Oh! Maureen! (Get Back)
Reading @m1ssunderstanding's Get Back rooftop concert post's Maureen love made me think of an adorable little Ringo moment in the Nagras. Jan 14th at Twickenham — right before the boys go play on the chains — they're doing their normal morning Stoners Circle while the sets for Magic Christian come in and pretending they're going to film a movie about drug dealers. And when Michael Lindsay-Hogg who doesn't partake but is unshakable says, “We needed one girl,” Ringo instantly responds, “Oh! Maureen!”
TONY RICHMOND: Oh, can I be a baddie? PAUL: You are the baddie. The drug— drug peddler. MICHAEL LINDSAY-HOGG [crosstalk]: Yeah, you are a baddie. You almost were a baddie on the- on the train. TONY: Before I get rid of it can I have a joint? PAUL: (cough/laugh) TONY: Can I just try it before I get rid of it? MLH: We needed one girl. RINGO: Oh! Maureen!

so my friend and i are currently chatting about how i just discovered me referring to weed as "pot" makes me sound like a suburban mom even tho i didn't realize it was an "old-timey" term (??? it sounds just as normal as "weed" to me???)
and i just realized the reason i say pot is specifically because 1. watching kids in the hall (and other things from that era) and 2. talking about pot with the kids in the hall (the ones i know irl still use that word)
so for everyone's information i do NOT sound like a suburban mom for saying "pot" i sound like an old canadian gay man!!!!
but anyway that conversation moved on to talking about weed and the kids in the hall and now i must bring a poll to tumblr
(even if you have smoked before this is about placing yourself in the hypothetical situation i'd be in bc i've never been stoned before and my friend and i were joking about how my first time getting high would be with one of the kids in the hall lmao)
also in your opinion is saying "pot" weird???? literally so confusing to me like damn i guess all my interactions with weed are through the lens of 1. media from the 90s or 2. people who were young adults in the 90s

It’s so funny to me when ppl try and hide coughing fits when they’ve smoked weed.. one of my friends is a massive stoner but every time we smoke bongs she throws up it’s so funny and we all support her. REAL STONERS SUPPORT HACKING UP A LUNG AFTER A TOKE OR A RIP 💕

Everyone you gotta make a stoner circle. 5 roles and you can have only 1 duo/trio (EX: ed,edd and Eddy or Mordecai and Rigby) for 1 role. They can be fictional characters/people or real people tol
Dj: snoop dog
Snacks/food: Finn and Jake (adventure time)
Supplier: Gandalf (LOTR)
Jokester: Ted (Ted franchise)
Host: shikamaru (Naruto)
I have reasoning for each.

The sweetest Nagra bits: The backstory to George's awesome boots (AUDIO)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've posted and written a little about this before and wish I would've thought about it yesterday, but if you're like me you're not past your George mood yet, and this is a near-perfect Paul-George moment. (There's an as-good-as-I-could-manage transcript in the post and the clip there contains “I Me Mine” and the tidbit of conversation afterward.)
I really wish Get Back would've kept this bit in. ☺️
Hint: Paul

LOCATION: CHE AND HIS FAMILY’S HIGH END ESTATE
Tumblr media
“DO YOU WANT A HIT?” che extends his perfectly pearled joint out as an offering. his parents had given up on asking him not to smoke in the house when he was in high school. all the private school kids were stoners. he was introduced to his first joint when he was only thirteen. the rest was history. “blazy susan’s are the best rolling papers, I swear by them and they have a cool ass name.” @nottinghillstarters

The Metal You Missed in 2022
Tumblr media
It’s that time of year again. Everyone’s got their own “Best of 2022” list, and by now you can probably guess the bands in the top spots before you even click the links. Don’t get me wrong— I, too, am foaming at the mouth to sing Messa’s praises. But there was a lot of good shit that flew under the radar as well.
Here are 5 doom, drone, and psych releases (in no particular order) that deserved more attention in 2022.
Weightless by Grief Circle
Weightless by Grief Circle
Suggested track: Hollow
Polish doom and post-metal outfit Grief Circle dropped this boulder back in October. The album features a heady mix of clean and growled singing that seems to embody the frustrations and impossible choices of the past two years. Amid a flurry of tempo changes, the band manages to get vicious metal and haunting misery to hold hands and play nice. If you’re looking for something heavy as fuck to ring in a new year, this is it.

Chem-Trails LIVE by Apex Ten
Chem-Trails LIVE by Apex Ten
Suggested track: Tentacles
Attention stoners: are you ready to embark on a sightseeing tour of the cosmos? Masters of psychedelic improv, Apex Ten, have the countdown running and the engines billowing steam. This band is ready to take you from Belgium to the fucking moon. This tasty live album features epic jams, ample use of a theremin, and no tracks under 8 minutes. It’s a journey you’ll want to take again and again. HIGHly recommend.

The Salt Pale Collective EP by The Salt Pale Collective
The Salt Pale Collective EP by The Salt Pale Collective
Suggested track: Charnel Plains/Whore Abyss
UK doomers The Salt Pale Collective have assembled a cinematic masterpiece with this EP. Sometimes the melodies are floating and celestial; other times they writhe through grit and sludge. The band uses a wide range of noise, vocals, and instrumentation to sculpt monstrous landscapes that drip, shimmer, and evolve before your eyes. This EP is captivating and ghastly, and you won’t want to miss a second of it.
.....
Tales of the Astro Throne by Astro Throne
Tales of the Astro Throne by Astro Throne
Suggested track: Caestus of Grief
Prairie doom act Astro Throne brought scorching psych riffs and hideous grooves to 2022. Their album is a dark fuzz-laden fantasy world, populated with fighters, wizards, and sci-fi abominations. Put on your headphones, turn up the volume, and rock out in a decaying world at the edge of your imagination.

Za sad, još nam ne treba... by Zauvijek Hani
Za sad, još nam ne treba . . . by Zauvijek Hani
Suggested track: Civet u lobanji (“Flower in the skull”)
This album knows the secret passcode to my mind. When the first track starts, my skull opens wide, and I am entranced—completely at its mercy. Croatian band, Zauvijek Hani, makes experimental drone doom inspired by the wind. Their unique sound conjures images of the sea, the prickle of salt air on your skin, and the lo-fi buzz of a dusty old radio. Don’t let that fool you... this album is no day at the beach. Despite all of the delicate layering, this album is umbral and staggeringly bleak. Let the non-melody guide you through the liminal space halfway between a dream and a tortured memory. Easily one of my favorite albums of 2022.
