netflix is really currently hitting a double-whammy of an original that nearly hits some really good points and then doesn’t quite commit and instead feels like weird pseudo-pandering 

#jupiter's legacy is currently taking like. this really weird philosophical stance on whether or not superheroes should get involved in stuff #and I cannot tell whether or not they are supporting or condemning the main dude who looks like old knockoff jesus's views #like there are sequences going 'welp neo nazis suck' and then moves straight back to 'FOLLOW THE CODE DO NOT KILL' #'ALSO GETTING INVOLVED IN THINGS IN ANY WAY IS A SLIPPERY SLOPE SO WE CAN'T EVEN CONSIDER TRYING' #and then mitchells vs the machines practically queerbaits the sheer amount they queercode their main character #I'm halfway through but like. she. she has a girlfriend they have made a character that is basically her girlfriend. #as well as like. there is a moment of 'we turn off the wifi and suddenly literally every human cant function' which like #came off as a bit tone deaf to me both in terms of places where people cannot afford wifi don't want wifi or like #military dictatorships shut down wifi #like we're not an entire world constantly connected to social media the way that sequence implied #still think mvstm is p good although gotta finish it before my final verdict #mild spoilers in comments
