Welp. I'm not looking forward to today.
Last night, someone pulled the fire alarm right when I was starting to wind down. I had to climb down sixteen flights of stairs at 4 in the morning. My legs are still bitching me out for this.
I proceeded to have stress dreams all night about setting up room reservations for my loved ones ... at a Rimworld colony... and getting horrible messages about their grisly demise every time I failed to get them in time.
I distinctly remember at least one person got crushed by stampeding thrumbos.
....probably means it's time to stop playing Rimworld before bed, huh?

Even though the dream is always at my high school theater, I'm always the age I currently am, which only gets weirder as I get older.

Hey, do me a favour and reblog this, I’m trying to reach someone!
Ok, here we go: That dream you had where your teeth fell out? Don’t worry, it’s a stress dream, it doesn’t mean much more than you’re trying to deal with stuff outside your control.

Sure, brain, let's imagine that me and my dad have a shouting match in the middle of the office where we both work for some reason and he denies having ever raised his voice with you before, and all this started because he told you about a new GAME OF THRONES game called THREE CRAB SOUP in which the crabs were ABSOLUTELY HUMUNGOUS and you (a vegetarian) were actually really curious about how the crabs were going to be cooked (it was looking like it was going to be some sort of stone soup situation, as you were in the middle of a group of starving refugees, except for the fact that there were also (and I can't emphasise this enough) ABSOLUTELY HUMUNGUS CRABS everywhere) and while I was trying to play the game Dad asked me how to set it up and I guess I gave inadequate instructions because apparently I failed to tell him he needed to use a specific browser and this b0rked his whole machine and he was VERY MAD even though he was the one who told me about the game in the first place.
He stormed off and then *I* stormed off and he didn't come home and when I had to go back to work again the next day I was suddenly a primary school teacher and I didn't have a lesson plan and my last thought before I woke up was something like, 'I hope it will be OK. I do know more than 11-year olds,' which IMHO underestimates the key challenges of teaching 11-year olds and also overestimates how old primary school children are.
Anyway, that was quite a stressful dream to wake up from, because I was fighting with my dad (not something we do), which is why I'm now on Tumblr and not trying to sleep, but I think the main thing I want you to take away from this post is that the crabs in the GAME OF THRONES computer game called THREE CRAB SOUP, in which an old woman teaches you how to make soup, were ABSOLUTELY HUMUNGOUS. You would not need three if them. But there sure were three dead ones propped up behind her and her cauldron, in which she was gonna teach us how to cook.

Just had a stress dream that culminated in me, Joey from Friends, and @newhologram speed-walking down a busy city street trying to escape from Spiderverse Kingpin who was chasing us on a mobility scooter
What the hell is my brain doing

I had a nightmare about Deltarune...?
Lemme start by saying that "nightmare" for me generally isn't some scary or disturbing stuff. Usually they're more about, like, being constantly and deeply frustrated with the people around me in the dream. Anyone who's heard me bitch about fandom theories can probably imagine how I'd end up having a DR "nightmare," based on that.
So it was about a weird sequel. Tonally it was like... Yu-Gi-Oh, or especially edgy Digimon... kinda in that ballpark. The first part of the dream was me just hearing about this sequel. (and not questioning the fact that we have a sequel despite only having two chapters of the first game) And I was like well this is a bit weird but I'm interested.
Finally I check it out. It's like some "a few years later" college AU level stuff... at first. There's new focal characters but the old cast is around and seems like they'll still be important to some degree.
Then Kris just up and fucking dies almost immediately.
As a big Kris Enjoyer this is immediately upsetting to me. Some friend of mine (not anybody from real life, just made up for the dream) who was talking to me about this show before is immediately and excitedly like YEAH BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING. And it becomes clear why he was so dodgy about talking about any of the original cast.
The whole thing is like this, with the original cast pretty much either dead or stuck in awful situations, while the new major cast members largely take over the plot. And they're just sorta edgelords lacking in depth engaged in some conflict or another. And I'm just like "this is what people have been raving about?"
And rave they do, leaving me feel like a crazy person for thinking this is a massive downgrade in story telling, feeling like it's mostly focused on shock value. Taking wholeass pre-existing developed character arcs, seeming to ask the question "where do those arcs lead them in the future?" And then promptly throwing them all in the trash.
After I woke up, my immediate thought was that it reminds me how I felt about Chrono Cross. Not that I think that's what the dream was "really" all about, but it was a pretty similar collection of complaints. Honestly, within the dream I kinda wanted to try asking people if maybe there's some twist later on involving weird temporal or dimensional fuckery and that the original cast would still be involved somehow in a way that wasn't just bluntly disposing of them, but I never got around to it. Also my brain was making it all up so it's not like the question really matters, heh.
And, uh, that's it. There were other standard dream things, like jumping back and forth between being an audience member and actually being someone in the story. Also at one point when I was trying to talk about my complaints I'd keep getting a few words into a sentence only to get interrupted by somebody over and over, which is a pretty big irl pet peeve of mine.
Which I guess leads me to what I think this dream was really about: my fandom theory pet peeve (in any fandom) of people seeming to jump excitedly on certain ideas just because they carry the most immediate shock value, and not because they're actually terribly well thought-out.
My brain just likes to make itself mad I guess, even when I'm asleep. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

July 25th 2023
I had the most mind bending dream last night. I dreamed that I got fired unexpectedly from the library. They just sent me an email and didn't even tell me the reason. They were just like 'goodbye'. And I was so shocked that I just went home.
And then they needed somebody for the workroom so they posted the new job for it right away. So I applied for it again. And I got my job back but I wasn't sure if it was casual or perm, so I was upset about it and my confidence in the library was shaken.
And I didn't tell anybody about this at all until after I got rehired. And I was texting my coworkers about it in the group chat and we had hired somebody new called Barkley who was already in the group chat. So they were just seeing everyone's shocked reactions.
And all of this felt so realistic that when I woke up I was convinced that it had happened and had to spend several minutes carefully examining every aspect of the dream to decide whether or not it actually was a dream. But now that I remember the Barkley bit I know definitely for sure that it was a dream.

I had a dream that I was hired by a clinic as a doctor somehow without my knowledge but I had to show up for patient appointments anyway. I panicked because I am not a doctor, don’t have a medical liscence, have never taken a single course in nursing or medicine, but I was convinced that if I didn’t accept the job I would be in trouble for fraud somehow. I had a girl come in that was worried about breast cancer, and had to give her an exam which seemed so illegal, but I was as professional as possible and just looked for lumps didn’t find any, and sent her on her way. Immediately realizing I should have been wearing scrubs, gloves, and a mask, I again panicked and rifled through my stuff to find something suitable. I found instead a small terrarium with a leopard gecko and a toad, both starving. I fed them a ton of mealworms and the toad escaped. Suddenly a ton of people came through in Halloween costumes and I found my scrubs… old timey Victorian scrubs that consisted of a floor length blue dress, apron, gloves, and a mask. I went to my office to take my next client but all that was there were two stripper poles and a man I didn’t know dancing on one. I joined him and danced on the other pole

How does nooroo feel about Tom in your villian dad au?
After initial introductions, Tom basically thinks Nooroo is a figment of his imagination and a testament to his mind crumbling from the grief of losing Sabine. Nooroo gets an inside look on what really matters to tom, though

Tom uses the butterfly miraculous not for himself, but for the benefit of his daughter. The vengeance he's trying to take on "Hawkmoth" isn't quite as simple as "you're responsible for the death of my wife," it stems from a very, very different source - which makes Nooroo more sympathetic to helping him.
He's still not thrilled, but, Marinette and Tom are so kind to him, he really can't find it in himself to complain.

ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A KNIGHT...
the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin
this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.
you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.
also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.
⭐ I have a tip jar (ko-fi)!

Recycled Script
I have classes I need to get to, and I’m probably already late for one.  I have printouts on all my classes, but no simple schedule.  My trapper is open on the table, and I’m flipping through pages trying to find where and when each class meets, but that information is surrounded by an enormous amount of irrelevant text.  I’m very nervous, because I’m behind schedule and the people in the room are impatient with me, and so I’m having trouble parsing and retaining what I’m reading.
That sounds extremely specific, but it’s the plot of a sizable portion of the dreams I’ve had during the last two decades.
