I'm at a weird time in my life where I'm almost done with college and I get this weird nostalgia for my first year classes. So, I've decided to revisit some of the old ones and refamiliarize myself with the course material. Hopefully this time it will stick haha

day 4/70 (1 semester)

the weekend actually passed quite efficiently for me since i did not all, but a part of tasks i had wanted to do.

i did literature, english and maths and part of chinese home task. also i did some extra practice just for myself in english and chinese. it took me long, especially chinese because i started reorganising my vocabulary. nevertheless, i'm sure it's worth it.

i also discovered StudyStream, and i think i'd like to use it more because such kind of studying certainly helps to keep my focus on the tasks on the hand. i'm sure i'm doing really great

Day 1 of orthopaedics. Did a two hour forest session with my virtual study group @studystream. Also started playing this new video game that got an amazing graphics and it is based on Indian mythology. Will see how the game turns out eventually.

My weakest subject is anatomy and that makes orthopaedics a bit tough for me. Might take a little longer for revising the subject but I hoping to complete the modules soon.

Hello, Hello!

It's been a while since the last time I took my time and write here. How is everyone so far? A lot had happened in the past months, and it's the new year, 2023! I'm so sorry for not updating that much towards the last stretch of the last semester. I have a lot of things to take in, so I decided to take a break from here and focus the remaining days and weeks on finishing my pilling case studies, reports, and exams. I will try to run you through some of the highlights of last semester but today, allow me to share my reflection from the past year.

Apparently, before the last semester ends I decided to go back to our hometown in the province and spend my holidays with my mom. I spent my remaining academic days there finishing all my requirements and attending all my synchronous classes and group meetings as I did before when I first started my graduate school journey. It felt nostalgic doing all the busy work there because it reminded me how I struggled but continued to work on my first stretch of graduate school. However, I felt better too because I felt like I had a sense of relief that I was able to do all the busy stuff at the same location but with the confidence that I already knew the basics of all of these and I am slowly having progress with everything that I am doing.

Here is my studystream selca while doing my last few requirements for 1st semester :)

I can only count on my fingers the days that I spent there that the weather was fine and sunny. Most of the days that I spent there were showering, raining, or raining hard. I was not able to spend my ideal holidays because of the cuddle weather and I even had a hard time finishing all my requirements because my body would not cooperate with what I planned to do. I was not able to do much biking and swimming like I originally planned to; sad but I guess that's how life is :).

Here is my first and last beach day in our province, it seems sunny right? But it the heavy rain poured after we took these photos, and by the way I got washed out by the big waves during this short trip. Lol, I got some bruises and I got sick after.

I will update more often this time to make sure that all of you are updated with what I am up to now. It's the second semester at our university and I am already attending some face-to-face classes and some asynchronous class meetings. I know, I know, it's my fault for not updating you guys but of course, I will share everything from now on.

Here are some snaps during my trip to the province last December, I spent my christmas eve at the ship because of the bad weather. The big tilapia fish was from our small fishpond and mama decided to harvest some when I finally got home. Lastly, my mom got a cat while I was away, I named here Tisay because she is so pretty :).

Body Doubling & Procrastination

One piece of advice people give when asked about good studying techniques is to get a study buddy. To have someone there to study with to ask questions about anything you become confused about. 

Well, there is something similar used by neurodivergent people called body doubling.

Body doubling can be boiled down to saying that you just have a person sitting near you while you work. This person can either be working on the same thing as you, working on something completely different, or doing basically nothing. All that really matters is that you have another person, body, near you while you work.

The reason why this works is because this other body acts as a kind of anchor to reality. Seeing this person in front of you while you’re studying sends some type of signal to your brain that you need to mirror that person as they do their own thing. “They are being productive, so I have to match it.”

With quarantine making in-person body doubling a bit harder, here are some ways to body double:

Actually having someone physically present while you work

Going onto sites and apps like flipd or studystream where you will be on a group zoom call with other students

Watching live streams where the streamer is mainly just doing a study stream

With how simple this method is, you may have tried it by accident and figured out that it works amazingly for you, but didn’t really know why or what was going on. If you haven’t tried it, you should just test it out because it can be very impactful to your study habits.

Let's Journal

Greetings magical souls,

If you read the latest article, you already know I finished mid-school about 3 weeks ago and going to continue on high school, but what now?

I have lots of free time which I would like to divide between season job, friends and family and creative content. Yeah, and also free time, because no one does something all the time. This summer I would like to spend more time with my friends and family.

Like a new bullet journal, life is just untouched pages, where we write the story of our life. We don't know what we will write but we can affect them by which way we will choose. The new chapter is starting for me and the same as a new journal starts with blank pages.

I chose the Leuchtturm1917 in the Bauhaus edition, with a little cute quote on the top: "Everything starts from a dot.". I decided on it because I used the slim version, which you could see in older articles and also a lot on Instagram.

Let's look inside

The index is not something I use pretty often, so I pin here a small note, ideas and it's basically "a page for everything."

May reflect was something where I wanted to record my most important moments from may and there were so many of them. It's black and white for now, but I plan to add a little colour. I let you know if I gonna update it on Instagram.

I think June started to show that I'm starting to accept myself, which is why there are so many of StudyStream notes from sessions. More. This page is also partially made up of upcycled washi tape from the sticker packaging.

On the same page, there is also a small calendar which is so cute, but it isn't really practical. It better as a deletion calendar, but still can be useful for smaller event notes.

At last the name of journal is on the back, which makes the journal little more minimalistic (inspired by Nae ig: @kalepipe).

Shortly, if you skipped completely in the end, new chapter gives me a lot of possibilities, but also scares me, but I will try to find the way through, and I think you should too try it as well.

Study streams on Twitch

Hey guys! Tomorrow, 30.11.2020, I am going to do my first study stream on Twitch, my plan is to stream my studying at least 5 times a week and then on the weekends stream so chill games like Stardew Valley or The Sims or Minecraft!
