because he must have suffered—must have gone from home to home, begging, pleading for someone to recognize the lonely spirit he was, and found nothing but a frosty chill instead—but he found the strength to continue. And eventually, he found you, who would love him. Who would cherish him. And somehow, that is enough for him—enough that he no longer feels lonely, even when he is away from you. Enough for him to pull away, because he knows this is not the plane on which he belongs, even though it is yours.
But you’re not ready. You still—you still need him. Need his warmth, need the moonlight reflectance of his smile to guide you through the day. Without him, how do you return to the emptiness of the inn where everyone leaves and no one stays, where the polished wooden floors and walls echo with the silence of your footsteps, memories haunting everywhere you look?
Deep inside, you know he cannot stay. That the spirit plane, however it may intersect with the mortal world, is separate from yours. And it makes you laugh, a little, when you remember how you felt you had learned Jun during the first year of his stay—because you will never know the moon. Will never understand his enigmatic smiles, never parse the way his fingers trace so cool and so warm against the skin of your cheek, never dissect how he can stand to be so selfless, returning to you from each of his trips home because he knows you cannot live without him.
—How do you continue, Jun? you force yourself to ask under a waning gibbous moon, three days after his last foray to a place he once called home. The autumn-fading-winter wind blows crisp through the air, ruffling Jun’s hair where he sits beside you in front of the inn, petting one of the stray cats that has settled on his lap. You trace the lines of the cracked stone on the ground, ripples of time rough and bitter beneath your fingertips, hoping he knows what you mean from the five brittle words you managed to speak.
(How do you move on? How do you make peace with the memories? How do you let go of the grief, how do you remember someone as who they were and forget about how they left you, forget how they will never be able to stay?)
He’s quiet for a moment. When he looks at you, you brace yourself.
—I cannot answer for you, he says, and your heart plummets. That is for you to find in yourself.
He takes your hand, though. Presses it between his own, and even through the despair closing up your throat, you find it in yourself to take comfort in his moonlit warmth.
—But I will tell you this, he says quietly. To me, to know that there is someone who I love, and who loves me—that is enough. Even if I am not with them. Because my home is in the memories we share.
His smile is blinding, bright as the moon and more. And through the gnarled desperation twisting in your heart, you allow a piece of that brightness to prick its way into the brambles.
. . . . .
Letting go, you decide, is an art. A painful art, disentangling the nettles from the brambled wall you’ve built around your heart to shield you from the pain of reminiscence, but an art all the same in the way you carefully examine each thorn, stinging your fingertips and palms as you pull the branches apart, pinpricks of blood scattering across the canvas of your pain, your grief, the loss you feel every time you look up at the dim sky and the empty rooms around you, your grandmother’s presence lingering in every corner and crevice.
Some days, when Jun is gone, you nearly give up. Nearly decide the thorns in your hands aren’t worth it, that the brambles prevent more pain than they bring, that letting go is an art you will never master—because you can’t, and you won’t. You can’t give up the only person, spirit, who’s brought you comfort in this time, you can’t willingly give up what you have now because you need him here or you’ll drown in the emptiness of these large, quiet rooms.
But that’s unfair. Because the moon doesn’t belong on earth, and the earth doesn’t belong on the moon. For all the semblance of home Jun has found with you, you are not the only home he carries with him. Where he lives—what he is—it’s not here. It’s not here, not in this old, empty inn, with you, because an inn is never a permanent home for anyone but the owner. For anyone else, it is rest, respite, temporary comfort. More temporary for some than others, but it is a place of letting go.
Nights pass. The scarf grows longer, the storage room cleaner. And though the pain of Jun’s absence still aches in your chest, the cool silver needles and the heavy window curtains begin to soothe more of the sting. When you look up at him on the days he is here, his own fingers gliding across old piano keys, you breathe, and you remember, and you let yourself into the thorns and nettles of memory once more. Because what is Jun’s home cannot be yours.
And so you will find your own, in a place where you once never felt lonely.
It’s slow work, slower than you would have liked. In what world does anyone not want to dash the pain away quickly, strip off the bandages in one fell swoop and find the skin and tissue already unscarred and whole beneath? But with every disappearance you’re running out of time so you work at the thorns, slowly and slowly and slowly, and as Jun’s enigmatic smile grows a little wider every time the scarf grows a little longer, as a hint of something soft begins to chase away the aching sympathy in his eyes when he looks at you under the faded night sky, you find in his smile a quiet balm for the pain in your fingers, in your palms, in your heart.
When you pull the final branches away, there are scars etched in your chest that will never fully heal, patterns of time to mimic the lines carved on your skin. Memories of thorns still prick your palms and something aches awful in your heart as you stare at the mess you have made of yourself in forcing memories out of their old home to avoid the pain you thought they would bring, but then you look at the moon as you tie off the final knot on the pale yellow woolen scarf and when you do he smiles back, something akin to pride, and maybe gratitude, in his eyes.
That night, after seeing Jun off to bed, you walk upstairs to the room where your grandmother stored her memories. The moon is almost full and its light shines bright, strong enough to just barely filter through the heavy curtains still draped across the glass.
Taking a deep breath, you take one curtain in each stinging, thorn-wounded hand. Push them aside. Let the moon’s smile bathe the room pale light.
No blood stains the fabric, even as your heart aches at the sight.
. . . . .
You give him the scarf the next day, a night where winter is stronger than fall, loop it around his neck when he leaves the piano to sit at your side. He played that piece again, the composer’s reminiscence of home, and its notes still linger in your ears as you settle the scarf at his throat.
Jun doesn’t react at first, only touches a finger to the wool, the color of the sun on the snow the day he first knocked on your door. It’s as though he knew it was made for him, even before you did. The way you knew his crescent smile, the wax and wane of the brightness in his eyes, the reflection of the sun off his skin, before he even arrived.
He stops you before you go to bed that night, puts a hand on your shoulder and gently turns you around. For a moment you only look at each other, candlelight reflecting off your faces, a glow that joins the pale moonlight pooling on the ground.
Thank you for the scarf, he says quietly, his fingers tangling with yours. His breath ghosts past your cheek, eyes crinkling at the corners into a soft, slow smile. And for letting me stay.
You go back to the storage room when he closes his door, sit on the moth-eaten armchair and stare out the window at the full, full moon. Sometime later the first snow begins to fall, floating pitter-patter against the glass, and, lulled by its soft rhythm, you allow yourself to sleep.
When morning comes with the shimmering sun on ice, Jun is gone.
This time, he doesn’t come back.
Reality seems to blur as the days go by, one without Jun, two without Jun, three, four, six, ten. Sometimes you sit in the inn’s empty lobby and squint at the grand piano still standing in the middle of the floor and for a moment, you can’t quite recall whether it’s always been there, or if it simply came into existence when Jun’s music followed him into your home. Everything feels dim, faded, like the shadow that had settled over the moon for so long, and sometimes you debate leaving. Leaving the inn and memories of a loving grandmother and laughing spirit that lie here, burying what you had with those you loved and running away from the remnants that chase you.
But where would you go? There’s nothing in the world you have except this inn and those memories, and for all remembering hurts, they were treasures. Treasures that sparkle with a happiness that hurts a little too much right now, but that you wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Treasures that will be a balm, in time, to the scars they left behind.
Treasures that tell you, someday, you will have your home.
Sometimes, sitting at the old piano, you wonder if he was real. If he really existed, the spirit with cratered eyes and hair the color of the sun on icy snow. But it doesn’t matter, really. Because you remember him—the sleepy eyes, the wide smile, the soft voice that waltzed with long fingers across ivory keys and spun music to life, tapestries of notes that settled gentle, ephemeral in the night air before a single breath blew them away. You remember him, and you remember an album of pastel memories and watercolor laughs, pages left to dry under winter sunshine, the color of a pale yellow scarf that a laughing man wears around his neck, its ends fluttering in the breeze.
An album leaf. A page of memory. Loved in the moment that it was there, and someday, later on, turned over and smoothed with care. Remembered.
And when you look out of the window at the full moon glowing brightly in the sky, you know the memory will be treasured, too.
One evening, when the seasons have passed and winter has come to your inn once more, you sift through the music you had unearthed from that trunk so many months ago, the music now stacked around the piano in haphazard piles. You pull a single yellow sheet from the depths. The few guests who have settled at your inn since its opening retired to bed hours ago, leaving you alone to sit on a restored armchair pulled out of storage and trace black notes printed on old, crinkled paper, letting their melodies shiver through your skin, your ears, your memory.
That night, you take a walk along the streets of the town. Lamps light the way, but you follow the path of the full moon on powdered snow, not a single shadow draped across its cratered surface. There’s music in the wind and you walk with it, fingers tapping where they rest in the pockets of your coat.
A flash of movement catches your eye. You turn and there’s a little cat slinking through the powdery white streets, moonlight glinting off its smooth, pale fur. It looks at you, and you look at it, and then you crouch down and extend a hand as it shyly pads closer through the snow.
You smile, remembering a shy man twisting his fingers at your door. Hair blond, not white, but gentle and sweet just like this creature cautiously butting its head against your palm.
—Hello there, you murmur. The moon looks lovely tonight, doesn’t it?
The cat purrs, like it agrees. Like it also knows the man you knew, and knows that he is where he needs to be, like you.
Smiling softly, you glance up at the moon and its reflective glow. It seems to brighten as you stare at it, moonlight pooling softly on the glittering snow.
The cat purrs again and you turn back, soft with the moon and the memories. Sweet laughter, dark eyes. A crescent bright smile, an album leaf.
A gentle melody humming through the air, and a yellow scarf rippling in the wind.

☆ asks you to help him with his ties
jun wore his first ever tie to a christmas dinner hosted by some family when he was eight years old. he hated it and showed it with a frown on his face the whole evening. the day he forced himself to wear a tie again was for his highschool senior year ball, the one he had asked you out for. he would have preferred to wear a bow tie but he remembered you complimenting one of your mutual friend's tie and decided that if it was for you, he wouldn't mind. the only problem was that he did not know how to put a tie on. and when it was time to pick you up from your house and his tie was crooked and misplaced, you only gigged and ushered him inside, putting his tie on correctly for him while your parents took pictures. from that day on, jun would often wear ties, and you were the one to help him put them on, even if he picked up the technique years ago (which is something he would never tell you).
☆ puts both of your hands in his pocket when it's cold
jun likes your hands. he likes the way they feel against his, he likes the way they fit in his and he likes to play with your fingers when he's bored. in short, he's a big fan of them. so it's not a surprise that he likes hand holding. in fact, if he didn't hold your hand when going out, you would think something was wrong with him. so jun, one of the biggest fans of hand holding, hates the winter. his only reason is because when it's freezing cold, you stuff your hands in your pockets, which means no hand holding. for him, that reason is enough and it makes you and his friends laugh every time he mentions his hands feeling cold because you're not holding them. you like to tease him about it by deliberately breaking free from his grasp and choosing for your pockets instead, the visible scoff on his face making you pinch his cheek. so after weeks of teasing, jun had enough and decided that he wasn't going to let you get away anymore, forcing your intertwined hands into his jacket pocket. it became a habit and jun had a smug look on his face the whole walk home.
☆ always texts you first after succeeding in something
when jun got his first phone, the first thing he did was ask for your number. when he passed his highschool exam, he sent you a text first. when he got accepted after his dance audition, he called you first. in all the years you have known jun, he has always made sure you were the first one to know of his success. if you couldn't physically be there with him, you would be glued to your phone the whole day, patiently waiting for a text or a call and jumping up when his contact name appeared on your phone screen. for you two, it's like a tradition, a must-do in your relationship. one night when you two were out drinking with some friends, jun came to you and drunkenly apologized for not texting you first that day. you were quite surprised at his teary eyes and comforted him when it seemed like the only words he knew at that moment were "i am sorry". the next day, after sobering up, exchanging a few glances and an awkward breakfast, he sits down to explain. jun wants to share his victory with you before anyone else and wants you to be proud of him like he is of himself, that is why he always tells you first. it's quite an emotional talk for the both of you and you end the day hugging and cuddling, but even then, you think you could never thank jun enough for trusting you.
☆ always sends you cat pictures
people in jun's life have always, and i mean really always, told him he was a cat. not a cat person, no, a cat. they would even sometimes compare him to one of his neighbor's cats whenever they saw him! jun thought it was all ridiculous until his friends showed him a video they took of him petting a cat. at that moment, jun understood and could do nothing but accept. but instead of trying to bury his cat-like character, he took it like a champ. he fully accepted his friends' teasing and was even proud of being compared to such an adorable creature. the last straw for his friends was when he started sending cat memes and pics in their group chat. jun and you started dating after the whole cat ordeal and so you didn't think anything of it when he sent you those pictures, you even thought it was cute! but then you found out and oh you laughed. you laughed so much jun could only look at you in annoyance. you had to reassure him you weren't making fun of him at all, you just thought it was cute and funny. at the word cute, jun grinned and nuzzled against your palm, making you laugh even more (you were met with a blank stare). the pictures never stopped and seeing "goodmorning ynnie!! hope you slept well and have fun today! i love you :]" with a cat pic attached always makes your day.

Tumblr media
Realistically, you should be in bed.
It’s late, and you’re supposed to be doing homework, and you have work in the morning. If you really wanted to be good about the whole thing, you should’ve been asleep about two hours ago. But Jun’s a good roommate, and tacos sounded amazing.
(Plus, he said it so gently when he knocked on your door – “I’m gonna grab something to eat, d’you want anything? Need a break, maybe?” It’s almost impossible to say no.)
And the tacos were amazing. And Jun is an amazing roommate. You’re starting to think he’s also an amazing kisser.
Out of all the things you were expecting from a late night taco run/break from homework/whatever this was, making out with Jun in the back of his car was not one of them. You don’t think he expected this either, but his hands feel so warm on your hips, contrast to the cold weather outside. He breathes into you and the radio plays an ad you swear you’ve heard a million times before.
He smells so good. You wonder what cologne he uses, and why you’ve never bothered to ask. Wonder how it’s taken you this long to smell it so close. His tongue parts your lips and you sigh, melt into his chest. The thumb resting on one hip slips under your shirt, skin against skin. It makes you burn in his backseat.
“Jun,” you breathe when you manage to pull yourself away from him. He nuzzles into your neck, presses a few mind-numbing kisses against your jaw. “Junnie.”
“Hmm,” he responds. You bring your hand from his shoulder to his chest.
“We should get back home,” you tell him. He pulls away to look at you, eyes hooded in the dark. “‘S late. Got work tomorrow.”
You hope he doesn’t question your succinct sentences. Truth be told, you could sit here in his lap all day, and the few minutes you have been have left your brain lagging behind a little bit. But he smiles, tucks some hair out of your face, and you swoon.
“Get your shift covered,” he says. You shake your head, and his hand cups your cheek. “Seriously.”
“Not that easy,” you breathe, but you let him pull you in for another kiss anyways. It feels like heaven, and you’d be lying if you said you never thought about this before – you live with him. He cooks with you most nights, indulges you in your throw-pillow buying, tries to coerce you into getting a cat. Sometimes you see the sliver of a blue bass guitar through the crack in his door and tease him about playing for you, introducing you to his bandmates. He never does, but you often hear the low run of a bassline through the thin walls connecting your rooms.
Jun hums against your lips. “You’ve been working so much,” he notes, barely breaking away from you. “Just wanna help you relax, honey. ‘Cause you deserve it.”
His voice is so smooth, how could you ever say no? The windows are starting to fog. You feel hazy, blinking uselessly in the dark, trying to cope with the weight of Jun’s words, the implications they hold.
“Home,” you decide. Jun frowns, but you take his wrist and guide his hand further up your shirt until it’s completely hidden. “Home first, and then…”
“Then?” He asks, gentle smirk on his lips.
“Then…” you breathe, shoving all of your thoughts and doubts out the window. “Then whatever you want.”

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤
100 years ago it was thought that the Earth, as we know it, would disintegrate. That the sun would implode and leave everything in darkness. Miraculously, it didn’t. Due to some external force, human scientists still haven’t agreed upon what it exactly was, none of the planets in our former solar system were ever destroyed. The Earth, along with the other planets, were pushed away from each other, and ended up in different parts of the universe. Earth just happened to come to a solar system with alien life. At first, we were cautious, and people were prepared to fight. However, the aliens were welcoming of our planet. Those of us who didn’t die from ‘The Great Journey’ or from trying to fight the aliens, were welcomed into the new solar system. Soon enough, we had integrated completely, and we received materials and assistance from our sister-planets in exchange for human labor. What humans knew of technology was very limited, but with the resources of the aliens we created artificial life forms. We named these robots Automaton, and they served as workers when humans couldn’t. Eventually, there was no need for human labor at all. To pay back for the help the aliens gave us, we used Automatons. With the extensive development of these robots, we eventually managed to create artificial sentient life. These Automatons were human-like in looks and had human consciousness, but they could not bleed and were stronger than we ever could be. At the present time, there are even different levels of Automatons. Level 3 robots are the workers, level 2 robots are the caretakers, and level 1 robots are the celebrities. The Automaton music group 53V3NT33N (SEVENTEEN) is made up of 13 members, all very talented, and all representing two human states of mind.”
At least these were subjects mostly taught to them and how it came to be in the evolution of history. To Jun, at least, but now his group, 53V3NT33N, made ways to escape. His hatred and passion interwoven at the current moment in the hallway. Looking back to see Mingyu among others helping all the robots in the group to escape. His programming goes back to you and remembers what he was taught before you were cut loose from the program, or so he was told. Jun looking back seeing the guards, he shut the door to give the others time to escape, fighting for their freedom. He had hoped for his friends and their partners, if allied to them safety as his own capture that was imminent, wouldn't be in vain.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Things have since been hectic with a majority of the group freed or gone. He did wonder how they all were, but being busy with other tasks led to uneasy decisions. He would make sure not to be seen so he could found out what happened to the researcher that helped him, opening up before you disappeared.  His hardest balance of passion to find you, but hatred of what happened as well even with his busy schedule.
A knock was heard on the door, quickly putting what he needed away. Jun stood up going to the door, opening it, only to be met with two people.
"Ready to head to the next room?" One person questioned politely. Jun nodded closing the door behind him heading with the duo staying composed. One of the duo opened the door to the new room having Jun step inside. What awaited him wasn't what should of happened. His eyes widened as two new people came out, one being his new researched that he hated with a passion. He turned and ran, fumbling with the door opening it and taking it off the hinges giving a bit of a delay to the new people. He moved quickly to hide in the darkness staying quiet as possible not liking the circumstances.
Jun moved deeper into the darkness to lay his head back, balling his raising hand, his mind processing other ways to escape the nightmare he just faced, not wanting to process what could of been if he stayed in that room, instead of running away. For a second his vision went fuzzy then hearing static in his head. A voice came through after it cleared.
"Jun, is it you?"
Jun, stopped completely looking down at the part that was attached to use for communication. Whispering loud enough of your name, the passion shining through. "I'm here. What happ…"
"I'm sorry Jun. We will talk about it when you are safer. I saw the chase through the cameras. I'm going to help you get away and you'll be meeting some friends on the way to Salax"
"Are they safe to go with? I don't want anything happening to stall our meeting"
"Yes. I'll tell you along with getting you out. It will help in understanding"
Jun nodded following your direction while pieces were revealed of why you were dismissed from the research side helping him process what he could find making more sense of what the company hid.
Carefully making it to an exit that no one was near from the calculations of your friends and your direction. Giving the names of the people he'd meet.
"Tear it off and I'll meet you when you come home Jun. I love you"
"I love you too" He finally admitted. It felt strange dor an AI to feel this, but he did know it felt right. He gripped and tore the machine out, taking off out the door. Stopping quickly, he threw the part hard hitting a camera and letting it destroy each other as they collided. Jun took off as quick as he could getting lost into the crowd of people in the direction he was instructed to follow using any transportation available.
A figure reached out when he was walking near an alley yanking him into said place. A young woman with mid brown length hair and a cyber arm put a finger to her lips, signing to listen.
"I'm a ally who's going to help you to reunite with your love. We are taking you to Salax"
Jun nodded being observant, taking the hood that the woman handed him putting it on. They both lead deeper into the alleyway to an escape in the back way to a ship was in wait. Two males, one with short mid silver purple hair, the other with longer black hair were near the door signaling keeping a close lookout for people giving any kind of chase. Closing all door once the duo was inside, they take off to their freedom.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Making it to Salax in landing with the spaceship that he was instructed to meet at when you hacked into the system with three of your friends, Dami. Donghun, and Yeosang.
"Finally arrived. Well secure the ship then we  meet the others at a tavern" Dami announced while Yeosang wasted no time to secure the inside that was needed while Dami pushed buttons for the outside in the captain's quarters. Jun soon followed them out after everything was done for the ship's security.
Heading into the city towards a tavern, Jun stayed between the two wandering inside going to the back seeing a group in a corner. Jun stopped looking ahead, seeing you, in person after all this time. You looked up with a smile seeing Jun, getting up and both embracing.
"I'm finally home" Jun whispers, petting your hair, letting his passion ignite higher overcoming the hate of anything. Leaning down to kiss you, missing you completely. Breaking after a moment you smile, looking at him with adoration.
"Yes, now we have time together to spend now" You made that promise looking at Jun then both of you back at their newfound allies and friends, who were willing to take another member under their wing.

You'll be the death of me

Synopsis: Junhui didn't expect his curiosity to earn him a lover.
Pairing: Moon Junhui x fem!reader Word Count: 2.3k words Warnings: there is one sentence about suggestive stuff (not including the reader)
Tumblr media
The waves were crashing loudly against the shore and to his feet, a cold wind blew past Junhui and made the hairs on his arms stand up. It didn't bother him much, he knew he wouldn't have to wait for much longer for Seungkwan to return. The boy was just out to look for some more shells to decorate his house, but Seungkwan tended to be a bit too picky with his search for decorations. He believed that they had to be the perfect color and size, having to fit in with his already massive collection. He had shells of all sizes and colors, a whole room of his house was dedicated to shells and pearls that he picked up. Junhui was always kind enough to join him, but today he didn't feel like going in the water. Something felt wrong today, like he'd get hurt and he'd learn to trust his gut on such things. It had saved his life a couple of times at this point. Nonetheless, he couldn't help but be worried for Seungkwan and thus he kept his eyes strictly on the spot where the siren had dove into the waters.
35 minutes of waiting was enough, Seungkwan rising from the water with a bright and happy smile. In his hand was a bag that he lifted with glee. Junhui smiled before stepping into the water, glad that he had rolled up his trousers beforehand, and he took ahold of Seungkwan's arms. Pulling him up to the shore sounded easier than it was, the weight of Seungkwan's tail exceeded that of a full grown wolf. Once Seungkwan was out of the water fully, he turned on his back and let his tail turn to legs before grabbing his pants.
"Couldn't have waited until I turned around?" Junhui asked with a bit of annoyance as he removed his gaze from the younger, who only scoffed in response. Junhui didn't care that much, but he still didn't have to see his best friend naked.
"Your an elf, what shame do could you possibly have? You guys live by the motto 'Enjoy life to the fullest' and you certainly do that." Seungkwan teased and Junhui knew well enough that Seungkwan was talking about the nightly feasts that the adult elves had during festival weeks, not that Junhui was ever interested in such things. He believed that you could only love one, so he remained on his own. Even when it gained him looks of ridicule during festivals, he didn't care much for it anyway. He'd rather wait for the right person than gain experience with thousands of he- and she-elves.
"Here." Seungkwan spoke again, holding out a murex shell with a silver color with black and white spots. Taking it from Seungkwan, Junhui inspected the shell carefully before smiling. He liked to collect things as well, having something from every friend that represented them in a way.
Seungcheol had given him a sword, a wooden one that he had used when he was a bit younger. Jeonghan and Joshua both gifted him some magical crystals, one for protection and one for healing small wounds, although Junhui had a feeling that they didn't really worked anymore. Soonyoung and Chan collected various little trinkets from their respective home forests, everything from little acorns to even dried flowers or trees. Wonwoo gave him a book with all kinds of recipes for delicious foods and Mingyu had added his own family recipe in the front as his own gift, which was something very important to him and thus meant a great deal. Jihoon created some incenses that relaxed the mind and strengthened the health while Seokmin gave a horse shoe that he made since it often meant good luck. Vernon gave him a piece of armor, one he had worn when protecting the elvish town that Junhui came from. Now all Junhui needed to do was add Seungkwan's gift and his collection from his friends was complete.
Thanking Seungkwan quickly, Junhui put the shell in his bag carefully before throwing his arm around his friend's shoulders with a big smile on his face.
"(Y/n) gave it too me and it seemed nice enough to give to you." Seungkwan said and Junhui paused, looking at Seungkwan with slight concern. He assumed that you were a siren or mermaid like Seungkwan was and they often liked to gift shells or pearls to the people they loved. Seungkwan seemed to guess what Junhui was thinking and quickly shook his head, scoffing at the idea itself.
"She's not in love with me, no worries. She knew I was searching for a gift and told me to take this." Seungkwan explained and Junhui nodded, smiling to himself before dragging Seungkwan along again.
Tumblr media
"Come on!" Seungkwan screamed loudly at the group that remained by the edge of the water. Only Vernon had joined him in the water, floating beside Seungkwan like he had no care of the world around him. Ziva had gotten ready to jump in from the rocks, holding both Flora and Aria in a tight headlock. Then she jumped, dragging the two other girls and crashing in the water. Their respective boyfriends only laughing loudly before gently getting in the water as well, swimming to their girlfriends. Seokmin and Soonyoung were off in the distance, Chan floating above them, and all of them were staring at an animal that they hadn't seen before. Junhui could tell that it was just a crab that carried a wrong shell on his back. Nothing unusual about it, but the three were fascinated nonetheless. Mingyu and Wonwoo were sitting on the side, Wonwoo reading a book and Mingyu was looking through the basket of food that he brought. Last but not least were Jihoon and Minghao, immersed in a conversation that Junhui didn't even want to know the topic. Junhui was the last one to join them in the water, swimming near Seungkwan before diving down. His eyes stung a bit from the water, but he could see everything clearly.
Including you laying in the sand.
You between the rocks, seemingly sleeping and Junhui was fascinated to say the least. Dark blue scales covered your body, blending in with your skin and you wore a flowy dress that covered from your torso to underneath your hips. Your hair floated around you like a halo. Junhui could spot small fangs and he could see your eyes when they opened, a deep red color that made shivers run down his spine. Your eyes were now on him as well, inspecting him before pushing yourself from the ground. Your tail, unlike what Junhui thought, wasn't like a mermaid tail. Rather it looked like a snake, only the fins indicating that you were indeed a water creature. So focused on your appearance, Junhui barely noticed that you were swimming towards him at quite a fast speed and only stopping when you were in arms reach. You hovered near him, looking at Junhui with genuine curiosity and he did the same.
Only difference, he couldn't breath underwater.
Swimming back up to the surface, Junhui took a deep breath before shrieking when you appeared right in front of him again. Eyes turned to you and Seungkwan was the first to break the silence, bright smile as he swam your way.
"(Y/n)!" Seungkwan threw his arms around your neck, a hug that you quickly returned as your gaze moved to the siren in your arms. Junhui's eyes widened slightly as he recognized your name, remembering that you were the one who helped Seungkwan with his gift. Seungkwan was quick to drag you to shore, waiting for Mingyu to come drag him out of the water completely while Jihoon threw a blanket over Seungkwan for modesty. He changed and in turn dragged you from the water as well. Like Seungkwan, your body changed to a human form. Only difference was that you were already covered with a dress that you wore beforehand, which now looked longer than it had before. Probably because you had normal sized legs now instead of the long tail you had before.
Most boys exited the water as well, all focused on the new person that had joined them. Junhui took the chance to stare at you a bit longer as Flora approached you first, asking you a few questions. The scales from earlier where still visible over your whole body, although they seemed to lay beneath your skin this time and your eyes had turned a lighter red color instead of the bright color before.
"Totally not obvious, dude." Joshua spoke up and Junhui turned around to glare the man. Aria shoved her boyfriend softly, rolling her eyes at his antics.
"You stared at me for awhile too when we first met." She teased and Junhui chuckled as he watched the elder's cheeks turn a light pink. Then his eyes turned back to you, flinching when your eyes connected with his. You gave another smile, slowly making his way before leaning a bit forward.
"You're an elf, right?" The question seemed obvious, but Junhui could only stutter a yes as his heart started to beat a million times per minute. It was clear that you were hiding your laughter at his obvious shyness, hand covering your mouth as you straightened your form again. You stepped slightly forward again and Junhui could feel your gaze on his ears. They twitched slightly as a pink color rose up to the tips of his ears, turning fully red when your hand suddenly touched his ear. Flinching away, he stared at you in shock while you just looked confused. Aria's laughter rang out loudly from behind the two of you and the smiles on Joshua and Seungcheol's faces said enough, they knew clearly what you had just done. Seungkwan was the first to explain it to you, saying that it was the same as touching his tail. This in turn made your face heat up with embarrassment, quickly apologizing to him while also trying to hide your face.
You were certainly an interesting character and Junhui couldn't wait to learn more about you.
Tumblr media
"So, do you really hear and see better than others?" You asked, leaning on the rock beneath you as your tail swished behind you in the water. Junhui nodded, leaning a bit forward before pointing at your eyes.
"What about you?" He asked and you nodded as well, quickly explaining that you saw clearly underneath the water, often better than above water. Junhui nodded in fascination before noticing your gills.
"Shouldn't you go back to the water? Your gills look dried out." He said and you let your hands wander to your neck before awkwardly chuckling, ducking under the water and disappearing from Junhui's view. Minutes later you came back up, your gills covered in wet seaweed that only made Junhui frown softly.
"It helps, although it looks a bit weird..." You smiled at him before leaning back on the rock with a soft sigh. "It's not weird." Junhui quickly answered and you chuckled at his eagerness to make you feel better, even when it wasn't really necessary. You mumbled a soft 'cute' at him before pushing yourself up as you noticed something behind Junhui.
"She's here again." You pointed at the elf that stood in the woods, her eyes on the two of you and it was clear that she was not amused. By now you knew well enough who she was. A she-elf that had taken an interest in Junhui and had tried convince Junhui that he should stay with his own kind. You didn't know if she meant romantically or not, but you found it ridiculous nonetheless. Junhui groaned as he turned his head, making eye contact with her and causing her to smile brightly. She waved him over, but Junhui didn't move.
"Come one!" You grabbed the back of his collar, dragging underwater with you without waiting for any answer. Swimming down to the ground, you turned around to look back at Junhui. He held his breath, but you could see that he was having trouble with the depth. Letting go of him, staring at him for a few seconds before cupping his face softly. You waited for a few seconds again, looking at his lips clearly. When he didn't seem to protest your intentions, you quickly pressed your lips against his for not even a second. He stared at you in shock, mouth open before he realized that he could breath underwater now.
"You can talk." You said, but your voice sounded muffled. Probably because you were underwater, he realized. Nonetheless, he didn't get to talk when he heard another loud splash behind him. The girl had followed, looking around in the water for the two of you. You smirked before wrapping yourself around Junhui and laying your head next to his.
"Want to scare her off?" You asked and Junhui shook his head, turning his head back to the she-elf. The two of them made eye contact and the girl glared at you when she noticed how your tail was wrapped around Junhui. Then he turned his head back to you and laid his lips on yours once more. You were a bit shocked at first before wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him back. He was the first to pull back. Even when he could now breath underwater, he still could only breath through his nose or mouth. You couldn't help but look at the she-elf again, but she was long gone and you only laughed softly. Junhui watched you before looking up, breaking from your hold and swimming up. You followed quickly and gasped as you reached the top.
"A warning would've been nice, my heart almost exploded when you kissed me." Junhui said and you giggled, dragging him to shore with a bright smile.
"It was just so you could breath. Besides, you kissed me again." You gave him another teasing smile, sinking back into the water after a short wink. Junhui just watched the spot where you dove under, scoffing before laying down in the sun.
"You'll be the death of me."

LIMBO | JUN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: bf!jun x gn!reader
genre: fluff // warnings: swear words & not edited
summary: how you celebrate the release of your boyfriend’s new single ‘Limbo’ // word count: 700
note: I know it’s no longer release day for Limbo but I can’t not write a fic for him celebrating Limbo being out :)) enjoy
Tumblr media
When you first got the news that your boyfriend was releasing a new single, you were super excited. Plus it seemed like this single was very different from his other ones.
Honestly you were losing it along with the other carats. It was super fun and hilarious to see what the carats were saying on Twitter. All of the theories and fangirling.
Unfortunately Jun would be out of the country when it dropped but that didn’t mean you didn’t celebrate the release with him. On the night it was released, you had decided to FaceTime him.
Setting your phone on the stand and pulling up the music video. Jun was starting to get giddy but also shy. He virtually tried to stop you from watching it in front of him.
“Babe, please! I’ll do anything for you when we get back.” All of the while, he was starting to pull the covers over his eyes that way he didn’t have to see it. Noticing what he was he doing, you immediately tried to stop it.
“Junnie, pleaseeeeee!! How are you going to act shy when you’re literally a part of one of the hottest k-pop groups to exist?“
Man, nothing makes Jun more flustered when he hears praise from you. “Babe, if you keep on talking. You’re going to have a tomato instead of a boyfriend.”
Life is fun when you have Jun as your boyfriend. One thing about Jun is that he is never ever lacking in the comedic department. Every day, he finds something to make you laugh about.
“Come onnn! I have it pulled up.” He eventually pulls the covers down to watch your reaction. You push play and watch with love (and maybe even a bit of lust) in your eyes. Jun watching you watching him. Laughing about that thought, he returns to your reaction.
Given that it’s late in the night, you have to not let out a scream. It was really hard and Jun knew you wanted to let it out. It was making him laugh again. He thought you were really cute.
“Jun. What. The. Heck??” Taking in one deep breath before exhaling. “YOU LOOKED SO COOL AND THE LYRICS AND THE SET AND THE CLOTHES AND THE LYRICS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU!!!!!” You can’t help but take another breather. He was hot.
That’s nothing new but my god. Even though, you have the real deal. The fangirling tendencies will never go away. “Wen Junhui. You are one hot ass motherfucker. Cannot believe you’re mine.”
He smirks and so do you. At the same time, you both say “Damn right, I’m yours”.
“Thank you, my love. As always, your support is appreciated. I’m glad you loved it. I hope the carats like it too.” If only you could be with him right now, you’d kiss him to shut up. “Of course, they’ll love it. Carats kind of go crazy for this stuff. Not to mention how confident you look. You were practically dripping in confidence and guess what? We ,including me, find that fucking attractive. I could go on and on about this, but it’s late.”
“I know you’re tired and your flight is a few hours. I’ll set you free for tonight.” Shooting a glance at him. Hoping he gets the little joke there. “I love you and just so you know. I’m going to scream about how good Limbo is when you get back. Night junnie!”
“I love you too y/n! I’ll text you when I land and thank you again for showing so much love to Limbo!” Waving goodbye and send a flying kiss each to other, the FaceTime ends.
Laying in bed, you let out a sigh. Not a sigh out of tiredness though. One of out of love and admiration. Jun is truly one of the best performers, singers, and more that you know.
When he’s back, you’re going to have to shower him more in compliments. Especially about how proud you are of him. Welcoming him to a banner with the words: “welcome to my limbo”. Even if it’s months later of the release of his single, you’ll still celebrate it as if it just got released.
Tumblr media
okay but I’m kind of in love with this banner 💀 anyways STREAM LIMBO YALL AND VOTE FOR HIM !!
I hope Jun knows how much chaos he’s caused in caratland since the release of Limbo. Literally on repeat and god the falsettos from him. THEY NEVER DISAPPOINT
If you liked this, please send me an ask or reblog with tags about what you liked!! Reblogs are super helpful.
signing off with love,
- ash

seventeen when you call them by their name
instead of a pet name
a/n: i forgot how long writing 13 different scenarios takes T-T
Tumblr media
seungcheol
after a long day of practice cheol entered your shared apartment late at night.
even though he was trying to be quiet you still heard the click of the front door and his fumbling around in the entryway. so you decided to get up and greet him.
“seungcheol?” you asked sleepily, rubbing your eyes as you walked out of your bedroom.
he was so taken aback by his name that he didn't even reply for a good 30 seconds.
“i'm sorry for being home late,” he frowned, “don't be mad.” he whined softly, thinking you were upset with him. why else would you use his full name?
you looked at him quizzically and slotted yourself in his arms, he seemed to relax significantly at your touch.
“i'm not mad, what makes you think that?” you questioned, looking at him with raised eyebrows.
“you called me seungcheol,” he pouted, “what happened to baby?” his pout intensified, his lip jutting out further.
you couldn’t help but chuckle at his antics, “i’m sorry, baby,” you teased, emphasizing the pet name, “i didn't know you liked it that much,” you cooed, putting your hands on his cheeks and smushing his face.
“don't tease me,” he grumbled, pretending to be upset, which just elicited another laugh from your end.
“fine, fine,” you said with your hands raised, mocking a surrender, “let's go to bed, baby, you've had a long day,” you suggested, pecking his lips and taking his hand to lead him to the bedroom.
jeonghan
you had been basking in jeonghan's company all day. it was a rare off-day for the idol and you spent every second possible with your boyfriend.
you were currently in one of your lulls of conversation, just sitting in comfortable silence on two different ends the couch while you both scrolled on your phones.
you saw a funny video while scrolling and knew your boyfriend would love it so you looked over at him and called his name.
“hey, jeonghan? look at this video,” you giggled, holding your phone screen in his direction.
but your boyfriend didn't pay you any mind. thinking he didn't hear you, you called for him a little louder.
“jeonghan? hello?” you scooted closer to him on the couch when you went unanswered again.
you poked his cheek and turned his head to make him look at you when he still didn’t answer.
“hello?” you questioned, noticing his nonchalant expression.
“oh? were you talking to me?”he asked with a raised eyebrow.
“yes? i said your name twice!” you whined, knowing he heard you but he was clearly ignoring you.
“no, you said ‘jeonghan,’” he said, making air quotes with his fingers, "and that's not my name," he pouted finally, showing a side of him that you didn't often see.
you realized what he was talking about and tried to hide a grin at his demeanor, “aww, i'm sorry, let me try again,” you cooed, going back to your previous side of the couch to reset.
“hannie... my angel, my sweetheart, my precious?” you tried, “come look at this video,” you laughed, his attention already on you as you listed your names for him.
“of course, my love,” he smiled, getting up from his spot and cuddling up to your side, “look at how easy that was,” he whispered, plucking your phone from your hands and watching the video that you had pulled up.
he pulled you into his arms and nuzzled his cheek against your head, scrolling and looking at more videos with you. “you're crazy,” you said with a laugh, pressing a kiss against his cheek, but you wouldn't want it any other way.
joshua
“joshua?” you called out from the kitchen while you were making dinner. he had been playing video games in the living room ever since his practice was over.
hearing his full name from you made his ears perk up and he quickly shut off his game, rushing to the kitchen.
“love?” he asked softly, putting his hand on your shoulder, already thinking he had upset you he didn't want to anger you further. “is everything okay?” he asked tentatively, testing the waters.
“huh? yeah, joshua, everything's fine can you just-”you said as you stirred the pot on the stove, not looking up at him while you were focused on perfecting the food.
but, when he heard his full name again and the classic 'everything's fine' line he quickly jumped to conclusions and deduced that everything was not fine.
he cut you off before you could finish talking and immediately went into apologizing.
“i’m sorry, love, i don't know what i did to make you upset but i'll fix it, okay?” he said with a weary smile, still with his hand on your shoulder, “was i on the game for too long? did you want me to help you cook? was i too loud?” he rambled, facepalming as he thought he had messed something up and made you mad.
as he rambled you slowly started to look over at him, his words confusing you to no end.
“why would i be upset?” you asked, looking at him as if he was crazy, which he was.
“what?” he questioned back, “you called me joshua and you haven't looked at me and you said everything was ‘fine’, that's like textbook upset partner.” he said, as if it was totally obvious.
you blinked at him a few times before you burst out laughing, “god, babe, you're hilarious!” you exclaimed, slapping his shoulder as you laughed. now it was joshua's turn to be confused since he was positive that you were upset.
“you’re not upset?” he questioned, you shook your head as your answer while you were still doubled over laughing, “why did you call me over then?” he asked.
you pointed to the glass jar on the counter next to you after you had composed yourself, “i was going to ask you to open that jar, dummy,” you teased.
joshua blew out a breath and quickly opened the jar with ease, “that's... it?” he questioned.
“yeah, that's it, you can go play your game some more,” you smiled, pressing a kiss against his cheek.
“but you called me joshua...” he grumbled, you never called him joshua!
“which is your name, if i’m not mistaken,” you pointed out, pinching his cheek. he swatted at your hand and groaned.
he opened his mouth to start complaining more before you quickly stopped him. “okay, okay, i’m sorry babe, you can go play your game again.”
joshua gave you a firm nod, as if he was finally satisfied with your name for him. “okay. let me know if you need anything.” he grinned, kissing your head and then strolling back to the living room.
“you’re a child,” you whispered to yourself, continuing dinner with a smile on your face.
“but you love me!” he called back, somehow hearing you. well, he’s not wrong.
jun
‘thanks, junhui!’
that was the text that you had sent your boyfriend after he told you he bought you a book from the town he was currently in on tour.
he loved gift giving and he knew you loved books so he scoured every bookshop in the town to find the perfect book for you. he excitedly sent you a picture of the book he bought and that was your reply to it.
it made his head spin with reasons of why you could be mad at him.
calling him ‘jun’ was already a rarity in your relationship, but ‘junhui’? he wasn’t sure you’d ever called him that.
‘are you mad at me?’ he texted back, getting straight to the point.
you took nearly 10 minutes to reply, 10 agonizing minutes for jun.
‘not at all, i’ll see you when you get home’ was your response.
now this reply made him absolutely spiral, good thing he was returning home today. but because of your replies to him he made a few extra stops before hopping on the plane.
when you finally arrived back home from work you opened the door and was met with your sheepish looking boyfriend and what looked like a mountain of books behind him.
“babe! what are you doing here? and what is with all the books?” you exclaimed, jumping into his arms and hugging him tight.
jun was taken aback by your reaction, his mind stuck on the thought that you were mad at him. “i thought you were upset with the book i got you… so i kind of bought as many as i could fit in my luggage to make up for it,” he said, his cheeks slowly turning red when he realized you really weren’t mad at him.
you pulled your head back and gave him a look, “what made you think i was mad?” you asked, pulling away and starting to pick up the different books that were piling up on your coffee table.
“you called me junhui…” he whispered, saying it out loud made him feel stupid, it was just a name, his name in fact.
“are you saying that you bought me a hundred books because i called you by your first name?” you questioned, raising an eyebrow at him.
he nodded his head sheepishly.
“you are too cute!” you exclaimed, giving him another tight hug, “for the record, i’d tell you if i was mad at you,” you made sure to clarify.
“okay…” he said softly, looking at the absurd amount of books, “should i return all of these now, or-” he began to speak before you cut him off.
“absolutely not,” you said quickly, snatching a book and sitting on the couch beginning to read.
jun slowly made his way next to you and laid his head in your lap, getting comfy while you read aloud to him.
hoshi
“honey?” you called out in your apartment, waiting for hoshi to reply to you. you needed help folding the laundry and hoshi was always eager to help you do whatever you needed.
you heard a distant, “give me a minute!” come from your shared bedroom where your boyfriend was no doubt playing video games again.
you rolled your eyes at his response and started folding the laundry on your own, giving him a few minutes before calling for him again. “honey? i need your help out here,” you called again, waiting to hear his footsteps.
but instead you got another, “just a sec!” which made you pull out the big guns. hoshi hated you calling him by his name, he said he sounded like you were scolding him. but desperate times call for desperate measures.
“kwon soonyoung! i said i need your help!” you called out even louder than before, knowing that would get him.
once his name left your mouth you heard fumbling coming from the room and the door opening quickly, his feet slapped against the floor as he ran over to you.
he already had the expression of a kicked puppy, “i told you not to call me that!” he pouted, standing in front of you.
you gave him a look and pointed at the spot on the couch next to you, “sit,” you said simply. of course, he followed with no question.
“‘m sorry!” he whined when you wouldn’t talk to him, “i was doing really well! you know how hard that game is, and we were winning!” he tried to explain, sloppily folding clothes next to you as he rambled.
“soonyoung?” you said, cutting him off with his name again.
“what,” he said with a frown.
“just fold the damn laundry,” you said with a sigh, grabbing the clothes that he had folded and redoing it properly.
“you’re scary when you’re mad…” he whispered, starting to fold every item of clothing meticulously so you didn’t have anything to be upset with.
he spent the rest of the day giving you his undivided attention and trying to make up for making you upset.
when you finally called him ‘honey’ at the end of the night his face lit up and you forgot why you were even mad with him in the first place.
wonwoo
you were out shopping with wonwoo when something caught your eye from the window of a store. you tugged on your boyfriends coat sleeve.
“wonwoo-” you started, but you were quickly cut off.
“try again.” he said simply, making you furrow your eyebrows.
“wonwoo?” you questioned, tugging his arm again and making him stop walking.
“try again.” he repeated, pulling his phone out of his pocket and pretending to scroll on it.
“wonwoo, what are you-” he cut you off once again with a look.
“one more time, sweetheart,” he said, pointing you in the right direction. this made it click in your head and you just scoffed.
“babe?” you tried, finally his attention turned towards you and he showed off his award winning smile.
“yes, sweetheart? what do you need?” he asked, his voice sweet as honey.
“you're impossible,” you laughed, “i want to go into that store,” you pointed at the clothing store next to where you were stopped.
“then let's go,” he grinned, pulling your hand and leading you into the store, “you know if you call me by my name people might not think we're together,” he said as if it was an obvious fact.
“we're literally holding hands and wearing matching outfits,” you pointed out, which just earned a shrug from your boyfriend as he started grabbing different pieces of clothing that he thought would look good on you.
sure, he was a subtle guy, but he wanted everyone to know that you were his.
woozi
“jihoon, i'm home,” you called out into the apartment. you had a meeting that lasted much longer than usual and it was already dark out when you returned.
your boyfriend had been home all day and by the smell of fresh food you could tell that he had been cooking.
you slipped off your shoes in the entry way and tossed your bag on the couch before slipping into the kitchen and coming up behind your boyfriend. you wrapped your arms around his waist and rested your chin on his shoulder while he stirred the pot in front of him.
“jihoon?” he questioned, scrunching up his face at the mention of his full name. he didn't hate when you said his name, you just never did. “what're you calling me that for?” he asked directly, not assuming anything.
“i realized i don't call you by name, do you not like it?”you asked, lifting your head up and looking over at him, your arms still around him.
“i don't mind, i'm just used to baby,” he said, pressing a kiss to your cheek, “or babe,” another kiss, “love, sweetheart, honey, my one and only,” he listed, pressing a kiss to your face in between each pet name.
you couldn't help but smile at the affection you were receiving from your boyfriend, you pressed a few kisses to his cheek in return and let him resume his cooking while you watched from a seat at the island.
“but you're okay with jihoon?” you asked, wanting to make sure.
“i’m okay with you calling me jihoon,” he said, turning over his shoulder to look at you, “but don't use it too much.” he said, giving you a pointed look.
he wouldn't say it out loud but he loved the sweet pet names you gave him, even the ridiculous ones.
minghao
“what did i do?” was the first words your boyfriend uttered when he walked into your shared home.
you looked up from your spot on the couch and tilted your head at him. “what do you mean?” you questioned, not understanding him.
“i mean, i can tell you're mad so i give you permission to yell at me, just tell me what i did first.” minghao said, bracing himself for whatever you would say to him. by no means did you fight often but whenever you got angry at him he would take it.
“i’m not mad at you,” you said, opening your arms, waiting for your boyfriend to join you on the couch. when he didn't come over you deadpanned, “well now i'm mad that you're not cuddling me.” you joked, waiting for him to come over.
he slowly walked over to you and pulled you against his chest, giving you a cautious look.
“then what was up with that text?” he questioned, pulling out his phone, “you said, and i quote, just wait until you get home, minghao,” he recited, “when have you ever called me by my first name?” he said like it was obvious.
“oh! i made your favorite dessert!” you said with a happy smile, pointing to the kitchen where his treat was freshly made and waiting on the counter.
his face went soft at your happy mood and he gave you a short kiss, “thanks, love,“ he said softly, “but your text did not make it sound like that.” he chuckled.
“oh right, i didn't want to give anything away so i called you minghao, was that too mean?” you asked, hoping you didn't make him worry.
he sighed with a smile and shook his head, “just a bit,” he said honestly, “you never call me minghao,” he pouted, half jokingly but also half seriously.
“i’m sorry, love,” you said, kissing his cheek, “i won't scare you like that again,” you teased, jumping up from the couch and pulling him up with you.
“come eat! i made it all for you,” you said with a smile, leading him to the kitchen and plating his dessert with a smile.
mingyu
mingyu had a cold. and when mingyu got sick he got dramatic. he was currently cuddled up in bed while you took care of him.
you would take his temperature, give him medicine, cook him some soup, and keep him as comfortable as possible while you worked from home.
“mingyu, do you want some soup?” you asked softly, pushing his hair off of his forehead and feeling for a temperature.
his eyes shot open and his lip jutted out. “mingyu?” he questioned softly, “why are you calling me mingyu?” his voice wobbled a bit. but can you blame him? he’s a sensitive man.
“because that’s your name, baby, you don’t like it?” you asked, holding his hand, your voice softened at your boyfriend.
he shook his head at your question, he was always ‘baby’ or ‘sweetheart’ or ‘gyu’.
“sorry, baby,” you cooed, “but do you want any soup?” you asked again, hoping it would fix his mood.
“don’t want soup, i want a kiss,” he said with a little mischievous smile, then puckering his lips.
you rolled your eyes, he knew you couldn’t say no to him, especially since he was sick and was on the verge of tears after you called him his first name. “you’re such a baby,” you groaned, “if i get sick it’s your fault,” you reminded him.
“then it’ll be my turn to take care of you,” he said as if it was obvious, leaning up a bit and catching your lips with his.
sure, mingyu was a big baby. but he was your big baby.
dk
dk had been stuck in practice all day while you had a free day. so, being the loving and doting partner that you were you decided to make your boyfriend some dinner. which also included making dinner for his 12 bandmates, but you didn’t mind. you were like a big family.
you were let into the building and made your way to their practice room, hands full of bags carrying multiple different containers full of food.
the boys were all sitting around the room during a break and you popped your head inside, leaving the bags in the hallway.
a few people looked over at you when you opened the door, but every head snapped your way when you opened your mouth.
“seokmin?” you asked, which caused some murmurs among the group.
dk couldn’t remember the last time he was called that name.
‘you better fix whatever you did wrong’ ‘why is she mad at you?’ ‘what did you do?’ different members began to ask all at once to your boyfriend, sending him into even deeper of a panic.
he jumped to his feet and made his way over to you. you didn’t look mad at him, but now he was worried. he grabbed your hand and gently pulled you into the hallway and closed the door to the practice room behind you.
“is everything okay? did i leave something on at home? did i forget to take out the trash?” he asked seriously, thinking of what he could’ve possibly done to elicit you calling him his first name.
you gave him a look in response, furrowing your eyebrows at his rambling. “no… i made you guys food,” you explained, pointing to all the bags on the floor by the two of you, “was just asking you to help me bring it in.”
“huh?” your boyfriend questioned, looking at the bags and then back up to you. “why’d you call me seokmin, then? i haven’t heard that name in ages!” he whined, tugging at your hand.
“oh? i texted jeonghan and told him i was coming over, he told me to call you seokmin,” you laughed, not thinking that he was going to take it that much to heart.
dk sighed and grabbed the bags, pecking your cheek, “thank you for dinner,” he said softly, opening the door to go back into the practice room with you trailing behind him.
his members all looked over and started laughing, apparently they were in on it too.
“you guys suck!” he groaned, “i’m keeping all this food to myself now,” he said childishly, hoarding all the bags by the two of you and trying to keep everyone else away.
eventually he caved and you all ate together, everyone thanking you and still poking fun at your boyfriend.
seungkwan
“seungkwan,” you tried to get your boyfriends attention, standing across the kitchen island from him.
his eyes left his phone and found yours, narrowing in the process. he didn’t say anything so you frowned.
“seungkwan?” he continued to stare at you and you grew slightly agitated since he was seemingly ignoring you.
“can you reply?” you asked with an attitude, crossing your arms.
“i’m just waiting for you to get it right,” he said, mirroring your body language and the amount of sass.
his words only confused you more. “get what right? you’re crazy,” you mumbled, basically having a staring contest with him.
seungkwan just scoffed and rolled his eyes, “my name! i’m waiting for you to get my name right,” he said as if it was obvious. “i am not ‘seungkwan’ to you.” he explained, putting his name in quotations with his fingers.
“are you waiting for me to call you sweetie?” you asked finally, a smile slowly starting to spread on your face. your boyfriend may be a little sassy but he was truly a sweetheart.
“maybe,” he replied simply, his arms still crossed as he waited.
you hummed at his response and then made your way around the island to hug him. “alright, sweetie, i was just going to ask where you wanted to eat tonight,” you grinned, pressing a few sweet kisses on his cheek.
his attitude instantly melted away at the pet name and he pulled you closer to him, “wherever you want, angel,” he replied simply.
it was that easy.
vernon
vernon isn't phased by much. but he does get a little salty when you use his first name on him. he says it sounds too much like a mother scolding him. so, of course, you tease him with it sometimes.
“hansol! can you come to the living room?” you called out in your home, not sure which room he was in.
soon you heard his footsteps and he walked into the room with a scrunched up face.
“yes, darling?” he exaggerated his pet name for you, hoping you'd get the hint.
you spun around in a circle and posed, showing off your new outfit to your boyfriend.
“what do you think? you like my new outfit?” you asked with a blinding smile, posing in a few different ways as your boyfriend watched.
“i think it looks lovely, babe,” he exaggerated again.
“thank you, hansol,” you replied with a sweet smile.
“you look gorgeous, sweetheart,” he tried again.
“thank you, hansol,” you repeated, trying to keep your laugh at bay.
“positively perfect, my love.”
“i appreciate it, hansol.”
“absolutely stunning, angel.”
“you’re too kind, hansol.”
“that’s it, i’m ignoring you for the rest of the day.” he finally said after surveying you for a few minutes. he turned on his heel and walked back to your shared bedroom.
“no!” you called after him, “i’m just joking,” you said in between laughs as you walked fast behind him to catch up.
he shrugged his shoulders and sat back down at his desk, continuing his previous task before you had called him to the living room.
“don’t be sulky now, i was teasing,” you pouted, putting your hands on his shoulders and turning his chair to face you.
“it’s fine, y/n,” he said with a grin, now using your own name back as revenge.
“hey! you can’t call me that!” you whined in response.
“watch me.” he smirked, flicking your forehead gently.
oh how the tables have turned.
dino
this man rarely hears his name from anyone. it’s always ‘dino’ from his friends and ‘honey’ from you.
so when you started calling for ‘chan’ while you were asleep it made his heart break.
‘who is chan?’ he thought to himself, you couldn’t be cheating on him with another guy. right? you wouldn’t do that, he knows you.
but still, once the thought got placed into his head (by no one but himself) he couldn’t help but shake it.
the next morning he was nervous, he didn’t know how to confront you, or what he would do if his suspicions were correct. so while you were making breakfast for the two of you he mustered up the courage to go into the kitchen and talk to you.
“good morning, honey,” you said with a cheery smile, noticing him right away as he made his way next to you. you caught his lips with a quick peck but noticed that he seemed a little tense. “something wrong?” you asked, concern lacing your voice.
dino just wrung his hands together and frowned. “do you have something to tell me?” he asked softly, already feeling on the verge of tears as he looked down at his feet, not making eye contact with you.
“no? what’s this about?” you asked, turning the heat down on the stove so you could give him more of your attention.
“i just,” he started, “well um…” he tried again, “i heard you talking in your sleep and you were calling out for some guy named ‘chan’ and i know wouldn’t cheat on me or anything but who is chan?” his words spilled out of him and he was talking a mile a minute while you looked at him, your eyes widening.
he was bracing himself for the answer to his question, ready for the worst.
“honey…” you said gently, taking both of his hands in yours and making him look at you, “you are chan.” you explained, trying to hide your smile since he was clearly so distraught.
“huh?” he asked, not understanding what you were getting at.
“honey, your name is lee chan,” you reminded him.
you could see the gears shifting in his head before his cheeks immediately heated up. he snatched his hands from yours and slapped his face. he was chan. and he couldn’t feel any stupider.
he was so used to being honey that he forgot his literal name.
“forget this happened…” he mumbled, walking away as you stifled your laughs.

how is jun and his lovely roommate/love of his life doing 🥺🥺
Tumblr media
drabble sequel to good things from bad days
but can be read alone!!
1k words
genre: romance, fluff, adoration and love. marriage proposal gone wrong!!! sunshine! junnie x grumpy! reader
notes/warnings: marriage is insinuated. a cat is on the counter but jun is going to wipe it after, i promise. couple banter. you have two cats named after the roly poly by t-ara.
Tumblr media
Jun rushed about the kitchen, never staying in one place for more than a second. Time was his master, he the servant. He had tried to delay you by asking you to go to the little Chinese restaurant the two of you frequented, the one you've been going to for eight years, the one he stopped at on that fateful night where you drunkenly confessed your love.
You had sighed, but agreed. He knew you would. Jun knew that every sigh, eye roll and scoff was just a layer of you, and that beneath that layer was the person he loved with all his heart. Your grumpiness was just another part of you for him to love.
He spun around, aiming for the silverware cabinet. Roly, however, had tucked herself right behind his feet. Jun cursed loudly, pitching forward and bracing himself against the opposite counter in an attempt to catch himself without injuring the cat.
Roly just peered up at him, amber eyes watching him as if to say really?
Jun used his foot to slide Rollie down the wooden floor of the kitchen, ignoring how she promptly turned around to swat at his ankle. He went back to the silverware drawer, withdrawing two pairs of chopsticks.
Jun grabbed yours, wooden ones he had purchased at a farmer's market with little pink flowers carved into the thick handles. He then, slowly, carefully, as if he was handling his heart with his bare hands -- and he was -- reached into his pocket and withdrew the ring.
He took a moment to appreciate it. It was in a vintage style with a thin golden band and a jade jewel surrounded by a golden face. It was elegant and simple, and Jun wondered how such a tiny thing could hold so much gravity.
Jun then slipped the ring around the chopsticks. He wrapped them in a napkin before doing the same with his own so you wouldn't be too suspicious.
"Okay, girls," Jun murmured, trying to swallow his nerves. "Just act cool. There's nothing going on. Absolutely nothing."
Roly and Poly just blinked at him from where they sat on the floor.
Jun set the napkin-covered-chopsticks on the bar just in time for the front door to open. He turned his back to the bar, placing a wide smile on his face and hoping his past as a child-actor was coming in handy.
You were huffing as you carried in the food alongside your work bag. Jun hurried forward, taking the food from you and swooping down to press a kiss to your nose. "Hello, darling!"
"Junnie," you murmured back, angling your face towards him. Jun took your silent request and pressed a slow, gentle kiss to your lips. You hummed, nodding, as if he had gotten an answer right on a quiz he didn't know he was taking.
"How was the drive?"
You scoffed, setting your bag on the couch. As soon as she heard you, Poly came running from around the kitchen bar. She let out a high-pitched "mrrp" as she did so, intent on reaching you.
Jun felt his heart swell as you reached down and grabbed Poly, bringing the long-haired cat into your arms. Poly was remarkably shy, even for a cat. It had taken her two months to get used to the two of you, and even now she continued to be hesitant around Jun. But you? She adored you.
Just like Jun.
He crossed back to the kitchen, setting the food onto the bar. Jun listened to you chatter to Poly, adoration dripping from your every word. He ignored Roly as she jumped onto the bar, grabbing the wet wipes the two of you kept in the kitchen for this exact reason.
"Why don't you love me like you love Poly?" Jun dramatically sighed, taking out two glasses from your cupboards.
You walked towards the kitchen, pressing kisses to Poly's head. "It's because she's so cute! Yes! My Poly girl is so! Cute!"
"And your Junnie boy isn't?"
You pressed one last kiss to her forehead, pausing and looking up at him over the rim of your glasses. "I guess."
"You guess?"
Jun set both glasses onto the counter, letting his jaw drop in false shock. "I can't believe I signed the lease to this house with you! I make your meals! I make sure you're well-fed and showered! I take out the trash! And for what? A cat to replace me?"
You cooed at Poly one last time before setting her on the floor. Then you crossed into the kitchen, opening your arms and winding them around Jun's middle. You pressed yourself to him, burying your face into his chest and pressing a kiss over his heart.
"A cat can never replace you," you mumbled. "She can't brush my hair like you do."
Jun laughed, pushing you away. "You jerk!"
Your answering giggle was soft and quiet, as it always tended to be. Jun had a sixth sense for your laughter, however, and mentally recorded it and tucked it deep into his heart.
He can't wait to marry you.
Jun turned his back to the bar, picking up a glass. He went to the freezer, shoving it underneath the ice machine.
Then you gasped, loud and cutting through the serenity. "Roly!"
Jun spun around just in time to see Roly batting your chopsticks, still covered in the napkin, off of the counter. She watched, content with her chaos, as Jun sprinted around the bar, panic so thick that he was drowning in it.
You were already bending over, bypassing the chopsticks and napkin. He watched as your fingers found the ring on the ground, enclosing around it. You straightened, quiet, opening your palm and staring down.
You were always so good at hiding your expressions. You weren't like Hansol, who wore his heart on his sleeve. Your face was stern, almost, considering, as you held the ring up to the light.
But then you turned your face towards Jun, and he could see the tears beginning to fall from your eyes.
"Junnie? Do you have something to ask me?"

— how they would kiss their s/o
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: bf!svt x reader
genre: fluff (slightly veeeery veeery slightly suggestive)
warnings: kissing
summary: how seventeen members would kiss their s/o.
Tumblr media
scoups
i feel like he's a deep kisser, probably puts a hand on the back of your neck and pulls you towards him while the other hand is on your waist. slow kisser, loves to take his time. loves your lips, he just can't get enough. smiles after the kiss making you peck his dimple.
jeonghan
smirker omg. he's such a tease. if you ask for a kiss he would be like "oh you want a kiss? my baby wants a kiss? hmm should i give it to you?". but his kisses are soft, probably long and multiple pecks. holds one of your cheek with his hand. hums in kisses.
joshua
soft soft soft. such a gentleman he is. if you have your hair down, moves a lock of your hair behind your ear, looking at you lovingly before kissing you so sweetly. his kisses are also long. holds your bodies close while kissing. admires you after the kiss while smiling.
jun
he's a sensual kisser. would hold your chin with his hand and make you look up to him. looks at you, smirks and then leans in. his kisses are passionate, a little little rough, not too much. has one of his arms around your waist and the other hand tangled between the locks of your hair. keeps smirking after the kiss because of your flushed cheeks.
hoshi
has two sides. either the goofy one, where he basically holds your face and pulls you into a kiss, making a "mmmmuah" sound while doing it, or the serious one. when he's serious his kisses are very romantic. looks at you and smiles so wide, holds your waist while kissing you, brushes his nose against yours after.
wonwoo
soft! his kisses are short but soft. has one hand on your back, pulling you towards him and kisses you sweetly. smiles a little after the kiss, pulls your hair out of your face, and kisses your forehead as well.
woozi
he mostly does forehead kisses, but when he kisses your lips he actually fonds to it. he's a slow kisser. holds your hips while kissing, whispers a small 'i love you' after the kiss while resting his forehead on yours.
dk
soo sweet. hugs your neck and pulls you close to kiss, while your arms are around his waist. smiles in kisses. seriously, dokyeom's kisses are so sweet, his kisses show how much he loves you. (just like how he kisses the members' cheeks).
mingyu
probably hugs you from behind, placing small kisses on your shoulder, up to your neck and ear. you turn around smiling and wrap your hands around his neck, while his rest around your waist. just like jeonghan small and multiple pecks. giggles between the kisses.
the8
passionate kisser. has his hands on your waist. he has such plump lips it makes you want to bite them. when you actually bite his lower lip, he laughs, squinting his eyes as you giggle.
seungkwan
he's so shy. but his kisses are so cute. hugs you while kissing, rocks your bodies back and forth. he also has soft lips, and you can't get enough of them. so when he tries to pull away, but you refuse getting closer and whining, he giggles and keeps kissing you.
vernon
classic kisser. his kisses are not too long, not too short, just right. he may seem neutral but his kisses are actually really good. holds your cheeks when he kisses you because he finds you adorable. smiles very wide after. (😁)
dino
such a passionate kisser. holds your hands while kissing you. he just can't get enough. you pull away, smiling at him, he smiles (smirks) back and pulls you again by your hands, making your bodies touch as he hugs you, kissing you again. giggles in the kisses as well.
Tumblr media
a/n: hi guys i miss boo seungkwan. i've seen the tmea performance and oh my. they all look scrumptious 👀. by the way i saw a lot of you enjoyed the 'when you don't say ily back' headcanon so i hope you enjoy this too!

~ Push and pull, ebb and flow - you and Jun will always find your ways to each other.
Tumblr media
[ moontide ] Two figures bow at their altars when the sun sinks low in the sky, purple-pink light casting its rays onto the golden mantles. The last incense sticks burn in their holders, their sweet scent filling the salty air as they bow to their goddesses - one on the rocky cliffs, the other by the tides.
“I go to see the moon,” one whispers as they touch their fingers to the saltwater bowl.
“I go to watch the tide,” says the other, lifting salt-covered fingertips to their lips.
The incense burns stronger, brighter before it fades once more. Eyes close gently, and with a soft puff of breath, the temple masters blow out the flames.
The moon has risen by the time the two step out of their temples, the sun dipped almost completely below the horizon. One looks up at the cliffs from where they stand on soft sand, torchlight shining on the pearl-studded entrance. The other gazes down at the waves from where they stand on rocky earth, starlight glittering on the moonstone hall.
Both of them smile.
. . .
The smooth rocky outcrop halfway up the cliff hasn’t changed in all your years of serving the temple, first as an acolyte and now as the temple master. It looks the same in the pale, faint light of the crescent moon - perhaps a little more worn by the weight of the waves crashing against its side, but not by much. The ocean doesn’t usually play this high.
With a sigh, you put your basket down on the stone-carved table that has stood for generations, letting your aching legs take a rest when you sit on the accompanying bench. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times you make this trip - even with your steady rhythm of once a month, the rocks seem to sap your strength until you can do nothing but sit and wait for your forever late love.
Minutes pass, one, two. The stars twinkle into their positions in the sky. Finally a shadowy figure appears against the moon, robes fluttering in the sea breeze as it steps carefully down the cliff.
You stand, a wry smile on your lips that you can’t defeat as the sparkling dark eyes of the moon temple’s master come into view. “Late again,” you say once he reaches the far end of the outcrop. Nothing could disguise the amusement in your voice.
Jun’s impish smile, as unchanging over the years as the rock upon which you stand, could rival the stars in its brightness. “You should be used to it by now,” he says as he comes closer to set his own basket down on the table. “It’s only been… hm, years?”
Across the table, you smile at him. Across the table, he smiles at you.
Hands meet in the middle of the slab, warmth against the cold of the stone. Jun’s fingers wrap around yours, gentle and pliant in their strength as you squeeze them once, soft. “Years you could have used to get used to my punctuality,” you retort.
His laugh sounds like starlight.
Jun passes forth the wine. You set out the food. Fingers interlocked once more, you bow over the table, eyes closed in prayer to your patron gods.
The stories go that when Nature came into being from the stars and dust of the universe, She created the Moon as her first daughter, the Earth as her first son. As the oceans formed on the ever-changing Earth and your ancestors the serpents birthed their first offspring, the Moon became friends with the Tide, and in their youth they played and laughed in their cycles, push and pull, ebb and flow. There was always a sadness in this friendship, however, for the Moon could not fall to touch the Tide, nor could the Tide rise to reach the Moon. And as time passed, as the serpents played in the sea and the stars began to twinkle in the sky, the tie between Moon and Tide grew weaker as they each turned to nurture their children, leaving each other behind.
But when the blessed of the ocean began to settle on land, as they built their homes on rocky cliffs and sandy shores, they saw the Moon in its glory once more, its rise and set in tandem with the Sun. They saw the pull and push it still had with their home the Tide, the ebb and flow that had never ceased even in its weakness - a remnant of friendship, laughter echoed in waves splashing against the shore. And when its children saw its old friend, the Tide remembered the Moon once more.
The Moon still cannot fall to touch the Tide, nor can the Tide rise to caress the Moon. But they meet when the spring tide flows and the moon glows full, halfway between the sea and the peak of the highest cliffs - two mediums clasping hands in view of the ocean and the sky, love in their eyes.
Once a month you meet this way, two acolytes trained together from the moment they stepped forth into the kingdom’s grand temple. There has never been a moment you remember where you didn’t care for Jun, didn’t find peace in the sparkle of his eyes. But just as the Moon called to him, the Tide called to you, and like the gods you worship, clasped hands had to separate once more.
Many believe love is union, in remaining with one another for as long as they live. Truly, there are couples who cannot go a day without seeing the other, without holding hands or kissing cheeks or simply smiling into each other’s eyes. Which is why, you suppose, the story of the Moon and the Tide is often told with an air of wistful sadness, for even though their friendship is said to endure, many cannot believe such separation of a distance greater than the highest mountain peaks will last.
But as you raise your glass in toast with Jun, your free hand held in his across the table, you know that this is all you need. Momentary touches, yes, but even more than that, trust. The knowledge that you are able to love, and that you are loved in return.
Just as the Moon and the Tide are content in their push and pull, you and Jun satisfy yourselves in a love that spans the height of the clifftops - the ebb that brings you together at every full moon and spring tide, the flow that separates you once it is over.
When the sky begins to lighten with dawn, you stand. Jun follows your movements, beginning to clear away the contents of the table. Remnants of your late dinner and conversation disappear into the baskets, and soon, the stone top is clear.
“I will see you when next the tide flows spring,” you say, as the tradition goes.
“I will see you when next the moon glows full,” Jun replies, completing the verse.
A last laugh, a last kiss, and then you turn from each other, one descending to the sands, the other climbing to the peaks. You look back once more when you reach the edge of the outcrop to see Jun doing the same, a smile still visible on his face.
You wave, and as the first rosy finger of dawn stretches across the sky, you watch him wave back too.

seventeen reaction ₊ ༊ ˚。⋆˚
➸ the seventeen members as boyfriends.
alt title: seventeen are boyfriend coded—that's all.
cw: mentions of food, sfw, cheol's & hao's are suggestive if you squint, they’re all a little long… i was very invested
Tumblr media
masterlist
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ seungcheol
talk about a dude who is boyfriend coded fr
if he wakes up at any point during the night and realizes you happened to roll away from him in your sleep, he'll reach out across the sheets in search of your warmth, pulling you tightly into his chest before falling back asleep
and he's pressed into you so, so snugly, trapping you in his hold and tickling your neck with his shallow breaths
if you even attempt to shift away, he'll scold you in a gravelly, slurred voice or hum in protest (even if he's half-asleep) until you stop moving and accept your fate
anything you want, just say the word and it's yours
you mention that you like a specific type of flower? he's getting you a bouquet every week so that your vases are never empty. he overhears you talking about an item you've been wanting? by the very next day, it's yours, in different versions/colors cause he wasn't sure which one you'd like
treats you to frequent date-nights at high-end restaurants because you deserve nothing but the best... and he uh, has a bit of a ulterior motive haha....
these dates are a necessary staple in your relationship because he can't ever get enough of you when you get all dressed up for him
thanks his lucky stars for the patience he's been granted because you look too good and he almost can't wait until after dinner to have his way with you
whenever he kisses your cheek, he practically smashes his lips into you until your cheek is smushed and pushing your eye closed and his nose is digging into your cheekbone
whenever he has an early practice the following day and can't sleep over, he still insists on passing by your place to take you on walk or something where the two of you can catch each other up on your day and spend some time together between his busy schedules
i cannot stress this enough: you will never have to touch a steering wheel ever again
prepare to be passenger prince/princess forever. you will not need to drive anywhere when he's with you bc he insists on taking you everywhere
'hand on your thigh with your hand over his' type of guy
it’s second nature for him to scoop your legs onto his lap when the two of sit together on the couch + he’ll subconsciously start massaging your calves, rubbing at them and squeezing them in his big hands after a long day
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ jeonghan
the type to randomly kiss any bit of your skin that's exposed to him, and his kisses are so light and soft and sweet
on the other hand, he's also the type to bite you
like he'd start by softly nibbling and then his impulsive thoughts will take over and he'll bite you a bit too hard
echoes your "ow!" as if he also got hurt
but he can't watch you scowl or be mad at him for too long so he'll coo at you and apologize while holding your face in his hands (i know you've seen a clip of him going "aigoo" (아이고) when someone falls/gets hurt... it's exactly what he would say —its one of the expressions he uses very often and i can't picture anything else no matter how hard i try)
oh, he's a cheek kisser for sure
that tiny little smile that he does (see here and here for reference)... he'd do it and proceed to smother you with kisses on your cheeks because he's so obsessed with how soft they are
and no, you cannot move until he's completely satisfied and has given you as many kisses as he deems necessary
similarly, get ready to lay around in the morning until he decides he's had a sufficient amount of cuddles from you and can get on with his day
but to be honest, he's insatiable so you very well may end up lying around for an hour or two
during these cuddle sessions, jeonghan clings to you in a hug, hands softly rubbing your arms and traveling over your waist and thighs—it's not even sexual, he's just soaking up the feeling of touching you because it's something he can never get enough of
and if you did the same with him, letting your hands wander, his cheeks might glow a soft pink. that combined with the sleepy look on his face makes him look that much more riveting
he's already so pretty, you didn't think he could get any prettier but he can and he does every single day
and now it's part of your daily routine to hold each other and enjoy the comfortable silence/very light conversation about what dreams you had or what errands you have to run later
it's his absolute favorite way to wake up he literally can never get enough because he's greedy
you'd brush your hands over his shoulders and chest or softly trace his facial features, laughing when you're at his lips and he catches your finger between his lips in a soft bite (that he pairs with a little "aang!" sound effect)
and no because he's literally crazy enough to get mad at you for spoiling him with affection
sends you texts complaining because now, whenever he has to sleep away from you (bc of tour/schedules and whatnot,) he wakes up in a sour mood, missing the smell of you on his sheets and the feeling of your skin on his
and somehow that's your fault
immediately takes it back when you threaten to stop
"fine, jeonghan. i'll just make sure i get up every morning before you and that way, you don't miss me when yo-"
"what, nooooo! how could you even say that to me!"
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ joshua
i'm a supporter and enthusiast of the joshua gentleman agenda
but let me go into detail on what that really means
opens the door for you, pays for your meals, walks on the outside of the side walk,
yeah yeah yeah he does all of that but those are just the basics
joshua is a romantic, okay? this man goes above and beyond make you swoon and to ensure you feel so overwhelmingly loved and cared for all the time
knew from the moment he met you that the best things are worth the wait, so he took his time, romancing you with thoroughly planned out dates where his effort shined through, so that you'd know how much you mean to him from the start
for example: on one date, he took you rollerblading first—he put your skates on for you and strapped up your laces before helping you onto the rink where he'd stroll behind you, patiently waiting for you to gain the confidence to let go of the wall so he can take your hands in his
next, he takes you to the cutest little place that serves your favorite food (he researched it extensively and reserved the table a week and a half in advance)
found that there's a record/vinyl shop next door so you go there, and he gladly listens intently as you rave about your favorite artists and genres and songs
oh, and he's not done.
because finally, you're seated on the hood of his car, star-gazing at the top of a hill with a great view below and the two of you talking just about anything for hours on end and just as you're starting to realize how easy it feels to be around him—he's dropping you off and walking you to your door, leaving a kiss on your hand and leaving you wanting more
be serious. you're telling me you wouldn't fall in love?
fast forward, and he's still the epitome of boyfriend material
brushing your teeth next to each other and looking at one another in the bathroom mirror
skin care nights where he's picking you up so you can sit on the sink
and he's standing in front of you, one hand on your hip, the other smearing some pink goo on your cheeks as he's telling you how pretty you look
and you're so close that he can't help but softly kiss you, so slowly and tenderly until you both pull away and laugh as you realize you look ridiculous with fluffy headbands and face masks on
he holds you so close to his chest at night and will remind you that he loves you during pillow talk
quietly hums a melody when he senses you're beginning to drift off, thumb soothingly swiping your cheek as your eyes flutter shut
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ junhui
definitely does that cheesy thing where he swings your hands between your bodies as you guys are walking
likes coming up to you whenever he hasn't seen you in a bit or you’ve been doing something for a while
and he'll just throw his arms over your shoulders, resting his chin on top of your head and muttering “what are you up to?” in the tiniest voice
pet names, pet names. pet. names.
he might as well have forgotten your real name because to him you are honey or bǎobèi (宝贝) or bǎobǎo (宝宝) or baby or some other nickname he’s come up with during the duration of your relationship
even when he’s mad he doesn’t call you by your name and... you already know his temper’s pretty short... so it’s endearing to see how adamant he is about referring to you strictly as one of the soft nicknames he's assigned to you
so adaptable and mirrors all your emotions, especially if you’re excited about something or feeling a little bouncier than usual, he’s right there with you
also he thinks it's so cute when you happen to get excited about things. he's a sucker for that happy look on your face, so expect a few random gifts or surprises from him just so he can watch your eyes light up
cooks his favorite meals/comfort foods that remind him of home so that you can try them, and would be so proud if you like them
will 100% be so willing and eager to try dishes that are comfort meals for you, too (might even learn to make them just how you like them for days where you're down/sick)
nose kisses!
when he wakes up in the morning all warm and tucked up into your side and he sees the way your tired eyes blink back at him, lashes curling and eyelids heavy with sleep, he’s instantly inching closer and leaving the lightest kisses on the tip of your nose, nuzzling his own nose into your cheek and croaking a very sleepy 'good morning' into your skin
constantly plays with your hair
like, he’s not usually fidgety but if he can’t find anything to do to busy his hands, they’ll find themselves twisting and braiding your locks and it makes chills go down your spine every time
i can very vividly see jun being the kind to want to lay around with you on rainy days/his days off
watching movies, napping, talking for hours— he just loves quality time and being lazy and comfortable in your presence
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ soonyoung
lives and breaths for seeing a smile on your face, and that's not an exaggeration
will drop everything he's doing if there's a pout on your face for even a split second, and he won't stop until he finds out what has upset you
constantly babies you and expects you to baby him, too
if you had a cut or scrape, soonyoung would mirror your pout as he carefully starts cleaning and bandaging your injury
when he's done, he's pressing his lips to it because he insists his kisses have magical healing properties
also insists that your kisses are the same when he's got a cold
so naturally, when you refuse to kiss him in his snotty and sneezy state he's soooo offended
will sass you for approximately 20 minutes and refuses his medicine until he realizes you can still cuddle him
and all of a sudden he's forgiven you and settling for having you hold him instead
but seriously, soonyoung will love you so purely
his kisses are always so eager, hands clinging to your hips to pull you closer to him
if you're apart, he really loves falling asleep on the phone; it makes him feel just a little bit closer to you even when he's so many miles away on tour
and you can bet that when he's away he'll be calling you about every tiny little thing
"hey, i found a new toothpaste that's really good i think we should get this one-"
"hi baby, i just wanted to let you know that i ate the best kimchi jjigae-oh, but it's not better than yours!"
"no, no! you still don't get it. basically, the joke is: i told seungkwan he can't have coffee before a show because-"
if he gets home and you're napping he'll get all giggly and jump in bed beside you
will cuddle up to you so noisily, apologizing profusely if he happens to when he inevitably does wake you up and making it all better by wrapping his limbs around you and nuzzling himself into your neck where he unironically shushes you
"shh! you're too loud! i'm trying to sleep!" and you're looking at him because there's no way he's serious (he is)
this boy is fast asleep before you even start to drift off again
likes laying his head on your stomach so that your nails can rake up and down his back and through his scalp
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ wonwoo
he's careful and thoughtful with just about everything, and that extends to you and how he treats you.
as a boyfriend, wonwoo is so caring and unbelievably considerate of you and your well-being
honestly, he would be able to go the longest without clinging to you, but that's only because he gets his fill of your affection at very specific times and moments throughout the day
the two of you would wake up and get out of bed on your own time, whether the other is awake or not (though you usually wake up around the same time, relatively)
in his case, he'll leave a kiss on your head before heading to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face and stuff
if you got up first, you'd would kiss his bare shoulder and go do the same and once both of you have made the bed, you're ready to start your day
and here, this moment, is one of the times of the day that wonwoo will so lovingly smile down at you, hooking a finger under your chin to tilt your face up
and he'd place, on your soft lips, a kiss so lingering and slow that by the time he pulls away to wish you a good morning, his voice is hoarse and it's not because that's the first thing he's said today
you'd settle on the couch for a quiet morning with tea or coffee and maybe some reading
and, in the evening, as soon as you get out of the shower, he's waiting for you with his arms open in a wordless invitation to finally join him
and so you crawl into his lap, holding his face and kissing him, swallowing every little breath and hushed sound he feeds you as your fingers disappear into his hairline to tug on the strands
would never admit it out loud but god, does he love kissing you
he could do it for hours on end and even then it might not be enough
his proclamations of love are quiet and mumbled against your lips after he's been kissing you for a few minutes straight, both of your lips plump and red and wet
any time you call him handsome or compliment him, you get one of two reactions: he's either shooting the smoothest compliments right back at you, or on the rare occasion that you catch him off guard, you get the pleasure of seeing the tips of his ears go red
a flustered wonwoo is delectable, and you're just about the only person that can elicit this reaction from him
even when the members provoke him or tease him about how infatuated he his with you, he can easily brush their comments off
if you rub his shoulders while he games, you've got him wrapped around your finger. will 100% stop what he's doing to spin around to tend to you, even if you weren't necessarily there to ask for attention
he's immediately smiling at you in that way that he does, ie: ˘ᵕ˘
and grabbing the back of your thighs so that you can't move away
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ jihoon
i just know jihoon would be so good at massages/back rubs
you probably don’t even have to ask for one, either. you’ll just be minding your own business and his warm hands will start tending to your neck and shoulders
would probably tilt your head back with his hands half way through just so he can give you kiss as you gaze up at him
at first, you were a little apprehensive about joining him at the studio, fearing you might distract him from work
and he’d ask you to accompany him on a few occasions, never insisting beyond his first request because he respects that you’ve said no, but if you happen to share your concerns, he's so quick to reassure you
"ah, you should have said something earlier! and here i thought you just weren't interested in my job. i've been wanting to show you what i've been working on for ages!"
when you finally give in... you realize what you’ve been missing out on
there’s just something about seeing him in his element, experimenting with different sounds and techniques
he's so focused and passionate and hard working and so good at what he does that your heart leaps in your chest when you see him !!!
and you’re not distracting him at all! he’s asking for your input and your thoughts and he’s just rambling on about different musical things. even if you’re not a musical person, this is the most you’ve ever seen him talk and it’s completely infatuating to hear him speak about something he loves
loves to fall asleep to your voice
he’ll be wearing the most infectious smile from ear to ear, shivering as your finger draws random shapes on his arm or chest and your honey-like voice lulls him to sleep
i think he’d have to have at least one meal with you every day
quality time is probably a love language that he never really knew he liked until he realized how important it is to him when you guys sit down for a meal together, chatting and appreciating each other's presence
it's really about the simple things with jihoon
would get home from the gym and give you a pop-kiss before hopping in the bathroom for a shower
his gym pump…. that’s all
so, so good at comforting you or just having difficult conversations in general
very good with his words so he knows exactly what you need to hear and how to say it
will forever be willing to talk out your doubts and problems—and although he's not vulnerable too often, he might open up and share his feelings with you because he values your perspective/point of view
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ seokmin
would die a happy man kissing your lips
such a tender, thoughtful kisser; his hands are holding you, drawing you closer to him with each passing second as he loses himself in your embrace
every kiss with him is so full of intention and emotion (cut to that one time he kissed jihoon’s cheek when he was crying, see link 1 and link 2)
and he will kiss you until both of you have to pull away for air, catching your breaths and giggling a bit amidst recovering
an absolute sucker for you playing with or tugging on his hair—not just during a kiss. at any point throughout the day, run your fingers through his locks and his knees will buckle
loves planning exciting dates and outings to take you on because his memories with you are so valuable (arcade games, sunsets at the beach, picnics, mini golf, bowling, etc.) and i don't doubt he'd like matching outfits...
it would be low-key though, like if you wore a blue top and white bottoms, he'd match you with sneakers in the same shade of blue and white t-shirt or something
i picture him wearing the stupidest little smile when he shows his outfit off to you, too
will be taking plenty of pictures to store in an album he has dedicated to you on his phone, and you already know it has some cheesy title
i think seokmin is such a sentimental guy that anything that involves you or reminds him of you in any way holds so much importance in his heart
the type to keep a post-it note you left for him when you stepped out of the house one time to do a grocery run
if you use hair ties he’ll always wear one on his wrist in case you ever need it, and the day you actually do because you forgot yours, he’s so proud that he had it at the ready!
constantly sends you songs/compiles playlists of songs that make him think of you or your relationship
similarly to jun... do not call this man by his name if you don't want to break his heart. he is baby, or babe, or love, or sweet angel, or darling, or pookie, or baby cakes, or literally whichever pet name you like the most—just don't call him seokmin
as a matter of fact, he will not answer to his name. can and will ignore you until you address him appropriately and even then he might still sulk for a bit
is one of the few members that i think would encourage you to build/develop a friendship with the other guys, and there would be no jealousy at all because he enjoys seeing his favorite people getting along
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ mingyu
has to have some form of skin ship with you at all times
he’s gotten so used to it at this point that it’s almost disorienting to not have a hand on your hip, lower back, thigh, knee, or hand
if you’re wearing jeans… mingyu will have his hand tucked into your back pocket
8/10 times he’ll insist on being little spoon or being the one who goes to sleep with his head on your chest and your arms wrapped snuggly around him instead of the other way around
i mean… what even is there to complain about other than the fact that he’d definitely press his cold feet onto yours and pout when you yell at him for it
gives the most addictive, warm hugs where he completely engulfs you, arms wrapped around your shoulders and yours around his middle (bc he’s so tall) and when your cheek presses against his chest you can literally hear how his heart starts beating faster before it ultimately calms down in your embrace
the first time you fell asleep curled up on his lap, mingyu swears his world stopped
he made sure to stay completely still for the entire duration of your nap
his arm fell asleep and his shoulder was slightly sore for like an hour after but that didn’t stop him from insisting this is how you should nap every time
will lay his entire body weight on you with no remorse
or will scoop you up and lay you completely on top of him so he can stare at your pretty face
needs a hello and goodbye kiss every time either of you are leaving/arriving somewhere
not a light sleeper but wakes up as soon as he feels you pull away from him or move to get up because he’s especially clingy when he’s tired
like, if you wake up in the middle of the night to pee, he’s the type to follow you to the bathroom and hold your hand from outside the door because he doesn’t wanna be away from you
and his eyes are still puffy and closed because he’s half asleep
probably stumbles the whole way there and back but he does it every time nonetheless
it takes him significantly longer to fall asleep when he’s away from you
likes sending you mid/post workout pics so please be proud of him bc he’s so eager to take them and send them to you
another man whose gym pump is insane….. brrrrr
loves showing you new songs he’s been listening to and singing the soft ones to you in a low voice, close to your ear where he can easily kiss your neck right after
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ minghao
oh he's so sneaky and slick
despite how many times you insist on him waking you up before he leaves for practice, he literally can't and won't
when he wakes up and sees you all curled up beside him with your eyes half open and your lips parted, his heart aches at the thought of interrupting your rest
so instead, he just slips out stealthily and gets ready without making any noise, constantly peeking over his shoulder if he hears you shuffle around under the covers
before he leaves, he'll plant a small kiss on your cheek and leave you a sweet note on his side of the bed instead of a text so it feels a little more personalized
but if you do stir awake and whine or call out or something because you've noticed he's gone! he's running over!
might even crawl back into bed to hold you until you're asleep again, even if that means he's running a few minutes late now
the type to handmake you things all the time, whether it's a painting or a scarf or a bracelet or a clay mug
and oh, the lazy kisses with this one. oh, my
they start at your lips and whether or not he intends to take it any further, it always escalates a bit because i truly think minghao would just love kissing in general and he may not be able to stop once he starts
he'd like sucking your bottom lip between his (specifically because he gets turned on by he loves how swollen and puffy it is after he pulls away) as his hands disappear into your hairline or under your shirt to bring you closer
he slowly trails down to drag his mouth along your jaw and neck
mind you, this is all while you're both laying in bed, and he's somewhere between hovering above you and cuddling into your side so his warmth and proximity is dizzying
and on days off where he has nothing he'd rather do that indulge himself in you this is favorite way to pass the time
he lets his warm tongue wander freely over your throat, teeth occasionally grazing the skin
long talks as you guys are readying for bed where he caresses your skin and kisses your fingers
always look so deeply into your eyes whenever you're talking
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ seungkwan
seungkwan is your boyfriend, best friend, and biggest headache all in one
conversations with him would be so, so undeniably entertaining
he absolutely loves telling you stories and they're so captivating because he's such a great conversationalist and everything he says is interesting
he'll talk your ear off. you guys would start talking at approximately 8pm, and suddenly the sun has come up and you're still talking ?????
something i think would be very common is bickering
it's always light hearted and never ends in a real argument, but it usually starts when one of you just feels bored and wants to get the other's attention
definitely ends with the victim sulking and pouting and the other having to make it up to them with plenty of kisses and apologies
probably fusses about needing his space to sleep and shoos you away
and by the morning he's completely wrapped around you, snoring softly and peacefully and all you wanna do is kiss his puffy lips because why does he have to be so stubborn all the time
complains if you wanna try his food but he’s always eyeing yours
will do the thing where he opens his mouth for you to feed him a bite and you just have to roll your eyes before giving in
only then will he willingly let you try his
seungkwan's face gets so, so red when you kiss his jaw or neck
he’s ticklish so he’ll gasp or form his lips into an ‘o’ when he feels your mouth there and maybe even start complaining even though he a, doesn't even mean it, and b, is tilting his head up to give you more space
isn’t too affectionate all the time but he does like leaning his head on your shoulder, especially on the couch as you watch a movie
his cheek is pressed into your shoulder blade as he's fidgeting with your fingers
kisses your arm repetitively !!! leaves a bunch of little smooches behind while he’s there
would also kiss your beauty marks/freckles
seungkwan memorizes your orders at restaurants and coffee shops so that he can surprise you with them when he comes over
would love going on walks with you during all the different seasons and talking to you about the changes in the trees and the weather
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ vernon
finds literally anything you say funny
will follow you around the store if you go shopping just carrying what you pick out/would carry your bag or purse for you most of the time
you may have to initiate a lot of the affection at the beginning of the relationship until he gets comfortable with it
it’s not that he gets flustered or anything, he just might not take the initiative at first
but once he does, his go-to is looping his pinky around yours and just holding it in a resting state, regardless of what you’re doing
in the morning, he wakes up before you and just goes on his phone until you wake up
and as soon as he notices you’re awake he’ll tilt the phone to you, showing you a tiktok he found funny
and i just KNOW his brightness is maxed out, too
you guys end up taking accidental naps all the time
he’s in bed on his phone when you come in and when he sees you, he lifts up his arm so that you’ll come and lay with him
and the two of you are just scrolling through videos on his phone until you both somehow fall asleep for the next three hours
your family and friends would absolutely love him :(
kisses with him start off as lazy pecks, lips smacking a few times before one of you gets the urge to deepen it and then his hands are slowly coming up to cup your face or hold your jaw
would also kiss the corner of your lips
favorite cuddling position is the generic ‘your head on his chest’ because when he feels you look up at him he’ll glance down to meet your eyes and pucker his lips to request a kiss
that, or just spooning because he likes curling up into your back for warmth
leaves a kiss on your hair while he’s there
i’m sorry but he WILL fall asleep while you’re talking
he doesn’t mean to but your voice is so soft and nice to listen to that he’ll try resting his eyes and end up up knocking out
vernon carries a picture of you in his wallet
it’s the first picture he remembers deeming as his favorite of you, and he printed a copy of it so he could carry it around when he was traveling or touring
and he doesn’t just have it there for show or for whenever he pulls out his wallet to pay for something
he will frequently pull it out so he can gawk at the picture of you when your time zones are different and he can’t call or text
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ chan
your hand might as well be permanently attached to his because he is always intertwining his fingers with yours
kisses on your knuckles and soft proclamations of love as he ogles you with the softest, most heartsick look on his face
will kiss your temple as his arms wrap around you, one hand coming up to gently caress your cheek
makes such an effort to learn about/show interest in the things that you like
even if he doesn't know anything about it, he will sit and watch you, pondering the techniques out loud as well as other questions he may have
could listen to you talk absolutely forever. literally anything you have to say is automatically the most interesting thing ever
he is 100% whipped for you and he doesn't even care if the other members poke fun at him for it. will never feel even a sliver of embarrassment because what is there to be embarrassed about? he bagged you... that's the biggest win in his book
even if they poke fun at him, they'd never poke fun at you. in fact, the members are so fond of you + they're so grateful that chan has someone like you who makes him so happy
and he knows they love you, which is why he tolerates their jokes
nibbles on your neck in the morning/before bed as he breathes in your scent
always making you laugh. at all times, in both unserious and serious situations, at the best and worst times... ever since you met this boy, you're always laughing
he's so quick witted that even when you guys are arguing about something, he'll end up cracking some wise ass joke and suddenly you're both doubling over, the topic at hand vanishing at once
any and i mean any act of service you do for him will not go unappreciated or unnoticed
you've cooked him a meal or folded his clothes? he's melting, pouting and whining at you because you didn't have to do all that :(
he's just constantly reminded how lucky he is to have you
the most supportive boyfriend ever
also your personal hype man
not only will you always feel so beautiful around him because he makes sure to tell you just how amazing you always look, but any and all doubts you have are gone
with chan, you feel like you can tackle absolutely anything because he gives you so much confidence and reassurance; always knows exactly what to say so that you feel loved and assured
and you figure, if he believes in you that much, there's no reason you shouldn't believe in yourself
