Mermaid AU: The Vorpal Sea

 So I got into a bit of a mermaid kick a little while back. And ended up doing some of my main girls as mermaids.

~Maddie the Mershark~

Ferce, strong & deadly. But just as beautiful. A warrior of her kingdom & her fellow pers look up to her & fear at the same time. The shell necklace was a gift from her mother. A sea goddess who protects the ocean.

~Charline the Sea Fairy~

A beautiful glowing light in such a vast & dark ocean. The powers she as born with came from her mother. Though she is limited to some of them. But still has her father's family powers to. A kind & well mannered young thing. But also shy & curious to humans.

~Willow the Vampire Squid~

Deadly looking, but a sweet adorable bean when you get to know her. Her likes to collect shiney & interesting human things that fall into the sea. She is also mischivous & extreamly curious. And if angered, be prepated for the sharp barbs under that cape like frill connected to her tendrals.

~Christa the Seal pup & Ashlyn the Orcamaid~

My girl Christa is a seal mermaid. Not a silkie. Just a normal seal pup. While Ashlyn here is a orca whale. A weird pair I know. Considering one is the prey for the other. But Ashlyn took in the small seal pup when she was still a baby. Now she is her adopted daughter. Christa is a fun loving individual but is serious when she is givien a task or job. Ashlyn is a strong & forgiving leader. But sadly, she has been missing sense the human she fell in love with betrayed her.

This is mostly what I have for characters. The story itself is still in the works. But I thought you guys would like to see them ^^

Guess who was inspired by Empty Brooke's (a.k.a. Ponder Sprocket's, a.k.a. B's) Mermay art, Livin' With It covers [Brendano Harns] [sir fluff btw their voice is very cute] and The Mermaid Princess's Guilty Meal manga, recommended by Manly in a let's play on a game where the aforementioned song comes from-- this sounds VERY convoluted, but that's just how it is. okay? okay

Either way, I'm not really sure what fish is the best to mermaid-fy Rob into. So I drew three options!

1. Average merman

2. Squid

And 3. Tripod fish (with reference)

If you have any suggestions on what fish to use, don't be shy to write 'em!! I don't know anything about marine biology and underwater life and I'm looking for glowy/iridescent fish to base the design from, so yeah! My DMs are always open!

Finally I get to participate in Mermay, woooo!

Part 01 of a 04 or 05 part picture story going alongside them where of course Courtney by herself is going first because the squid mermaid idea got me really excited lol 😂 Especially with the old Little Mermaid picture from the Grims Tales, and from there I think I said up till 5 am just drawing ahaha.

I won't spoil what I'm doing with Soul and Dan yet but let's just say both are at least somewhat in this one 😘

The class of Sirenia is a vast and wide net of varying aquatic humanoids. Highly dimorphic and adaptable, mermaids (or merfolk) can be found in nearly every aquatic body, be it oceans, which has the largest number of species, to ponds and lakes. This adaptability and dimorphic nature of the species has allowed them to thrive across the globe. Despite their vast differences in appearances, one thing you’ll see consistently across the various species of Merfolk is the unique “false face” adaptation.This illusionary facial feature is believed to have evolved as a defense mechanism. The “true eyes” are typically located on the far side of their heads. While it’s “false eyes” are situated at the front, like that of a human’s. These false eyes are highly sensitive receptors.

Hey there everyone! This week’s theme is: Mercephalopods!

In Beast Fables, they’re well known for their curiosity and penchant to innovate, rivaling many Merdolphin societies.

For the individuals presented here:

Janis and her Daughter Florence: Janis is the leader of a neighbouring town to Kara’s. She belives wholeheartedly in the virtues of diplomacy

Ylva the Slayer: A Giant Squid mermaid that likes challenging and slaying things.

Gladys Teutha: Collector of the strange and Werebeast trinkets... but no shipwreck-robbing though.

Rina Merapi: Collector of BONES. Shipwreck-robbing is totally fine!

Brutus and his Wives: Leader of warrior society that also neighbors Tridentfall, he’s known for his strength and his wisdom. His wives also happen to be the best warriors in his tribe.
