You know what, no. I refuse to believe that Palpatine is part of a secret unbroken line of Sith stretching back a thousand years who have secretly been biding their time for generations. The Sith are megalomaniac egotistical bastards bent on galactic domination who are so incapable of thinking ahead that they had to be reduced to two people to avoid total self destruction, you’re telling me that those people sat by and waited patiently for centuries so someone else in the future could gain victory over the Jedi? Or that the Jedi somehow missed one of the two people that comprise the Sith? Or that the master apprentice chain didn’t just collapse in on itself when they killed each other in a promotion gone wrong? Yeah, right. Unless there’s a magical Sith meter with “The Republic must be THIS corrupt to destroy the Jedi”, one of them would have tried taking over the galaxy with 50 years of the fake extinction. At best.
What I bet actually happened is either Darth Tenebrous or the Sith directly before him found some Sith artificacts, declared themself a Sith, and lied to their apprentice for legitimacy, and it was just dumb luck that it lasted to Sidious’ time without one of them snapping and blowing their cover early. They’re as much ancient Sith as any of the people who declared themselves heir to the Romans.

Uh, I got into the Clone Wars last night. I mean, the Clone Wars wasn’t stored safely out of my reach. I chewed it all up and left the little pieces everywhere like a cat with a roll of toilet paper.
Anyway, you know that one episode where Savage Opress visits Planet Dumpster Fire to rescue Maul with help from the talking snake from Disney’s The Jungle Book?? Cool, yeah, that one.
–so could I have a moment to theorize why Dooku thinks Savage being loose in the galaxy is such a big fucking deal in the first place? When Asajj, who hates him a lot more and has tried to assassinate him repeatedly, is like, right over there? When, actually, the galaxy is full of powerful Force users who want to kill him, including some members of his own family?
Could it be that Dooku, in a characteristic spiral of destabilization after losing Asajj as a Padawan substitute right hand man, actually behaved pretty embarrassingly in front of Savage? Does Savage have some pretty bad shit on him?
Embarrassing Bullshit Dooku Probably Said to Savage During Their Infinitesimally Short Apprenticeship:
multiple incriminating monologues about his plans to "secretly" use Savage to finally fuck up Sidious and take over as the King of Bad Ideas instead of the apprentice*
“Here is my annotated childhood diary containing all my most cringe moments, my feelings of inadequacy and vulnerability, some gay subtext, and the origin story of my daddy issues, beginning at age 12…oh, don’t forget the attached media file, so you can see how cute I was as an initiate…!”
(during movie night) “...and the Wicker Man, for me, as an actor, is definitely the best film…in the end horrifying, but not what I would call a horror film. It was about growth, not decay…”
it’s a EU/Legends situation, and Sifo-Dyas’s corpse is actually in a cryopod in the basement. Dooku monologues at it constantly. Sometimes, Savage swears he can hear two people talking down there, and doesn’t know if that’s real or if Dooku is doing the other voice, and is legitimately unsure which alternative is more terrifying. Sure, he grew up with witches and everything, but this is a bridge too far?!!
*lol this one's real

The Omega in the Room
Spoilers under the cut for the Bad Batch Season 3 trailer. All of this is my personal theorycrafting.
So something I haven't really seen talked about all that much is this shot of Omega from the new trailer.
Tumblr media
She's flying a ship, clad in her Tantiss prison jumpsuit. The haircut is new, but her hair/eye color, clothes, and facial structure are indicators that it's her.
Now am I going crazy, or does Omega in this picture look markedly older than she does in Season 2 and in other shots from the S3 trailer? Take this one.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's just the angle and the expression being different, but the top Omega looks somewhat older to me, and not just because she's changed her hair. See how she comes up to the clone commando's elbow in this one?
Tumblr media
In this shot, she has her haircut from the cockpit scene. It's tough because she's standing in front of him, but she might be taller relative to the clone commando in this shot. And her face looks different. I really think this Omega is older than the one in the second picture by a not insignificant amount. Which is deeply worrying, because our girl is a Boba Fett-type clone. She doesn't have accelerated aging.
There's one other shot in the S3 trailer that people think is her, and it's the one of the downed Nu-class shuttle.
Tumblr media
From the little we can make out, it looks like the two figures limping away from the crash site are Crosshair (rightmost, under a pointy rock) and Omega (on the slope just under the front of the dorsal fin). The first shot of Omega with her new hair is in the cockpit of a ship, which looks like it could be from a Nu. I couldn't find any good pictures of the inside of a Nu's cockpit, but from the canopy/size it looks similar enough. A fan theory I've seen floating around for this scene is that this is the aftermath of Omega and Crosshair escaping Tantiss, with Omega's flying lessons paying off as they narrowly escape before being forced to crashland.
The last thing that's relevant from the trailer is Hunter's line that Omega's "been waiting for a long time." Hunter doesn't strike me as someone who speaks in hyperbole, so if he's saying it's been a long time, we're definitely talking months to years. If I'm right, Omega has been on Tantiss long enough to noticeably age by the time she escapes. With her being in the 10-13 age range at the beginning of the show, she's at an age where it doesn't necessarily take a really long time for her to start looking older, but this doesn't happen overnight either. I think we're talking at least a year, and very possibly more, since the end of Season 2 and the time she escapes.
In the shots we have of younger Omega in the trailer, we see her looking surprised to see Crosshair and staring sadly out a window. Older?Omega looks grim and determined as she is escorted through the Tantiss facility and flies a Nu-class shuttle before bailing out with the aforementioned Crosshair. I think she's definitely older and harder in these scenes, and the fact that it's been so long and she's changed so much is going to be some great angst when they rejoin the Batch.
I also think there's amazing fluff potential for Emerie bonding with Omega and doing her sister's hair, but I digress

Ezra’s Back!!!
Now for the crackhead theories :D
Theory: Ezra and Thrawn were once allies.
This is something I kind of wanted since it was revealed just how long Ezra & Thrawn had been gone (~10 years) and thought it would be a huge opportunity to introduce morally grey and former enemies to allies plot lines (not necessarily friends but allyship against greater evils).
I noticed Ezra is wearing faded red robes, the same colour as the bindings on the Chimera’s stormtroopers and the robes of the nightsister mothers (theirs are of course more vibrant)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Star Wars is usually quite careful and heavily reliant on the use of colour to tell us what’s going on with character relationships but even more so on the battle lines & sides a character is on. So Ezra wearing the same material and colours of his supposed enemies is a bit odd.
Me thinks there has been some history in the passed 10 years of allyship/collaboration that fell through. In a bad way as well, considering Thrawn wants both Ezra and Sabine dead, likely because he believes Ezra knows to much to be allowed to return as opposed to just left behind.
Also if Ezra ‘Everyone wants me as an apprentice’ Bridger and Grand Admiral ‘You’re my student whether you like it or not’ Thrawn haven’t had a weird quasi teacher-student/enemy-ally on again off again thing, I’ll be disappointed.
It’s been 10 Years! Not 1 or 2, 10! There has bound to have been something going on out there that is more than just an elaborate game of cat & mouse.
Give me some of that character complexity and growth, not a pause of development/ character status since they haven’t been on screen. In reality these should all be quite changed people, even if their core character is the same, they’ll be different. I desperately want to believe that there is more going on than what we are seeing.
Also it seems like they’re leaning hard into the Japanese aesthetic with the Kintsugi gold patching of the stormtrooper armour, Ezra’s armour style & the Kappa like aliens we see him with.

My redneck neighbor Doug on Tech's Looks
(Me: "Doug, so you know, a lot of people are unhappy that the Bad Batch was made to be lighter then the regs. It's a hot topic."
Doug: "Well, here's my theory on the matter. I hope the kids on the Internet (his words for Tumblr) don't get too spicy over this. It's all in good fun. I hope it makes 'em smile and think a bit.")
After having a firm, peer-reviewed discussion (and by that, I mean endless texts with Doug) it has been concluded that Tech has lighter skin and hair, and a slimmer build, due to the Kaminoans leaning harder into the hillbilly part of Jango Fett’s genes, whereas the regs got the nicer, prettier, more amenable genes.
In short, Tech looks the way he does…because he is a blue-collar white guy from the American South.
A Florida redneck, specifically.
Tumblr media
And let me (by way of Doug) tell you: rednecks do not have beautiful tans, flawless fades, snatched waists, muscular thighs, diamond-sharp cheekbones, the ability to follow directions, or perfect matching armor, all of which a reg has.
Tumblr media
(Sorry, Howser, go back to guarding Ryloth or posing for GQ or whatever it is you do.)
Back to Tech. Look at that man and tell me the shit he gets up to would not be constantly at the top of r/floridaman
Tumblr media
A lot of people might clutch their pearls, and be shocked at this revelation.
“He has a fancy accent! He’s persnickety about certain things! He’s my fancy pretty boi and I’m going to dress him up in a gold thong in my fan art!”
You do you, kid. But let Doug and his neighbor here, Dr. Meat Muffin, defend this deranged argument, here. Using anthropological research applying autoethnographic methodologies that they conducted independently at one point.
(By that, we mean that Doug is from the bayous of Louisiana and has lived in the Florida Panhandle before moving Up North. Dr. MM attended graduate school in a redneck hot zone, lived in said redneck hot zone for a while, and married a Texan as well. Hook 'em gig 'em and wreck 'em)
After all, if you want an army to win over the galaxy and work with the Jedi, you want well-mannered, shiny, handsome men with melanin and agreeable personalities.
You do not want a pale-assed weirdo in jeans and a receding hairline who can’t get off his phone to work closely with orphaned space wizards.
Tech’s an anarchic Floridian piece of tornado bait and that’s why he look the way he do, says Doug.
Here's why Doug says Tech is a Redneck:
Mandalorians are Space Rednecks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trx7fDdlIo0. I do not own the rights to the video, but my God, it is perfection. A masterpiece. Mandalorians are rednecks in space, who end up colonizing Space Florida, no questions asked. Our theory is Tech is merely the concentrated, Waffle House-fistfighting, chew-dipping, Mountain Dew chugging, part of that. The Kaminoans just leaned into the trailer park part of Jango Fett hard when designing Tech, because no one can fix cars while shooting a gun and yelling at his crazy brothers like a redneck (more on that below).
Hell, all of the Bad Batch are different brands of Florida Man:
Grizzled long haired tan guy with skull tattoo, obsessed with tracking, knife fighting, and hiding from normal society? Hunter.
Bald tanned dude with weird scars who loves blowing shit up and screaming for no reason? Wrecker
Pale, freaked out man who was kept in a cult’s closet for years? Echo
Creepy, old, Second Amendment loving white guy with a gun themed tattoo who can’t seem to die? Crosshair
Maladjusted orphan left behind at a bar by her inexperienced caretakers and almost drowns in the ocean? Omega
His love of vehicles: We never see Tech whip out a manual to fix anything. The man says it’s because he has an exceptional mind, but that’s edging dangerously close to “Ah don’t need no schoolin’, hoss, I can fix any Ford!”.  Doug thinks it’s just because Tech loves playing with car parts, which is some grade A, hillbilly tomfoolery. And what is more redneck than some white guy ripping apart a vehicle in the dirt while the rest of his family bitches at each other in the heat? It happened right here in Season 2 (this exact scenario has played out many-a-time in Pensacola, trust me). All they need is some Lynyrd Skynyrd blasting in the background to make the picture complete.
His clothing color scheme: “Oh, no!” you wail. “He just changed his colors to reflect Mandalorian heritage!”
WRONG.
Tech’s redneckery is blatant here, because his colors switch from
Hot Topic goth to…UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.
Tumblr media
“We’re loyal to each other,” says Hunter. And by that, he means the Gators, beloved of many an NCAA following redneck in the Sunshine State and beyond. Orange and Blue, indeed.
Tumblr media
Notice how we first see him in these colors, is while he’s parked his stolen work vehicle on a beach while his brothers are busy being chased by huge-ass crabs as their sister is quietly fishing?!
This is PEAK FLORIDA MAN.
Tech was probably trying to get ESPN+ to work on the Marauder, because the Devil works hard, but the SEC works harder during football season. I wonder if he has a tattoo of Tim Tebow on his buttcheek.
His home is his car: Tech, as well as his unemployed brothers and underaged sister who the cops are looking for (how trashy is THAT sentence), live in the Havoc Marauder now that their home was destroyed in a fire fight with the government.
("Jesus Christ, this argument just writes itself now, don’t it," -Doug)
This attack shuttle, for all intents and purposes, is a stolen work truck that they live in. It’s filled with posters of guns, as well as other weapons and explosives, and has all the comfort of a Jacksonville gas station at 2 AM. All you need is some cigarette burns on the fender and some empty take out bags from Bojangles and it might as well be parked down by the river in Suwannee County. Just Florida redneckery. Speaking of which….
He loves guns and explosions: Won’t go into detail, but the man knows how to use multiple pistols, rifles, and different tactile maneuvers with glee. Tech’s only notable complaint regarding explosions is making sure Wrecker’s new fancy boom-booms aren’t parked next to his bunk. And the look of calm joy when his sister tells his brother ‘Do some damage, Wrecker!’ as Tech pulls a Bo Duke and flings his vehicle across a locked up work site, while his deranged brother giggles and fires some guns at a government-owned power plant from the back seat. PURE. UNADULTERATED. REDNECK.
He’s a racer: It is a fact (with peer reviewed research) that rednecks really, really love them some racing. NASCAR, motocross, BMX, you name it. And if you’ve seen ‘Faster’, well, that’s all you need to know about the man.
He has no fear of large animals: We’ve never seen him hunt, but Tech knows how to distract massive amounts of nasty animals using light, and the first response to seeing a terrifying monster isn't running away screaming, but whispering ‘FASCINATING’., before, ya know, firing a gun at it. It’s one step away from ‘IT’S COMING RIGHT FOR US’. You KNOW that man would be sponsoring gator wrasslin' contests if he could.
His actions towards His family: This is where Tech truly differentiates himself from the typical ‘geek’ character and leans hard into King of the Hill territory. Whereas a normal nerd character might nag and panic when his sister falls down a hole while drilling for explosives in a cave (dear God Doug, how much more redneck examples can you keep pointing out, I’m exhausted), Tech merely YEETS HIMSELF down into the abyss. Or when his brother picks a fight in the mess hall? Does Tech run away, or just start punching people like it's past closing time in the Applebee's parking lot in Daytona and the Dolphins lost? And let's not discuss the season finale :(. Rednecks are some loyal folks, family first, and that’s our man’s right there.
There you have it, says Doug. Tech isn’t lighter because he’s better than the regs. The opposite.
You can not be a deranged, adrenaline filled, sassy, goggled weirdo flying throughout space and blowing shit up and not be pale AF with twiggy legs and a receding hairline that’s edging towards Hunter S. Thompson level, born out of America's Sunshine state while a hurricane chases you out.
::turns up ZZ Top::

Random Baking Thoughts
While slicing bread I was thinking of Bad Batch and all the theories surrounding the shadow clone and who it could be. A lot of people are saying it might be Tech and heck that makes the most sense, but I had a strange but interesting thought that smacked it out of the ball bark instantly. "What if that was Cody instead? What happened to him other than going AWOL? Is he the shadow clone???"
Which led me to this thinking
"What is project Necromancer? And how dark is this show going to get? Because what do Necromancers do? Stuff with the dead. And when Tech fell, that whole dang car fall right over him. Ain't no way anyone could survive being crushed after falling. But what if Hemlock found a way to bring dead clones back to life? Palpatine did say what he was doing was an abomination soooooooo.... 😳 Ooooooh dang! I don't know what would be worse!!"
Yeah, random Baking Thoughts 😁

Could Omega potentially be a Jedi?
Does she have a higher Midichlorian-Score than the other clones? 🤔It would make sense, cause Hemlock needs her alive and Midichlorians are a microscopic life form found in all living cells. (ALSO they're always talking about some M-stuff)
Hoping the Jelly Bean won't actually become force sensitive though (I just enjoy her character the way she is, I think otherwise it might be a little over the top)....
Still, if you've watched "The Jedi Tales" you might remember Ahsoka's backstory in which she somehow "tames" that one tiger-like beast.
Tumblr media
Jedi have a calming presence. Same goes for Omega. We saw that when she cared for the hound. Of course, she's a very caring individual in general... But to me it still remains to be a very Jedi-ish trait.
It's also a very Jedi like scene, if you ask me.
Tumblr media
Also, Asajj Ventress might have to do something with that, I'm not sure though (she could teach her or something).
But again: I really do hope that she won't become an actual Jedi. Maybe she'll become force sensitive but please please please nothing more!!!!! (I mean, even if she was to become a Jedi she'd still be a lot better than Rey lmao)

Given how fucking hardcore Mandalorians are about their Space Christian “there is only one true kind of Mandalorian and it’s my very specific set of criteria that ignores 70% of the population at the bare minimum and mildly contradicts with all of the other 1562 definitions people have in a way that I’ve decided means holy war” nonsense, it just makes me all the more curious to know what in the hell Tarre Vizsla did.
If becoming leader of Mandalore is an uphill climb, Tarre started underground. One of the few things Mandalorians agree on is that Jedi are their enemies. And yet Tarre strolls out of the Jedi Order with a black-bladed lightsaber and not only does he become leader, he becomes so memorable and so revered that his lightsaber becomes the symbol of Mandalorian leadership for a thousand years.
Did he invent beskar? Did he fight his way through an army to climb on that throne and then refuse to budge? Was he just really good at taxation and imports and all that boring stuff that actual government requires and they couldn’t overthrow him without their infrastructure collapsing?
“No Mandalorian warrior will ever accept a Jedi on the throne!”
“Oh, what a shame. I guess I’ll just have to settle for the Mandalorian workers, Mandalorian artisans, Mandalorian merchants, Mandalorian scholars, Mandalorian inventors, and literally every other non-noble who’ve joined me because they’re tired of the Houses breaking their stuff over petty squabbles. Good thing warriors don’t need to eat, right? Cause I’ve also got the Mandalorian farmers and they are really tired of you burning their fields.”

BAD BATCH S3 TRAILER SPOILERS AS WELL AS S2 SPOILERS :^]
Tumblr media
ITS FUCKING CROSSHAIR
Oh yeah it's theory time babyyyy
Tumblr media
**I'm gonna focus on episode titles "The return", "identity crisis" and "Point of no return" so here we go!**
I was rewatching the bad batch s3 trailer when I noticed a few things, more notably the background here:
Tumblr media
That's Pabu, note the large mountain- but how could the empire find it? It's simple. They didn't. Episode 5: The return hints that we see an old friend or enemy, my guess is that it's tech. Hemlock saying that the goggles were all he could salvage must have been a lie. He **stole** Tech's body and has done something to it, leading to his "identity crisis" (episode 10). Back to talking about Pabu though- How did they find it? Tech did. Tech's brain is being used similar to that of Echo's for information, but with the host body (Tech) being used by a false identity forged by Hemlock as an experiment. This is why he's past the "Point of no return", he's trapped inside his mind like a virus that's taken hostage of the body; he's stuck and he needs CF99 to set him free again. I've seen people say that the person in the front is Crosshair, but he's being held captive on whatsitcalled so it can't be him.

Sifo-Dyas Wasn’t Supposed to Die: or The Worst Theory Ever
“All the things you should have stopped, but you didn’t, and nothing will ever be right again. And the things you’ve done,” he whispered. “By the pitiless stars, the things you’ve done…” -Dooku (on Dooku), Yoda: Dark Rendezvous by Sean Stewart
Theory: Dooku killed Sifo-Dyas not because it was planned, but to stop Sidious chucking his former best friend alive into a Jedi-torturing cave to use him as a vision-powered early warning system for his prequel era plots. (A horrible detail not of my own invention, but the exact fate Yoda sees happening to Sifo-Dyas in the Clone Wars episode where he has that Sidious-created vision.)
Tumblr media
Anyway, STRAP IN FOR MY WORST IDEA EVER. I hear you. I hear you. Oh Jess, does your Dooku apologist garbage know no limits?! But I’m not giving Dooku a pass here, even if this is a somewhat more palatable version of events than Dooku just killing Sifo-Dyas because Sidious said so, depending on your interpretation of palatable. I realize this sounds like a stretch, but I hope I have convincing-enough evidence to back up my claims and show my work. I really believe that some things which make utterly no sense in the whole Dooku Murders Sifo-Dyas to Take Over the Clone Plot story arc suddenly become actually reasonable, or at least more clear, if you look at it all through the lens of this possibility.
Killing Sifo-Dyas Makes No Sense (for anybody)
Let’s be real: Sifo-Dyas’s murder fucking sucks, and this is even by Dooku’s admittedly poor murder standards. It’s both bad and stupid; you push even lightly on the plan with logic and it falls apart.
For some reason, instead of killing this important person who could ruin all his plans himself, Dooku hires some criminals he doesn’t even trust (apparently for good reason, as they turn around and keep evidence to blackmail him) to do the job. The logistics of this are further complicated and stupid: Sifo-Dyas isn’t even supposed to be where he ends up getting killed; he’s unexpectedly off on a different side mission from the mission he’s originally on. That would imply that this was something of a crime of opportunity, instead of something Dooku spent a long time meticulously planning - something of a relief, since Dooku would have to be trying to do a worse job at this. There’s even a civilian witness to the attack who, of course, survives.
Miraculously, the crash does manage to kill Sifo-Dyas (perhaps the only successful part of the whole fucking plot) but then, they move his corpse, so if this is a whole “stage a believable crash death to hide the murder element and buy time for the Clone Wars plot” thing, it’s missing a pretty key component. Then they further fuck that up by forgetting to take his very distinctive lightsaber out of the crash site, definitely linking Sifo-Dyas to whatever happened there. As a cherry on top of this disastrous murder sundae, Dooku then can’t resist Jedi Funeral burning Sifo’s body, in front of a bunch of fucking witnesses no less. He probably uglycried in front of them too, but now this is just my speculation.
But even if the murder was perfectly executed, WHICH IT WASN'T, killing Sifo-Dyas creates a tangible link back to Dooku, from the physical evidence to the established association between the characters - a trail of breadcrumbs Anakin and Obi-Wan are easily able to follow back as is explored in the Clone Wars “Lost One” episode. And Dooku knows better; he used to be a Jedi who helped with Jedi death investigations, as we see in Tales. Killing Sifo-Dyas opens up a whole host of “whys” and extra attention at a time when the Sith need what happened on Kamino to stay very quiet.
And why murder someone who is already actively working with you? Especially when Sifo-Dyas needs the clones to stay secret too? Dooku seems already to have had everything he needed in terms of access to the Kaminoans, as he’s able to successfully pull off the plan without Sifo-Dyas after his death. He’s also the one with the money, he’s got the connection to Jango; he could have easily gone behind his back. And furthermore, Sifo-Dyas trusted him - seemingly a large narrative reason for bothering to detail their long friendship and history of trying to change vision outcomes. Books like Dooku: Jedi Lost do a lot of work to establish that Sifo-Dyas could have had reason to go to Dooku in good faith and expect him to listen.
Keeping Sifo-Dyas Alive Makes Sense (for Sidious)
This idea about the Sith Torture cave is not my random invention. Sidious uses a vision of Sifo-Dyas trapped for 12 years in a Jedi-torturing cave to fuck with Yoda – and let’s be real, probably also Dooku, who does not look like he’s having a good time in this episode. In fact, Sidious used Dooku’s blood as a ritual component to CREATE the vision. (There being enough love/bond/connection left in Dooku’s blood to use it to attack Yoda after he’s been a Sith for 12 years is probably another horrible post.) But this seems to establish the alternative cave scenario for Sifo-Dyas as something that both Sidious and Dooku have at least thought about, and are still thinking about, years after his death, and powerfully enough to weave it into a vision.
And can you imagine how interested Sidious is in Sifo-Dyas’s powers, especially if they’re offering spoiler trailers for all of his favorite plans? He is very interested in prophecy, the future, and arguably uses some of those aspects in his manipulation of Anakin. Sifo-Dyas represents both a great threat and a great opportunity to a Sith Lord whose multi-tentacle plans are endlessly convoluted, and by their very nature require multiple contingency plans. How advantageous to have someone around whose one weird power is seeing alternative possible futures?
Keeping Sifo-Dyas alive but captive removes the only other person who knows the exact details about the Clone plot while preserving something potentially very valuable to Sidious. And there’s a further positive: a problem with the whole secret weapon clone army situation is that they need to be revealed at the pivotal moment in the new war. Someone trusted needs to tell the Jedi Council about the Clone Army and convince them to use them in the crisis. Who better to do this than producing beloved, missing Master Sifo-Dyas (who ten years of torture in a Sith cave has made very cooperative and corrupted indeed) to reveal the army to the Republic?
In Conclusion
But... Sifo-Dyas was his best friend, once, and Dooku chokes. Sentimentality, if not outright lingering love, is a flaw for Dooku as a Sith, and one he trips over repeatedly throughout his atrocities. And we can’t confuse this with actual valor. He doesn’t try to save Sifo-Dyas, only give him a less insanely brutal fate. He orders his death, and it’s a sloppy rush job for all the reasons you might expect from a sudden change of plan, and possibly, the need to kill him before Sidious figured out what he was actually doing. This might even explain him using a third party to do the job: he has plausible deniability to say “well, I ordered them to capture him, but they fucked it up.” Which of course, they did.
Bonus Round
This theory would also explain two lingering clues we have about Sifo-Dyas’s death involving the behavior of the two guilty participants around the topic:
Dooku
Dooku is really putting the “lie” in “unreliable narrator” during this era, so it can be difficult (and perhaps foolish) to look too deeply into his reactions. But I think it’s fair to say that Dooku acts “pretty fucking weird” about Sifo-Dyas’s death.
In the Lost One episode, he makes an impassioned appeal to Obi-Wan about joining him (a favorite topic of Dooku’s), claiming that Sifo-Dyas understood what he was doing and worked with him willingly. This conversation is only taking place because they caught Dooku in the literal fucking act of covering up evidence of Sifo-Dyas’s murder. It’s not like anyone is unclear about what they’re doing here. Dooku knows. Obi-Wan and Anakin know. Dooku knows that they know. And yet, he still, seemingly genuinely, wants to tell them that Sifo-Dyas sought him out and worked with him. “Join me, just like this guy I ended up murdering” is not a great argument, and Dooku has to know that. So what is the source of his doublethink on this topic? What’s the detail he’s holding onto that’s letting him keep his elaborate palace of denial intact here?
In Tales of the Jedi, Dooku makes an unclear, brief, stammering mention of Sifo-Dyas in the list of the things he’s done for Sidious, and yet killing Yaddle outright is an obvious difficult struggle for him, and narratively shown as a clear before/after moment for Dooku’s fall. The Sith ghost version of Dooku in the Yoda comic outright calls her his first kill. (Lol, Ramil Serenno would like a word.) But you’d think murdering his former best friend who was actively working with him would be a bigger deal? There's this pattern where it almost seems as if Dooku thinks about what happened to Sifo-Dyas differently than his other kills, as if he has some reason to think what he did was less bad or more necessary, even insisting on repeating the absurd “we were working together” narrative when it really has lost relevance in light of how that ended up.
Sidious
Sidious is as onscreen physically violent to Dooku as we ever see him in non-Legends canon in the Lost One Sifo-Dyas episode. He goes into the conversation angry and ends up choking Dooku out over holocomm. If Dooku did, as we assume, exactly what Sidious wanted him to in killing Sifo-Dyas back 10-12 years ago, why does he come into that conversation so violently furious and willing to outright hurt Dooku in a way that he doesn't over other mistakes?
Bonus Bonus Round
In season 5, I suspect the reason we got Sifo-Dyas being tortured in the Sith cave in Yoda’s vision was because Clone Wars was going to make this reveal (and make it so that this was indeed Sifo-Dyas’s fate in the new canon), storyboard or animated part of it, and then decided not to and recycled the images for Yoda’s vision. My pure speculation, but it would fit with their pattern of unused/scrapped/recycled Clone Wars storylines.

That’s it! That’s all! You can’t get the time you spent reading this post back, but now this horrible theory lives in your head too.

Three figures… three faces… / Now, these three figures appear throughout the Jedi’s history. / Morai? (I am Daughter.) She’s an old friend. / What is this place? (Unlike any other,) a conduit through which the entire Force of the universe flows. / The painting on the temple is like a star map, but none that I’m familiar with. / I think we want this one, where the lines are together. / It takes a master and an apprentice. / Listen. Kanan said to listen. || It’s art, everything has a meaning. —Ahsoka, e1 “Master and Apprentice”; Rebels, s4e13 “A World Between Worlds”; The Clone Wars, s3e15 “Overlords”; Rebels, s4e12 “Wolves and a Door”
me, head in my hands: stop thinking about the parallels, stop thinking about the stupid slow sequence in episode 1 with the figures and the lines and the [mysterious voices] and ahsoka pressing her montrals against the column with her eyes closed like she was listening, stop thinking about threes and mortis and morai and the world between worlds plot device, it’s not that deep, stop-

Okay, but who is in Vader’s eye in his poster?
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan in all the other posters is holding a lightsaber, like in the fifth brother’s poster. See Obi-Wan in Tala’s poster:

But this is Vader’s poster:
Tumblr media
Is that meant to be Obi-Wan without a lightsaber, symbolizing Obi-Wan’s reluctance to fight Vader?? Or is it…someone else? Vader’s past self? Or someone else entirely? WHO IS THAT!!??
We need to know.
(why tf does it kind of look like Maul)

no I don't think you understand how fucking complex anakin's whole story is because he is the compassionate, altruistic, loving and fearless light side he is also reckless and impatient and cruel monster feared by the whole empire. yes he was manipulated and his story was a tragedy and by the crucial end when he tried to do the right thing he had to choose between duty and love and he choose love because it was all he ever wanted from the misery life he had yet at the same time this choice turn all his passion into hatred and there was no space left for love that was not treated as weaknesses so he murdered his older brother that have always trusted him he stop listening to padme even though he did it all for her he blamed ahsoka for what he became but he knew it was all himself because it was - yes there was still good in him but it didn't erase everything he did willingly as vader. because he was the chosen one and as the chosen one he could be both brutally kind and astonishing cruel at the same damn time to the point that in death he managed to control those two sides as the prophecy told, as the Father told him. anakin skywalker has the balance of the force within himself so no wonder he could only manage such power when he had no body to limit him.
