Shit rambling because I need it okay? Personal shit and kinda moonvale rambling. You don't have to read it. And warning, my words are probably a mess and this post is weird so.. I'm sorry xD
I don’t want to lie, I have zero capacity for the Moonvale posts right now. There's so much shit going on and the posts don’t really hype me up. I mean, I so glad they are active currently but otherwise.. Wah, I don’t know. I need the date. Like really. Not jokingly or anything, I need it to feel some kind of excitement again. And I don't know, I don’t even feel like posting the updates here, my head can't manage to do that. I'm glad other people do it. And I also don't manage to bring out some kind of duskwood shit post or anything. I know no one is forcing me to posts here but I feel like I have to anyway. This blog has many followers, I guess it's not a secret, so I kinda feel like I have to keep it going. And the thing is, I want to keep it going, but as I said, my capacity is like zero.
And the biggest shit. I have to finally submit to the psychiatry. And beside all other struggles that keep me away from finally sending it, Moonvale is in its way as well. I feel like I can't submit there when I don't know when moonvale will be released. Sounds weird, I know, but it's a real thing, trust me. So, Everbyte, please, tell us something. xD
Also, I get sick when I think about I might not be able to play episodes because I'm sitting in a psych ward and have other things to do. So I pray I will be lucky enough and the episodes will come out before and after my little vacation there. But as you see, I didn't even submit there but I'm still trying to plan Moonvale around it.
When I'm not just lying around in my bed I'm positing on Tumblr so it's kinda the only "obligation" I have. Don't take the word too seriously. As I said, I now I'm not obligated to post here. But for myself, and in my own head, I feel this way. I spent so much time here and I was allowed to build up this blog about a game I like and I want to keep it up. And want to stay here and to post and to be the blogger and the blog I used to be. For many a source to talk about the game/s and to ramble and send theories etc. And I want it to stay this way. For myself and for you all. Besides the love you all send me so often is a huge part of positivity in my life. Almost the only source of positivity I have. And I won't lie, missing this would also be a huge loss for me. I don't want it to sound like you have to send me love or anything. Please don't keep it this way. And I also don't want it to sound like I want this love. I post here to get my thoughts about duskwood out of my head. But I can't deny that it's a nice side effect. And I mean, wonderful. It makes me feel happy and loved and I fear to miss it at some point.
But really, if you read this here, don't feel like you have to tell me things like "we will always love you here" etc. It's very kind and lovely. But I think all those things are a problem in my head so, I don’t know.
Gosh, this post is weird, I know. But these thoughts are bothering me a lot and I was holding all of this back since a few weeks already so I'm going to just ramble the shit out now. Nobody has to read it or react. But this is a reminder to myself, it's my blog and I can post what I want. You can do it, girl. 💪
And I think getting this out into the void might calm my mind a bit.
I probably have more to ramble about but I think right now I forgot it. Anyway. If you read it, thank you. And I hope you will have a fantastic day/evening/night. And especially a amazing new week. You're doing wonderful and you deserve love. 💚
Thank you all for everything, seriously. 💚
OK bye 🫣

Thank you for @mysteriouslover1516 for asking me this interesting question.
How do I imagine Jake?
(Please refrain from reading this if you haven't completed the game as this contains some spoilers. :) I recommend you to finish the game and come back to read this after).
I imagine Jake as a reserved personality. I imagine his life to be difficult and much of a loner. That's why he's easily feeling shy.
He prefers to appear mysterious because he needs to maintain his identity a secret, being chased by the government and all, he appears creepy to most others but he doesn't feel scary or creepy at all to MC. Most probably because he helps MC with many hacking perks from the very beginning to help them in finding the suspect. And he also shows how he only trusts MC and is willing to work together with them so MC sees him as a partner not as someone who is scary or creepy at all (despite all the questionable hacked sources ofc). ;) Ofc there are many things about him that are still mysterious to MC and let's hope MC can know more about him. Only to MC especially. :)
He doesn't show his emotion much except when he's with MC so most probably he's an introvert person who will warm up with certain ppl whom he is already familar and feeling close with. Just like how he is with Hannah.
I think Jake is also a curious person. He's curious because MC is like an "X" factor that remains as something unpredictable and surprising to him in so many aspects and layers. He also really appreciates and respect MC. One of the reasons is because he learns many things about MC that he finds endearing to him. For one, he tried to half force MC into the problem He's in and MC has every chance they have to ignore but they choose not to. Next, MC even indirectly, if not directly, defends him from the group and keep his identity and any information about him safe from anyone. MC never blames Jake too much about the problem that comes after. Next, Jake seemed like he never really worked with a partner that he feels close to him before and I mean not physically close but psychologically and he's surprised that he feels that way about MC. (Tbh I didn't expect to fall in love with his character too).
Through these qualities Jake deems MC as a valuable partner he can trust.
He's also a secretly caring and a romantic person. Many times when MC was in trouble he jumped in and helped out without being asked. He also can suddenly type out something or do something that's just simply romantic out of nowhere. That random "Do you like chinese" question and statement about it reminds him of MC. Also how he just blurt out about how his mind can't focus on his task cause his mind always flies back to MC. I find it as romantic, but how he says it in a non flirty and non cringe kind of way... It does tremendous damage to my heart, ack. I find it so charming. (Yes, I'm a sucker for someone who can show that he cares in a non cringey way).
Up to this point, we can assume Jake as someone who can't control his feelings specifically, love. But he seems to be a calm and collected person, usually, maybe unless when it comes to love. :) Remember how he's annoyed because phil called MC for help and he admitted, "Yes. I'm not usually like this."
Accompanying his caring personality is his protective behavior. He protects MC from his pursuers, he created Nymos 💙 He is also so very determined in preventing MC from going to Duskwood at any cost. Also He finds it hard to turn his back on Hannah's case and even if he tried to cut any contact with Hannah, when she asked him for help, he finds it hard to refuse. Does he have hero complex, hmm not really, more like he has the protagonist qualities.
I think he's actually not a brave person inside, that's why he is charmed by how brave MC was pictured in the story. He's afraid of losing someone he loves. But despite not being brave enough, he always tries to act strong and put up a brave front.
When he loves someone he seems to be the type that is gonna go all out or nothing. I give it my all or I don't go at all. :)
I also imagine him as the type who won't easily fall in love. He fell for MC under very exceptional case which makes his love feel exceptional and rare. Maybe he secretly believes in destiny and that he will meet the one for him.
He's also loyal and ofc as we all know, extremely smart. He's mostly rational and not emotional except for some cases that involve people who are important to him.
He's not selfish. He honestly doesn't want to drag people to his mess that's why he pushed away MC at first because he knows it's dangerous to be with him.
I also imagine him as someone who can't be easily impressed by others. (Only when you do very exceptional thing that would impress him, ofc MC always impresses him, but hey Thomas did impress him too, once, if I'm not mistaken).
He's awkward with crowds. He often doesn't know the right words to say so he keeps it short and straightforward. He claimed to be able to handle bad guys and bad situations better ;)
He is honest except for things he needs to keep secret because he thinks it's to protect someone or keeping someone safe. So he does keep secrets but all the things he ever said is honest and the truth. Because everytime MC said "you're keeping something from me aren't you?" He never denies it. So he's not a liar.
He's pretty nerdy too :) why, because he rarely says anything except for the case they're working on or when he's explaining stuff that he's found and he's interested in (flashbacks to when he talks about the history of ironsplinter mine in long lines to MC, lol.)
He's very observant. Maybe part of the perks for being very smart and having a curious mind.
He's not good at reading people but he can take hints and not completely clueless.
He's stubborn alright. He needs some convincings if you want him to do otherwise. And there will be no discussion if it's a matter of MC's safety.
Tumblr media
Yes, you read it right, Jake is NOW OFFLINE. :)
He also has a cute quirk, unique, and special talent for understatements. :D when we told him he was surrounded by his pursuers he just said "This is not good."
I find how he's always typing his words in a formal/serious sentence and ending them with a period as something that is not awkward at all. It's charming and hot. :) And his smileys, and his 'haha.' And 'hehe.' Aaaaa..
So yes, he is a cool, charming, closet romantic introvert kind of person with all those qualities I have mentioned above which make him this complete personality, the Duskwood Hacker Jake that we all come to love. 💙

Meet-Cute
Jake had never been good at giving gifts. The loss of his mother at an early age deprived him of learning many skills required for such a task. Every time the need came up, he thought about what to buy and ordered it online only to rethink the gift before it even arrived. Often he bought two or three items and rejected them all, instead purchasing a gift card. He knew it was impersonal, but at least they could get what they wanted.
His lack of confidence in this area was the only time he felt ill-equipped to conquer anything that was directed at him. Jake had succeeded in foster care despite many years of torment. He learned at an early age that he had a knack for computers. Despite the fact that he had been socially awkward, he managed to find friends and a place among the misfits as well as the popular kids. Jake had earned scholarships to several of the most prestigious schools in America and even a couple overseas.
It was Jake's last year in college when he had a dream job lined up upon graduation and a small group of close friends when a strange text popped up on his phone, one that changed everything. He had a sister, two in fact. Apparently, the women had tracked him down in an effort to develop a relationship. They were older, though not by much. Hannah, the oldest had been the one to contact him first. She was sweet and lovely. He liked her instantly. They talked like they had known each other for their entire lives. Lily was the oldest and at first, she was quiet and distrustful having no idea who Jake was or what effect he could have on her or her sister. Jake understood. They had both put in work at developing a friendship and an eventual love for each other.
This Christmas was the right time to meet them. It had been two years of almost daily texts and a handful of video chats. The siblings needed to see each other in person and the women agreed when he brought up the subject. He would travel to Duskwood, a small town in Massachusetts to meet them in two weeks.
Jake wanted to see them, look into their eyes, and find similarities in their being. He couldn't wait to give them a hug, to remember what it felt like to be part of a family. It was something that he hadn't felt since his mother passed when he was ten. Something that he didn't think he needed or wanted or missed until they came along.
His sisters, Hannah and Lily, had just sent the text confirming the date of the trip. He had booked a flight a few days early in order to get a feel for the town and relieve some of the awkwardness that would inevitably be a part of their first meeting. While he was confident in their meeting and in his ability to adapt and be likable, he also knew that he needed some time to prepare for the emotions that would undoubtedly surface.
He also needed to bring gifts and these could not be gift cards. The idea that he had to come up with something wonderful for them was imposing and unfortunate. So, when he walked into the shop on the corner, his head hung a little lower than usual and his feet drug along the ground as if his body was trying to retreat.
He slugged around the store touching a few things here and there, but not really noticing much. He regarded a lovely set of gloves and picked them up just to set them down again quickly. He noticed a candle that was particularly fragrant and sighed without even leaning in to take in the candle's scent completely. He rubbed a bit of fabric on a lavender dress as he walked past. His eyes barely took in the sight of it.
It took a moment before Jake lifted his eyes to see all of the things around him. When he did, he noticed that the store was light and filled with warmth. Soft sage paint swathed the room in color and vibrancy, but somehow still had a calming effect. The shop's location on the corner allowed a great deal of light to flow in from the outside and though it was winter and quite dreary somehow everything in this place made him feel comfortable and somehow surrounded by warmth.
The clothing was placed as if in a showroom rather than a small shop, hanging from various racks with ample space between them. Gold-edged floor-length mirrors flanked the walls and eclectic gold and white tables and shelves held a myriad of accessories, from the basic black to the most vibrant of hues. Jake had no idea where to start and was about to walk out when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Sir? Can I help you find something?" Spinning around, Jake landed his gaze on the most beautiful green eyes that he had ever seen. Something happened to him that had never happened before--he couldn't think of a thing to say. Could he admit that she may be the something that he was hoping to find? No, he could not. Instead, he tried to find a way to keep her talking a little longer and get those gifts he was after. Though, at the moment, he couldn't decipher which task was the most important.
Finally realizing that he had been standing in silence simply staring at her and those gorgeous eyes, he cleared his throat, "I may actually need some help. I have to find the perfect gifts, but I have no idea what I am doing or where to begin. I have many skills, but shopping is not one of them." He lowered his head without failing to notice how her long honey-colored hair spun in curls around her shoulders and the way that her smile peeked out of her vermilion lips.
"Perfect gifts," she spoke in a conspiratorial way and took his hand, pulling him to the back of the shop, "are exactly why I am here. I was made to help handsome men, such as yourself, find the best gift for the people they care about." Confidence and sunshine oozed out of her.
Usually, her perky attitude would have frustrated him, but the wink that she gave him and the way she grabbed his hand unabashedly provoked and intrigued him.
"So you think I am handsome?" Jake asked, prodding her.
"You know that you are," she smiled. He was both proud of the compliment and embarrassed that he had asked, She continued without pause, "but we have a task to accomplish. Who are you buying a gift for?"
As she spoke, she directed him to a mismatched pair of chairs, one a rich tan leather and the other an uncompromising buttery velvet. These two chairs shouldn't belong together, but when they sat around the ornate table everything seemed to match.
He pondered meeting such a person in a place like this. She was beautiful, but she was also more than that. She was inviting and warm. Her clothes were vibrant and alive, but her aura was calm and gentle. He hadn't known so many things could define one person.
Jake had been thinking for a bit, thinking about her and this place that was so different from the world outside He had been thinking a little too long when he thought he should answer before she believed him to be a lunatic. "The gifts are for my sisters, whom I have never met. I have been talking to them for the last couple of years and..."
"Wait," she interrupted and leaned in, clearly intrigued, "you have never met your sisters?"
He was pleased that she was interested and wanted to chat a bit. He decided to push things a little further, "I am fine with the personal questions, but I need to know your name first."
"What a cheap way to find out my name. You get me all interested and then refuse to divulge more information. Tricky. I will tell you if you tell me your name first." She winked, but he knew that he would tell her anything that she asked for.
"Jacob...Jake," he stuttered.
"I am Macie, nice to meet you, Jake," Her voice was softer as she spoke. Their eyes met for a moment and then as if she had to pull away, she brought the formality back to her voice and said, "Now about those sisters?"
He explained the situation and when they decided to meet. He explained how he stumbled on this store and how she was his only hope for a stress-free meeting. She listened intently, her emerald eyes focused wholly on him. He could feel her interest, both in his story and in his person. The tension between them had become palpable. She leaned in closer as he spoke and he found himself mimicking her posture in response.
They were in a world entirely their own when she broke the repose, "You, Sir, are very interesting aren't you?" She stood up and walked across the room, touching his shoulder as she passed him. "You sit right there. I think I have the perfect things for Hannah and Lily."
He was impressed that she remembered their names. He was impressed by everything he knew of her. She flitted around the store occasionally asking what colors Hannah would like or if he had noticed anything in the background on the video chats? She even asked how he liked his coffee, though Jake didn't see the importance of that question.
He answered her questions but offered nothing in the way of help except a focused gaze that followed her as she flitted around from table to table and rack to rack filling some impressive baskets with personal selections. She had a lovely figure and a butt that he could only dream of getting his hands on. Jake knew that she was aware of his admiration and she flaunted it. She was unashamed.
He had completely lost track of time when she placed one basket and then the other on the table in front of him and returned to her velvet chair. On her way to her throne, the smell of her floral perfume met his nose. It filled his senses and his brain with thoughts that he was having a hard time reeling in.
"What do you think?" Macie asked, eager to hear his opinion.
Words stumbled out before he had the chance to think. "You are beautiful...I mean... What are you asking?... the presents?" He could feel the heat rise on his cheeks and pinched his arm hoping to squelch the red quickly forming on his cheeks.
She smiled and he forgot himself for a moment. Then just as quickly, he managed to pull his focus off of her and onto the baskets that she had prepared. They were incredible and filled with several items of clothing, as well as scarves and mittens, lotions, and candles. Each basket was a little different and met the unique interests of each woman. He would have never been able to pull off such wonderful creations.
He touched a few items and admired the thoughtful and skilled gifts that she had presented. "They are exactly perfect." He wanted to say more, to tell her that she was indeed also exactly perfect as far as he could tell and that he had to see her again and not in such a place but rather on a proper date, with flowers to match the blush of her cheeks and candles to make the light dance in her eyes. He couldn't say those things of course. He settled on "It is amazing that you made these based off of a fifteen-minute conversation."
"I told you that you were interesting. I hung on your every word." She met his eyes and gave a shy smile. "I have been doing this for a couple of years professionally and many years before that. I have always been good at shopping and fitting the right gift for the right person. My friends always had me do their Christmas shopping."
He admired her confidence. Most people didn't acknowledge the things that they could do well. Somehow that made her all the more attractive to him.
"Indeed. I may have to make you my own personal shopper. You have only worked here a couple of years?" Jake asked, trying to keep the conversations alive.
"You could say that." She offered nothing more. There was something in her voice that made him aware that there was more to her answer, but he wasn't ready to dig deeper just yet.
"I don't think I can repay you for relieving the stress I felt when I walked in here today. Meeting my sisters will be much easier now." He spoke in earnest.
"I am just glad to help," she paused. "Are you headed there now...to meet your sisters, I mean?"
"No, I arrived in town early. I wanted to have some time to buy gifts and relax a little, settle into the town that may become very important to me. I mean, if my sisters are here, I may be around more often." He wanted to tell her that she would also be a reason for this town's importance, but he wouldn't say that, not yet."
They walked up to the register, and as he paid, he inspected the store once more and thought of how inviting it was, and how much that was like Macie. He noticed the quality and individuality that each item inspired. He thought how very much it represented her welcoming and warm sensibilities. This was the perfect place for her and she was the perfect person to be here.
"How long did you say that you worked here?" He asked impulsively.
I opened the place two years ago today." She spoke with pride, She should be proud, he thought. Owning something that was an extension of yourself was an enormous accomplishment.
"This place is yours?" He asked though it was more of a realization rather than a question.
"Yes, and a loving testament to my mother, she passed three years ago and this was our dream. We were going to open this place together." Her voice faded a little as she mentioned her mother.
He nodded at the reminder of his own mother and what he had lost so long ago. "I am sorry for your loss. She must have been an incredible woman."
"She was...in every way. I think I was the lucky one to get to love her." She paused then shook off the storm in her eyes and added, "You know, I did do a lot for you today." A crooked smile crossed her face, "I thought of a way that you could repay me."
He wanted to scream out that he was willing to repay her in any way that she asked, but those words did not escape. "Oh yeah, what's that?"
"Buy me a cup of coffee in that diner over there. I don't think I have had my fill of talking to you."
"Coffee? I can do better than that. What would you think if I brought you a cup of coffee now and then picked you up for dinner when the shop closes."
She smiled openly now, the most gorgeous smile that he had seen, "I would accept that as a form of repayment."
He laughed. She grabbed his phone and typed in her number.
"Just in case you have to cancel, or if you change your mind about dinner."
"That won't happen, but I suppose I would like to call you for other reasons." He got the chance to wink at her for once.
"I suppose that would be a desirable option." She looked down as if embarrassed by his retort.
They said their goodbyes with smiles and quick glances, both excited about the plans for the evening. As he took his packages to the car, he realized that he felt lighter than he had in weeks.
He still hated shopping, but he sure liked this store and the woman inside. Who knew that something he hated so much could lead him to something he so desired maybe something that he even needed?
Smiling, he picked up the phone, found Macie's number, and texted.
J: What kind of coffee do you drink?
He had not forgotten about his promise and he sure wasn't going to break one to her.
M: Surprise me. I bet you will guess it right.
A slight chuckle escaped from his lips as he headed across the street to the diner. While she was incredibly intuitive and he wasn't sure he would ever be able to surprise her, something told him that he was going to keep trying for a very long time.

Remember Us Together?
It was once again the night of the Pine Glade Festival held in Duskwood, a time for festivities and happiness, but something was holding the group back these days.
“Can I tell you something, MC?” Jessy asks, voice quiet, as she and MC were wandering around the festival, waiting for the others to show up.
“Always, Jessy.” MC smiles, encouragingly. Her eyes held a certain sense of sorrow in them, as if she almost expected what Jessy wanted to say.
“I almost didn’t want to go to this festival, not after what happened.”
“I felt the same, and I’m sure the others are also fighting their own personal demons concerning this night.” MC sighs, “We all miss him, you know that, right?”
“Yes, of course I know.” Jessy hangs her head, “It’s selfish of me to think I’m the only one who mourns this way for Richy, isn’t it?”
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that,” MC says. “You shared a certain bond with Richy, you were closer to him than anyone else in the group was.”
“I almost want to call it love, MC. It was like I loved him, but of course I didn’t, right? I had Dan, so it couldn’t have been.”
“There’s different types of love between friends, Jessy. There’s platonic love, and then there’s romantic love. In your case I think yours was different from both, it was more of a bond that siblings commonly possess. He was your protector, your confidant, someone you trusted. He was your older brother figure.” MC’s voice grows softer, “Phil is your older brother, but he never treated you right, he was rarely loving towards you. What if your mind subconsciously replaced Phil and put Richy in that role?”
“I never thought about it that way,” Jessy admits. “It makes sense.”
“We are all considerate of you, Jessy.” MC says, “We all know how much Richy meant to you. Just, some of us mourn differently. Just because we don’t bring him up anymore or we experience times of happiness, doesn’t mean we don’t miss him.”
“I know that, MC.” Jessy looks horrified at the thought. “I never once considered that you guys forgot about him, never. I guess I just can’t hide my emotions as well as the others can.”
“And that’s not a bad thing, that’s nothing to be ashamed about. It takes time, but we’ll all get through this, I promise.” MC smiles, her eyes clouding over. “If Hannah can celebrate tonight after all that has happened to her, then I know you and I can make it too.”
“You and I?” Jessy questions, “I have a feeling there’s something else besides Richy’s death that is bothering you.”
“I’m worried about Jake.”
“He still hasn’t gotten into contact with you?”
“No, which makes me scared that maybe he never will.” MC admits, “It’s been a year, what if he can never find a safe place to reach out? Or worse, what if he doesn’t want to anymore? What if he changed his mind about me, I mean it’s possible, right?”
“Nonsense,” Jessy shakes her head. “He’s probably still trying to evade his pursuers, but he would never forget about you, I’m sure of it.”
“Maybe you’re right.”
“And deep down you know you still trust him, otherwise you wouldn’t have waited this long.” Jessy says.
“Yes,” MC takes a deep breath. “Thanks for letting me confide in you, Jessy.”
“Of course, always.” Jessy winks as a smile spreads across both girls’ faces.
“Jessy! MC!” A female voice calls to them, “There you two are!”
The two girls look up to see a slender brunette woman walking towards them, a blonde right behind her. “Lilly and I just got here!”
“Hey Hannah,” Jessy greets the brunette first, then turns to her companion. “Lilly.”
“I heard the fireworks are going to be absolutely spectacular tonight,” Hannah informs, “They start at ten and go on till midnight this time.”
Jessy raises an eyebrow, “Wait a minute, where’s Thomas?”
“He’s with Dan, at the hot dog stand.” Hannah laughs.
“Of course,” Jessy facepalms, “Dan loves hotdogs.”
Hannah gestures towards the direction of the baking booth, “And we all know where Cleo is. She’s been working hard helping her mom organize the desserts for tonight.”
“I hope she made her lemon bars,” Lilly laughs.
“Forget the lemon bars, I want her world-famous Pyramid Cake.” MC sighs.
“That was Richy’s favorite dessert,” Jessy says in a soft tone. “He loved this festival.”
“I’m liking this guy more and more,” MC giggles.
“Deep down he really was a good guy,” Hannah nods. “Despite everything he did wrong.”
“Most of us grew up together with Richy,” Lilly says. “Everyone except Jessy, she wasn’t born here.”
“Yes, I moved here when I was six, remember, MC?”
“I would never forget,” MC smiles and then says, “Well, I guess I’ll just have to eat two slices of cake as a tribute to Richy.”
“Yes,” Jessy laughs. “Good idea.”
“Hey!” Cleo greets as the four girls approach the table filled with sweets. “How is everyone?”
“Fantastic,” Hannah answers and then sighs happily. “And once again, everything looks perfect, Cleo.”
“Thank you,” The brunette laughs. “We’ve worked really hard on everything, so please, don’t hesitate to eat as much as you want.”
“You don’t have to say that again,” Lilly puts two lemon bars on her plate.
“Hey, MC. I made your favorite, the Pyramid Cake!” Cleo winks.
“Awesome, can you dish me up a slice?” MC smiles, pulling her phone out of her pocket as it starts to vibrate. “What kind of telemarketer calls this late?”
“Is it Jake?” Jessy asks, looking over MC’s shoulder.
MC’s face pales, “Wait a minute, no. I recognize this number, it’s my ex.”
“You mean your ex from your old hometown?” Jessy’s jaw drops.
“Yes.”
“Don’t answer it,” Hannah advises.
“You don’t want to give him the satisfaction of answering,” Lilly agrees.
“But what could he want?” MC asks, torn.
“It doesn’t matter,” Cleo states. “He’s in the past, you’re here in Duskwood now, you’ve got Jake. Your ex doesn’t deserve a second thought from you.”
MC silences her phone and places it back in her pocket. “Anyway, it looks amazing, Cleo.” She says as she takes the plate from her friend.
“Oh oh oh!” Dan’s voice booms as he comes up behind the girls. “I’ve found the dessert table, Tommyboy!”
“Oh good,” Thomas rolls his eyes at the nickname. “Maybe if you stuff some more food in your mouth I’ll finally have a moment’s silence.”
“What is that supposed to mean?!” Dan exclaims.
“Maybe it means you talk too much?” MC raises an eyebrow.
“Pfff,  I don’t know why I asked for your opinion.”
“Rude,” MC sniffs then grimaces as her phone vibrates in sequence.
Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz.
“What is that?” Dan asks, looking around.
Bzz Bzz Bzz Bzz Bzz
“Sounds like somebody’s phone is blowing up,” Dan says.
“It’s mine,” MC says in a quiet voice.
“Someone is desperate to get a hold of you,” Dan notes. “Hackerman?”
“It’s her ex,” Jessy answers.
“What?” Dan frowns, “Give me your phone.”
“Dan, that’s not a good idea.” MC shakes her head.
“I’ll beat the crap out of this guy!”
“Oh sure you will.” MC rolls her eyes.
“I just have your best interests at heart,” Dan informs. “Promise me whatever your ex is saying, you won’t dwell on it. Read it, laugh about it, and move on.”
“Yeah, it’s his loss!” Jessy agrees.
Hannah laughs, “Also I’d be more concerned about what Jake would do to your ex, rather than what Dan would do.”
“Hey!” Dan protests and flexes his muscles, “Do you see these things?”
“But Jake can hack into the guy’s account and wipe out all his savings,” Lilly reminds.
“Pfff, that’s the easy way out,” Dan brushes her off. “It takes more gut to beat the man up face to face.”
“Look at the fireworks!” Jessy excitedly points at the lights erupting against the horizon.
“Oh my gosh, I almost forgot about the fireworks.” Hannah exclaims.
“Aren’t they starting a bit early?” Cleo asks.
“Yeah, to hype the crowd up.” Dan says, “There’s more tourists this year, haven’t you noticed?” “Oh yeah,” Lilly glances around. “You’re right, Dan.”
“I’m always right,” Dan waves his hand. “Come on, let’s find a spot to sit.” “I’ll find you guys later,” Cleo says. “I’m waiting for someone else to come take my spot at the booth.” “Sounds good,” Thomas says, “See you then.”
Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz
“Listen, I have to find the bathroom real quick, text me when you find a spot and I’ll meet you there.” MC lies, not waiting for anyone to talk her out of it. Walking around a corner of a tent, out of view from the group, she immediately pulls out her phone and unlocks it.
Hey, MC.
Why aren’t you answering your phone?
Can we please talk?
MC? Fine, here it goes anyway.
I’ve had a lot of time to think about it.
The thing with the other girl didn’t work out, she didn’t even come close to comparing with you.
I miss you, I haven’t seen you around town for a while. Where’ve you been?
Are you busy?
What do you think about us starting over again?
We could go back to the way it was, like absolutely nothing happened between us.
What do you say, MC?
You were so madly in love with me, you probably still are, haha.
Afterall, remember us together?
MC read the messages twice, heartbeat racing, thumbs frozen over the keyboard. Should she text back? She couldn’t just let him get away with trying to contact her again, right? Why didn’t she block his number beforehand….
Are you drunk?
I don’t drink, silly.
It’s over, it’s been three months. You were the one who ended us, remember?
It was a dumb mistake on my part, I admit it. I miss you, I want you back.
You think I’ll go back to you just like that? You snap your fingers and I’ll come running back into your arms, just so you can go break my heart again?
I promise I won’t, please, MC. Listen to me, I need you.
It’s over, I’ve moved away.
You moved? Why the heck would you move?
I needed a fresh start, to get away from people like YOU.
Where did you even move to? Lol.
Like I’d tell you. How stupid do you think I am? So, it wouldn’t work anyway, if I even DID want to come back.
We both know you’ll never find anyone else. Stop being so haughty, just come back. You know you want to. If you think you’ll find someone to replace me, you’re crazy.
Are you kidding? You honestly think that? Did you forget how jealous you got when other guys dared to even smile at me?
You’re one to talk about jealousy, what about that girl you always accused me of flirting with?
You mean the girl who you ACTUALLY did flirt with? The one you cheated on me with and caused us to break up because she was apparently your true love?
That’s beside the point, MC. Stop taking everything so personally.
Stop taking cheating personally? My apologies, I didn’t know. If you’re trying to say cheating is the new normal, then you’re wrong.
How so? A lot of guys get bored and have fun with other girls, lol. Doesn’t mean anything.
Jake doesn’t.
Who the heck is Jake? And also if you think he actually loves you, you’re silly, MC. Whoever would want to deal with you for all eternity is out of their minds.
I thought you wanted me back?
I’m just bored and drunk, haha.
I don’t have time for this. Leave me alone.
MC watched the typing bubbles float on the other end of the line, eyes starting to water slightly.
“MC,” Jessy’s voice came to her, causing her to look up.
MC shrugs, wiping her eyes. “Curiosity killed the cat, didn’t it?”
Jessy smiles sympathetically, easing the phone out of MC’s hand. After skimming over the messages, she looks back up. “You need to block him.”
“But-”
“No, he’s already starting to deprecate you again. He’s toxic, you can’t keep playing into his hands. Just you texting him is showing that you’re still willing to waste your time on him.”
“He sounded almost like he changed in the beginning,” MC whispers.
“I’ll give him that he sounded remorseful at the beginning, yes. But did you read what he ended with? Once you started replying and weren’t cooperating as planned, he started to show his true colors again. He basically was saying no one would want you, that he was the best thing that ever happened to you. Not only is this guy insane, but he’s an idiot as well!”
“Why can’t I move on, Jessy? I’m going insane, I can’t keep doing this to myself.”
“MC, every relationship that lasts as long as yours will be hard to get over. You invested your time and effort into making it work, you entrusted him with your heart. Unfortunately he ended up fumbling with it and therefore broke it. When he cheated on you, the future was gone, but the past wasn’t. No one ever gets over a relationship that easily, especially one that affected you as much as yours did.”
“But what about Jake? I told Jake I’d wait for him, even said I loved him. But here I am crying over my ex and for a split second I was wanting to believe he had changed.”
“Even when people move on from previous relationships and enter into new ones, the memories of the past are still with them. What matters is what you choose to do with those memories, whether you lament over the heartbreak you experienced, or whether you push yourself to find better and realize how much you’re worth.”
“Can you block him for me?” MC asks, voice quiet.
“My pleasure,” Jessy says, then suddenly the phone starts ringing. “Oh, even better.”
“Don’t answer it,” MC giggles as Jessy makes a face at her, answering the call.
“Oh hey, you’re MC’s ex, right? Well you can just go wander off a cliff. And also, if you call her one more time, I swear I'm gonna come over and beat you to a pulp till you can't see a dang thing and your mom is gonna have to feed you through a straw for a year. Oh right, you were a jerk to your mom as well, so I guess you have no one to take care of you. Maybe you can go crawling back to some past ex that you were a jerk to, just so she can kick you to the curb again. What? Oh, I’m Jessy, MC’s best friend. And by the way, you might wanna watch out for MC’s new boyfriend, he’ll hack you into pieces.” With that, Jessy hangs up on him and then blocks him. “Here you go,” she says, handing MC back her phone. “We should probably go find the others now, before they start to freak out.”
Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz
“That’s probably them now,” MC laughs as she looks at her lockscreen. “OMG.”
“Is that a good or bad OMG?” Jessy bites her lip, confused.
Hello, MC.
My pursuers have finally lost track of me, I doubt they will find me again soon.
I hear you moved to Duskwood. Being that I am in the area, what do you say about finally fulfilling our promise to meet in the future?
There’s a nice Chinese restaurant in Duskwood that I know of. You once told me Chinese was your favorite, so what do you say?
I’ve thought about you often, MC. My feelings for you never faded, they only grew stronger. I hope you feel the same.
“It’s Jake,” MC’s eyes light up, her phone starting to ring.
“I’ll give you a few minutes by yourself,” Jessy smiles, satisfied, walking off.
“Jake.” MC answers the phone, “I’ve missed you so much.”
Hey, lovelies! :) Thank you so much for reading this, and please leave a comment! I love to hear from you all! My ex actually did this to me, so I sympathize with anyone who can relate. There's someone out there who will treasure you and treat you like their whole world! In the meantime, I love you, and so does Jake! ;)

Total Recall || Duskwood Jake x Fem!Mc Oneshot ||
A/N: Hello lovelies! 😊 Well, I haven't been active much here lately, my life is a bit hectic these past few months, but I'm still here! 😁 And it's been quite a while since I wrote anything, so I really hope you will somehow find this acceptable/likeable in any way. 💚
As always don't mind my crappy title 😅, and don't mind any mistakes you might stumble upon. Take care and happy reading! 💚
WARNINGS: Huh, I don't really know if I should use some special warning here, I haven't really needed it so far 😅 But lets say it does have some descriptions that are slightly "mature" 😶 So there, you have been warned! 👍
When her eyelids slowly opened, all she saw was darkness. Unmoving her head from the pillow, her eyes jump around it until her sight landed on a shy streak of light coming through a small crack in the curtains pulled over the window.
It appeared as it was night time, at least she suspected so. And as her vision almost entirely adjusted to the darkness and the soft breeze from the outside stirred the curtains, allowing her a short but clear sight of a starry night sky, there was no more doubt about it.
But something wasn't quite right in all this.
She did love the calmness of a night time, but she never felt quite serene surrounded in complete darkness, her fingers almost instantly reaching for the switch of her night stand lamp whenever she would wake up in the middle of the night, like now. So why did it feel different this time?
As her mind tried to figure out the cause of this sudden change at her usual behaviour, she suddenly became aware of something else - she wasn't alone in the bed. There was unmistakable presence of another person, the closeness of their body radiating the heat over the bare skin parts of her back.
But she wasn't alarmed about it, not at all. On the contrary, she was so seren, that feeling only getting stronger as her thoughts finally arranged themselves and a blissful smile begin to form on her face.
With as less commotion possible she leaves the bed, her bare feet impressively silent crossing the room over the old creaky parquet to the window. Parting the curtains just so enough light enters the room she turns, her heart skipping a beat as her sight falls on the person occupying the other side of the bed.
Jake was there soundly asleep, the strands of his pitch-black hair lying messy around his head and pillow. Her fingers wiggle of their own will then, her mind recalling how just recently her hands were moving through that same pitch- black, her lean fingers tangled in those same messy strands, and how silky it felt under her touch.
Her eyes move, this time stopping and lingering on his slightly plump lips. As in a trance she lift her hand, her fingers lightly resting on her own much thiner ones, slowly start to move to her neck, continuing over her breast and belly, retracing just a small path his soft lips took just hours ago. A warm breeze from the window graze her skin, her whole body shivering from the memory of his warm breath accompanying that every kiss, her skin burning and body hungrily arching for more under him as he continued to explore every part of her, her head spinning every time he came near her most sensitive parts.
As her eyes continue to move over him, she recalls everything: how his strong hands delicately glided over her bare skin as if affraid that they could hurt her, yet at the same time weren't affraid to grab her tighter in the much needed moments; how her own hands greedily grasped for him, pulling him as close to her possible, with nails digging at his skin in the times of high pleasure. How their bodys amazingly fitted together, their every move perfectly synchronized, or how the sounds of pleasure were equaly heard leaving both of them.
"Mc? Is everything all right?"
Jake's hoarse and sleepy voice reach her ears, but she was still in her trance state, she didn't really register him speaking to her.
After few more unsuccessful tries to get her attention, he quickly gets out of bed and almost runs to her.
"Mc, what's wrong, what happened?"
The panic in his voice was evident, and when he put his hands on her upper arms and notice her shivering, that panic only rose.
"Oh gods, Mc, you're shivering! What is going on?!?"
Blinking a few times, she finally wakes out of her trance and looks puzzled at him "Jake, wha- what's going on? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I'm sorry, you're asking me what's going on?" he questions looking equally, if not more confused back at her "I wake up to you standing in front of the open window with this- this sheepish look on your face, and when I spoke to you, few times might I add, you were silent. And then I near you and realise you are shivering like a leaf on the wind in the middle of summer..."
"All right, all right, I get it, no need to be so dramatic." she cuts him casually, peck him on the cheek and starts going back towards the bed.
"You gotta- dramatic? I'm being dramatic? I think you got things waaaay wrong here." he defiantly replies crossing his arms in front of him.
"Awww, come on babe, are you really gonna get so much pouty at me now?" she teas back, only getting him more irritated.
"Now I'm pouty! Well, excuse me for worrying about you!"
"Oh, don't be like that." she says apologetic "You know I love you for being concerned about me, but there is nothing to be concerned about here, really."
"Is that so?" he speak back not completely believing her " All right then, if you say so. But, I would still like to know what the heck did happen to you just now."
Realising he won't drop this until she gives him more concrete answer she sighs "Total recall."
"I'm sorry, but did- did you just say 'total recall' ?"
She just nods getting even more confused look back from him "I'm sorry, but what in the hell does a 1990's movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger has to do with all this?"
"Huh?"
Now it was her turn to be confused but he starts to speak again before she had a chance to even think straight, let alone say anything else.
"Or were you refering to the remake with Colin Farrell maybe?"
He was so serious, that it took her a moment to compose herself, before her laughter boomed through the room.
"Wonderful, and now she's laughing like a madman at me."
He looked completely defeated by now, but she couldn't stop laughing. Pulling all her strenght in the effort to stop, she get up and walks to him " Oh you silly man. I'm not laughing at you."
But when he only gave her a stern look with a raised eyebrow she barely managed not to start laughing again.
"Ok, ok, let me explain, yeah?"
"Please do, enlighten me, as I'm clearly clueless here about everything."
Taking a deep breath to make sure she won't start laughing again she begins "Ok, so first, you did hear me correct, I did say total recall. But..." she quickly continue as he was about to comment on it " BUT, I wasn't refering to any of the things you mentioned."
"What I was refering to, and I realise now how my choice of words was maaaaaaaybe slightly confusing to you, was that my mind was recalling on the total events of earlier tonight."
The confusion was back on his face again "The events of earlier?"
"Yes, babe. You know, what we did earlier... tonight...in the bed...and the shower...and-"
"And the kitchen table..." he continues thoughtfully for her, and when he finally realised what she was talking about, his features change and a sly smirk starts to form on his face.
"You know" he begins, wrapping his hands around her and pulling her closer "remakes are rarely any good, but maybe we should test that theory, you know, just to be sure."
"You know what" she starts placing her hands around his neck "I think you're absolutely right here - we should definitely test that theory."
"Then we should waist no time and get on with the testing." he grins at her "Care to choose the first spot for it, my dear?"
"Oh, I say we just stay here. This rug feels pretty soft under my feet, if you get what I mean." she grins back and wink.
"Oh, I get you, darling" he leans to her ear, his warm breath on her neck once again making her whole body shiver "I totally get you."

A oneshot in honor of 800 days since I played Duskwood for the first time <3
Jake was the first to wake up. He was used to it because of his job, wanting to finish early so he could have the rest of the day free.
He sat up in bed, looking to his right. A smile appeared on his face as he saw Macie sleeping. And it was replaced by laughter as he heard little Hope blow bubbles with her mouth in her sleep.
After spending the whole night crying, he now seemed like a little angel. Just like her mother.
He took a handkerchief and wiped her face. Every time he saw her, the protective instinct grew. Now it wasn't about protecting a single person.
It was still difficult for him to think that all of this was real. That he finally had a life with her. It had taken him being granted complete freedom in exchange for working for the FBI, but there he was. Having a normal life.
He slowly stroked Macie’s cheek and she was awake, blinking slowly.
She looked up and smiled at Jake. The light from the window made him a perfect silhouette of a shadow resembling the presentation of a hero. She bit his lip, controlling herself. It wasn't the time.
"Good morning," she said with a hoarse voice, still a little asleep. "Admiring the scene?" her voice sounded sweet, holding her daughter's little hand.
Jake nodded, bowing to them.
He rested his forehead on his wife’s, with a smile. Macie laughed happily. She also didn't believe she had this life with him and had something beautiful that the two of them had created. Having Hope had been something she'd never thought about if Jake hadn't come into her life. She was what showed her that a miracle could be born from a pure love like theirs. Hope had been the hope they had had to be together.
The little girl began to stretch, making small sounds. The parents laughed without making much noise.
Macie carefully placed a small kiss on her head and Jake placed a small kiss on her little hand. The little girl opened her eyes and looked at them curiously.
"Good morning, little angel," Jake said slowly, so as not to scare her.
"I thought I was your angel," Macie joked.
Jake smiled at her, placing his hand behind her neck, pulling her close to him and kissing her slowly.
“You are the angel, she is the little angel” he looked at Hope again and then at her “and you both are what I love most in this life.”
Macie's face lit up. She always seemed to be hearing those beautiful words for the first time.
She wanted to kiss him again, but Hope started to complain.
She laughed, sitting up in bed.
"It seems like someone is hungry," she picked her up, speaking to her tenderly.
“Let me help you,” Jake put her hair up in a small bun, and then looked at them lovingly.
He would truly give his life for them to be safe.
But also, he would do anything to continue being in their lives.
And he was sure that this life together was going to be wonderful if he had them to forget all the bad things he had gone through.
He finally got a family he was never going to lose.

After the End
The silence was hurting her ears, like it was almost deafening tone. The room was dark, sun had set ages ago and normally, she would have been sleeping for hours now. But not today. Only light in the room was coming from her phone, where she kept reading the last words of their conversation. Her hold on the phone was tight, as she was afraid of dropping it, losing connection with him.
I cannot go without telling you.
Without telling me what?
Something I’ve bene meaning to tell you for a long time.
What do you want to tell me?
MC
I love you.
I love you too, Jake
He loved her and she loved him. She had known it for a while now, but with everything going on, she had actively pushed her thoughts back. They had to find Hannah, and her friends had been in constant danger. It was so odd, how they had known with Jake for a such a short time, but she felt like she had known him all her life. How naturally they trusted and respected each other’s, and how her heart always skipped a beat when he messaged him.
When Richy had revealed himself as being the man without a face, the initial shock had changed to anger. He was supposed to be their friend and she had thought Richy was also her friend too. How could he have done all of this? What kind of person treats others this way? Hannah had told the group what happened in the mine, how Richy had set up the fire and never came out… They all had found out that their friend had betrayed them and then they lost him all in 30 minutes span. Jessy was a mess, and she had tried to call her many times, but Dan had let her know that she couldn’t stop crying and was no condition to speak. Lilly had called her parents to pick them up and they all were going into the hospital to see Hannah. She tried to feel relief for them, but when she knew that her most important person was still in the mines somewhere and FBI was there… The only thought she had, that she couldn’t breathe until she knew he was alright and safe.
I love you
I love you too, Jake
The minutes and hours felt like years. The first rays of the sun peeked behind the curtains, and she still hadn’t heard from him. When she heard her next-door neighbor leaving to work, she snapped out of her trance. Something had gone wrong; she just knew it. He would have texted her soon as he was out of the mine, he knew that she was waiting. Panic started swell on her again, rising in intolerable levels. She had to do something, but what?
What could she do? How could she help from her couch? He was somewhere deep in the mines, alone in the dark, without aid. All their friends and his sisters were in the hospital, and all he got was her. She jumped from the couch, confused, and saw herself on the mirror. Dark circles under her eyes revealed that it was 30 hours since she last slept, but that wasn’t important now. She realized that there was only one thing which she could do.
She would go to Duskwood.
When the taxi finally drove in her driveway, she hopped in and stuffed her backpack in the backseat with her. Quick glance on her phone told her that she had no new messages, and she had only an hour before her flight would leave.
“To the airport, please. Take the fastest route.”
They passed the suburbs way too slowly in her opinion, but soon they were in the highway, speeding up. Within fifteen minutes, they arrived in the airport. Because she was travelling lightly and had done the check in within her phone on her way, she got through the security just in time to see that her gate for the flight had opened. When she finally sat down on her seat and looked outside of the window, she allowed herself to let one tear slip.
I love you.
I love you too, Jake.
Six hours later, she arrived at the small train station of Duskwood. She had managed to get some sleep during the flight and connecting train, but she still felt like she had been hit by a car. She picked her phone again for the thousandth time for that day and saw that she still hadn’t got new messages and Jake was still offline. The conductor whistled, and the train started moving again, leaving her alone in the platform.
She still hadn’t a plan and couldn’t form one without getting information about the current situation. She knew that only person she could contact to get some, was someone who Jake would not approve, but she didn’t have a choice. She opened her contacts on the messaging app and typed slowly. She had to play her cards right and not cause any additional issues.
Alan,
I hope I have finally convinced you that I was not the person who you were looking for, and you can trust me.
She waited for a couple of minutes, when the familiar pen showed up, scribbling on the screen.
You haven’t been a suspect in this case in any point.
She contemplated her words. She couldn’t reveal too much, but Alan’s previous warning had indicated that he knew, that Jake was the one FBI was looking for. But he had given her a much-needed warning.
Oh, Alan. You and me both know, that is a lie. But I am not going to hold on a grudge. ps. Did FBI found what they were looking for?
She bit her lip, as always when she was nervous. She saw Alan typing something, deleting it and then he started typing again.
Duskwood police is grateful for FBI’s aid on this case and the gathering of the evidence is still ongoing and I am not going to give any additional information regarding this matter.
Shit, shit, shit. That had to mean that FBI was still in the mines, looking for Jake. She was relieved that he hadn’t been caught, but the task of saving him would be impossible task when FBI was still in the area. No, not impossible, she reminded herself, that’s why she had come her. There was a chance, but she just would have to take it.
She rented a car, not a too big, so it would not attract interest. They also gave her a map for the area, which she appreciated a lot. She trailed the route to the waterfall from the parking place with her finger but realized quickly that it was probably full of police and FBIs cars and staff. She covered her hair with the baseball cap and put sunglasses on her face, checking herself from the car sunscreen mirror. With a map on her hand, she looked just like a regular tourist. She doubted that anyone would recognize her, but better safe than sorry. She had booked a cabin during her way on the airport, and quick glance on the map revealed to her that it was in secluded are in farther south from Duskwood, where the mines were. Her hands trembled when she folded the map and put it in her pocket, she had never been this afraid in her life before. She took a long breath and held her head against the steering wheel.
I love you
I love you too, Jake.
She started the engine.
After 15 minutes of drive, she saw the parking place for the beginning of the trail. It was packed and she could spot the blue and red lights from afar. There was no way that she could pull the stupid tourist-impression with that crowd. Frustrated cry escaped from her lips, and she pressed the speed pedal. There had to be other way. She kept driving and glanced the policemen while passing them and soon she couldn’t see them anymore from her rear mirror. She tried to look up where to pull over, and finally spotted a place beside the main road, which looked like an abandoned bus stop. When she had turned off her engine, she looked at the map again.
According to Jake, the mines were 60 miles long, and he could be anywhere in those 60 miles. She googled the cave site archives, where Jake had retrieved his map from and looked at all the entrances. Jake had said that he didn’t know other exits than the main one and the one which Richy had used, and the latter one just had a fire. She knew that Jake wouldn’t go to the part of the tunnels he didn’t know of, that would just be guaranteed getting lost option. But if he had his map with him (which was very likely), he would have to choose one of the other exits. What would you do, what you would do in this situation, she kept asking herself and then she realized.
If there would be FBI waiting in all the exits, it wouldn’t make sense to try to get to them. They also couldn’t search all the 60 miles simultaneously, so they would have to look in sections. The mines were dark, maps weren’t reliable and offered multiple spots to take cover. It would make prefect sense to hide, until FBI would think that he had managed to escape before securing the exits. That she would do, trick them believing that she would have already left…
Suddenly, this realization caused her to get more anxious. How long could he hide in the dark? Did he have any food with him? Or water? Maybe that was the reason he didn’t answer her messages since he would have to turn his phone off to save battery. She zoomed in for the map again, trying to look out what kind of things mines had. She had seen a shaft from the picture, but she didn’t know what mines usually looked like. Was there more of shafts? Would he get deeper or closer towards the ground?
This was like looking for a needle in a haystack. He would have tried to get far as he could from where Richy had held Hannah, because that area would be the main focus for the police. The main entrance was also off limits, and that left only one route available. She followed the markings of the map, where the road would be halting into a crossroad and again later for another crossroad. How could she know which way he would choose? She looked farther from the map and saw that the rest of the exits would be along the long road in the end of the tunnels. It would make sense that he would keep in close of them if he would need quick way out.
She looked at her other map, where the landscape was drawn and looked where each exit was. It wouldn’t be reasonable to come out in area, where there was no possibility of hiding, so she could cross few of them over, like the one which was located near of the busy road. She managed to narrow the possible exits for two, both were in secluded place and there was lots of forest around of them, no traffic, or human habitats. The map from cave archives showed that the tunnels were collapsed around the first exit, but the second one appeared to be intact. It had to be this one, she thought. She didn’t want to consider the option she might be wrong in here, there was so much in stake here. She had to be right.
I love you
I love you too, Jake
The plan started to form in her head, but she would need one more thing before she could go.
A distraction.
Her sister answered her call with a groggy voice. The tone of her voice implied that there had been again sleepless nights for her too, but different reasons than hers. Her sister had a baby six months ago with her husband Doug, and her nephew wasn’t keen on sleeping. For a moment she felt sting of her conscious bugging her, but she pushed it away.
“Sarah, I need a favor from you.”
“No, you can’t borrow my car today, we have a doctor’s appointment –“, her sister started, but she quickly stopped her.
“I don’t need your car. I need you to listen to me very carefully now”, she told her, and something in her voice stopped her sister’s argument instantly. “Is Doug at home? Can you put him on the phone with me?”
“Are you in trouble? MC, what’s going on?” her sister sounded worried. “Why would you –“
“Sarah, please. This is very important, and I’ll explain everything to you later but now I really need to talk Doug”, she pleaded in a desperate tone. She knew that there was no way that she would actually explain her sister what was going on later, but that did calm her enough to put her husband on the phone.
Doug was engineer in multinational company and often reminisced his university years, where he and his roommate would do some hacking on local newspaper site, putting false news on the website and that kind of things. Nothing too serious which would have landed him in actual trouble, but he did have basic skills on hacking websites.
“MC? What’s up?” she heard him asking on the phone. She heard him being confused, she had never called directly on him.
“I need a huge favor from you, and I shouldn’t ask it for you. But I don’t have anyone else to ask and you’re my only hope”, she told him and couldn’t prevent the low sob.
“MC, everything is alright, don’t cry. What can I do for you?”
She then spent the next ten minutes convincing her sisters husband and ensuring that he would know how to do his task without getting in caught. He assured her that he had his ways and could protect himself, but she could hear that he was uncertain about this. It was literally poking a bear, she knew it, but it had to be a proper distraction, otherwise it wouldn’t work, and all this would be for nothing. When Doug finally agreed on her instructions, she started sobbing again on relief. She quickly said goodbyes and terminated the call, sending him the necessary files before switching her screen off.
She drove her car 15 kilometers in southbound and saw the gravel road she was supposed to turn. It wasn’t directly for the cave entrance (that would have risen suspicions too much), but close enough so she could hike there and keep her car hidden at the same time. When she was sure no one could see her, she turned to the gravel road and found a perfect spot for her car, where it wasn’t visible from the main road.
She pulled her hair on a bun and changed her t-shirt to a pullover. When she had gathered all her things and gotten off from the car, the fear set in her heart. This was it. If she would fail, her life would get harder, but not hard as near Jake's would get. She took a sip from her water and opened her phone. It was 7 pm, and the dark would set soon. She made sure that she knew which way she should go and played her plan again and again in her head.
In a half an hour, the sun had disappeared behind the trees, and she started her journey towards the entrance of the mine. She followed the blue spot which indicated her location on the map. When she was around 400 meters away in a creek, she opened her browser and saw that Doug had accomplished his task. There also was a text message from Alan.
I doubt this was a coincidence.
I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Now she had to hope that her plan would be enough to get those FBI agents lured from the mines. She slowed her steps and could hear car door slamming further down the creek. She crept behind a tree and peeked towards the entrance. She saw the agents packing their things up in a hurry and disappearing in their cars, the fastest one was already on the road. Within minutes, the last one left the parking area, and she was alone. She waited for extra ten minutes just to make sure that there would not be anyone left in the forest, and when she was finally convinced that there were no others, she started to ascend lower to the entrance.
The entrance was old and the air coming down the tunnels smelled murky. It was so, so dark. She had joked that she was happy that she didn’t had to be the one to go there and now… She bit her lip again and looked down with her flashlight. The light showed only the first steps of the stairs. She stepped on the first step, and it creaked under her foot. The noise was so loud that only then she realized that she had been holding her breath. Oh, come on, get a grip of yourself now and just go. You know why you are here.
The self-given pep-talk helped, and she started to ascend the steps down. The trip down felt like a lifetime, and she kept looking at her back, where the soft light from the last daylight kept getting smaller and smaller, until finally she couldn’t see it anymore. There was darkness behind her and in front of her. Great.
She arrived in the first tunnel, and she knew from her previous map researching that she should turn left and then right, to get to the area where she should start look for Jake. She hoped that the map would be correct on this part of the tunnels, and she wouldn’t have to wander too much blind. She grabbed some stones and piled them up, so she would know which way she should go when she got back.
If I get lost in here, I just banished all the possible rescue to other side of the city.
The thought wasn’t comforting, and she had to try and think of something else. The tunnels were darker than in Jake’s picture and the camera hadn’t captivate the moisture of the air. The air was damp and heavy, and it felt like pushing her down. She pointed at her flashlight in the direction she was supposed to go and started walking. The ceiling was low, and she could hear water dripping farther down in the tunnel. Some halls were covered in large rocks and the passages had become narrow.
She thought about Jake. What if she was wrong and he had managed to get out of the mines? What if she was alone in here and the mines would collapse and bury her body. No one knew she was here, and this was the last place anyone would look out her. Her hands started shaking again and the light bounced on the walls. She thought she saw some shapes deeper in the tunnel and swore she could hear whispers. She would die here alone, and no one would know.  The mine would claim human life again, first the cave workers and then Richy, and now her…
I love you
I love you too, Jake
She started to feel dizzy, her skin tingled, and she realized that her breathing had become troubled. Is this a panic attack? I’ve never had one before. She stopped and put her hand on the wall to support her. She focused on her breathing, trying to get air to her lungs which were screaming of need. She then remembered her first aid class from the school, which had been many years ago. The instructor had told them that if person is speaking, she is breathing normally. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Maybe she should try it.
“Hello?” Her voice sounded stranded and weird, not like her own at all. “Jake? Can you hear me? It’s me, MC. I’ve done something stupid which probably makes you very mad at me, but I have come here looking for you.”
The darkness didn’t respond, and she could hear her own voice echoing on the empty tunnel walls. She had walked maybe 15 minutes in the tunnels now and kept marking her way out during the way with the stone piles.
“I really hope that you’re here, I came up with this glorious plan and wouldn’t want it to go to waste. So, I would appreciate some kind of sign it you are and I’m not talking to the ghosts you mentioned. That kind of signs are not needed, thank you.”
She kept talking and when she formed the words with her mouth, her breathing got paced regular and it seemed to help, at least her breathing wasn’t sounding so… barking anymore.
“You’re probably wondering why on earth I’m talking aloud alone, but this was something Mrs. Blunt teach us in the first aid class when I was in college. I swear that I am not trying to worry you, but I’ve come to the realization that I don’t like darkness, I don’t like tight spaces and I sure don’t like underground tunnels deep in the ground. I didn’t know that I was claustrophobic. Not a great timing for this kind of realization, I know.”
There still wasn’t any sign of Jake. She felt wetness on her cheeks and realized that she was crying.
“This is bad. I shouldn’t be crying, but I am so, so afraid this moment and I shouldn’t be. Everything is alright, everything is alright, everything is alright”, she repeated this mantra and looked at her feet because her sight seemed to get worst within minutes. Her feet were trembling now too. The tunnel was spinning, or was she spinning? She didn’t know, all she could hear was her heartbeat in her ears, which drummed so hard that she was sure it would break out from her rib cage in any minute now.
Her mantra got slurred, something was wrong in her mouth. Why couldn’t she move her tongue?
This was mistake. She had failed.
I love you
I love you too, Jake
She felt her feet starting to give away. Her hands didn’t work, and she would soon hit the floor in her face first. She closed her eyes and waited for the impact, which never came. Instead, she felt pressure on her sides and her body standing up.
“MC?” her voice sounded so weird and low. Was that even her voice? Why was she saying her own name? She wasn’t, her mouth didn’t work, didn’t she remember? She opened her eyes and saw another pair of feet in front of her. The pressure on her sides was someone’s hands. She wasn’t alone.
She screamed.
XXXXX >> Part two.
Author notes:
Well this is odd, to be actually writing again. I want to thank every single one of you who have read my previous stories and stayed with me while waiting the last episode to arrive.
About this story; I think we deserved to know, what happened to Jake in the tunnels. I did cut some obstacles in this story, like I'm pretty sure that my distraction for FBI wouldn't work like that at all, but lets pretend it was a master plan.
I'm myself extremely claustrophobic especially if the closed spaces are underground and my worst nightmare would be cave exploring or cave diving (seriously, what the hell??), so therefore it was very logical to me write MC claustrophobic as well. I would have been super terrified to go down in some mines. :D
Again, English isn't my native language so there are mistakes, bear with me!
Enjoy!
I would appreciate a lot if you would like to leave me a comment. *3*
Next chapter is >> UP!

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 // Duskwood one-shot
• Jake's POV // no spoilers • Genre: (kinda sorta) single character hurt/comfort, everyday live. • Words: 1k
✦ ┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄ ✦
With great focus and attention, Jake closed the apartment door, turning the knob ever so gently to ensure a quiet shut. The oppressive heat of the day was finally beginning to subside, replaced by a cooler, refreshing breeze. He took a deep breath of this fresh, crispy air that invigorated his senses, brushing against his face and tousling his hair as he glanced back at the door.
It was getting dark. As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the pavement, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him. As he stood on the doorstep, the dim glow of the newly illuminated streetlights cast an amber hue on the doormat beneath his feet. The sounds of the bustling city beyond reached his ears, a reminder that life was still happening all around him.
Strange.
In that very simple moment he actually felt a lot of things. The emotions that had been trapped inside him, like a deep lake beneath a sheet of thick, very hard ice, were finally beginning to surface. And when the door closed with a very soft click, the little spark that had been in him for some time, turned into a warm, soft, calm fire.
He smiled to himself as he let go of the doorknob.
Another step behind him.
He had been living as a free man for several years and his life was much more peaceful than it had ever been before. However, as he looked at the number 14 on the apartment door one last time, he thought to himself, no. This was not what he had imagined freedom should be like.
It wasn't freedom. It wasn't something worth... fighting for. There was nothing that would make him hesitate to close that door. He paused for a moment, still staring at that silly number as his mind wandered far away.
He was sure she cared for him... in her own unique way.
He didn't notice anything... malfunctioning at first. He loved her. After all, she was the one who gave him hope again! For her, only for her, he left his old lifestyle behind and wanted to change... for the better.
Was he better, though?
After their first, innocent fight, he thought that perhaps the stresses of everyday life had gotten to them. They had met under rather unusual circumstances, after all. People fight; there was nothing unusual in that, but... not like this. Jake couldn't help but wonder if they were two people who were desperately trying to make something work that was never meant to be. What had brought them together had simply ceased to exist, and slowly but surely, it stopped working.
It stopped working for him.
He smiled wryly as he realized she might not even realize he was gone. She wouldn't notice that all his things had disappeared... well, to be honest, there wasn't much anyway. The apartment still felt like hers. It was as if the walls themselves still belonged to her, and he was merely a guest in her domain. They had been living together for several years, yet he never quite felt at home there.
It took him a long time to realize that.
Much too long.
He chuckled to himself, recalling all the ridiculous moments he had simply given up. The times when he allowed himself to be pushed around or did things he didn't want to do. The times when he let her make him feel like he was nothing. Make him feel likea very insignificant part of her life.
They were brought together by a very big event, but it was a number of very small, commonplace, trite things that tore them apart.
Isn't it how it always works?
He had not expected that. Each and every day, his words like static on a screen to her, a noise she heard but didn't really listen to. And at the same time, she expected too much... much more than he could give her.
She only wanted him when she needed him, yet when he needed her, she was nowhere to be found. At first, he thought it was his fault - he even laughed at the idea that his secretive, introverted nature pushed her away from him and made her withdraw.
But he was wide open.
She knew his every weakness and took advantage of it. She forgot about his strengths.
It was her mistake.
One of many.
Jake knew he was good at a couple of things. Not every one of them was useful in his everyday life, though. Escaping was always one of his skills. He knew how to disappear completely without being found by anyone. Except... he knew it wasn't an actual escape. He wasn't really running away. He was simply... letting go.
Turning his back to the door, he took a deep breath and resisted the urge to glance at it one last time.
Another step done.
He wondered how quickly it would take her to notice he was gone. Well... this time he made sure she would notice him quickly... or rather the lack of him.
She didn't know the new wifi password, after all.
She didn't know the new alarm code.
She also had no idea how to change those.
He was never really vindictive... well, maybe a little. Or maybe a lot, but only in some, particular cases.
Perhaps he messed up with every single device they had in the apartment he could.
The one last farewell present for her, to simply remember him by.
Maybe old Jake was talking through him a little. The one he forgot about. That guy had a lot of issues, but he never let anyone treat him like she did.
Seeing her face would be priceless, as she tries to figure it all out.
He petted the neighbor's cheerful, friendly dog for the last time.
Then he adjusted his backpack, threw away his keys, and put on his hood before coming down the last step onto the pavement.
It hadn't been easy, but he finally did it.
And just like that, he was free. After being sidetracked for so long, he had finally regained his focus.
Although he had been a free man for several years, he now felt like he was getting his life back - a true sense of freedom.

Revelations
[JJ Maybank × Reader]
Tumblr media
summary: the one where jj maybank realizes what everyone has been saying this whole time.
pairing: jj maybank × fem!reader
word count: 1.9K
warnings/content: just a tiny bit of angst in the beginning; wholesome moments with the pogues; mentions of being in a boat? if that bothers you; slight misunderstanding; kiara playing cupid; soft JJ ™; some kissing; friends to lovers typa vibe.
A/N: this one's been sitting on my drafts for a while and I decided to post it. FORGIVE MY GRAMMAR, it hasn't been my strongest day I'm still grieving duskwood.
➶ ➷
You haven't been alright for a few days now. Some things happening at home that you had no control of but the blame still fell on you. And there was nothing you could do about it. But your mind wandered to the worst king of places. Except for when your friends were around. Then, your brain gave you a bit of a rest.
“Whatcha' thinking, huh?” Kiara nudged your shoulder playfully. You were on the HMS Pogue, smoking a joint to relax after class. The boys would meet you there soon.
Accepting the stick, you inhaled the substance slowly, closing your eyes. You wanted to forget every problem you had that day. But it was just so hard.
“If I did well on the math test.” You lied swiftly. You got that skill from your mother.
Kiara gave you a judgemental look, pulling the joint from your fingers as if that had been some kind of offense towards her.
“Right. Only you would be thinking about school stuff while we're out here away from that hell hole.”
You smiled sadly and leaned your cheek on her shoulder. “I'm so tired, Kie.” You said, letting out a sigh.
An arm wrapped around you gently, “You wanna take a nap on me? Just lay down.”
Not that kind of tired.
Although you did lay down. As soon as your head was on her lap you fell into a light slumber, with the sound of calm waves dancing in your ears.
It seemed you were that kind of tired, because when the boys arrived yelling profanities at each other like usual you didn't even acknowledged them.
JJ's grin only widened as he saw you were present. When his feet landed on the boat, he immediately went towards your sleeping frame.
Kiara mentioned for him to not bother you.
He rolled his eyes, crouching down next to you. “Hi, princess.” He said quietly, observing your calm features. He smoothed down the slightest crease in your forehead, careful not to wake you up. He knew things hadn't been great at home and therefore you should be enjoying every piece of peace you had. Leaving a longing kiss on your cheek, he stood up and moved closer to the boys again.
Pope was still staring at him when he approached them; a look being exchanged between him, Kiara and John B.
“What are you lookin' at?” JJ pushed, frowning at Pope's weird expression. He turned to his other best friend once he heard a laugh. “What's happening? Am I missing the joke here?”
Kiara mumbled something he couldn't hear and John B. made sure to keep laughing.
“You're in love with her. That's what's happening.” Pope said plainly, sitting down on the deck of the boat. “Can't even disguise it in the slightest.”
JJ scoffed at him in disbelief. Now it has just gotten to another level. The pogues mocked him about having a crush on you— alright. He even admitted it once. Because who wouldn't have a crush on you? Have they even taken a look at you? Kiara had a thing for you for a while, too. It wasn't that weird. You were friends. Friends could have crushes on each other. But being in love? Too much. Definitely.
JJ tried to convince himself that this wasn't his case. He wasn't that too far gone for you..... was he?
He looked at the other two to see if they shared the same thought on the matter. By their faces, they certainly did. God, what?!
“Shut the fuck up, Pope.” He snarled helplessly, frowning as he struggled to open the bear bottle.
“Wanna help with that, pretty thing?” You questioned, letting out a yawn due to just have woken up. That was a good nap, at least. JJ swallowed dry when you came closer and pulled the bear away from his hands.
Well, he might as well be too far gone. There was no way no one wouldn't fall for your little actions or your spontaneous way of be.
Hooked on the top of your jeans laid a keychain with a tin opener. You have gained it from him a while ago and that never left your clothes whenever you went to. It was always helpful, somehow. Which was the only reason you carried it with you, not because it reminded you of JJ, of course. “There. You still suck at opening those, by the way.” You mocked, poking his sunburned cheek as you walked towards Pope and sat beside him on the deck to watch the sunset.
“Close your mouth, you don't want to catch flies.” John B. said to him, chugging down his beer as he jumped to the conductor's area of the boat.
“Hey, lover boy.” Kiara greeted as JJ rested by her side. He groaned in response. “You should say something to her.”
JJ stared at her as if she was crazy, “What? And what should I say exactly, Kie? All of you took that crappy weed from last time, didn't you? Cause it only could be it. Not in love with anyone here.”
Kiara shrugged; she kind of expected the denial coming from him. Just like it came from her. “Sure. There's just some things you can't change, JJ.”
He gave her a sideways glance.
“Like the things she tells only you. Not even me. You know how many secrets she kept from me just this week? Oh, at least a thousand.” Kiara huffed out a laugh, leaning back on the body of the boat to feel the sun on her skin. “But I just know she's told you everything and I don't even have to ask. It's just by looking at you guys to see. You share something that... Well, friends don't share that something.”
The blond boy almost spit out his drink, “We're not macking on each other, Kiara.” He hissed, eyeing the deck to see if you or Pope had listened to anything. No. Your head was resting against Pope's shoulder and his cheek on the top of your head. Something in JJ's chest pinched.
“I know you're not.” She rolled her eyes. “But don't you want to?” Kiara didn't need his answer to know it.
That got him by surprise and he averted his blue eyes elsewhere, sipping on the bottle to prevent from answering.
Kiara smirked. “You sly motherfucker!” She kicked his knee to force him to look at her. “Just act on it, JJ. What's wrong with you? So straightforward usually.”
He watched the pair on the front of the boat once again before shaking his head. He wouldn't deny it anymore. At least not to Kie. She was pretty high, he noticed. She would forget this conversation by tomorrow morning.
“It's different.” I've-never-felt-this before-different. Jesus, what was that, a fucking fairytale? He might as well gain wings now. “She's not interested anyway.”
“Don't be crazy.”
“Look at that,” JJ lifted Kiara's chin in yours and Pope's direction. You were talking quietly about something, probably a new formula to save the world from a still-not-found-disease. “Tell me how I have a chance, Kie.” He averted his attention towards the sea.
Kiara slapped his thigh, which made him let out a sound of pain. When he looked at her to ask what on earth was that, she had a wavering finger pointed to him. JJ narrowed his eyes at her trying to be serious while clearly being high.
“They're like siblings, you idiot. How can you even...” She trailed off, shaking her head. “She doesn't like him like that either.”
JJ perked up at that, “What do you mean?”
Kiara waved him off and went back laying down on the wooden bench.
“Kie,” He frowned. “Kie.” He whined, nudging her leg. “What do you mean?”
Kiara didn't wake up for a while, and it wasn't long until you were alone on the deck, enjoying the sunlight in your body. Your feet hanging out of the boat. You loved that feeling of freedom. This environment was the perfect distraction you needed from home.
“Hi,” You felt something being pressed against your head and opened your eyes. JJ had sat right beside you, one leg crossed over as the other hung out of the boat just like yours. His hair was a bit wild because of the wind and the missing hat that usually held it back in place.
You adjusted his cap on your head, making a salute gesture to him.
“Hello, pretty thing. How are you?” You asked the blond, turning your body slightly towards him. Almost subconsciously, that was what always happened.
“I'm in paradise,” JJ exclaimed, pointing to their surroundings with his head.“...so I'm great, princess. You?”
You grinned at his response, “Same as you, baby.” You took the liberty to slide closer to the boy, pulling your legs over his. JJ leaned back, fingers grazing your tight softly as he looked at the horizon.
Every time your attention would drift to the same place: his eyes. It was unconscious, you'd caught yourself studying his bright blue orbs which were so full of emotion and always glinted with something. You loved JJ Maybank's eyes. Mostly because they revealed everything about him.
JJ could feel his side profile burn and he turned to you, who quickly looked away with a scrunch of your nose. You were embarrassed that he caught you staring.
His grin widened and he leaned down closer to you “Like what you see, princess?”
“You had an eyelash on your cheek...”
“Oh, did I?” He pretended to be impressed, “Take it out then. Let's make a wish together.”
You rolled your eyes heavily, pushing him playfully. “I wish for you to shut the hell up, Maybank.”
“But you love my voice.” He pouted, tilting his head and causing light blonde strands to fell in his eyes. You shook your head with a small smile.
You raised your fingers, brushing his locks back carefully. “I do love it, but that doesn't make you any less annoying.”
A smirk grew on his lips as he leaned on your touch slightly, “Mhm.”
“JJ,” You whispered, drawing his nose with your pointer finger until it reached his mouth. “Can I ask you something?”
His heart skipped a beat.
“Sure.”
You straightened your back to be able to reach him better, hands finding their way to the nape of his neck. Your body moved on its own now.
“If I kissed you now... What would you do?”
“You have to ask?” He croaked out, eyes not leaving your lips in a daze.
Smiling, you finally closed any line of space you had between you two. His lips were soft against yours, moving in a slow rhythm. He tasted like mint and cheap bear. And the feeling of his hands on your neck, pulling you closer, made your stomach do little flips.
Whistles and yelling took you out of your moment, causing you to split apart against your will for simple curiosity. You shouldn't have.
Behind you was John B. and Kiara laughing like crazy, tinting their bear bottles, as a disappointed Pope passed the money to them. He was still smiling a little.
“They made a bet on us, didn't they?” You asked, turning back to JJ and burying your face in his neck. His chest vibrated in a chuckle as his arms embraced you slowly, he wanted to feel closer. Your body warmth soon matched his.
“Yeah, princess.” He left a kiss on exposed neck, causing you to shiver slightly. “They so did a bet on us.”
After a while he yelled back to the three, “And we want half of it!”

take me by the hand
Pairing: Jake x Fem!MC
Genre: Hurt / Comfort, Post-Episode 10
Summary: Following the reveal of The Man Without The Face, MC is a little too worried about Jake. So she does the only reasonable thing she can think of. Heads to Duskwood to find him.
EPISODE-10 SPOILERS AHEAD!
[ A/N: Hello :)
I just started this blog to talk about my love for Jake / post fanfics I might have written after / during my playthrough of Duskwood. So if you would like to talk about the game / Episode 10 / theories / anything at all, feel free to send me a message / ask :)
Anyway, this is a fanfic I wrote Post-Episode 10. ]
I love you.
The realization hit me a little later than it probably should have, but I did. I loved Jake. Perhaps I knew before. No. I definitely knew before. Jake had told me he didn’t trust easily. He hadn’t. Not until me. Even then, it took time to break down his walls. Get him to trust me. Enough to tell me his name. That Hannah and Lilly were his sisters. His whereabouts. That he loved me.
What if that was the last thing we said to each other?
After everything—everything we’d been through, after Richy, after Jake’s promise to meet me in Duskwood when all of this was over—we were so close. So close. We had risked too much for it to end like this. He had protected me too much. And if—if he didn’t make it out of there, I would have nobody to blame but myself. After all, he had gone into the mine in my place. Gone into the mine to find Hannah, but Alan found Hannah and Jake was—No. I couldn’t think like that. It had only been minutes. Minutes since I’d heard Richy tell Jessy he’d been the MWAF. Minutes since Jessy’s cries had died down in my head. Since my own cries had died down.
Richy. Who I’d considered a friend. Who I’d mourned when he died. Who I’d told to go comfort Jessy when she was attacked by the Man Without A Face. Who I’d like I was responsible for. If I had only begged him a little harder not to go into the woods—but no. No. He was the one behind it all. He was the one who had kidnapped Hannah. Who drove Amy to her death. Who lied to the people who trusted him. Who betrayed us. And now—
Suddenly, a message on my phone came through.
CLEO: Richy’s dead.
My heart skipped a beat.
DAN: What?
CLEO: There was a fire. Explosion.
CLEO: Suicide, they think.
I leaned my head back against the wall. Richy was dead. I didn’t know how to feel. I didn’t know if I wanted him to make it. If I thought it’d be easier. He had asked if I believed he was sorry, but my answer remained the same. I didn’t know. I didn’t think I could forgive him either way. But I did care about him. I did consider him a friend.
Jake.
My head snapped up. Jake was in the mine. Well, maybe. He told me he would text me when he made it out. My phone showed he was still offline. No time to panic. He would be nowhere near Richy. But—Jake was the one who told me the mine was in danger of collapsing. And even if he made it out, who was to say he wouldn’t be caught the minute he did? Alan was right. There was no way the FBI were there for Hannah. And they had probably placed men at every exit. He had promised me he wouldn’t be caught, but how sure could he be? How could he possibly know the next move they’d make when he was trapped in a crumbling mine with no phone service. A stray tear slipped down my face. If Jake didn’t make it—I would bring Richy back to kill him myself.
Your fault, my head screamed.
I love you.
I love you, too.
“Come on, Jake.” I whispered harshly. “Don’t do this to me.”
Jake is offline.
Shit.
Maybe it had only been a few minutes, but it felt like hours. Felt like he should have been out of that mine already. Felt like he should have been texting me to reassure me he was fine. That he’d made it out. That they hadn’t caught him and that we would see each other soon.
I needed to see him.
I needed him to take me into his arms and reassure me the way I had wanted him to since we had first started this thing. Sure, at first, he was a little suspicious. Maybe suspicious wasn’t the right word to use. Just…cautious. Like he didn’t trust people. But I had broken down his walls. Gotten to know him. Gotten to fall in love with him. I didn’t care that I didn’t know what he looked like or that I’d never heard his voice or that he was wanted by the government. I’d fallen in love with him—with who he was.
And he loved me back.
Well. Apparently, Jake didn’t know one thing about me. It would only take a few hours for me to get to Duskwood. I’d looked it up on my maps at the start of all of this—before Jake had begged me not to go. He would probably be mad at me. It didn’t matter. His life was in danger. That was something worth breaking a promise for. Besides, if I got to see him—I would take his anger and frustration with a smile. Kiss it off of his face.
I took a deep breath and texted the group back.
ME: They haven’t found anybody else, have they?
LILLY: No, [MC].
I didn’t know whether to be relieved or cry.
Well.
Forgive me, Jake.
But I’m going to Duskwood a bit early.
———————————————————————
The road to the Grimrock Waterfall was crawling with numbers of police. The aftermath was still fresh. I assumed Hannah was long gone, probably settled into the hospital with her friends by her side. I’d visit her eventually. Maybe I’d figure out how I knew her. If I even did. Perhaps she had sent the wrong number. Maybe Richy had set us up. Maybe I would just have to live with the not knowing.
It didn’t matter, anyway.
Hannah was safe. Richy was dead. If I repeated it enough times in my head, maybe I could make it sound true. Make the nightmare we’ve been living in go away. Maybe I wouldn’t have to look over my shoulder every five seconds, wondering if someone was watching me. If I would be the next victim. Maybe we would be free to live now.
I could have been in there. In the mine. Blindly feeling my way around. Maybe I would have met Richy at the waterfall. And then…would he have killed me? Maybe I would’ve seen his face and he would’ve taken me hostage too. Drugged me and put me on a never-ending video loop to play for Jake and the others.
A figure caught my eye by one of the trees. My breath hitched for a split second until I realized it wasn’t who I thought it was. But it was somebody. I made my way over, stuffing my hands in the pockets of my sweater. For late-May, it was surprisingly cool outside.
“Thought you’d be at the hospital.”
The figure turned. Wheels squeaked underneath him. “Too many people right now. Figured that I would…” He motioned down at the wheelchair. “This was as far as I could go. Think they would kill me for tryin’ to go further anyway. What are you doing here?”
I shook my head. “Don’t know yet.”
“I don’t know if I believe it.” Dan shook his head. “Richy. Didn’t think he could hurt anyone. To know that…and I was the one who—”
“You can’t think like that.” I responded. “Dan, he would’ve hurt somebody. You were just doing what you thought was best. Nobody can blame you for that. Besides, he had plenty of time to get help before he died. He did this to himself.”
He hummed. “Maybe.”
“How’s Jessy?”
“Went to the hospital with the others. She wanted to be alone, but I don’t think anyone was ready to let her. They were close, you know. Always felt like I had to compete with him for her. I think she would have picked him in the end.”
“She cares about you, Dan.” I promised. Then, after a minute: “And Hannah?”
“Thomas said she’s as okay as she can be. Think she’s more in shock than injured. To be held by someone you trusted, someone you considered a friend, that’s rough. It’ll take time. I think she’s also dealing with the fact that everyone knows about Jennifer now.”
“It doesn’t matter,” I reminded him. “It doesn’t make what Richy did right.”
“Yeah.” He shrugged. “You think he’s still here?”
“I don’t know where he is,” I answered. “He said he would let me know when he was out. It says he’s been offline for hours but…I don’t know.”
“You plan on staying here?”
I shrugged. “Probably, at least for the night. Guess we’ll see where it gets us. Don’t think I could sleep much either way. I still feel like I’m being watched. Like Michael’s going to turn up at any moment and say it was all a joke. That it was him.”
“I think that would be too easy.”
I smiled weakly. “Probably.” My smile faded. “Dan? I’m sorry, about—”
“I shouldn’t have asked.” He waved a hand. “I know I’m not the first person to. I knew you were involved with Hackerman. Just hoped you weren’t. But it makes sense. The truth is, I don’t have a reason to dislike him. Just think you could do better than a life like that.”
“I have my demons too, Dan.” I told him. “Besides—I think I would go anywhere in the world if it was with him. We can still have that movie night, though.”
He grinned. “I look forward to it.”
“I don’t know why I came,” I crossed my arms over my chest and rubbed them, suddenly feeling like an idiot. “He’s not coming out here, no matter what. There’s cops everywhere. I just thought he would text me and I could find him or—sounds like one of those stupid romcom movies now that I think about it.”
“Maybe stupid romcoms are your thing.”
“No, they’re not.” I laughed.
“Maybe they are,” He said again. “Don’t you wonder something?”
“You’re going to have to be more specific.”
He looked up at me. “That guy over there’s been glaring at us for ten minutes.”
My heart skipped a beat. My head snapped up to where Dan’s head was tilted toward the edge of the woods. There was a figure, hidden just enough that you wouldn’t be able to see them without actually looking for them. Their dark attire blended into the trees. Their face was tilted down and hidden beneath their black hood. Still, I could tell that Dan was right. Their posture was rigid and stiff. Turned toward us like they were unhappy. At first, I thought it was Michael, maybe coming to laugh and tell us that it was him all along, that he had framed and killed Richy and that he was coming to kill me next.
But then my phone buzzed.
Jake is online.
No. No way. All of the emotion I felt inside of me came bursting out at once. Tears poured down my face no matter how furiously I wiped at them. Jake was alive. He was alive. And Hannah was safe. And Richy was dead. Richy was the MWAF. Michael wasn’t coming back from the dead to tell us it was him. And I hadn’t cried about that yet. No. I had. I had cried while I was on the call with Richy. Watching him bleed out from a gunshot wound. I’d cried as I watched Jessy come to terms with the realization. I’d cried when I realized I didn’t know if Jake was okay or captured or if he was dead and I would never see him again. I cried during all of it.
But not like this. I hadn’t felt my limbs shake with each gasping breath as I realized that my final words to Richy had been nothing but resentment. As I realized just how serious the situation was and that never seeing Jake again was an actual possibility. And yet—here he was. And that made me sob harder. The guy who loved me was standing there, and all I could think to do was cry and shake because drawing attention to him would cause them to find him and I could not handle that when I just got him back.
“Please do not pass out on me.” Dan warned. “It’ll be really hard to catch you.”
Somehow, that made me feel worse. I sniffled and wiped at my eyes, feeling incredibly weak and stupid for someone who just realized the guy she’d drove two hours to see was actually alive and not dead. My phone buzzed in my hand.
JAKE: I told you I would contact you when I got out.
JAKE: Please do not cry.
I snorted slightly. Yet—it gave me more comfort than anything had in a long time. To know that we did it. That we found the culprit. Sure, it was someone we trusted, and sure, we lost someone we considered a friend tonight, but it was over.
JAKE: Come here.
I looked down at my phone and then back at the hooded figure. I didn’t want to risk it, but when I saw him take a step toward me, I gave in and hurried toward him without even a quick goodbye to Dan. It was okay. He’d understand. I plowed into the figure at full force, nearly knocking him off of his feet and burying my face in his neck.
He was the perfect height. The kind where my head fit perfectly against him, where I could hear his pounding heart against my own, feel his face buried in my hair. I probably looked a mess but I didn’t care. I tightened my grip around him, burying my tears in his hoodie and soaking it with my face.
“Jake—”
“It’s okay,” he whispered back.
Oh. His voice was soothing. The kind you could fall asleep to. The kind you knew you were safe around. He kissed the top of my head and I melted. I remembered when I watched Richy die, the first time. I told Jake I wished he could take me in his arms. Much like he’d done now that Richy was actually gone.
I pulled back to look at him, reaching up to cup my hands around his cheeks. He moved his head to look at me and I got a glimpse of him for the first time. And—hell—he was handsome. I knew he would be but seeing it for myself was a whole different experience. The moon reflected off of his face and lit up his eyes, the soft reflection in them that gave me butterflies like I was back in school again. He gave me a soft smile.
“Hi,” He whispered.
I smiled. “You kept your promise.”
“I told you I would.”
I tightened myself around him again. Like, maybe, now that he was here, all my worries could go away. It didn’t work. Still, it was a nice thought.
“Did you read the group messages?”
He shook his head. “Haven’t had the time.”
“Richy’s dead.”
His hands around me stilled. “Oh. [MC], I am so sorry.”
“Jake, we were wrong.” The words felt weird on my tongue. “Michael wasn’t the MWAF. It was Richy. He—he kidnapped Hannah.”
“What?”
I shook my head. “I don’t feel as relieved as I should.”
He pressed another kiss to the top of my head. “I’m here now.”
“Will you tell me again?” I begged.
“Tell you what?”
I pulled back to whack him lightly across the chest. “You know what,” I told him softly. “I have to hear you say it.”
“I love you.” He tilted my chin up so he could press our lips together. It was short and sweet and made me crave more. There would be time for that later. “I would do anything for you.”
“Yeah, we have to talk about that.” I warned him. “We’re going to have to compromise. I cannot have you risking your life for me whenever you feel like it.” He laughed softly.
“We’ll talk about it.” He hummed. “So, you still want a life with me?”
I smiled. “Jake?”
“Hm.”
“I love you, too.”

Jealousy vs Trust
A/N: Hi guys! This one is a long one shot about Jake and MC. Hopefully you'll like it.
Warning: Language
MC and Jake have been dating for over a year now. Everything went well after Hannah was found. MC decided to stay in Duskwood because this is where her heart is, with her friends and the man she loves. Jake was able to clear his name and was offered a job by the FBI. At first, he wanted to refuse but MC was able to convince him. After a lot of persuation, he agreed and accepted the job. It's a great opportunity after all now that he's starting a new life with MC by his side. MC and Jake made a big step on their relationship when they decided to live together. They bought a beautiful apartment where they can live comfortably together.
Both MC and Jake's career have been doing great. Jake always receives a recognition because he's been a great FBI agent while MC just recently got promoted as a product manager after a year of working in her new company. Everything was going great but this made their time together lesser. Once they both come home from work, they're both exhausted and don't have time to still go on dinner dates like they used to. Weekends are nothing different. Even though they're both on day off, MC's still so busy doing work and Jake just let her be because he sees that MC is happy with her career. Of course he missed her, he missed those weekends where they just cuddle together all day or went on a short trip where they have so much fun. But Jake doesn't want to be the reason for MC to sacrifice her career. He supports her so much.
It was a Saturday afternoon when Jake informed MC that he had to go to a store to buy new parts for his computers. Yes, Jake still love computers but he's no longer using them for illegal hacking but for making his job as an agent better. He went to MC to kiss her goodbye. MC just nodded because as usual, she's still busy with work. After a few hours, MC decided to take a break. She went to the kitchen to grab some drink but when she opened their ref, she was shocked that it was almost empty. She realized that she wasn't able to do grocery shopping for 2 weeks now. She didn't notice because she and Jake no longer cook meals but they just order everytime ever since she got so busy with work after her promotion. She cursed herself for not realizing that she wasn't able to take care of this. She decided to go to the supermarket to buy everything that they needed. Both her and Jake have their own cars so it's not difficult to go to one place even though the other one has gone somewhere. Jake also has a motorbike but MC never tried to drive it.
After a few minutes, MC arrived at the supermarket. She grabbed a big cart because she knew that she will need to buy a lot of things. MC was about to text Jake to ask him if there's anything he wanted when she realized that she left her phone in her car. She went to get it. When she's back in the supermarket, she opened her phone to send a text to Jake. She saw that he had messaged her a few minutes ago. Jake told her that he'll be back a little later since he decided to pass by the supermarket to buy things for them. MC felt happy that Jake still thought on doing this but guilty at the same time. She was going to text Jake to inform him that she's also in the supermarket and they can do the shopping together. There's just one supermarket where they usually buy their groceries so MC was sure that this is where Jake is. She felt excited because it has been a long time since they did grocery shopping together. When she was about to send her message, her eyes suddenly caught someone familiar. It was Jake. He's standing somewhere on the dairy section talking to someone. A young looking beautiful woman. He was all smiles while talking to her and it's the same with the woman. They seem to enjoy the conversation and from MC's perception, they were flirting with each other. MC was filled with jealousy and anger. Her hands started to shake. She wanted to storm her way to them but she didn't want to make a scene. She just left the supermarket and drove her way home.
After a few hours, Jake arrived at their apartment with all the groceries that he bought. He looked for MC but she's nowhere to be found. He checked his phone to see if she texted him but nothing. He started to feel worried. MC is not like this. Everytime she has to go somewhere, she always informs him. Jake decided to do something that he hasn't done for a long time. After everything that happened, Jake was sure that they're no longer in danger but maybe he was wrong. Maybe his past still caught up to them. He decided to track MC's phone. He went to his computer. He felt so anxious while waiting for the data to load, but when MC's location appeared, he didn't know what to feel. Should he be angry, disappointed? No. Maybe MC has a valid explanation why she went to the Aurora. Maybe Jessy was there and there had been an emergency that's why she forgot to text him. All these thoughts filled Jake's mind. He decided to go to the Aurora to know what's happening.
When Jake arrived at the Aurora and saw MC, he felt anger. She was there, sitting at the bar counter, drinking while talking to Phil. He stormed his way to her.
Jake: What the fuck MC?! I have been worried about you but you're just here getting drunk while having fun with this jerk.
Phil: Hey! Watch your mouth dude. I am MC's friend and you're at my bar.
Jake: I don't care who you are and where am I.
Phil: MC, I'll leave the two of you. Call me if you need help.
Jake: And why would she need help when she's with me, her boyfriend?!
Phil: I don't know. From what I see, you're the one acting like a jerk towards her.
Phil then left while Jake just glared at him.
Jake: MC, care to explain to me what's happening?
MC: Me explain? I think it's you who has some explaining to do!
Jake: What? What are you saying MC? I don't understand.
MC: Oh for fuck's sake Jake! Just fucking admit it!
Jake: Admit what MC?!
MC: I saw you Jake. You were flirting with that young beautiful woman in the supermarket. You were all smiles while talking to her. Did you enjoy her company? Did you get her number? Did you want to fuck her?!
Jake: Oh god MC! You don't know what you're saying! Do you really think I will do that to you?
MC: I maybe drunk but I know what I'm saying! Why Jake? Is it because I don't have time for you? Is it because I was so busy working and wasn't able to take care of you? Tell me Jake. Is that the reason why you find another woman.
MC started to cry and it breaks Jake's heart. But Jake doesn't know what breaks his heart more, is it MC crying because of him, or is it because she doesn't trust him?
Jake: MC please, let's just go home and talk about this.
MC: Yes, go home, talk about this, and end things.
MC stood from her seat but because she was so drunk, she passed out. Jake was able to catch her before she could fall on the floor. He carried her out of the Aurora. People were staring at them but he didn't care. Jake did his best to get MC's keys from her bag while still carrying her. He managed to open the car and put MC on the passenger seat. He just walked going to Aurora because even though he wanted to believe that MC was not there to drink, he still anticipated that this could happen. Once Jake put MC's seatbelt and made sure that she's settled, he drove their way home. It was the same struggle carrying MC inside the house. Once he reached their room, he carefully put MC to bed. He took off her heels and managed to change her clothes into something comfortable. He then went downstairs to grab a glass of water and put it on the bedside table with some aspirin. He knew MC will need this when she wakes up tomorrow.
It was already 11 am when MC went out of their bedroom. She already took a shower and already refreshed. Jake woke up early and stayed in his study while waiting for MC to wake up. Jake also went out from his study when she saw MC in the kitchen.
Jake: Are you now in the right mind to talk to me?
MC: As far as I can remember, we already talked about this last night.
Jake: But you were drunk last night, MC!
MC: Drunk or not, I saw what I saw and it was clear to me.
Jake: No, MC! What you saw was not right! What you thought was not right!
MC: Then tell me what was it Jake! Tell me why you were so happy talking to that bitch!
Jake: You know MC, you were the reason why I was so happy talking to that woman because I was talking to her about you. I was all smiles because of you. When I went to grab some ingredients for baking, she asked me a question because she wanted to bake a cake for his boyfriend. I answered her but I couldn't help to remember when you made me a cake for my birthday. Without me realizing, I started to share with her all the amazing things you did for me. How you made me so happy and feel loved. She was so happy listening to me. She complimented you a lot and hoped that someday she can aslo do everything you did to me to his boyfriend. MC, I love you so much. I will never do something to betray you. But you know, it hurts that you don't trust me.
MC just stood there and didn't know what to say. She felt so guilty. Now her heart is breaking knowing that he broke Jake's heart, the man who loves her so much. Tears started to fall from her eyes.
Jaked wiped his own tears with the back of his hands. He grabbed his jacket and motorbike keys and quickly put on his shoes. He stormed out from their apartment and drove his motorbike.
When Jake left, MC fell to the floor and started to sob. Did she lost Jake because of her stupid jealousy? Because of her insecurities?
Jake went driving around Duskwood. He always do this everytime he wanted to breathe some fresh air but the difference is, MC is not with him. He stopped by the Blackwater Lake to think about everything. Suddenly, he received a message and when he opened it, it was from MC.
MC: I am so sorry Jake. I am so sorry that I hurt you and broke your heart. It's not that I don't trust you. My insecurities and past traumas from my past relationship got the best of me. I thought you felt neglected by me because I was so busy with work. I wasn't able to take care of you and myself. I am so stupid Jake. I understand if you wanted to leave me but know that I love you so so much. You're the best thing that ever happened to me.
After Jake finished reading MC's message, he closed his phone and did not reply. He started to reminisce all the happy memories he have with MC.
It was already past 12 am when Jake went home. Once he was inside the house, he saw MC on the couch sleeping. The dining table then caught his attention. All his favorite food was there and there were lit candles. MC cooked and prepared all this for him. He went to MC and lowered himself in front of her. He knew MC had been crying until she fell asleep. He brushed his nose to hers. MC suddenly woke up because of this touch. MC sat herself on the couch.
MC: Jake, you're back?
Jake: I am. Do you really think you can convince me by cooking all my favorite food?
MC: N-no. But... I thought I'll do it for you for the last time.
Jake: For the last time? You're wrong with that Ms. You will be cooking my favorite food forever.
MC: You're not leaving me?
Jake: Why would I leave the woman I love the most?
MC: Because that woman was stupid and broke your heart.
Jake: No MC, don't say that you're stupid because you are not. It's true that you broke my heart but you're the one who can fix this. I love you so much and my love for you is greater than your mistakes.
MC: I'm really sorry Jake. I love you so much! I don't deserve you. ( MC started to cry again. )
Jake wiped MC's tears with his hands and caressed her cheeks.
Jake: Stop crying now my love. You deserve me. We deserve each other. You're the best thing that happened to me. You're the reason why I am living this happy life right now. You're my life, you're my everything. So stop torturing yourself. Let's start again with stronger love for each other. Do you want that?
MC: Yes Jake, I want that! I love you and I thank God everyday that he gave you to me.
Jake cupped MC's face and kissed her deeply. MC kissed him back. They both needed that kiss after everything that happened.
Jake: So will you feed me now my love? I have been starving.
MC smiled at him. She grabbed his hand and made their way to the dining table.
A/N: Sorry if the last part was a bit cheesy. I'm not good at putting the best words to show how much Jake and MC love each other.

Duskwood boys – their favorite way to pick up/carry you around.
Characters: Jake, Richy, Dan & Thomas
A/n: Tumblr suggested a post about this topic, so I was inspired by it and it’s not my idea. Unfortunately I lost the post so the credits for the idea go to the person. But I like this kind of writing and I wanted to do it for Duskwood, I wanted to start something like this for a long time. So if you have ideas that go in that direction, my requests are open for it. I hope everything is understandable and you like it. Have fun. 💚
Tumblr media
Jake
Definitely piggyback but from the front. Hands under your butt to lift you up so that you can/ must wrap your legs around his hips, as well as your arms around his shoulders, and he can feel your body as close as possible to his. It it Jake, it makes him feel like you need him to protect you. He wanted to be your savior as always and it made him feel like he was. He could also keep an eye on you. Whether on you, on your figure, or someone else approached you, even if it was not possible in your apartment. But after such a long time on the run, he was a little paranoid. He could observe every little emotional change in your eyes on the spot and immediately take care of any discomfort on your part or similar. Besides, he was addicted to your kisses and that way he could perfectly combine both. But also, of course, bridal style was one of his go-to’s. He loves to carry you on hands in any situation, and this position allowed it almost literally. You were everything and you deserved to be treated like a royal.
Tumblr media
Richy
Oh, he definitely loved taking you piggyback style, like a little backpack. Richy was quite and perfectly the most playful and funny. So he loved to piggyback you and then run with you. He loved hearing your laughter and the fun you have together. In addition, he enjoys the feeling when you have to completely cling to him. After all, this way he doesn’t have so many possibilities to hold you. So most of it to not fall down has to come from you, and he loved how much you trust him to still not let you fall and hold on to him. But Richy was also a fan of 'over the shoulder', also here, it was a very playful gesture and thanks to his job he had more muscles than you can see at first glance. And he loved to feel your trust when he carried you over his shoulder and you weren’t worried for a second because you couldn’t see where he was going but you trust him without ifs and buts that you can’t get hurt and he wouldn’t do anything bad to you.
Tumblr media
Dan
Definitely over his shoulder. I mean, the man loves to flex his muscles and show them. His loveling hobby was the gym, and he was a little macho who was more playful than he would let you see if one spoke to him normally. So he loved to grab your legs and throw you over his shoulder and then carry you to his destination. Of course, this also offered him the perfect view of your butt and allowed one or two claps on this. He always commented that with a little, rough and kinda dirty laugh. But he was a gentleman through and through, as he himself always emphasized, so bridal style was also something of a duty for him. (Also because this gave you a good view of his biceps)
Tumblr media
Thomas
Definitely the most bridal style, it just suited him the most. He was the little softie, nothing negative, who always wanted to carry his partners on hands and always wanted to take care if them completely. He wanted to make sure his partner could rely on him 100% every second and you could feel how much he loved you. Of course, the bridal style had a meaning for itself in general. But in this way he could always perfectly look at you with eyes filled with pure love, look into your face and make sure that you could absolutely let youself down and he would always carry you on. He would never let you go/fall.

“ KISS ME MORE ”
Tumblr media
IN WHICH I tell u how each character would kiss u!
FANDOM: Duskwood (Mobile Game) CHARACTERS: Jake, Jessy, Richy, Phil, Dan, Darkness. CONTENT: Lots of kisses, a bit of spice, Making out, GN reader.
WARNINGS: Suggestive themes. (Tell me if I missed anything)
JAKE DONFORT
Sweet, and slow. Is scared he would lose you if he lets go of you.
His hand rests on your cheek as his lips dances along with yours, he is patient; taking his time with his work, making sure he can keep you there as long as he wants. Specially if it's the first time he kisses you, he would be very careful, afraid he might scare you away, show you what a monster he really is. But that will never happen. He mumbles your name throughout the kiss, as if trying to make sure you're still there and this is not a dream. His hands wander from your cheek to your neck and they slowly go up to massage your scalp, his other hand around your waist, keeping you close. Overall he is rarely too rough with his actions, unless you ask him to be, then he will try.. but he is not good at it. He spends most of his time online, acting harsh and dominant in computer is much easier than real life.. specially with you.
« Say you'll never leave me.. please? »
⚝ ⚝ ⚝
JESSY HAWKINS
Quick, small pecks all over your face that last one second and then turn to a whole make out session.
Her small giggles make you smile as she hugs you close, giving you a kiss on your collarbone before whispering a quick "I love you" and moving on to your chin, leaving trails of quick kisses that make you almost laugh just because of that ticklish feeling. Once her lips find their way to yours, she doesn't waste a second before capturing them. It starts with an innocent small kiss, but it soon turns to her caressing your lips with her tongue, and who are you to deny such thing?! She isn't rough by all means, and she is kind of goofy even, giggling and breaking the kiss from time to time to kiss your cheeks or your neck. She just really wants to appreciate you! She is the hardest to resist, and usually she's the one who asks for the kiss or starts it.
« Come ooooon, just one more kiss, please! »
⚝ ⚝ ⚝
RICHY ROGER
He is much like Jessy, a little silly and goofy, but he is much more shy and would just intend small kisses.
He is really awkward, he doesn't know what he's doing so he only gives you a small kiss on your forehead at first. When he sees your disappointed face, he chuckles slightly, Teasing you by saying something like "If you want it, you should come get it". Obviously, he wasn't expecting you to actually try anything and when you did he just stands there.. not knowing where to put his hands or how to hold you closer so that this wouldn't be more awkward than it already is. He gets used to it at some point, it's not like he hasn't had partners before, but your case was different. You were special to him, you could read him like an open book, he felt like if he let you look him in his eyes, you would know every last of his darkest secrets. So by all means, he isn't the first to intend the kiss, he prefers to kiss you on your cheeks or your forehead or even on the back of your hand.
« You want a kiss? Alright, a kiss coming right up! haha »
⚝ ⚝ ⚝
PHIL HAWKINS
Passionate make out session, he isn't really a patient man.
Like I said, he isn't a patient man, his kisses might start slow but would quickly turn to a make out session and even that might turn to a quicky if he's is in the mood. He gives you kisses at the most random times, specially if you're with the group. He likes to show you off so he will, he enjoys the looks you two get as he suddenly smashes his lips against yours. But in private, he's much more intimate and if PDA makes you uncomfortable he will definitely keep himself from doing anything too much in public. He's a womanizer, sure, but he's also a gentleman. He likes to shower you with affection and make you feel special so expect kisses on the back of your hand. I would also like to add that he would definitely consider your mood too before he intends anything (not that the others don't), because your comfort is his priority.
« Yeah? you want more? we can always take it to the bedroom~ »
⚝ ⚝ ⚝
DAN ANDERSON
He's not much for kisses but if you ask for it, he will give you kisses alright.
He is the type to spoil you with classy dinner or great food at home if needed, he isn't up for kisses like I said, mostly because he thinks his beard would annoy you but he also doesn't want to shave it. So unless you ask for it, he wouldn't really kiss you on the lips all that much. He gives you alot of kisses on your forehead though. But let's say you ask for a kiss, this man gives his all to satisfy your needs. He makes sure you are comfortable with anything he's doing before doing it and he keeps asking for permission, he is just a big softie, he is like those big human sized teddy bears. He isn't rough either, he is lazy and slow, he prefers it that way in all honestly. He is also a little messy but not that much.
« You want a kiss, babe? well aight then, get over here, I ain't getting up from here »
⚝ ⚝ ⚝
DARKNESS
Insecure, awkward and quick kisses.
They don't understand the concept of intimate acts such as this, can't you two just have fun with game nights or horror movie marathon? If you ask for it, they will just awkwardly give it to you. They've never been in a serious relationship so they aren't exactly experimented with this whole act, nonetheless they will try their best. Their kisses start as quick pecks, and they slowly turn to a slow passionate kiss. They are also afraid of losing you, so in the middle of it all, they suddenly start holding you really tightly as if they are afraid you'd run away, because they are the weird kid, the freak that spends their time online scaring people away and being all mysterious and shit.. they can't be like that in real life. They are the type to say some creepy shits in between kisses, those are their sweet nothings that they whisper to you, it's a form of love, I swear. After kissing you for what feels like forever, they would start cuddling you, not even paying attention to the movie you were watching anymore as they close their eyes, breathing in your scent and slowly giving you small kisses on your neck in a form of appreciation.
« Turn the movie off, it's annoying. I wanna hear your heartbeat »

~DUSKWOOD~WHAT IF (i'm a little sad,so this is a sad what if)
---What if,at the end of the adventure,WE went to rescue Hannah, not Jake?---
*
Jake is on the phone with Alan in a video call, when suddenly he sees Hannah throw herself into the policeman's arms shouting Richy's name. At that moment Jake understands.
Send a message to MC immediately
Jake: MC pick up the phone now! It's Ricky! It's always been Richy!
But no answer,so in a desperate attempt to do something he calls back Alan.
Jake: You have to do something, please bring her back alive to us...to me
Alan: I don't know how to tell you this, but the entire place exploded...there is fire everywhere. I can't go inside right now,we have to wait for the firefighter...i'm sorry.
Jake: No,please! She didn't text me back, there must be something you could do!
Alan: ...i'm sorry,i'm really sorry but if i go in there i'll die with her. You know MC better than me,she wouldn't want this...
Jake watched the phone as Alan framed the burning entrance to the main gallery for him. Warm tears rolled down Jake's cheeks.
He closes the call and went back to their chat to write to her.
Jake: ...i know you're still in there...please,give me any sign that you're still alive. Without i can't convince Alan to go in there to save you...
No response
Jake: I can't lose you like this. I had to be the one trapped in there, not you. This is all my fault...i put you in danger. I ran away from the Government and instead of staying close to Duskwood,i have strayed too far.
Still no response
Jake: I never showed you my face. You never saw my smile or heard my laugh. You have never seen me angry or tired or disappointed.
He waited a bit for an answer
Jake: You don't know that when I speak I gesticulate with my hands or that when I am nervous I walk inside my shelter. You don't know that I dream of you at night and that I see your face, your eyes and look at your hair blowing in the wind.
Another little pause
Jake: ...and...you don't know that for fear of never seeing you again I hacked your phone's camera and took a picture of you...you don't know that I saw you and fell in love with you even more.
Sobbing at his own words he closed his eyes. After a couple of minutes his phone rang.
*MC incoming call*
He answered and immediately tryed to triangulate her position with his pc. She was coughing and breathing hardly.
Jake: Hey! I'm here! Listen to my voice okay? I'm going to send a message to Alan and-
MC: ...d-don't...
Jake: What do you mean?
MC: ...i-i saw Richy...he was the MWAF.
Jake was silent, listening to her voice for the first time.
MC: ...he...he didn't hurt me. He said to m-me to run...that he wanted this to be over. He tryed to kill himself, setting this place on fire...
Jake: ...but...you didn't run away...right?
MC: ...y-you know m-me well...even if he's a m-murder,he's still my friend...couldn't let him die...
Jake: ...
MC: W-we run...b-but the floor collapsed under our feet...i-i think...i think he's...
She started to cry, sobbing and he couldn't do anything better than cry silently. Then with his computer he sends a text to Alan that she was still alive but trapped.
Jake: Everything will be okay MC-
MC: The smoke is making me impossible to breathe...and the flames reached us down here...reached me. I don't have much time...
Jake: No don't say that! Helps are on the way, they will be there soon and-
MC: I wish i saw your face...and heard your laugh. I wish i felt the warmth of your hugs...i-i wish...oh,God...i wish I'd had the time to look into your eyes, stroke your hair and...and...
She coughed loudly and her breathing became faster and louder.
Jake: We'll have time for all of that,i promise...
MC: i'm...happy tho...i had t-the chance to know you a little...
Jake: no,please...MC
MC: ...the flames are so close...and the smoke...i can barely see Richy nex to me...
Jake puts a hand on his mouth to try and suffocate his sobbing.
MC: ...y-you...you still...remember that Chinese place?
Jake: ...sure...
MC: Book a table for two...don't be sad...I'll be there...e-even if...you won't...see...me
The connection began to shake and MC's words reached his ear distorted.
MC: ...i'll...be...there...pro...mise
The call went dead and Jake burst into tears in his makeshift shelter. After ten or maybe more minutes,Alan called him back saying that a big explosion had brought down the entrance and that the firefighter were no longer able to go inside.
Jake threw the phone at the nearest wall destroying it. Then in tears he looked at the PC and like a fury he destroyed it throwing it to the ground. With cries of anger and pain he grabbed the chair and threw it on the desk and kept hitting every single object in the room until he collapsed into a corner. With his legs to his chest and his hands over his face he continued to cry and shout the name of the love of his life. That day they managed to save Hannah, but Jake lost his heart.

My Forever
Everyone hears those love stories of finding your one true love when you're little but for most it doesn't happen. However for me that's exactly what happened. Our moms worked together at a nursing home and we spent so much time with each other. It was that once in a lifetime kind of friendship to love. By the time I was 10 we were inseparable and everyone knew it. However, that all changed one night.
He was spending the night over with my family as his mom had to work graveyard that month and there was a knock on the door in the middle of the night. We had fallen asleep on the couch watching a movie and were woken up to knocks on the door and red lights in the front yard.
In the six years I had known Jake, I had never seen him cry until that night. The police officers let him stay with us that night but we didn't fall back asleep.
I had seen him one more time since then at the funeral and he hugged me so tight. By the end of the funeral he didn't want to let go of my hand and I didn't want him too until the police and my parents pulled us apart.
He went into the system and while we tried to keep in touch with letters it eventually stopped when I turned 12 and my heart was broken.
When I finally turned 18 I spent 5 years looking for this man. My heart was still attached too with no luck. I had finally given up and tried to move on but no matter what no guy meant the same to me.
Until HIM and I started texting trying to find his sister who was kidnapped. I was instantly drawn to him and there was an instant trust like I had known him my whole life. After everything we had been through we had fallen in love and decided to finally meet in Duskwood.
My heart was pounding out of my chest as I walked into the park. He had told me where to meet him and when I went to the spot he was already there leaning against a tree. I couldn't miss him as he was wearing all black during the middle of the day. I finally caught a glimpse of his eyes as I walked in front of him and my heart I swear stopped. He must have also because he pulled his mask down.
Standing in front of me was Jake, my Jake. The man I fell in love with through texts, but also the same boy I fell in love with and was the reason I couldn't find love again.
Without even saying anything to him I run and jump into his arms and wrap my arms around his neck. I feel his arms around my waist and he holds me until he lets my feet hit the ground. He's staring into my honey golden eyes and me into his electric blue. I see his black hair fall down under his hood.
"Hi, Jake," I said with the biggest smile.
"Hi, my MC" he says with a smile back.
He always called MC growing up because he was the only one besides family to know my middle name abd while I started going by it when I turn 14 hearing him say it sends shivers down my spine.
I gently smack his chest "you have a lot of explaining to do mister. I looked for you for five years once I turned 18 and there was no trace of you" I say with a pouting face.
He leans in and kisses me "I will explain everything to you."
Jakes POV:
She hasn't missed a beat since seeing me. She's still that same playful, loving girl i fell in love with at the age of 13 and my heart never let go over.
I twist us so shes against the tree as Im holding her waist still. I know there's alot to catch up on with her.
"Just before i turn 18 i started getting in a lot of trouble with hacking. Nothing major at the time but enough to keep the police on my tail. I didn't reach out to you then back because I wanted to keep you safe." I sigh knowing these next words are going to be the hardest.
"I had contacted your dad the moment I could and he told me all about you. He knew the moment you turned 18 that you were going to be looking for me and to keep you safe from getting pulled into this life that I had to stay under your radar which is exactly what I did."
"You spoke to my dad but you couldn't reach out to let me know you were damn alive!? I thought you were dead Jake!" She yells.
I kiss her to keep her quite. When I finally pull away she looks shocked that I just did that.
"I know what you thought and I hated letting you think that after the promise I made you the night my world turned upside down. I had all plans on the day I turned 18 to enter back into your life MC. However with everything that was going on it wasn't the right choice to keep you safe."
"I think I'm more mad that my dad knew and didn't give me any hope" she says looking down at her feet.
Her looking away from my eyes has always been a sign she's upset, even as a child. It's one of the things I fell in love with. I lift her head to look into her eyes. "He did it to protect you. Honestly, as hard as it was not reaching out, it was always to keep you safe." I say as I pull her towards me.
"Jake, you're not allowed to disappear again from me. I don't care what you're about to say, I'm coming with you" she says sternly.
I know she's my forever and I want her safe but one thing I learned from her is she's stubborn and I can't stop her from doing what her heart wants.

- Unforgettable Lullaby -
Duskwood Jake x GN!Mc Oneshot
A/N: Hello lovlies! 😊 I hope you're all well and enjoyin your summer and that there are still some of you interested in reading some Duskwood content! 😊💚
It's nothing special, but I hope you will still find it likeable! As always, don't mind any mistakes you might stumble across, and happy reading! 😊💚
It was just another usual night for Mc and Jake - him lying with his laptop on his stomach, sharply focusing on the screen in front of him, with numbers and letter from codes reflecting in his eyes; Mc with a book in their hands, eyes hungrily jumping from one word to another and fingers excitedly turning page after page as the entrancing story came to its end.
With a slightly melancolich sigh, Mc close the book and place it on the night stand next to the bed.
By now, Jake got to know them so well, that by the time they lowered the book, he was already prepared - his laptop closed and sittuated next to him, left arm stretched and slightly lifted as he waited for Mc to turn and lay their head on his chest so he can hug them.
He just held them like that, silently, feeling Mc's body relaxing more and more with each slow and steady breath they both took.
"Another sad story?" he inquiers softly after he estimated enough time passed for their emotions over the book subsided enough.
"Yes, and no." Mc begins "The end was kinda saddish, but all in all, the book was really great."
Mc fall silent after that, and Jake knew better than to ask any more questions - during their time together, he also came to realization that if they wish to say more they would on their own.
He just let himself enjoy this simple, yet for him amazing moment, in which their breaths were perfectly synchronized, and no words were necessary between them.
"Do you remember any lullaby from when you were little?"
"A lullaby?" he repeats surprised at their unexpected question and chuckles "Where did that came from?"
He could feel Mc smile before speaking "It's just - it was mentioned in the book, and for some reason it got stuck with me. Just - just ignore it."
And in that moment he did remember- a melody he could never forget, even though the memory of some words faded. A seren voice of his mother, gently lulling him into dream world, and the soft touch of her palm on his cheek. Unforgettable, indeed.
"I do remember." he say after a moment, making Mc begin to feel a little bad, noticing a wistful tone of his voice.
"I'm sorry if this isn't something you want to talk about, it's fine. Just forget about it."
"Oh, no no, it's all right, angel." he smiles and give them a reasuring rub on the arm. "It's kinda like with your book, both sad and a happy memory. Well precisely, definitely more happy. It's - it's just that I haven't thought about it for a while, so..."
"Yeah, I understand what you mean."
They fall silent again, each lost deep in their thoughts.
"Would you sing it to me?"
It took a moment for Mc themself to realize what came out of their mouth, but before they could even say something Jake cut them "I can't."
"Ugh, just ignore me and my stupid brain, I wasn't thinking at all. Forget about it!"
They were already feeling like a fool, and when Jake started laughing, the feeling just got worse.
"I didn't say I don't want to," he quickly speak, as he could feel Mc's embarrassment without the need to see their face "it's that I can't, because I don't remember all the words of it."
"Oh, ok." was all they managed to say, that feeling of embarrassment still quite present.
"But I could humm it to you, if you'd like."
"Really?" They were so surprised with his offer, feeling happy as a little kid "I would love that very much!"
Jake chuckles again and pulls Mc closer "All right then, make yourself comfortable and close your eyes."
He waited for Mc to situate, and when they were both still for a few seconds, he too close his eyes and begins to humm.
And once again, the memory and images of his mother gently lulling him to sleep flood his mind, her seren voice softly echoing along his humming, enciting a blissful smile to his face.
As for Mc - the gentle humming and the sound of Jake's strong and steady heartbeats worked like a charm, and soon them too drifted off to peaceful sleep.
