I had a dream last night and I-- I wrote a thing.

Slamming his fists on the ground, a trail of spiked ice ran towards the assailant, freezing his legs, preventing him from continuing forward. He tripped, looking down to his now immobile legs. His eyes followed the trail of ice to the titanium ninja.

"Nice moves, Nindroid," he complimented, "But I can do you one better." With a grunt, he freed a leg from its icy prison. He raised it and slammed it against the ground. Spikes of jagged rock rose from the ground, making a path toward Zane.

Zane jumped to the side in an attempt to avoid imminent peril, but the rocks only followed him. He jumped back as the Earth spikes drew closer, slowly picking up speed. He found himself against a cliff, rock spikes now surrounding him. He had nowhere to run.

His assailant's face grew an evil grin as the rocks trailed along the cliff wall. Suddenly a sharp pain pierced Zane's chest. His eyes widened as he slowly looked down. A rock spike had struck him right through the heart, pieces of his power source littering the ground.

The assailant laughed maniacally as he began retracting the Earth spikes. Having nothing left to power him, Zane fell to the ground, still conscious, albeit barely.

The assailant began to walk off, speaking into a headset, "The metal one has been taken care of."

In his last moments of consciousness, Zane set off his SOS beacon before falling offline. Permanently.

Hours later, night fell, the Bounty flying over the canyon on the lookout for the source of the beacon. Its spotlights spotting a silver entity in the sand below. It was him.

Cole and PIXAL dropped down from the ship for recovery. The sand had buried the Nindroid. Putting his hands to the ground, Cole summoned a quake to shake off the excess sand and dirt, uncovering a hole straight through Zane's torso.

PIXAL gasped at the sight, picking up the Nindroid to investigate. Where his heart once was, it was replaced by a profound cavity. Whatever was left of it was sprinkled in the dirt, broken beyond recognition. Zane was gone.

PIXAL held the now defunct Nindroid close, quietly sobbing to herself. Cole placed a hand onto her shoulder as he too mourned the loss of his friend.

The two carried Zane back up to the ship, the others shocked at the scene.

"Oh no, Zane..." the lightning ninja spoke with an upset tone, a hand covering his mouth.

PIXAL and Cole laid Zane down in the Bounty's control room, the remaining ninja surrounding the three. Nya crouched down to investigate the hole in his chest.

"Is... is he-?" The green ninja spoke up, worried, unable to complete his thought.

"I'm afraid he is," Nya responded quietly. "His power core. It's been destroyed."

"You can make him another one, right, sis?" The fire ninja asked desperately.

"Unfortunately, no. His power source. It's one of a kind. Even if I build him a new core, I won't have a power source strong enough to make Zane... Zane," the water ninja shook her head.

Partially paying attention, PIXAL placed a hand over her heart. It took her a second to process it, but she had an idea.

"He can have mine," she piped up. "Zane gave me half of his heart to save my life, it is only fair that I do the same for him."

"But Pix, won't you be-?" Cole interjected, only to be interrupted.

"I should be okay. I am rechargeable."

Nya shook her head, "PIXAL, you- you won't be... you anymore..."

"Zane's heart. It's what makes PIXAL, PIXAL," Lloyd said to himself.

The samurai sighed, "I am fully aware of the risks, but this is the most logical solution. Zane is far more useful to the team than I. I was created to be an assistant. Please, allow me to assist with this."

Nya stepped forward, placing both her hands onto PIXAL's shoulders. "Pix, we can't let you do this. You're our friend. We can try to find another way."

PIXAL looked around at her other teammates. Their faces showed that they agreed with Nya.

She looked to the water ninja. "If you were in a similar situation, I know you would do the same thing." She placed her hands onto Nya's shoulders. "Please, allow me to be useful."

"For Zane."

Nya pursed her lips in reluctance before sighing in defeat. "For Zane."

Throughout the day, both Nya and PIXAL worked together to create a new power core for Zane, the remainder of the ninja working to track down his assistant. Near the end of the day, the core was completed. Zane was almost repaired. Only one part remained for the repairs to be completed.

PIXAL sat next to the table Zane lied on, opening a compartment in her chest. Nya, wielding a pair of clamps, prepared to transfer PIXAL’s power source to their friend.

“PIXAL, before I do this, may I ask you something?” Nya asked.

PIXAL nodded.

“Why are you willing to sacrifice your humanity to save him?”

PIXAL looked down to Zane. “Even though it is one of my greatest fears, I am willing to do this because…” she reached her hand down to hold his. “…because I love him…” she responded quietly.

Nya smiled, “You’re a good friend Pix.” Even though she was about to lose a friend, she completely understood. PIXAL smiled back as Nya reached for her power source. As it was removed, she powered down.

Nya transferred the power source to Zane’s new core. Almost immediately, her titanium friend booted right up.

Quickly, Zane shot up, frantically putting his hands to his chest in search of the deep cavity that he just had. He took a few deep breaths as he processed the fact that he was okay, much to his confusion. He looked up to his female friend standing before him with a light smile on her face.

“Nya? You did this? But- but how?” he asked, confused.

“I had a little help,” she replied, her tone of voice wasn’t particularly cheery, nor was it upset. She turned her head to a now deactivated PIXAL who was slumped over in her chair.

“PIXAL!” Zane jumped off the table and rushed over to her. She was unresponsive. Desperately, she attempted to power her back on manually.

PIXAL’s eyes shot open as she booted up. She lifted her head to see herself face to face with the titanium ninja.

Zane sighed in relief. PIXAL was okay. Or so he thought. Excitedly, he hugged her. “You’re okay! You saved my life. Thank you,” he spoke with a combination of joy and relief. His happy expression slowly faded back into one of confusion as he noticed PIXAL wasn’t hugging him back.

“You are welcome, Zane. I am always happy to assist. Although, a hug is not required as a way of saying thanks. I was simply doing what I was made for.” PIXAL’s tone was monotonous.

Zane slowly backed away to be met with a blank-faced android. This was not his PIXAL. Worriedly, he asked, “PIXAL, do you remember me?”

“Of course, I do. You are Zane. The elemental master of Ice,” PIXAL answered.

Zane shook his head, his worry turning to sadness. “Do- do you remember… us?”

PIXAL thought for a moment. “I do recall having memories regarding the two of us, although, I do not understand them.” She showed a compilation of moments the two have shared together in the form of a projection. Zane simply watched, heartbroken.

She blinked, turning off the projection. “Zane? Were you and I… together?” She asked, trying to make sense of the situation.

Zane picked up her hand. “Yes, we were… compatible.”

The two shared a longing gaze as Zane help her hand in his. PIXAL tried hard to comprehend, but she just couldn’t. She pulled her hand away. “I… I apologize. I cannot understand. Perhaps we were compatible, but that does not appear to be true anymore.”

Zane took a few steps before he dropped his head, defeated. Nya, saddened by their exchange, placed a hand onto Zane’s shoulder.

“She did it because she loved you,” Nya commented, “I think she’d want you to know that.”

Zane smiled through his sorrow, “I wish she knew that I do too.”

“I have a feeling that she already did.”

Antony Flew, world’s most respected atheist has changed his mind. He is now an admitted deist (one who believes God created the world and went off and left it to run on its own with no revelation of His will to His creatures.). The thing that convinced him was the design of DNA. He reminded journalists that even Darwin required a creator to start it all. He also says that the resurrection of Jesus has more evidential support than any other miracle. His stumblingblock is the problem of evil in the world. He regards Islam with horror and fear due to their desire to conquer the world.

Two of Schuller’s students are Bill Hybels and Rick Warren. Schuller says we do wrong in making people aware that they are sinners. He stresses mans value instead of mans unworthiness. The boys have learned well. Hybel, Warren, and Schuller have had more input in our Churches in the last 10 years than Paul or Peter. Incidentally, Schuller said it would not disturb him to come back in 200 years and find his descendants Muslims. That will never happen simply because he isn’t coming back.

Fuller Theological Seminary President speaks to Mormons.

In speaking to them in Salt Lake, Richard Moun apologized that evangelicals “have often misrepresented the faith and beliefs of the Latter Day Saints. We evangelicals have sinned against you.” Better think twice before you send your Preacher to a Fuller Church growth meeting. Our preachers are attending in droves to Rick Warren, Jack Hayford and other such gurus who espouse the Fuller attitude. They invite in every hue of sectarianism to these Church growth meetings including Mormons.

TBN’s Paul CrouchThe charismatic Paul Crouch of TBN attempted to conceal the fact that he was gay by paying $425,000.00 to Laverne Ford who eventually exposed him. Crouch also said, “I have come to the conviction that Martin Luther made a mistake, he should have never left the Catholic Church. I am eradicating the word Protestant from my vocabulary. I am not protesting anything. It’s time for Catholics and Non-Catholics to come together as one in the spirit and one in the Lord.” TBN is an apostate network that some of our men appear on for interviews.

Max Lucado

Max Lucado, the new darling of the North American Christian Convention, used to be a Church of Christ preacher. In October, he changed the name of Oak Hills Church of Christ. He dropped the “Church of Christ” name in an effort to reach people hesitant to attend a Church of Christ. His Church jumped from 3,300 to 4,500 in 6 months. At a Charismatic Promise Keepers rally he said, “It does not matter about your denomination, it’s all about God.” Oak Hills has a booklet called, “

The Purpose of a Teaching Position

”. It says,

“A teaching position serves to articulate the convictions of the Oak Hills leadership on a particular doctrine or practice. This paper on the topic of baptism is useful for:

Those who have never been baptized.

If you want to become a member of Oak Hills and have not been baptized, we ask you to do so.

Those who have been baptized

, but not by immersion. We have many potential members who were baptized by sprinkling, usually as infants. This paper will help you see why we baptize by immersion. Tony Compolo

They even bring in Tony Compolo, who even many denominational Churches will not use because of his stating that homosexuals were born that way. He has socialist agendas. He was brought to a heresy trial in 1985 for saying that Christ is in every human being. His wife promotes homosexual marriages. He often uses vulgarisms in the pulpit to shock and shame his listeners. His defense, “what’s worse, is that you’re more upset with the fact that I said [vulgarism] than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night!” This was repeated at one of our schools.

John Hagee

John Hagee of TV fame believes that the spiritual gifts still continues today is getting a larger following. He has raised thousands of dollars to move Jews to the Holy Land, uprooting Palestinian Christians in the process. He believes Christians should have no duty to evangelize Jews since eventually. “All Israel will be saved.” He is a Christian Zionist. He pals around with Benny Hinn and other Charismatic charlatans. He is best known for his pushing of the Jewish agenda, thinking they have a spiritual relationship with God that will bring about their redemption without Christ but by living only in the light of the Torah. He says,

“I’m not out to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith.” He adds, “In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time. The Jewish person who has his roots in Judaism is not going to convert to Christianity. There is no form of Christian evangelism that has failed so miserably as evangelizing the Jewish people. They (already) have a faith structure. Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity”.

Hagee is renown for taking on anti-Semetics but he is in reality, the true anti-Semetic for he will not evangelize the Jew and give them what they need for eternal salvation.

Rick Warren

Rich Warren, of “The Purpose Driven Church”, and “The Purpose Driven Life” fame has changed the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ more than any fad for the past century due to gullibility of our preachers. He has been fellowshipping with John Templeton of the John Templeton Foundation. Templeton awards a million dollars to different persons who further the cause of harmonizing world religions. These have been awarded Agnostics, Pantheists, Hindu’s, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews as well as Billy Graham, Chuck Colson, Bill Bright, and Mother Teresa.

Is Rick after such?

Who knows? Having sold millions of books, he certainly does not need the money. He is now one of the judges for a written essay contest that Templeton is holding. He will serve as judge in the contest with renowned left-wing radicals.

TV Attention Deficit DisorderPortland (Oregon) Life found that for every hour per day preschoolers watch TV, then chance of developing attention deficit disorders later in life has boosted 10%. This is an alarming fact. You need more than control. Abstinence may be easier than temperance.

Billy GrahamRobert Schuller asked Billy Graham this question, “Tell me, what do you think is the future of Christianity?”

Graham’s reply was:

“Well, Christianity and being a true believer you know, I think there’s the Body of Christ. This comes from all the Christian groups around the world. Outside the Christian groups, I think everybody who knows Christ, whether they are conscious of it or not, they’re members of the Body of Christ. I don’t think that we’re going to see a great sweeping revival that will turn the whole word to Christ at any time. I think James answered that. The Apostle James in the first council in Jerusalem, when he said that God’s purposes for this age is to call out a people for His name whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ, because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and I think they turn to the only light they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they are going to be in heaven with us” (Billy Graham, televised interview with Robert Schuller, May 13, 1997).

In response to Graham’s totally unscriptural statement, Schuller explained, “What, what I hear you saying is that it’s possible for Jesus Christ to come into human hearts and soul and life even if they’ve been born in darkness and never had an exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you are saying?”Graham answered, “Yes, it is because I believe that. I’ve met people in various parts of the world in tribal situations, that they have never seen a Bible or heard about a Bible, and never heard of Jesus, but they’ve believed in their hearts that there was a God, and they’ve tried to live a life that was quite apart from the surrounding community in which they lived.” This was 1997. But even as far back as 1961 Graham said of infant baptism,

“ I have some difficulty in accepting the indiscriminate baptism of infants without a careful regard as to whether the parents have any intention of fulfilling the promise they make. But I do believe that something happens at the baptism of an infant, particularly if the parents are Christians and teach their children Christian truths from childhood. We cannot fully understand the miracles of God, but I believe that a miracle can happen in these children so that they are regenerated, that is, made Christians, through infant baptism. If you want to call that baptismal regeneration, that’s all right with me.”

Graham has for years turned over the names of those who came forward at his rallies to the Churches from which they came. In 1957 Graham said, “Anyone who makes a decision at our meetings is seen later and referred to local clergymen, Protestant, Catholic or Jewish.” (San Francisco news)

God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. 17 In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, *that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.* 18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. 19 We love Him, because He first loved us. 20 If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen. 21 And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother [believer] also." (1 John 4:15-20 ampc) "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32) " *He who believes in the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] has the testimony [possesses this divine attestation] within himself/herself*. He who does not believe God [in this way] has made Him out to be and represented Him as a liar, because he has not believed (put his faith in, adhered to, and relied on) the evidence (the testimony) that God has borne regarding His Son. 11 And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life." (1 John 5:10-12 ampc) "Watch therefore [give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day [whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming." (Matthew 24:42 ampc) Let the sinner, repent from sin/unbelief and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Mark 1:15) Let the believers, persist in righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ Crucified for it is only those who persevere till the end in this type of righteousness will be lifted up to meet with Jesus when He appears in the sky with the trumpet of the archangels (Matthew 24:13) Great Grace Brethren!!!

A Wild Storm of Hatred

Tornadoes, like snow days and convenient street parking, are a bit of a foreign concept to us who live in Los Angeles. Sure, you might see a movie star at a cafe, or a blazing inferno thirty feet away while you drive down the freeway, but the thing closest to what we might call a “storm” is a sprinkling of rain that forces us to turn our windshield wipers to the fastest setting.

Storms were just another one of those things that I might see on the news, happening in other places, feeling concerned about for the sake of others, but otherwise not really being my problem. And that’s analogous to my experience with police brutality and racially rooted violence in America.

Not that racism is in any way invisible in this city. If I walk in any single direction from my apartment, I’ll pass through several adjacent neighborhoods of wildly fluctuating socioeconomic status, and I’d have to be blind to miss the correlation between race and chain-link fences, boarded up homes, or expressions of safety and contentment on people’s faces. The tangible effects of systemic racism are written plainly on any map of my city, in the ink of poverty, gentrification, and unjust zoning policies. But, these are just light rains compared to what’s going on in other cities.

I’m talking about murder, of course. Power being abused in service of fear, rooted in a belief that we just can’t seem to shake as a nation, that somehow the status of being human has been distributed based on skin color. This is the storm.

I’ll be honest; reading through the book of Psalms is super, super boring. They’re nothing like the exciting stories of war and royal drama or mystical symbolic creation myths that precede it. But every once in a while, a psalm creates an image in my mind so vivid and impactful that I have to write about it.

1 Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help! 2 Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles. 3 My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats. They bring trouble on me and angrily hunt me down.

This week, I was so stressed, and I wasn’t really sure why. My daily quarantine routine of waking up, eating breakfast, watching Community on Netflix and playing games on Steam, then going to sleep, hadn’t changed. But I had read an article online about a CNN reporter who had gotten arrested at a protest in Minneapolis, just for being a bystander while black. The live television feed from the camera, lying on the ground, while the police led the reporter and his crew away, left a chilling impression. Something in the wall between my relative safety and the rest of the world started to crack, as wind and rain beat against it from the other side.

4 My heart pounds in my chest. The terror of death assaults me. 5 Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking. 6 Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest!

What would I do if I was there? What if I was that Asian cop, standing by while his fellow officer choked the life out of another man? What if history had played out just a little differently, or I was born just a few decades earlier in this country, when my people and I were regularly subjected to violence from powerful groups fueled by racism?

I don’t know. I would be so afraid. I don’t know if I would stay and fight for justice, or if

7 I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness. (Interlude) 8 How quickly I would escape— far from this wild storm of hatred.

Sometimes, I just feel so angry. I feel like the evil of racism is just too great for any of us to do anything about it, and I feel powerless and weak and prone to despair. Why doesn’t God just

9 Confuse them, Lord, and frustrate their plans, for I see violence and conflict in the city. 10 Its walls are patrolled day and night against invaders, but the real danger is wickedness within the city.

The virus is attacking us from outside, corruption and division are tearing us apart from within, and sometimes it feels like

11 Everything is falling apart; threats and cheating are rampant in the streets.

12 It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that.

No, how much better it would be if all the racists wore white hoods and name tags that clearly stated their philosophical position of which kinds of people deserve to live or die.

It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them.

I might be able to stand my ground and fight, then, if I knew with such certainty that I was on the right side, that I was fighting for the side of good with all the good people and no one I loved would be caught up in the cross-fire, but

13 Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend. 14 What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.

Everywhere on social media, they’re saying that if you side against the protesters, that if you tell them not to protest in the way they’re protesting, you’re just silencing their voices in the same way that cop silenced George Floyd’s. How do I respond, then, to the people that I know are good people who hate violence and want peace but maybe, just maybe, wouldn’t be so quick to advocate for peace if it was a white person killed, instead lauding the sacrifices necessary in war when fighting against a great evil? And what do I do when I find some of that in myself, too?

15 Let death stalk my enemies; let the grave swallow them alive, for evil makes its home within them.

16 But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. 17 Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. 18 He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me. 19 God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them. (Interlude) For my enemies refuse to change their ways; they do not fear God.

20 As for my companion, he betrayed his friends; he broke his promises. 21 His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!

22 Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

I guess I’ve been thinking a lot about what justice is and what it means. Sometimes, it seems so clear-cut. Be kind to homeless people, take care of those who have been treated unjustly, work to fix the systems that are broken. Other times, there are more questions. Will violence ultimately set back our fight for justice, or is it necessary to respond proportionately to injustice? Do we hold strictly to nonviolent moral ideals, or does tragedy inevitably beget tragedy?

But beneath all the questions, I think it’s much simpler. I’m afraid, when the National Guard shows up right outside my apartment building, and it slowly dawns on me just how powerful the enemy is that we’re fighting against. How can we possibly win a fight against a racist president who commands the world’s most powerful military, against a whole country of white people who’ve internalized their own superiority, whether conscious or not, against my own people who’ve been co-opted to believe they’ve won a spot among the conquerors? How can we win against an enemy that confuses truth by spreading propaganda, weaponizing Scripture, all while crooning a siren song of personal safety, complacency, and comfort? Every argument and counter-argument, every opinion and piece of information and angle to consider it from, I need to sort through to separate truth from lies, all while knowing that there are people dying because evil is winning, and I could be next.

23 But you, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction. Murderers and liars will die young, but I am trusting you to save me.

EO3: Philosophy on Life

I’m trying something different with the post title this time. Since my last two Extended Outlooks tackled single topics, I figure I could come up with more specific titles. It should help when looking back through these, which is something I’ve actually been done last week and this week before starting the post. I’m not precisely sure what I’ll title it at the time of writing these words, but I figure anyone can see it by the time of reading.

Speaking of those past Outlooks, I’ll do a brief review of progress. Regarding local LGBT support, I did attempt a search, but it didn’t look promising, and it left me depressed for the day—I’m fine now though. As for curbing my YouTube time, or at least being more conscious of it, I honestly forgot about it for several days. It’s not the highest priority goal, but I at least need to keep my awareness of it up if I’m going to make any progress.

With the upkeep out of the way, I can get into the main topic of the day: what I’ve referred to as my personal brand of “faith” or “spirituality” in a recent journal. I’m not precisely sure what it would be called, but those labels should be accurate enough. If I were to boil it down, I suppose I’d describe it as a personal life philosophy with a sprinkling of metaphysical ideas to provide a sense of divine purpose.

My ideas regarding this topic are rather disunified, though, since they developed at different stages of my life. The most notable elements are inspiration from Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series, which I read in high school, and my philosophy class in university, especially regarding Determinism and the problem of evil. Less direct, but likely providing a subtle foundation for my belief and philosophy, is that I was born Catholic. My family stopped regularly practicing by the time I was in second grade, but it was still enough to instill a general appreciation of faith that has persisted through an interest in atheism through my teenage years.

If I recall correctly, one of my earliest ideas along these lines was regarding the afterlife. Rather than believing in fantastical realms like Heaven and Hell, I thought about running with the idea of how dead people “live in the hearts and minds” of people they were close to. I thought it would be more real and practical to run with that sentiment as a basis for an afterlife. Developing the idea a bit further, rather than just being limited to memory, which only lasts so long, I wanted to instill an idea of one experiencing the results of their life’s actions. Consequently, one who does good in life will experience the positive impact they left on the world, while one who does harm would experience the opposite.

As I think back, I’m surprised that I don’t recall ever trying to literalize the idea, especially given the ending of The Amber Spyglass. Necessary to that idea is a belief in a metaphysical, ethereal form, such as a soul, which I do believe in, by the by. Borrowing from Pullman, I like the idea of one’s soul scattering and becoming part of the fabric of existence. From there, it actually follows that one could follow along with the consequences of their life’s actions.

Changing topics now, one of the most significant factors that influenced my personal faith was how I used the ideas of Determinism to solve the problem of evil for myself, which consequently entrenched my belief in Determinism in general. To briefly describe the “problem of evil,” it is a major argument against God, in which god is simultaneously All Powerful, All Knowing, and All Good. If all three of those are true, then there shouldn’t be evil in the world. There clearly is evil in the world, given the untold amount of suffering that people experience, from war, hunger, murder, rape, torture, slavery, and more. The only way it makes sense for such evil to exist is for God to either: A) not be all powerful and unable to stop it, B) not all knowing and ignorant of our ills, or C) not being all Good and being apathetic to, or even actively causing, our suffering.

The crux of my solution was to not consider “God” as something that we could conceive of as a “person.” Instead, I consider “God” as the sum total of all that exists, which I personally renamed as “Life.” Under this perspective, Life, by default, contains all of the power that exists, as well as all of the knowledge that exists.

Trickier is explaining out Life is All Good, but that’s primarily where Determinism comes in. The foundation here is that everything that exists behaves according to logical causality. The matter that exists behaves according to the rules and logic that we try to understand through our physical sciences: newtonian laws, theories of relativity, etc. One might say then, that these bits of matter are behaving “as they should be.” Following the Logic of the universe is “righteous” and “good.”

Admittedly, this is where Determinism tends to lose people. It’s an uncomfortable thought to many that everything anyone does is a result of physical law and biological chemistry. I’m not going to refute that idea, but I would also add that Determinism also works on a more personal, psychological level. My assertion here is that whenever a person makes a choice, they have a reason for it. That reason, or reasons, will be influenced by past experience, their goals for the future, and a multitude of subconscious elements, and it all comes together to create one’s choices in life. They are all reasons that we can personally understand in terms of “why someone does things,” and I’m asserting that the causality between these personal reasons and the resulting choice is as irrefutable as the behavior of physical objects according to the Logic of the universe. Given the sum of an individual’s personal life experience, one could deterministically figure out what choices they will make.

Those choices are, simply put, “the best ones.” We all get by making the best choices we can given our individual circumstances. While one might be able to imagine an infinite number of possible choices, only one will ever be the best one. Any ideas of “going back and making a different choices” are tainted with knowledge that one didn’t have when the original choices was made. Indeed, even in cases where one immediately regrets their choice, it was still the best that they could come up with moments ago.

What I’m suggesting then is that, similarly to how matter behaving according to the Logic of the universe is “righteous,” the personal choices we make, according to our own logic and reasoning, is also “righteous.” Yes, I’m including choices that a majority would condemn as being evil, causing great harm and suffering. A key point to remember here is that Life includes the sum total of everything, including all people. When an individual, who is part of Life, makes a choice, they make that decision according to what they believe to be Good, at least at the moment the choice is made. So all things that happen, happen because it was thought to be Good, ignoring what anyone thinks of it retroactively. The consequence then is that Life meets the qualify of “God” being All Good.

Admittedly, saying that bad things happen because “there was a reason” is about as unhelpful as saying that they happen “according to God’s plan.” There is a difference here though: the former implies that bad things can be understood, while the latter implies that things are unknowable. Remember, from the perspective of Life, we are part of it. It’s not the same as God being some separate entity that takes care of everything, shouldering all responsibility and allowing individuals to be complacent. No, from an understanding of Life, one can understand that we do have a measure of control, and we have a responsibility to use it.

This sounds like the common understanding of Free Will, but I want to quickly dispel that notion. Free Will problematically assumes that individuals bear all of the responsibility for their choices, ignoring the systems and circumstances that lead to those choices. Determinism, and Life, demands more contextual understanding of choices. I’d go even further and say that individuals have a responsibility to understand the greater context of choices, especially when evil is recognized. Free Will suggests that simply punishing the “evil individual” is enough, while Determinism suggests that a larger system is broken, which can likely only be solved through collective action.

It’s this notion of Deterministic personal choice and responsibility that I’ve, in past posts, tried to brand as “Determination.” It’s less about the fabric of the universe having already decided all that will be and all that will happen, and more about understanding that individuals behave under the context of larger systems, and thus aren’t totally responsible for their own choices. But make no mistake, individuals do make choices: we are all part of Life, my redefinition of “God,” which imbues every individual with a divine purpose and responsibility.

Well, that was my best attempt to explain things and make it sound pretty. One problem that I recognize though is an implication of “might makes right.” Those with more power, through whatever medium it manifests, will have greater control of the systems that influence the choices that everyone else makes. It’s a capitalistic market of ideas, and I’m not a big fan of this element.

I’m not a big fan of arbitrarily changing things either though, because this is part of my understanding of the reality of Life, ugly as it may be. The best I can currently hope for is that collective action can be enough to overpower the capitalist hierarchy we live in today, followed by systemic measures that ensure that the might of an individual never surpasses the might of the collective.

Anyway, this is still an Extended Outlook, so it’s ultimately about where and how I want to progress in life. I suppose what it comes down to is to continue my interest in philosophy as well as continue to grow my interest in politics. As I learn, I can better adapt my perspective of Life to make it easier for others to understand.

They invite in every hue of sectarianism to these Church growth meetings including Mormons. TBN’s Paul Crouch The charismatic Paul Crouch of TBN attempted to conceal the fact that he was gay by paying $425,000.00 to Laverne Ford who eventually exposed him. Crouch also said, “I have come to the conviction that Martin Luther made a mistake, he should have never left the Catholic Church. I am eradicating the word Protestant from my vocabulary. I am not protesting anything. It’s time for Catholics and Non-Catholics to come together as one in the spirit and one in the Lord.” TBN is an apostate network that some of our men appear on for interviews. Max Lucado Max Lucado, the new darling of the North American Christian Convention, used to be a Church of Christ preacher. In October, he changed the name of Oak Hills Church of Christ. He dropped the “Church of Christ” name in an effort to reach people hesitant to attend a Church of Christ. His Church jumped from 3,300 to 4,500 in 6 months. At a Charismatic Promise Keepers rally he said, “It does not matter about your denomination, it’s all about God.” Oak Hills has a booklet called, “The Purpose of a Teaching Position”. We ask only that you respect this position and not be divisive. Members serving in instructional capacities (such as Bible class teachers, small group leaders, and ministry leaders, elders and staff ministers) need to be in agreement and compliance with the teaching position. 3. John Hagee John Hagee of TV fame believes that the spiritual gifts still continues today is getting a larger following. He has raised thousands of dollars to move Jews to the Holy Land, uprooting Palestinian Christians in the process. He believes Christians should have no duty to evangelize Jews since eventually. “All Israel will be saved.” He is a Christian Zionist. He pals around with Benny Hinn and other Charismatic charlatans. He is best known for his pushing of the Jewish agenda, thinking they have a spiritual relationship with God that will bring about their redemption without Christ but by living only in the light of the Torah. He says, “I’m not out to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith.” He adds, “In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time. The Jewish person who has his roots in Judaism is not going to convert to Christianity. There is no form of Christian evangelism that has failed so miserably as evangelizing the Jewish people. They (already) have a faith structure. Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity”. Hagee is renown for taking on anti-Semetics but he is in reality, the true anti-Semetic for he will not evangelize the Jew and give them what they need for eternal salvation. Rick Warren Rich Warren, of “The Purpose Driven Church”, and “The Purpose Driven Life” fame has changed the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ more than any fad for the past century due to gullibility of our preachers. He has been fellowshipping with John Templeton of the John Templeton Foundation. Templeton awards a million dollars to different persons who further the cause of harmonizing world religions. These have been awarded Agnostics, Pantheists, Hindu’s, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews as well as Billy Graham, Chuck Colson, Bill Bright, and Mother Teresa. Is Rick after such? Who knows? Having sold millions of books, he certainly does not need the money. He is now one of the judges for a written essay contest that Templeton is holding. He will serve as judge in the contest with renowned left-wing radicals. TV Attention Deficit Disorder Portland (Oregon) Life found that for every hour per day preschoolers watch TV, then chance of developing attention deficit disorders later in life has boosted 10%. This is an alarming fact. You need more than control. Abstinence may be easier than temperance. Billy Graham Robert Schuller asked Billy Graham this question, “Tell me, what do you think is the future of Christianity?” Graham’s reply was: “Well, Christianity and being a true believer you know, I think there’s the Body of Christ. This comes from all the Christian groups around the world. Outside the Christian groups, I think everybody who knows Christ, whether they are conscious of it or not, they’re members of the Body of Christ. I don’t think that we’re going to see a great sweeping revival that will turn the whole word to Christ at any time. I think James answered that. The Apostle James in the first council in Jerusalem, when he said that God’s purposes for this age is to call out a people for His name whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ, because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and I think they turn to the only light they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they are going to be in heaven with us” (Billy Graham, televised interview with Robert Schuller, May 13, 1997). In response to Graham’s totally unscriptural statement, Schuller explained, “What, what I hear you saying is that it’s possible for Jesus Christ to come into human hearts and soul and life even if they’ve been born in darkness and never had an exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you are saying?” Graham answered, “Yes, it is because I believe that. I’ve met people in various parts of the world in tribal situations, that they have never seen a Bible or heard about a Bible, and never heard of Jesus, but they’ve believed in their hearts that there was a God, and they’ve tried to live a life that was quite apart from the surrounding community in which they lived.” This was 1997. But even as far back as 1961 Graham said of infant baptism, “ I have some difficulty in accepting the indiscriminate baptism of infants without a careful regard as to whether the parents have any intention of fulfilling the promise they make. But I do believe that something happens at the baptism of an infant, particularly if the parents are Christians and teach their children Christian truths from childhood. We cannot fully understand the miracles of God, but I believe that a miracle can happen in these children so that they are regenerated, that is, made Christians, through infant baptism. If you want to call that baptismal regeneration, that’s all right with me.” (Lutheran Standard October 10th, 1961) Graham has for years turned over the names of those who came forward at his rallies to the Churches from which they came. In 1957 Graham said, “Anyone who makes a decision at our meetings is seen later and referred to local clergymen, Protestant, Catholic or Jewish.” (San Francisco news) Yet many of our top leaders in our own Churches appear with Graham and support his crusades...SHAME! “KINSEY” Movie, You need to know that Alfred Kinsey, the hero of the movie, was a pervert, pedophile, wife swapper, bi-sexual and the one who deceived America with his false Kinsey Report. He is the one who made up the lie that 10% of Americans are homosexual. He used for his own survey prison inmates and prostitutes. He made his staff perform lewd sex acts on film. He employed no trained statistician. He himself should have been imprisoned as a pedophile. Daily Devotional

April 9

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) - Heb 10:22-23 (KJV)

Many Christians believe that God is the one that sometimes draws close to us, and sometimes leaves our presence, but it is us, who are born again, that need to draw near to God. It is up to us, as God is living inside the believer, and can not get any closer than that. The Old Testament law did nothing to help us draw near to God, but the New Testament Grace enables us to do so (Hebrews 7:19). To have a true heart we must worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24), and that is what our Father is looking for. We must have full assurance in our hearts, and know the love of God, so we can purge our conscience of all evil thoughts. If born again, you should not be sin conscious at all (Romans 8:1).

Most all of us when we were first born again, were not living a holy and righteous life, and it was not our goodness that caused God to save us. The bible teaches that we are to continue our Christian life by having faith in the Grace of God, and not by what we do (Colossians 2:6). When you are truly born again, you should want to live a holy life, as your nature has been changed (2 Corinthians 5:17), but you are not to try and do works to earn right standing with God, as that is works of the law. We must hold fast to our faith in God’s Grace, as those that waver will not receive anything from God (James 1:6-8). Praise God for our awesome salvation.

CLEAR CONSCIENCE

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭

Sounds different than gathering with a band and singing worship songs together, right? Offering our bodies as living sacrifices is what actual worship God is supposed to look like. Wonder where they preach that? How do we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice? By not being conformed by the pattern of this world, but by being transformed by the renewing of our minds.

But, where does the renewal of our minds come from? It comes from having a clear conscience in knowing that when we accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, we were given a new life in Christ. Scripture says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Something I’ve never really heard preached on is the transition from being lost to found. We always hear of the amazing stories of radical transformation, as if no one ever again struggles. I believe that’s the fake face of religion. Sure, I believe it’s possible for some to just be radically transformed, I wouldn’t put a limit on God. But for the rest of us, I think something needs to be said about the struggle. Paul himself, God's chosen apostle to send to the gentiles has struggled, and he had a radical personal encounter with Christ. He goes on to say:

“We know that the law is spiritual, but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.” Romans‬ ‭7:14-25

Take note of how the man who writes nearly 1/3 of the New Testament battled and struggled with sin. To believe you no longer have sin, and to not be sin conscious are two entirely different things. The law brought all of mankind into sin consciousness so that they would understand the true repentance of living a life by faith through the finished works of Jesus Christ. See, the answer comes in the very next verse, which is the beginning of Romans 8.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans‬ ‭8:1-6‬ ‭

Look at the insight given to us by God! What an amazing opportunity we have through the finished works of Christ to live productive fulfilling lives of peace through the spirit placed within us. That peace replaces the sin consciousness so that we don’t become unproductive self-loathing buckets of excuses. Instead, it empowers us to go out and change the world.

See Paul knew that the struggle was there, in fact, he was so zealous in his walk with the Lord, that he says God gave him a messenger of Satan that tormented him to keep him from becoming conceited. He goes on to say he begs Christ to take it away, but the Lord answered, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9-10‬

Are you starting to see the picture come together? Sin isn’t the issue, it’s been overcome in by the finished works of Christ. The issue is not taking ownership of the fact.

I would love for you to stop and realize that extreme ownership of the truth is what leads to a clear conscience, and a productive life of representing the Lord through love action, and truth. Since we know a clear conscious is the key, let’s revisit the top verse one more time in closing.

True worship= Offering your body as a living sacrifice, by not becoming conformed by the pattern of this world.

Renewing of your mind= Taking ownership of the fact that Christ finished works have set you free from the power of sin and death. This results in you living a productive life that glorifies God through your words and your deeds.

Taking ownership of a clear conscience is what allows you to test what God's will is. Because you will be operating in the context the Holy Spirit has designed for you, for the rest of your days. I’m gonna leave you with a couple of scriptures for those of you that choose to take action over making excuses. My prayer today is that you will take extreme ownership of the insight, revelation, and knowledge that you have been given today. That the Lord will make it plain to you, so that you will be productive through the finished works of Christ, not reliving past struggles.

Sin is coursing through your veins, but the spirit God placed in you has freed you from the power of sin and death and leaves you void of an excuse. You know have the ability to complete the works God predestined for you before he laid the foundations of the earth! Though sin is still at work in the world, you can boast in your weaknesses through a clear conscious knowing that God's power is made perfect in your weakness!

How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.Hebrews 9:14

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22

Having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.1 Peter 3:16

So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man.Acts 24:16

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. Hebrews 13:18

For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. 2 Corinthians 1:12

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
