Unique Magic: "What Once was Mine" Through the use of magical herbs and alchemy, Ezra is able to capture the likeness of himself and other individuals. He can share and change other's physical features with these concoctions, ranging anywhere from shoe size to facial structure to vocal coords. These changes last as long as he desires as well as under his own set conditions at the cost of requiring outside materials to complete. Typically the magic is contained in what appears to be a type of spice or powder, and the change leaves a mark/tattoo on the individual which the magic is cast to indicate what exactly was changed.

The man has been around for a long time and has been through his own share of ordeals, so he would most definitely know.

He has a big heart. While he goes about an odd, constrictive way of showing it, he does truly care. He has a hard time letting things go, and he simply wants the best for those he cares for. Ezra would spoil every single one of his students rotten if he were able. Even as a rather new professor at NRC, he wishes to guide every single one of them on the right path.

Author's Notes: ARGHHH MY BOY... Ezra is a very new character I made only a few months ago. He was created specifically for TCOAV, but alas I have grown attached. Given we already have quite a few gaslight gatekeep girlboss type characters over here, I decided to focus more on twisting different aspects of Mother Gothel. I particularly focused on her parental tendencies as well as her means of "caring" for Rapunzel. Whereas whether Gothel truly cares for Rapunzel or not is still up in the air, and they truly had a toxic relationship nonetheless, I wanted to make Ezra a more misguided but good individual.

J-Fashion Terms for Beginners Part 2

Guro Lolita: A substyle of Lolita fashion; this is one of the few variants to stray away from the innocence and gentleness of styles like Classic and Sweet Lolita. Unlike the more well-known Gothic Lolita, Guro Lolita ignores mysteriousness and literal darkness, and instead goes for shock horror. In it's inception, Guro Lolita coords were notorious for always fitting into one mold, a white/shiro dress splattered in fake blood. Eventually, Guro Lolita evolved into a much more complex and nuanced style. One of it's perks nowadays is that despite it's association with the strictness of Lolita fashion, it is very versatile in that the coords may range from cutesy Yami Kawaii hospital prints, to dark and dreary horror patterns. It is seldom worn as an everyday style due to how over the top it is (and it's usually worn on Halloween by more mainstream Lolita enjoyers), but exceptions exist.

Iryou Kei: Translating literally as "medical type" or "nurse type", this fashion style originated from the Visual Kei music genre. As many Vkei bands (who are famous and infamous for their elaborate costumes, outside of Casual Visual Kei of course) this style is focused on being visually shocking. Iryou Kei performers tend to dress up as either blood splattered doctors, evil nurses and any other medical staff you wouldn't want to see in a state like this. You could say that Iryou Kei takes the elegance of Lolita, the rock elements of Visual Kei and the grotesque nature of Gurokawa, and transforms it into it's own medically horrifying thing. Some known Iryou Kei bands include but are not limited to: LuLu, +ISOLATION, and Sex Android.

Busukawaii: Translated literally as "ugly cute", this aesthetic is also occasionally called Kimokawaii or "disgusting cute". In real life there are many animals and critters that look unpleasant but you can't help but want to squeeze them, Busukawaii is based around this principle. For a short while Busukawaii was a bit of a meme on Japanese social media websites where one would do Yume Kawaii or pastel edits of ugly, plain or strange characters and people. Then it grew it its own lesser art movement. There aren't any fashions with this style outside of prints with those adorably ugly, plain or just strange looking characters mentioned earlier.

NEW ART !? It's more likely than you think !

I've redesigned Léa's Magical form again, but this time around I've actually colored (& shaded) the whole thing ; I'll share more of my process under the read more.

So this is Léa's old Magical form, or at least the last art of it I had completed before the 2024 version :

I was going for a fancy, somewhat ouji inspired outfit that'd still be comfortable to wear, as Léa Acorn's style is all about being cute yet comfy. Their body saw no change from their regular form.

I think I was already not fully satisfied with this design by the end of 2021, but as time went on my list of grievances kept growing longer. I started to dislike how much of the design was pure white ; it's not really something I like on Magical Girl designs but for some reason I included it here, probably because I was trying to branch out and take inspiration from series like Lolirock & Pretty Cure for once. I also ended up finding the jacket kinda dumb, or at least the way it fit on top of the shirt seemed off. I had no idea how to color the shoes when I drew this design and it was bugging me more and more over time.

But while I fell out of love with the outfit, my main grievance was the staff-paintbrush-scythe hybrid, which was not only drawn poorly but also pretty boring. I couldn't help but try to redesign it just a month or two after completing the new ref, but I didn't want to redo the whole thing as back then I still made my refs in Microsoft Publisher with the help of Photofiltre, which was a slow and painful process I dreaded.

So between my laziness, art block and the general state of my life I wasn't able to complete any new design before this year (2024). Let's break down this new design, shall we ?

This was my main inspo board this time around :

As you can see I kept the lolita/ouji influence but added some streetwear elements to it. I felt like the previous design didn't do a great job showcasing the mix of preppy prince & comfy fashion Léa are supposed to encapsulate, so I brought up pictures of a character that had only influenced their story and personality so far : Sora from Kingdom Hearts !

It's not something I bring up a lot anymore, but I used to be well-versed in Kingdom Hearts lore and Léa's story was heavily influenced by it ; they were even supposed to fight with a keyblade at one point ! Design-wise, I borrowed the length of Sora's shorts/jumpsuit for Léa's bloomers, and replaced their cropped suit jacket by a short-sleeved hoodie (which also mirrors some of their Sonic.exe world designs). I mixed these elements with lolita items for a cuter look.

Léa share my love of ties, so I've replaced their bow tie by a regular one ; it's somewhat short to showcase their shirt, which is a revamped version of the old one.

For the legwear I took inspiration from some long flowy legwarmers I saw in a few fairy kei coords, and also the shoes from this CocoPPaDolls screenshot I've taken years ago, back when the game was still up :

And of course I needed the shoes to be velcro LED shoes, because that's just the Léa Acorn way.

The rounded pink heart-shaped gems throughout the outfit were somewhat inspired by Amulet Heart from Shugo Chara.

Talking about gems, time to talk about the staff ! It was inspired by Amulet Spade's paintbrush, some Lolirock items, and a bunch of bootleg Magical Girl wands. Why reference bootleg wands, you might ask ? Well, since they're already off compared to the real deals, they allow me to not design wands that are too similar to ones from well-known properties.

I've been meaning to make Léa's eyes pink in their magical form for years but didn't actually follow through for a while. I ended up making their eyes brownish pink to not make their eyes too light, as I felt like it'd remove some of their charm (I already felt guilty for not keeping their eyes brown in this form). And of course, I had to bedazzle their eyes to hell and back.

Actually all this shininess and sparkling was inspired by the original drawing of Léa's Magical Form drawn all the way back in 2017 and redrawn in 2018 :

For some reason I took a lot of inspiration from Sailor Moon for these despite Léa's role being inspired by Card Captor Sakura (and Kingdom Hearts). Also Wish Gems used to be called "Magical Chaos Emeralds" and look just like the regular Chaos Emeralds, which was kinda dumb. But I loved the energy of these pieces so I've tried to recapture the "sparkly pink magical transformation void" vibes they had ; I hope I've succeeded on that front.

how would the hermitcraft and avm crossover happen in-universe

ANYWAYS, yeah. so before i start let me tell you the minecraft universe in my head sometimes only makes sense to me bc i think abt things Way too much and also sometimes i dream abt how possibly the 4th + 5th dimensions would work for the eyes of a tridimensional being- basically my brain is just Like This,

so we start with this explanation, not with the common everyday minecraft, but with the minecraft from the story mode game (bear with me-)

So basically, in the first minecraft story mode after the wither storm is defeated completely, jesse and the new order of the stone go on adventures trough portals to different kinds of worlds which seem to have different generations in terms of the terrain n world And also sometimes gamerules (like how it seems in the world where jesse lives is a hardcore one, like most others they visit, while the one with the mini-games people can respawn)

and yeah, i am aware in the case of mcsm, all portals have different blocks used to get to those worlds while in avm is with only nether portals. but listen.

there's one connection between these two that would make possible the crossover in-universe (or well. in the minecraft universe in my head):

players.

in mcsm, the various mcyt that appear in the first and second season, and in avm, the kid that was playin minecraft. who second and red used the email from to return to alan's pc. So in a way the minecraft from mcyt has a connection to mcsm, and the minecraft from mcsm has a Possibility of a connection to avm

like is Literally a fine thread of a connection, but if youre insane enough (like me) it kinda makes sense, yknow

but anyways, in my head it would work smth like this:

the nether from avm seems to be like—a central point of that universe. it connects everything and everyone, so you can travel to Completely different minecraft worlds with their own rules and terrain from there. maybe is depending on where you are in that nether, like... very specific coords, or with something else added to the mix, like with the help of the command block staff and other powerful things...

the thing here is, with some luck, one of those worlds can be Also one of the hundreds that are in the portal hall in mcsm, and from there just find the one that seems to connect to the wider mcyt universe and boom. a purple stickman (which is not so stick anymore at that point, but this also has a reason dw <- head full, many thoughts) is suddenly in hermitcraft-

I think Sena's voice has really improved over the years but yeah she was really young and inexperienced in Stars, I like her singing but it was definitely a little rough

It's not like they releaased figures (except ones that were way too delicate for their target audience + too expensive), they really missed the mark there. Ahhh I actually really like Raki... I understand people dislking her 100000% because she DID like. Personally design her own Jeweling rare which is supposed to be purely made from magic, not designed by anyone, she designed her own star wings which can only be gifted by the system, same with the wings for her zodiac coord like Ichigo gen. So it's not just that she took most of her inspo from existing coords, she just kind of broke all the rules somehow and nobody in-show was like THATS IMPOSSIBLE????

But Idk I like her! I love her design, her voice actor (also voiced Wakaba) is great, I honestly wish she got more songs. I think it just made sense for her to be there. Even if Parade was just meant to get excitement + money back up for Planet's release, there was some love put into it for people who grew up with the series, and everyone kind of takes care of Raki. She's an excited kid obsessed with the idea of Aikatsu in general and tbh I see myself when I was like 13 diving into all of it, she's like a representation for new and old fans that just love it and want to be a part of it. She wasn't supposed to be a super fleshed out character, just kind of a tour guide along the show

Hinaki & Yume's voice actors actually had a unit irl too for a little bit, Min☆na, they've disbanded now and the song's werent my vibe but good for them!!

DONT BUY THE AIKATSU GAMES ITS SO EXPENSIVE + THEYRE REGION LOCKED. You can play them on a PC on Citra though, and if you turn up the graphics quality it looks sol so much better than on a console- basically like you're playing the akari gen DCD!

I have all of them! Only 2 are worth playing imo, most don't have many songs or coords but these are powerhouses

Aikatsu! My No. 1 Stage features every single Ichigo/Akari gen song up till the last like 15, stages and dances included, it's crazy. It had a good amount of coords for most brands, only a couple for dolly devil and mecha panic but there's a lot of fun mix and match stuff you can do! The dressup system is the same as the arcade game so you can swap PRs and everything.

The gameplay is really simple, short visual novel-style stories to unlock songs, play songs to unlock coord cards. The outfits you use do effect special appeals too!! I play it sometimes, but mostly I mess around with outfits in MV mode and just watch

The other game is Aikatsu Stars! My Special Appeal. This is the only stars game sadly, and it doesn't have a lot of songs, but there's a few cute new animations in the mvs (i.e. in tsu•ba•sa, you can't have just one character, so before the song starts your two backup dancers help you out of the throne, idk its just cute)

It does have 1,000 outfit pieces though...! A lot of the brandless coords were included this time. No berry parfait, but all the other brands before it are included (one PR per brand) and nobody from venus ark (😭) but it looks nice and again, it's fun to play with outfits!

The gameplay is the same as the other game. And in this one you get to make your own character with a few customization options for hair & eyes!

Honestly, I don't think playing to get all the coords is worth it, it really takes a long time and you're just repeating the same thing over and over to get it (and usually get duplicate pieces which don't do anything)

I have a save file for each game, with all songs & coords unlocked though! If you're interested in trying either of them I can send those too with the roms (And if you haven't used citra I don't mind explaining how to add the saves!)

Yeah I’ve seen the figures before and they’re always ridiculously expensive and I’m like ‘oh come on I’m broke and want to be an idol here’ plus they didn’t even have the coords which is like the best part??? Come on???

I think I like ( while knowing very little about Parade) seeing Raki more as a superfan/vehicle for idol display rather than a full fleshed character, although I really wish she didn’t just straight up break the aikatsu system. I saw her star wings outfit and was definitely confused by why the wings were on her in her whole performance. If anything, she should have gotten them when she made her true PR and actually debuted her brand. I do think her va’s origin is super cute though!

Unfortunately I have never used Citra before and am very new to emulators (I’ve used melonDS like three times maybe) so I would definitely need help with whatever rom stuff you’re mentioning lol, I am not good with that stuff at all. I’m not too bad at rhythm games, though, so I think it would be really fun to try the games out! Maybe that’ll be better than trying to teach myself Idol Activity from the stage videos on YouTube lol!

Thoughts on Kryptos

Herewith, my thoughts about the Kryptos puzzle.

1) The words "BERLIN CLOCK" are useful as hints to the cipher. But the clue about the Berlin clock itself is probably a red herring at the level we've reached.

If that clue hadn't been given, you'd only have found the reference to the clock once you'd solved the cipher where you already needed to know about it.

(On the other hand, it could be a cryptic definition of the Enigma machine.)

2) no part of K4 can possibly require knowledge of the solution to the stage afterwards. (You would think this would be clearer, but people don't always note it.)

3) [this one thanks to Kit] All the messages so far are about burial. Thus:

a) There is possibly something buried in real life, although probably not at the coords given; burying important clues on CIA land would make the puzzle unsolvable by the public, and too easy for the CIA staff who would have seen it built

b) K4 (the passage containing "Berlin clock") is about burial; how can that be?

4) the ideas of burial, and "layer two" etc, make me suspect that Kryptos should actually be read in three dimensions: the "z" axis is some ordering of

0 and 1: the two ciphertext squares 2 and 3: the two Vigenère squares, which may as well be treated as part of the ciphertext for K4 (we might not need to use them) 4 and 5: the plaintext of 0 and 1, not all of which is known

and that each letter of the K4 ciphertext should be read as a coordinate. It's presumably significant that the codeword for K1 was PALIMPSEST, i.e. a document buried beneath another document, and the codeword for K2 was ABSCISSA, which means "x-coordinate".

5) we know from the "BERLIN CLOCK" clue that there are as many characters in the plaintext as in the ciphertext.

6) I am going to assume that if we knew all three coordinates for each position in the ciphertext, then the character at that position is the plaintext.

7) [this is speculative] where could we get a coordinate?

a) it's the same as the row or column of the ciphertext symbol b) it's constant c) some row or column of the characters on the Vigenère tables is a label for the axis perpendicular to it— not necessarily always the same one d) it increases arithmetically and wraps as needed

8) There is a linebreak between "BER" and "LINCLOCK", which may be a hint that position is worth paying attention to.

9) the columns are 16 characters tall. The text of K4 begins at the 64th character on its panel, counting left to right and then top to bottom. 64 is a simple multiple of 16.

9) I have done some analysis, but not enough.

You can test a hypothesis by matching the letters BERLIN to NYPVTT (forwards), or vice versa (backwards).

I must apologise for the lack of description here: I wrote the code and made the images in 2019, and only just found it again-- so I don't have the full details.

Forwards:

Backwards:

The x and y of each chart are the rows of each panel of ciphertext. If there is any instance of any of the desired mapping pairs from the "x" row to the "y" row, the square at that junction is striped in the colours for that pair; otherwise it's grey.

If there was a full match, you would see a row or column of [red, orange, yellow, green, blue]. There is no such line, but "forwards" has a match for the first four, and "backwards" for the first three. And, as I said in point 8 above, there is a linebreak in the original after BER. So either of the two examples of strips of rainbow squares matching BER might turn out to be half of a positive result.

Further exploration is needed!
