Gripping your legs firmly, she pulled you closer to her, her determination evident in every movement. Nie Huaisang… can’t move on. He doesn’t know how to.

There is so much time in a day, now. He used to be busy. Busy doing nothing, busy making himself look useless, busy thinking about how to avenge his brother, how Jin Guangyao will suffer, how good it will feel.

His brother is avenged, Jin Guangyao has suffered, and Nie Huaisang feels…

His days stretch on, full of the sect business he now has to take care of, and yet somehow still empty. No fight. No purpose.

He sits down to paint. He doesn’t know how much time has passed when he realises that time has passed at all. The screen is still blank. White. Empty.

Nie Huaisang throws the brush at it and storms out.

The piles of paperwork at his desk only grow larger when he can’t bring himself to touch them. Da-ge dragging him to training and Da-ge rolling his eyes as he buys more painting supplies and Da-ge telling him to be careful and Da-ge holding him tight and telling him that everything was going to be alright, a-Sang, everything will be fine, it’s you and me together.

He tries not to remember how he used to spend his time. He tries not to think at all.

Keeps his mind empty, like his heart.

Stone Cold

“ We’re almost there.” Kirishima spoke. “ Almost there, and then we could radio for help and get you warm.”

“ Uh-huh.” she whimpered quietly.

Kirishima had been dragging her for about 2 miles in what felt like 10 feet of snow, and was prepared to drag her 4 more if that meant getting her to safety.

They had a mission, and to say it went south was a understatement. They were ambused, and there was someone with a quirk who could make it snow, and Y/N’s quirk was not suited for the cold. She took some pretty bad blows and had a cut running down the outside of his leg,and was unable to walk on her own.

Both their comms went dead, the sudden snowstorm putting them in a dead zone. Kirishima had come out realitively unscathed and had managed to fight off all the villians, and the ones who didn’t fled the area, leaving the two of them stranded in the middle of a blizzard.

“ You gotta stay awake.” Kirishima said, shaking her slightly causing her eyes to flutter open. 

“ Sorry.” she slurred. “ M’ really sorry. I’m just tired.” That was the first sentence she had managed to string together in about  a mile.

“ I know.” he said. All they had to do, was get to the cell tower, then radio their location and Y/N would be alright. “ I know.”

Y/N’s body got heavier with with every single step, and as much as he hated to admit it to himself, she was getting harder to carry. But he was a hero, and today he had to be her hero. He spent years training to be a hero, and if he couldn’t even save the woman that saved his life countless times, then who was he besides some worthless kid, who had a stupid quirk.

Y/N thought he was anything but worthless, she actually thought he was kind of cute, in the great Dane type of way. He was loyal and protective, which was something Y/N admired. He was kind and sweet and brought her chocolate chop muffins when she was sad. He had the kind of laugh that made other people want to smile too, He was a great hero in every way that he could be a hero, and strived to be the best person, even though he was the best person that Y/N ever got to know and would ever get to know.

“ Did I do a good job?” she whispered.

“ You did a great job.” he whispered, trying to get a better grasp on Y/N.

“ I wanna be a hero.” she added. “ I wanna be a real good one.”

Y/N had wanted to be a hero, as long as she knew what the word hero meant. And she spent every single second trying to make sure she was the best damn good hero.

Eijiro thought she was the best hero, and he couldn’t tell if he admired her or loved her. Probably some sweet combonation of both. He could spend hours looking at her, because she was that damn pretty. It was like she stepped out of the most perfect picture. Her eyes were always so honest and told him everything that he needed to know. That she was sweet great and wonderful. And Kirishima wanted his share of sweet great and wonderful.

“ You’re a good hero.” Eijiro replied. “ A real good one.”

“ You think?” she said, finding the urge to llift up her head. Then she suddeny dropped it, like she had the wind knocked out of her.  “ I don’t feel good.” she whispered.

“ I know.” he said. “ I know. I’m real proud of you.”

He could feel her body stop shivering from the cold, that wasn’t good, her knees began to buckle and she suddnely became very aware of how much she weighed, and how tired she was.

“ Baby, don’t do that, just stay strong for a little longer.”

He just called her baby? A little frueudon slip.

His hands felt numb as her knees buckled and she collapsed in the embankment of snow beneath her, she was very tired, really really tired. Her eyelids felt heavy and droopy, and she was warm, which to her was a nice change of pace, and to him, was quite possibly his worse nightmare.

“ M’ not cold anymore.” she whispered. “ Is that a good thing?”

“ Yeah... yeah... it’s a real good thing.” he lied. She was going to die. She was going to die right here and now, and he was never going to get the chance to take her out on a proper date.

She was now laying on her back on the snow, and her lips were covered with a subtle blue hue. Her finertips felt like icecubes despite the fact that she was wearing gloves, she looked so damn happy it was irritating to him, because that smile was so cold it was distant.

“ Can I tell you something?” she managed. It was getting hard for her to breathe in this frigid air, but she didn’t even feel it.

“ Yeah, yeah anything.” he begged, hoping if he could get her talking long enough she could stay awake until help arrived. They had to be close by now, even if they didn’t it make it to the tower, someone had to find them. The question was, was it going to be before Y/N froze to death.

“ I think you’re handsome.” she muttered. “ And I want you to ask me out to dinner or something.” 

“ Thanks. I think your pretty.” he said,his eyes welling up with tears. “ You’re the prettiest girl, you know that?” he asked and she struggled to nod. “ And when you get home, there gonna make you feel all better, and then I can take you out on a proper date.” he added.

“ I’m gonna die, aren’t I?” Y/N asked sweetly.

“ I hope not.” he replied. “ They’re gonna come any minute now, and get you all warmed up.”

She took a especially long blink and took a very long, deep breath.

“ Ei.”

“ Yeah.”

“ I’m really tired.” she muttered.

“ I know baby, you just gotta stay awake, a little while longer.” he whispered, he forced himself to look up, pretending to look for the airplane, but it really was so the last thing she saw, wasn’t him crying.

He was  supposed to be her hero, and she was gonna freeze to death due to his own icomptence and inablity to be a good hero. She was gonna die, in the cold, and the last thing that she was going to see was the man who failed to save her crying because he was pathetic.

“ I’m really sorry.” she whispered. “ Sorry for never asking you out, and I’m sorry for dying, I really didn’t mean to.”

“NO...NO... YOU DON’T GET TO DO THAT, YOU DON’T GET TO DIE ON ME.” he yelled.

Her eyes were fluttering shut and her smile started to drop, he could feel her body, which she was holding close to her chest starting to grow weak. She was glad that the last thing she was gonna see was the man that she knew she loved.

“ Please, don’t die on me.” he begged. 

He laid down next to her agaist his better judgement. His chest was starting to ache and his head felt heavy. Against his better juudgemnt he let himself close his eyes, he just wanted one last minute to be with her before he had to leave her, she deserved that. He at the least deserved it.

He woke up four days later, to the steady but annoying beeping of a heart monitor. The light was nearly blinding, and the air around him felt warm. Holy hell the hair around him was warm, he was warm.

He forced his eyes open and tried to sit up quickly, but that was harder than he thought, because even thinking of moving sent shooting pains through his chest and into his stomach, his vison was blurred.

Something was touching his hair, and he didn’t like it. He wanted Y/N, he wanted to know if she was alive. He wanted Y/N to touch his hair, and he needed to get up and go find her. The blood was pumping in his ears so quickly that he couldn’t hear the sound of her soothing voice.

But the something touching his hair, wasn’t so much a something but a someone, he could feel soothing fingertips carding through his hair. He could recongnize that soothing touch anywhere.

He forced himself to blink a few times tp clear his vison and forced himself to breathe so he could hear something but the beeping, he turned his head to the side, and there she was in all her not dead not frozen glory, looking down at him with a wide smile and a few stray tears streaming down her face.

“ Ei! Thank god you’re okay!”

“ So how about that date huh?” he managed to whipsper through a strained voice.

“ How about it?”

Happy 30th Anniversary to the series that has been a part of my life longer than any other.

I'd like to tell you dudes a personal tale or two from my life. Mortal Kombat was the first game series I ever really was impacted by.

Fun fact: I got my username directly from the character "Smoke".

Though all in all dudes, Reptile has always & will always be my favorite. REPTILE SQUAD FOR LIFE YO.

Anyways: One of the first ever comics I ever attempted to make, some of my earliest art, was these Mortal Kombat "Komics". It was called like "Mortal Komics" or "Mortal Komedy Komics". Very very important to spell it with a "K" otherwise you're going to be banished to the fucking netherrealm for your heinous grammatical errors.

I remember I drew them on several pieces of printer paper & stapled them together to make a book. I was trying to emulate these old Calvin & Hobbes & Garfield comic collection books I read endlessly. The "komics" of mine were trying to be like a "komedic" sunday strip but it's Mortal Kombat characters. They were fucking terrible & 90% of the jokes were not jokes because they were so incomprehensible that not even I can fucking understand & remember what in the ever living fuck I was trying to convey.

But my art would not be what it is today without Mortal Kombat. It inspired me so much & it still does.

I also remember one year for valentines day, I made each of my family members a card but each card had a Mortal Kombat character with a stupid "funny" quote. The only quote I can distinctly recall was the card that I drew Jarek on. It said "Shut up & eat, it's valentines day" & I drew Jarek eating a fat fucking drumstick. I don't get the joke either, I mean, is the joke that Jarek is just kind of a rude asshole who refuses to talk with you during dinner? I mean, okay Jarek, you're very fucking rude. The other one I distinctly can remember was I gave the card with Reptile on it to my mom. There was probably a Cyrax & Smoke & Sub Zero ones too. I recall being made fun of a lot by all of them that year. I remember laughing it off with them but, really, it honestly just fucking hurt a lot. I mean, I was trying my best that year to give them something personal, that's why I went with Mortal Kombat. Yeah it was like over a decade ago, but still. To me, these characters are something that gives me so much serotonin. They just....make me happy, y'know dudes?

Mortal Kombat made me WANT to tell stories. Like beyond just one-off jokes haha funny comic strip type shit. Mortal Kombat was when I discovered the idea of having shit like world building, lore, & on-going stories with a whole "kast" of "kharacters".

I was so damn invested in it too, I think the first one I ever played was Deadly Alliance. I have the most distinct memories with UMK3, DA, Deception, Armageddon, MK9 (Mortal Kombat 2011 was over a decade ago, I hate the unstoppable passage of time.)

I will NOT be mentioning MKvsDC because I fucking hate that game & I hate that they cancelled an actual Mortal Kombat 8 for it. Like, fuck you that's such bullshit dude. Total Cowabummer.

Deception is by far my favorite game in the entire series. It's just pure Mortal Kombat Perfection. Sometimes I just love to turn on the game, load into Konquest mode & just leave it on in the background. Just getting lost in that world. This series has gotten me through a lot of really awful shit in my life. It still gets me through now actually.

This series means a lot to me man, these characters, yes this is gonna be sounding stupid, but they're like family to me dude. Yes that's fucking stupid but y'know what I don't even care anymore. These games have made me strive to be a better artist, a better writer, and a better well...idk just better. I mean shit man, when I'm down & just rock bottom feeling totally bogus, Mortal Kombat always helps cheer me up.

This was rambling as fuck but what I'm trying to say is, thank you Mortal Kombat, for always being there my whole damn life. You gave me so many memories & made me strive to be the best damn artist dude I can be. & I'll continue to do that til' I'm 6 feet underground.

Ed Boon, John Tobias, all of the midway guys who worked on those games, I know none of you will ever see this. But thank you for creating this series that defined who I am today. Thank you for the memories I have because of these games. Just, thanks for everything dudes & dudettes.

Here is a bit about me 😅 :

I’m 5 feet 3 inches and blonde with long hair. I have glasses very similar to the style that Daniel Jackson wears on Stargate: SG-1. I’m grey ace and look feminine, but I am somewhere under the non-binary umbrella.

For my personality traits, uh, well, I have two anxiety disorders, lol. Specifically social anxiety and generalized anxiety. I definitely try to be social when I can, /but/ it can be difficult. I’m definitely a hopeless romantic, often to a fault. I could best be described as … indoorsy. I like reading, writing, occasionally drawing, and watching movies. In particular I’m a pretty huge horror movie fan. I also very much enjoy movies from the 30s-50s, particularly film noir.

I also enjoy houseplants and love reptiles. I actually own two lizards. :D

I got an English lit degree and my job involves copy editing and writing, so analyzing writing and such is a big part of my personal and professional life.

Ramaswamy’s push to end climate-conscious investing

Over the years, Ramaswamy has been known for many things: founding a biotech company called Roivant Sciences; becoming a near-billionaire; and performing libertarian-themed rap songs under the stage name "Da Vek."

But recently, he’s become best known as “the right’s most prominent crusader against climate-conscious investing.” His latest mission: ensure Republican-led states pull their money from big investment firms like BlackRock that are trying (or at least claiming) to make more climate-friendly decisions, and reallocate that money to his firm, Strive Asset Management, which explicitly promises not to invest with the climate in mind.

The fossil fuel industry has wanted someone to do this for many years. As we’ve previously reported, the anti-ESG movement—which pushes corporations to reject environmentally and socially conscious investing principles—was originally created by fossil fuel industry operatives to try to delay the renewable energy transition.

The movement fizzled in the early 2000s. But it was revived in 2022, when Ramaswamy launched Strive with the help of billionaire investors Peter Thiel and Bill Ackman, as well as the same fossil fuel industry-connected group that spearheaded the original movement.

Ramaswamy has reported more than $50 million in holdings in Strive, which to date, is mostly a fund to promote fossil fuel development. As Semafor reports, the largest fund at Strive—called DRLL—“ invests in U.S. energy companies and urges them to keep drilling for oil so long as it’s profitable.”

Though Semafor describes DRLL’s holdings as “energy,” the vast majority are fossil fuels. According to Strive’s own description, 93.6 percent of DRLL’s investments are in oil, gas, and pipeline companies. These companies rank among the world’s top climate polluters.

People would not invest in these companies—much less push them to drill as much oil as humanly profitable—if they accepted the science of climate change. They would not invest if they accepted that fossil fuels are causing catastrophic planetary damage. They would not invest if they accepted that this damage cannot be stemmed without rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels.

That’s why Ramaswamy pushes rejection of the “climate change agenda.” He says it’s because he’s not “bought and paid for.”

The reality is the complete opposite.

Denying the need for fossil fuel reduction is climate denial

Ramaswamy’s style of fossil fuel boosterism, as described by the New Republic, is on the rise in Republican circles. So as we continue to hear it, it’s important to remember two things:

If someone says climate change does not pose a massive threat to human life, economies, and ecosystems, then they are denying the science of climate change.

If someone says climate change can be effectively managed without reducing the use of fossil fuels, then they are denying the science of climate change.

Ramaswamy didn’t flat-out say that climate change is a hoax. But in the debate and in follow-up interviews, Ramaswamy made clear he doesn’t believe climate change poses a massive threat to human life, and doesn’t believe that transitioning away from fossil fuels will help.

This is an opinion he is allowed to have. But it is a rejection of the vast majority of climate science. It should be characterized as such.

i think as of strive hes trying to be a little more gentle with himself before sleep. actually nestling down his stuff and tucking himself in and everything. I do not think he did that before. i think he slept on the ground and felt bad about anything else unless it was his rinky dink clinic that got burnt down in ggx.

– Sleeping habits headcanons

pre strive: doesnt sleep a lot, usually only out of exhaustion. wants to fall asleep as FAST as he can (fainting is good for this) because he doesnt like being alone w/his thoughts before it happens. nightmares flare up randomly but are better around xx.

post strive: likes big, fluffy nonsense and is getting better at admitting this to himself. loves soft and silky textures so at the very least hes buying a nice blanket to carry around. trying to follow his own sleep advice, but does often find himself lacking still. sleeping habits are just things that are hard to fix.

all the time: man sleeps like an Embryo. his back is so unbelievably fucked up from everything, whether it be his build or his posture, and his sleep is definitely a big wedge. hes as stiff as a rock when he sleeps.

– First thing after waking up headcanons

pre strive: guy who hypes himself up by saying "keep going bitch!" in different accents in the mirror and one day its gonna work. basically just gets dressed, sorts his supplies and gets on his way for another exciting day of Earth

post strive: gets himself a little more leg room, maybe some actual breakfast. its easier to sleep and be comfortable in a bed when you are in a nice place and/or have sleeping clothes and dont wear your dress pants and shirt to bed (xrd).

all the time: he has comical striped old man pajamas with the bauble hat and everything but they only seem to be on when its funny for him to have them. hes an enigma. guy who sleeps in boxers and a big shirt when applicable tho.

– Favorite locations headcanon

faust loves the world AND the people in it, but in my head i always think of him with like. a specific attraction to festivals. maybe its like. this old fanart i saw of him just towering over a traditional festival ground and having all the lights reflecting on him, but i think those kinds of energetic spaces would both compliment his silliness and also give him an opportunity for stillness, in that he can let the world around him keep spinning and laughing and for once, simply bask in it. that kinda stuff.

preference of communication : My ims are messed up a bit sometimes, especially on my main blog because I hardly ever get a notification there, but I don't have a preference. Discord or ims work, discord is probably the quickest to reach me.

most active muse :  It changes daily and changes based on my mood, but usually Astrid, Sean, Cassie or Lydia, & Hewlett. Varric is the more active da muse, but my muse is really slow with that fandom for some reason.

experience / how many years :  In the tumblr rpc since 2018, I've been roleplaying since I was 10.

best experience : There are too many for me, honestly, but I think one of my best experiences are with Hewlett's threads, my ship dynamics over the years (like how Lilith/Jacob have been together for around 4 years, it makes me feel old lmao). But basically, I have too many to claim one as my overall best experience.

rp pet peeves : Force shipping, not giving me much to work with in a reply, not communicating. I don't have too many rp pet peeves, honestly.

plots or memes :  Memes? I do like plots, but usually for a first interaction memes are easier. But I don't mind either way. I like both my plotted and meme-centered threads and interactions. Plotting tends to give me a better idea of where a thread is heading.

long or short replies :  Lately, short replies since I'm slowly easing into writing again and long threads weirdly overwhelm me when I'm easing back into writing. But I don't mind either one. Usually, I end up writing a lot in a reply anyways lmao.

are you like your muses : I have multiple muses, but I think I have a piece of myself in each one. I think it's hard to not have that occur when you are writing a character, especially ocs. But my muse type is kind of complicated: I usually go for muses that are not like myself or are just interesting to me in general with their perspective.

For what muse I'm most like, it has to be Cassie. She isn't a self-insert oc at all, but I think my current predicament in life really resonates with Cassie's character arc. I'm trying to find myself in my early years, I come from parents that sheltered me a lot growing up. (Cassie has a very extreme situation with her parental dynamic, way different from mine other than very small aspects of her sheltering situation). I feel my emotions deeply, similar to Cassie, and I love just as deeply (if not deeper). I'm still figuring out my past, trying to find myself, like Cassie and I'm going in the direction I think is right. I'm also looking for companionship as she strives for. But unlike Cassie, I cannot bottle up my emotions (especially anger and sadness). I'm not as gullible as Cassie is. Cassie is more rigid, polite, and formal than I am. I'm more laid back, especially with speaking. She's also more talkative and extroverted than I am. But Cassie does reflect a few traits I want to emphasize in myself. She's probably the oc and muse I'm most similar to.
