The unlockable image of Mario wearing sunglasses from Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (top) is not a render, but is actually a Game Boy Camera photo of a 1996 officially licensed Mario plush from Japan (bottom). The brand of sunglasses the plush is wearing in the photo is not currently identified.

okay so I was working on a Mario related project and I was scrolling through the Mario wiki and ended up looking at Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and finding this photo
I saw this and without a second thought in my mind I went
hey, this could be a reaction image
so I make it transparent
and cleaned it up
then decided hey, why not color it
and that's how we got here, I don't know what to do with this, so I'm posting it to Tumblr
use it as discord emojis/stickers, a reaction photo, whatever, no credit needed because I was just bored
Usually audio stops playing when another audio starts, but today I got a free awesome mashup
[Video description: my tumblr feed showing the bottom of an out of touch Thursday fandom meme video, and a post by @mariomusicdaily with an audio file for the song You VS. Boo! from Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. Both audios play at once, creating some horrible out of touch vs. boo amalgamation. /End VD]
A personal story about how school, hospital stay, and Mario Bros. games have impacted me
The first Mario game I've ever had was Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the Game Boy Color. I had the red one, and my sibling had the green version.
When I was a kid one year, I not only had a bad time at school (I had forgotten most of what happened in that grade, so maybe it was for the best), I wasn’t the perfect student, but what I do remember the most is that my teacher sucked for not only giving me a low grade on a paper but for displaying my low-graded work on the wall in the hallway for people to see. For a normal teacher, it would make sense to give a kid a low rating if it’s bad work and tell the kid to improve next time, but to literally post the failed paper on the wall for others to look at is terrible. Talk about ruining a kid’s self-esteem! My parents took it up with the principal. The teacher was told by the principal to change my grade to a passing one because she took it too far. The grade was changed thankfully. The paper I had written was a long story about a dragon that was raised by sea horses. The story wasn’t original or had the best grammar by any means, but the concept was interesting.
I was also diagnosed with scoliosis. Here's a quote directly pasted from Google to explain what that is:
“Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that most often is diagnosed in adolescents. While scoliosis can occur in people with conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most childhood scoliosis is unknown. Most cases of scoliosis are mild, but some curves worsen as children grow.”
Anyways, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe was the last video game I played with my sibling before the spine surgery. Having doctors install a metal rod into the spinal cord was pretty tough to go through. Very painful experience that I had to relearn how to walk again. I played Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64 at the hospital during my recovery. I played Birdo in the game. Also, I watched odd TV shows like Baby Looney Tunes to help pass the time. Despite the pain, I was glad to be away from school. My substitute helped me pass the class instead while my actual teacher was away. So yeah. I have a strong connection with Nintendo, but I hesitated to share it with anybody online. I decided to make this post regardless.
