#surrounded by friends and family #but still I feel lonely #I feel so bad that I’m not grateful enough #or not appreciative enough #but it really fucks me over that in the last 4 years no one that I’ve loved romantically has loved me back the same way #I was a rebound or source of comfort #I was fun and decently attractive #but not loveable apparently #im proud of myself for realising I deserve more and walking away from those people #but I wish I didn’t crave the safety and validation of those relationships #I think subconsciously it is getting to me #being so far away from my family #it makes me lonely even if they’re not always easy to deal with #also im wondering how much my relationship with my dad is impacting all of this #I love him #but he’s a workoholic and an introvert #quite emotionally absent #I feel like I only talk to him about my studies #and we easily get in arguments over it because I quickly feel like he’s criticising or nagging me #when really I think he’s just trying to help #like if there’s one thing he knows it’s the world of academia #but I think by him showing his love in that way it makes me feel like I’m only worthy of love when I perform well academically

this is such a simple but good bad kids friendship moment to me. fabian being the first one to say hi to gorgug when he shows up in the middle of the investigation, followed by fig. gorgug saying hi but communicating that he doesn’t want to talk & them both not understanding but going “okay.” gorgug saying hi to riz as a form of acknowledgement even though he’s in full blown investigative mode & probably hasn’t realized gorgug is there yet. gorgug feeling comfortable enough to just put on his headphones & unwind while sitting there with his friends. they’ve come so far from freshman year ❤️

i do think a lot of people in the west, at least the young people, have no memory of what it's like to live under the threat of being criminalised for your queerness

like i still live in a country where it's illegal to be gay or trans. i do have a tendency to relate more so to literature from older gays who lived through the times when it was still criminalised. im incredibly lucky that i can just be myself with my family and friends, so im not closeted 24/7 and i have my safe spaces. but i do not get to be open about it in public. i have to hold my breath every time i do anything government related or have to present id in some way since im male-presenting while having female identification.

so to see westerners saying 'ohhh I'd be a criminal in these countries', you'll just be a tourist, you have fucking passport privilege, my government is not gonna go after a white queer like you. and also on top of that be racist about it, yeah fuck you
