August 19 he visits the Rams game in the Sofi Stadium, LA together with Nic R, AN and Marina C. A fan recognized him as well.
On Aug 24th he posted a video probably at Runyon Canyon or the HH Hills. Presumably recent. The next day, August 25th, he posted a pic with NR at Pharos Echopark, for sure a latergram as NR was already back home, and as we learned S himself took a flight out of LA, spotted by a fan. He flew to Kansas City for a private con on August 26th, organised by Sasnak City. he was a guest together with Duncan L and Charles V. Some more info was revealed later during a live IG of attendees.

Boston Switch is the junction in Central Falls, RI, where the 4.4 mile connector built by the Boston & Providence from its original mainline at East Junction joined the Providence & Worcester which had the first route from the north to the Union Depot on the Providence Cove. Thereafter both RR's used the route from Central Falls to Providence under a joint ownership arrangement. It later became the New Haven. The tower is SS 156 which closed in 1935 but still stands though soon to be razed. You can see the P&W home signal on the left side of the photo.
Mentioned a little while ago I wanted to take up tapestry and finally had what I needed to take the plunge.
Based on some reading and videos I decided the cheapest, easiest beginner loom would be a copper pipe loom, simplified closer to a frame loom rather than the full design recommended by Archie Brennan or Rebecca Mazoff. I also ordered some tapestry yarn so it would arrive just after I finished the loom.
Got the supplies from Home Depot. Did NOT use my brand new copper piping to beat the guy who was as helpful as he was sexist (Home Depot employees assume I’m incompetent. Lowe’s employees always talk loudly about how predictable and easy to spot shoplifters are...)
Cut the pipe down to measured lengths (BEFORE putting it in my ‘little subaru’ Jeep, Mr. Helpful) and assembled it in a rectangle with measured tape. I then spent two hours on the internet before figuring out that a tapestry sampler and an embroidery sampler have basically nothing in common. My yarn order arrived shortly after, right on time.
Procrastinated for a month because a bunch of minor things riled my ADHD again. This is a key step in the tapestry learning process and simply cannot be skipped.
Finally put on an audio book of Walter Lord’s A Night to Remember, broke out the undyed cottolin , and did this:
This picture belongs in the dictionary under ‘warp’ because it shows two kinds.
Choosing to make my loom this big should have keyed me in that I need at least one more support arm... and maybe the screws included in Brennan’s design... but, absolute beginner, these are learning points.
Winding, spacing, and securing six inches took me the entire five hours of A Night to Remember. It was tedious work but the only time I got annoyed was when the SS Carpathian was mentioned or the myth of the boozy baker. (Don’t know what I’m talking about? Read the book!)
Hopefully I’ll start the weft before another month passes...
Two weeks after the MidwestFest bonanza was Whip Addict Car Show. Much like last year, I still loved the location since it was conveniently located in downtown Atlanta at the Home Depot Backyard. Depending on how the cars were parked, you could get a gorgeous view of the Atlanta skyline. At times, this show felt more like a family reunion more so than a car show, since every three steps I took, I ran into a familiar face. Most importantly, I still saw cars I’ve never seen before… and I didn’t have drive far to do so. Win for me. So my favorite shots goes as follows.. I’m setting things off with this Chevy Deluxe on @rucciwheels . I loved the color of this ’87 Chevy Silverado. @veltboy_314 Monte Carlo SS on MTW Wheels. @87_bloodsport ’s Chevy Monte Carlo on Forgiato Wheels, @jric82bonilla ’s Caprice Classic parked in the entrance of the show. @whipsbywade ’s ’85 Buick Regal on Forgiato Wheels. @CountryCalii ’s ’74 Impala on Rucci Wheels. @magic.city.classic ’s ’71 Impala on Dayton Wire Wheels. And these final two photos will show you what I meant when I said depending on how the cars were parked, you can get the Atlanta skyline in the background… @shortypimpatl ‘ s Caprice Classic on @amaniforged Wheels and @KNK_performance ’s Oldsmobile Cutlass on Rucci Wheels. Me, swatting the reptile community with a rolled up newspaper: Stop! Using! Deep heat projectors as your primary heat source!!!
Reptile keepers: but bright light stresses out my animal!
Your enclosure isnt bright!! If you used a lux meter, you would find that even a cloudy day is much brighter than all of your lights combined!
Them: Deep heat projectors are basically the same as halogens.
Bullsh*t they are. Natural sunlight has 32% IR-A. Halogens have 38%. Deep heat projectors have 8%. And they dont produce any light!
Stop it! Stop doing that! And get that ugly @ss HVAC tape/plexiglass/tin foil off your lid. It isnt natural or healthy to breathe in stagnant air. Buy a bag of topsoil from Home Depot, throw it in there, and pour water on it. Humidity solved. ✅
Nails Vs Screws: The Best Fastener For Any Project
My thinking on this topic has changed over the years as a end result of I’ve been able to see what happens to decks over time. Years in the past as a younger carpenter / builder, I thought nails were nice. After all, we used nails to border homes and houses have stood for tons of of years being nailed collectively. Now I’m of the state of mind that nails are an inferior fastener when constructing a deck that gets wet on an everyday basis. One such instance could be some picket playsets the place the entire hardware is provided...
ss deck screws
Some of them will cut up, crack, and dent, ruining what can otherwise be an excellent decking board. They’ll also be capable of set up your deck rapidly and effectively, with each nails or screws the place they’re wanted. We discovered Sam and his Dad at Brazilian Wood Depot, and defined everything that happened.
Further extra the utilization of screws on plywood has a more a good lock on the wood they do that by creating their very own channel, inflicting the bodily bond on the wooden to be stronger. The last thing you'd need to do is, have a construction accomplished at your personal home done wrongly. If you build a deck with the incorrect screws, you may end up with a pile of rubble. Wood screws are available in a variety of completely different forms to go properly with numerous woodworking initiatives.
The last option is to install the subfloor with screws, this being probably the most safe potential method of attaching the subflooring. Plywood in home building is nearly always supported by 2”x 4” framing, with the plywood being nailed to the framing, via the thickness of the plywood. There isn't any threat of the plywood splitting on this case, because the nails aren't getting into into the edge of the plywood.
All the screws are rated and really helpful for decks. I suppose they are much simpler than nails, and elimination in case of mistakes is WAY easier. If you have plenty of joist hangers find a metallic connector nailer. They shoot 1.5" nails with constructive placement, meaning you could shoot them into hangers with dead on accuracy. Once I received one I not often return to screws or hand nailing them.

I just learned that the Adrestia would have had a below deck crew of 170!! :O
Sounds about right. Half of them were ladies Kassandra bedded during her travels and the other half were Olympic athletes Kassandra picked up in Elis during the 88th Olympiad.

We honor WW2's #InvisibleWarriors!
By Miriam Kleiman, Public Affairs
Why does Rosie get all the credit when Black women ALSO served overseas and on the home front? In recognition of Black History Month (Feb) and Women's History Month (March), we honor the hundreds of thousands of Black women who worked at factories and shipyards during World War II, but whose contributions were largely unrecognized - until now. Invisible Warriors, the new documentary by historian Gregory Cooke, tells the stories of the first Black women to work in industry and government administrative service.
National Archives images from the Office of War Information’s Domestic News Branch show some of the many ways Black women contributed to the war effort.

At one location alone – Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, CA – nearly 1,000 Black women worked as burners, welders, and scalers to help build the Liberty Ship, SS George Washington Carver. “Meet” some of those women below.

I wonder about Soul Society’s (well, specifically Seireitei’s) relationship to buildings. Because on one hand a lot of their structures and institutions are, by human measure, old as hell. On the other hand, their actual Society--also by human measure--seems relatively young. If everything’s only a thousand or two years old, I mean. And in spite of the fact that a decent portion of their populace was like, alive for this entire span of history, institutional/individual memory does not seem particularly strong. (Whether that’s by political design or biology is another question I think about a lot.)
BUT THE BUILDINGS SPECIFICALLY. They seem to get blown up a lot (and significantly more often if we’re including movie and filler canon), and given that rate of decimation I feel like the Seireitei probably can’t be all that precious about their buildings. But like, do they have buildings they actually care about? Do they have places that they will spend their entire shinigami lifetimes repairing? I mean, they have things like the Soukyoku Hill and the Soul King Palace (I know nothing about this place; while it was being explained my soul left my body and I wasn’t paying attention), and the Seireitei itself was obviously built very intentionally. And I assume the noble families have castles and whatnot they’re proud of.
And like, there are protocols and tools specifically for the preservation of buildings in the living realm (and, you know, the lives being lived within them), in ways that aren’t often discussed in this type of series. Like, goddamn, they moved an entire Karakura lol. Not specifically for the buildings per se, but it’s not as though they didn’t not take the buildings. But is that because they share this feeling that buildings are important, or is it more of a “humans really care about this stuff and it matters to them” thing? Because not all of their engagements with the living realm are that well thought-through. (See: The way their gikongan run around, and the ways that none of them really seem to care what kind of ruckus ensues, lol.)
Not that it matters, really, I just think it’s interesting to think about the potential that shinigami have a different relationship to buildings than humans do for x, y, z, reasons, mostly that they are naturally more ephemeral in SS because they keep getting blown to shit. And none of the buildings are all that nice or even distinctive in SS anyway. I’m not even sure you could argue that all of their buildings are exceptionally functional because half the time you look at the bgs and you’re like “literally why is this room like this” (or at least I am).
Anyway, I just keep thinking about post-TYBW and having to rebuild everything with a population suddenly vastly reduced. Everything has that new-construction, fresh-plywood smell. Personally, I like Home Depot smell--but maybe it’s the first time for a lot of these shinigami that that smell feels sad. Buildings have always come and gone to some degree, it’s just part of it, but now that smell feels inextricable from loss.
His 18-year-old son was driving a new company truck for the first time and was a little inexperienced. At the parking lot of Home Depot, the kid somehow pissed off a woman driving a late 1960's El Camino with a badge, "SS 396," a powerful 375-hp version. Now, this part of Bakersfield is rife with meth addicts. Not exactly the safest.
A tattooed woman with bad teeth came out of the car with an aluminum baseball bat, screaming, "Motherfucker, fuck with me, boy." She hit the back of the truck and caused damage so the kid was scared and left the scene immediately before she could walk to the right window. She ran back to her El Camino and he heard her tires peel off as she drove off the parking lot to follow him. A very scary experience.
The kid got to the first stop light and she got next to him and started screaming expletives. When the light turned green, he gunned it. She also floored her pedal and the tires spun like crazy, billowing smoke, but the new company truck also had a 375-hp engine, coincidentally, so he was able to prevent her from getting in front of the truck.
The second intersection is where it got interesting. He stopped about three feet before the line and she didn't expect it, slamming her brakes to a screeching halt as she got a little ahead of him. On the crossing street was an approaching Kern County Sheriff vehicle, a big Chevrolet Suburban. The kid turned to the crazy psychotic woman opening the door of her El Camino, not paying attention to the stop light or the approaching sheriff, then he hit the gas pedal, intending to quickly hit his brakes afterwards after the line to get the approaching sheriff's attention.
She could not see above the hood of the truck, so she didn't know about the approaching sheriff. Furthermore, her eyes were fixed on him and his truck's movement led her to think the light turned green without even turning to check. She pulled her foot back in the El Camino and floored the gas pedal, sending the rear tires loudly squealing right when he slammed his brakes a few feet forward.
She moved her El Camino by a good 30 feet and slammed on her brakes when she realized the light was still red. Not only that, she jumped right in the middle of the intersection, in front of the Suburban, forcing the sheriff to take drastic measures, nearly losing control of his big Suburban and crashing in an embankment.
Oh, yeah, she got arrested - drugs, reckless driving, vandalism, and criminal threats.
