They
The culture of they.
I was listening to Earl Nightingale talk about how society is consumed/focused on the aspect of “they” and how people don’t really “live”. I’m assuming he meant “live” as in, people dictating and deciding what to do without being overly influenced by others.
Then I went to the grocery store. I remember some time ago even with my mom she would buy the National Inquirer and read it...I remember the random story of a woman giving birth at the age of 70...I’m like...”Wow...”, then soon after I’m like....”So..?”
There are so many things that happen to people, and so many people that are there to report it in the way they see it. That’s the funny thing about perspective, it’s unique to the individual, it doesn’t always mean it’s true to a mass of others.
Perspective is the reality of an individual, not always the reality to all.
Think about business and how it works; gossip is a business. When I went to the grocery store, I observed all of the magazines that were by the register, just a plethora of stories about other people. From Queen Elizabeth to Muhammad Ali, just stories of people's lives from the perspective of workers, or the magazine itself.
I then went on my phone. Facebook has a news section. I scroll through it from time to time, and here we go again...everything is about “they”. From a man being inside of a whale's mouth to a “sexy” picture of Kim Kardashian that allegedly Travis Barker took and Biden’s vote and what he did wrong when he met the Queen, lol it’s too much of “they”.
Why should I care? Why should I live my life looking and peeping at “they”?
I don’t. It’s a choice. There is so much more to life than “they”. So many memories to make, so many things to do. Live your life for you. Don’t worry about “they”. Life is in the hands of the beholder... if others want to focus on “they” that’s them... moving towards a why is one of the greatest things in life. Finding and building a purpose that’s bigger than myself. Some days it’s tough, and like today I may feel like I want to quit but....these moments seem to pass because my why has more meaning to it than some may understand.
So... when it comes to “they”, be careful, it can cause you to forget about what you have, it can cause you to forget about where you are and how blessed you are...
We’re all blessed, it just takes some times to look inward to find out what it means.
