I did some thinking about it, and I realized that the new Velma show gave Daphne the Lucy Westenra treatment. In which the makers of a modern adaptation of a pop cultural horror franchise saw a female character who was hyperfeminine and loves fashion and romance and decided that that must mean she's a shallow slutty mean girl while also ignoring literally all other aspects of her original character.

i guess to get into it maverick is not the reason why nope didn’t receive oscar noms it’s a miracle the academy nominated maverick for anything above the line when they notoriously have about as much respect for action as they do for horror, like, the last action blockbuster best picture nominee was Seven Years Ago with mad max: fury road which, like maverick, also had to make stupid money on top of the filming techniques it pioneered and near-universal critical acclaim it received before the academy threw it a bone so the reason why nope didn’t receive nominations isn’t because one movie received a very rare best picture nom as an action blockbuster but because the academy didn’t like how nope made their industry look combined with the fact that none of us will ever love anything as much as the academy loves middling to bad biopics, films that make you want to die, movies no one outside of film twitter has even heard of, and also anything ruben östlund shits out

oh my god also i’m soooo sorry i sympathize with vegeta so much lmao i see some people in a comments section be like “idk why people like vegeta-“ and i’m like shut up and sit down i’m about to tell you why (but also the comment was like in defense of goku during the buu arc and like i get it you know like they are both valid in their feelings at this point. that’s what i love about dragon ball is that there isn’t a clear bad side or good side sometimes. the nuance in the characters if it’s done right makes you see both sides of the story knowing that one of them is going to “win” making it feel more tragic.)

Finally watched the entire Press Conference and the Panel with Harry and Chris and I'm honestly baffled but not surprised at how everything was taken out of context to make dwd out to be a big disaster. It was the same with the red carpet. Sure there's probably drama there but the way things spiraled out because of a desire to put someone down has nothing to do with what was actually happening but small clips that fans spread to support their agenda and then other people interpreted however they wanted. The nature of drama and celebrity has always been intriguing and terrifying but especially in the digital age that we are in today. It's also especially always rooted in misogyny as exhibited here. Anyway none of it is as big a deal as its being made out to be and I cant wait for the movie. Also unfortunately people take all things out of context and remove every nuance from anything and everything.
