“Is that okay, Onii-san?”
-- Iwasaki (Sasara) to AsaShin (Samatoki)
Classroom Seat Battle
Q: Which seat would best suit your characters? Please choose, and if someone else chooses the same seat, you’ll have to duke it out with your reasoning. Other leaders will vote whether you get the seat or not.
Translation under cut!
——
Subaru: (picks seat 4 for Ichiro) Since he is “Ichiro”, of course I’ll pick the “first” seat. He’s also a very determined and competent man, so I think he’ll be sitting front and centre paying attention to lessons.
MC: Is there anyone who disagrees?
Everyone: (silent)
Subaru: (jokingly throws down board) Seriously? Is it okay for this choice to be settled so quickly?
AsaShin: Our battle starts only from now [for the other seats].
Shirai: Ahh, I thought you’d pick seat 1 because of the “1”, but you didn’t.
Subaru: No, no, no. Seat 4 is the “first” seat in front.
MC: Did no one consider seat 4?
Everyone: Not even once.
——
AsaShin: (picks seat 2 for Samatoki)
Hayama: (very cute) Wait a minute! (also picks 2)
MC: Let’s hear your reasons please.
AsaShin: This is something Showa era people would be more familiar with I think; Heisei era kids might not get it. In the Showa era school, ALL THE BAD KIDS SIT AROUND THERE.
Everyone: (laughing)
AsaShin: Ichijiku, she’s a bit bad right? And Amayado Rei (laughs) he’s bad too. So Samatoki in seat 2 would sit like this with his feet up; and if he hears someone say something meaningful in class he’d go (slow claps)
Then everyone in class will also follow his lead. Therefore, it’s seat 2 for him.
Hayama: When you say it like that, I [Kuko’s ‘sessou’] am also quite the bad child. I [sessou] would keep his feet up while chewing gum. Plus, Ichijiku would probably be in charge of class discipline, whereas Kuko is a person who begrudgingly acknowledges the rules, while Rei is a person whom rules have no meaning; they form a really interesting triangle combo there.
AsaShin: I feel like Kuko should take seat 3 actually, since he can be close to Jyushi and Hitoya. It’s also a triangle.
Hayama: (catching on to the ploy) No, no, no.
AsaShin: I’m even giving seat 3 to you.
Hayama: (pushing seat 3) Well Rio is there at seat 3.
AsaShin: (pushing back) Rio is a … solitary person.
Iwasaki: (booming laugh)
MC made them vote, result: (immediate all Samatoki for 2)
Hayama: (precious child is shook) EH WHY? WAIT A MINUTE! HEY!
AsaShin: (does the Samatoki clapping pose) Thank you very much!
Hayama: (disappointed) The seat I wanted the most has been taken… [protect him pls]
Subaru: (trying to patch things up) Shinta-san mentioned just now about seat 3, what would Kuko think of it?
Hayama: (sulky) I only thought of seat 2.
Everyone: (laughing)
MC: Hayama-san, please pick again for the next round.
——
Shirai: (picks 5 for Ramuda)
Hayama: (Osakan dialect) NANDEYANE?! (picked 5 for Kuko)
Iwasaki: (sasashook) Someone non-Osakan said ‘nandeyane’!
Hayami: (also picked 5 for Jakurai)
Shirai: It’s the seat closest to FP members. Plus it’s right at the back; Ramuda is already short, in front of him is Jyuto, and Jyuto acts as the wall which shields Ramuda. Ramuda can hide behind this wall and focus on his designs during class without being detected.
But the main reason really is that he can be close to his Posse. [I’m going to cry from FP feels help]
AsaShin: Ramuda would never pick 3.
Shirai: Never! Old lady Ichijiku is there!
Hayami: I don’t wish to disturb everyone. Anyway, Jakurai is the smartest of the lot [so he can sit at the back]. He’s almost 2 metres tall, and his long hair would fly into everyone’s faces during a strong breeze; so I think if he sits at the back he won’t bother anyone. Sitting there, it also feels like he’s protecting everyone; so the lessons would proceed smoothly.
Hayama: Ah. I’ll just pick 3 then.
Everyone: Oi, are you okay?
Hayama: I have my reasons! Cause 5 is the closest to the exit, so if Kuko is late he won’t be discovered by the teacher.
AsaShin: I thought you said he would follow the rules just now? How could he be late?
Hayama: Kuko has some bothersome aspects to him too. So he can easily enter and exit without being noticed.
AsaShin: (immediate tsukkomi) Don’t skip class!
Vote: Iwasaki vote for Ramuda; Subaru, AsaShin vote for Jakurai; no one voted for Kuko
Hayama: WHY THIS AGAIN?!
MC: I’m sorry Hayama-san, but you’ll have to pick again.
——
Iwasaki: (picks seat 6)
Everyone: (not surprised, no one picked 6)
Iwasaki: Isn’t this going too smoothly?!
MC: What’s your reason for seat 6?
Iwasaki: Well of course, Rosho is in front. (quoting Rosho’s line) “I still need him by my side”— [we get it, you love Rosho]
AsaShin:(tsukkomi) But the seat is at the back!
Iwasaki: Ah but if you call out to the person in front, they’ll usually turn sideways in their seat to talk to you right? So Sasara will be at Rosho’s left side! And! Coincidentally! Nemu is right beside them.
Subaru: Ah true!
Iwasaki: (seriously to AsaShin) Is that okay, Onii-san?
Hayami: What are you asking permission for?
AsaShin: (shook, processing)
Iwasaki: Sasara will properly look out for Nemu too! (hastily tying up) So that’s why I chose 6.
Subaru: Well if no one else opposes…
Iwasaki: (max confidence) Even if anyone did, I would beat you!
——
Hayama: (defeated, picks 3) Because Jyushi and Hitoya are close to Kuko.
AsaShin: That’s what I said from the start!
Hayama: I didn’t want to admit it at first, but it really turned out this way.
Subaru: Do you think Kuko will study properly?
Hayama: I don’t think he will study.
Subaru: Gentaro is next to him, so maybe during tests Kuko can peek at his answers.
Shirai: But Gentaro lies in his answers.
Hayama: And Ichijiku is there; she’ll be so strict.
——
Shirai: (picks 1) I chose the “butt”! [the way he drew it looks like one] From the teacher’s position, 1 is a blind spot.
AsaShin: Why are you so concerned about not being seen by the teacher?
Subaru: Do you think he can get along with the people around him?
Shirai: For Sabu-chan, I think they’ll probably acknowledge each other’s respective capabilities.
Subaru: (going off into big bro world) Maybe Sabu-chan looks over one day and sees Ramuda’s designs, and he goes ‘Wow that’s cool!’
Shirai: Sabu-chan would be able to learn designing in a flash.
Subaru: (talks about how usually that seat is right in front of the stove during winter, very convenient but Ramuda would have to be in charge of changing the water in the stove)
AsaShin: That’s a Showa era thing! They have electric heaters in the air-conditioning these days!
Subaru: (shook) AH! But Samatoki in seat 2 would be in charge of feeding the class fish.
AsaShin: Well…. he is nice towards animals.
Shirai: He’d even name all the fishes!

30 days Hypnosis Mic challenge
DAY 27: a song you think would be a worldwide hit (if only it were sung in English by Eminem)
🎤 「HIPHOPPIA」 - Ichiro Yamada (3rd solo)
(link)
Very easy choice, this one.
The first time I listened to this new Ichiro's solo, I thought it was a real shame that HypMic's songs have no way of being played on international radio stations like normal songs, because this one, in English, would really slap and I'm super convinced that it would be appreciated by many rap lovers.
Leaving aside the magnificent scratch that Subaru's voice takes on in this song, I'm seriously fascinated by the lyrics and what they want to communicate. It's not something trivial at all! On the contrary, it's extremely deep, as well as impactful from a motivational pov.
I truly believe that this stuff, in English, would become an international hit. Here's the link to the full translation, for those who want to get a better idea of what I'm gonna say (link), but in short. It's not the usual ego-referenced message that you can find in a solo like Ore ga Ichiro, for example. This song really says some important things.
I'll mention just a few of the ones that I think are most iconic:
"Beyond the rough waves and shattering illusions, there's a utopia they talk about. A fragment of determination opens the door, thrusting a pencil that scribbled daydreams, eating up illusions in reality"
"If there were no dreams, what would be the point of living?
If they say, "It's impossible for you," I'll get fired up stirring up miracles in this life"
"Put your whole life into this one shot
Opportunities don't come twice, but the show goes on"
"There, there's no fighting, No distinctions, they say
Everyone is equal before the sound. That's pretty cool
Fangs sharpened to become stronger
We've crossed many corpses
Got it? We all come from the same root
No matter who, our blood is RED"
I don't know if you fully realize the beautiful message of equality that this song conveys, particularly with the last quote I wrote above. Just imagine the worldwide impact of something like this if it were sung by a bigwig like Eminem.
Eminem (or anyone else who can afford it), I'm looking at you right now, just know it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP MAKE HYPMIC GREAT IN THE REST OF THE WORLD AS WELL.
