also, i just rewatched a whisker away and i can’t help but be disappointed whenever i watch that movie. do not get me wrong, it is cute and wholesome but i cannot fully love it. the dialogue (at least in the dub) can be awkward and out of place, and while it is a comedy, it chooses the wrong times to be serious and to be funny. i like the protagonists, their relationship is cute but it doesn’t feel substantial and genuine, but that can be excused because its young love and it doesn’t have to be ‘serious.’ the real reason their relationship suffers is because their characters aren’t compelling. in all, i enjoy the movie because of its chosen trope of ‘person turning into a cat’ (i wish more movies and media explored this; people compare this to the cat returns, which i adore, but all they really share is that trope).

#i think the reason why i walk away disappointed mainly is because there is so much room for potential #and i am sad because i like the premise of balancing between humanity and felinity #and sacrifice and the whole cat world and all of that #but the execution is lacking #i still need to watch the sub maybe the dialogue is better #the animation is okay and the music is pretty good #still recommend it to any catfolk since there isn't really any movies that handle this trope or being both human and cat #catchats #ramble #mewsings #text
