Ahh I can finally share this with you guys.

I commissioned @ollisid a couple of months ago and not only did they do a beautiful job, it was also one of the most amazing processes I’ve ever been through.

They were so kind, and worked with me not only to bring my vision to life but with payments as well(June rocked my bank account horribly)

10/10 would, and will, be purchasing more art from them.

So this piece is really personal-probably the closest I’ll ever get to a face reveal on here lol! Also an inspo pic for my fic The Sweetest Sylaung which I will link below.

No one deserves Zero Notes.

Every time I see an Artist's Awesome Artwork or Writer's Fantastic Fanfic not getting the notes it deserves (sometimes it's ZERO. ZERO??), there is a very distinct feeling of indignation/rage/frustration/"are you effing kidding me" that descends on me that makes my muscles physically ache. I get SO mad on their behalf.

I get more upset than I do for my own work, probably because I can only imagine the hard work they put into their creations and the disappointment they must feel with the reception.

PLEASE SHOW LOVE FOR ARTISTS AND WRITERS. It takes a community, not just one fan screaming at the top of their lungs. (Seriously, I cannot spend more time on Tumblr than I already do.)

Even just a LIKE. I know there's no obligation to ever give anything, but come on. No one deserves Zero Notes. Let's make that a policy.

Behind every fic you read or piece of art you view is a writer or artist desperately waiting to know what you thought of it. A person who yearns to hear what your favourite part was or what line resonated with you the most, how it made you feel.

Imagine being able to tell your favourite author or artist exactly the things you loved about the story they wrote or the image they created?

Well, you can.

Please consider interacting more with fic and art than just hitting the like button.

I promise you it does wonders and will surely guarantee you more of the exact thing you love seeing from them.

It doesn't have to be much, something as simple as a keysmash in the tags will suffice, but if you give us more than just that like that tells us "hey I saw this and it's cool, I guess" it will mean so much more than you know.

Likes don't reveal much. We don't actually know that you read/appreciated that piece or simply scrolled past it on your dash and nonchalantly tapped it just because it was there.

I will forever stand by the premise that if you enjoy something, you should share it and tell the artist that you did.

At the end of the day, we're all seeking the same things, so don't be shy to send an ask on anon telling the creator "hey, I loved x" or reblog with your thoughts in the tags. Send a DM if you're really not into other people seeing what you're enjoying, but for the love of all things holy,

interact in some way more than just a like.

hi, thanks for all you do for the Noah Reid/ Schitt's Creek fandom! I am loving your Noahvember posts. Do you have any suggestions for how to purchase Noah's music in a way that will get him some money? I have been streaming it but I know streaming is not the best for the artists themselves. According to his website, his CDs have been sold out for many months (except for Adjustments which I ordered and am awaiting). Does he have music for sale at his shows? Thanks for any ideas - no rush for a response.

It's a rough world out there for anyone who creates and sells things - it seems like everyone makes money except the artists.

The best way to support Noah (and other musicians) is to buy albums directly from him, either at his shows (he had vinyl available on tour, but not CDs, I think) or online.

After that, we're all left with streaming as the main option. Not all streaming services pay the same amount, so if you really want to support artists, consider switching away from Spotify, Amazon and Youtube (which pay a criminally low amount) to Tidal or Apple Music, which pay 2-3 times more (but still a ridiculously small amount). The best option is actually Napster, which I had no idea still existed, but apparently it pays the most to artists. You can also consider buying Noah's albums through your digital music store (like iTunes or Google Play) and then streaming them as I think Noah gets more money from those sales.

Once upon a time, I would have recommended Bandcamp, but a) Noah never had his music on there and b) they've just been purchased by Songtradr, so expect them to be strip-mined for venture capital profits in short order.

Buying tickets and merch also supports artists, so even if you are only able to stream Noah's music, you could consider buying merch as an enjoyment "tax" to support him. According to this article, the revenue from 1 t-shirt=8,750 streams. Perhaps you need a toque or some socks?

Wait. People sell A.I. "Artwork" now as commissions??

How naïve am I that I just realized that this has become a thing??!

I know how hard real artists work to sell and create commissions. The thought of AI being used to make money via commissions in an already crowded market makes me pretty *bleeping* mad.

Please do not support these "businesses". It is one thing to use AI for personal fun, but it's another level to use it for profit.

It's pretty much the same thing as a book that was AI-generated from data scraped off Ao3 fanfics getting published and sold.

Please support and buy artwork from REAL ARTISTS who thoughtfully drew it for you from scratch (digital or traditionally) with their own hands. PLEASE.

Artificial "art" will never be as good as Real art. Never. We do not want our creative spaces flooded with ugly fake art because we failed to support real artists.

Artists struggle enough without having to deal with this kind of insult.
