Ways to actually start studying after procrastinating
Don't multi-task: Multitasking does not come in the form of making notes and watching Netflix, it can come in the form of switching between two or three subjects too many times then it is like washing a plate and watching a show. It barely makes any sense to me.
Batching: Batching is where you take your to-do list and batch similar tasks into groups and take a break in between these batches.
Do Not Use Pomodoro Technique: Don't use the Pomodoro Technique because you have fixed tasks (tasks that require a particular amount of time) and flexible tasks (tasks that might take up more time than fixed tasks).
Flashcards: These things are the gamer-changers. Flashcards can be used in subjects which have a lot of terms that you need to remember, such as biology, chemistry, etc.
Don't feel bad about modifying your to-do list: If you have your math homework and an exam due next week, and you don't feel like doing math then you could study for your exam. Its okay to modify your tasks according to your mood.
Bonus tip: If you have to revise a chapter, get a few blank pages and put it beside your textbook/notes. While reading your notes, write down points that you can't remember or think is important that you wanna recap later on. If you compile those papers up that could be your go-to revision booklet before your exams.

Well, depression been hitting hard lately, so I'm having problems to get myself to do the things I have to do. To cheer me up I bought more plants, baked a banana bread that turned out amazing and made me feel like a powerful grandma and did some studying in the kitchen. I hope you're doing well, would love to know what you're doing rn and how you cope with mental illness when it gets too hard.

28. 10. 2022
Hii! So today I woke up at 5:50 which is very fucking weird tbh, cuz normally I wake up pretty late, unless I have school.
My mom was really happy with me tho lmao (if I woke up this early everyday maybe she would finally love me haha... ha...ha)
Ignore the bad joke.
Anyways, I'm still studying for my science midterms and on top of that I have this national level writing contest that I got selected for, so I have to come up with a story and write it by 2nd November. I'm fucking screwed, yes.
To-do list (that I will not follow):
Study assignments 16 and 17
Do physics numericals
Chemistry questions
Come up with a fucking idea for a story and start writing the first draft
Anyways, have a good day!

Software Development Context and Methodologies study | 👩🏽‍🎓🖥️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thursday 28th July 2022 🧠
My two exams ('Software Development Context and Methodologies' and 'Programming') are tomorrow and I have not been able to study at all this whole week because of stresses about going on holiday tomorrow and then having to babysit whenever I had free time - my week was very hectic!
Decided I will finally sit down and ACTUALLY study, even if I have to look after the kid with her sitting on my lap (which she is as I type this up and study). I don't even know if the exams are in the morning or the afternoon! I'm just wishing myself good luck right now

How I memorize information
My go to method is to talk to myself aloud. But to be honest, I have a tough time sitting still & reading through my notes and saying them aloud. It’s just so boring, ahah. I guess I’m more of a kinesthetic type of learner.
Tumblr media
So here are my tips on keeping memorization entertaining, and keeping you focused on the information.
self-testing
Test yourself by actively recalling what you just studied. Take a break & go for a walk, try to think of everything you’ve learned in your last study session. This helps to understand the areas you’re struggling with; you can then go back to memorize those areas.
2. walking or standing
This is something I learned from my logopedist a long time ago. And I still use it to this day. When you notice yourself getting fired up or just not being able to concentrate; just walk around your room or stand up and try again. Or try memorizing while walking. For some reason, this helps my brain to calm down. It helps me think, and focus; so I’m able to memorize a lot better.
3. fidgeting
This has also to do with me being a kinesthetic learner. When I keep my hands busy with a mindless exercise I’m able to focus on my studying way better. I get less distracted by random things around my room. Even research shows that physical activity helps your brain to control focus and attention. Even some foot-tapping or gum chewing may help to block out distractions, fight boredom, and increase productivity.
4. writing
When writing you make a direct connection between your hand & your brain. While writing tries to rewrite or reorganize the lecture. Also, saying what you’re writing down out loud can help you memorize.

Sunday, August 7th 2022
Big day today, I had a lot of things to do during the day, and since it is Sunday all I wanted to do was eat and take a nap.
We made it through Mike Meyer's Udemy Course Section 9. I was reading some reviews and I'm realizing I might not be able to pass only by watching these videos. Does anyone have any tips?
I'm enjoying watching the videos and I'm genuinely learning, but I'm not sure I'll be able to learn everything I need before the exam.
I'll keep going. It is better to fail than to never try.
