Watching Stephen Universe the Movie with my kid this early AM. I had no idea what this show was about before the beginning of the summer, but it’s very cool!

And the fact that such effortlessly, wonderfully diverse content is readily available is awesome.

I was a total TV kid too. There was NOTHING like this when I was my own kiddo’s age (circa 1990). The only queers I saw on tv were on the 6 o’clock news, dying of AIDS, whom my father was happy to berate. I was scared of being queer, and this deep, lingering fear kept me in the closet for a long time.

Visibility matters. I want a better world for every kid. I want pride shit in stores, not just in pride month. I want kids to feel safe to be their best selves, and fuck the nazis who say otherwise 🌈

I know if anyone mentions crossovers between shows now it gets immediately related to the MCU, but back in ye olden times the coolest crossover was between Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron, and quite frankly it’s sad that we don’t see those kinds of crossovers anymore. I just saw a post that crossed Rick and Marty with Stephen Universe (basically Rick and Pearl are together and have a kid) and while that sounds like the most horrifying crossover ever, I can’t help but WANT that, you know? Like how fucking weird and wild would that be if it were real? Give me that. Give me Adventure Time crossed with South Park. Or Billy and Mandy crossed with Danny Phantom. Avatar and Generator Rex. Scooby Doo and Chalk Zone. Just wacky and wild, cross-network shit. At the rate we’re going with superhero movies, it’s only a matter of time before we get a DC vs. Marvel movie. Why can’t we have some good ol nostalgia in the form of cross-network crossover episodes.

The poor boy struggles with emotion, but knows his family loves him and he feels good when they love him, and how the hell is he supposed to reciprocate that beyond his ingenious tech to help them out? And the ONE time he makes them individualized gifts he beefed it so frickin hard! This is Donny in witch town. This is Donny not realizing he is crying. This is Donny hanging a “congratulations you survived!” banner in an attempt at comfort after a traumatic event. This is Donatello loving his family, even as he struggles to understand what love means.

Other idea: any and all iterations of Raphael trying to calm down to “Here Comes a Thought” from Steven Universe.

Any iteration of him trying to conquer his anger makes me so happy and with flashbacks would make an excellent amv. I can also just see a crossover situation of all of them meditating in a circle with Rise Mikey softly singing this to them. I am tearing up just thinking about it.

Again, if you don’t know the tune, have a lyric video. Also… this legitimately works for meditation, I have used it myself on loop, and used it to teach children.
