Dying To Live (Teaser)

Plot: High school jock Hyunjin wakes up one day buried alive and appears undead… Confused and alone, he limbs around the small town of Forksten, searching for answers. Along the way, he stumbles upon an unlikely ally named y/n.

Hyunjin must grapple with the challenges of his new existence, including the loss of his humanity, while trying to find his true self along the way. Another problem is his constant hunger for brains, but that's not important right now.

On the other hand, Y/n must grasp that a zombie randomly breaks into her house and asks for help. But it wasn’t just any zombie. It was the football captain that was reported missing weeks ago.

Authors Note: I got heavily inspired while watching Riverdale for some reason, but anyway, let me know what you guys think and if I should post the first part of the story <3

Preview:

Hyunjin's eyes slowly flutter open to total darkness. His first thought was that he was dreaming, but as he tries to move his arms and legs, he realises he can't. Panic set in as he tried to push his way out of what he now learned was a small, confined space. He tries to scream, but his mouth seems to be filled with dirt and the more he struggles, the more he feels the weight of something crashing down on him.

Once he realised what was in his mouth and what was crushing him, his breathing became much more difficult, and he started to gasp for air. He had no idea how he had ended up in this situation, but it was clear that he needed to get out before it was too late.

Hyunjin pushes against the dirt with all his might, kicking and flailing his arms. His movements were slow and clumsy, and he felt his strength draining with each passing moment. His chest was tight, and he tried to fight against the darkness surrounding him. Then an all too familiar feeling set in. Suffocation as if he had felt it before…

Just as he was about to give up, he felt a slight breeze blowing through the dirt above him. It was a tiny glimmer of hope but enough to keep him going. He starts to dig frantically, using his hands to claw at the dirt and rocks that are covering him. It was hard work, and he could feel his energy waning again, but he refused to give up as he didn't want to stay in this dark hole any longer.

As he climbs out of the grave, confusion and fear consume him. Looking around, he saw nothing but a dense forest surrounding him. His heart began to race as he tried to piece together what had happened. But as he tried to calm himself down, he noticed something strange. He couldn't feel his pulse, and the spot where he touched his chest was damp with what he soon realised was blood…

Panic sets in as Hyunjin grasps that something is terribly wrong with him. He doesn't know where to go, nor does he know anything about who the hell he is or what he has become…

author's note/s: requested by a dear friend of mine (to keep my writing streak up). completely off the top of my head, haven't had the chance to edit this. let me know if i missed anything!

I liked to know how things worked. Knowing how they worked meant knowing how to fix them when they were broken.

I liked fixing things.

There's nothing that gives me so much joy when I bring the kids' old toy back to life— there were only so many to go around in the orphanage—or having the dishwasher start up again after the nuns had complained of it breaking down.

Felix was the guy who lived next door to me after I finally moved out of the orphanage (they'd seen me trying to help fix a kid's broken leg and decided it was better they take care of it and that I left). He was a funny guy, a decent one, except he was too difficult to read. He was a bright fellow, really. I guess I was naturally drawn to him because he saw the world in some light that I didn't. I figured that's what growing up an orphan feels like.

Felix didn't know anything about fixing things though.

"Chan," he'd call me in the middle of the day. "I'm really so sorry to bother but my car broke down this morning and the other neighbors said to take it to you before the shop, said the shop might rip me off or something. Would it be okay if I asked you to come down and take a look? I'll compensate, I swear."

"Nah, it's all good bro," I reassured him. "I'll head there right now."

Sometimes he'd call me for the simplest things like broken door knobs or a stuck sink. I'm happy to help, of course. I'm not really doing much. He treats me to pizza after. Sometimes we go to the movies. He buys me stuff, like the black hoodie I always wear to work. He's a sweet soul like that. I'd say we were close enough to be really good friends.

It was in the middle of the night when he called me up. It'd been raining so hard. At first I thought he was calling for a leak in the roof or something so I had answered with a very clipped tone. I didn't get much sleep.

"Yeah?"

"Chan, I know it's late but can you come over for a bit?"

His request wasn't anything weird, I've heard him say it a lot of times before, but his voice was. It sounded like it had been trembling. I'm pretty sure I heard sniffles through the other end. Of course, I jerked up and the sleep had bolted from my body.

"I'm on my way."

I arrive at his door in five minutes despite the pouring rain and the fact that I had to pull on a completely different set of clothes— I wasn't going to charge out into the storm in my pajamas. He answers the door quietly and motions me in.

He'd broken up with his boyfriend. I watched as he sat back down onto his sofa, nursing a glass of scotch. He motioned me to sit. Handed me a glass of my own.

"I don't know where it went wrong," he said after we drained the bottle and switched to gin. "We were so happy. I wish I knew where it started to go bad. Now I don't know how to fix things."

I stared at him for a good long minute, taking in everything. I noted his red eyes, his runny nose, the blotchiness on his cheeks. I digested every line of dried tears, the way his throat bobbed whenever he down the drink in his hand. He had been shaking so bad, the encore of endless sobbing before he must've come to his right mind and call me over.

He was right too.

He'd manage to fake it for a long time, behind those smiles and hugs. He was an expert, I'll give him that. A lot of things didn't know they needed help until they broke down, like a computer or a loose screw in the ceiling fan. His eyes had dulled, all the laughter burnt out of his lungs. He just sat there, dejected and mournful like the world had collapsed onto him.

Felix was broken, I realized. And there were so many things to fix.

The alcohol certainly made me woozy but not woozy enough for me to bend down in front of him and place a hand on his knee.

"You know..." I could hear the slur in my words. "I think you need something to help you."

He met my gaze with wide, teary eyes. "You think?"

I nodded at him, giving his knee a gentle squeeze. "Yes, Lix. I think you're a little broken inside. But that's okay. I'll get you fixed up in no time. You just need to trust me. Do you trust me?"

He kept his look on me, slowly nodding. I offer him a smile and ruffle the hair on his head.

"That's good," I told him. "I'll fix you up, no problem."

That's when I smash my glass on the side of his head and everything goes black.

"I'm not fucking around." The man in front of me slams his papers down on the table. His voice bounces across the cramped room. I flit my eyes from him to the mirror in front of me; to the possible more eyes behind them.

"He was your friend, wasn't he?" He wrenches his folder open and whips it to face me. "Why would you do this?"

I stare at Felix's photo in front of me. I shrug. Nothing's wrong with it. I don't understand why he's getting so worked up.

"For the last time, Chan." The man grits his teeth. "Why. Did. You. Do. It?"

I inhale through my nose and meet his eyes, my eyebrows shooting up in question. "He was broken, officer," I say. "I just fixed him up a bit."

"What the hell did you do to his face?"

I look back down at the photo. Felix is staring back at me, grinning from ear to ear. I can still see the lines that I drew on his face. The knife was a little dull but the jagged edges do become of him. He looks like Jack Skellington. He loved that movie.

I shrug again. "He was crying so bad. I just made him smile."

"And his eyes?" He shudders in front of me. I don't understand why. It's extremely hot in this cramped room.

"Oh those? I told you. He was crying so bad so they were so red. I wanted to clean them out and put them back but the stain wouldn't come off." The officer in front of me is backing away, shaking his head at me. I tilt my head at him. Did he want a simpler answer?

I shoot a glance back down at Felix's photo, at his dark eyes, or at least, the dark places where his eyes used to be... after I sewed the lids open since they always drooped over his face.

"They just didn't really look like eyes anymore so I just got rid of them for him."

An headcanon for every Tokyo Revengers character. Some are funny, other are not.

Mikey favorite holiday is Halloween cause he can eat as many sweets as he wants and nobody can tell him shit.

Draken secretly wants to go to a spa with Emma. Draken babysits Toman, Emma takes care of the Sano household and they need to rest. He gets flustered if he thinks about sharing a bed with her or taking a bath together at the offsprings.

Baji feeds stray cats and others animals. Animals are naturally drawn to him for some reasons.

Hinata secretly trains in martial arts to help Takemichi, even though she knew he probably won't let her take part in a fight.

Emma often thinks at how good it would be if Izana lives with them. She wants him to have a family.

Yuzuha listen to heavy metal as a let out of her frustration for living with Taiju.

Senju sometimes wants to be adopted by Wakasa so she won't have Takeomi around and maybe Sanzu would visit her. She also hate Concordes.

It was really hard to get up and go to school, so you told your roommate Chae-Won to tell your teachers and Felix you won't be here, she understood said her goodbye and left, giving you time to rest a bit until a few hours later, you hear some knocking, you wait a few seconds making sure it wasn't any of your imagination until you heard it again, you got up from your bed groaning and open the door only for it to be with your wost nightmare.. Bang Chan, and Lee Minho... just great. Why were the 2 oldest (and the ones you choose to avoid) of the group Stray Kids doing here..? At your dorm too? "Hey, can we talk for a second?" Chan says, trying to be less threatening than he is. You really didn't want too let them in as that feeling sets in again but maybe they wanted to talk about last night, you told them they can take a seat on yours and Chae-Won's couch "We just wanted to talk about what happened with Han and Jeongin" Chan says as he sat down and spoke in the calmest tone.

Your suspicions were true, but it still made your blood cold as shivers went up your spine "Um did Jeongin make it to your guys' dorm?" Did they know? They must have known, right? You doubt Jeongin hid this from his hyungs, and if Jeongin knew exactly how to kill those things, and he knew what that thing was, that must mean they somewhat know too right..? Maybe but your pretty sure that they wanted to know about mainly about Han since hes in the hospital "Im sorry but I wasn't with them when the accident happened" you partially lied, you weren't with them when they got hurt but, you were there when Jeongin killed the monster and after.

"Cut that lying bullshit" Minho's outburst caught you off guard but it was reasonable his boyfriend went into the hospital and the maknae of the group walked inside their dorm busted up with some bandages "I really dont know! I was walking to my car after my job and I heard Jeongin and he was hurt, and he killed this monster with my flashlight" You defended yourself under Minhos stone cold glare, while Chan looked at you with wide eyes "What did the monster look like?" you were hesitant to say anything "well I couldn't see whole but it's had really long arms and claws and it didn't have skin" You talked fast to the point you wondered if Chan and Minho even understood what you said. Your heart was pounding more and more as you stepped closer to the dorm till you were there.

Two knocks. All it took for your heart to start pounding out of its chest, and who opened the door, of course Felix, worse ontop of worse, huh.. "Chan Y/n's here!" Felix gave you a sweet smile and invited you in. You, in return, gave him an awkward smile, and mentality said goodbye to the moonlight as you stepped inside. When you heard Felix closed the door and locked it behind you, your heart stopped pounding. Instead, you felt it stop, and cold sweat formed on your head. You take a couple of deep breaths when Felix takes your hand. "Follow me -" he sighs the contines his speech "-okay, Y/n, stay calm when we tell you all of this. I know it can be a lot to take in, okay? " he squeezes your hand. You kinda calmed down, as Felix led the way you heard the boys talking. "Seriously Jeongin, what were you thinking?" When you saw the dining room, a few members were there Chan of course, Minho, Jeongin, and of course Felix. Jeongin had his head down, apologizing. You felt bad for the younger one. When you walk in, all eyes are on you. It was silent until Chan spoke up. "So, Y/n you know about last night, and we thought it was only fair we told you about it because... your life is in danger.."

What? Your life is in danger? When you were about to let go of Felix's hand, he grabbed it tighter. "What you saw was a Photothesitatic. It's a type of creation of the sound monster. We killed off the rest of the Photothesitatic, and we were looking for the last one.." Your eyes widen."That's why Jeongin was out there, but then what about Han?" You felt Minho's eyes sharpen at you, just as Jeongin spoke up. "I really wanted to prove myself to my hyungs, that I could handle anything, so I convinced Han to join me." Chan sighs he's probably really disappointed. "So then.. how is my life in danger?" You had to ask it. Minho spoke up. "The sound monster targets people aware of its existence in order to get more people to join its little army." He smirks."So basically, you're doomed, unless you agree to our 'terms' of surviving the fucked up town" how could he smile in this situation? "You guys are so strange, hell, maybe even worse." But what choice do you have? "Okay, what are these 'terms' of surviving?" Felix looks at you, then starts talking "Basically just stay close to us, me and Jeongin can protect you! Sometimes Hyunjin." You look at Felix and then the others."So basically, I have to stay with guys all day?" They all nod as you at them in disbelief, "Also sweetheart -" Minho spoke up again "- We're more than strange."

🍂🍁🎃 Autumn-Themed Batfam Fic Reccs 🎃🍁🍂

The season is getting a little colder and the season is turning towards winter. The nights longer and the need for hot drinks stronger. This is my favourite time of year and one that just invites curling up with some reading material. In celebration of my favourite season, I thought I'd recc my favourite autumn vibes Batfam fics.

These fics are all completed and available for free on AO3. They all lean horror (Halloween is fastly approaching! 🦇), with some of them being darker than others. I love horror so that's where I tend to stray. Hope you enjoy! Welcome to Beggars' Bones - Bridgesburn - Length: 143k - Genre: Thriller, "True" Crime, Kidnapping in a Creepy Small Town

"Welcome to Beggars' Bones" is the epitome of what I think of when I think of a perfect story for a bitter autumn night. It reads like an expertly crafted thriller and perfect for those who love a realistic horror story. The basic premise is that Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian are on a road trip when Dick's car breaks down. He sends Tim and Damian to go get help and it goes absolutely horribly from there.

Mind the tags because the story hits on real themes and is intense. It draws to mind movies like "Silence of the Lambs" and "Misery" and makes you think twice about stopping in a small town.

Vrykolakas - @chemical-processes - Length: 34k - Genre: Horror, Monsters, Having Your Son for Dinner

My first recc was horror based in reality and this recc is horror based in all the things that go bump in the night. Timothy Drake is not okay. Timothy Drake is not safe. Timothy Drake doesn't have anyone to tell this to, especially not his parents. Read this one if you love a story about a terrifying monster and are not afraid of some gore. It's a bloody good time.

To Hear, To See, To Smile - @jube514 & @salparadiselost - Length: 8.6k - Genre: Light Horror, Monster Kids, Bruce's Horrifically Fierce Adoption Instinct

Is it too pretentious to recommend my own fic? Perhaps, but I'm not known for my humility. I wrote this fic with Jube and it's perfect for the Halloween season. The loose premise is that Bruce has acquired children in the form of eldritch horrors and he is well on his way of getting one more. Although his children are all monsters, it's on the lighter side.

when doves cry - @silk-scarlet-ribbons - Length: 13k - Genre: Grief, Death, When a Memory is as Fresh and Festering as a Wound

This is one of the ones that's making it in through autumn vibes. It's about grief and ghosts that form immediately after death. It's very psychological and a deep scrape into Tim's grieving head before he even realises he's grieving. The horror in this is slow and it sets in like the decay of a human body. It's so deliciously creeping and will have you shivering even if there's no ghosts except for the one's in Tim's mind. The Little Neighbor - @oberonbronze - Length: 27k - Genre: Horror, Vampires, a Little Grave in the Dark and Mysterious Woods

This one is the newest on this list because, well, it posted as I was making this list and I stopped to swallow it all in one go. This one features one Dick trying to bond with his new little brother, Jason, by exploring the woods behind Wayne Manor. Nothing could possibly go wrong! I would encourage you to read without getting too deep in the tags, because it sets you up for maximum twists. It's a true horror feature that reminds me of Hereditary and Rosemary's Baby, so if you like something along those lines just go in blind! it's life after death (roll the credits) & when the bodies hit the floor - nashequilibrium - Length: 6k & 7k - Genre: Supernatural Horror, Siblinghood, Spooky Stories Told Around a Campfire Two for the price of one! I recommend both of these stories for those who love lighter horror more in the vein of Scooby Doo. Both of these fics feature sibling pairs - Dick & Jason in one and Steph & Damian in the other - investigating some mysterious happenings. These are both fun little romps and the dialogue is excellent.

Finally...

Not quite a recc, but I know a lot of people like to know what I've been up to, me and @spookyprime have been working on a Batman fancomic together and we are about ready to start posting it. It's a medical mystery and a horror story set in 1910s Europe. We will be posting it here: @vivisection-of-a-surgeon-comic .
