gaza scam warning
Hey gamers, recently there have been a number of scam blogs on tumblr claiming to be Gazan victims. They've been making a number of iterations of the exact same blog and story but with different names and sometimes different PayPal links.
Thus far, the content of these scams are being stolen from 2 real fundraisers. Please lend your aid to these people who need help instead of the disgusting scam farm
Help Haya Orouq's family escape Gaza
Help Rawan AbuMahady's family escape Gaza
These are examples within the past month which have been deleted.

Donation scams on tumblr are extremely common and anyone who has a tumblr account will encounter them at some point. You have likely encountered them before and not realized it. They throw together a brand new blog with a story of needing aid, then use bots to go through follow lists and post notes to send messages to random users. Scambusting blogs like kyra45 do a lot of work to track and call out these scams when they surface.
Scam Spotting Tips
They send an ask often accompanied with a follow despite having never interacted with you before. Ask yourself: How did you find your blog? These interactions usually come out of nowhere when you have no original posts or interests they could've found you through, because they're just going down the lists of random blogs.
They reblog just enough posts to make you think that their blog is in-use when it is actually only a day or a few old. Enable timestamps and try find the blog's oldest post; if a blog seems old but still seems suspicious, be wary of post backdating
They often disable or delete comments on their donation post to hide comments that call them out. Open the notes and see if it says "some replies have been hidden, blocked or removed." Blocked/hidden comments sometimes still appear in reblogs of a post but not the original, so open a random reblog and see if telling comments appear there.
It isn't unusual for the story and the ask to either be exact copy-pastes of each other, or otherwise have very telling suspicious details, such as: using different names, having different goal amounts, contrasting story details, etc. Pay attention to and trust the suspicion of details that stand out as odd.
Like many of the above examples, they often use an automatically generated username consisting of random words
Reverse image searching can be a helpful giveaway if it works, but don't trust it entirely - scammers often steal images from private Facebook groups/profiles or alter the images so that people don't find the source. An image not having a source should also be suspicious, as you should wonder why this person's social media presence is exclusively a 3 day old tumblr blog
When you receive an ask from a blog like this, reporting them for spam or phishing and reporting the PayPal account for fraudulent activity does help get these accounts taken down.
In name of the situation, here are great verified resources to support real people who need help:

I'm putting out a scam warning for the user @/sheeyancjoje, also previously @/sheeyanc @/sheeyancjosie, possibly other urls, who claims to be a homeless & asthmatic trans person living in a tent. I have reason & evidence to believe that they are not who they say they are, that their photos/evidence is stolen, and that they are actually the scammer Laura Deramas, who is likely also running the blog @/destrawberry. They exhibit multiple red flags for typical scammer behavior including the following evidence:
First off, who is Laura? Laura is a scammer who was initially called out for scamming & suspicious behavior in 2021, then with some manipulation, convinced multiple people that she was genuine (including me), then it was revealed once more that she was scamming & doing everything she was originally called out for: including pretending to be multiple different people & then lying more when confronted about it, exaggerating how badly her family apparently needed "help", guilt tripping people into giving her money and then harassing anybody who did give her money & demanded they give her more. & then later lied a bunch more including faking an arrest & faking her own death (& later pretending to be her own sister asking for funeral money, & calling any evidence against Laura being alive "hate") despite the fact that shes still very much alive & has posted on her own social media multiple times after her alleged "arrest" on May 30th 2023, & alleged "death" on June 2nd, 2023. We'll come back to Laura & why all that is relevant in a minute.
First off, Sheeyanc doesn't actually ever provide evidence that proves what theyre saying is true. They say they're homeless and living in a tent, and while they keep showing a tent, how do we know that these photos aren't stolen? How do we know that those photos aren't just from some camping trip, or staged? How do we know they didn't just go take photos of an another homeless person's set up? We don't. They make other claims that they don't provide proof for, such as saying their legs were swollen, but didn't provide photos of this. We've also had a similar tactic of someone else claiming to he "homeless" and "living in a tent" & this turned out to be false.
Secondly, Sheeyanc has been harassing people to send them money, either by going into their dms to beg them and sending people photos to guilt trip them, or even literally telling people to open up their askbox or messages when they were closed specifically so they could do this. Laura was ALSO known to do this to various users, & she would send people unsolicited photos of her child or her family & talk about how much she was "suffering" to get people to feel bad for her, which she ALSO did to me. When she pretended to die, she also randomly sent people photos of her allegedly "dead" body to ask for money, which upset many people. If you go into the notes of this post, there's multiple users testifying in the notes that Laura would regularly pester them for money & send photos. Note that people asking strangers for large sums of money as a "loan" is a big red flag for scammers we've seen multiple times, including Laura. Below is Sheeyanc doing the exact same things listed above that Laura did: sending people unsolicited photos, talking about how much she was "suffering" unprompted, and asking for large amounts of money from individual users. Also notice the similarity in language and tone between Laura doing this & Sheeyanc doing this.
Tumblr media
Thirdly, Sheeyanc blocked the Filipino user who called out Laura Deramas. This Filipino user was the one to discover she had faked her death & photoshopped someone else's death certificate to pretend it was hers. In addition to this, we also know Laura isn't actually dead also because after she'd been called out for this, the user who called her out very mysteriously started getting anon hate in Tagalog. Below is sheeyanc interacting with them just before blocking
Tumblr media
& we know Laura has been known to get sassy & rude with anybody who called her out like here. note the appropriation of aave by itssmelau when confronting people who called her out, just like Laura did in the first callout link with the user lizardamiibo while ALSO pretending to be someone else.
As another major point, Sheeyanc has been seen interacting with another scam blog, @/destrawberry, and verbally encouraging people to give them money. Destrawberry is very likely run by the same person who was running imgonetoofar/imthegonetoofar because theyre claiming to be the same person & using the exact same photos, & before deleting, imgonetoofar was promoting & being promoted by the scammer sassysweetiegirl/zaquaaaablu (who referred to "imgonetoofar as their "friend"), both of whom I called out here. And as I mentioned before, the person behind @/destrawberry is a scammer, either someone who stole imgonetoofar's (another scammer) photos & is pretending theyre recent & to be them, or they're the same person who faked their death and came back again to ask for more money. And who else do we know who faked their own death? Laura lol. So in other words, Sheeyanc/destrawberry/imgonetoofar/sassysweetiegirl are all likely run by Laura pretending to be different people. On the left below is Sheeyanc promoting destrawberry, & then on the right is imgonetoofar promoting sassysweetiegirl in the replies, where you can also see me calling them out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, Sheeyanc's banner is of the New Matina Town square in Davao city, the Phillipines. Davao city is where Laura lives. Here's a screenshotted image just in case they change it, and below, here's a comparison between Sheeyanc's banner on the top part of the image, while the image below it is a screenshot from a video of NMTS in Davao, very near where the banner photo would've been taken, but at slightly a different angle/position. You can tell its the same place because of the little circular green grass section in both of the photos, which is surrounded by a metal fence with the same design, both have the exact same road signs in the exact same place, & both are in front of a yellowish-white building with a second floor & balcony & the same design of roof, with palm trees.
Tumblr media
& heres that same building but at a different angle (at the front). If you google "New Matina Town Square", you get the yellowish white building featured in the photo, and if you reverse image search sheeyanc's banner photo, you still get results for this Town square. Left is Google results, the right image is the Google reverse image results, highlighted in yellow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you want to be more precise, The yellowish building is a restaurant called "The commons at MTS", while the photo would have been taken next to another restaurant called "Taboan". Below is a helpful legend I've created from a Google maps view of the New Matina Square. The highlighted red area is where the banner photo approximately would've been taken, & the yellow area is where most Google search photos are taken at the front of the building. You can see the buildings I've mentioned, & if you don't believe me you can go take a look at Google maps & see for yourself.
Tumblr media
And just so there's no confusion that Davao city is indeed where Laura lives, here's my old reblog of a post that Laura convinced someone to make for her where it confirms she lives in Davao city, as reblogged also by Laura and she was fundraising because of allegedly being affected by a flood there.
So to recap: the user Sheeyancjoje is likely the scammer Laura Deramas due to similar patterns of behavior, such as 1. Vague "proof", 2. Harassment of tumblr users in asking them for money, including sending unsolicited photos and guilt tripping or repeatedly asking for more money from people who already donated, 3. Asking for large amounts of money from individual users the same way Laura did, 4. Fighting with and blocking the same user that called out Laura for faking her own death, 5. Interacting with other confirmed scammers, including another one involved in a funeral scam, like how Laura was, 6. Their banner is literally a photo of Laura's city of residence

Hey!! I couldn’t find your personal blogs but this is the Ghirahim cosplayer from colossalcon 22/Moxxie cosplayer from Galaxycon 22. There‘s a website called lookhuman and I don’t know if you guys run it, but they‘re selling stuff with an art style that looks suspiciously like yours. I just wanted to warn you in case it belonged to you because having your art stolen sucks!
Tumblr media
He looks very much like your Ganondorf, is he yours?
Hey!! We hope you are well! :)
L**khuman was a company I used to design shirts and merch for including this Ganondorf! While there are a lot of other messy details when it comes to the company, I can confirm that I did design this while I was hired as their illustrator. However, they completely own all of the designs so anything bought from there goes to the company and not towards the original artists.
I hope that clears things up!

Donation scams
For pet donation scam information, go here.
What is a donation scam? - This kind of scam occurs when someone is asking for money but isn’t being genuine/honest for why they need it and upon closer inspection you’ll often find out their fundraiser information is stolen from someone else who needs support. For example, the text itself would pull up someone else’s fundraiser that’s posted on another site such as Facebook or Gofundme with names that don’t match up or certain details edited out or added from something else entirely. In a sense, the post doesn’t make much sense or seems to be mashed together from other places. These are scams because money given to them isn’t going towards their goal and also not going to the one who needs it.
Was there an ask sent? - Asks for these scams are varied with no common theme but they usually seem poorly worded and link you to their post which may be pinned. Usually they’ll be sent immediately after following you with no prior interaction even when they call you their friend. Sometimes they’ll say they see you share mutual aid posts too but that’s generally just some excuse they’ll use so you won’t be too suspicious of them. Legit people be warned: Spamming these asks will get people suspicious of you and asking you questions instead. If someone tells you to please limit them, it’s advised you try to. Don’t send these asks to anyone who has stated they don’t like them.
Is the account new? - Another common thing to check is the posting date of the posts on the blog. An account with a massive amount of posts dating across many years is generally a legitimate person if they have several original posts and overall appear to be a person. Unfortunately, scammers tend to backdate posts to make their blogs look older then they may be but rarely have that many original posts. By turning on timestamps, you can see the original posting date in other notes if they have shared posts. Usually the backdated posts are only a few days old but have been made to look years old. What is post backdating? Please refer to this post.
Does the story make sense? - Basically, how well does the story they give sound and does the information it has seem reasonable. Is there anything in it that seems too far fetched to be applicable to a situation? Such as stating they need money for someone’s funeral but the images they supply seem to be photoshopped. Or they have their name on a paper but there seems to be a filter over it which may be obscuring minor details from the original unedited image. You may notice the story also doesn’t give much information out that would be anything important like if a law applies to their situation but they don’t supply a general idea of what country their in. Sometimes the story changes after a few days too.
What else should you do? - If you still can’t figure out if someone’s legitimate, then you may try to nicely ask them questions related to their situation. These questions don’t have to be anything needing personal information; It can request clarity about something your unsure of or further explanation regarding a detail that doesn’t seem to make much sense overall. Most people don’t mind answering these questions as long as your being reasonable and friendly. Most usually will answer you. Unless they ignore you.
What if it is a scam? - Once you have gathered enough resources to confirm the post is by a scam account, it’s necessary to compile it into one place then make a post showing it or show them what you found as well. The scammer will most likely get really angry and deny your evidence and then block you and continue scamming people. Unfortunately it’s suggested to post the information yourself before confronting scam accounts.
Other stuff to look out for? - Asks being spammed; Mass tagging accounts who share mutual aid posts; Replies/reblogs are missing; Harassing people who proved they are scamming
How to report these accounts? - Report -> Something Else -> Illegal content or use -> Phishing
If you like this guide, feel free to check out my blog as I report on these scams nearly daily among other kinds of scams that I post about. If you like my hobby, feel free to drop some pocket change as thanks! However, all I really want you to do is share this post to help me bring awareness of tumblr scams. Send it to people who might not know what a donation scam is or link to it in posts you make! Thanks. Hope this information is helpful!

Tumblr media
Putting this out there for y'all but I'm 99% sure this is a scam.
I'm wary about this kind of stuff since I've heard people run scams like this. Generally I don't blog about this kind of stuff, but if you follow me on Cohost or Twitter, you know I will sometimes retweet people in need -- but I never do it at random, I always try to make sure it is coming from someone I marginally trust or even know personally. Never strangers.
So when a "stranger" approaches me in my tumblr ask box, immediately I go about investigating.
This user's blog passes the first sniff test: a seemingly "real" avatar (not a default shape, not a stolen selfie), there's an actual blog description, and they even have some likes.
Red flag number one: This blog has only made six posts. I have post timestamps turned on, so I can see that all six posts were made on January 31st of this year. Nothing before that date, and nothing after that date.
Red flag number two: Five of those six posts are reblogs (generic animal memes). The only original blog is the pinned post about the supposed cat. No other pictures of the cat, no other pictures of the daughter, no other posts about lifestyle or interests in any shape or form.
Red flag number three: Though the blog has some likes, they only have seven likes, five of which are also the things they reblogged. One of which is someone publicly boosting their message about the supposed cat.
Red flag number four: Tumblr lets you view a blog's following list, so you can see who they follow. This user is following at least two obvious spambots (empty blog, default shape avatar).
Red flag number five: They don't even follow me. How did they find my blog? On what grounds do they think I'd be a good fit to boost their message? I do not signal boost charity on tumblr very often, as stated.
Red flag number six: Their pinned post mentions they "have a paypal" but they're gathering money through some obscure crowdfunding platform I've never heard of ("because gofundme takes too much money out.") I haven't clicked their link, but I did google the site name, and it's some sort of social media profile card service (like linktree) that also lets you raise money. The service lists high profile clients, most of which may as well be fake clip art images for all I know, outside of the Comedy Central logo. Not super trustworthy.
Red flag number seven: "Try to answer this ask privately." Why? Because it's obvious this is all super suspicious?
Nobody wants to be heartless, which is exactly what this message is built to prey upon. If this person's cat is real, my heart truly goes out to it, because I've lost many pets over the years. Some of which had their health decline so rapidly they literally died in my arms as we were rushing to the vet emergency room. I've been more emotionally wrecked by some pet deaths than people I knew.
So I don't want to inflict that on anyone.
But the red flags are overwhelming. This person is not to be trusted. Be on your guard with what you share, folks.

i don't understand if this is one of hoelys-blog sideblog or if you know him personally but in case you're in good faith i should warn you that that person is an art thief and a scammer. he's been using stolen art even on their commission posts you liked.
Shit, I knew it! 🤦‍♀️ I was suspicious of him, but I still trusted him and in the end I was scammed for €30! Thank you so much for warning!
He asked me in ask if I wanted comminsion and I agreed…
Tumblr media
These are his blogs: hoelys-blog and kawaiibasementsublime. He blocked me in his side blog. First I didn't know why, but yeah I see that suspicious...
I took all screenshots of our conversation, but for now I censored his name and e-mail, because I don't want to go into doxxing).
Here's my first full conversation with him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although he wrote in his "commission page" that it is only paid through PayPal and only in USD, I paid through Wise in euros, because PayPal did not work for me. Plus he told me to send it in Philippine pesos. Hell, he offered me 70$/€ for the full body! Good thing I refused!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Tumblr recommended his main blog and I immediately thought he was a scammer. Although he assured me it was his main blog. That was the last conversation in his second account and then he blocked me. But we still wrote in his main blog.
Here is full conversation with him from his main blog:
Tumblr media
He was fucking begging me for more money to buy new shoes... -_-
I did some research and found the original authors of the artworks:
Tumblr media
The original artwork was created by @soyochii
Tumblr media
The original artwork was created by KrisBudarina on Redbubble (if they are on Tumblr as well, please tag them)
Tumblr media
The original artwork was created by @chibigohan
Tumblr media
The original artwork was created by kkugvw on Twitter (if they are on Tumblr as well, please tag them)
In conclusion, how to recognize who is an art scammer (what you have to do):
Scammer asks for commissions in your ask/message - delete it and block this person
If they're promoting "their" art - do research of the artworks to make sure if it's really from them
They rush you and ask when you have to pay
They give you offers for other commissions before buying it, I've decided that
Emotionally manipulative (like they need to buy something or pay rent)
Please share this post and support real artists! And report both his blogs for art theft and scamming!
I want to apologize for being such a fool… I hope this is how I redeem myself… I lost €30, which will never be returned to me from my honest work, but I'm glad I'm not that stupid, that I could spend more money. I've never requested a commission before, so I tried it, but after this experience I never want any commissions ever again.
I'm not mad, just disappointed… 😞
Please take care and be safe!

little facts about isabelle, my 2012 tmnt oc whom i love very very much
(these are both angsty and fluffy)
@queen-with-the-quill @maddys-nerd-blog
monopoly is her favorite board game but she gets far too into it (she and raph almost broke up during a game and it was banned for a month from the lair)
splinter refers to all the girls as his daughters, and the first time he called isabelle his daughter she cried
seeing as she basically raised herself, isabelle has a lot of trouble admitting when she needs help, like one time she got the flu, and she didn't tell anyone, and donnie ended up finding her almost passed out in the lair and almost had a panic attack
xever is TERRIFIED to even acknowledge their past and literally avoids her like the plague. isabelle is so close to just challenging him to a spar and getting it over with so they can be friends because she actually doesn't hate his presence
the one time she and tony got into a serious fight, he was so upset that he ended up accidentally calling isabelle his bio sister's name. they didn't speak for a week until leo and raph pushed them into a room, and they both just started crying
isabelle and tony steal each other's clothes, but half their clothes are stolen from raph and leo, so the four of them just have a rotating wardrobe and have forgotten what clothes originally belonged to who
ngl she has major abandonment issues since her mom died when she was a kid and her dad was barely around so hehe separation anxiety is ✨fun✨
isabelle loves april but karai IS her best friend in the entire world, they had a Big Bonding moment after the shredder was taken down, and it is illegal to separate them, they are platonic soulmates
she and leo are also super close due to the fact that ofc he's dating her brother and she's dating his
leo was at first a little suspicious of raph and isabelle's fast friendship, and when he tells her that after they've become friends she looks at him, gestures to her entire 5'2 glasses-wearing book-reading anxiety-riddled self and just stares at him in disbelief while raph nearly passes out from laughing so hard
anyways she's my beloved <3

Do you want tea? I'll give you tea anyways.
So, back in I don't know maybe March or something, the fandom that person was in had a big plagiarizer and ironically they were one the persons who gained semi popularity after helping expose the first plagiarizer.
A few months back, this saturnsatnin person stole an Elvis Presley fic from wattpad, right down to the notes 💀. So when the original author got wind of this, they told Lying Dumbass (let's call them the plagiarizer LD fn) to take it down. And LD's excuse was something along the lines of 'I can't, I wrote this, I didn't steal' and 'someone anon messaged me the entire detail of the stolen fic, from word to word , right down to the notes. I just wrote what they sent, it's not my fault :('.
They were exposed for stealing more people's fics.
Then they finally admitted that they stole the artwork from the original author's wattpad story, after denying that they didn't see it or even hear of what wattpad is 💀
Then they created a fake account to steal their own fics they had written before, send details about their own fake account stealing their own fics to others. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people didn't believe them.
Then they decided to leave Tumblr and give their account to someone they met online and that person is saturnsatnin now, allegedly (which I am bit suspicious of because who is this generous? But that's my opinion)
So yeah, this person or account to be frank, has always had the tendency to steal from other people, block them and make lame excuses when they are exposed.
If you want to look it this account's previous plagiarism, I think their previous @ used to be lettersfromvenus. And also keep an eye out on their bestfriend because this 'Anj' or whatever their name is, has excused their bestfriend's lying, stealing behavior before despite the evidence. I don't think it's too farfetched to assume that a person who is willing to be bestfriend with an exposed plagiarizer, is a plagiarizer themselves. (Side note: they are still defending the LD on their blog 💀 )
I hope you are doing well and lots of love to you 💗
(And if I accidentally end up sending this without anon, could you hide my name if you decide to answer this? I don't want them, their bestfriend or their minions to harass me)
Ur all good nonnie hehe ur identity is safe 🥰 yeah this whole situation is extremely odd and unsettling and with all of this additional information it's definitely getting worse 😂 people like that won't change either, I'm like 90% sure saturn is a minor because the whole situation and response has felt very childish and juvenile but idk... this is so so icky
thank u for reaching out bby ily!!! pls take care <3

OKAY OKAY SO I have some inconsequential thing I noticed about Tumblr Live that’s probably conspiratorial as hell and making a mountain out of a mole hill but
Tumblr media
Like the weird little numbers guy I am, I’ve been keeping tabs on Tumblr Live by recording all the URLs that pop up as “currently live”, then snoozing the feature and checking out the blogs on desktop. I’ve been mentally referring to it as a “census” and am trying to get some info down on what kinds of people use the feature, like their post types and when their earliest post comes from.
Currently, I’ve got 126 unique URLs listed. I was hoping to uncover a conspiracy, but what data I have isn’t too exciting. I haven’t sorted it too well because I’m not a professional, either.
At a quick glance, it’s clear lot of these blogs are just weird wannabe influencers with selfies for icons that only post/reblog aesthetic posts all day and have no personal posts - which is weird for an influencer, and extremely unengaging for the majority of Tumblr users - and on the rare occasion they do have an original post, it’s either an image clearly stolen off Google, some melancholic vague poetry, or just a vague “I’m going Live!/Thanks for coming!” announcement with a gif that matches their aesthetic... and while a good half of them seem weirdly recent, another significant portion seems to be really old by Tumblr standards, but again, it’s nothing revolutionary, I think we all kind of expected that.
Until... something that just happened.
I’ve been seeing a lot of repeat names, obviously implying that there just really isn’t anybody using the feature or that these complete nobodies are somehow “trendy” to the literal 1% of users that interact with the feature.
One URL that popped up today was, “pga-uncultured-koba-getbizzy-tv”. I recognized it from last week... or so I thought. As I entered my data into the spreadsheet, autocomplete tried to input “pga-brokevip-tv-pga-loca”.
“Hmm!” I thought. “I guess they changed their URL for some reason!”
But then the same thing happened. Another URL that stuck out to me today was made up of the two words “acid” and “flora”, with an odd repeating letter for the aesthetic.
As I typed “aciiidflora” into my spreadsheet, however, I didn’t get an autocomplete recommendation. That was odd, unlike the PGA thing, I could’ve sworn I had that URL down... and it seems I did.
As “acidddflora”.
Now I was suspicious, so I actually decided to check the URLs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These were exactly the same person, posting very similar impersonal “wholesome, silly” content, with the exact same title and similar URLs, and they seem to both be currently active, with one last posting on the seventh and another on the sixth (of February 2023).
So... what’s going on? What’s the point of streaming on two similarly-named accounts with similar content at the same time? You’re just dividing up your fanbase if you wanna be an influencer, and most people make separate blogs just to separate their content by interest. Of course, some users here are fickle and move/change URLs frequently, but... In addition, wouldn’t this require two unique emails tied to create two separate accounts? I know you can’t send asks from sideblogs, so can you go live from a sideblog?
Just in case, I decided to search both URLs to see if there was anybody replying to any of them or bringing this sort of stuff up. I only found one post... from “acidxflora”, on January 7th of this year.

I'm not sure if you answered this before but how do I know if a donation post is legit because to me they have been all looking the same (no shade to actual people that need donations)
Here's some of the big ones that appear most often & are some tell tale signs of a scam, that should be taken in together (aka, having only one of these things won't automatically mean it's a scam, it should have multiple of these on the checklist).
The blog is new. We're talking like under a week old. Go into their archive, & check for how long their blog has apparently existed. If its been apparently made in like a year or two or under, and/or their blog seems to be somewhat active but their posts are scarce (like say, it says their blog was made in January 2022 but their archive shows like 3 posts every month), then that's suspicious. Blogs that have only been in existence for a few days or a week or two are the most obvious to snuff out, & are most likely scams, but the ones that have seemingly been active for longer could be backtracked & people assume they must be genuine
^their blog is backtracked. What backtracking is, is when you can edit posts on your blog to appear at a certain date that you choose (often older than they actually are), & they'll show up in your archive to the date you edited it to. Scammers do this because people caught onto the fact that most scam blogs were very new & suddenly started asking for money, so now they backtrack to make their blog look older than it actually is so that people will think it's genuine. How you can check is by turning on dash dates for tumblr posting, looking at their reblogs to see what date their rb was posted, & then comparing it to the date the original post was made & what date the person they reblogged from had reblogged it. If the suspected person's reblog is somehow older than the original post was made, its been backtracked. Notes also aren't affected by backtracking, so if they apparently reblogged something last year, then the note for it shouldn't be showing up super recently.
Their blog is very unpersonalized, generic, not very diverse, & almost looks like a bot, even if the blog description may look convincing. Scammers have taken to stealing or copying/mimicking blog descriptions from real users on here to look more genuine, but the rest of their blog almost looks like a bot. What I mean is, if in their description they'll say they like cats or own a cat, then most of their blog will feature posts about cats. Or if they say they're gay, then most of their blog will feature posts about being gay. There's very little diversity in posts or that show a multifaceted personality to the blog, & this is usually because they just went into the tags for whatever persona they're faking for the scam (often to try match up with any info they've stolen or fake stories they've made up for why they allegedly need money ) & reblogged a bunch of posts to make their blog look more genuine. This may also include lack of personal posts that showcase their political opinions, media opinions, fandom interests, personal life (outside of apparently venting for, again, allrgedly why they need money), interactions with other users, etc. Most real users on this site will have varying posts that showcase all of these, but a blog that lacks all this who's main activity is suddenly asking for donations usually means its a scam that was set up to try look genuine
They're fundraising for a pet. Usually a dog or a cat (these are the most common ones, the pet scams are more common than the human ones). Common alleged "illnesses" in these scams are a "blood parasite" or broken bones. Often the proof photos will be very graphic & not tagged for gore etc
If they're not fundraising for a pet, & if it's for a human, usually it's either allegedly very sick children (often babies or toddlers), or the elderly. There's a common scam going around multiple times over a period of time where someone will claim they need money for someone sick, the sick person "dies", THEN they'll say they need money right this second for alleged funeral costs or some other wild claim that either the body will be withheld from them or be dug up if they don't pay the funeral home immediately (neither of which are legal nor standard practice), or something like that
Anon or asks in general, messages, and replies on the post are turned off. If you go into the replies & see the notification that "some replies may be hidden", then it's likely somebody already expressed suspicion of the poster or called them out, & so their reply/reblog was hidden & the op blocked them.
They sent you an ask to reblog their post, but asked you not to answer the ask or to answer it privately. This on its own it's always suspicious, since I've seen genuine users do this as well, but scammers in particular will do this because they like to copy+paste asks multiple times & use the same or similar script for different scams & across different scams blogs. Copy & paste their ask into tumblr search, you might find results where they're already being called out, OR evidence where they used the same ask for a different blog pretending to be a different person for another scam. That's why they ask people to answer privately; because it's harder for people to snuff them out.
Inconsistent information. Look at the info & "proof" photos in the donation post closely & compare them to the others, & the given information. Then go and look at any other posts or "updates" theyve done on the situation. Does it all match up? Are there inconsistencies? Is some evidence theyre allegedly trying to give missing? Is something edited out of the photo that seems like it didn't need to be (like the date of a document cropped off, or someone's face when they're trying to prove its themselves)? Half the time the "proof" photos don't actually prove anything the post claims, & the scammer is betting on people not taking a closer look. Many scam posts are also made hastily & might be copy-pasted from either previous scams or stolen info from genuine fundraisers to look more credible, but will have inconsistent info from being put together so quickly. **
(^in connection to the above as well:) One big one is that they might give "proof" of medical or vet documents, but the name on the document doesn't match with the name on the paypal info, & they might say "we" or "us" to imply theres a second person, but won't say why the person on the document isnt directly recieving the money. Like if they say they're fundraising for their adult sister's medical bills, the names don't match up, & they dont have a reason for why the adult sister isnt fundraising for herself.**
Their paypal name or alleged name is the same or very similar to one of the known scammers on the scammers list. These scammers will use multiple paypals across different scams while pretending to be different people, sometimes impersonating real people who may or may not have done genuine donation posts before. See the blog @kyra45 to look at the named scammers list, & if they used one of the names, it's a scammer.
Under the readmore I'm going to get into detail about inconsistencies & give examples (in blue regarding the **), as well as some other signs that are a bit more minor, but may very well indicate someone is scamming (again, should be taken in with the rest of the above)
:readmore:
** More on inconsistencies: Some common mistakes/inconsistencies are say, fundraising for a male dog but sometimes using she/her pronouns in the same post as using he/him pronouns for it, the people or animals look different in different photos (one scam alleged they were raising for a 1 year old child & then proceeded to show photos of a child that looked 4-5 years old in one photo & like a newborn in another), or they'll say they're fundraising for a dog but give photos of a cat, they'll say they're fundraising because of a house fire but their house photos shows no evidence of fire damage. Another scammer alleged they were homeless & living in a tent, but gave a "proof" photo of an empty landscape with no tent in sight (so it didn't actually prove they were homeless, or that they were living in a tent, or that it was THEIR photo, & the photo could've been taken anywhere). Sometimes the evidence isn't as obvious, like once we determined a scammer was using photos stolen from someone American because the "proof" photos they gave featured the wrong type of electrical outlet (an American one) that wouldn't be available to where they alleged to be located in. Another time I managed to snuff out a scammer because they alleged to be fundraising for a sick child in the hospital & gave photos as "proof", & in the background it featured a phone number of the hospital the people in the photos were located in, & I managed to figure out the photos were stolen because the hospital number was located in the United States, but they claimed they weren't American nor recieving treatment in the U.S, & their paypal used British Pounds. & that's another big one, where they'll say they're from one country but then their paypal currency will be automatically set to a different country.
Some other small indications:
They get defensive when asked for more solid evidence & refuse to provide any. This one can be a little tricky though, since genuine users get accused of scamming all the time, & it'd be understandable if they'd react with annoyance. Take this one in specifically when the proof they provided doesn't actually prove anything and/or it looks like the info may be stolen
Overfamiliarity in asks when asking people to reblog their posts. Things like calling you pet names (like "bestie", "sweetie", "darling", etc) or acting like you're close even if you've never spoken. This is one because its become a trend in scam asks lately
They followed your blog quite suddenly & then asked you to reblog their posts. Scammers do this to keep tabs on people to get them to reblog their scam posts. If you recieve a bunch of followers like this, & they all have a kind of similar way of speaking & meet some or all the other checks above, then it's probably the exact same scammer sending you multiple asks for different scams.
If you donate to them even once (or if you've seen other people experience the following), they'll continually keep coming to your inbox/dms to keep asking you for money, even if you insist you don't have much money to give or can't give anymore. Scammers harass people who have given them money because they hope they can get more out of you.

#Free online virus scan mac free#
It’s available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, so none of your devices will be left out in the cold-and it won’t cost you a penny! Here’s why hackers hate it:
#Free online virus scan mac free#
The backbone of any online security strategy is a trusted, independently verified antivirus, like Avira Free Antivirus. Technology may compromise our security, but it also provides the tools we need to help keep our digital lives safer and our data secure. Yes, anti-malware can be both effective and free
#Free online virus scan mac how to#
Know what to look for and how to shield yourself from COVID-19 vaccine scams with this handy blog. Cybercriminals often exploit real-life tragedies like the pandemic to scam people. Do you click on it to book that long-awaited jab?You may end up getting only a dose of malware. Other apps may mine your data and send it to a remote server.Ī COVID-19 vaccine reminder from your local health service arrives via text message.
#Free online virus scan mac download#
Always keep your operating system updated and only download official apps.
#Free online virus scan mac password#
Did they mean to send that message? Just because your mobile is password protected, doesn’t mean it’s inaccessible to others. Do you click on it?Ĭheck that your friend has not been hacked first. You’ve just received a WhatsApp from a friend, with a link. Ads and posts may be a potential malware delivery vehicle. Is it worth the risk? Social media is teeming with click bait. Look, it’s Kim Kardashian doing…what? Do you click on the Facebook video? Also, be careful of copycat websites and fake (phishing) emails that pretend to be from your bank.
#Free online virus scan mac software#
Banks may be careful with their security, but what about the loopholes in your system? Is all your software up to date? Connecting to unprotected Wi-Fi can expose your personal information to cybercriminals. Would you use online banking because your bank has state-of-the-art security? Bogus sales can trick you into paying for something you’ll never receive, or your credit card and bank information may be stolen. Yes? You could infect your device with malware by clicking on malicious links or surfing on an infected website. You do a Google search for a bargain and a great deal appears in the search results. Put your digital habits to the test with our quiz and explore the consequences of a single careless click. Prevention is better than a cure: Don’t be a hacker helper It spreads via emails, websites, downloads, direct ‘vectors’ like USBs and…you! Do you look before your finger leaps to that link, email, or attachment? Read on to explore whether your online behavior makes you a hacker’s best friend. Ransomware encrypts a hard disk and won’t release the data until a ransom is paid. 2020 saw a 40% surge in global ransomware, which is a particularly lucrative e-weapon. It helps these security pros grow their endless database of nasties.ĭid you know that the AV-TEST Institute registers over 450,000 new malicious programs every day? Also consider these stats from the Norton cybersecurity threat review: From 2015 to 2018, there was a 680% increase in fraud transactions originating from mobile apps. Submit suspicious files to the Avira Virus Lab here. Worms are stand-alone applications that wriggle between systems by themselves, and don’t need an unsuspecting human helper to connect their device to an infected one. They then collect data or delete important information. They look like real programs, tricking users into opening them. When a device meets an infected device (e.g.: through open Wi-Fi networks or a USB flash drive), it too becomes infected. Meet the three usual malware suspects: Viruses spread by replicating themselves. They can then use your identity to access online stores and go on a shopping spree! Some malware can even log your keystrokes to give cybercriminals your login details. It aims to disrupt your system or to give cybercriminals access to your data and bank accounts. Malware refers to ‘malicious software’ that secretly installs itself on a computer to harm the user in some way. Is your online security and privacy the real-world equivalent of standing at an open window, at night, with the curtains open? Are you an unwittingly helping hackers, and what steps must we all take every day to shut those virtual curtains? On the Dark Web, cybercriminals peddle illicit programs and stolen data. Yet beneath the glittering façade of e-shopping malls and Instagram filters, lies a shadow world, where malware and online scams lurk. The digital devices on our desk and in our hands offer endless usefulness, fun…and a possible doorway to our data and private lives. Thank heavens for Amazon Prime! And, oh look, is that a video of a dancing goat? We’re always online and always distracted. You scroll through your emails, before remembering that you need a last-minute birthday gift. Are you a typical digital “citizen X”? From gaming to box sets and groceries, our every need and whim is catered for online.

Just a simple look at what makes me suspicious of jenniferpss. This isn’t a call to go harass them or bother them I’m just stating my concerns they ignored in order to tell me I’m attacking them with my questions.
1. They tagged users who have been personally affected by Laura Deramas is the past. A brand new account wouldn’t know who these blogs are unless they have heard of them prior. Even then, why tag them?
2. They may have originally said in their post (or somewhere on their blog at some point) that it’s illegal to be gay/trans at their location but if they live in America this just isn’t true. While there is laws in some states that negatively impact such, you wouldn’t spend years in jail for just being gay/trans. More so if your a resident of Massachusetts.
3. Their claiming to be European but in America for healthcare. If you know the states, healthcare here is expensive. I know some may do it for reasons but stating your European is kinda pointless if it doesn’t really play a part of anything.
4. They said they use Facebook pay since some people use it. I’m sorry but in my 11 years of tumblr experience I’ve never seen a single blogger ask for people to pay them on Facebook pay. It requires a payment option via messenger and would need you to have an account.
5. Their whole story doesn’t really add up much at all if you examine it closely taking into consideration that they are an European living in America. Originally their post said they had a screenshot of an email but there is no such thing.
6. The images are entirely selfies that may be stolen from somewhere else and are clearly not the same person.
7. Messaging users who share their post. Sharing someone’s post isn’t an open invitation to send messages asking for tons of money on the spot. Laura was known to do this and also send sensitive images without being prompted to.
In conclusion, jenniferpss could be a scammer but I’m not saying they are. I am not attacking them. I simply had questions and they did not answer them within reason. They simply came to my blog to try and argue with me about how I’m attacking them just because I asked them about something in a public setting.
If you received a DM from them after sharing their post and are comfortable with sharing it, please do so I can provide proof they are messaging users.

Pet donation scams
What is a pet donation scam? - This kind of scam is most commonly done with cats though on occasion a dog is used. When someone is doing this scam, they have went on a private group or public site and saved the post there such as it’s images, story, and the owners name. The scam is that when they repost it to here, they have edited out any real fundraiser method and replaced it with their own fraudulent one. They don’t actually own the cat/dog but have copied the real fundraiser just enough to pass it off as their own pet. Nothing in the post tells you it’s someone else’s pet as they really want you to trust them enough to send money without looking too much into it. While the images and story are legitimate, the other information has been purposely removed. Nothing given goes to the animal in need.
Was there an ask sent? - Commonly found by asks that are sent requesting private answers. Recently, these asks tell you they don’t want people thinking you was pressured into sharing the post and people might be weird about it. Really, they just don’t want people seeing your answer when the ask is searched because you’d see how many others have got it and may have called it out. These asks are designed to guilt trip you and shame people who call them out but usually gives it away their not being honest since no one would ask you something like that. You might get this ask by sharing a trending/popular post.
How much content is on the account itself? - When checking the blog out that sent you the ask or has the post shared by someone you follow, keep in mind how many posts the account has overall. Usually there’s only a few trending/popular/fandom posts shared and then the pinned post itself. Their archive is usually turned off so you can’t see this; But scrolling for a few minutes should mean you’ll find the last post quickly. Turning on timestamps should also show you the posts were all shared at the same time too and they don’t have any tags either.
Have you asked them questions? - If unsure of the account’s legitimacy, I suggest asking them a few questions about the pet: How long have they had them? Do they have older vet records of past visits? Can they show you a recent pic of them holding their name on a paper near the cat? Would calling the vet itself be possible for donating? Any of these would be answered easily by someone who actually owns the pet. But those who don’t own them won’t be able to answer or properly.
What is a quick way to spot this scam? - Check the date of the pinned post. It’s usually only a few hours old, a day old, or even a week old. Another way is searching the bio to see if it’s been stolen off someone else. Look at the vet location and then press/hold or hover over the link they give you. If the country doesn’t match the state, it’s likely not the real owner of the pets link. As these suspicious accounts tend to impersonate the actual owners closely in order to look legitimate.
What to do once you figure out it’s a scam? - Warn anyone who doesn’t know it’s a scam and has shared the post unless they’ve called them out. Report the account for phishing (Report -> Something else -> Illegal uses or content -> Phishing), block them, then alert your followers as well. Keep in mind scammers will always delete/hide any replies/reblogs that have called them out.
To report scam posts, the original way was this: Report -> Something else -> Illegal uses or Content -> Phishing
This guide is from my other account, but I’m reposting it here as a backup. If you found this guide useful, please let me know and share it to your friends.

ART THEFT ALERT - ASK-THE-SHARPS
Okay so... normally I don’t like. DO callouts, but someone came to me about this, because he wasn’t sure what to do and if he would even be taken seriously if he DID say anything, so I’m organizing this FOR him. Please bear with me, this is going to be very long.
So, I’d been notified that ask-the-sharps has been engaging in like. Actual art theft? Like outright tracing other’s art and also wholesale “i am passing this entire artwork of someone else off as my own” art theft.
But also seeing as Altar is SELLING commissions, it should probably be noted that… He’s tracing? Thats important. Even one of the drawings in his commission sheet is traced.
And he’s not even stealing from small name artists either, he’s been tracing artwork of artists like princecanary and thewickwheat and reiki-kun (on devART)
Now i would like to not that wickwheat DOES allow referencing of her art as long as it’s used only privately (a link to her TOS/FAQ) (princecanary and reiki-kun do not) but she REQUIRES CREDIT for the referencing, EVEN IN PRIVATE, which Altar did NOT do And of course, I would never make such claims without proof so here we go! I am going to link all images separately at the end in a drive if you would like to see them more fully.
So it’s worth noting, most of the discord screenshots are not mine, they were given to me by a friend to use for this post, because he’s not comfortable making the post himself at this time, but will not be censored because he’s okay with it being public.
Now these things aren’t in order except in order that they were brought to my attention The first thing I was told about was Altar tracing and passing off as his own, an auction design that Reiki-Kun made and sold on patreon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s worth noting, this trace over is done in Altar’s “style” of coloring. This could not have been made by someone else. My friend is a patreon of Reiki, and was suspicious! And he was right! This was a design he saw posted by Reiki!
Tumblr media
(Original adopt listing) When confronted about it, Altar played it off as “someone sold me this?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend was still suspicious but he was willing to let it go, but he brought it to another friend, who brough it to me and another friend and we were able to find the character’s toyhou.se.
the character’s toyhouse // this is a link to the ownership log
This character has never been sold to anyone BUT the person who bought it.In fact, the designer has a masterlist of designs they’ve sold FOR this reason! masterlist link // Reiki’s TOS
MORE UNDER CUT! WAY MORE. SO MUCH MORE.
My friend has since reached out to the artist to notify them of the theft
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which is why I’m including this first and foremost. (the link is the masterlink link above!) So this was already very suspect! But believe it or not! It gets worse!
Altar has been sharing “art” of his characters which is clearly and notably traced
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original tweet link
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original post Please note that the name is edited out of the original sheet presumably to keep people from looking her up, but he… keeps the name anyway?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original post This one was someone else’s COMMISSION done by the original artist! The signature is removed!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original post! Another commission! With the signature EDITED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!! Implying that Altar MADE THIS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theres genuinely so many of these stolen that I cant show their originals so I’m just linking those I could find. )i could not find the first couple but here’s the rest in order. (Headlock) (shoulder pads) (bloody sketch) (could not find this one) (Crossed arms) (punch)
These don’t belong to wickwheat, but a friend of wickwheat’s who did not have a tracing/referencing TOS that i could find, except that they should ASK to use their art, presumably with credit (which was not given)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orignal post This one he traced from the smaller reference, if we were wondering, of Jane’s oc. And in these screenshots claimed as his own art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original post, please note it IS at the bottom. There were several others I was shown that were clearly traced or otherwise stolen but I couldn’t source the artist and therefore couldn’t prove it.
Tumblr media
However, during my digging I WAS able to find more instances of tracing.

One instance of which is from two of my friends, Apollo and Wren, who are still IN the fantroll community, which he uses IN his COMMISSION EXAMPLES. This is a collaborative base that they made together.

I contacted one of them as the other was asleep, and asked if either of them had ever released the base and lo. Neither of them had.

So as Wren (abyssalsphynx) so eloquently put… not only is he stealing from big name artists he’s… profiting off the traced work of other fantrollers? I also found more instances of him tracing from princecanary WHICH HE HAS POSTED TO HIS BLOG AND TOYHOU.SE AS MAIN REFERENCES
I took screenshots of everything just in case he deletes or makes things otherwise inaccessible

This one I was only able to find a pinterest shot because Princecanary has deleted so much/hidden it because of…. Theft. Funny right? But it’s clearly princecanary’s art, and princecanary’s comic (Gentleman Town) characters.

This one literally took me two minutes to find, I was FLOORED. I’m almost positive there’s more instances of art theft, I just. Literally only have so much brain power to go digging, because he’s obviously shameless enough to steal from so many artists, I can only imagine there’s more that I couldn’t identify.
In conclusion I’m just… Why would you? Do all of this? Except laziness? Your own art, or at least what we used to SEE of it wasn’t like bad???? So why profit off of someone else’s art work?
And buyer beware because like. this is fucked up.
Anyway here’s all the screenshots and such.
