Summer of 84
Horror Movie Mini-Reviews: Movie 28 of ??
IMDB Summary:
After suspecting that their police officer neighbor is a serial killer, a group of teenage friends spend their summer spying on him and gathering evidence, but as they get closer to discovering the truth, things get dangerous.
Nonsensical Thoughts:
Summer of 84 (2018) is essentially what would happen if Stephen King had written Disturbia. When will the 80’s nostalgia go off to war? Or at least the kid side of it. I want to see what the college kids were doing. My parents were in college in the 80’s, I’d like more films that show that experience through the lens of nostalgia. Will I have to make that film? But, I digress.
This was an entertaining watch. The kids were great and the script was solid. If you are looking for a slasher film, this is not it, but it is a good mystery horror.

Twenty-five minutes.
I want so many things. The things that everyone wants. Beauty, the perfect body figure, fame, money, reputation and so many other things.
Twenty- three minutes.
I want my crush to be my friend, to like me back. I want people to think of me as a remarkable person.
Twenty minutes.
I want to stand out in people's memories. I want to have that touch of brilliance as Stephen Farraday had.
Nineteen minutes.
I want to have something more to write. I want to be able to put down those elusive thoughts in black and white. I want to be lauded for it.
Seventeen minutes.
I want to be an author, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a singer, a teacher. I want to be something.
Sixteen minutes.
I want this piece of writing to affect everyone as strongly as it affects me.
Fourteen minutes.
Thirteen minutes.
I wanted the teacher to stop lecturing us and go back to reading. Fortunately, she has. I want the day to end already so I can seek solace at home. Yet, I want to see what I can write next. I don't want anything else to go wrong.
Ten minutes.
I want the principal to come in and waste some of our time. However, her words are as uninteresting as those in print before me. I want to find out the secrets of life, of time, of the universe.
Nine minutes.
I want to find interest and pleasure away from small- minded people. I want to look into the future, I want to rewind my life, I want to go back in time.
I want so many things.
Seven minutes.
I want to find myself. I want to improve myself. I want to have some self respect. The teacher stopped for a minute to lecture.
Five minutes.
I want attention. I want to tell someone all of this. I want to, but I can't. So I'm writing it. That is why, my unique readers, I want you to think. I want you to try to understand, and if you don't, I want you to be kind and respect it. I want you to feel them, all the thoughts I have poured out. I hope you do. I want to have succeeded in making you feel them. And I want you to tell me if I have.
One minute.
I want to not be tense about my prefect duty. I want to be able to control the students in my charge. I want to feel in control of my life. I want so many things.
I want peace. To not want anything.
I want peace from life.
Edit.
When I'm looking at a beautiful scene, I want my heart to not hurt. I simply want to appreciate it at its face value. I want to not have to think beyond it, because then it feels like I'm leaving reality behind. In a scary way. I want to not have to face the knowledge, that in the galaxy of your thoughts, you have to venture in alone. No one can accompany you as far as you can go yourself. Yet, I want to stay myself. I want to think in a way that sets me apart. I want so, so many things.
So, so many wants.
