A 1991 commercial for officially licensed Super Mario Bros. 3 fruit snacks contained an extremely brief scene transition that featured an original animation of a dancing palm tree, referencing similarly dancing palm trees on the world map of Desert Land in the game. Here, the animation is isolated and looped.

the way that new mario game seems to be pulling a lot of poses and stylization from old official promo art got me thinking back to these style-imitation pieces i did back in 2020 for a friend's fangame project... old NES/SNES-era promo art is so interesting to study!!
