This gives me so much hope that I can actually add Gingerbreading to the farmhouse "on my own" just fine; I really want Gingerbreading on the Farmhouse. But I was afraid it'd be either too expensive to buy to do, or take way more skill than I possessed. But this seems much easier than I anticipated!

Operation functional home Take two-week six I think

Lost momentum as I returned to my school year work schedule and the weekly routine changed.

Have managed to keep dishes, laundry, trash, and cat litter boxes mostly contained and usually not excessively smelly.

Pm a positive note I am developing better bedtime routines that are helping me have better quality sleep.

Recent accomplishments:

Got the barn kittens neutered, and the female kitten rehomed

Got my tire replaced after it picked up a screw and ordered a full spare kit (that was a 6 hour ordeal)

Changed my bed sheets and got the new mattress protectors on in the process

Started cleaning out my personal email and have deleted several years of junk mail

My thrift store book haul today. Once a month-ish, my 15 y.o. and I go to lunch and then we go thrifting. They look for clothes while I shark the home goods aisles and then read books while I wait for them to look at every stitch of clothing in their size. They had a great clothing haul themselves, and I had 20% off... win-win! I'm so thankful they aren't into fast fashion. I love this time with them. I also found a vintage 1950's Foley Food Mill that cleaned up nicely with some Bar Keepers Friend, a Scotch-Brite pad, and little elbow grease. I foresee some homemade tomato sauces from the garden, apple and pear sauce, mashed potatoes, riced cauliflower, grape jelly, and possibly some blueberry wine in my future. Simple pleasures give me a rich life. 💜

Chicken cuddles after a morning spent taming the zucchini patch before the heat set in. This is my element: sweaty and dirty after a session of hard work growing food for my family, and loving on my critters. And even got to some writing this evening once the kiddos went to bed. My life is by no means glamorous and I'll never pretend it is. You don't get fakeness from me. Most of my non-winter days are spent in my yard dressed like a hobo with dirt up to my knees and elbows.

Work hard. Stay busy. And keep at it. :)

Ps. Miss Barbara here just has a case of RBF. She's actually the sweetest out of all our girls and loves attention.

Operation functional home: Take two- August 28 update

Update below poll:)

Cleaning capacity has slowed from the beginning of the month now that I am returning to my normal work schedule. Work related issues and events have also pulled more of my spoons so I am going back to my pre-summer method of 1-3 focus tasks + a 15-20 minutes of general tidying at the end of the day.

Improve: vacuuming the guest bedroom, and working on creating a better pre-bedtime routine to improve sleep health. Took my vitamins all week:)

* mental and physical health are an important part of a functional home

Maintain:

- kept up with majority of normal laundry, including most of the folding

- started catching up on seasonal laundry and pet blankets

- took out the trash

- picked up all the dog paper and fluff chaos

(It's amazing how just picking up the dog toy explosion makes the house feel instantly cleaner)

- vacuumed the living area, dining area, and entry. For those who've seen my earlier posts that's basically half my main room.

Waiting for the storm to pass. I harvested my banana peppers before the rain came, I'm going to fridge pickle these ones. I've already got some water bath canned and I don't have the supplies to do that myself so fridge pickling it is!
